"Do you believe they'd be in right now if you were to go home?" I ask, thinking that maybe she might have time since my shoot is over and that family should get some time as much as possible. "I mean, if you have the chance and I'm holding you up, feel free to tell me. I can make my way out of here. Who knows, maybe I'll even make it back to the club tonight and you'll manage to get there so I can find out if you had some luck." I give her a smile, feeling a bit more comfortable with the knowledge that I'm not going to have to face any more photo's at the moment.
I love the attention, don't get me wrong, but when I know it's coming, when I have to pose... well it's a bit different.

Is it just me or did he just invite me to the club? Don't get me wrong...lovely guy...but not gonna happen. But I wouldn't mind a friend.
I smile. "Well Mr Valenti it was a pleasure working with you...and I'll see if I can make it to the club tonight" I add as I hold my hand out to him.

"It was a pleasure working with you as well, Miss Evans. I'll certainly see to it that my assistant keeps your information should I require photography again." I smile, "See you tonight if you're there. Hope you have plenty of time with your family. Family is important." I add quietly before I release her hand and step back, gathering my jacket before I turn to her again, "My assistant will be by to pick up the photo's as well as pay for the session."

“Oooh, have you decided what your new book is going to be about yet?” Tess inquires innocently. I actually physically cringe at the thought. To be honest I haven't been able to discuss my novel with anyone. I am about to dart the question when she continues.
“I actually haven’t had a chance to read your first book yet,” she replies her cheeks twinged with pink. She appears to be embarassed. That's quite charming.
“I’ve been so busy with work at the law firm and…” she trails off and it seems as if she's holding something back. Tess is going to be an interesting character to decipher. “…and other stuff but I’ve heard only good things about it. You must be so happy and proud.”
Her words are comforting but I can't help but ponder the pressure that comes along with it. I am very pleased with the success of my book, but now there's so much riding on my next one. The questions haunt me both day and night. Will I be able to do it again? or Will my second installment tank?
Tess knocks steadly on the door and an extremely well put together chick answers.
“Hey Serena, are you busy? I thought that we could hang out for a little while.” Tess states before turning to me. “This is Serena, by the way. Are the others home yet?”
The girl shakes her head emphatically. “Hey Tess and you must be Liz, right? Its nice to meet you. Welcome to the madness of New York,”
"Thanks, I have to say it's an entirely different world here." I admit taking the chance to survey my surroundings. The apartment is very stylishly decorated. They certainly have exqusite taste.
"You have a beautiful place." I compliment using my best manners.

“Thanks.” I say, smiling with pride as I usher them towards the kitchen and Alex. So far, Liz seems like a really nice person. I think that I’m going to like getting to know her. Normally, I’m pretty good judge of character and something tells me that Liz is a good sort of person. Plus she is friends with Maria and I love Maria to bits. I wonder if she (Liz, not Maria) is single.
“Yeah, New York can seem like a entirely different world,” I agree, remembering the first time I stepped into the city with a shudder. “I was completely bewildered when I first moved here but you learn to love. There’s no other place I would rather live.”
Well, for the moment. I love New York and I’m really happy here but I don’t plan on living here forever. I’ve always dreamed of raising my children in a small town by the sea. Of course, children are so far in my future that it doesn’t even matter at the moment.
Pushing open the kitchen, I find Alex where I left him. Hmmm, I wonder what he is thinking about. I hope that he likes Tess and Liz. I want him to feel like he fits in here in New York. I can hear voices talking outside the kitchen, Serena and two other females I think. Looking around the kitchen a bit, I sigh. Looks like it is yet another new beginning and after Abby ... passed, I was so hoping there wouldn't be many more coming but here I am with Seth, in New York, only knowing two people (well, three if the quiet Max Evans counts too) and just about to start a new job.
Hearing footsteps and the voices getting louder, I turn to the door, watching as Serena walks in, followed by two pretty short women.
“Guys, this is Alex, my cousin. Alex this is Tess and Liz. They live across the hall but Liz only moved into the apartment today. She’s new to New York like you. Alex moved into town this morning as well.”
Okay, the blonde one's Tess and the brunette is Liz, I think I can remember that. "Hey, it's a pleasure to meet you two." I say as I first shake Tess' and then Liz's hand. "Looks like Serena's place is a big meeting point here in New York."

“That’s because she bakes the most amazing double chocolate chip cookies,” I laugh, only half joking. Serena does bake some delicious treats when she has the time. Other than shopping, hanging out with the gang here and eating cookies is one of my favorite things to do.
“Is that’s the only reason you come over?” Serena asks with mock outrage.
“And because I love you. Of course, that’s the real reason I come over. It really has nothing to do with the cookies.” I laugh before stating with a friendly smile towards Alex. “Its really nice to meet you at last, Alex. Serena has told us all so much about you. All good, I promise.”
He is cute, in a geeky sexy cute kinda way. Serena said that he was a web designer and I guess that explains the geeky vibes that he sending off. I can’t help but notice that he is also wearing a wedding band on his left hand. I remember that Serena said that he was widowed. It must be the worse feeling in the world to lose someone you love. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would feel like.
On a side note, it might be wise not to mention anything to do with death, marriage or being widowed. I would really like to avoid making any awkward moments.

And yet I can't help and briefly think about Abby and ... no, I better not go there now or the mood will be ruined here.
