Thursday,W.R.H. (Before classes start)
Liz's P.O.V.

"Lex. . .go ask Isabel out for tomorrow." I pleaded to him inscessantly since yesterday but he's still too worried about rejection.

BTW,Maria isn't here coz' I shooed her away because she can't know about the surprise that Michael has planned for her. . .I told her a lame excuse about having a boring extra assignment to pick up from Alex and she actually bought it. Hook,line and sinker. . .

"But. . ."

"Go on!"

"What if-"

"No. I already told you yesterday. Max and I have already talked about setting the two of you up. He wants to hear about your plans later."

"I'll try but I wouldn't know where to take her if she asked that question later?"

"Tell her that it's a surprise."

"I'll try. . ."

"Don't just try,succed." I almost half-shouted at him for being so stubborn.

"I'll be watching." I whispered to him as I pushed him in the direction of his History class with Madame Isabel. After he has walked a few feet away,I start following him in the same direction but made sure not to be spotted.

Okay,there's Isabel! He's approaching her. . .They're talking. Isabel hands him her books and they start to walk to the History room. Suddenly,Alex stops. He calls out to Isabel and she faces him. I can see him slowly letting the words out. Isabel looks cool. Smiling and nodding every few seconds to reassure him that she was getting whatever he had to say. Alex looked over-nervous as he finished his half-planned spiel to Isabel. She looked at him with satisfaction and nodded. Alex smiled and Isabel said something again. There was a dreamy look on his face. She took her books back from him and walked ahead to the classroom. Then,he turned to face me and winked while doing a thumbs-up thing. . .

Yes!Mission accomplished!. . .

Bio Lab
Max's P.O.V.

We (Liz and I) already talked about the plans for Alex to ask Izzy out.She's been trying to convince him since yesterday. I'm going to find out today if it could be a gang-date or something. . .I'll tell Mike of what happens so he knows if Iz and Alex are coming. . .

Okay,here's Liz. . .I'm very anxious to find out what happened with Alex and Iz.

"Hey."

"Hey." she answered back and sat beside me with a smirk and then turned to face me.

"Everything's good. He asked and she said yes."

I nodded. "Tha's great. Maria's really gonna be surprised,huh?"

"You kidding?! She'll be too in love with Michael to play anything else once she finds out where he's taking her!"

Mr. Hybels stepped into the room and cleared his throat.

"New lesson today,class. We study about the circulatory system. It's all about the heart,blood and the other parts that transfer blood around the body. . ."

Oh boy,hope this doesn't suck. Though I doubt it coz' Liz is my partner. . .

After Bio. . .
Liz's P.O.V.

This lesson isn't really that boring. . .we've got this really cool assignment to start tomorrow and will be due on Monday. We measure the heart beat of our partners! Mr. Hybels will give us a list of when amd where we should do so. . .I loove this class so much. . .I'm devoted to this!

Meanwhile,Max and I are walking around on a break and talking about said assignment.

"That assignment will be loads of fun." I chirped as we walked down the hallway heading to our lockers.

Max looked at me mischiveously. "Fun?"

"Plenty fun. . ."

"Why?. . ." he shot me a suspicious look.

"Do I still have to tell you?" I shot back an equally mischiveous look.

"Yes. It is required to tell you partner on why you would think that it is considered enjoyable and 'loads of fun' to be measuring the said partner's heart beats at a particular time on doing a particular activity. . ."

"If I must. . ." Liz shrugged. "It will be plenty fun because: One,My partner will be fun in doing this with. Two,Said partner will also have fun in doing this with me. . .I assure you that."

I turned my head to look at Max and noticed him turning ten shades redder.

"You think so?" he asked and stopped walking.

"Of course. Fun is what you make of it and I'm gonna make fun out of this assignment,so if you would care to join me. . .you are welcome to do so and have fun with me as well."

"Why,Id love to. . ." Max said with a dreamy voice.

We burst out into laughter at his corny answer and proceeded into taking our stuff from our lockers for our next period.

After doing so,Max walked me to my next class and I told him to meet me at the cafeteria at lunch to talk with Alex about Isabel.

Max's P.O.V.

Walking to the next class,I spotted Michael waving to me from the corner of my eye. I quickly turned around and approached him.

"Alex and Iz are coming." I informed him as I stepped forward.

He nodded. "Good.Tell themto be there at seven. You too. I'll be picking Maria up by then. I also need to ask you a favor. I need someone to 'borrow' Maria's guitar for tomorrow night."

"I'll see what I can do."

"Cool. Send me a message later if you can get it."

"Okay."

"Later."

"Later."

I walked away to my next class.

Part 14b

Lunch Time,At the school cafeteria
Max's P.O.V.

We are now sitting on a table with Alex and Liz has just finished filling him in on the plans we had for tomorrow night.

"So,what do you think?" Liz asked him.

Alex nodded with approval. "Maria would absolutely love this."

"Oh, we need one more conspirator for this plan." I said as I was looking over to the direction where Alex sat.

"For what?" he asked and looked back at me.

"Michael asked me to find someone who could borrow Maria's guitar for tonight and bring it over to the cafe tomorrow night for Maria to use."

Alex nodded. "I can ask her about it later."

"Great." I said as I took my cell phone from my pocket and quickly sent a message to Mike telling him that we have already found a way to 'borrow' Maria's guitar. "Michael reminded me to tell you to be there a seven."

"Okay."

"As of now,things are carefully planned. . ." Liz observed. "That was very good of Michael to do for Maria."

"I know. I think he really wants to make theirfirst date special." I said.

"I can only imagine her reaction tomorrow night." Aex added which got me thinking about what Maria would say once she found out that she was supposed to go singing the next day.

At the Crashdown Cafe,That evening
Liz's P.O.V.

"I can't believe we actually get to do something tomorrow. . .He talked to me awhile ago and told me that he wold be around at seven." That was Maria. She has been rambling on and on about tomorrow since our shift started.

I nodded as I went to another table to wait on the people that sat there.

"I'm just soo excited." Maria giggled as she cleaned up a table to my right.

"Ssshhh. . ." I hissed to her. . .Hello?!,waiting tables here. . .do not disturb!

"Oh. . ." She whispered back and mouthed 'talk to you later' before moving back to the kitchen.

I took the order of the people on this table and went to the kitchen as well. I handed in the order sheet and turned back to Maria who was standing beside me.

