Isabel
I awoke at 10.00a.m. the next morning,refreshed after a good night's sleep.

But I had a bad feeling in my bones,I couldn't quite place it yet I knew something was about to happen.

I put on my dressing gown and decided to go get myself a cup of coffee.

I saw the door to Uncle Jim's study open and he was talking to a tall dark haired man whose back was turned to me,there was something about the way that man stood which struck me as familiar but I didn't give it much and carried on to the kitchen.

Victor

"Thank you Mr.Valenti" I said graciously "it's been a pleasure doing business with you and yes of course I will be honoured ot attend the ball tonight.Thank you for the invitation."

We started walking out and I saw her...Isabel...she was going into the kitchen.I only saw her back but that was enough for me to hold my breath...Still so beautiful...I thought to myself

"See you this evening Sir" I said shaking Valenti's hand

I patted myself on my back,for coming up with the idea of a business deal between Valenti's horse farm and mine.

"Tonight we'll meet Isabel." I muttered to myself

Michael

I go to my room after saying goodnight to Maria and sleep until 10:30 the next morning. When I finally wake up, I throw on some clean clothes and head downstairs in a daze. I am not a morning person. When I arrive at the kitchen, I mumble, "Coffee." to one of the servants before taking a spot at the table. "Hey Isabel," I say, sitting across from her.

I wake up late...as usual...I can never seem to get enough sleep.
I head down to breakfast when I see Maria coming the other way.
"Hey"

"Hey Alex, let's go in shall we?" I say as we enter the dining room.
"Hey Isabel...Hey Michael." I say smiling more when I say Michael's name.

"Goodmorning folks!." I said walking into the ktichen to find the sleepy bunch there "looks like you all just got up."

"I've been up since 7.00a.m. 'coz dad had a business meeting which he wanted me to sit in on."

"Oh so that must have been the man I saw Uncle talking to in the study." I piped up

Kyle

"Yeah that was him.He's here on business from Switzerland,looking to extend his contacts.Quite a nice chap,he's a duke apparently." I said not noticing the look on Isabel's face

Relax Isabel...I told myself...It can't possibly be him,it's just a coincidence

"You know what....I'm not very hungry, Im gonna go for a walk" I say standing up and going outside...

"How should I know Maria!!?" I snapped back defensively

I finished my breakfast quickly..."Excuse me.I'll be in my room."

I took the stairs two at a time and entered my room...this can't be happening,not now.

"Damn you,if it was you here this morning,Victor!" I said out aloud

I took a bath and then sat down to write to my mother,trying to get my mind off things.

Damn it damn it damn it! I walk around the garden feeling like a right idiot. I should have known this was coming. Obviously it was him...and he was coming for her... and no matter what she said, she would end up in his arms.
I look around and find Im by the tree near our balcony. Just my luck I would end up here. I look up and see her sitting at her desk. God shes beautiful. I sit down at the base of the tree so that I'm facing the other way...I can't look at her anymore without feeling like a right idiot.

I wrote to my mother,telling her about Alex and how I felt about him.I also mentioned the visitor Uncle had this morning.There was nothing I could do for the moment except wait.If it was really Victor I'd deal with him when he made an appearance.

I walked out onto the balcony,it was a cloudy morning but a slight breeze was blowing so I decided I'd walk about in the garden abit.As I was going down the steps I saw Alex.

"Alex...what's wrong?" I asked kneeling by his side

I couldn't tell her the truth, because a) she would get mad at me again when I spoke my mind like I did yesterday, and b) I couldn't bring myself to say it.
"Oh nothing. Just admiring the view" I say.
Thank God that I was a decent actor.
