Chapter 11

Max had told everyone what Liz told him and they agreed to meet in the desert as Liz told them. They all gathered there at the same time. Max drove Isabel in his car, Michael Maria on his bike, Sheriff drove Kyle and Tess. They all waited here, now, for Liz to come. Finally a came pulled over, it wasn’t Liz’s. Max told them to hide, they did. He kept watching, it was a man and two girls with brown hair. Finally one came out in front, wearing jeans and a simple blue t-shirt, he was sure that it was Liz, despite the bit too much walking. – “Max?”- he heard her voice and then got up. Everyone else did as he did after he waved his hand. – “A true leader.” - she said with a smile and then waved back to the girl and the guy. – “I know this will be strange but it’s warning that from no one, you shouldn’t trust anyone, specially not your look-a-likes!”- she said to them, looking at Isabel mostly.

Zan and the girl came out. Max noticed the outfit that Liz wore this morning and then looked at the one before them. He remembered how Liz said she’d never wear that kind of thing again so he turned to the closer one. – “What’s going on, Liz?”- and she just started laughing. Seconds later, she walked over to Zan and made out with him.

The real Liz just shock her head once as she saw what Val did. – “Love bird! Get a room you too. On second thought, no room!”- She stepped from the two and to Max. – “Max, I really hoped you would recognize me, despite the stupid wardrobe. . . “ – and Val had something to say to that. – “Hey, speak for yourself, cowgirl!”- Liz just laughed.

“What’s going on here?” – Isabel but in since Max was too much into thinking of the two Liz’s. Liz turned to her. – “Ava said Rath and Lonnie killed Zan. They thought that that’s what happened but they didn't count on a healer!”- she said and pointed at Val who waved at them. Zan kept his hands around her waist.

“So there’s two of you? What are you?” – Tess’s question came into the spot. Val’s eyes glew. Liz could almost feel it, she looked at Val. – “Calm down, Val.”- and after that she turned to Tess. – “We’re aliens too. Slaves of the king and princess. Actually, we’re just Velandra’s slave.”-

“The hell we are. Haven’t you figured anything out from the dreams, missy? We’re are heiress! No, we are queens of our world. The throne is ours!” – Val snapped and walked next to Liz. It clearly got Liz’s attention. She turned to look at her. – “No, you don’t get it. What our told us, in the end. How it’s Zan’s throne now. We lost. His father did a crime and he can’t be punished. The only way this is going to end we if renounce it, Val. We have to. Or they will die. The war and we will all die.”- Liz kept talking. Val refused to listen, as so did Tess. Isabel, Max and Michael kept close attention to each word Liz said, maybe even believed her.

“Girls, please.” – Zan cut it. Isabel was surprised how he didn’t have that New York accent that Lonnie and Rath had. –“There is no need for a fight. Right now, you’re here. Khivar is up there. While it’s like that, there point in fighting. Specially not with yourself. It looks stupid, princess.”- he told both of them, with the last line referring to Val. It was the way he liked calling her. She rested her head on his shoulder, she was tired and sick. – “Val, go. You don’t want to mess up your prefect outfit, right? Zan, go with her.” – she ordered him. He only nodded and walked a bit further with Val who pretty soon threw up.

Max walked to Liz as they both looked at Val. – “What’s wrong with her?”- he asked his question as he returned his gaze to Liz. She looked at him. – “She’s pregnant, Max. Because of the earth’s speed that is much much faster then Antar’s, a month will be a week. She’s going to be giving birth in about 7 or 8 weeks.”- everyone gathered around her. They didn’t believe what they were hearing.

“You’re serious?” – Tess butted in. Liz looked at her and nodded. Val and Zan came back by this time and noticed all the looks on them. As they stood next to Liz again, he leaned forward and whispered to her. – “So you told them?”- she nodded, but her eyes were on Max.

“This is great. Just great. Just we need. A bastard. From someone considered to a slave and a king!” – Tess started shouting. Isabel asked her to keep her voice down but she refused. Suddenly, she felt like she was chocking, she grabbed her neck as she fell to the ground. Max rushed to her, tried to heal her.

“Val! No!!” – he could hear Liz’s screaming. He looked at Val who had her hand stretched out and pointed at Tess with her eyes as a mad man’s eyes. Liz ran to her and tried to pull her hand to the side, to distract her bit it didn’t work. –“Use your powers, Liz. The electrical one.”- she heard a voice to her side. Looking in that direction, she saw Zan next to her.

She took a deep breath. She could hear everyone saying something, trying to save her, she focused her look to Val and tried hard. She couldn’t not at first but suddenly she felt a rage of light ball from her hand. She reached out and it hit Val. The contract with Tess was broken, Liz could hear her breathing. Everyone else was silent, in shock of what Liz could do.

But Liz had her focus on Val. And Val was on the ground with her eyes on Liz. And Liz’s hand pointed to her. She raised her as well as a light ball went to Liz. Liz fired back only a second later and the two met half way. Liz tried to keep her focus on the light ball but Val was much stronger. Suddenly, the light ball turned into one and got a bit fatter. It was white and green, beautiful. Maria’s eyes widen of its beauty.

But Liz couldn’t see that with her mind focused on Val and the light ball. Suddenly a form appeared in the center of the light ball. Val’s and Liz’s eyes fell to that. It was a beautiful woman with long brown hair and brown eyes. Both knew right away, it was the queen Laqua, it was their mother. She was like a vision.

She looked at Val and then at Liz, silently at first. She didn’t look at anyone else because she couldn’t see them; her link was only to her daughter(s). Suddenly she began to speak. Everyone hear her, she had the most beautiful voice, both Liz and Val thought. – “Enough, my beautiful Kivana Eli. You are not your enemy. The true one must be brought to justice. Saved or pushed, of his own choice. You have made a promise, my daughter, now you must keep it. ” – she said. And then she looked at each one more time and disappeared.

The light ball was still there between them, sparkling. The both tightened their first and it disappeared. A tear was on Liz’s left check, and on Val’s right check. They were truly one. They walked two steps forward, to each other and hugged. – “I’m sorry.” – they said at the same time and then looked at everyone around them. Val let go of Liz and fell into Zan’s arms. Liz felt the slight jealousy again since there were no arms she could fall to. Or that was what she thought.

Michael walked in front of all of them and hugged her. Max felt stupid for doing it first. He turned his focus to Tess who was stunned by all of this. He reached his hand for her to stand up and once she did, she hugged him. Liz saw it but she continued to hug Michael. She loved having him as a friend. – “Are you ok?”- she heard him say and nodded.

“We should get back, guys.” – Liz started after drying her tears. – “Who was that?”- Isabel’s voice came behind Kyle. She moved forward and looked at Liz who only smiled. – “That was our mother. The great queen Laqua of the Ryctor world. She’s some kind of a Goddess.” – a voice behind Liz. Val looked at Isabel and only winked.

They all turned to their cars and left. Max helped Tess into the car. Before Liz came into Val’s car, she looked at them. Sighing, she made a weak smile. Zan saw her look; seeing what made her sad he looked at her, opening the doors for her. – “Hey, don’t worry about it. What is ment to be always happens. Val told about that visit of yours.”- and he smiled to her. She got into the car, Val was in the back. She smiled back at him. He was a nice guy. He drove her back home.

Chapter 12

It was Monday. It had been about a week since Val and Zan came into the picture. The gang was not very used to them. But they tried, for Liz. They finally realized that she was right. She was their friend, with a confusing past life, and another self.

Val sat in chemistry class, to her the most boring thing a live. Next to her was Max. She checked him out from time to time. He was cute. But when he would look at her, she would look away. As the teacher started writing something on the board, Max leaned to her a bit. – “So, what do you think Val and Zan are up to now.”- he whispered to her. She looked at him, confused. He could really be naïve at times. –“I wouldn’t know. If you wana know, as them, Max.” – her replay was sharp. He moved away a bit but it was too late. The teacher saw them.

“Miss Parker, I hope nothing is more important then this.” – Val looked at her, confused and into the blackboard. Again, her eyes fell to the woman. – “Well, do you know the answer?” – the teacher insisted. Val looked at Max and then down. This part of schooling never worked for her. She was always a more musical or artistic. She assumed that Liz got the real brains because of it. The teacher saw she didn’t know and she turned to someone else.

Max leaned to her again. – “We’re repeating, Liz. You explained this to me ages ago.”- he told her, confused. But he didn’t hold it against her. After all she had been through the past few weeks; there was no surprise in it.

The class ended. Max wanted to hurry after her but as he exited the classroom, he couldn’t find her anywhere. He looked around once or twice and then walked the other way.

The doors of the classroom moved forward and Val stickled her head out. She didn’t want to deal with him today. She would leave this one to Liz. It was lunch time so she walked out. She saw Isabel sitting alone. She walked over to her. – “This seat taken?”- she asked her. Isabel looked at her and shook her head, Val quickly sat down.

“So, how come you’re the chilliest around, Isabel?” – Val’s question came as a surprise to Isabel. She would have returned to the book she was reading but she stayed focused on her. – “Sorry?”- she wanted her to ask again. She noticed that she didn’t have any lunch. – “Did you forget lunch?”- she asked her, while waiting for an answer to the first question.

“Lunch? Don’t eat at this time a day. How else would I keep my figure? You knew this stuff, sweetie.” – Val told her. Isabel looked at her, confused. She was wearing Liz’s clothing so she couldn’t really tell. And she still thought it was Liz. She leaned forward. -“Don’t tell me that you think Liz, Isabel. Just like Max.” – she said with a nasty smile on her face.

“You’re not Liz? Valerie?” – Val nodded, with the same smile on her face. – “Where’s Liz?”- she asked her. Both Val and Liz had been telling stories on how close they were in that other life but Isabel didn’t know her that much, not even to trust her. – “In the desert. Zan took her. She wanted him to see the view.”- she blinked to that; got up and walked away. Isabel’s face showed a bit of a fear. She really didn’t just trust anyone.

She looked around and saw Max coming out. She took her stuff and walked to him. – “Max, we need to talk!”- she said, as she grabbed his hand and walked to the side with him. She told him what Val told her. – “I was in there, with her. Talking to her. And I had no idea. ”- he said. He was upset. He loved Liz, he really did but he still continued recognize her. –“We have to go.”- he said and the both rushed to his car.

Michael saw them running but Maria had another one of her speeches that he couldn’t really draw attention. He made a note to himself to ask them later. As soon as the two were in the car, Max started it and drove off.

He knew this town by heart. Every road, every way out. He found it important to know. He drove fast, even too fast. Isabel held on tight; she was worried about him. Finally they arrived to the desert. Max stopped the car and jumped out, Isabel followed. He stood there for a bit when he heard laughter. Isabel heard it too and started walking to it.

Liz was just having a great time. She asked Val to cover for her in school because she wanted Zan to see this place. But once they came to the desert, he started to make her laugh, in a way no one had made her laugh in such a long time. The sat in the sand and he told her jokes and made funny faces. He was nothing like Max.

Suddenly, he got up and reached his hand to her. She looked at it and then his face. – “Would you like to dance, Liz?”- he asked her. She smiled again. – “There’s no music.”- she said but she took his hand. She got up and they started dancing. Her hand on his shoulder, his hand on her waist, her other hand in his other hand and the moved in a perfect valcer. He was a good dancer. A real good one. She wasn’t.

