Birthday Surprise
Max was running around trying to make sure that everything was perfect. Today was Liz’s 18th birthday, and he had a surprise for her. They had been dating for a little over 2 years now, and he wanted to make sure that this would be a night to remember. Everything was planned. He rented a small cabin in Frazier Woods, and decorated it with candles and white roses. He hired the limo that would bring him and Liz out here. Now all he had to do was get himself ready.
After one last look around the cabin, Max decided that everything looked perfect. He shut the door, and waited outside for Isabel to come pick him up. He had decided that since they were coming up in a limo that he needed to have the Jeep already here. On the drive back to his house, he thought about the conversation that he had with Jeff and Nancy Parker 2 weeks earlier.

Flashback
Max nervously knocked on the door to the Parker’s apartment. He knew that Liz was working down stairs, so this was the perfect time to find out if he would be able to put his plan in motion.
“Hi, Max.” Nancy Parker greeted. “Liz is downstairs working.”
“Yes, Ma’am. I know.” He replied nervously. “I was wondering if I could speak to you and Mr. Parker for a minute.”
“Sure. Come on in.” She told him. “Jeff, Max is here and would like to speak with us for a minute.” She hollered out to her husband.
Jeff walked into the room and saw how nervous Max was. He had a feeling that this boy was going to become a permanent part of their lives soon, but he hoped that wasn’t the reason for this particular visit. “Why don’t we all take a seat in the living room?” Jeff suggested.
After everyone had sat down, Max knew that it was time. He took a deep breath and then said, “Mr. and Mrs. Parker, I love your daughter very much. I wanted to do something very special for her birthday, but I wanted to make sure that I had your permission before I planned everything.”
Jeff and Nancy looked at each other before Jeff said, “Okay. I am not going to promise to give my permission for anything, but we will listen to what you have to say and then let you know.”
“Fair enough. There are actually 2 parts to what I would like to ask. First, I want you to know that I love your daughter with all of my heart. I have been in love with her since the first time I saw her back in the 3rd grade. I know that you are probably thinking that I don’t really know what love is, but trust me I do. When Liz and I are together, I just feel complete. I would do anything for her including giving up my life it the situation called for it.” Max stopped talking to take a deep breath before he continued. He looked directly into Jeff Parkers eyes as he continued talking. “The reason that I am telling you all of this is because I would like your blessing to ask Liz to marry me, and before you say anything I want you to know that I have thought this through. We are both going to Harvard for college, and I have done some research on apartments in the area. We can get a small apartment for less money than what it would cost for 2 different dorm rooms. Since housing in covered in our scholarships, I called the housing office, and they told me that if we choose to live off campus, that we would receive the money that was allotted into our scholarships for housing expenses. This would mean that we would be able to support ourselves in an apartment without having to worry about getting stressful jobs that might interfere with our schooling. They also have part time jobs for scholarship students at the school that would give us credit towards graduation as well as a steady salary.”
Jeff and Nancy were very impressed with everything that Max was telling them, but there was one thing that they wanted to clear up. “I am very impressed with the research that you have done regarding your future. I also want to say that I believe you when you say that you love Lizzie, and I know that she feels the same way about you. Before I consider whether or not I will give you my blessing, I have one question for you. When do you want to get married?” Jeff asked.
“Honestly, I would marry her tomorrow if I could, but that wouldn’t be realistic. If Liz decides that she wants to get married before we go to college, then I am okay with that, but if she decides that she wants to wait until after we go to college, I am okay with that too.” Max told him looking directly at him.
“Very well.” Jeff said before he turned and looked at Nancy. With a slight nod of her head, she gave her blessing. “I guess the only thing for me to say is welcome to the family Max.” Jeff told him.
Max let out the breath that he didn’t even realize that he had been holding. “Thank you so much Mr. and Mrs. Parker. You don’t know what this means to me.”
“Nonsense. I know how in love with you my Lizzie is, and you make her happier than I have ever seen her. Since you will be joining the family soon, I suggest you call us Jeff and Nancy.” Jeff told him. “Now that is out of the way, what was the other thing you wanted to ask us?”
“Well, I want to make the proposal romantic, and I want the place to be somewhere that we have never been together. Since this will signify a new beginning in our life, I want the place to be the same. My family and I used to rent one of the cabins out in Frazier Woods, and I think that it would be the perfect place. I could rent the cabin for the night, and decorate it with candles and white roses so that everything will be perfect for Liz.” Max took a deep breath before he continued. “I would like you permission for Liz and I to spend the night in the cabin.”
Jeff had a feeling that this was what the second question would be, but he couldn’t say that he was very happy about it. “I cannot give you my permission for that Max. I’m sorry.” Jeff could see Max visibly deflate at his words, so he rushed on to explain what he meant. “You will have to get my daughter’s permission for that. She will be 18 by then, and legally there is nothing that I can do if she wants to stay out all night. I will respect her decision because if there is one thing that I remember from when I asked Nancy to marry me, it’s that we wanted to remember that night as just the two of us, and if I say that you have to have her back home by a certain time, then you will not be able to cherish the moment.”

