It seems she's reading Zan now, the other 'me.' He likes to watch her dance? I bet she's a great dancer when she's not ill, like this. But why would he feel guilty about it? Did he do something to cause this?
"Yes," I tell Serena, gently. "The girl is broken. You're broken. We want to try to help you." I want desperately to ask her about other things, but helping her is the priority.
Suddenly, I hear a voice and I realize that someone new has joined us. It's Kyle and he sounds very confused. “So I’m guessing I did miss something good uh? What’s going on?” he asks.
I turn to face him, without moving or even getting up. I'm still focused on Serena and I hope the newcomer doesn't distress her. "Hey, Kyle," I say. "Yeah, there are a few more of us. They've come to us for help."
I don't bother with any further explanations just then. Instead, I turn my attention back to Serena, hoping this interuption hasn't distressed her. "Kyle's a friend," I tell her gently, before asking her the key question. I don't know if she'll know the answer, but I try anyway. "How do we fix the broken girl?"

"Yes," Max says to Serena and he seems so sincere but I have to keep my guard up. They can’t be trusted. Growing up where we did you learn not to trust anybody, even your own family at times. "The girl is broken. You're broken. We want to try to help you."
Another boy comes into the room but he seems to know the others so I don’t blast him. He’s kind of cute in a cornball kind of way. . “So I’m guessing I did miss something good uh? What’s going on?” he asks
"Hey, Kyle, Yeah, there are a few more of us. They've come to us for help." Max says "Kyle's a friend, How do we fix the broken girl?" he asks Serena. She looks a little skittish but at least she’s trying to focus on the here and now.
“He’s a deceiver.” She says and I wonder who she’s talking about…Max? Kyle? Khivar? God I wish we could get some kind of straight answer from her. “Mirror can fix broken pieces.”
She says and I go sit beside her and gently take her hand. “But who is your mirror Serena?” I ask her. She turns to look at me and for a brief moment she seems like the old Serena.
“She doesn’t want to stand in the way of his destiny, but she doesn’t realize you chose your own destiny.” She says.

Zan
Max said a distracted "Yeah" before turning to Serena. Instantly, as if by instinct, I clenched my fists and prepared myself to pounce on him. But his intentions were different.
"Serena? I'm sorry I scared you," he said mildly, now crouched next to her.
"It’s not supposed to feel this way. It’s not supposed to hurt this way,” she murmured, her voice barely audible. Something in brain clicked- a memory. A memory of her and Ava singing a song . . . All at once, the guilt consumed me again. It was not supposed to hurt at all.
Then she turned to me, catching me by surprise. She locked gazes with me for just a moment before turning back to stare at the floor. “Lost in the woods…broken. The girl is broken. Guilt consumes him because of the broken girl…he likes to watch her dance.”
She knew. She knew that I blamed myself. Did she blame me too? She should.
. . . he likes to watch her dance.
Yes, Serena, I like to watch you dance. I like to watch you dance like a normal girl again, twirl to the music with the grace of a swan. Yes. I like to see your dress sway, your feet moving in gentle steps, you eyes bright with excitement. I like to watch all of that. I'd like to watch it again.
Out of nowhere came another teenager, looking quite uneasy. Max acknowledged him, so it was okay- he was in the circle.
"Kyle's a friend," he told Serena, as if trying to reassure her. It was a gesture that I appreciated, though I wasn't about to admit it. He went on to ask her, "How do we fix the broken girl?"
“He’s a deceiver. Mirror can fix broken pieces,” Serena replied. He. Who was he? There were so many he's in the room. There were also he's outside the room, like Khivar. Which he?
“But who is your mirror Serena?” Ava asked her patiently.
“She doesn’t want to stand in the way of his destiny, but she doesn’t realize you chose your own destiny.” She was talking about her double. Serena's answer left me all the more confused, but perhaps it meant something to the others. I hoped it did . . .
Talk of destiny, all that . . . Destiny had become a part of our lives, so it was certainly part of our dupes' as well. For some reason, the metaphorical usage of mirror sounded somewhat appropriate. It seemed almost like our relationship before this, Serena and I. Her mirror had to be involved with mine. And from what I could make of it, there was electricity sparking between Max and Liz.
"Does that mean anything to you?" I asked Liz, unable to keep the hopeful tone out of my question. "Anything, anything at all."