She stepped on his feet a few times, it just made her laugh. But then they slowed down, she was closer to him now. They slowly moved to the music that didn’t even exist. He reached out his hand with hers in it and turned her around and then brought her back to him. She smiled.

Max and Isabel found them like that. They both stood there confused. Isabel was ready to tell Max that they should leave but he rushed to them. He pulled Liz from Zan’s grip and now he stood between them. He looked at him angrily. –“You leave her alone!!!”- he shouted. – “Max, stop!”- he could hear Liz’s voice behind him. – “Stay out of this Liz. I’m protecting you.”- Isabel came to Liz by that time and put her hand on her shoulder. She looked at her and then Max and then came between him and Zan.

“I don’t need your protection.” – she told him. He was getting to involved in her again, and not as a friend. She moved a step back and she could feel Zan’s body against hers. She needed him to back her up. And he understood. He put his hand around her chest, with her fingers touching her hand. – “Yea, Max, I can protect her.” – he told Max. he pretty much understand what she needed to do.

“Let’s go, Zan.” – she told him and started walking on, passing Max and Isabel. As they were behind them, Zan moved his arm of her and started walking next to her. She needed someone right now, and she moved closer to him as they walked. She took his hand behind her and put it over her stomach. – “Thank you.”- she told him and they walked to his car.

Isabel and Max stood there. Isabel knew how much Max loved Liz and up until this point, she was sure that she knew that Liz loved him just as much. She considered herself officially wrong now. –“Come on, Max, let’s get back.”- she took his hand and they walked to his car and Isabel drove them to town. Max’s mind was still there in the desert, with Zan’s arm over Liz. With her words.

Chapter 13

“You know, Max, you really need to find your own place! Cause this is getting stupid, man!” – Michael protested. Since Michael got his place, all the meetings were held here. He couldn’t have a moment to himself. Max didn’t answer to him. – “What is this about anyway?”- Michael carried on. He wanted to figure this out. He didn’t want to waste any more time.

There was a knock on the door before Michael could ask for more. He walked to the doors and opened them. Alex, Maria and Liz walked in. Max looked at Liz as she walked in. – “What’s she doing here?”- Isabel said looking at Liz. – “The invitation was only for you and Maria, Alex!”- she continued.

There was another knock on the door that was already open. Kyle came inside. – “Hope I’m not late. ”- he walked inside. Max’s look moved to Kyle. Feeling a weird vibe as soon as he walked into the room, his look falls on Liz first and then on Max. –“Max, I’m getting pretty sick of all those looks of yours. I thought we were behind that!”- Kyle said, looking at him. Max stepped forward, their faces met. Liz looked worried. – “We’re not. You messed with my girlfriend; we’re never going to be behind it. I saved your life, Kyle. Least you could have done is stay from Liz.”- Max shouted.

“Kyle, please.” – Liz’s voice came from the back. But the two didn’t want to listen to any of it. – “You know what’s your problem, Max? You don’t trust anyone. Wana know the truth? I never slept with Liz. She wanted from her. Get it? ”- and before Liz could say anything, Kyle was gone. Max looked around the room. First Liz then Isabel, Tess and finally Michael. And in that look, he knew. Michael knew all this time. –“You knew? That’s that what she told you, isn’t it?”- he questioned his friend. Something rushed through the door, pushing him a bit back. As he realized that it was Liz running out, he followed her.

“Liz!” – he called out her name and moment late he got her. He pulled her arm and looked at her for a second. He pulled her close and kissed her. Images flashed through his head. They were different from before. A man and a woman kissing. She calling him Zan and he calling her princess. Maybe, he would have learned more but Liz pulled back and slapped him.

“We can’t, Max. You need to understand. We can’t. You need to be with Tess, Max.” – he was confused. She kept telling him that over and over again. But her voice was different. She was over that, ready to give him up. –“Liz?”- he repeated her name again. He wasn’t ready to let go.

“Max, I know this sounds crazy but now that you know about Kyle, I might as well tell you. I know our future. We die. We die because our love drove Tess out of town. And without her you’re weak in the end. You need her Max.” – she told him and just walked away. She didn’t want to try to explain. He stood there, thinking about her words.

All of a sudden, he felt someone’s hand on his shoulder. He looked behind him and saw Tess. – “You heard, didn’t you?”- she nodded. –“I’m sorry, Max.”- she told him. She really was. She was ready to face her destiny but he wasn’t. And she was ready to be his support, either way. He turned to her; they hugged and he stared crying. Max was not the person to cry ever. But he did, now. He trusted Tess that much to entrust her with his tears. She put her arms around him and let him go throw it.

Liz walked and walked through the streets, she was too far from Max, he couldn’t catch her now, she thought to herself. And then she felt a strong urge. She let it happened. She sat on the end of the curve as she felt warm tears down her check. She was crying. She had lost Max for good. If nothing else worked, this would have. She looked in the direction she came from, she couldn’t see anything, just the dark night.

Chapter 14

After about an hour, Liz stopped crying and came home. She took the back stairs to her balcony. As she got there, she saw Val on the bed crying. –“Val?”- she said her name as she got into her room. She saw Val’s red eyes and walked to her, hugging her. –“What’s wrong? What happened? Was it Zan?- she feel her shaking her head. – “Your mom. How come you got this happy life and I got was John.”- Val finally said. It was easy with all the sobbing.

As she heard it, she put her hand under Val’s chin and pulled it gently up, with a small smile on her face. – “We don’t need this life, Val. We had a great life. And I want to know about it. I want to know so we can save them. Protect them from what ever could harm them.”- Val nodded. She understood what she wanted. Liz watched her dry her tears.

Max and Tess returned to Michael’s apartment. As they saw them come in, the gang got up. Isabel got worried when she saw Max’s face. – “I’m aright, guys. Liz just went home. ”- he said to calm the down. Maria noticed how Tess kept holding Max’s hand. A few moments later, they go to the couch and sat next to each other. – “Alright, so I think we should all hear what Tess can remember about this slave.”- he said. – “What slave?”-came Alex’s question.

Isabel took him aside and explained to him as Tess started. – “I don’t know much. She was brown haired with big brown eyes. Velandra told me once that it was her slave but she was always around you.”- she talked, looking at Max. – “And if she wasn’t with you, she was followed by this quite but a little weird guy. After our parents arranged our marriage, when ever I would meet him on the halls, he would look at me, angrily but he never said anything”-

Back to Liz and Val. The two sat on the floor behind Liz’s bed, in a ‘frog kind of way’, with their feet crossed like they were getting into some kind of meditation. Val had taken a candle from Liz’s closet, which Liz didn’t even know she had and lighted it.

As they were pretty much set, they took hands and Liz looked at Val. It all seamed like some witch séance but she needed to trust Val that she knew what she was doing. – “Alright, just close your eyes now. And focus. . .focus on the place we last saw, when Khivar left her on that path.” – Val told Liz and watched her nod. They both closed their eyes and focused on it. Liz wanted to open her eyes after a bit and say it didn’t work but she felt Val’s tight grip and kept her eyes closed. And then she felt falling in the stairs again, just like twice before. But this time it raced much faster.

[The missing blanks]

Kivana Eli stood on the bath as Khivar ran forward to Velandra in the near distance. She watched her friend wave at her and she waved back. After that she went walking. She had completely forgotten about the book in her hand. She came to the rocky part of Antar, where the great lake stood. She saw Zan with his dear friend Larek, talking and smiling. She wanted to over to them when she noticed that that smile was not common with Zan.

Something was different about it. She looked down on the lake, a woman was there. She seamed beautiful. She had hair somewhere between brown and blue and she seamed of an average height from what she could see from all this distance. She lay on the lake and red a magazine. Kivana Eli didn’t think which it would be.

Second thing she noticed was that the girl saw Zan and Larek. She smiled at their way, a little too bold for Kivana Eli’s choice. And then she looked at Zan, he blushed. If jealousy had a color, she would have turned into it right at that point.

She felt a strong punch in the stomach. She put her hands over it. This was terrible, she thought, as she watched Zan. She felt loosing him with each second as he looked at the girl. And then Zan looked her way, saw her. She knew that he saw her and she turned away and ran, dropping the book from her hands.

Zan ran after her and he stopped as he came to the book and picked it up. It was a love story, a forbidden kind of love and it had an inscription on the back. Zan looked at it. Val and Liz pulled closer to see but they couldn’t make of it. – “A love like ours, may be forbidden but it will be forever, Zan.”- Val suddenly said and looked at Liz. She remembered what it said, each bit of it.

Zan looked front of him and then back at the book. The two could see sadness in his eyes. Something could have been going on between him and the girl in the lake but what he had Ellie had was deeper and much longer.

Liz and Val rushed together all of it again when they were in Ellie’s room. She sat on the bed and cried. Liz wanted to walk to her and comfort her, she had a good guess who the woman in the lake was. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. – “Ellie, I know you’re there. Please open up. I can explain. Explain everything.”- Zan’s voice came from outside. Ellie got up and walked to the doors, the girls could see her eyes were red. She opened them and let Zan in, after him closed the doors and sat on the bed again. – “Oh, the stairs. Please forgive me. I never meant to make you cry. ”- he started.

She looked up at him. He had her book in his hand. He saw that she looked at it and he put it on her night stand. Seconds later, he kneeled before her and put his hands on her knees as he looked at her. Liz felt bad about him. He really seamed like he was sorry. – “Look. That woman outside, that was Avarisa, she’s the daughter of one of my father’s dear friends. She’s a Duchess.”- he told her. It still wasn’t good enough. He knew that.

“Larek took me to see her. My father wants me to. . . to marry her. I promised I’d go talk to her. I wanted to see if she could be talked out of it. I don’t want to marry anyone. Anyone else if it’s not you.” – he told her. He was a charmer. But she looked at her. Val gave a look to Liz and shook her head once. This was something Val had. Ellie would block everything else expect the part about him marrying her.

She stood up and moved away, looking at her, drying her eyes. – “I can’t believe this. I think I’ve given you my best years. My heart, Zan. So you can that? Marry some girl without the bit of a brain. That kind of woman cannot be a queen. A queen isn’t made so fast. She is born and raised to be one.”- she said. He stood up and looked at her. He didn’t understand what she was saying. – “I think you’ve been spending too much time with Velandra. She’s not queen. A princess with too much little time”- he tried to come closer but she moved away each time. – “Do you really think I’m talking about Velandra? Velandra doesn’t have one bit of a queen. Nothing. I’m surprised she even got this far being a princess. I was raised that princess must have dignity and respect at any time of their life. Night or day, with a comple strange or with her own family. Velandra was never fit to be a princess of any kind. I’ve been her friend since I came here but I cannot lie at this.”-

“How would you know anything about queens, Ellie? My mother?” – she shook her head – “Then how?” – he demanded to know. She sighed. Both of the girls knew it was time. She would tell him the truth. The one he didn’t even know she hid from him.