“MAX!”
“What Isabel? You don’t have to scream.”
“Obviously I do because we have been sitting in the drive way for the last 5 minutes while I have been trying to get your attention.” She retorted before she got out of the car and went inside.
Max followed her inside to get ready for Liz’s party that they were having at the Crashdown. The party starts at 6:00 PM and the limo will arrive to take them to the cabin at 9:00 PM

6:00 PM at the Crashdown
“Happy birthday, Baby.” Max whispered in Liz’s ear.
“Thank you.” Liz said as she turned around and brought her mouth to his in a passionate kiss. “I love you.” She said as they broke apart.
“I love you, too. Would you like to dance birthday girl?” He asked.
“I would love to.”
Max lead Liz out into the middle of the dining room floor. All of the tables had been pushed to the side so that there was plenty of room for everyone to dance. Max had planned for a certain song for him and Liz to dance too, but he couldn’t get Isabel’s attention so that she could put it on.
Half way through the dance, he finally caught Isabel’s attention, and motioned for her to put the song on that he wanted.
“This next song goes out to the birthday girl. If you listen to the words, you will know who it is from.” The DJ said into the microphone.

As Liz listened to the song, she started to cry. She knew exactly who dedicated this song to her. It was the wonderful man standing in her arms right now.

Max reached up and kissed away the tears that were falling down her check as her pulled her closer to him.

Liz kissed Max with all of the love and passion that she had in her. It wasn’t until the need for air became and issue did they notice everyone in the restaurant was clapping, and most of the women were crying. Embarrassed, Liz turned her face into Max’s chest.
“I hate to break up this moment, but I would like to dance with my daughter before the night is over.” Jeff told them coming up behind Liz.
“Oh daddy.” Liz said as she pulled out of Max’s arms, and into the arms of her father.
Nancy had been watching Jeff approach them, so she decided that she was going to tell the DJ what song needed to be played for father and daughter to dance to.
As Liz and Jeff started to dance, Jeff heard the music key up for a new song that just put into perspective exactly how he felt. He looked up and saw Nancy standing with Max watching them dance. She had tears in her eyes, but a smile on her face. “Listen to the song, Lizzie.”