"Chica,I can tell that you really are excited about tomorrow. I wish you all the good luck for then coz' I truly care about you and your really freaky alien-like well-being. I'm also guessing that you will be bringing those aromatherapy oils with you tomorrow."

Maria nodded slowly. "I need them."

"I know.Just don't bring too much to sniff at or you migfht faint or throw up coz' of the mixed scents. . .I mean,once,I almost puked at you when you spilled some of those on my clothes."

"Okay,okay. I get it."

The bell rang which ment that the food for my table was ready.

"Gotta get back." I said as I side stepped Maria and went straight to the counter to get the food.

After delivering the food,I went back to Maria.

"What do you plan to wear?" I asked as I stepped a little closer to her.

"I'm not sure yet. . .I raid the closet tonight."

"I'm really sorry that I can't be there to help you out tomorrow. . ."

"That's okay. . .I know you have a date."

"Yeah. . ."

"What about Alex?"

"No. Not a good idea."

"Why?"

"He's got another asignment tomorrow and you probably can't tear him away from it even if you tried."

"That's weird. He called me up to borrow my guitar a few hours ago. I didn't really ask what he would use it for." Whhoops! Almost busted. Time to make another lame excuse.

"That's the point. Assignment that includes the use of your guitar."

"Mine? What happened to his? I saw it with him in band class. . ."

"He told me that he had lent it to a friend and suddenly remembered that her needed it but was too embarassed to ask for it before the due return date son he decied to borrow yours."

"How do you know?" She asked while shooting me a suspicious glance.

"Easy,he told me that when I met him earlier."

"Oh." she said flatly. She bought it again!

I glanced a my watch and turned back to the counter. Jenna pointed tothe clock and smiled. I nodded and looked at Maria. "I have to go now. Shifts over."

We gave each other a hug and I ran back up to my room upstairs. I needed to pick out something to wear.

Liz's P.O.V.

I have to pick out the perfect clothes. I'm not really the dressy type but when I plan to go out with Max,everything has to be perfect!

I'm thinking that I should dress up in something more. . .um,more interesting than what I wore on our first date. And I think I know just what would be the perfect set of clothes for that. . .

That evening,in her room
Liz's P.O.V.

Maria already went home after her shift ended so that she could get ready.

Since this afternoon,I've been sending messages to Max. This is what one of them said:

'Hey,I can't wait to see you tonight. . .'

in which he replied to with:

'me too. . .'

So here I am. . .dressed up and waiting for Max to arrive. I hope he likes what I'm wearing because Maria wasn't really here to be my consultant but I really think that I chose a nice set. . .I had picked out a navy blue capped-sleeved top with a floral print skirt and a pair of sandals.

It isn't really seven yet but we have to get there early so that it'll be a complete surprise for Maria when they get there.

I'm going downstairs to talk to my father so that he will know that I'll be gone.

I ran down to the Crashdown and spotted my father.

"Dad."

He turned around and looked at me.

"Lizzie,you going somewhere?"

"Yes,I am.Um. . .I'm gonna go out with Max."

"Oh. Go ahead. But remember,ten-thirty. . ."

I pouted at him.

"Daddy, . . .Maria's going to perform. Can't you stretch the curfew a teeny bit?"

He looks at me again. . . "Why should I stretch it? It's fine the way it is. . ."

"Please,please. . ."

"Hhmmm. . .okay,here's my idea. How about ten-forty? Sounds good?"

"A little more. . .How about. . .eleven."

"Liz. . ."

"Awww,come on. . ."

I frowned and pouted some more.

"It's late."

"Have pity and consideration. . ."

"Oh-okay.Eleven. Fine. Just get here by then. . .Do you understand?"

"Yay! Thank you Daddy! Bye. . ."

I said as I gave him a hug and then proceeded into going outside because I saw Max's jeep pull up in front.

Max's P.O.V.

I was just about to walk towards the Crashdown when I saw that Liz had already stepped outside and was walking towards me.

"Hi Liz."

"Hi."

"Am I late or something?"

"Oh,no. I was just downstairs and I saw that you had already came."

I looked at her and noticed something. . .she looks great (as everytime I see her). The only thing I could say was "Wow."

"Did you say something?"

"I-You. . .you look very. . .beautiful." I was almost stuttering.

Liz gave a little laugh. "No,. . ."

"Yes you are." I said with a nervous smile.

We started to walk to the jeep.

"You really think that?"

"Who wouldn't?"

I saw Liz blush. "I have nothing more to say to that. . ." she said with a slightly stunned look.

I laughed as we got into the jeep. Believe me. . .you're the most beutiful girl I've seen. . ., I thought.

As I started the jeep,I felt Liz looking at me with her jaw hanging open.

It was only then that I realized that I had actually said the thought out loud. . .

Hold it!. . .I think my ears are deceiving me but my eyes are telling me the truth.

My ears say that he said that and I do think it's a lie because I might not have heard correctly. But my eyes say otherwise because if it were all a lie,why would he be looking like that. . .You know that look. . .REALLY,REALLY RED!

Max laughed nervously and said "What?,. . .it's true. . ." with a little shrug.

Am I allowed to faint now?!

At the front door of the Evans' household
Alex's P.O.V.

I'm about to pick Isabel up and I'm really going to have a nervous breakdown.I ring the doorbell and stand back.

A woman as old as my mother opened the door and looked at me. She must be Max and Isabel's mother.

"Yes,. . .may I help you?"

I can hear footsteps rushing down the stairs and a slight pause. "Mom. It's for me." said Isabel from behind the door.

The woman turned her head back inside. "Okay." she answered.

She looked back at me and introduced herself.

"I'm Diane."

"Good evening ma'am. Alex Whitman."

"Oh. Good evening." she said as we shook hands.

"Nice to meet you Mrs. Evans."

"Thank you. . .here comes Isabel. . .good-bye."

"Good-bye." I called back as Mrs. Evans went back inside nd Isabel took her place on the door.

"Alex. . ."

"Hi." I said as she shut the door behind her.

"So,we're going to watch Maria sing tonight." Isabel said as we got into my car.

"Yeah. . ."

"Great. . ."

"The drives not that long. . ."

"Oh. That's good. We won't get late."

"Just what I was thinking. . ." I said as I fumbled around. . . This is going to be so akward. . .

At the entrance of the Cafe' on-stage
Maria's P.O.V.

I walked to the door followed by Michael behind me.

"This place is great." I said while glancing around the place. I've already been here a couple of times to watch Alex play but I never really went there to stay for long.

