Stronger Together (CC ALL,Teen-Mature) Pt 50B AN 11/23 [WIP]

Post by roswck »

Title: Stronger Together.
Rating: y teen -mature
Couple: CC ALL
Author's Note: I had started another fic a while back but wasn’t happy with it. This has been floating in my head. Let me know what you think. I have 4 chapters already written so if you like it let me know and I will keep posting.

Disclaimer: I don’t own anything Roswell. I’m just borrowing the characters. Any characters I create belong to me.

Summary: Starts after departure. Max is looking for Tess and the baby. Something strange is going on with Isabel. That’s all I will say for right now. I don’t want to give too much away. All CC are in this. There is no Jesse.

Part 1

Tess has just taken off in the Granolith.
Max, Liz, Kyle, Isabel, Maria and Michael are staring up at the sky.

“ So what do we do know Max?” Isabel asks.

“We have to save my son.”

Liz looked up at him. She couldn’t believe that she had almost lost him that if Michael hadn’t decided to stay for Maria that he would be gone. She did not miss the irony in the fact that it had been Michael that had chosen to stay. If you had told her a year ago that faced with the chance to go home Michael would choose to stay and Max would choose to go she would have told you were dead wrong. That had been before Destiny, before Tess killed Alex, and before Max conceived a child with his wife from another Planet. She shuddered as the image of them together entered her mind. It wasn’t over. It would never be over. Things would never be the way that they were. Max had a child. She didn’t know where this left their relationship. What she did know was that Max would not stop searching till he found his son and that scared her. Because she didn’t know if she could live with a constant reminder of how he had betrayed her and that is what his son would be.

She moved from his embrace. She suddenly felt cold as his warmth left her. She hated the feeling. It was like being in a bright light and then being thrust into darkness. She sighed to herself and decided that she would think about all this later. Right now she was just happy that she had the chance to think about it. Because Max Evans was here on Earth and that gave her hope.

“I think that we should go know. We don’t know if that explosion was spotted by anyone or if the Granolith showed up on Radar when it left the atmosphere. This place could be swarming with the FBI and the military any minute.” She said as she turned her back on Max and started to move away from the Pod chamber.

Max stared at her as she began to walk towards the car. He had meant what he said when he told her that the one right thing that he had done right was loving He needed her but he had felt the way her body tensed when he said he had to find his son. Then she had pulled away from him. The loss of the connection almost brought him to his knees. He had missed it for so long. He needed it and in that moment he knew he would fight for it. He would fight for her. He knew it wouldn’t be easy but he couldn’t live without Liz Parker.

“Liz is right we should get going. Kyle, will you take Max and Isabel home? Maria and I will go in the Jetta.” Michael said as he tightened his grip around Maria.

He never thought that he would be the one who would choose to stay on earth. He had always been the one who wanted to get off this Planet. Always denied his Humanity. Yet in the last year that had all changed and Maria had been the reason. Her love had made him human. So when the time came he had chosen her. Chosen his human side over his alien. Thank God that he did. If he hadn’t they would all be on their way to their deaths. So in actuality Maria had saved them and he didn’t know if he could ever repay her but he would try. Oh how he would try.
“Can’t wait to get me alone can you spaceboy.” Maria whispered as her eyes met his.

She couldn’t believe that he had stayed for her. No one had ever stayed for her. Not even her Father. Michael did. She didn’t know how it had happened but she knew that she had broken through Michaels stonewall. Because when she looked in his eyes all she saw was how much he loved her.
“I’m so glad you stayed.” She whispered.

Slowly he bent down and pressed his lips against hers. Suddenly she felt every emotion that had been coursing through his body in the last few hours. The decision to stay was not an easy one. Max and Isabel were his family but in the end he realized Maria was his home.

“I never could have left this.” He said as he pulled his lips from hers.

“Fine, I’ll take them home but can we get going, I don’t want to be here when and if the cavalry arrives.” Kyle stated as he turned toward Isabel and Max.

“Lets go. I can’t wait to see my Mom and Dad.” Isabel said with tears in her eyes.

She began to walk toward the car when suddenly she became dizzy and her knees began to wobble. She tried to steady herself but couldn’t.

Kyle watched Isabel begin to walk towards him. She began to sway from side to side as if she couldn’t catch her balance. She was going to faint. He rushed forward and put his hands under her arms to steady her.
“Isabel, are you ok?” He asked.

Isabel sighed with relief as she felt Kyle reach out and help steady her. What was that? She had never experienced anything like it.

I’m fine Kyle. It’s been a long couple of weeks and I haven’t had much rest. I’m sure that once I get some rest and see my Parents I’ll be fine. Just get me home.”

That was it. She was tired. She needed to get home. See her family and get some rest. Once she was back to her life, her human life she would be fine. So why was something inside of her telling her different?

Part 2

Max circled the block in the rented Ford explorer. This had been the fourth time he had passed the crashdown in the last fifteen minutes. He just couldn’t bring himself to go in. He hadn’t seen Liz in 3 days. Not since she had decided to leave the pod chamber with Michael and Maria and not he, Isabel and Kyle.

We’ll talk later. My Parents are expecting me.” She had said to him as she climbed into the back of the Jetta. He could see from her body language and her facial expressions that she needed time. So much had happened in the last few weeks. She needed time to deal wit it. Time to adjust. Time to mourn.
So as he watched the Jetta drive away he decided that he would give her the time she needed. He would let her come to him.

He had believed that he could do it, but as the hours and days went by he felt his resolve weakening. Last night he had found himself out side her balcony.

She was sitting outside the wind blowing through her hair staring up at the stars. He knew she was thinking of him. Thinking about Tess and their child and how he had betrayed her. He could see it on her face. It took every ounce of will in him not to run to her and tell her how sorry he was. How Tess never meant anything to him. There was only one woman for him and that was her. He stayed and watched her until she went inside. Then he turned and went home, cold and alone.

That had led him to where he was now. Driving around in circles like a stalker.
That’s when it struck him. Friends. Liz and he had always been friends. Even if she decided that she didn’t want to be with him. They could be friends. That’s when he decided he was going to see her.
*****************************************************

Liz placed the 2 galaxy subs in front of her customers.

“2 Galaxy Subs. Hold the Max.” She grimaced as she said it.

The customers gave her a strange look.

“Sorry. Mayo, hold the Mayo.” She said with a smile.

“Get a hold of yourself. Get Max out of your head.” She whispered.

She knew it wouldn’t work. It had been 3 days since she had left Max at the pod chamber and in that time she had thought about nothing but MAX.

After Max had made the declaration that he was going to find his son, she didn’t know how to react. She wasn’t ready to face him or the questions about their relationship. So she had decided that she wouldn’t go home with him. She asked Michael and Maria if they would drop her at the crashdown on the way to his apartment. She needed time to think. Time to figure out how her and Max fit together. If they fit together.

It was difficult to watch Michael and Maria together. Not that she wasn’t happy for them she was. Michael had turned his back on his destiny. Had chosen Maria over everything else. It just reminded her of what she and Max used to have.

Once upon a time Max would have chosen her over all else but that was a long time ago. That was before Destiny, Before Future Max, and before he betrayed her with Tess.

“Hey Chica. How you holding up?” Maria asked as she filled a soda at the soda machine?

“Ok. I guess. I just told those customers over there that there was no Max on their galaxy subs.”

“Oh you’ve got it bad girl.” Maria said as she started to laugh.

“I know. I just can’t seem to stop thinking about him. I am really trying but I can’t.”

“You still haven’t spoken to him since the murdering ho left?”

Liz smiled as she heard Maria’s name of the day for Tess. Maria had decided that she never wanted to hear her name again and so had taken to creating different names for her.

“No. I haven’t spoken to him. I needed some time to think. Sort things through. I just don’t know how I’m going to deal with his search for his son. I mean I could probably deal with the search, but once he found him… I just don’t know.”

“Oh Chica, you two will work it out. Your Max and Liz. You’re soul mates.”

“I used to think so Maria, but know I’m not so sure.”

“I thought that by know he would have tried to see me.”

“Well you made it pretty clear when we left the pod chamber that you didn’t want to go with him. Maybe he is just respecting your wishes.”

“I know but he always has come to me before. Last night I actually thought I sensed him outside my bedroom window but when I looked no one was there. Ugh. I’m obsessed. It’s like he’s a drug. I know I shouldn’t want him but I do. I really do.”

Suddenly a shiver ran down Liz’s spine. Maria looked up as the café door opened up.

“Liz, Max Evan’s is staring at you again.” Maria said.