“I love you, Lizzie. No matter how old you get, or what happens in your life, just remember that.” Jeff told her.
“I love you too daddy.” She told him with tears in her eyes.
As they were walking off the floor towards Max and Nancy, they heard singing.
“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Liz. Happy birthday to you.” Everyone sang.
“Blow out your candles and make a wish.” Maria told her.
Liz looked over at Max and a big smile crept on her face. She blew out the candles quickly and hoped that her wish would come true.
“Now it’s time for presents.” Isabel announced.
Liz opened all her presents taking time to thank everyone. She got some strawberry body wash in a gift bag from Isabel, a CD from Michael, a gift card from Kyle, and a charm bracelet from Maria with a best friends charm already on it. Alex gave her 4 charms to go on her bracelet. There was a three musketeers candy bar, a microscope, the number 18, and a little alien head. Grandma Claudia gave her a new leather bound journal with a locket that served as the key. Inside the locket was a picture of her and Max when they first started dating. Her parents gave her keys to a 2006 Chevy Tahoe, and even thought the car was an awesome present, the best present came from Max. It was a set of ¼ karat diamond earrings and a necklace with a heart charm on it with a diamond in the center. When she turned the heart over to look at the inscription that was on the back she started to cry all over again. It said “I give you my heart completely. Max.”
After all of the presents had been opened, the cake had been eaten, and everyone danced, it was time for the limo to show up. Max looked at Jeff and Nancy Parker to let them know that it was almost time. They nodded their heads that they understood, and waited for Max to move over to Liz.
“Liz, you need to start telling everyone bye because I have a surprise for you.” Max whispered in her ear.
“Okay. Let me go make sure that it is okay with my parents that we leave.”
“Mom, dad, Max says that he has a surprise for me, and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind if we left for a little bit.”
“Of course not honey. You and Max have fun. We will take care of everything here.” Nancy told her.
After telling everyone bye, and gathering their jackets, Max escorted Liz outside.
“Max, why is there a limo sitting in front of my parents’ restaurant?”
“This is our limo, and it is going to take us to your surprise.”
Liz looked at him with shock and complete adoration in her eyes. She allowed Max to help her into the limo. “This is wonderful. Thank you.” She told him as she brought her mouth to his for a passionate kiss.
“Anything for you. Now you just have to put this blind fold on, and you can’t take it off until I say so. Okay?”
Liz just nodded her head. She knew Max well enough to know that what ever her surprise was, it was going to be wonderful, and she didn’t want to do anything that would ruin it.
After what seemed like forever, but was only 20 minutes, Liz felt the car stop and heard the door open. She allowed Max to help her out of the car.
Max didn’t want her to trip, so he decided to carry her to the cabin. Once he reached the porch, he put her down. “Just a few more minutes. I want to make sure that everything is perfect before I let you see. Just stand still and I will be right back.” Max opened the door and walked inside. He went around and lit all of the candles. He pressed play on the CD player so that the CD Alex had previously made for him started to play. He knew that he had exactly 5 songs until the one special song that he picked out for her would play.
Max walked back over to the door and led Liz inside. He closed the door behind them before he reached up and untied the blind fold to let it fall away.
Liz gasped as she took in the beauty of the room. She saw 4 vases with white roses in them, white rose petals covered the floor, and candles flickering everywhere. There were so many candles, that there was no need to turn the lights on. She heard the radio playing in the background, and noticed that it was the same song that Max had dedicated to her earlier. “It’s beautiful.” She said.
Liz turned around and brought her mouth down on his hard, pouring every ounce of passion that she had into that kiss. They broke away when air became an issue, and leaned their foreheads against one another each taking deep breaths trying to get air back into their oxygen starved lungs.
After a few minutes of just looking into each others eyes and a few more heated kisses, Max noticed that it was already on the 4th song of the CD. He slowly broke eye contact with Liz and lead her to the exact spot he wanted her. “I love you.” He told her before he sealed his lips to hers in a breath stealing kiss. When he pulled back he saw the dazed look in her eyes, and that is exactly what he wanted. Without letting go of her hand, Max dropped down to one knee and stared up at her while the 5th song on the CD started.

Liz opened her eyes, and saw that Max was kneeling down in front of her holding her hand. She quickly brought her hand to her mouth as she started to softly cry.