"It is. . ." Michael said with a satisfied smile.

We stepped inside and Michael gestured to me. "You go ahead. I have to check something out."

I walked over to a table and was surprised to see the couple sitting on the table beside us. I turned over to them.

"Max,. . .Liz?" They turned to look at me and they both smiled.

"Hey,'ria!" Liz said and leaned over closer to give me a little hug. Max waved behind her. I waved back.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Um. . .we're-. . .ask them." she pointed to another couple behind me. I turned my head around to see Isabel and Alex looking at me sheepishly.

"Hey. . .the jig is up. Spill." I said as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"The jig is up?" Michael said with a snort as he came from behind me.

"Why are you guys here?" I said while looking at each and every one of them.

"Don't give them a hard time,Maria. I'll tell you." Michael said with a shrug as he sat down across from me.

"I'm waiting." I said dryly.

"They,are all here to watch you play."

Freeze!. . .what?

"Do repeat the thought." I said as I placed my hands on the table.

"Okay, . . .They are all here to watch you play." Michael said a little slower. Pausing to let the words sink in.

"How?"

"I have a huge set of conspirators with me tonight. . ." Micheal started with his best imitation of a game-show host. "All of them. . ." he said while gesturing to the rest of our friends on the other tables. "helped out with this."

"Remind me to beat you in the head later."

"Why? Aren't you happy?"

"Oh,I am. Believe me. But using our friend as conspirators. . .tsk,tsk,tsk.

"Well. . .the audience awaits you." Michael winked at me and looked at Alex.

"Alex,you being one of the regulars here. . .could you help Maria set-up and introduce her?"

Alex nodded and quickly proceeded into helping me onto the stage and handing me my guitar.

"So that's why you borrowed my guitar. . ." I nodded at him.

"Okay,. . .do you have the songs ready?"

"I'm not sure which songs. . .how many?"

"Probably an hour long. . .how about some of the ones we practiced together. . ."

"Yeah,but which?"

"Hmmm,something you wrote."

"Got any suggestions?"

"You could have your own song on the first track. . ." Alex said while looking at the ceiling thoughtfully.

"Okay. . ."

"How about. . .Your Love,Eveything."

I practically jumped. "Great idea!"

"Okay,you need to play two more. . ."

"I have an idea for the second one. . .but I need to ask you a favor. Can you get the rest of our group mates here?"

BTW,we only has group mates. No band yet. . .we're still planning but it's not official. . .but we do practice together.

"Yeah,. . .I'll try. . .why?"

"I'll tell you later. Just get them here."

"I'll call them now."

"That's it. I'll just think up something for the rest of the songs."

"Great." Alex said as he stepped off the stage and took his cell phone out to make a call to the rest of our group.

"Hope this works. . ." I whisper to myself as I step-up to the front of the stage.

The lights dim down and the spot light shines on me. The others grow silent as start to speak into the mike.

"I'm Maria DeLuca,and for some weird reason,I've been asked to play by one of my friends tonight. So,I won't take any more time and I will finally start." I said as I managed to exhale the breath that I was holding.

"This first song. . .is something I wrote. It's entitled Your Love,Everything."

Liz's P.O.V.

I bet that's a new song from 'Ria. I've never heard it before.

"Okay,here you go. . .oh,and feel free to dance to this one. I describe it as some kinda' slow dance thing. . ." Maria said as she started the intro of her song that consisited of guitar strumming and humming lightly.

"This one's gonna be good." I said as I faced Max.

"I think so too." He said with a smile. "You heard Maria,would you be interested in dancing with me to this one?. . ."

I nodded and we stood up and went over to the front of the stage.

"Let's call Isabel and Alex." I said as I beckoned for the two who were sitting there,casting glances at each other shyly. Alex had just finished his phone call.

"Iz,Alex. Get over here." Max called out to the two of them.

Alex took Isabel's hand and led her over to the area that we were standing on.

Max pulled me closer as we slowly swayed to the beat of the song. I put my arms around his neck and he had his arms around my waist. I looked over at Alex and Isabel who were doing the same.

A small cheer errupted from the little cafe crowd. I watched as a couple more people went by the stage with some partners.

I turned to face the rest of Alex's group. I looked at Rob,one of the guitarists. "I need you guys to play this. I'm sure you know coz' we practiced this a couple of times already."

After another dance to this song,we decided to go back to our table.

As we sat down,I shot a glance at Max who was looking at me with interest.

"What?" I asked,unable to follow through his thoughts.

"Maria's good. . ."

"Uh-huh."

"But those songs kinda brought up the mood."

"Mood?"

"Would you like to go out there with me?. . .I suddenly thought about something."

"Okay. Can we just tell Michael."

"Yeah,sure."

We stood up and went over to Michael's table.

"Mike,we gotta' do something. . .can you tell the gang to meet at the Crash in an hour and a half?" Max said as he stood beside Michael.

"Sure. I'll tell them. Just send messages."

"Yeah. See ya' there."

"Later."

"Later." Max said as he patted Michael on the back.

He,then,turned to me. "Let's get going."

I nod and follow him outside.

Mesmerized Part 15c

Liz's P.O.V.

I followed Max into the jeep.

We drove out to the desert for a while in scilence.

"Where are we going?" I asked while looking at Max.

". . .Into the desert. I need to talk to you."

I nodded. "Okay. We'll talk."

After a few more minutes of driving,and Max finally stopped the jeep. He parked it on the side of the road.

We got down from the jeep and I walked around the area surrounding us,examining the place. I watched Max go to the back of the jeep and he took out something from the floor.

He walked a few meters away from the jeep and started unfolding the object. . .then,he spread the thing on the ground. . .it was a blanket.

"Come over here." He called out to me and then he sat down on it.

I went over and sat down beside Max. I looked at him and noticed that there was an unusually calm expression to him that already seemed like a forced effort. "You know,I always have this blanket and other stuff in the jeep because I sometimes go with Isabel and Michael here." he added with what I think is an officially failed attempt to start a conversation.

"Did you want to talk?" I asked wanting him to just tell me whatever all this is about.

I relaxed into a more comfortable position on the blanket.

"Yes. . .I guess this is a little early,but since Christmas is so close by and the thing with Maria made me wanna go talk to you now."

Max's P.O.V.

I watched as Liz nervously fidgetted around on the place she sat on.

"Is it bad?" she asked with concern,I noticed that there was worry in her eyes.

"No,I don't think so. . ." I willed myself to start the 'talk'. "I want to tell you something. . ." I started.