“I can’t do this.” Liz mumbled as she rushed to the break Room without even looking in Max’s direction.

Max’s heart sank as he saw Liz take off toward the break room. She doesn’t want to see me. He thought.
He needed to sit down. He walked over to a booth and sat down with his back to the break room. She couldn’t stay back there forever. They had to talk and he wasn’t going anywhere until they did.

“Hi. Max.” Maria said to him trying to be cheerful.

“What can I get you?”

“She doesn’t want to see me does she Maria?”

“Who Liz? I don’t even think she knows you’re here.” Maria said nervously.

Max raised his left eyebrow and made a face.

“Come on Maria. This is me you’re talking to. I know she knows I’m here.”

“Max, she just needs some time to think things through. A lot has gone on in the last couple of months. Give her time. When she’s ready she’ll come to you.”

“I need her Maria. Even if we can’t be together I need to be able to be in the same room with her and not worry that something horrible is going to happen between us. I’m not going anywhere until she talks to me.”

“Ok, have it your way but you could be here a very long time.”

“I have all the time in the world.”

“What can I get you?”

“I’ll have a slice of the Men in Blackberry pie and a coffee.”

“You got it.” She said as she turned and walked to the kitchen.

*****************************************************
“Order up.” Michael said as he rang the bell.

“Liz, order up.” He rang the bell again impatiently.

“Maria, where is Liz? I’ve had this order ready for 5 minutes it’s getting cold.”

“I’ll go get her. She is in the back hiding from his royal highness.”
Michael rolled his eyes.

”I guess they haven’t tried to work their problems out yet.”

“Nope they haven’t even spoken since the other day at the Pod chamber.”

“We have to do something. You saw what happened to us when we allowed ourselves to be divided. We can’t let that happen again. Even if they are not together, they have to be civil to each other.”

“Give them a little more time spaceboy. They’ll come around.”

Maria picked up Liz’s orders brought them to her table and headed for the Break room.

“Liz, are you in here?”

She heard sniffling coming from the stairway.

“I can’t do it Maria. I can’t face him yet.”

“Liz, this can’t go on forever. Even if your not going to get back together with him you have to talk to him.”

“I know but it’s so hard. What do I say?”

“I think that you just go see him and then you will know what to say. He said he is not leaving until you talk to him.”

“Ok. Give me a few minutes and I’ll be out. I need to pull myself together. This isn’t going to be easy”

********************************************************
Isabel stopped short in front of the Crashdown. She had decided that since she had gotten a second chance on earth she was going to make the most of it. She was going to the Library to research The University of New Mexico and check out their education programs. However as she passed the crashdown she had smelt the apple pie and just knew she had to go inside and have some.

She went in and immediately spotted her brother sitting at a booth by himself. He must be here to see Liz she thought. She looked around but didn’t see her. I’m sure he won’t mind if I join him.

“Hey Max.” She said as she slid into the seat across from him.

“Hey Iz. What are you doing here? I thought you were going to the Library.”

“I just got in the mood for some apple pie.”

“How are you doing?”

“I’m ok. I’m just waiting to talk to Liz.”

“You haven’t spoken since Tess left?”

“No and I’m not leaving here until we do.”

“I hope you get what you want Max. We have a second chance here. We all need to make the most of it. If Liz is the person you want to be with then tell her. Don’t wait until it might be to late.”

Max looked at his sister. He knew she was thinking about Alex. They had finally decided that they were going to be together when he was ripped away from her and he knew she felt alone.

“Hi Isabel. Max.” Michael said as he came over to the booth.

“Hi Michael.”

“Here’s your pie.”

“Where’s Maria?” He asked innocently. He knew where she was. She was with Liz.

“I don’t know she had to do something in he back for Mr. Parker.” Michael said nervously.

“Something for Mr. Parker huh.” Max said with a smirk.

“More like Ms. Parker.” Max mumbled under his breath.

“So how did you explain the missing jeep to your Parents?” Michael asked.

“We told them we went to the new Mall down in Hondo and it was stolen.”

Isabel watched her brother explain to Michael the cover story about the Jeep.

She watched as her brother picked up the Tabasco sauce.

Her stomach began to do flip-flops.

He is NOT going to put that on his pie. Is he? She thought.

Of Course he is. That’s what they always did. It was good. In fact it was one of her favorites. Then why did she suddenly feel that if he did it she was going to be sick?

Max began to pour the Tabasco on his pie. He took a huge fork full and began to bring it toward his mouth.

Isabel looked away.

“Excuse me I have to use the ladies room.” She said as she quickly got up and left the table.

Max watched as his normally poised sister bolted toward the bathroom.

“What do you think that was all about?” He asked.

“I don’t know I guess she just really had to pee.” Michael said.

“So Maxwell what’s up with you and Liz?”

“Nothing. We haven’t spoken since Tess left.”

“Do you still want to be with her?’

“Of course I do Michael. It’s not me. It’s Liz. God I slept with Tess. How could I do that? What was I thinking? Do you know I don’t even really remember it.”

“What are you talking about? You told me it lasted like a half hour.”

“One more reason to be jealous of you man.”

“Yeah I’m someone you want to be jealous of.” Max said sarcastically.

“At least you are with the women you love.”

“Yeah your right. I do love Maria and I wouldn’t give up anything we have together. Not even for a half hour of alien sex.”

“So what do you mean you don’t remember?”

“Well I remember being at the observatory and kissing Tess and I remember waking up with her and knowing that we had slept together. But I don’t remember the actually act. I have these feelings about what it was like but I can’t actually remember me and her doing it.”

“This one event causes your whole life to crumble and you can’ even remember it. It sucks to be you man.”

“I wish it never happened but I can’t change it now. I need to find my son. He needs me. I mean for God’s sake Tess is his mother. I bet he doesn’t mean anything to her.”

“I don’t know Maxwell. What ever Tess was she seemed to really care about that Baby.”

“I guess. She would have to really have no soul if she didn’t. I just hope she can protect him.”

“Well, if your going to focus on finding him you have to work through your stuff with Liz.”

“I know. That’s why I’m here.”

“If this was last year, I would have probably told you to forget about her. But I have seen you with her and without her and trust me your much better with her.”

“Who are you and what have you done with Michael.” Max said with a smile.

“Yeah well I guess I just realized what’s really important and it’s not some far away Planet. I got to get back to the kitchen I’ll catch you later.”

“I’ll be here.” Max said as he took another bite of his pie.
*********************************************************

Isabel walked over to the sink and splashed water on her face.

What on earth was wrong with her?

She had just rushed into the bathroom and for the first time in her life vomited.

She had never been sick a day in her life. None of them had. So what was going on?

All sorts of questions began filling her mind.

Was this some sort of side effect from the Granolith leaving? Was it because the other female hybrid had left Earth? Was she going to get worse? Was she going to die?

She began to feel very dizzy. She grabbed a hold of the sink to steady herself.

There was a knock on the door.

“Just a second.” She yelled back.

“Isabel it’s Maria are you ok?”

“I’m fine. Just give me a second.” She lied.

She had to go out there and see her brother and Michael. She couldn’t let them see her like this. She had to pull herself together. She didn’t want to worry them until she knew what was going on.

She heard Michael and Maria arguing outside the Bathroom.

“Michael I told you No Mayo on those Galaxy subs.”

“Oh give them to me.” He grumbled.

“Don’t do it the easy way make them from scratch.”

“What’s your problem? Do you have PMS?” Michael said

“How dare you Michael. Just because…”

Isabel didn’t hear the rest of the conversation.

“Oh my god.”

Isabel unlocked the door and hurried out of the bathroom.

“Max, I’ve got to go.”

“Is everything all right?” He asked.

“Yeah fine I just remembered that I was supposed to go by the Nursing home and volunteer today. With everything that’s going on I just forgot.”

“Ok. I’ll see you later.”

Isabel didn’t say anything. She just turned and walked away. As she left she didn’t even notice Kyle waving at her. She just kept walking.

Part 3

Liz took a deep breath and walked towards the dining area. Her shift had just ended and she knew that she was going to have to face Max.

He had come in earlier in the day and Maria had told her that he wasn’t planning on leaving until he spoke with her. That was 5 hours ago.

After about an hour of praying he would leave she went over and told him that if he came back after her shift they would talk.

He said it was fine if they talked after her shift but if she didn’t mind he would just hang out and wait for her.

He had no intention of letting her sneak away before they could talk.

So here she was. It was the end of her shift and Max was behind those doors.

“Here goes nothing.”

She pushed her way through the doors and walked over to his table.

She could feel the air come alive around them. It was almost like a magnetic pull.