“What do you know about the Ryctor planet?” – she asked him first. – “It was the ruling planet about 25 years ago. The queen Laqua and king Metpar were mean.”- he told her the only story he knew.

She got furious. The first thing next to her, was her study table, full of her jelewery that Velandra had given her and she just pushed all of it from the table. – “No! No! And no! That’s not the truth. That’s something your stupid no good father made up so he could take control.”- his ears couldn’t believe it. But she wouldn’t let him stop her before she told him everything. - “I should know. I was their daughter and Khivar their son. He hardy remembers but I do. I was my mother’s heiress; I was there, that day when they died. And you wish to know how it happened? Your father, my father’s oldest and dearest friend, the ambassador of Antar came to him and stabbed him. And then my mother. He felt pity for me and my brother, maybe even liked how I defended him. So he took us, hoping that we wouldn’t remember.” – she kept talking and talking, she refused to be stopped before the told was told.

“I’ve been a slave ever since. When really, I’m the real royalty between the two of us. And when we fell in love, I thought that it was what was right. You and me, together. You freeing me and marring me, as your had promised me a while back. A thought justice had returned. All needs to happen now is your father’s death and then he will be pushed for his crimes to the royal couple. My mother’s hand of justice will catch him, Zan, and when she does, the other world will not be pleasant.”

Zan listened but he didn’t believe what he was hearing. He loved this woman or at least he thought. His mind was on Avarisa in this second. He was worried how she was treated and at the same time, his mind tried to process through the story she had just told him. – “No, that cannot be right. I cannot. You’re lying, Kivana Eli. You are!” – he just said and stormed out of her room. The girls watched her fall to the ground and began crying again.

Suddenly, she looked at Liz and Val who panicked, not understanding how she could see them. –“Girls, go after him. Hear with your own ears what his mother told him.”- she told them. The two looked as the rushed forward through the halls and into the royal bed chamber. They were confused how Kivana Eli knew they were there. And then, there she stood, Zan with his mother.

“Mother, I need to ask you something.” – they heard him talk, kneeling before her. As she waved to him to him, he got up and sat next to her. – “What is it, my son?”- the queen told him. – “I have heard some terrifying news from Kivana Eli, mother.”- and as soon as he said that, the queen looked down. – “About her parents? The king and queen of Ryctor?”- he nodded, surprised. –“We knew she would one day. We didn’t believe she’d even wait this long. What she has told you is the true. Your father . . . well, he killed his friend to be a king. To give you and your sister a better life. ”- she said and Zan, as well as Liz and Val heard her sigh.

“So, it’s all true. She’s the true princess here.” – she shook her head. – “No, my son. You are. You have been the heir for over 20 years, which makes you the legal heir to the throne. Even Laqua’s rules read that.”- she told her son. She was well aware of the old rules that the people didn’t follow any more. But the older ones remembered them still, including his parents.

Liz and Val stayed with him as the walked back to Kivana Eli and knocked on her doors again. She walked to the doors and opened them, letting him. – “I’m sorry I didn’t believe you, Kivana Eli.”- he told her and went to hug her but she moved away. – “Don’t be ridiculus. You’re engaged, your highness. I do not get involve with involved men.”- she told him and looked at him with her face sharp.

“Alright. Well, could you at least tell me the whole story?” – she nodded and told him everything, from the day she started remembering things. She told him about her parents, about her time in Ryctor, what kind of planet it was and happened that day when her parents were killed.

When she finished, he leaned on the wall next to the door, confused. It was just too much but he was glad that he finally knew the truth about her. But what he didn’t see coming was her refusing him. Even when he tried to come closer afterwards, she moved back each time, with her head shaking.

Val and Liz get sucked in the future. When times stop, they’re in the middle of the hallway, the walls beautiful. Something big was today. They rush to Kivana Eli’s room; she’s getting dressed to a very beautiful red dress, long as the one Liz remembered seeing her in her last dream.

With a knock on the door, all three women turn. – “Enter.”- it was Ratos, Zan’s best man, best friend and his second in command, not to mention Velandra’s new husband, Liz and Val could almost hear Kivana Eli’s thoughts as she explained them. He nodded his head as she looked at him. – “The prince would like to see you, miss.”- he informed her. She nodded and walked out of her room and to Zan’s.

She knocked on the doors and when she heard his voice, she came in. He looked so handsome. Liz’s heart pounded, all she could think was a wedding day for her and Zan. But she was wrong. Val could see her eyes as they glowed but she knew different but she couldn’t say anything right now.

“You called me, your highness?” – she said to him as he turned and looked at her. – “You look beautiful, princess.”- he told her. Now that nickname had it’s meaning. Liz looked at Val, it was the way Zan called her. – “I’m really sorry that everything turned out this way, Kivana Eli.”- he began. She could see he was having trouble with his tie so she walked to him and helped him as he continued talking. – “I’m really sorry, you know that, right?”- she nodded to his question. He could see her checks blush slightly. – “I’ve decided to make you a free woman, as one of the first things as the king and also marry you to a dear friend of mine so you would be well taken care . . . of.”- she tighten the tie too hard as she heard him. She let go off it and he loosen it and looked at her.

“You can’t do that. Freedom is nice but I will marry no man. Not of my own will, Zan!” – she started shouting. – “Please, keep your voice down, Ellie. It’s the only way. I’ve explained to him that this is only for your benefit. If you do not want him in as a husband, you do not need to be but it will protect you from the other men. As you will be free, men will be throwing themselves at you. And most of them know who you are, Ellie.”- he tried to explain. – “NO!!!”- she screamed.

She pulled back a bit and then thought about it. She looked at him, with her eyes asking him not to. – “Everything is alright. I talked to Margon, if he tried anything, you can always come to me.”- she smirked. Of all the man he could pick to her, he picked the most insensitive. The lady like kind of guy. She had seen him flirt with Velandra once or twice and the way he looked at her. She couldn’t stand him, let alone marry her. – “No, Zan. Of all the men, why pick the worst? You should marry to a rock. Freedom is nice but no. I’ll rather be Velandra’s slave then his wife!”- she told him, keeping her eyes on him.

“Kivana Eli, this is not discussable. I have made my decision. And it’s final. You will do as I say.” – he ordered her. She crossed her arms to that. –“The apple doesn’t fall too far the tree. Just like your father. Well guess what, your highness, don’t mess with me. It will backfire on you. A lot worse then you expect.”- at this point, she had her pointing figure pointed at Zan. She wasn’t joking. He didn’t believe her at first but he turned to the mirror again, fixing his tie. –“That I don’t know where that came from but I really don’t want a fight now, princess. Just try.”- he kept looking at her in the mirror.
But all she did was rolled her eyes and left his apartment. But as soon as she got out, she put her hand on the wall and leaned on it. She wanted to cry but she wasn’t aloud to, not with all the fancy make up Velandra had put on her. She could feel her hands shaking as she took a step forward when she heard footsteps behind her.

“Are you alright, Vance?” – she heard Velandra’s voice behind her. She looked at her and as soon as her best friend saw her face, she rushed to her and hugged her. – “Everything is alright, sweetie. I know you hate this, I hate it too but we can’t go against it, I’m sorry.”- she kept saying but Kivana Eli just kept hugging her and holding herself from crying.

Velandra led her to the bench not far from them and they both sat down. Kivana Eli leaned her head on her friend’s shoulder and sighed. –“Everything is going to be alright, I promise you. Now, tell me what he did to you.”- she moved away from her shoulder and looked at her.

“He’s giving me and Khivar freedom, as his . . . first order of business. And then . . . he’s marrying me to Margon! ” – she complained to her friend. As soon as she did, Velandra covered her lips with her hand. – “Oh my dear, I’m so sorry. I know what an awful man he is. Do you want me to talk to him, Vance?”- but she shook head to that. She refused to let her fight her own battles. – “I’ll be alright. But thank you. . .”- and she paused in her sentence, thinking, planning. – “Are you happy with Ratos? Really happy? Do you miss all those walks with my brother? Because I know he misses them.”- she watched her nod her head.

“But it cannot be, Vance. I’m married now.” – Velandra sounded nothing like herself, Kivana Eli’s thought flashed though her mind and Val and Liz heard them. – “Nonsense, tell me word and I will happen. I’m not going to stand this any more, Vel, but I need to know that you’re with me. And I will give you Khivar! ”- she told her. She didn’t need to wait long for an answer. – “You give me Khivar and I will do anything, Vance.”- her friend told her.

A smile rose on her face. – “I’ll meet you at the wedding.”- she just said, got up and rushed through the halls and into her brother’s chambers. She opened them without knocking. He looked at her. He was so grown up and still a kid. Val and Liz could see him putting on his jacket of his suit. As soon as he saw his sister, he stopped and looked at her. –“Khivar, if you could have Velandra, would you help be free of this nightmare?”- but Khivar being Khivar, who knew nothing of this world really other then killing Velandra, nodded in a heart beat. – “But how?”- his question stood place. She walked over to him and hugged him with a smile on her face. She looked at his for a moment.

“I found a way to make you smart. I think your brain or at least the part missing. I’ll give it to you, baby brother.” – but he shook his head, he didn’t want to hear it. She grabbed him tight and kissed his checks and then his forehead. –“Trust me, everything will be alright. We will both be happy. And you will Velandra.”- it soften him mind and he nodded. Liz could see his eyes showed fear and Val could see the smile on Kivana Eli’s face.

She sat her brother down and walked behind him. She put her hands on his neck and closed her eyes. Khivar couldn’t see what she was doing. Suddenly, her hands turned green, it reminded of Val’s and Liz’s electronic powers. They watched in silence as she her hands glowed and then his eyes. And then it was over. She seamed tired for a bit but it didn’t take long. Khivar kept sitting down, not saying anything.

She walked in front of him and kneeled before him. He seamed a bit different. She didn’t know what at first but soon she realized, his hair got a bit darker. – “What do you think?”- she asked him. He looked at her. –“Why did you give me this? So much knowledge all in one time? Why? ”- he asked her, all at one time. His questions were much different from before. She really did it. – “I need you, Khivar. Zan wants to free us and marry to Margon. I cannot let happen. Help me, Khivar, and I will give Velandra. She will be yours. She wants it too.”- he looked down. He was not happy about it. – “You want her, don’t you?”-

“Afcorse I do, Ellie.” – he finished his sentence without actually saying what he wanted to tell her. –“Fine, this ends tonight. No more of this stupid slave deals. We are free people, we are royalty. I’ve heard stories of slaves outside of town that refuse to join Zan and we will use that, Khivar. Go to them and tell them the real story. Of the murder that stood throne of Antar. If Zan takes his place, he will take his sins. This ends tonight, Khivar. ”- she told him long and simple, finishing the same way she started.

After that she stood up as he nodded and he left her in the room. She stood there for bit thinking and then she turned and left the room herself. She needed to keep her faith in her brother. She walks to the throne room where everything is prepared for the big moment of tonight, actually two. Because Zan was not only becoming a king but also a married man.

“Kivana Eli!” – she heard someone calling her. She turned around and saw a woman before her, a bit older. She nodded to her silently. – “My daughter wishes to see you in her quarters at once.”- the woman’s strict voice came. She treated her as a slave and she clearly didn’t like her. Kivana Eli put her hands behind her back, nodded and walked to the guest areas of the palace. With one knock, she waited to be invited. After it happened, she walked inside.

