A/N- WARNING- This chapter contains violence.
Here is chapter four! This is the chapter when everything comes out...but keep in mind although Michael was there...he won't know anything about it in the future chapters...at least not for a while. I know it probally doesn't make sense now...but it will don't worry.
Maria’s POV
I knock softly on Michael’s apartment door causing it to open slightly.
“Michael?” I call out, as I enter the empty living room.
I can barely make out the sound of voices in the other room. Peering around the corner I spot Courtney, having a serious conversation with whoever is on the other side of the line.
“Tess don’t worry they will never know it was us who killed him.” Courtney says in a harsh tone.
Oh god! She killed someone. I need to get out of here and fast. I trip on one of Michael’s shoes and before I have a chance to get up Courtney is standing over me.
“Maria…what are you doing here?” She asks, her voice tense.
“I…just wanted…to aaaa…talk to Michael but he clearly isn’t here and I have to go.” I babble, climbing to my feet.
“I truly am sorry…I never wanted to have to do this, but I have no choice.”
I look at her, confused. She couldn’t know that I know. Could she?
Before I know what’s happening she is reaching for the knife, located on the coffee table. On pure instinct I do the same hoping I get it first. Unfortunately she is the one who in the end gets the knife. She takes a couple steps towards me, but I back away.
I let out a small shriek as I lung forward, one destination in mind, getting the weapon. I mange to knock it out of her hands, and it falls to the ground with a clank. Taking advantage of her shock, I kick her in the shin and run towards the door. She attempts to grab me but obviously the pain is too much for her as she crumples to the ground holding her knee.
I scurry out the door but don’t get too far. I trip over my own two feet, and fall with a loud thud. Everything is a blur as Courtney advances on me. She is just about to pierce my flesh with the blade when a familiar voice rings through out the hall way of the apartment building.
“Courtney…what the hell?”
“Michael…we were just…she threatened me Michael.”
“That’s not what it looks like from my perspective.”
Michael…its Michael. Why is he taking the time to talk to her. Get the phone and call the police, I want to yell but am unable too. Michael kneels down beside me and picks me up. My head is pounding and my ankle hurts like hell, but yet just knowing Michael is here helps.
“Courtney, I have no idea what happened here but you can be sure the police will be notified.” Michael states.
“Sorry Michael…but I can’t let you do that.” A voice behind us bellows.
Before I can comprehend what is happening I hear a horrible sound of medal hitting scull, followed by Michael’s agonizing groan as he falls to the ground, passing out moments later. I too am now on the ground, have been dropped by Michael. The pain in my ankle is now shooting up my whole leg, making it almost impossible to walk.
Not willing to give up I try to stand, but have no success.
“I truly am sorry Maria, I never wanted to hurt you or Michael but I can’t let you go telling anyone now can I.” Courtney says.
A sharp pain shoots through my body, as Courtney hits me with the handle of the knife. Despite my attempts to fight it, everything around me goes black.