God he looked good. He was wearing a pair of tight fitting blue jeans and a black T-shirt that hugged every muscle of his abs and chest.

“Focus Parker.” She mumbled.

“Hi.” She said as she slid into the seat across from him.

He looked up at her and smiled.

“Hi.” He said back.

She looked beautiful. She had changed out of her crashdown uniform and was now wearing a pair of tight fitting black capris and a red halter-top. Her hair was pulled away from her face and she was chewing on her lower lip. God he just wanted to kiss her.

“Can we go some place more private?” He asked.

“Sure, what did you have in mind?”

“How about the Park?”

“Ok. Let me get my jacket.”

He watched her go into the breakroom. It felt so good to be near her. He just had to work things out with her. He needed her. He would make her see that she needed him too.
*********************************************************

Isabel held the paper bag in her hand.

She walked to the bathroom and closed the door. She pulled the rectangular box out of the bag and opened it and read the directions.

“Pee on the stick. Sounds easy enough.” She sighed.

But none of this was easy. She didn’t know if she was right or even if this would work. So she took a deep breath followed the directions and turned on the timer.

If only Alex were here he would know what to do. She needed him right now more then anyone could know. She closed her eyes and thought back to the last time they had been together. The moment that had brought her here.

Roswell High Prom

"You look beautiful Isabel."

"Alex, you always know the perfect things to say."

"Thank you so much for taking me to the Prom. There is no one I would rather spend my prom with then you."

"Isabel, don't say that. If you don't really mean it don't say it. Because you say that and I fall again hard. Then tomorrow you decide you want to go slow and I am left in the same spot I was a couple of months ago."

Isabel looked up into his eyes. She could see all his love for her and all the pain that she had caused him every time she rejected him.

"Alex, I mean it. There is no one that I would rather be here with then you. I have a lot that I need to tell you. Do you think that we could go somewhere more private?"

Alex looked at her in amazement.
Isabel Evans wanted to go somewhere more private with him. To tell him how she felt.

"Your wish is my command my lady." Alex said as he put his arm out for her to take.

Isabel took Alex's arm as he led her toward his fathers Lincoln Town Car. He walked her over to the passenger side and opened the door.

"Your chariot awaits my lady." He said with a smile.

"Thank you Alex."

"Where too?"

"Let's go to the desert. I want to look at the stars."

Isabel knew that this was the most important moment in her life. She was about to tell Alex how she felt about him. She had always hid her feelings from him, from everyone. These past couple of months without him had been pure torture. She never realized what she had until she almost lost him. Now she just hoped that he could forgive her.

Alex pulled the car to a stop and hopped out. He ran to Isabel’s door and opened it.

Always the gentlemen. She thought to herself.

Alex laid the blanket he had taken from the trunk on the ground and sat down.

Isabel sat down next to him.

She moved closer to him.

"I have always had a fascination with the stars. I used to look up at them at night and wonder which one was mine. Where did I belong?"

"It must have been really hard for you. Not knowing where you were from”. Alex said as he pulled her close to him.

"It was. The stars were always separate from earth to me. That is until I stargazed with you in Frasier woods."

"You remember that?" he said surprised.

"Of course I remember that. It was when I first realized that you really accepted me for me. You knew what I was and you didn't care. After that I never looked at the stars the same again. Every time I looked at the stars after that I didn't automatically think about where I belonged. I thought about you. When I look at the stars I'll always think of you."

She turned and looked at him.

"Isabel…"

"No Alex let me finish. I was scared. Scared of the way that I felt about you. I didn't know how to let somebody in. I was afraid that if I let my guard down and needed someone that I would get hurt. That’s why I used to go out with all those superficial guys. I knew that it would never be anything more then a date. You were different. You made me feel things that I had never felt before. So I pushed you away. Then when you left for Sweden... I realized how much I missed you and how much I really need you. What I'm trying to say Alex is... I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I want to start over. To be with you. I love you."

Alex stared at her his eyes glistening with unshed tears. He could not believe that Isabel Evans had just declared her love for him. Had been so open with him.

He cupped her face in his hands.

"Isabel Evan's, I have been waiting my whole life to hear you say that. I love you."

Slowly he pressed his lips against her soft waiting lips. She deepened the kiss. She could feel the passion growing between them. It felt so good, so right.

They both lay down on the blanket. Isabel pressed her body against Alex's. A moan escaped his lips.

"Isabel... we have to stop."

"No Alex. I Love you. I want to be with you."

"Isabel are you sure?"

She pulled back and looked him directly in the eyes.

"I have never been more sure about anything in my entire life."

With those words Alex placed his lips on hers.

"I love you too Isabel Evans."
That was the last coherent thought he had before he and Isabel became one.

They awoke the next morning wrapped in each other’s arms. Isabel looked down at Alex and smiled.

"Hey sleepy head."

"What time is it?" Alex said sleepily.

"6:30"

Alex shot straight up.

"Your parents are going to murder me."

Isabel began to laugh.

"Calm down. I told them I was spending the night at Maria's."

Alex's body relaxed.

"So are you hungry?" Isabel asked.

"After last night I'm famished."

Isabel blushed and looked down.

Alex's heart began to pound in his chest. She regretted what happened between them. She was going to tell him they needed to go more slowly. She was going to rip his heart from his chest and stomp on it. He knew it was to good to be true.

"Are you sorry about last night?"

She looked up at him.

"Oh God Alex no. Last night was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. I'll remember it always."

"I feel like Hans Solo in Return of the Jedi. Only you are 1000 times prettier then Princess Leia." He said with a smile
She giggled and then her thoughts turned to her brothers.

"Alex, would you mind if we kept this part of the night between us. I don't look forward to telling my brothers we have been… well intimate."

"Of course I don’t mind. Please warn me when they find out. I want to be out of blasting range when they do. I may feel like Hans solo but I don’t have the force on my side.” He said only half joking.

Alex rose to his feet and held out his hand.

“Lets go to the Crashdown and get some breakfast.” He said.

“I love you Alex Whitman.” She said as she grabbed his hand and was pulled to her feet.

They did not know that would be one of their last happy moments.

Isabel was brought out of the memory by the sound of the timer going off.

“The moment of Truth. Alex I wish you were here.” She said as she walked over to the test stick and looked down.

**********************************************************
Liz and Max were sitting on a bench in the Park in an awkward silence.

“So, how are you doing?” Liz asked as she finally broke the silence.

“I’m ok. I’ll be even better if you and I can get things resolved between us.”

“Max, I don’t think it’s that simple. A lot has happened. Alex is dead. You have a child on the way. These aren’t just little teenage problems anymore.”

“Liz, I’m an alien. They were never just simple teenage problems.”

“I know but now it is on a higher level.” She said as she stood up.

“I know that you don’t want to die for me. You told me as much but I need you.”

Liz gasped as she heard his words. She couldn’t believe that he actually had believed her when she said that. Then she realized that it all came down to Future Max and in that moment she decided to tell him, everything.

“Max, that’s not true. I owe you my life. I love you even after everything that has happened I would give my life for yours. Even now. How could you ever doubt that?”

“You told me that you didn’t want to die for me. You said I was too dangerous. That you wanted Normal. I never wanted to believe it but then you made it look like you and Kyle were together. Why did you do that? Do you know how much I hurt?”

“Stop, Max! Stop! I never wanted to do any of that. You! You made me do that. I had no other choice.”

“Oh great! How exactly did I make you pretend to sleep with Kyle? The whole thing makes no sense at all.”

Liz sat down. It hadn’t come out the way she wanted. She had waited so long to tell him this. Had agonized over what implications his knowing might have. She had to tell him now. Everything that she had done had been for nothing. Tess was gone now anyway. She wouldn’t be there when the time came for them to prevent the end of the world. Telling him now would just serve the purpose of explaining her actions.

“Max, please sit down. I’m going to tell you what made me do everything I did. You have to promise me that you will let me tell the story without interruption. OK?’

Max sat down. He could see what ever she had to tell him was very painful.

“Ok. I’ll listen.”

“Last year after I came back from Florida I was still very confused. I didn’t know where we stood. Then you kept coming to me and telling me you still loved me. I started to believe that maybe we were meant to be together. You were breaking through. Everything that you did was so sweet and beautiful. I thought maybe we could make it work.”

“So what happened to change that Liz?”

She looked up at him with tears in her Eyes.

“You. You came to me and changed my mind. Well not exactly you a future version of you. A you from 14 years in the future.”

“Liz, What are you talking about? That’s not possible.”

“You told me you would let me finish before you said anything.”

“Ok. I’m Sorry.”