There she saw perhaps 30 girls working around a blond woman. She could see her in the mirror. Her eyes were big and light blue, just like her enormous wedding dress. She could see the future queen’s eyes on her and a smile on her face. Kivana Eli wanted to wipe it of her face but she stood in her emotionless position, waiting to be addressed. She was trained well after all.

“So you’re the one that speak of?” – a gentle a voice came from the woman. Kivana Eli nodded. Suddenly all the girls stopped working and left the room. Avarisa turned to Kivana Eli. – “I am Avarisa Nazin. Soon to be Amayx.”- she said with a glow in her eyes. Kivana Eli kept looking at her, confused what was the point of this. And then she walked over to her. – “I was told that you and Zan had something?”- she spoke, carefully, waiting for confirmation.

“That is rude to suggest, my lady. You speak of the future king.” – Kivana Eli brushed her off. She didn’t anyone. She would become her mistress if he plain falls but she would allow that, as well as she knew that Avarisa would never allow Zan to give her freedom. She saw it her eyes the minute she walked in the room. – “Yes, I know. But I will be his wife and I wish to know. Now!”- she ordered her. Ellie was getting sick of all the ordered in one day. A thought rushed through her head. She could see herself turning this woman’s neck, without single glimpse of guilt. But she kept looking into her eyes. She would not allow her the satisfaction of looking down.

“Very well. Yes, it was true. It is true. And I shall true, my lady.” – it was only to piss her off. She had no intention of continuing anything with Zan unless they were either free, or even married to each other. But that would not happen, not if she falls tonight. With everything thought she had, the idea of falling came to her. It was not on option.

“How dare you? You will the thrown into service, Kivana Eli. A mare slave. I have heard of the way you leave, like a queen. It ends tonight.” – Avarisa declared her intentions. Kivana Eli just looked at her. –“You’re right. It does end tonight, Avarisa.”- she told her and walked out of the room.

She could hear her shouting and throwing things at the door but she couldn’t look back. Once she left the room, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She was surprised some times how strong she was. Liz and Val looked at her. Val showed no emotion on her face and Liz was ready to cry. Not only that she lived here, and loved Max in this other world but she may have been the reason of his death. She dropped tear on her check and then felt Kivana Eli was looking at her. – “Do not cry. You were did not summon to cry, Elizabeth. You summoned me to know the truth, so you will repeat it.”- she heard her speaking and then time rushed to something different.

It was in the middle of nowhere, but Liz and Val could the city in the distance, the beautiful palace and then they heard voice shouting. When they looked before themselves, they could see Khivar yelling, talking to the below him. They all seamed dirty with chains on their hands that they had been freed from or freed themselves.

“I have come to you, creatures, as I know your sorrow. And we share it. I have come to ask for your help. I have come in my sister’s name. Yes, I know you know who I am. And who my sister is. You say stories about us. The slaves living with the free people. But do not fool yourself. We are not really slaves. Our parents were free; they were rules of our worlds. I am the son of the great king Metpar and queen Laqua. The man that sat on the throne for all this time was their murder. And tonight, his son takes place. If he does, he takes his father’s sins. We will not allow that. That throne belongs to my sister, Kivana Eli Xothorn. Help us and you will be awarded. Because tonight, we make action in our favor. This stupid maddens ends to night and a new dawn will rise to us. Join us and be part of it.” – as he ended, cheers came from all sides. He looked at his work. Unlike Val, who enjoyed the view of all these slaves on their side; Liz looked Khivar, his face was different, changed. He was no longer the child that never grew up. He was grown up now. Too fast, Liz thought herself.

She wanted to tell Val something but they were rushed back to the palace. They appeared in the throne room, the seats were there and the priestess waited for this ceremony to begin. Zan was first to marry Avarisa. Kivana stood in the first row next to Velandra and looked at her. She gave a look to the man she once loved, and maybe even still. Something was different, Zan thought to himself. It was not the sweet and wise Kivana Eli, her mind was set to something.

Suddenly, the music began and Avarisa walked into the room with her father leading to her future husband. Zan could see the cold looks that Avarisa and Kivana Eli exchanged.

The ceremony began and Zan’s turn was to speak his wows. Suddenly, a noise came from outside. Velandra rushed to the window and saw a crowd at the gates. – “The rebel slaves, Zan.”- she informed her brother and with that everyone in the room. People panicked. But Zan did what he needed. He let go of Avarisa’s hand and turned to his guests. – “Please, do not fear. It is not the first time. All will be well. We have a wedding to finish.”- everyone sat down and Zan began.

Kivana Eli wasn’t fooled; she turned to Velandra and looked at her friend for a bit. –“Vel, this is your chance. Got out and make your choice.”- she whispered. Velandra was confused but she trusted her. She got up and left the room. Zan could see her leave. His look fell to Kivana Eli but as Avarisa began speaking her wows, he turned his attention to her.

The ceremony was not very long and the priestess began the coronation. Zan sat at his father’s throne and Avarisa in his mothers. The priestess began speaking and Zan repeated after her. When Avarisa did the same, the priestess bowed to both. –“Long live the king and queen of Antar.”- she finished and left the room. Everyone bowed. Kivana Eli stood up.

“Bow, slave!” – Avarisa raged and looked to her husband for support. –“The sins of the father are now in the sins of the son. I cannot bow the murder. The murder of my parents.”- she said and pointed at Zan. Screams came from outside, Ratos rushed to the window and turned to his friend. –“Your majesty, they’re inside!!”-

Val and Liz couldn’t see Zan react as they rushed to the gates to the events that took place before this. They could see Velandra running to the gates and the slaves shouting. Khivar saw her and waved his hands. All stopped. –“What are you doing her, Velandra?”- he asked her, reaching his hand through the gates. She took it. –“Making a choice, Khivar.”- she said. –“What are you doing?”- she asked him.

“I’m doing what’s right. Understand. We’ve been slaves too long. You’re royalty. Your father stole that from my mother. Help me and you will become one. My wife. I will marry you.” - he told her. – “But I’m married. . .”- she began but he covered her mouth with his other hand.

“I will be king and I will make you free. Free to be with me. Would you like that?” – Val and Liz exchanged looks. They didn’t understand. How would he be a king, Liz tried to say but no words came out. But Val heard them she shook her head not knowing the answer. But Velandra was already unlocking the gates. The slaves rushed in and Khivar grabbed her and kissed her. –“You’re different.”- she said as their kiss ended. –“I am free. To be with you. Just like you will.”- he told her and they rushed through the city holding hands.

They returned to the throne room. Zan was tied up to his throne and Avarisa next to him. Slaves around them. Velandra and Khivar rushed inside. She stopped as she saw her brother like that. She looked at Kivana Eli who leaned on the wall with a smirk on her face. –“What’s happening here, Vance?”- she asked her friend. Khivar motioned her to sit down. As she did and looked around, she realized that Ratos was tied up as well.

“It took you long enough, Khivar.” – Ellie said to her brother. He didn’t look down, he just looked at the these four people, including the woman he loved. He stood silenced as Kivana Eli walked to Zan. She looked at him for a bit and then turned to Avarisa who tried to set free. –“Zan, there is so much that you do know about your dear wife. Did you know that she was going to make me a real slave? Take away my pretty dresses, throw out of the palace?”- Zan looked at Avarisa and then back at Kivana Eli. –“No, I didn’t. And don’t worry. It’s not going to happen. I promise your freedom and you will have it.”- Kivana Eli laughed.

“Do you really think I need it? I was born free. No man can make the royal heiress a slave. Only her own parents can. Making deal even tied up. You really are a king, Zan. No, I will not just set you free. I will make an example of you and show you who you messed with. I made my promise today, my dead. And I keep them.”

She turned to Avarisa again. She stared her for a long while when suddenly she started turning a bit blue. –“What’s going on? What are you doing to her?”- Zan shouted his question. The rebels were making loud noises outside. Kivana Eli relished her invisible grip from Avarisa and turned to Zan. –“I’ve always been more powerful then you realized, my dear. And I will show it to you now. ”-

She turned to her again and continued. When she finally got bored with it, she realized her. Avarisa was barely catching her breath and her lips were completely blue. Ellie raised her hand and her palm up, she stared at Zan for a bit when suddenly, and fire appeared in her palm. Zan showed a feared face. She said nothing but pointed her palm to Avarisa. There was nothing anyone could do or say but the fire hit Avarisa’s chest. She was dead before she could scream.

Liz could see how sad he was and angry at the same time. He lost the woman he loved by the hand of the woman he used to love. –“KIVANA ELI! HOW COULD YOU!?”- he shouted with tears coming down his checks. She could his tears and she could him shouting. She hated it. At first, she laughed but then she stopped. –“No more yelling, Zan. I don’t you yelling so you’re going to be doing it. Or your friend will die.”- she said and pointed for Ratos. She had no intention of killing him but she wanted his to shut up.

Suddenly Ratos shacked and then his head fell on his shoulders. She rushed to him, he was dead. She looked around the room; Khivar had a huge smile on face. – “What did you do?!?!?!” – she shouted at her brother as she rushed to him. Their faces found face to face. –“He was not supposed to die. Avarisa was the only one!!! You can be so stupid, Khivar!!!”- she continued shouting. She never knew Ratos well but he respected her and she respected him back.

“That’s enough, Kivana Eli. I didn’t get the slaves so you could kill some stupid blond. We’re taking over. This is ours.” – he pointed out. She shook his head. –“No! No! Khivar, we are not going to be ruling this world. His father did the crime but the throne is Zan’s.”- But Khivar disagreed. –“You can have the throne but he is not leaving alive from here!”- he made his intentions clear.

Kivana Eli, Velandra, Val and Liz watched him rush to Zan, take out his knife. –“NO!”- all four women shouted. He could hear only two. Kivana Eli rushed to him to take the knife. They fought a bit and then he pushed her to the ground and stabbed Zan in the stomach and then in the heart. All four women began to cry. He could hear, again, only two. - “What did you do? After everything I did for you, Khivar. My own brother.” – she sobbed. He looked at Velandra who cried too, on her knees.

Khivar dropped his knife and rushed to her. He hugged her as she cried but he pushed him away. –“You killed him. You killed Zan. You killed my brother.”- she cried out and moved a step away. He looked at the two most important women in his life, both cried for Zan. And he hurt them both, in a way. He sat on the seat next to him and waited. He waited for them to come around.

“It’s done now, Ellie. Time cannot be turned.” – he said to her. Something said made her remember something in the past. Something she had buried for all this time. Val and Liz rushed to that time. Kivana Eli was around 14 and she was playing and she stumbled to a cave. As she entered, it seamed so magical. She could see weird pods inside, children inside. There were eight of them. She could recognize Zan, Velandra and Ratos. The last girl she didn’t know who she was. Val and Liz knew. It was Ava. But they were confused how this could be, so many years ago.