Liz's P.O.V.

"I want to tell you something. . ." he began.

I feel like crying out!. . .I'm not even sure what to feel!
What does this mean. . .I guess there's no other way than to find out. . .

He continued. "It's been a few weeks of us hanging out,getting to know each other pretty well. . .-I'm not really sure where to begin since this thing I wanted to tell you was just so sudden. . ." Max said with a small laugh.

I forced myself to laugh along with him since I was still unsure on what all of this meant.

"After being with you and being around you for awhile. . ." he went on.". . .a few minutes ago. Back when Maria was singing. . .when we were dancing to the first song. . .it got me thinking. . ."

Now,I'm thoughtless. . .coming up blank here.

"You were thinking of what?" I asked him slowly.

"I w-was thinking. . ." there was a slight shaking to his voice. "I was thinking that I want to ask you-. . .Do you think that you might be ready to go into any kind. . .and I mean any kind of relationship at this moment?" He practically stuttered.

I sat there,fozen in place. "What do you mean?"

"I mean,after what happened to you and Kyle,. . .do you think-" He said as he turned to face me.

". . .that I might be ready for going into any kind of relationship at this moment?" I sorta' repeated what he said earlier.

"Yeah. . .that."

"Um-. . .yes. I think so." I answered as calmly as I could. I turned to face him as well.

I think he was a little surprised that I said yes. I can tell that this definitely was a spur of the moment thing.

"So. . ." he said.

"So. . ." I repeated.

"Do you think that you could be open hearted about the fact that at this very moment,I'm actually asking you to maybe-. . .just maybe get into a 'more than just friends' relationship with. . .um. . .me?" he said with all the sincerity in his gorgeous eyes.

Help!. . .I can't feel myself anymore!. . .I know that I'm hearing this. . .I'm sure I am. . .but am I dead?
Is this just a mere thought in my imagination that manifesed itself a little too far into my concious thoughts? Should I do something?. . .

After a minute of sitting there with (I'm sure is) a blank look,I finally tried to answer. "Yes. . ."

"Huh?"

I laughed. "I'm sorry,where were we again?"

Max laughed as well. "I asked you,and you said yes."

"I did. . .I just didn't think you'd ask me at all."

He frowned. "Why didn't you think so?"

"Well. . .I was thinking that you might not want to get into any kind of a relationship with me because you might be thinking that I'm just some science nerd that,to your misfortune,was partnered with you. . ."

"No,Liz. I'd never say or think that about anyone. Especially not you. These past few weeks with you. . .have been the best. I don't care what Pam and everybody else has to say. I'm happy when I'm with you and I intend to keep what we have now. . ." he said softly.

I'm stunned. "I didn't know that you think about me. . .-us that way. . ." I said.

I felt tears stinging my eyes and I sniffed to keep them at bay.

"You know,. . .I wouldn't have expected this a few months ago. . ." Max said with a smile.

"Me too. . ." I said while smiling back.

"Wait right here." Max said as he stood up and went over to the jeep.

I stared up at the night sky that was full of stars.

A few moments later,music filled the quiet desert night.

Max stepped over to where we had sat a while ago. He extended his hand out to me with a grin. "I'm thinking that this might be the right time to start us with a little dance. . ."

I grinned back and took his hand,following him into the area between the blanket and the jeep.

I could here the music playing in the background as I pulled him closer to me and we started slow-dancing to the song. . .

Mesmerized Part 15c (cont.) Update 3/12

A/N: This is the new part; I’ve finally done it. I made one earlier but this is actually an alternate ending. So here it is, the continuation.

Max's P.O.V.

We ended the dance with a kiss and before we pulled away completely, I've told her what I've wanted to say since the beginning of tonight. So I pulled her into an embrace, leaned forward and whispered into her ear. : "I love you."

Liz smiled and blushed. "I love you." she said and we found ourselves kissing again. And after that enchanting moment, we just sit on the jeep and talk while holding hands.

"Max?" Liz asked and I turned to face her.

"Huh?"

"I think we have to go to the Crashdown."

I checked my watch. She's right. That one-hour's almost done and they might be on their way to the Crashdown.

"We'd better go now." I said while starting the car.

We drove in silence. But not in an awkward silence that can be so uncomfortable. This was the kind of silence that just feels great. I am smiling and I'm sure Liz is doing the same thing.

Liz's P.O.V.

I broke the soothing silence with a question that suddenly came into mind.

"How will we tell the others about us?" I asked Max. I want to tell them but I want help on how I should say it.

"I think we should tell them now so that we don't get too many questions later." Max suggested.

I nodded. "Yeah, that would be a good idea."

We pull up in front of the Crashdown. I observe that the others' cars were already parked at the front.

"I hope we're not that late." I said as Max took my hand and we walked to the Crashdown together.

"Here goes. . ." Max said with a breath as we stepped into the Crashdown.

Max's P.O.V.

When we entered the Crashdown, the first thing we heard was laughter.
I heard Maria saying: "-probably greatest performance yet!".

"Hey guys." I said interrupting whatever conversation was going on.

Maria turned to face us. "Where were you two?" she asked us.

Liz and I looked at each other. I nodded to her. She smiled and replied. “We have something to tell you guys.”

This caught everyone’s attention. Thank goodness both of Liz’s parents aren’t here at the moment. It would be so hard to explain to them now. I’ll have to talk to Liz about it soon though.

Liz looked at me again and I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze to let her know that I’m with her on this. She takes a deep breath and breaks the good news.

“Max and I- we’re together now.” She said. I hugged her.

After that, we watched as the others slowly recovered from the shock they got.

Maria was the first to speak. ”Now?!”

I suppressed a laugh. Liz glared at her. “Maria!” Isabel hissed from where she sat.

Maria shrugged. “I mean, it’s good news but I didn’t think it’d be this soon. . .”

“It came up at the moment.” I said trying to sound non-chalant.

Maria nodded. “Oookay.”

Liz’s P.O.V.

That Maria! I will yell at her the next time I get a chance to!

She came by and gave me a hug. “Way to go, chica.”

Well, maybe I’ll reprimand her later, I’m just so happy now!

After Maria hugged me, she hugged Max too and I think it surprised him. Then, everybody else came up to us with a happy comment. Even Isabel said that we make a great couple.

So far, this is the most wonderful night of my life!

On Liz’s Balcony (about an hour and a half later)
Max’s P.O.V.