“I didn’t believe him at first either. I thought he was a shapeshifter or an evil alien but… He knew things. Things only a future you would know. It was the night that you serenaded me. He knew that you were going to do that before it happened. He told me that our relationship was going to change. That you were going to come to my window and ask me to go to the Gomez concert and that we would cement our relationship that night.”

Max looked at her in shock. He couldn’t believe what she was telling him.

“I don’t understand. That all sounds good to me.”

“It was good it was wonderful but it led to disaster. Once we ugh… cemented…” She blushed slightly

“…Tess knew she could never be with you. She left Roswell. 14 Years later because Tess wasn’t here when your enemies attacked earth the world comes to an end.”

Liz began to cry. They were tears of sadness for what had been lost and changed and tears of relief that he finally knew the truth.

“So I came back and asked you to not let these things happen. I asked you to push me towards Tess. That’s why you said all those things to me and that’s why you pretended to sleep with Kyle.”

Liz looked up at Max and stopped crying.

“It was the hardest thing I ever had to do…to tell you I wouldn’t die for you. I came back and Future Max was still here. He said it didn’t work that I had to do something else but I couldn’t. What I had done… Well I just couldn’t bare it anymore. He said that before he had left Isabel had died and Michael a few days before. I had to do something. Then I was talking to Maria and she said how she could never forgive Michael for being with another woman and I knew what I had to do.”

She looked at him again tears threatening to spill at any moment.

“I had no choice. In the long run the fate of the earth and the lives of our friends seemed to out weigh my happiness. I knew I was giving up 14 Years of happiness. I was giving up the chance of being your wife.”

Max’s head shot up and his eyes met hers.

“Wife? We got married.”

“Yes. We eloped…In Vegas.”

“Oh my God. That Flash that I had when we were in Vegas… IT was real or at least it should have been. Why didn’t you come to me? Tell me what was going on.”

“He told me that I couldn’t that it was dangerous enough him seeing me.”

“I can’t believe that I would do that to you. Put all of this on you. What kind of person did I become?”

“No Max, you loved me. I could see how hard it was for you and Future me had decided with him that was the right thing to do. Our friends and family were dying. You did only what we thought would fix things.”

“A lot of good that did us. Alex is dead. Tess killed him and she’s gone. So where does that leave us. He may have changed the future but I’m not so sure it was for the better. How could I have been so stupid? There were so many other things that I could have done.”

“He did what he had to do. What he thought was right for their time.”

“How do we deal with this? I mean where do we go from here. Tess, and my son are still out there? That hasn’t changed.”

Liz’s stomach dropped. He was right. Nothing had changed. No matter how much she loved him there would always be Tess and the baby between them. She knew she was partly to blame. If she had forced future Max to go to one of the others they might still be together. Alex might still be alive but Liz had decided a long time ago that she couldn’t let her life be ruled by what ifs. The fact was her soul mate had slept with Tess and now they had a child on the way. It had to be dealt with. She couldn’t deny it any longer.

“I always thought that we would be each others first. I know that’s silly with me pushing you away and towards her but part of me always believed it.”

Max couldn’t look her in the eye. He could here the pain in her voice. He had caused her so much pain from the present and the future. He wanted to hold her and try and take away the pain but he knew it wasn’t the right thing to do. Not now anyway.

“Liz, I’m so sorry I just…”

“Max, Please let me finish. This has been a long night and if I don’t say what I have to say now it might never get said. Future Max said the future was undetermined and deep down I thought that meant we still had a chance. I don’t know if we still have that chance.”

Max looked up and was about to protest when he remembered that he said he would let her finish. His heart began to race. He knew what came next she was going to tell him that they were through. That she wanted nothing more to do with him. He didn’t know if he could take that.

“What I do know is you. I know that you will stop at nothing till you find your son. I don’t know how I fit into that picture. I do know that I love you and that I need you in my life. We need to take time and see where this goes. I can’t promise you will be together but I can promise you I will always be here for you.”

Max took her hand.

“I’m so sorry for all the pain I have caused you, me and my future self. You’re a strong and beautiful woman. I owe you so much. I only hope that one day I can show you how much I love you and what you mean to me. Until that day…”

He brought her hand to his lips.
When he kissed her hand a shiver ran through her. The jolt of energy that ran through her body almost brought her to her knees. If one touch did this to her then this was not going to be easy.”

“We have always been friends Max. I think we start there.” She said with a smile.

“I’m just happy that we start somewhere.”

Thanks for all the feedback. I hope that you like this part. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Stronger Together

DIsclamier: I don't own anything Roswell. I'm just borrowing the characters. However any characters I create are mine.

Summarry:Post Departure. Tess has just left and something strange is going on with Isabel. M/M are happy together. Max and Liz are trying to work things through. Kyle is trying to work through all the Tess stuff with Tess and Isabel's dealing with her own issues with Alex's death.

Part 4

Kyle pulled his car in front of the Evans house.

The look on Isabel’s face as she was leaving the Crashdown had haunted him all day long.

“What am I doing here?” He mumbled to himself.

He really didn’t understand what he was doing there. He knew Isabel. Even before he was pulled into the alien abyss but he wouldn’t have actually called her one of his friends. Yet something was telling him she needed him. Maybe it was because they had both lost someone and were both alone.

Yeah but Isabel lost a great guy and you lost his murder. He thought to himself

Even now after all that had happened, all that he knew he still had a hard time believing it. How could the girl who lived with him and who had become part of his family be the same girl who killed Alex?

Kyle pushed the thoughts of Tess out of his mind and walked to the front door.

When he reached the front door he found it slightly ajar.

He knocked.

“Hello, Mrs. Evans, Isabel. Is anyone home?” He yelled.

There was no answer.

Kyle debated what his next move should be. Something might be wrong. This could be a robbery in progress or worse an alien invasion.

He checked the door for any sign of forced entry. There was none. He pushed the door open and peered inside. There was no sign of a struggle.

He thought maybe he should call someone, his father or Max. Then he decided not to. There were no signs of forced entry. There were no signs of a struggle. His Dad had other things on his mind. As for Max, well the last thing Kyle wanted to do was call and ask Max for help.

“I’ll just go in and check things out. I mean I have picked some skills up being the son of the Sheriff.

Kyle walked in to the house. He again called for Isabel or Mrs. Evans. There was still no reply.

He looked around. He had dropped Isabel off a couple of times but he had never actually been inside the Evan’s house before. You could definitely tell women lived here. It was neat and organized and had those womanly touches of curtains and flowers and the smell of potpourri. Kyle noticed because the only times his house had been like this was when his mom was still around and when Tess lived with them.

He walked through the Living room and dining room. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He poked his head in the kitchen. Again there was nothing unusual.

Kyle spied a plate of cookies on the counter.

I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if I had one. I mean I am checking out the place for them.

Kyle took a bite into the cookie. He spit it out into his hand.

“Great Buddha what the hell are in these things?”

Mental note avoid Mrs. Evans cookies.

He left the kitchen and walked up the 4 stairs to where the bedrooms were.

He passed their parents room. Nothing was out of the ordinary.

He peered into Max’s room. Nothing. Then he looked in Isabel’s room. Again everything seemed fine.

I guess everything’s fine he thought. I better get out of here before someone catches me. Even though I was just checking things out. These are aliens with trust issues. They might zap first ask questions later. He turned to leave when he heard something from the bathroom.

It sounded like someone tossing their cookies. It had to be Mrs. Evans. He turned to go when her heard a voice.

“Oh God. What am I going to do?”

It’s Isabel. How could it be? The aliens don’t get sick. He thought to himself. She may need my help.

He reached for the doorknob.

******Flash*************

Kyle is standing by the bathroom door in his house. Sounds of vomiting are coming from the room.

“Tess, it’s me Kyle. Are you ok in there?”

The door opens.

Tess is standing before him. She is pale and she has been crying.

“Tess what’s wrong? Are you sick? I thought you couldn’t get sick.”

“Oh Kyle.” She threw her arms around him.

“It’s ok. Whatever it is it’s ok. We will deal with it together.”

“I’m pregnant. Are you upset?”

That was the last thing he expected to hear. He pulled her from his chest and looked into her eyes.

“Wow a baby.”

“You are upset aren’t you?”

“No, no. I’m just surprised. Is the baby ok? I mean you know.”

“Yes, he’s fine.” She smiled.

“He? It’s a boy?”

She smiled as she nodded.

He smiled back at her.
“I’m happy Tess. This may not be the ideal time for a baby but will deal with it.”

Oh Kyle…”

Kyle!!! Kyle!!! Isabel yelled again.

He was pulled back to reality by Isabel’s screams.