Once the song was over Max held on a little tighter to her hand and started talking. “Liz I have loved you since the first day that I saw you in the 3rd grade. You have owned my heart since that day. You are my entire world, and the air that I breathe. I am blessed and astounded by the love and affection that you show me. I never thought that you would love me in return. I am so grateful to have you in my life. I want to wake up every morning to your beautiful face, and I want that same beautiful face to be the last thing I see before I close my eyes every night.” Max paused for a minute to reach into his pocket and pulled out the ring that he bought for her. With the box opened in his hand he said, “Will you, Elizabeth Claudia Parker, marry me and make me the happiest man in the world?”
“Yes. A thousand times yes. I love you so much.” She said with tears streaming down her face before she crushed her lips to his.
When they pulled apart, Max slid the ring onto her finger, and then kissed it. He stood up and led her to the sofa. He sat down and pulled her into his arms, and they sat there cuddled in each others arms listening to the music.
“How did you find this place?” Liz asked him.
“My parents would bring Isabel and I here when we were younger. I always loved how peaceful it was out here, and I wanted to share it with you.”
“I can’t believe that you planned all of this. Everything is perfect. I just wish that we didn’t have to go back home tonight.” Liz told him with a sigh.
“We don’t. I already asked your parents for permission for us to stay the night out here, but your dad said that it was up to you.” He told her as he kissed her cheek.
“Well I definitely don’t want to go home. I want to stay right here with you, but I don’t have any other clothes with me.”
“It’s all taken care of. Your mom packed you a bag with some clothes in it. I brought it out here earlier when I set everything up.”
“Oh Max. You thought of everything didn’t you?”
“I wanted everything perfect for you. I didn’t want you to have to worry about anything. Would you like to see the rest of the cabin?”
“Does that include a tour of the bedroom?” Liz asked with a twinkle in her eyes.
“I was thinking that it would be the last place we toured.” Max told her with a sheepish grin. He hoped that they would make love tonight, but he was going to let her decide.
Max and Liz got off of the sofa and he showed her all around the little cabin. Before taking her down towards the bedroom, he quickly blew out all of the candles and turned off the CD player.
As they walked hand in hand to the bedroom, Max started to get a little nervous. Before Liz could reach out and open the bedroom door, Max stopped her and said, “I want you to know that I don’t have any expectations about tonight. I just want to be with you, so if you want to just snuggle in bed together and go to sleep, I am okay with it.”
“But what if I don’t want that? What if I want more than that?”
“We will do whatever you want. I just wanted you to understand that I don’t want to pressure you into anything.”
“Okay.” She said as she turned the knob and opened the door. Liz turned around and captured Max’s lips in a breath stealing kiss as she started walking them toward the bed. “I love you, Max, and I want to make love to you.”
That was all that Max needed to hear. He laid her down on the bed and slowly started removing her clothes. Max kissed each inch of skin that was revealed to him. When she was completely naked, he leaned back to get his first look at her. “Beautiful.”
“My turn.” She told him as she started removing his clothes in the same way that he did to her. Once he was completely naked, she decided to try something that she had wanted to do for a while, so before he could say anything, she took his erection into her hand and stroked him for a minute.
Max closed his eyes in pure bliss. Her hands on him were driving him crazy. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to last long, but before he could say anything he felt the wetness of her mouth closing over him. It took every ounce of control that he had to keep from cumming on the spot. “Liz I’m not going to last very long with you doing that. Oh God.” He panted out.

Max didn’t disappoint. He realized that he was close, and reached a hand down in between them to rub her clit. When he felt her walls tightening on him, he let him self go with a groan.
Once he caught his breath, he slipped out of her wet heat and felt the loss immediately. He laid down next to her and pulled her into his arms. “That was amazing.”
“Yeah, it was. I love you.”

“I’m perfect. I will be sore tomorrow, but that is normal. Right now I just want to go to lay here with your arms wrapped around me.”
“This is how it is going to be for the rest of our lives.” Max said before they slowly drifted off to sleep.