After the others left, Liz invited me to sit with her on her balcony. We’re talking now and I ask her. “How will you tell your parents?”

She simply smiled and said, “I can’t think of any way to tell them yet. Soon.”

I nod and say “Yeah, if Isabel doesn’t tell our parents, they’ll probably figure it out themselves. Though my best guess is that Iz will be the one to tell them.” We laugh.

Suddenly, Liz sat up. “Our assignment in Bio!”

“Right.” I said, realizing what she wanted to do. “Now?” I asked her.

“Yeah. We have free time.” Liz said beaming.

“Do you remember what’s on the list?” I asked.

“I’ll go get it inside.” Liz said as she went back into her room to look for the list.

Okay, I wonder how we’re gonna do this assignment.

Liz’s P.O.V.

I went over to my book bag and took out the list of things we were supposed to measure heartbeat on. When I found it, I went through the window and back to where Max was sitting. I sat down beside him.

“We should measure them in fast or moderate/normal.” I stated while reading the list. “Number one-when you’ve been running. Okay, the answer to that one is ‘fast’. Two- when you are at rest, that’s normal.” I said answering the first two questions.

“Now this is going to be the fun part,” I said and caught Max looking at me.

“Fun part?” he asked.

A/N: I’m going to narrate this without P.O.V. so I can express it better.

Liz put down the piece of paper that contained the list. She sat a little closer to Max and put her hand on his chest, right above his heart.

“Number three- when you’re anticipating for something.” Liz said as she leaned forward.

“Oh, that’s definitely fast.” Max said with a nod.

“You having fun yet?” Liz asked tentatively, her hand still on the same position.

“Your right. This is loads of fun.” Max commented and also put his hand on his chest where Liz’s hand is.

They slowly leaned forward. Max cupped Liz’s cheeks with his hands and he started kissing her. The magical moment was cut short though, because after a few seconds, a knock came from the door of Liz’s room. They pulled away from each other immediately.

“Who is it?” Liz asked while trying to hide her breathlessness.

“Honey? Were you asleep?” It was Liz’s father.

“No. I was just sitting around.” Liz answered.

“Can I come in?” he asked.

“Just a second.” She answered.

Liz turned to Max and shrugged. “Call me?” she asked.

“You can expect it.” Max replied as he kissed Liz goodnight.

“Okay, use that to get down from here.” Liz said and pointed to a ladder that leaned on the balcony.

Just as Max was going down the ladder, Liz leaned over to the sides of the balcony, looked at Max and said “Goodnight.”

In which he replied to with another “Goodnight.”

After Max left, Liz went to the door and opened it to see her father standing there and yawning.

“Dad, you look tired.” Liz observed.

“I am. I was just checking up on you.” He said.

“I’m fine, go to bed, Dad. Looks like you need it.” Liz said. Her father nodded and walked away and Liz was left in her room.

Now I’m going to go to sleep and dream about this day and the person who made it so special, -and that person can only be Max Evans.,Liz thought happily as she got ready to go to bed.

Mesmerized Part 16a/Update 5/4/04

Liz

So early in the morning and my phone just rang. I answered it to find out that it was only Maria.

“Hey.” I say.

“You sound unhappy to hear from me.” Maria commented.

“Not really, I just wasn’t expecting you to be the one to call me. But then again, it is quite early and you would be the only one I know who has enough courage to call me.” I say sarcastically.

“Oh, right. You were expecting somebody else. Max maybe.” she stated in a challenging tone. “So when he’s the one that calls you as early as now, he would’ve gotten off the hook.”

“No, that’s not true.” I can feel myself go warm. Good thing Maria isn’t here, otherwise, she would’ve laughed at me.

“What’s with the silence?” Maria asks after a few seconds.

“Nothing. Just being awakened like this, I can’t help but feel a little sleepy.”

“At least you’re awake, I’m coming over.” She says with finality.

“What- why?” I ask.

“Details, chica!” Maria says excitedly.

“N-no. You don’t have to.” I try to protest fast but she’s already hung-up on me.

I sigh wearily. This is going to be looong morning. I hope Maria drags Alex over. He eases the uneasiness of Maria’s third-degree. But knowing Maria, she also has enough courage to bring Alex in this early, especially on a Saturday.

I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth. Then I go into our kitchen for food for the three of us. Then, I go back to my room and sit on the bed.

A few minutes later, the phone rang.

“Maria. What?” I say sternly, expecting it to be Maria on the other end.

“Sorry for calling you this early, Liz.” Max said in concern.

“Oh, hey Max. Sorry, I thought it was Maria… and it’s okay. You didn’t call too early, I’m up anyway.” I say as I feel my heart racing and my face growing red.

Anytime’s never too early for you…

“How are you?” he asks in his oh-so-charming voice.

“I’m good.” He is too sweet! Asking me how I’m doing. “How about you?”

“Fin-…” But before he could finish what he was saying, there was a knock on the door.

“Hold on a sec.” I say to him as I lower the phone and step to the door.

“Who is it?” I ask.

“Us!” Maria’s voice says through the thin wooden door.

I go back to the phone. “Max, I gotta go. Maria’s here with her firing squad.”

“I feel your pain. I’ll text you later, okay?” He asks.

“Okay.” I say. We say our goodbyes and hang up.

Maria knocked again. “Liz, hurry up.”

I rush to the door and open it. Maria steps into the room, Alex right behind her. She looks at me suspiciously.

“Who was that?” Maria asks.

“Huh?” I say trying to give her my best innocent look.

“Don’t toy with me Parker. Your door is practically made out of a plank of wood I heard you talking to someone there.”

“There wasn’t anyone I was talking to.” I said in my last attempt to assure her.

Maria turned to Alex. “Tell me, do you think Liz was talking to someone before she let us in?”

“I have all the proof I need.” Alex answered, jerking his thumb at the door.

Just then, a thought hit me. “My door isn’t that thin.” I say as I close the door, step out in the hall, lean my head to the door and take a listen. There were muffled sounds from the inside.

I go back into the room.

“Maria Deluca, I can’t believe you would stick your ear to my door and listen to me.”

Maria shook her head.

I looked at Alex and he smirked. “She hitched a ride with me this morning and she’s been talking about you and Max the whole time. She thinks you might begin hiding secrets from us since you two are obviously more than friends.” He said frowning in Maria’s direction.

Maria glared at him. “Traitor!” she said as she pointed an accusatory finger at Alex.