What was that? He thought to himself. Where am I? He looked around and remembered where he was.

“Isabel, are you ok?”

“I’m fine. What the hell are you doing in my house?”

“I came by to see you and the front door was open and when I rang the bell no one answered. So…” He was rambling on.

“So you decided to come in and check things out.”

Her body relaxed a bit. She liked the fact that Kyle had been concerned about her. At least somebody was. That still didn’t change the fact that he had just witnessed her being sick.

“Thanks Kyle but I’m fine.”

“You sure didn’t sound fine a few minutes ago.”

“I must have eaten something that didn’t agree with me.”

Kyle made a face at her.

“That excuse might work on some other human but this human lived with an alien woman. And a pregnant alien woman at that.”

She was caught. Her secret was out.
Kyle knew she was pregnant.

Strangely, she wasn’t at all upset about it. She felt relieved that someone knew.

“I’m pregnant Kyle.”

Kyle nodded his head at her. He had suspected that was the case.

He remembered when Tess had told him she was pregnant with Max’s child. She had the same symptoms.

Then there was the memory flash he just had. What was that?

He couldn’t think about that right now. HE had to help Isabel.

“Are you sure?” He asked. Knowing the answer.

“Yes and to answer your next question, its Alex’s.”

Hey, It's been a crazy week her. Thanks for all the feedback.

Krazykitti- I wanted Isabel to have a part of alex. I always felt like the writers ignored their relationship. I'm not really sure what direction I'm taking with Tess's child yet.

roswellluver- One of the best things about the end of season 2 and season 3 was Kyle and Isabel's friendship. I don't know why they threw Jessie in the mix.

BeherBear- Isabel did always treat Alex like crap. Until the prom. Then she realized what she had and lost it. It always bothered me that poor Alex dided a virginlol. This fic sort of all started because of that and an idea about Kyle that will appear later on.

Hope you like this next part.

Part 5
Stronger Together.

Kyle drove home in stunned shock. He had gone over to Isabel’s to check and see if she was ok and got a whole lot more then he had bargained for.

Isabel Evans was pregnant.

That was shock enough but to find out that the baby was Alex’s well that threw him for a loop.

When he first came to the realization that Isabel was pregnant he had assumed that it was alien related. That at some point one of the evil aliens who were after them had gotten a hold of her and either she didn’t remember or she hadn’t told them. It wasn’t a pleasant thought but at the time it explained things too him.

Alex being the baby’s father never even crossed his mind. He knew that Alex and Isabel had gotten close again right before he died. He just didn’t know that they had gotten that close. Even if he had known he still wouldn’t have suspected. Could aliens and humans actually have children together? They knew that aliens could have children with each other. Tess and Max were proof of that. But human and Alien’s together? Was that possible? He guessed so. Isabel’ baby was proof of that.

This was all too much for him to handle. In the last couple of weeks his world had fallen apart. First Alex had been killed. Then Tess had gotten Pregnant. They had decided they had to go back to Antar. He had remembered that Tess killed Alex and the role that he had played in that and now this. It was too much for any one person to deal with.

Then there was the vision he had earlier at Isabel’s. He had been pushing it out if his mind. Trying not to think about it but as he pulled in front of his house and turned the car off it was all he could think about. The memory of it was blurry but it was there.

“I’m pregnant. Are you upset?”

That was the last thing he expected to hear. He pulled her from his chest and looked into her eyes.

“Wow a baby.”

“You are upset aren’t you?”

“No, no. I’m just surprised. Is the baby ok? I mean you know.”

“Yes, he’s fine.” She smiled.

“He? It’s a boy?”

She smiled as she nodded.

What did it mean?

Had Tess told him about the baby before anyone else.

And why did she ask him if he were upset? Why should he have any feelings about the baby?

Was he fantasizing about an alternate universe where they were together or was his brain so screwed up from the mindwarp that he was jumbling things up?

He ran his hands over his face and rubbed his eyes. He was tired. He couldn’t think about this anymore. He needed to sleep. Maybe in the morning things would be clearer. He would have to meditate on it.

*********************************************************

Kyle had fallen asleep the minute that his head hit the pillow. He barely had the energy to change into his boxers. He had not slept this sound in a long time. With sleep came the dreams.

*************Kyle’s Dream*********************

Kyle is alone in his bedroom meditating.

“Hmmm…. Hmmm…”

“Help me achieve the answers I seek.”

“This isn’t working.” He mumbles.

“I’m too tense. I can’t clear my mind.”

Tess materializes in the room. She is wearing nothing but a pair of his boxers and a very tight T-shirt.

“You. What are you doing here? You’re the cause of my tension.”

“How could you do it Tess? How could you destroy my life like this?”

“Kyle, forget all that. I can make you feel things you wouldn’t even imagine.”

“Let me take the tension away.”

She moved towards him. She placed her hand on his shoulder. It’s me Kyle. You know you want me.

“He closed his eyes. No, no, no. You’re evil. I can’t love you. You killed Alex.”

He tried to break free of her but he couldn’t. She pushed him on the bed. He couldn’t move. Her hands were places… well they were places that the enemies hands just shouldn’t be. He knew he should fight should stop her, but he didn’t want to. She placed her lips on his. Her tongue darted in and out of his mouth. It felt so good, so right.

Just as he was about to lose control the closet door flew open and someone came walking out.

It was another Tess.

This Tess was different. She was not wearing boxers and a T-shirt but rather a pair of his old sweat pants and football Jersey. She looked tired and weak and he could see the bulge of her belly.

He pushed the other Tess off him and she dematerialized.

“Tess.” He whispered.

Part 6

Tess sat on the floor of the pod chamber.

She had been there for 4 days now and who knew how many more she would be.

She couldn’t go out. Couldn’t let anyone find her. She couldn’t let anyone hurt her baby.

Not until it was safely born. No this was where she would stay until her son was born.

She was sure glad that she had insisted that they pack the chamber with enough food and water for them each to survive for a month +. At least she didn’t have to worry about nourishment.

Now loneliness that was a different story. After being a part of a group loneliness was the worst feeling that one could possible have. Even if she had forced her way into one.

They all hated her now anyway. After what she had done why shouldn’t they? But they didn’t know the whole story. Maybe if they knew they would understand. Not forgive her but understand.

She pulled the blanket over her and pulled a picture of Kyle from her bag.

“I’m so sorry Kyle. I never meant for any of this to happen.”

She placed the picture of Kyle on her chest and began to sob softly.

The worst part of all of this had been that she had lost Kyle. He was the one person that had ever meant anything to her.

She had tried to convince herself that Max was her husband. That he was the one she was supposed to be with but the more time she spent with Kyle the less she believed it. Nasedo had told her that she had a purpose. Above everything else she had to remember that purpose. So she had continually pushed Kyle away and pursued her so called destiny.

“Destiny.” The word rolled off her tongue like a curse.

It was Kyle, she needed. Kyle she wanted. If only she had just followed her heart. She wouldn’t be in this mess. She would be living her dream with Kyle.

“Dream. That’s it.”

I’ll dreamwalk him.

Tess knew she had the ability to do it. Though she only had used it a couple of times. All the hybrids had the same powers. Some were just stronger in one then the other.

She smiled.

She would dreamwalk Kyle and try to explain.

**********************************************************

She closed her eyes and cleared her mind. She thought of Kyle.
The way he looked the way he smelled, the way his lips felt when they touched hers.

Suddenly Tess was no longer in the pod chamber. She was on the dream plain. She looked around. There was a rainbow of colors swirling around her. Each color was a string that was connected to someones dream. If you touched the string you could get a sense of who’s dream it was. If you were connected to someone their string was attracted to you.

Tess had numerous strings attracted to her but one in particular was wrapping around her waist. It was a dark forest green. The sensation it was causing up her spine made her giggle. It could only be Kyle.

Tess pulled on the string and a doorway appeared.

“Here goes nothing.” She said.

She opened the door and was flung into Kyle’s dream.

She looked at dream Tess on top of Kyle.

Maybe this won’t be that hard after all. She thought.

***********Kyle’s Dream***************

“What are you doing here?” Kyle asked.

“I came to see you? To talk to you about the baby.” She said as she touched her belly.

“Don’t try and play the baby card with me. I have nothing to say to you.”

“But Kyle you have to understand why I did what I did.”

“I have to understand why you used me. Why you murdered Alex!!! I’ll never understand it.” He yelled.

“But Kyle that’s not the way it was if you just listen to me.”

“So you want me to listen to you to let you in, like I did before. So you can use me again. How could I have been so stupid. I loved you and you used me.”