Kivana Eli noticed a woman in the distance. She walked to her. It was queen Myra, Zan’s and Velandra’s mother. –“Your majesty?”- the girl formal. The queen looked at her. –“Ah, Kivana Eli. Come. Since you are already here, you might as well know.”- she started. –“This here are hybrids. Of my son, my daughter, my son’s friend and. . . a woman that I was told will be my son’s wife. I’m sorry, Kivana Eli.”- she stopped her story in the middle, seeing the girls said face.

“I’m not normally a person to believe in the words of the card tellers but I was told that a great tragedy would happen to us and that I should prepare. Before you is our safety net.” – she explained.

“Why are there two of each?” – she asked. –“The second will decoy. Our enemies will know where are, in a big city. To hide the real ones. Do you know what I will entrust them with?”- the queen asked and Kivana shook her head. The granilith, Liz thought to herself and Val just nodded.

“The most holy thing our world has.” – she said. Kivana understood. –“So only one is the real one?”- she wanted to be sure. The queen shook. –“No, my dear. Both are. One have more of the human nature, the people that live on the planet Earth. And the others, more of Antar. But both have themselves deep inside.”- Kivana understood. –“I need you to keep this a secret. Now that you know, I must trust you to take my place if I fail. To prepare them if something happens to them or me. Can I trust you?”- she asked.

Kivana nodded. –“You may trust me, you majesty. And I promise you, with all the love I have for your son, I will do it when the time comes.”- the queen smiled and left her there.

Liz and Val rushed to the present. Or was the future now. Khivar sat in Zan’s throne and a man told him the news. –“There are many on the side of Zan, General Khivar. We are still fighting them. Our staticals ensure me that victory will be ours. ”- Khivar nodded and looked next to him. His sister stood there.

Liz looked at Val. She wanted to know what happened to Velandra. She killed herself, she heard Kivana’s thoughts. –“Excuse me, brother.”- she said. His nodded made her excuse possible. She got up but he grabbed her hands and pulled her to him. –“Everything will be sat tonight. We will be king and queen. Be ready.” – she just nodded and left the room.

She took a deep breath once she did and rushed out of the palace. One of the things she loved about Antar that it had these nice creatures. Ones that reminded Liz and Val on horses. Only they wings, like in stories. Liz wondered how many stories were really real.

Kivana Eli got on the horse and rode him near to the edge of the city. It looked awful. Finally she stopped and got up. Liz recognized it, it was the cave. She made sure nobody was following her and she entered. It was dusty, left behind. Nobody had been here in years but everything was working well. She rushed to the computers to check them. It was all set. But something felt wrong. She checked it, and again and again, when she felt a vision to her head.

[Vision]

Velandra playing with Khivar, they were kids. –“Where did you go before?”- she heard his question to the princes. She smiled and kissed his check. –“My mom wanted us to give our blood and things like that. She said to make sure everything went well. I think she wants to make another me.”- she said and giggled.

[Vision end]

She realized what was wrong. Khivar knew about this, all this time. The only good thing was that he didn’t know where it was or that she knew. She rushed to the pods and looked at them. Then she had an idea. –“If he knows then he is getting ready for this. The slaves will go after you, guys, you will not be prepared.”- she said and took a knife. She reached her hand out, cutting a bit. She took some blond with her hand and touched each of the eight pods. It seamed to suck the blood right in. She did it two times again.

As she finished, she noticed something in the back. It seamed there were more pods. She walked to them, it looked like two of her. She smiled. She remembered what the queen told her - To prepare them if something happens to them or me. – And she looked at them. She suddenly liked the queen so much more. She looked at her cut, it was healed. She cut herself again and put a few drops on each pod, it sucked it all in. And then she moved away.

“That will do. I hope that goes well.” – she said and walked to the computer. She set the timer of two hours. And then she moved back. She could stay alive for this. She just couldn’t. She sighing, knowing what needed to be done. She took a needle and two tubes. She put one into each tube hole for the two of her and pocked each of her hands. She could see her blooding leaving her.

After an hour, she could feel she was dizzy. She had given all she could. Now she had get back. It was not long before the launch of the pods. She felt she wasn’t alone anymore. She turned and saw four shape shifters, in their natural form, staring at her. It didn’t take long for her to catch up. –“The queen entrusted me with. I suppose I will entrust them to you.”- they nodded, silent. –“Those two, in the back, must be in the same places as the . . .”- she didn’t know how to call them and then it just hit her. –“. . . as the royal four. But they must not be found with them. They must be separated.”- the nodded. She walked passed them. Before stepping out, she turned one more time. It would be a long time before she could see any of them again. –“Good luck to you all. May the stairs guide you and may our path cross so the right path may be chosen as our future.”- she said. The four shape shifters bowed to her and she walked out.

She could barely walk as she saw out but she got to the animal and it rode her back to the palace. She had very little time. As she came to the palace, she got dressed and went to the temple of her mother stone.

Now the girls could see her cry again, just like in their last dream. And then she ran out of the temple and into her room. She wrote a message. It read “To Khivar. I know we wanted to do well. But mother has made her choice. The throne belongs to him now, Khivar. I love and I always will but this must be done. I must seek for my redemption. One day, you will feel the same. You will find me in a small town some day; you will know me when you see me. Love me and teach so much and before you leave me again, give me the extra note. It has instruction how to bring me back. I will come back to you, my baby brother. And then, we will all be happy. Save the dagger for me, I will need to be come back. The world will be at peace. You sister, Kivana Eli.”

As she wrote her message, she got out a dagger from under her bed. No one had ever know but this was the same one that her father and mother died to. She put the letter on her table and stood in the middle of the room. A tear ran down her check and then she stabbed herself, in the middle of the chest.

She fell instantly to the ground and it wasn’t long before the floor filled with the remaining blood. And it turned out she had a lot. The next thing that happened was that the ground shook.

Khivar rushed to the window of the throne room and saw two space ships take off. He cursed, he what happened. Suddenly, a scream came from another part of the palace. He knew, right away. He pushed everyone in his way to get to his sister and when he found the doors, he pushed the open, a handmaiden stood there crying and shaking. He started crying. –“Ellie? Ellie, no!!”- he rushed to her, kneeled and held her head to his stomach. He got all covered his blood. Val and Liz didn’t understand why they didn’t go yet.

Suddenly, a man came next to Khivar and handed him a note, Khivar knew the note right away. He read it and then dropped it. The man wanted to take it but Khivar stopped him. –“No, Nicholas. I will take care of that. Burn the bodies of the four and gather the people. A funeral will be held. . .”-

He kept saying on and on but they hear him anymore. This was it. This was end. Kivana Eli wasn’t here anymore to carry listening. They rushed backwards, through the stairs.

Chapter 15

Val and Liz looked at each other. That was hell of a thing to see. Liz got consumed by all the guilt by what she; they did in that other life. She felt like she had to apologize for all of it. –“Why don’t we go to sleep?”- Val finally suggested and they got into the covers. For the first time, they didn’t turn away from each other. They slept close holding their hands over the covers. They were one person, two sides of one person and they knew the truth now.

The next morning, Liz had the morning shift. She got up before Val and learned that Zan was on the floor by the bathroom door. She had to go over him to get inside and she took a shower. After a couple of minutes she was dress and ready and she walked downstairs. A skirt to her kneels, a white blues and her hair up. She walked downstairs in some high healed shoes that she took from Val, who was still sleeping, but they didn’t mind her. She was good with them. She walked into the diner and got behind the counter and made her a cup of coffee. Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess were already at the booth, eating breakfast that Michael had made them. –“You want breakfast?”- she heard Michael question and shook her head, sipping her coffee. –“No worries. I’ll make my own.”- she walked behind and left her coffee on the counter.

Max walked to the counter and took her coffee. The three were left surprised. He took a sip and learned how it had tobacco inside. He was going to return to his seat when he noticed Liz in the kitchen. She put out two eggs on her plate. He watched her confused. Suddenly, she put her finger into it and it cooked up. He got back to the table before she could see him. –“What’s wrong, Max?” – Isabel asked him. He looked at her. –“She cocked the eggs with her finger.”- he told them. –“Impossible. Even we have to wave our hand. And we’ve been doing it forever. Try this.”- Tess explained and then put in some of her breakfast into his mouth. –“What do you think?”- she asked him and took a bite herself.-“Too cooked – his response sounded. –“Told you so!” – she then said to Michael who just mumbled something.

Liz came back to the diner area and put up her plate and ate her breakfast with her coffee. Valerie walked down after her. Max got worried that the Parker’s would see her, or anyone else. –“Relax, Max: The Parkers are in Phoenix.”- he heard Liz speak without looking at him.

Valerie came to Liz and finished her breakfast. Liz finished her coffee and waited for her. As she saw that Val wasn’t going to be finishing as fast as she was, she walked over to the four. –“Val and I are heading to cave. Anyone wana join?”- she asked them-

”You cannot go there. It’s not yours. And you won’t be able to get it.” – Tess protested. –“Relax, Tess. Nothings going to happen. We’ve been in cave, so it was Antar, big deal. The queen gave us permission so we’re aloud as much as you are.”

“Why do I have the feeling you’re not talking about Tess?” – Michael came in. –“Because Tess never knew about the cave. She meant our mother.”- Isabel answered his question and looked at Liz who nodded. –“Good answer, Vel.”- she said and Isabel blinked. She remembered. Liz wanted to know.

“We’re going with you.” – Tess cut back in not hearing what she even said.

They all got ready to go by the time Zan came down. He looked at them all; they seamed to have forgotten about him. Suddenly a voice came behind him. He turned and all could see Liz. –“Hope this will do.”- she said and handed him a burger. He shrugged and took it. Max was confused, was Liz making Zan breakfast. It was something she never did to Max.

“Alright, we’ll take two cars. Zan, you drive Val, Michael and Isabel. I’ll drive Liz and Tess.” – everyone nodded. Liz got in the car in the back, while Tess and Max sat in the front. Zan, being Zan started his car faster and rushed down the road. As they were gone, Max turned around and looked at Liz. –“What’s going on?”- she looked at him, confused. – “Nothing. We’re just looking for answer, Max. That’s all.” – she tried to convince him. It didn’t work but he started the car anyway. They got to the desert, the rest were there already but Isabel and Michael didn’t lead them to the cave. He looked at them. It was clear to them that they wanted Val and Liz to go for it. Liz knew where it was, Val shouldn’t.

As soon as Val got out, Val grabbed Zan’s hand and they walked up the cave and to the doors. Liz waved over the print and then she put her hand over it. The doors opened and they walked in, all of them. - “Where is it, Max? Where did you put it?” – Liz asked him as they got in. –“She hid it.” – Val suddenly said, looking at the Tess’s self glowing face. –“And she thinks we won’t find it. Well, guess what, dear, we always win!”- she put herself in front of Tess’s face and Liz pushed her away.

“No more fighting. Peace, Val! No more killing.” – she just said and took her hand. –“You see it?”- Val shook her head. Liz looked in and smiled. –“But I do.”- she said and walked to it, took the bed and got the granilith out.