Alex just shrugs and goes to sit on my bed where the food is laid. “Isn’t that true, Maria?” Alex says as he starts eating.

I roll my eyes. Talk about being paranoid… “What’s with the paranoia?” I ask Maria.

“Nothing, I was just worried that you wouldn’t tell us anything.” She says innocently.

“Get real, you of all people should know that I’d never keep anything from you or Alex.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, really. We’ve known each other since we were little –and I mean little, kids.” I say, reassuring both of my best friends.

“Group hug!” Maria said.

We reached for Alex and did the group hug that we have been doing for such a long time. A little later, after [what some might call] a sentimental friendship moment, we pull away.

“So what are you waiting for? Tell me about yesterday already!” Maria says as we sit on the bed.

I looked at the two of them and both wore expectant smiles on their face, though Alex tried to suppress his.

“Well… he took me out to the desert and asked if I was over Kyle. I said that I was pretty much over him and then he asked me if I was okay with starting a new relationship with him and I said yes!” I said in one breath.

Alex smiled and so did Maria, but a few seconds later, her smile faltered. “There’s gotta be more that happened last night.” Maria protested.

“Yeah, there was.” I say trying to put suspense in my story.

“What? I’m waiting.” Maria said impatiently.

“and…” I said with a smile.

“and?…” Alex asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Before I could say more, Maria cut in. “Okay, stop it! I know this game. And now is not the time to play it. Now get to the point already, Liz!” she exclaimed.

“Okay, before I get carried away, I’ll tell.” I say with a nod and a dreamy smile that I just can’t seem to get rid of.

“After that, we danced…” I sighed. “then, we kissed and he told me that he loves me. And I say the same.”

Maria grabbed Alex’s hands and they started dancing around the bed.

“You guys are crazy.” I said while watching them giggle and dance.

“How about the two of you? What happened last night while we were gone?”

“Not much really.” Maria said with a shrug as they sat back down in the bed. “Alex didn’t even come close to touching Isabel.” Maria added.

Alex glared at her. “Stop degrading me!” Alex protested.

“Get real! You were staring at her the whole time. If Michael didn’t help with the conversation, you wouldn’t have said anything the whole night.” Maria said with a snort.

“I think that it’s still a little awkward that I asked her out on a date.” Alex reasoned.

My cell phone started beeping with a new text message alert.

“I’ll get that.” I said as I went for my purse to retrieve the cell phone.

Maria and Alex looked at each other and started mercilessly teasing me about Max. “Max and Liz, sitting in a tree…” they started singing.

I groaned. “Not too loud! My parents might hear you.” I chastised them.

They nodded and proceeded to annoy me in lower decibels. I went to my inbox and opened a message from Max. It said:
‘How’s the Maria-thing going?’

I laughed and replied with: ‘Let’s just say, they’re dancing around me right now.’

I sent the message and looked at Maria. “Let’s help Alex.”

“Oh, no.” Alex said with a horrified look.

“Yes.” Maria agreed. “So that he doesn’t freeze like a rabbit in head lights the next time he’s with Isabel.”

“I don’t freeze-up when I’m with her!” Alex protested with a frown.

“No? You should’ve seen him, Liz.” Maria laughed.

Alex just rolls his eyes.

“So it’s settled now, we’re gonna help Alex with his little problem over Isabel.”

“I do not have a problem with her.” He said giving both me and Maria a glare.

Suddenly, I got an idea.

“Let’s go out to shop and have ice cream at the mall.” I say. The two of them smiled.

“That’s a good idea. It is a hot day.” Alex said.

“And I know exactly who to invite.”

“Who?” asked Alex.

I ignored him took my cell phone and texted Max with the message: ‘U busy?’

“You guys finish up those snacks, I’m gonna go get ready.” I say as I open my closet and take out some clothes.

Just before I enter the bathroom, my phone rang.

“Hello?” I say picking up the receiver.

“Hey, I got your message.” Max said at the other end.

“So, you busy?”

“No.”

“Good. Can you meet us at the ice cream shop in the mall?”

“Okay, when?”

“In an hour and…” I say in a whisper “ask Isabel if she wants to come. Alex is going to be there.” I sneak a glance over at Alex’s direction. He was too busy eating. Good.

“Sure. See you there…and, I love you.”

“I love you too.” I say, still whispering.

I hang up and run to the bathroom, trying to hide the smile that might earn me even more questions from Maria.

“What was that about?” Alex asked Maria watching Liz run to the bathroom and hurriedly shut the door.

Maria shrugged. “She was talking to Max on the phone. You didn’t notice because you were to busy pigging out!”

“Oh really?” Alex said as he threw a pillow in Maria’s direction.

“Pillow fight!” Maria squealed with glee as she hurled the pillow back at Alex.

Liz

I step out of the bathroom, ready to go.

“I’m ready!.” I declare while taking my purse.

Alex and Maria grab the empty plates and we stop by the kitchen to leave the plates there.

Then, we go downstairs and into the Crashdown. Seeing my mother there, I walk over to her. “Mom, we’re going to the mall.”

“Okay. See you later.” She said busily tending to some new customers.

We go to Alex’s car and just as we get in, I say: “Oh, and Alex. I just remembered that somebody’s going to be joining us.”

“Who?” Alex asks pulling out of the parking spot and driving towards the mall.

“You’ll see…” I say smiling.

Liz

We walk into the mall’s main entrance. The air was chilly compared to the outside heat of the desert.

We start walking into the direction of the ice cream shop and I casually say to Alex: “Alex…Isabel’s coming.”

At first I thought he didn’t hear me because he kept walking on, but a second later, he did a double take and his eyes went from normal to huge

“What?!” Alex asked, alarmed. “W-w-w-why?” he stuttered.

Maria laughed at him. “Look at you. You can’t even ask a question without screwing up! You need help.”

Alex first glared at her, then turned his deadly gaze to me. “You!…you invited her, didn’t you?” He said practically foaming in the mouth.

“It was for the best.” I shrug.

“If this thing with Isabel goes bad,…I will blame you for the rest of my useless, ruined, pathetic life! –And may it haunt you forever and that you will not be able to sleep at night coz’ you will see me in your dreams, Parker!” Alex said. “Aren’t you supposed to have a conscience?” he added helplessly.

I can’t help but laugh at Alex’s response.

“You’re gonna be fine. We’ll help you out all the way.” I say as we step into the ice cream store and sit into one of the booths.

After ordering, we resume to talking about what Alex needs to do around Isabel.

