Hi, if you have seen my Author's Page then you know that I have finished this story. All I need to do now is to update in time.
Part 50
“Damn it,” Philip yelled. “I thought you were the best men for this job.”
All of the men but one lowered their heads in shame.
“Sir,” he objected.
“What? How could this happen? It was just a kidnapping, how was it possible that even you couldn’t accomplish it? Do I really need to do everything by myself?” Philip snapped.
“Sir,” the man, Sean, objected again. “It wasn’t our fault,” he said, ignoring the mad look Philip gave him.
Philip was so angry; he didn’t know what to do. What to throw, what to ... kill. Two mistakes. Two terrible mistakes from his best men.
At first he had sent some people to Florida, to ‘collect’ Nancy, Jeff and that little boy, Chris. Then some of his people had found out where his daughter was and he sent another set of men to Mexico to get her and Alex and bring them all to him.
But they weren’t here, in Roswell. No, now Philip didn’t even have a clue as to their whereabouts.
And whose fault was it?
Apparently his men had done everything right, but then suddenly other men in masks came. Shots were fired and both times, in Florida and in Mexico, his men lost them. And now Jeff, Nancy, Chris, Isabel and Alex were missing, probably they had been taken by those other people.
Right now, Philip was using all his connections to find out who dared to stand against him. As soon as he found out they would be history.
He had collected a small folder of information and some of the clues were leading to Washington.
“Sean,” he said, handing him the folder. “You’re going to Washington, I need you to investigate this,” Philip said, deciding that there wasn’t any point in blaming his men.
He would give them one last chance.
“I want you all out now,” he snapped irritated. “I have to think what to do next about the mess you have created.”
When he was alone, Philip tiredly sat back in his chair. He placed both his hands on the top of his wooden table and just stared at his family picture.
It had been taken years ago. Max had graduated high school that day and Philip couldn’t have been more proud, although around that time their fights had started.
When Elizabeth was out of Max’s life, Philip could see how he changed, for the best. He studied business and married a suitable wife, Tess. Although he had to admit that Tess had been giving him headaches with her constant whining, but that was another story.
But his son, Max... Just recently Philip had started to trust him more and was even considering bringing him into his real business. He thought Max had accepted his fate, but apparently Philip had been wrong.
His son had lied to him.
His men still were monitoring the Parkers’ apartment and Philip knew that Max was with that Parker girl... again. He was disappointed in Max, disappointed that after everything, he had gone to Elizabeth. He had a wife, but he was spending his nights with her.
And then there was that fact that Max had lied about his whereabouts, telling him that both he and Isabel had wanted to go onvacation.
Vacation… Philip sneered. How was it possible that he had been so blind to this? Of course, Diane’s sudden death had shocked them all, but it wasn’t enough to make Max and Isabel lie. Especially to him; to their father.
Now he was angry with Max. Philip had spent all his life just with one goal in mind... to give Max a good life. He had closed his eyes on his relationship and marriage to Elizabeth, helping him to get back on the track.
And this was how he repaid? By lying and going to Elizabeth?
Max was obviously irresponsible; he had forgotten his duties to him, his father, and his wife Tess.
Philip sighed. He was going to give Max another chance.
Right now, Elizabeth, Michael and Max were at the Parkers’ apartment. His men would go there and bring them all back to Roswell; by force, if necessary.
He was tired of these games, he wasn’t that young anymore. Philip just wanted to see how Max ruled everything he had created for him over the last thirty years; that and a couple of grandchildren that would carry on the family name.
Apparently Philip had already one grandson, Chris, but he would never acknowledge it. Chris wasn’t born in wedlock; and his mother was Elizabeth and she came from a fallen family.
No, Philip wanted only the best for his son. He and Diane had met when he was barely in his twenties. He had known immediately that she would become his wife. After a year, they married and it was another year before Max came to the world. He wanted similar life for Max.
One happy marriage and two beautiful children.
Finally, Philip stood up and went outside, where his men, minus Sean, who was already on his way to Washington, were sitting.
They all stood up immediately as soon as Philip appeared.
“Go to Florida and bring them all here,” he ordered. “I won’t tolerate any mistakes this time, is that clear?” he threatened.
“Yes, sir,” they answered in unison.
“Go,” Philip said.
It wouldn’t be long now, he thought.
He was smirking as he walked back to his office.