Val was now with the self-glowing face. Liz reached into the bag and took out both stones. –“Val.”- she called her. As she had her attention, she threw one to her. She took it. Tess made a sound, worried about the stone. Liz walked to Val and then each other. They weren’t sure how to activate them. “The message from queen Myra has been played. Now all there’s left is the one for us.” – Liz told Val. –“Are you sure she made it. I don’t remember her seeing her.”-

“She did. Trust me. We did it.” – she said and kneeled down. Val followed her. Before she looked back at Val, she looked at Max. –“What ever you see, don’t come near us.”- she told them and looked at Val. She put up her palms, with her stone in her left hand; Val did the same thing with hers in her left hand. Empty hand of each came under the other ones with the stone. They closed their eyes and focused on it.

Tess didn’t believe they could do it, not for a second. She crossed her arms. Zan moved before everyone else and he and Max were now in the front.

Suddenly the symbols on the rocks glowed, but not enough to clear the room as it happened when the royal four activated it but it was enough. Val and Liz were surrounded by red white right, like the skies of Ryctor and suddenly a woman appeared. Val and Liz opened their eyes and looked at her.

They knew that it was Kivana Eli. Her brown eyes and her brown curled hair, she looked like a diva from 50ties. Isabel saw her and pulled Max’s sleeve. He looked at her as she nodded to the vision. He understood.

“Valerie, Elizabeth, I am glad that you have finally found a way to read my message. Queen Myra would have not been pleased to learn that I have used these holy stones to send myself a message but she also not be pleased to know that it was I that destroyed her world. She saw the future coming but she did not see who was to blame.”
She had a nice voice. Max and Zan looked at each other and hen Max looked at Isabel, Tess and finally Michael before he turned back to the vision of the woman.

“You have probably already seen your past. What you have done and who you loved. And I know that even this life; you love him; Maxwell and Zan. My mother had told that peace must be restored and that Zan is now king. I will apply to that but Khivar will not. That is why I need you. To set it right. You will need to bring back, and soon you will learn how. Go back home with Zan and make the people understand. It had taken me a long time to figure it out but I understand now. Take it into your own hand and make your decision, based on your mind and not your heart. The royal four as I have called only a few minutes ago may not understand it but it is for them. You need to return our baby brother to the right path. Be it with Velandra or just living. But he may not sit in the throne of the Antar king no more. That is what I need you to do. And do it, so Xothorn family may once again rest among the stairs in peace. I love you both as you are me and I look forward to that little girl, Valerie.” – she smiled and faded away.

Liz and Val kept looking into the darkness once she was gone. And then they looked at each other. It was strange and still, nice that she knew about Val’s child. And now, they knew that it was going to be a girl. They put the stones on the ground and hugged each other.

After that hug, they got up and Liz put the stones back it their bag. They came before the group, knowing what they needed to do now. Liz looked at Max, while Val fell to Zan’s arms and they kissed. Liz could see he was amazed. Confused a bit but amazed. –“Wow. You were beautiful.”- he told first.

She just smiled. –“Thank you, Max. We should get back.”- he smiled at her. She looked at Tess behind him. She seamed angry but when she looked closer, she realized that she knew. –“You knew? All this time and said nothing?”- Liz asked her straight out. Val moved her face from Zan’s and looked at Tess.

”Afcorse I did. Nasedo raised me, Liz. He told me.” – she said. Liz didn’t want to know right now.

Chapter 16

It was about five day after. Val was showing a bit so she wasn’t aloud to leave the room or replace Liz. Zan mostly kept her company. Liz had the mid-day shift.

She watched as Maria kissed Michael in the back for a second and then she heard the doors. She turned to them and saw. He was a good looking guy. Brown hair, hot built, jeans, shirt. He was hot. He sat next to the doors. She opened her notebook and walked to him. –“Welcome to Crashdown. Ready to order?”- she told him with a huge smile on her face.

He looked at her and smiled back. –“Um, yea. I’ll have a cheeseburger, coke and the waitress Liz.”- he said and put down his menu. She smiled to what she said. –“Very funny.”- he nodded. –“I know.”- she wrote down his order. –“Actually, I was wondering if you had any plans for nothing?”- he asked her up straight. She looked back at him. She was not used to such open guys.

“Not really. Why?” – she asked him. –“Wana go out, to the movies?”- he asked her. –“I don’t even know you.”- she told him.

“Sorry about that. Kevin Smith, nice to meet you. I’m new, I’m here with cousin and I’m taking a gap year before I go to collage.” – he told her, up straight, just like his last question. –“What collage?”- she asked him first. –“Not really sure. I’m interested in almost anything to do with biology and physics. I was thinking maybe forensics.”- he told her. She blushed.
“Liz Parker. I’d love to go out with you. My shift ends at 7.” – she told him and walked to the kitchen and put the order up for Michael. He came back to the kitchen and checked it. –“Who’s that?”- he asked her.

“That is Kevin Smith. Gap yea guy.” – she said with a smile on her face as she leaned to the wall. Maria just walked in and heard her. –“Sounds like someone’s got a crush!”- she said as soon as she heard.

“I do not. But he’s taking out tonight.” – she told him. –“You just met him!”- Michael comment came from behind. –“I know but why not. Val had Zan, you have Maria, Isabel has Alex, Max has Tess. . .”- she started.

“He doesn’t have Tess. Tess doesn’t have him, Liz. He’s crazy about you.” – he tried to convince her. – “Michael, the last time I fell for a king, things didn’t go well. This time, they might.”- she said and smiled again.

He rang his bell and put out a plate. She took the coke in the bottle, moved the cap and took it with the plate. –“I don’t like this guy.”- Michael told Maria when Liz couldn’t hear them. –“Calm down, Michael. You’re acting like a overprotective brother.”- she told him.

Liz put the plate in front of Kevin, and his coke. –“Your brother doesn’t like me.”- he said nodding his head to Michael –“He’s not my brother. He’s my best friend’s boyfriend and my friend. He does act like a brother sometimes. I think. Only child so I don’t really know.”- she nodded and left him to his food.

Later that night, he really did come for her. He came to the doors and knocked on them, he wasn’t really sure if she had closed them or not. Liz was sitting the last both with Alex and Maria and they seamed into the whole conversation. –“So, you had another life where you were a slave. And you were Max’s slave?”- Maria tried to make it clear.

“No, Maria.” – Liz shook her head once. –“I mean, yes. But I was a princess.”- she said with a smile. –“So Isabel was married to Michael?”- Alex’s question but it. Liz didn’t find it strange. He understood what she said and he moved on, to the things he didn’t really understand. Liz was ready to answer him when she heard the doors.

She looked up and saw Kevin there. She smiled. –“Sorry, guys, got to go. Got a date!”- she said with a smile and got up. She motioned with her hand for Kevin to hold on and she walked in the back. Maria and Alex looked at the guy at the door. He still didn’t know who he was. –“Who’s that; Maria?”- Alex’s question came soon after.

“Kevin. . . something. He was at the diner today, asked Liz out and she said yes. And she only met him today.” – Maria protested. –“But, he’s kind a cute. A bit of a cowboy deal going on there.”- she smiled and looked at her friend, who looked at her. –“So, what’s up with you and Isabel?”- Maria changed the subject.

“Well, I’m sure. It’s going well but she’s just had her mind on Liz and all that’s going on. She’s so distracted all the time. So I just try being there for her.” – Maria smiled. She really wished that she had someone like that. Michael could be great at times but that were his rare moments. She wanted to say something but Liz came from the back at that point.

Both of her friends dropped their jaws when they saw her. She was a dress. Small, a bit over her knees, black, with a ribbon under her chest, in the color pick. It was tight but it seamed perfect for her. Her hair was down and curled. The two wondered where that came from in such a quick time. –“How did you . . .?”- Maria started her question but Liz started already answering her question. –“Val has her moments.”- she smiled, winked and walked to the doors. As she walked out, she waved at her friends who waved back. Now it was only Alex and Maria.

When she walked out, she saw him looking at her strange. –“What?”- her first question came out. –“I knew you were beautiful but you’re . . . hot . . . A lot more then I imaged.”- he told her honesty. She blushed a bit.

They walked through the streets and into the cinema. He took her to a romantic comedy. She thought they would go to a horror or something so she could stay close to him for protection, that’s what Kyle was when they dated. But she seamed to have forgotten that not only aliens are nice guys.

After the movie, they walked home. –“So, I had a good time, Kevin.”- she told him as the came to the back doors of the diner. –“I’m glad. Me too.”- he told her and looked at her. He was too sweet for her not to kiss him good night. She leaned over to him but as soon as she could feel his lips, he turned a bit and kissed her check. After that they said goodbye and he left her there. She stood there confused for a bit and then got in.

What she didn’t know was that she wasn’t the only one on a first date, at least a real one. In the same cinema, only watching a different movie, sat Max and Tess next to him. She leaned over to him, holding his arm and he could feel her grip each time a scary scene. He did take her to the horror movie.

He sat there, watching the movie and feeling that he was doing something wrong. Like he was cheating on Liz or something. Then he thought again and realized that he wanted to feel wanted a bit, by anyone and Tess was always ready to support him. He liked having her around sometimes.

When the movie was over, they walked home. Tess kept holding his shoulder the whole time. He felt a bit uncomfortable but after a while he decided not to think about it. –“So, good movie, ha?”- he suddenly asked to brake the silence and looked at her. She smiled to him, their heads almost met so he looked forward. –“Yea. This was really great, Max. Thank you.”- he could hear her say. She still probably had the smile on her face but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to look, in case their heads met again.

“No problem. We should do this again sometime.” – he told her and she nodded. Finally, they walked to the Valenti house. They could see a light inside. She let go of him and their eyes met. –“I guess I’ll see you around, Tess.”- he said but he suddenly felt her warm lips on his. He didn’t even realize it until it happen. He felt her tongue inside his lips and before he knew it, he was responding. He didn’t mean to at first but he didn’t really want to turn the other way this point.

It was here that moved away from him. If he could read her mind, he would know that it was because she was in need of some air. She smiled and then walked to her doors and got it. He waited there until she got in and then walked home.

Tess got in and closed the doors behind her smiling. –“You know, he’s going to break your heart, Tess!”- she heard Kyle’s voice from the couch. She walked over to him. He was waiting for her. She smiled and sat next to him. –“Don’t worry, Kyle. And thanks for looking after me.”-

”You live here with us. I think it’s my duty. And I like it. Don’t want to see you get hurt, though.” – she smiled.

From that day, Kevin kept eating in the diner, breakfast, lunch, dinner, you name it. Every other day, he would invite Liz out and she would accept. He would take her to the movies, to dinner or just a walk in the park. But he seamed to have been backing away, each time she tried to get close to him.

“So he doesn’t want to kiss you?” – Maria’s question came to Liz. They were in the back, getting ready for work. –“Who doesn’t want to kiss who?”- They could hear Michael from the kitchen.

“Kevin. I want to kiss him but each time I got for it; he kisses me in the forehead or check. It’s just weird.” – she confessed her friend. She could see Alex sitting down by the bar sit with Isabel. –“I like him, I really do but, it’s just so weird. I thought I was pretty. I don’t understand what he wants.”- she tried to tell Maria. –“I better get to work.”- she said, not even waiting for an answer.