Tears ran down Tess’s face.

“Kyle, please, you’re wrong. You have to listen to me.”

She began to move toward him.

Kyle placed his hand out in front of him.

“No, don’t come any closer!! I mean it.”
He closed his eyes.

“Wake up!!! Wake up!!! It’s a dream.” He yelled.

As Tess was about to reach him she was thrust back on the dream plain and then she found herself back in the pod chamber.

Tess sobbed uncontrollable.

“He hates me. If he wouldn’t give me a chance to explain no one will.”

”I’m sorry little one I tried.”

At the exact time Tess found herself in the pod chamber Kyle Valenti woke up screaming.

“It was only a dream. Just a dream.” he whispered.

Then why was there a voice in the back of his head screaming that he should have listened to what she had to say?

Here is the next part. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

Part 7

Isabel walked down the hall toward the kitchen very quietly.

She had heard Max come in really late the night before and thought that if she was fast enough she could avoid meeting up with him at breakfast.

She knew that the minute her brother saw her he would know that something was wrong.

She had already thrown up twice this morning and it showed. Her normally rosy skin was very pale. She had tried to cover it up with makeup and her powers and she had done a pretty good job. She had already seen her Mom and she hadn’t mentioned anything but Max he would know.

She walked through the kitchen and saw her Mom at the kitchen stove making breakfast.

“Hi sweetie, can I make you some waffles?”

Waffles sounded fabulous to her but she knew she had no time.

“I don’t think so.” She said sounding a little disappointed.

“Are you sure Isabel? You haven’t been eating that much lately. Are you feeling ok?”

“I’m fine Mom. I’ve just been really busy trying to decide what I am going to do in September.”

“Have you made any decisions?” She asked.

Sure Mom. I have Plans. I plan to be the size of a whale and have the first half human half alien baby. She thought to herself.

“No, I’m still looking into some colleges.”

“Well you know I hope that you stay in New Mexico. So I can still see you every know and then. I can’t believe that you’re going to college.” She shook her head with a sad smile.

Isabel and her Mom had always been close. She knew that her mom was worried that she would move far away and hardly ever see her. She could only imagine what she would have gone through had Max and she left on the granolith. Thank God that hadn’t happened.

“Well you’ll be happy to know that I most probably will be staying close by.”

“Oh Isabel that’s wonderful. I just couldn’t take not seeing you every once in a while.”

Isabel hugged her mom. In that moment she wanted nothing more then to tell her Mom everything.

Tell her who she really was, about Alex and about her baby.

But she knew that she couldn’t do that. Michael Max and she had all promised not to let anyone in on their secret. It was just too dangerous. It made sense at the time but in this moment she hated that promise.

“You sure I can’t tempt you with these waffles?” Her mom said grinning from ear to ear.

“As much as I’d love to I really have to go. I’m supposed to meet someone for breakfast.”

“Ok sweetie. Oh I forgot. Max told me to tell you that you he and Michael were going to have dinner at the crashdown tonight and they wanted you to join them.”

Isabel’s stomach did flip- flops. She knew that dinner at the crashdown meant there was going to be a meeting. She also knew that meant she wasn’t going to be able to hide her condition from Max and Michael.

“Ok. Mom. Bye.” She managed to choke out as she rushed out the door.

Today was going to be a very long day.

*******************************************************
Kyle yawned loudly and poured himself another cup of coffee.

After his dream about Tess he hadn’t been able to fall asleep again.

Part of him was afraid that she might be there again waiting for him and part of him was worried she wouldn’t be.

He didn’t know what to do. He loved Tess. At least he loved the Tess he thought he knew, the Tess that would watch movies with him and joke with him. The girl who prepared Christmas dinner and desperately wanted a family.

But that was the Tess his heart remembered. His mind knew that Tess was an evil person who had manipulated them all and had killed Alex just so she could go back to her planet.

His dream had been so strange. First there was one Tess. The one his mind knew and then there was the other Tess. The one his heart knew.

Could it have really been her? He knew that Isabel could dreamwalk but could Tess?

The ringing of the phone interrupted Kyle’s thoughts.

“Hello” he said groggily.

“Hi Kyle. It’s Maria.”

“Hey. Your Mom’s not here.”

“What? I wasn’t looking for my Mom. Why would my Mom be at your house at this time in the Morning?" Maria rambled on."

" Ew. You know that’s just creepy.”

“Yeah well try living here. So what’s up?”

“There is going to be a meeting tonight after the Crashdown closes. Can you make it?”

Kyle sighed. He was really hoping to get a break from this alien business. It didn’t look like that was in the cards for him.

“Yeah sure, I’ll be there.”

“Ok. I’ll see you then.”

Kyle hung up the phone and walked to the shower.

“Time to start this days episode of These Are Our Alien Lives.” He said sarcasticly.

********************************************************

“Can I get you anything else?” Liz asked the last customers in the Crashdown.

“No, that will be all.”

Liz handed them the check.

“You have a nice night.” She said with a smile.

Liz walked over to the booth where Maria and Kyle were sitting and sat down.

“Thank God I can sit down.” She said.

“Tough day?” Kyle asked.

“Tough week.” She sighed.

“Yeah I know what you mean.” Kyle replied in agreement.

Maria looked at her friends. The both looked exhausted. She had known Liz a long time and she knew when something was wrong and Kyle she had known Kyle a long time too and though they hadn’t become close until the last couple of months she could tell there was something that was bothering him to.

“Well the 2 of you look like the walking dead.” She finally said.

“Thanks a lot Maria.” Liz said.

“It hasn’t been an easy couple of weeks. Not all of us ended up like you and Michael.” Liz said a little bitterly.

Maria looked at her. She knew that she probably should be upset at the way that Liz had just said that but she wasn’t. She knew it must be hard for Liz to see her and Max together. After all she remembered when the roles were reversed only a year ago. When Michael and she had been the ones apart.

“So this is about Max?” She said ignoring her tone.

“Isn’t it always?” Liz said with a sigh.

“Did you guys get anything cleared up?” she asked hopefully.

“I guess so. I told him about Future Max and everything else.”

“Excuse me? Future Max?” What are you talking about?” Kyle asked.

Liz sighed.

“Here is the short version. A future version of Max came to me and said basicly that if I didn’t get Tess and Max together it would lead to the end of the world.” Liz told him.

“You’re joking right?”

“Unfortunately I’m not.”

A light bulb suddenly went off in his head.

“That is why you had me come over that night. I never really understood it before. I mean how could you have known Max would show up? Now it all makes sense.”

“I never thanked you for that Kyle. For just doing what I asked and never asking questions. So thanks.”

“I figured if you ever wanted me to know you would tell me. I’m just glad I was able to be there for you.” He said with a smile.

“Well I hate to interrupt this really sweet moment between you two but Max will be here any minute. I don’t think I can wait. So spill.”

Liz laughed.

“Well, naturally he was shocked.”

“Why am I not surprised. For a king he really doesn’t have much of a clue. I mean even I figured out something was not right.”

Liz ignored Kyle’s comment and continued.

“He said he was sorry and that he wished that I didn’t have to go through that.”

“And what about everything else?” Maria asked.

“Well we really didn’t get into the whole Tess thing. I just couldn’t. Not after having to relive the whole future Max ordeal.”

“So where does that leave the 2 of you as a couple?” she asked.

“I guess where not a couple. We are just friends.”

“I’m still really confused. I still don’t know how I feel about the whole baby issue. It may be a terrible thing to say but I don’t know if I want to be in a relationship that has so much emotional baggage. I need to see what happens and how I fit into it after it happens.” Liz sighed.

“I understand Chica, but part of me still believes that the 2 of you will find your way back to each other.”

“I hope so Maria. I really do.” She said with a half smile.

“Enough about my depressing relationships. How are you and Michael doing?” she asked trying to change the subject.

A huge smile graced Maria’s lips at the mention of Michael’s name.

“It’s been wonderful. He’s been wonderful. Let me tell you Liz if you really want a regular guy it’s a good thing you never cemented with Max. Being with an alien just might have ruined me for all other men.”

“Tell me about it.” Kyle said in a huff.

Liz and Maria turned to look at Kyle in shock.

“Is there something you want to tell us Kyle?” Maria asked.

“Ugh. No. I don’t really know where that came from. I guess if I’m so screwed up just living with one it would be really hard after sleeping with one.”

Kyle really didn’t know where that had come from. He didn’t remember ever being with Tess but what Maria said really rang true with him.

“Can we please change the subject. Even though we have bonded over the last couple of months the less I know about your otherworldly sex life the better.” Kyle said.

Liz and Maria both laughed.