“You don’t remember? You’ve been warned before…stubborn king can look upon lies rather listen to what his heart tells him….Mirrors, mirrors everywhere.” Serena looks around the group before her gaze finally reaches me.
Her explanation makes no more sense to me than the orginal words, but they do cause further shivers to run down my spine, shivers of fear and uncertainty...
And then something hits me... Serena... I don't know how the name didn't connect before now... Serena... Future Max mentioned a Serena... I swallow nervously and look around again. Could this really mean...? I try and stand, but my legs don't seem to get the message from my brain and are shaking like jelly. Sinking back down onto the steps, I just sit there, and must space for a while because as Max squeezes my hand, I realise that he must have stood at some point...standing between me and Serena now, his other hand reaching for his sister.
"We're not going to let it repeat," I hear him promise. "I won't let them kill you again."
His words cause another shiver to run down my spine, talking of killing and intimating death...
Zan echoes his sentiments, before trying to explain that to his best knowledge, the healing didn't give Serena powers... Or at least, that's what I think he's saying, until he continues and my brow creases in confusion. 'This'...this would seem to be her powers, so I don't really undertsand what he's saying... I have this faint impression of something lying under the surface, but I just don't understand...
'She's gonna be a friend of yours one day' Future Max's words play over in my head and somehow I know that he's right...
There's more to this than meets the eye, that much I'm sure of, but something tells me not to ask at the moment... Zan seems distracted, as he looks over at her again, and this time I'm more certain I'm not imagining it... There's something in his gaze, something that maybe anyone else would miss, but I've seen that look before, in Max's eyes...
"As to how we can find out for sure whether Liz is or isn't your Second . . . there really isn't a surefire way, not that I know of. Your protector should know, but from what I understand, we won't be able to rely on him for answers. But . . . maybe Serena . . . maybe Serena has the answer, somewhere in there,"
I look over at her, taking in the sight of the girl who could hold the answers... Her words made a lot of sense - more than most would think - you just have to know what she is talking about... Did that really mean that I'm mixed into all this, that I'm involved...? Nacedo said I had nothing to do with them, didn't belong there, but then he said a lot of things, and he killed a lot of people, so maybe we should just forget what he said...
Max seems to think so, as he states that Serena seems to have confirmed their suspicions... He goes on to ask what made her like that, before then turning to me, and asking something I'm not sure I ever thought I would hear come from his mouth... Do I have powers...? He rubs my hand gently, and it's so strange, because despite the fact that everything is so crazy, and I don't understand half of it, in another way things feel more right now than they have in weeks... I feel more at home right now, than I have since that night I lied and told Max I slept with Kyle...
“Not sure about anything because you let your eyes deceive. Deceiving eyes, shouldn’t listen to them, should look inside not outside. Stupid, boy king.” Serena speaks again in riddles, looking round the room and walking over to the alien autopsy exhibit... I can't hear everything that she's saying, but I get the jist and I feel Max stiffen, dropping my hand before before going after her, I can almost feel his pain - not in an alien way, but in a pureply human sense... It kills me that he had to go through that...all because of me, because Nacedo took me and he came after me... Maybe he should have left me there...
"Stop it!" He grabs her arm, pulling her off the table. "What are you doing? Even Liz doesn't know these things. Stay out of my head!"
I want to go over, but I know that's not my place and before I can decide what to do, Ava slaps Max, yelling at him for what he did and even going as far as to threaten... I watch Max, turning and looking at Tess, and then back at him. He's hurting, I know, but if I go over maybe that will just make it worse...it's not my place anymore, it's hers...
Meanwhile Zan is over by Serena, trying to calm her, but it doesn't seem to do any good...
Tess eventually speaks up, although what she says surprises me as she instructs Max to apologise to Serena...
Max nods, approaching, but before he can do anything, Zan now charges him, throwing him up against the wall and threatening further harm... I look around, half expecting Michael to come along and throw him off but of course he's outside, away from all this... Maybe that's best when it comes down to it...
Max apologises to Zan, and Zan seems to calm down, trying to return to the earlier conversation by reminding me of the question Max asked me earlier, looking at me expectantly, obviously waiting for an answer. I swallow and shake my head. "N-not that I know of..." I respond softly, trying to resist the urge to go to Max right now. I can't do this...we can't be...
I don't know if Max hears me as he's kneeling down to Serena now, apologising to her too.
“It’s not supposed to feel this way. It’s not supposed to hurt this way.” She says, and I think she's more speaking to herself than anyone else... THen she looks around, focusing on Zan before speaking again. “Lost in the woods…broken. The girl is broken. Guilt consumes him because of the broken girl…he likes to watch her dance.” She says a small smile on her lips.
I look away, feeling almost as though I'm intruding on a private moment there.
Luckily perhaps, that's when Kyle interrupts, coming down the stairs, and I see the look of confusion in his eyes I'm sure I was mirroring not half an hour ago... He asks what's going on and Max intoduces him as a friend, just saying that the others came for our help before asking Serena how we 'fix' her...
"He's a deciever..."
As usual her words could hold many meanings, but her next ones seem to come across loud and clear. "Mirror can fix broken peices..."
Of course that leaves the question of who the 'mirror' is...?
Ava goes to sit by her, asking exactly that and the response causes me to bite my lip.
“She doesn’t want to stand in the way of his destiny, but she doesn’t realize you chose your own destiny.” She says.
Destiny... Max told me exactly the same thing...but I didn't believe him... And now... FutureMax said it had to be, but now I really don't know... All I do know, is that I think we finally got out answer...
Zan looks at me, asking if it means anything to me and I in turn look over at Max and stand, crossing the room and approaching Serena hesitantly. "How, Serena...h-how c-an I help you...?" I ask her softly, my voice shaking a little, which is hardly surprising considering everything that's been said... "H-how does the mirror fix the broken pieces...?"