Maria watched her go in the front and start talking with Alex. –“I don’t like that guy. At all. He’s too weird. Someone should have him checked out.”- Michael’s voice came from the kitchen again. Maria could hear him but Liz clearly couldn’t. –“Michael, don’t you dare mess this up for her. She’s finally taking her mind of Max and this Kivana Eli deal. She needs it. Don’t mess it up! Or I’ll kill you myself!”- she said pointing her finger at him, as he tried to defend himself.

“Hey, Alex. Isabel.” – Liz said to the two. –“Want something to drink?”- and they got a Pepsi and a juice. Isabel must have been looking after herself today or something, Liz thought to herself. –“Where’s your guy, Liz?”- Alex suddenly interrupted her thoughts. Isabel turned to look at her surprised. –A guy? What guy, Liz?- she butt in with her question before Liz could say anything.

“Kevin. I’ll be here later, for brunch.” – she told Alex, trying to avoid Isabel’s look. But she should have known better, it was Isabel. She felt a grip of her wrist. She looked at it and saw someone’s hand holding it. Isabel. She looked at her. –“He’s a guy. He’s nice. I like him. We’re going out, kind of. Now, let go of me Isabel.”- she told her friend in a harsh, and unusual voice.

“Fine! And here I believed that you and Max have the real thing.” – Isabel said as she let her go. Liz already walked to the new people in the diner, ignoring her comment

It was about 11:30 when he walked in. Liz wasn’t there as she had her brake. She was upstairs. Michael noticed him sit down. Before Maria could stop him, he walked out of the kitchen and into the diner area and sat across him. –“Excuse me?”- Kevin’s first and only reaction was.

“Excuse yourself. I don’t know what you and Liz have going on but I don’t like it and I don’t like you. In Roswell, we look after each other, dude. And if you make one wrong move on her, you’re going to have, not only me, but half of this town on your back!” – she said and got up. Liz saw him get up through the glass on the doors. –“What do you think you’re doing, Michael?”- Liz asked him as he got back to the kitchen. –“Looking after you. If he walks away now, he’s a chicken. If he sticks around, he does give a shit. I still don’t trust him but I wana know.”- he told her.

She just sighed angrily and marched to the diner. Isabel and Alex saw her. –“That him?”- she asked her boyfriend, who only nodded. –“I’m really sorry about that, Kevin. Michael doesn’t know how to act. . .90 percent of the time.”- she said and the smiled, sitting down where Michael sat seconds ago.

“It’s alright. It’s cool that you have someone looking after you like that. Being an only child and all.” – he said, returning the smile.

Val walked to the end of the steps and saw that no one was here. She heard voices in the diner and burgers flipping in the kitchen. She slowly walked there and leaned on the wall. –“Hey, Michael.”- she said, starling him at first. She watched him look through the open wall and then back at her. –“Oh, hey, Val.”- he then said. He caught up pretty fast. –“Sorry. This new guy that Liz is with. Weird. Even gave him a talk and he’s still here.”- and then he felt being hit in the back of his head. Not hard but good enough for him to put down what ever he had in his hands and stretch it. He was sure that either Max came in or Zan came downstairs but when he looked, all he saw was Val. –“Did you do that?”- he asked her and she nodded. –“What the hell was that for?!”- he said, raising his voice.

“It’s been forever since she was happy and you want to mess it up for her? You’ll have to deal with me if you do!” – she made it very clear, turned on her heal and walked out of the kitchen and upstairs. Women, Michael thought, sometimes, not most of the time, they were so completely crazy.

Later that day, Max dropped by. As he came, he walked to the counter and sat at the end, close to Michael so he could talk to him. Michael felt like he was reading his mind. –“Yo, Maxwell, we should talk.”- he said and nodded to his left, which was right for Max who understood and walked into the back and got to the kitchen doors. –“What’s going on?”- he asked as he got there.

“You know the new guy in town? Kevin Smith.” – Max looked confused. –“He’s this guy Liz is going out with . . .”- Max looked down so Michael stopped talking. –“You o.k., man?”- he asked her and Max nodded his head and then shock it. –“Yea, I’ll be alright. I just never thought it’d hit me this much.”- Michael put his hand on his friend’s shoulder. Michael was not as a big of an idiot as everyone believed him to be. Maria came to the open wall to place the order when she saw Max and Michael. She said nothing. –“It’ll be alright, man. You too, meant to be. I’ll work out.”- she smiled hearing that.

Chapter 17

It was a cold night in New York City. December was just kicking in but everyone was normal. People still rushed for work, cars drove each second of time, with the drivers shouting and using their horn. Lonnie walked next to Rath in a crowded street. They wore pretty much the same outfits as they always did, only now they both had old coats out of wool on them.

They said nothing to each other as the walked. The walked down the steps in the subway area and got into their home sweet home, the sewer. Lonnie crashed on the old couch they had and Rath started walking around weird. She looked at him. –“What’s up with you?”- but she didn’t get an answer. Not with that first question. She leaned forward, still sitting. –“Rath!”- she called his name out.

“Shut up!” – his answer came. –“Saw that short dude today, Lonnie. Nicholas. Told me strange stuff. What deal you make with him, girl?”- he started asking her all the questions he could possibly think of. He was clearly upset. She sat there, her face expression changing from shock, surprise and finally relief.

“Good. You know. Now, I don’t need t’ hide anymore!” – she told him indifferently. –“You wana know why? ‘cos I’m getting sick of you. That’s why.” – she said and grabbed an old magazine ‘Cosmo’ from the floor and started flipping the pages.

He looked at her. He didn’t understand how she could be so calm by everything. He may have done all those things; including killing his friend but he did because he wanted to go and he did it because somewhere down, he loved her crazy. Ready to strike anyone down for her. And she didn’t care. She didn’t care at her. He was her little toy, doing all her dirty work.

After that, she split. He didn’t care where she went. He was getting out of this place; he was getting sick of her. If he had something to pack, he would have. But he had nothing. So it didn’t take him too long to leave the place. Before he left, he raised his hand at all of it, with the desire to spice it up for her and it seamed like he created a wind because he made such a mess in the place. Everything started flying around, hitting the walls.

He smiled and left. Lonnie came later that day. –“Rath? Where are you, baby?”- she called out as she entered the place. But she had a surprise. A mess was inside, like a hurricane hit it. And she knew exactly which. It’s name was Rath and she wasn’t surprised. –“Got finally rid of him. Now, let’s bounce this shitty place!”- she said with a smile and walked out of this place.

She made her way out of the subway and walked through the streets, it was already night but still, so many people were out, running to work or home, or going out. Lonnie didn’t take any time really worrying about it. She came to a corner of a street; it led to a dead end. She leaned on it. –“Yo, I’ve been told to talk to you, dude, if I wana go home.”- she said with her crazy New York accent.

“And you are?” – came a weird, old and a bit Australian male voice on the other angle of the street. –“Velandra.”- her answer name. –“I’m sorry. There must be a mistake. I was told that Velandra has no intention of leaving.”- he answered her. She turned to the street and looked at him. He was an old man. She knew it was just a taken body and not the real man. –“Don’t play with me, Margon. I’m going home. Nicholas and I made a deal. If you don’t believe me, contact Khivar!”- she told him, with the outmost confident.

“My lady, the master is not on Antar no longer. He is on Earth. On a very important mission.” – Lonnie crossed her hands and leaned a bit back, shocked. She had never imagined Khivar would come here in person. Naturally, she remembered him but never did she imagine this. –“Where’s he?”- she asked after that.

“I cannot say. I have been given orders.” – and then she caught his neck, lifting him from the ground, he may have had the body of an old man but she was strong. –“Where. Is. He?”- she said, pointing out each of her words.

“In New Mexico. That is all I know.” – he told her. She dropped him and he gasped for air. She stood there, thinking, why Khivar would be in Mexico. She could think of only two persons. Max and Isabel. She couldn’t believe it. Khivar was ready to drop her so easily and go for the harder the get she punched her first in the wall. She broke a tinny bit of it and her hand bled. It was terrible. More the feeling of betrayal then the physical pain.

Rath was alone for the first time. He stole a small car and drove out of New York. He had no idea where he could go. All the family he ever had was in New York City, in those pods. Zan, him he killed. Ava, she took of a while back; and now he lost Lonnie. Did he ever actually have her, he wondered as he drove south not even knowing for sure where he was going.

Nicholas was still in New York City. He walked around with his map, even after all this time. He looked around the buildings. He really hated this town. Suddenly he stopped walking and turned around. She was right behind him. Lonnie. He loved being around this one but it was not the same. She was not Velandra. Neither was Isabel but Isabel was more innocent, she was more Velandra then people knew.

“What do you want?” – he asked her. She leaned forward and he took a step back. –“Lonnie, answer the question.”- he made it very clear he didn’t have time for her stupid games. –“Why d’d Margon say that Khivar’s in New Mex?”- she asked him. –“You need a talking lesson.”- his first answer was. Then he turned and started walking forward. She followed closely after.

“He had some things to do. He didn’t want to trust anyone else. And no, it’s not because of Isabel or her brother. Honestly, I’m not sure either.” – he told her, looking at all the faces around them. –“What could possibly be so special in Roswell?”- he question came.

“You’ll see. Have a nice life.” – he said with a smirk and walked away from her. She stopped, looking his way. She was confused. He did know but he didn’t want to tell her. She didn’t understand how her charms didn’t work on him. That had never happened before. Not even on women. She turned to the other side and walked back the way she came from.

Chapter 18

The next day in Roswell. The sun hit the sky around 6 o’clock. Liz and Val woke up at 7.30 sharp and Zan with them, since Liz had the morning shift so she turned on her alarm clock.

After a shower and a few minutes of uniform searching, she was ready, while Val tried to sleep a bit longer. Zan was up too and soon as Liz left her bathroom, he got in and took a shower too.

When Liz came downstairs, she found Maria and Michael already there, putting their uniforms. They seamed in a really good mood this morning. She walked pass them and smiled.

Their foreheads touched each others. They both turned a bit to the side when they saw Liz and then got back to their business.

Liz came to the front part and looked around. She had to put the menus on the tables. She felt someone was watching her. She ignored it and carried on with her work.

She came to a table in the middle and took the salt to put the menu its place when she heard the doors open. She was sure that they were locked. She looked around and there he stood. Little Nicholas. She embraced the salt to her hands as her first reaction but she couldn’t speak and call Maria and Michael.

He seamed to have been doing something to her. He walked up real close to her and stared into her eyes. He seamed to have found what he was looking for but not completely.

“There is another part of the agreement. Never mind that it failed. This one has to be applied.”- he told her and waited. He wanted her to ask what.

“What part? “ – she whispered. Her heart beat rapidly. –“5) The day the pods left, someone very dear was taken from Khivar. He wants that person back or he will send his armies to Earth. You wouldn’t want that would you?”- he said with a mean smile.

“He or she?”- she suddenly asked.

“They, who are she.” – he told her with a wink. She dropped her salt to the ground as he walked out. Michael had only realized what he saw there. He rushed passed Liz and outside. Maria came to Liz and they hugged. Liz started crying.

The back doors swung again. Zan and Val stood at the doors. Val could feel something was wrong. Liz looked and her and broke the hug with Maria and walked over to her crying.