“Alex, no need to be so frightened about this.” Maria said. “Don’t you believe that we can help you?”

“Gee, I don’t think I have much of a choice Maria.” He responded grimly.

“We’d better start talking about the upcoming meeting, because they might get here soon. –then you’ll be helpless…” I say trying to break any banter that might take place because of Alex’s sarcastic reply.

“This shouldn’t be so hard for you, we’ve been hanging out since forever. I think you already know what girls like. This should be a piece of cake.” Maria commented, shooting Alex a questioning look.

“You to are different. We’re all platonic here. I can tell the two of you anything. Isabel’s a little more different. I don’t think that she’s the type to talk about monthly periods as much as you two do. Plus, you know that my interest for her is on a more different level than friendship.” Alex explains.

Maria snickered.

“Oh Alex, it’s the same thing. I’m sure our tastes have something in common with Isabel’s.” I reason, trying to make Alex see the light of the situation.

“Liz is right. Act normal, be yourself. Everything will be fine.” Maria added.

“We’ll be helping with the conversation if you need it.” I say.

Alex is still a little reluctant, but he’s also more relaxed.

“I guess I could always deprive you two of car hitching rights if everything screws up…” Alex said with a small smile.

“Good, just keep that up. Girls just love humor.” Maria said, cheering Alex on.

“Oh, they’re here!” Alex exclaimed. Max, Isabel and Michael stepped into the shop. He smiled at seeing Isabel. “Oh, and Maria, I was serious about the hitching thing.” He added taking a glance at her shocked face.

Seeing Max approach our table, I couldn’t help but smile. This is definitely a dream come true for me. I feel like I’m in cheesy romance movie, only better.

“Hi.” I say kissing him. “Hi.” He said when we pulled away. “I missed you.” He added. Don’t I have the dreamiest boyfriend ever.

“Me too.” I say

“We brought Mike along coz’ when he heard that Maria was coming, he demanded to come along with us.” Max explained.

“That’s great.” I smile at how Maria will react when she finds out about this later.

I look at the others and how they were already enjoying themselves.

“Let’s go sit over there.” I whisper. Max nods and takes my hand. We walk to the next table.

“You know, I’m just so happy this all of this is happening.” I say looking at the whole group.

“Yeah, just thinking of it would probably not have occurred to me a year ago.” Max said. “I got the girl of my dreams and there’s nothing more I can ask for.”

I can feel my blood rushing. My heart is trumpeting loudly and I have to wonder if he can hear it. It’s practically deafening.

“I love you for saying that.” I say being unable to control the wide grin on my mouth.

“and I love you for being everything I ever wanted.” He says leaning in closer for a kiss.

If you asked how that kiss went, I’d have to tell you that Max is the only man that kisses me that way. It’s like I’m gonna start hyperventilating at any second now. He takes my breath away, just like that. He has been doing that (although he isn’t really aware of it) ever since the first time I ever saw him, but kissing him is an entirely different thing.

After we kiss, I can’t help but feel good about myself. It’s that way with him. It feels like I don’t want anything more. It feels like true love. Not just true love, -the only love. It’s the best feeling ever. I’ve never felt this way before. Different. A good kind of different. Happy. And most of all- I feel like I’m the only one he’ll ever love coz’ I’m pretty sure he feels the same.

A/N: Okay, this is the last P.O.V. part. From the next chapter onwards, I’ll be writing in a more narrative form.

A/N: So now, we’re reaching a middle [or almost middle] part of the story… my prediction (though I’m not sure of,) is that there might be faster ending then how this story began.

As I said before, P.O.V.s will be taken out completely. And also, I’m trying out a new style of writing (for this story), and so:

Mesmerized Part 17

Months. Those months have gone by so perfectly and with so much love. Christmas. Christmas and a great new year. Happiness, happiness for all those months.

News. It happened on a Wednesday.

Liz sat happily leafing through a magazine that Maria let her borrow. Pausing for a page break, she looked up and saw Max walking towards her, a grim expression on his features. In all of those months, she never saw him like that.

Standing up, she set aside the magazine and gave her boyfriend a sweet kiss. His response was a weak one that was also new to Liz.

“Something wrong?” she asked, worry being evident on her face.

He led her to sit again and holding her hand, he answered her question. “Do you remember my aunt from New York? The one I told you about that was pretty close to our family? –she died.”

Liz gasped. “I’m sorry.” She said quietly. Remembering how fond he was of that aunt of his, she could only imagine how much grief he was feeling. “How are you feeling now?” she asked.

“I’m fine. I just keep thinking about how much we’ll miss her.” Max said, waves of sadness in his voice. “We’re leaving for New York tomorrow so we can make it to the service.”

Liz nodded. “When are you coming back?” she asked.

“Sunday or Monday.” Was his simple answer.

“Okay, if you feel like talking, I’m here.” She said giving him a hug. Her voice was like a soft whisper.

“Thanks. I have to go see Isabel now, I’ll call you.” Max said. He kissed Liz and started walking back through the halls.

And so Max and his family set-off to New York the next day. With a short but meaningful phone conversation with Liz, he told her that he would be okay and that he’d call to let her know how and what they were doing.

Liz went to school and sat through her classes, bored.

When lunchtime finally came, she decided to join Maria, Michael and Alex for lunch but making a quick stop into the ladies room first. –Unaware of the tall blonde in a cheerleader’s uniform following her there.

Liz took a paper towel from the dispenser hanging on the wall. The door swung open and in walked Pam Troy. Liz nervously observed her actions from the corner of her eye. She saw Pam look around the room and check if anyone was in the stalls. Seeing that no one was there, Liz thought that she would enter one, but instead, she turned to look at Liz.

I have to get out, now, before there’s any trouble. Liz thought dumping the used paper towel into the nearest waste basket. She walked swiftly to the door, only to be blocked by Pam’s skinny frame.

“Liz! Where are you going?” Pam asked, an awfully sweet smile on her lips.

“Lunch.” Liz answered.

Pam’s eyes narrowed and Liz knew that she was in big trouble. “Where’s Max?” she asked tartly.

Liz tried her best to calm the panic that was erupting everywhere. “H-his aunt died. His whole family had to go up to New York to attend her service.” She answered.

“Oh. They did?” Pam said, not a trace of sadness for Max’s pain in her voice. “And where does this leave you?” she asked, using a tone that made Liz uncomfortable.

“I’m…here.”