"He's a deciever." she said. All that talk about deception, especially when she was looking at me, had me wondering. I was somehow suspecting that she either meant Liz and the way she'd slept with Kyle, or maybe that she was hiding powers from me, or she meant Zan and his crew, that they weren't being completely honest in why they were here. But I haven't seen anything so far to gainsay his story and I was beginning to think it was Liz, afterall. But she says He's a deciever. Not She. Does she mean Zan afterall? Or is she talking about someone decieving Zan now, and my deciever could be someone-else?
Ava comes close and takes Serena's hand, so I take that as my cue and I back away. I don't want to alarm them again.
She talks about a mirror fixing the pieces -- her mirror. Clearly, she's talking about the other second-in-command, and that seems to be Liz. That's what Zan said when he got here. The other second is the one who can fix her.
When Ava asks who that is, Serena confirms it. Her words about destiny sum up many of my conversations with Liz over the last six months. She doesn't have to use a name. I know exactly who she means.
"But it's more than that, isn't it?" I say quietly, mostly to myself, although the thoughts are directed to Serena and Liz. If Liz has been in my head the way Serena has ...
Liz gets up now, approaching Serena and taking ownership of the role she's been given. She doesn't argue or protest; she merely asks how. I can't help but feel proud of her. She so much stronger than most would suspect. She's not just any teenager. She's a smart and completely amazing person. Her future will be just as amazing, and it should be the one she planned ... Molecular biologist at MIT or Harvard... I can't take that from her. It's not right...
Right now, 'though I can do nothing but stand back and watch. I hope she can help Serena, although what comes after that is anybody's guess...

Liz comes over to us, she looks so scared but yet determined. I guess I would be scared too, truth be told we don’t really know how this whole thing with Serena works. Aeidon once told me his and Serena’s people didn’t originate on Antar, that they had been brought there centuries before as slaves. So Serena’s powers and abilities are still a mystery to us.
"How, Serena...h-how c-an I help you...?" Liz asks more than a little nervous. "H-how does the mirror fix the broken pieces...?" she asks and its as if she’s accepting her place, like she’s stepping up and embracing her fate, the same way Serena did. But maybe there is a way.
“I think you have to connect with her, you get inside her mind. Once your there I really have no freakin’ clue, I guess you’ll just know. If you can connect with her at all will prove that you’re the Second. Since she’s been like this none of us have been able to get through to her, even with Lonnie’s powers.” I say
“Our protector mentioned one time that him and Serena’s predecessor weren’t originally from Antar, that their race was from another planet and were brought to Antar centuries before as slaves. So we really have no clue what the differences are.”
“I think the best way to get inside her head is to take your hands and place them on either side of her face like this.” I say showing her by putting my hands on either side of Serena’s face and placing my thumbs over her temples. “Then just try and meet her eyes. After that it’s up to you.” I say looking up at the girl who might be able to save my friend. “It’s time to wake up Liz.”

"Mine," He states firmly.
"I rode the bike, and I've got my extra helmet, so you can ride with me,"
He replies gesturing toward the bike. Yay! I love riding with him. The wind blowing in my hair, The feel of my body pressed against his hard one, It causes my sensations to run amuck whenever I'm near him.
"Sounds like a plan. I told my mom I was staying with Liz so we won't have to worry about that."
"Okay, That's good news," I say, placing my hand around her waist as I lead her towards the bike. I throw my helmet on and hand Maria the other one, before swinging one leg casually over the cycle.
I like riding on my motorcycle with Maria; it feels nice to have her small arms wrapped around my waist. And the feeling of the adrenaline from driving that fst with the wind at your back is heart pumping. I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have my motorcycle.

Okay, I have never dated a guy for his ride before ,but if I didn't love ichael (which I totally do) I'd still be in love with his bike. With the wind whipping through my hair I feel like we are finally free of all the alien caous. When we ride it's not Michael me and two worlds. It's just Michael and I the way it was meant to be. Uninhibited and unappolegatic.

Once Maria gets on the bike, I zoom off, probably faster than I should be going, and I drive to the apartment. The cool air relaxes me, kind of like Maria's oils destress her, and by the time we're there, I'm just looking forward to spending the night with my girlfriend, the whole dupes business at the back of my mind.
I get off the bike after parking next to my apartment, and turn back to help Maria off. "So, what do you want to do?" I ask, giving her my arm for support. It's a pretty big bike.

"So, what do you want to do?" he asks, offering his arm for support. I use it to hop down.
"Hmmmm... Well mom is out of town not off the planet so that rules out a couple of things I've been wanting to do."
I reply giving hi a sexy wink.
"I guess you could make me dinner. I'm starving." I stick my lower lip out in full pout mode.
"Spagehtti?" I bite my lower in anticipation of his answer.