They hugged. Zan rushed to the doors as Michael came in. –“Did you get him?”- his question came. Michael got surprised how much he was Max. –“No. I can’t even find him.”- he told him and walked inside to Maria.

He put his hand over her shoulder and looked at Val and Liz, who looked at him; as Zan walked to them.

“Nicholas. He said that there was another par of that deal in New York. He doesn’t’ care how it ended but he wants someone or he will start a war on Earth.” – Val covered her mouth. –“He can’t do that.”- she said with a sad voice, still holding Liz.

“I know. But he will. I need to go lie down.”- she said, looking at her. –“Yea, you go. We’ll finish in here.”- he said looking at them. He wanted to Zan to go with them but Zan did that without him telling him.

As they moved to the back, Michael turned to Maria. –“Your phone.- she nodded and gave it to him. He dialed the number and put it next to his ear. He heard a bit of a sleepy voice.

“Maxwell, it’s Michael. We have a problem. A really big one!”- he said. –“Let’s meet in the museum in 30 minutes? Every one. That’s how big it is. Alright, cool.”- he said and hug up, returning the cell to Maria. She was a bit confused.

Max turned in his bed. He was confused. He didn’t hear why the meeting was needed. It felt to him that there was just too much meetings today. It felt to him like he was the one causing them but it turned out to be wrong.

He got out of bed and to Isabel’s room. He knocked on the doors and nothing at first. He knocked again and then he heard a slam on the floor. He pushed the doors open and he had a lot to see.

Isabel was on the bed, covered with the sheets while someone was on the other side of the bed, trying to cover up as well as not get seen. Isabel looked worried. He moved slowly to that side and found Alex there with his hands over his head.

It was then that Max realized that his hand was stretched out. -“Isabel, get dressed. Michael just called a meeting in the UFO center so it has to be big.” – he said and walked out, without saying another word. Isabel felt embarrassed, and Alex too; maybe evens more.

Tess opened her eyes; it was too early on a day like this. She heard the radio on in the living room and people moving. She got up, wearing her PJs and walked out of the room.

She found Kyle and Valenti having breakfast. –“Morning, Tess.”- she heard them both say.

“What’s going on?” – she said as she sat down. Kyle got up and brought in her plate. –“Max called us. Michael sat up a meeting in the UFO center and he thinks it’s serious since Michael did it. So I woke up Kyle.”- Valenti explained.

She nodded and started eating her breakfast. After a while, she was done so she moved to her bedroom and got dressed, simple jeans and a blouse, with her hair down. She didn’t have time to get anything better anymore.

Liz and Val sat on the bed, next to each other, holding hands. Zan walked around the room. He didn’t understand what Nicholas wanted. He stopped suddenly, realizing that the two do. –“Val, Liz, what’s going on?”- he asked them.

The two looked at him, with a sad face. –“Khivar wants us. He wants Kivana Eli. Nicholas said that on the day of the pod launch, he lost someone very dear. It was the day Ellie killed herself.”- they said and turned away. He didn’t ask anymore.

Maria and Michael set up the diner and then Maria walked upstairs. She knocked on Liz’s doors once. –“Liz, we’re going over to the UFO center. Michael called every one. You coming?”- she told her friend. –“Yea!”- she heard Zan answer. She returned downstairs to Michael.

“She’s coming. Actually, I think all three are coming. ” – she informed the boyfriend and they walked out of the diner.

Chapter 19

When Michael and Maria entered the museum, mostly everyone was already there. Max and the sheriff stood on one side talking; Tess and Isabel on the other; Kyle and Alex in front. They walked downstairs. Maria walked to Tess and Isabel while Michael joined Max and Jim.

“Michael, what’s going on?” – Max starting asking question as soon as he was close to them. Michael pulled his arms in front of him with a wave. –“Everything is aright. Now. Look, Nicholas came to the restaurant today and gave Liz a scare. I don’t know why yet but the three of them are coming down here any minute.

And he was right. The three came to the top of the stairs. Liz still wore her uniform. She held Val’s hand as she walked and Zan was right behind them. As soon as they walked downstairs, everyone came to them asking all this questions. It got too loud in her. Liz looked at Zan helplessly.

”STOP IT!” – he shouted. Everyone looked at him, surprised. –“Thank you.”- Liz just told him and looked at everyone. Then she turned to Val and nodded, who closed her eyes for a bit of a second.

“5) The day the pods left, someone very dear was taken from Khivar. He wants that person back or he will send his armies to Earth. You wouldn’t want that would you?” – she said using Nicholas’s voice kicked in. –“That’s what he said, guys.”-

She walked to the stone holder of the stairs and she sat on it, her feet were so far from the ground. Zan stood behind Liz. He was a good friend sometimes, Liz let out a weak smile. But everyone was staring at her. She really didn’t have time to focus on Zan.

He got out in front of them. Just like he always way. Jeans, t-shirt, shirt over it; his goofy hair at times. He was different from the other two look-a-likes she had met in her life, and one of them was now behind her. He was always the leader in this gang, in the front, asking all the questions.

She swallowed her slime as she looked at him. This time, she was the one answering all the questions. She leaned to the back, she could feel Zan there. He wasn’t planning on moving. She felt a relief. –“So, he just walked in? I thought you keep it locked until like 8 a.m.”- his first question came.

“It was. That’s the confusing part. He must have done it because the doors were locked.” – she answered. This wasn’t so bad. Yet.

“And that’s all he said?” – she shook her head. –“Well, that would be all. If I didn’t ask if he meant him or her.”- she told him. –“Why would you . . .? What did he say?”- he wanted to go into the first question but there was really no time for that.

“They, who are she.” – she said, giving a look to Val and then back at Max. –“And what does that mean?”- he continued. Liz looked down. –“Liz, what does that mean?!?!”- he insisted.
“Hey!” – Val jumped from where she was sitting, walked in front of Max and pushed him away, defending Liz. –“She didn’t do anything! Treat her with some respect.”- he demanded.

“What? Liz?” – he turned his attention to Liz again. None of what Val was telling him made any sense. –“Enough, Max.”- Liz’s voice suddenly gain sound again after a while. It had confidence in it. He watched as her eyes met with his. –“Khivar wants me and Val. He wants us both because we are his sister. They, who are she. Val and I are Kivana Eli.”- she answered his question.

”But Liz. . .” – he started again. Something was happening between him and Tess but no matter how much it was nice, he had only love in his life. It was Liz. –“Maybe should just take a time out and re-think this.”- Zan said, walking down. Val nodded and took Liz’s hand pulling her with her.

Max felt someone’s hand on his shoulder. He looked at it and then at the face to which it belong to, Zan. –“Everything is going to be alright, man. I see how much you love Liz. Just like I love Val.” – he heard him say and just nodded, looking at the two.

They could see them having a crazy discussion but no words came to them, it was like they were talking through their mind.

Chapter 20

Later that day, when Zan came into the room; after spending the day with the four; he found Liz and Val still talking. As he came through the window, they both looked at him. –“Hey, Zan.”- both said at the same time. –“Hey, girls. So have you decided anything?”- and then two walked to him, next to each other; positive from him.

“Yes, we have, Zan. But no matter what any of you say, we have to do it.”- Liz said. And then Val finished. –“And it’s not just that we have to, we want. Least for a bit, be her. Because that’s who were are.”- she walked to him and kissed him.

“I’m gona leave you two. I told Kevin to meet me downstairs. I suppose I should say goodbye.” – she said and left the two alone. She walked down to the diner. Maria, Michael and a new girl Tiffany had the shift.

As she came from the back, she saw Max and Tess in one of the booths. They seamed to be having a good time. Until he saw her. He stopped smiling and looked at her. Tess knew who it was without even looking at Liz. She knew that look.

Max wanted to get up and got talk to her but he saw her smile at the doors. As he turned around, he saw a man walked to her. He came to Liz and they hugged. She sat him down at the counter.

“Thank you for coming, Kevin.” – she told him. They held hands. –“Of course, Liz. Who would I be if I didn’t?”- he asked her with a smile. She really was crazy about it.

“Look, this has been going great and I’ve been having a great time. It’s just that, I have things to do. See, I’m not really Liz Parker. I am Liz but I, I learned that I have family elsewhere. And I feel that I have to go see them. To learn who I am and why am I here.”- she talked and talked until she felt his finger over his lips. –“You don’t need to explain.”- he told her.

”No, I do, Kevin.” – she wanted to say but he covered her lips. –“Listen to me, Liz. I know that you’re leaving. I knew that when you called me.”- he put out an blue envelope before her. She looked at it. –“Here is a not that you might need.”- he said and got up, stretching his arms for a hug. She was confused but she returned it anyway.

“I know, hunny. And I will be waiting for you at home. Bring Zan, stay a month. A week for this little town. And if you don’t like it. . . I guess we can just make it a democracy. I’ll be up there, Ellie. For you.”- he kissed her check after whispering to her.

She froze as she heard him call her nickname. She stared at his eyes. It made sense now. It was why she loved him. Because she knew his soul. She kissed his forehead, left check and then his right check and smiled. –“Khivar. . .”- she whispered. –“Shh . . . I’ll see you when you get home.”- he said and walked away leaving here there.

She didn’t even notice her eyes filled with tears. She watched him as he got to the doors and waved his hand to her. She smiled and waved back as he left. She took the envelope in her hand as she continued to look at the doors for a bit longer.

“You alright?”- Maria came from behind. –“Better then I’ve been in a very long time, Maria.”- she told her friend and walked into the back. Maria came to Max and Tess bringing them their plates. Max’s eyes were on the back where Liz just disappeared. –“Quit staring. Your eyes will fall, Max.”- Maria told him.

He looked up at her. –“What happened?”- he asked her. She shrugged and walked to the next table to take their order.

Liz came back upstairs and found the two hugged in the same spot where she left them. Val looked at her and saw her eyes. –“What’s wrong, Liz?”- she asked her, who just sat on the bed and looked at the two.

“You won’t believe who I just saw.” – she said, holding the envelope in her hand. Val walked to her and took it from her hands. After a minute, she looked back at her. –“Khivar. He was here.”- Liz looked at her, surprised. Val showed her the letter. It was the one that Kivana Eli left to him before killing herself and on the other side, instructions. Liz stood up, reading them.

”Val!” – she called her name and showed it to her. –“This is it.”- she turned to Zan. –“This is how we bring her back.”- turning back to Liz, she took the letter in her hands. –“We make the choice, Liz. It’s our own. Because we go alone.”

“No. Zan, if you want you can come with us. With her. Khivar said we can.” – Zan walked to them. –“I’ll go with you. I don’t trust him one bit. Sorry.”- he said and finished with an apology seeing Val’s look.

“Alright. Well, we do it tomorrow. In the pod chamber.” – they nod and hug each other, putting the note on the night table. Liz walked to the bathroom and closed the doors behind her. This was it, the choice was made. She wanted to go home and know that brother of hers. But she felt like she was leaving Max for good. She started crying. What she didn’t know was that Val felt the same.

Val fell to Zan’s hands and started crying. Neither said nothing, he just held her. She lost the only man she had ever considered family in New York, here there was nothing really keeping her. But she felt more home here that ever before. Being around people that take care of each other. It was something she always wanted. People who knew her secret.