“Where is everyone?” Maria asked.

No sooner did she ask the question then Liz had turned around and Max had walked through the crashdown doors.

Their eyes locked together and a faint smile crossed his lips. Just seeing her still made his heart skip a beat.

He walked over to the table.

“Hey, sorry that I’m late. I went by my house to see if Isabel needed a lift but she wasn’t there.”

“She’s not here yet.” Liz said.

“I’m sure she’ll be here soon.” Michael said as he walked over to the table.

“Well let’s start with out her. We can fill her in when she gets here.” Max said.

“Well what’s up?” Michael asked.

“ I think we need to try and find out what happened after the granolith took off.”

“I want to sneak into the UfO center and access Brody’s Databases.”

“Why?” Maria asked.

“I want to see if anything was detected the day that Tess left. When we set off the orbs it was picked up by alien devices. Maybe when the granolith left thesy detected something.”

“We could try and contact Larek through Brody again.” Michael said.

“I don’t think that is such a good idea. Remember what happened the last time. He took everyone hostage. I don’t think that we should force it again.” Maria said.

She liked Brody and didn't want to see him hurt.
“Maria’s right, it would have to be a last resort.” Max said.

“ I don’t think it should be a resort at all. It could kill him.” Maria said.

“I know I don’t want to risk Brody either but if it is the only way to get information on my son I will do it.”

“There you go again risking other peoples lives for your own purposes.” Kyle said under his breath.

“What did you say Kyle?’ Max said.

“Nothing.” He mumbled.

Max turned and looked at the group.

Maria was in Michael’s arms. Kyle sat straddling a chair. Then his eyes fell on Liz. She hadn’t looked at him since he started talking about the search for his son. He knew that she might react this way but he had to do this.

“I know that it might seem selfish but I need to find out about my son. When Tess was here I had such a strong connection to him. I could feel what he was feeling. Since the granolith left I don’t feel him at all anymore.”

“Well they are most likely on another Planet.” Maria said with a shrug.

“Or it could mean that they never made it and are dead.” Max said softly.

Kyle stood up.

“There not dead.” Kyle said.

“How do you know that?” Max asked.

“I just know. I’ve been dreaming about them.” Kyle said honestly.

“Well that doesn’t mean anything. I should feel him. He is my son.”

“Listen El Presidente. I don’t care what the hell you think. I know what I know. You think that because you’re the King of some far off planet you can speak to me like that? Do you think you’re the only person her with a connection to Tess? You all do what you want to do. I am not going to sit here any longer.”

Kyle got up and stormed off toward the door.

“Kyle wait.” Liz yelled and followed him out the door.

Max watched as Liz showed more emotion in that one act then she had shown him the entire night and she felt sick. Regardless of how everyone else felt about Kyle it was obvious that there was still a lot of animosity between Kyle and Max.

“Well, that went well.” Michael said dryly.

“Listen Max we can’t keep doing this we have to stick together. Remember what happened the last time we let things come between us. Well this is what happened. Now tonight Isabel doesn’t show, Kyle runs out, followed by Liz. This is not good at all.”

“I don’t know what you want me to do about it Michael. I have to find my son.”

“You know what your problem is Maxwell. You can say and do what ever you want but when the rest of us say or want to do something we are wrong. You’re working as a dictator. Not listening to those around you.”

“Oh this coming from the guy who never thought about his actions. How many times have I had to save your ass Michael?! Well let’ see there was Athertons and Toplosky!!”

“Max…” Maria began to say.

“No Maria. He’s right I was impulsive. They did have to bail me out those times but the difference between you and I Max is that I learned from those times. You just keep repeating your mistakes! From this life and the last!!”

“Stop it!!! Both of you just stop it!!!”

They both turned around to find Isabel standing in the doorway. On either side of her stood Kyle and Liz.

“Well I see the 2 of you decided to rejoin us.” Max said sarcasticly.

Liz shot him a dirty look and Kyle clenched his fists.

The last place Kyle wanted to be right now was in this room with Max. He had every intention of leaving them all behind but then he had seen Isabel outside. He knew that she was there to tell them about the baby and he just couldn’t let her do it alone.

“Shut up Max. He came back because I asked him too. I have something to tell you.”

Max looked at his sister. She was pale and had dark circles under her eyes. He sat down in a chair and braced himself for what he thought was more bad news.

“What is it Iz?” Michael asked.

“There is no other way to say this. I’m Pregnant.” She said and then her legs gave out.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm glad you like that part.

Kittens- Tess explanation is a couple of parts off but I think you'll find it makes sense.

Roswellluver- You are so right. The group needs to pull together but we all know how Max can get when he thinks his way is the best way. He stops listening to the people around him.

KatnotKath-Here is the answer to your question about how Max and Michael react.

Krazykitti- I'm glad that you liked this part. Kyle is one of my favorite characters. He play an important part in this story. He is just really confused right now. His heart is telling him one thing and his mind another.

I was so happy to get all the feed back that I edited this part tonight for you guys. Let me know what you think.

Stronger Together
Part 8

All eyes were on Isabel.

Kyle helped her to a chair.

“Are you ok?” he asked.

“I’m fine.”

“Liz maybe you should get her some juice.” Kyle said.

Liz brought Isabel some juice.

Finally Michael couldn’t take it any longer.

“What do you mean you’re pregnant? How is that possible?”

Michael turned to Maria.

“I swear it’s not mine.” He said dead serious.

Isabel had to laugh. Of course Michael would think the baby was his.

“No, of course it’s not yours.” She said between fits of laughter.

“I don’t find anything funny about this situation.” Max said a little annoyed at his sister’s response.

“Don’t talk to her that way! She doesn’t need your high and mightiness right now.” Kyle retorted.

“You don’t seem to surprised by this Kyle.” Maria said.

“He already knew.” Isabel explained.

Max looked at Isabel and then at Kyle. There would be only one reason that Kyle would know before the rest of them.

Isabel’s pregnant with Kyle’s baby.

Max lunged for Kyle. Michael held him back.

“You Son of a bitch. I’m going to kill you. How dare you do this to my sister.”

Kyle clenched his fists at his side.

“Come on you want some of this!! I have been waiting a long time for this. Just you an me!! The human way!!” Kyle yelled.

“Kyle!! Max!! Stop it right now!! This is no time for this.” Liz yelled as she stepped in front of Kyle.

Isabel didn’t know if it was the pregnancy hormones or just the situation in general but she couldn’t stop laughing.

“I’m glad you find this so entertaining Isabel.” Michael said.

“Kyle… Kyle is… Not the father…” She finally spit out through her laughter.

Max broke free from Michael’s hold and sat down dejected.

“Well if Kyle isn’t the father then who is?” Maria asked.

Isabel’s laughter stopped.

She turned toward Liz and Maria.

“It’s Alex’s.”

Maria and Liz were stunned.

“Alex’s? That’s not possible…He would have told us if he had Sex.” Maria blurted out.

“I asked him to keep it a secret for a while and then…well he never got the chance.”

“When did this happen?” Liz asked.

“At Prom.”

“I knew he was awfully chipper that next morning.” Michael said with a half grin.

Isabel blushed.

“I want you all to know that I love Alex and I don’t regret a second of the time we spent together. I love this baby and I’m glad that I will always have a part of him with me.”

“How is this even possible? I thought we could only mate with each other?” Michael said.

“I guess not spaceboy. Disappointed?” Maria said with a smile.

“Never. There is only one woman I’d ever want to have kids with.” He said and kissed her.

“How can you all be reacting like this? Isabel we have no idea how this pregnancy is going to evolve. We have no way of knowing what is going to happen. I can’t believe this.”

Liz stood up. She was seething. She had had enough of Max.

“How dare you talk to her like that after what you have done. At least Isabel loved Alex. You of all people should not be preaching to Isabel. I for one am glad that she has a piece of Alex. That we all do.”

Liz turned her back on Max and turned toward Isabel.

“I’m happy for you. If there is anything that you need or that I can do for you or the baby then you just let me know.”

“Thank You, Liz.”

“I’m tired. I’m going up. Michael please just lock up when you go.”

Michael nodded.

“I’ll talk to you tomorrow Maria.” Liz said.

She didn’t even give Max a second glance as she walked towards the kitchen and up the stairs.

Max watched as she left and it felt like a knife was being stabbed through his heart. Liz was right he had no right to say anything to Isabel. Not after what he had done and now he had just given Liz another reason not to be with him.

“Isabel I’m sorry. Liz is right. If you’re happy, I’m happy. We will figure this out.”

“Thanks Max. I know it won’t be easy but I want this baby.”