Pam tapped her foot on the floor impatiently. “So as not to waste time, I’ll get right to the point.” She said sharply. “I’ve seen how you’ve been doing with him. You guys seem very happy.” She observed.

Liz looked at her. Not really knowing if she was expected to comment on any of the things Pam was saying. “I’ll tell you what I think of it.” She continued. “I don’t like it. That’s right, I don’t like how it looks. I don’t think I have to explain to you why, do I?”

Liz shook her head. Pam smirked and put a hand on her shoulder. Her sharp nails dug into her skin and Liz could feel her skin being scratched.

“I’ll tell you as a warning or maybe a threat if you’d take it that way. I want you to break up with him. Give your own reasons. Tell him you’re not good enough.” Pam said tightening her grip.

At her statement Liz forgot about her knife-edged nails and was only plagued by the thought of having to break up with Max over no-reason.

“I can’t do that.” She said simply.

“Yes you can. You’re a geek. You’re nothing, he’s everything. I want to you to think about it. Then do it. Coz’ if you don’t, there’ll be problems.” Pam said through gritted teeth.

Liz thought to protest, but the grip on her shoulders was almost unbearable.

“Got it, bitch?” Pam asked. Nor really waiting for an answer, she smiled evilly and let go of Liz. “I’ll be seeing you.” She said in a voice that froze Liz’s blood. Then, she opened the door and left.

Liz ran to the nearest mirror and looked at the damage Pam’s talons had caused her. She found out that her shoulders were almost at the point of bleeding.

She looked at how much her face had paled at what Pam had told her. How was she supposed to stay away from the person she loved the most?

In utter confusion, Liz stepped out of the comfort room and onto the hall that lead to the lunchroom. Seeing her friends waving to her, Liz walked steadily to them making sure that they didn’t notice how shaken she really was.

Mesmerized Part 18

Liz sat at their regular table. She looked at each and every one of her friends, making sure that they didn’t notice her nervousness. Luckily, Maria was preoccupied with something Michael did. Liz soon found out what.

“You will not believe what Mike just did!” Maria exclaimed, giggling.

Liz looked at her questioningly. Maria smiled. “He joined a school production.” At this Alex and Maria laughed loudly. Michael glared at them. “It’s not funny!” he said.


“That’s the sweetest thing any guy has ever done for me.” Maria said, her face turning serious. Michael looked at her with disbelief. “You think I did that for you?” he asked. Maria nodded. “Of course, that’s the only reason you’d do something even close to that.” Michael snorted. “No, I could do it if I wanted to.” He argued. Maria rolled her eyes. “Whatever.” She said. Michael narrowed his eyes at her, but Maria just smiled and said. “Thank you, baby.” Michael sighed and they shared a sweet kiss.

When they came back to reality, Alex had a smirk on his face. “Don’t mind us. We’re just the unfortunate spectators of the PDA.” He commented. “Shut up.” Maria said. Michael smiled victoriously. Liz laughed, but stopped when she noticed Pam passing by their table and giving her an evil scowl. Maria, and everybody else in the table, noticed Liz’s horrified look.

“Liz, come with me.” Maria said. Liz’s eyes widened “Why?” she asked. “Now.” Maria said firmly. Liz blushed and followed Maria. And Alex and Michael shared a knowing look.

When they reached the cafeteria door, Maria immediately shifted into worry-mode. “What did Pam do?” Maria asked, already frowning.

“It’s nothing.” Liz said, trying to deny the obvious truth.

“Liz!” Maria exclaimed. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll confront her for you.” Liz knew what Maria was capable of, so instead of covering it up, she gave up and confessed. “She told me that she didn’t want to see me and Max together. I don’t know what to do, because I can never leave him. It’s not possible” She said.

Maria already saw her helplessness and she hated it. “Pam is NOT going to tell you who you’re supposed to be with! If she doesn’t want you to be with him, who the hell cares? It’s your decision to make. She can just stuff her fucking salad down her strapless dress for all you could care!” she hoped to give Liz all the support she needed. “If you’re scared of what she might do to you or Max, don’t worry about. Nothing’s gonna happen, we’ve got your back. Me, Michael, Alex and Isabel. She can’t hurt you. –especially if she knew how bad Isabel can damage her life here.” Liz nodded with a new kind of assurance.

“Good.” Maria said. She was got that she got through to Liz. She knew how scared she was of Pam. That girl can only be too mean to people. “C’mon, let’s get back to lunch.” Maria said. They walked back to the inside of the cafeteria, not really knowing what Pam had in store for them

Mesmerized Part 19

Pam stood in a corner watching Isabel Evans. She had never been close to the girl, and thank goodness for that. Otherwise, she would have never even been able to pull a stunt like the one she was about to start. She made a mental note to steer clear of Isabel.

That day, everything was back to normal. The Evans family was back in Roswell and they were all feeling up to it now, even if they were still a little sad for the death of their beloved aunt.

Liz met up with Max that morning, and Liz noticed that Max was doing so much better then.

Pam noticed this too, and she had used this to plan her attack on the happy couple.

She had run through this a thousand times before. All she had to do was have Max in the eraser room with her at a certain time, and her accomplices would do the rest.

Max was the perfect gentleman. Everyone knew that. Even if he had the reputation of a jock, he was the one that actually resembled a human being. Courteous in every way, he was dubbed ‘The Best Boy’, since he was not only good, but simply the best.

And this was where Pam’s plan interlaced with reality. She knew that the he was a favorite of some of the teachers. And a dusty eraser would do the trick for him to be sent out of the classroom and told to un-dust the erasers. By that time, Pam would already be skipping class and waiting for him.

And the rest, that was where the plan culminated into a:
1)A marvelous ending [for Pam].
2)or… Spending more time on a plan B.

Max sat in class, thinking about a math assignment that he had yet to finish, when the English teacher called on him. She gave him a brief request of dusting out some over-chalked erasers. Max wasn’t happy about the idea of wasting time on the erasers, but complied anyway.

He sped through the halls still thinking about Math when he came to a stop in front of the eraser room. He went inside and almost didn’t notice Pam standing there. She was dusting erasers as well.

“Hey,” he quietly said in acknowledgement to Pam’s presence. Pam ignored him, and he didn’t mind. The last thing he wanted was Pam’s attention.

Max didn’t notice, as he dusted, that Pam’s vision was centered on the door. She was waiting for a signal, one small signal. -And there it was...

And in a heart beat, Pam half-tore open her blouse and jumped Max just as Sally Sinthen entered the room with Liz Parker.