“Well it’s getting late. Maria and I have to be going so you all have to leave.” Michael said as he winked at Maria.

"Isabel if you need us for anything you just let us know." Maria said.

Michael leaned over and hugged her.

"If your happy. I'm happy." He whispered in her ear.

“I guess we can talk about this tomorrow. I need to clear my head. I’m going to go for a drive. Cover for me with Mom and Dad.” Max said.

“Sure.” She said

“And Iz. I’m sorry I acted like a jerk. We’ll figure something out.”

He hugged his sister and turned and left the Crashdown.

“Well I better get going too. I didn’t drive and I want to get home before it gets to late. I really appreciate all your support.” Isabel said.

“Isabel there is absolutely no way I am letting you walk home by yourself. I’ll take you home.” Kyle insisted.

“Thanks Kyle.”

“We’ll see you guys tomorrow.”

A/N: Thanks for all the great feedback. This part is a little short. This is a little sad for dreamers but don't worry I'm a dreamer at heart. Let me know what you think.

Stronger Together.

Max had been driving around aimlessly for hours. After his confrontation with Kyle and Isabel’s Revelation he just needed to figure things out.

He didn’t know why he had become so defensive when Kyle had insisted that Tess and the baby were ok. It’s what he hoped was true. Had it been anyone else he would have been relieved but with Kyle it brought up a totally different emotion.

Why would Kyle know anything?

Sure he and Tess had been close but was the connection between them that strong?

Then there was his son. Why would Kyle know anything about him? When he spoke he made it clear that both the baby and Tess were fine. How could he know that when even Max didn’t? It just made no sense.

Then there was Isabel. She was pregnant and that was a whole different story with a whole different set of concerns. What would they tell their parents? How would this pregnancy affect his sister? Would the baby survive in this atmosphere? The questions just kept coming.
Then there was the whole issue of how he reacted to the news. He was so upset about not being able to feel his own child that when Isabel had told him about her baby he had acted like a first class jerk.

Really who was he to preach to her about anything? At least her child was conceived in love. Which was more than he could say about his own and of course it had taken Liz to make him see this.

Any headway that he had made with her was gone now. He knew that. She hadn’t even said 2 words to him when she left and he deserved it.

He had just proved to her everything that she had been saying to him.

As much as it hurt he knew that she was right. His son would always come between them.

So he found himself back at the place where he started that night. The Crashdown.

Slowly he walked around back and there she was.

He knew she wasn’t asleep. He could sense it some how. It was a lingering affect of their connection.

As always she looked beautiful. She was wearing black pajamas covered in red rose print. Her hair was down and the wind was blowing it across her face.

Max wanted to turn and leave. He didn’t want to have to face her. Didn’t want to tell her that he had to find his son even if it meant they couldn’t be together, but he knew he had no choice. He had made a mistake and now there was a baby. He had to think about that baby now.

“Max I know your there so come up.” Liz yelled.

She had sensed him the minute he had arrived. She had considered ignoring him but then why put off the inevitable. It had become painfully clear to her tonight that there was an ocean between Max Evan’s and Liz Parker.

Max climbed the ladder on to her balcony.

“I’m sorry I didn’t know you were still awake.” He lied.

“It’s ok. I couldn’t sleep either.”

“Liz, I’m sorry about what happened tonight. I have just been so worried about losing the connection to my son and it just made me act out.”

“I know your worried Max, but that doesn’t mean that you can treat people this way.”

“I know. After you left I apologized to Isabel.”

“Good. It is probably hard enough to deal with this and not having Alex. She doesn’t need you adding any extra pressure.”

“The last thing I expected was for her to tell me that she was pregnant. It caught me off guard and I was already all riled up about Kyle.”

Liz knew that Max’s reaction to Isabel’s news had very little to do with the news and more to do with how he was feeling about his son. She gave him a small smile to show that she knew he didn’t mean to hurt Isabel.

Max just stared at Liz. He knew she understood the reasons for his reaction. He could see it in her eyes and it put him at ease. Just a look from her could always make him feel at ease.

How was he ever going to make it thru this without her? He didn’t know but it wasn’t fair to her to keep hurting her every time there was a situation with his son. Sure they would still be friends but it would never be the same.

“Do you think Isabel will be ok? Do you think the baby will be able to survive?” She asked breaking the awkward silence between them.

“I don’t know. All we know about alien pregnancies is what we were told by Tess, and who knows how much we can trust what she said. As for the baby I think it has a better shot then my son ever did. Alex was 100% human and Izzy is half human so I think that he or she has a pretty good shot.” He sighed.

“Yeah your right. I guess will just have to monitor the pregnancy closely.”

Liz sat on her bed. There it was again, his son. They would never again be able to have a conversation about anything without it coming back to his son. Subconsciously she had known this but in this moment she fully realized it and it hurt. It hurt because she knew the man that Max Evans was. He would stop at nothing to find his son and when he did he would love the child unconditionally, even though he wasn’t born from love. It was part of what made her love him and it was the reason she had to let him go. Because try as she might she couldn’t get past what Max had done with Tess and his son would be a constant reminder.

“Liz.” “Max.” They both said each other’s name at the same time.

Each of them smiled a sad smile.

“You go first.” Max said.

“Max I always thought you would make a wonderful Father. I always thought that the children would be ours. It’s kind of silly. I mean were 18. What 18 year old thinks about that stuff.”

“I don’t think it’s silly. I always felt the same way.”

Unshed tears shown in both their eyes. Their hearts wanted to be together but their minds the ones that held their memories were keeping them apart.

“You know I have to find my son. I can’t leave him out there with Tess.”

“I know that. I never expected you would do that. I know you’ll always choose him and that’s why I love you.”

“Liz…” he started to interrupt her but she kept going.

“I thought maybe I could get past it but I can’t. No matter what your child, yours and Tess’s child will always come between us. And that’s…”

“…Why for his sake we can’t be together.” He finished for her.

The tears were flowing freely down their cheeks. They cried for what they had, what they lost and what might have been.

“I don’t know how I’m going to survive without you.” He said.

She walked to him placed her hands on his face.

“ I will always be here for you. We will always be apart of each other’s lives. I will always love you, but in the long run this is best for everyone.”

He pulled her into his embrace and lowered his to hers. They poured all their passion; all there desire all their love into that kiss. They knew it would be their last.

“I will always love you Liz Parker. Always know that.”

He turned and climbed through her window. Leaving the one good thing that had ever happened to him behind.

She watched him leave and when she could no longer see him she fell on her bed and cried herself to sleep.

I everyone. Thanks again for all the great feedback, This next part is a bit transitional. I decided to jump ahead about a year. I didn't want to write 9months or more of alien pregnancy and the search for spot. So we get right back into the action at the end of the pregnancy.

Gerry- Thanks for all the great feed back. Don't worry, I am a dreamer too. Max and Liz will end up together.

Stronger together.

Part 8

It’s May 14 and I’m Liz Parker High School Graduate. I cannot believe it. So much has happened since I first entered the halls of Roswell High. I was so naïve then. We all were. Back then my main concern was getting good grades so I could go to Harvard. My biggest problem was what I would wear to the spring dance. Then Max healed me and my whole world changed. Suddenly my minor teenage concerns were gone and I was faced with issues and decisions that would impact 2 worlds. It’s funny how one moment in time can change not only your life, but also the lives of those around you.

It was strange being at the ceremony today. We all did the normal routine. We received our diploma’s hugged our parents and smiled for their Cameras. My mom and Mrs. Deluca hugged each other and cried when Maria and my names were called. Mr. And Mrs. Evan’s cheered for Max and for Michael when their names were called. Sheriff Valenti’s grin showed just how proud he was of Kyle. The only thing missing was Alex. He would have loved it. When they got to the point in the ceremony where his name would have been called there wasn’t a dry eye among us. It shattered the normalcy of the occasion.

In reality though we know we are not normal. Normal high school graduates worry about what they will need for their dorm rooms and whether or not they will get along with their roommates. They don’t worry about whether their dead best friends child will be able to survive in this world or have to deal with their ex boyfriends search for the child he conceived with his former wife. No they are blissfully ignorant. They can make their decisions based on what’s best for them and for that I am truly envious.

I got accepted to Harvard but I’m not going. I’ll be living a few miles outside Las Cruces with Maria, Michael, Isabel Kyle and yes, even Max. The Evans have a second home there that they are letting us use. It will be hard being around Max all the time. Knowing we can’t be together, but it’s what I have to do. I owe it to Alex to be there for his son or daughter, to be there for Isabel.

So today I start a new chapter in this strange novel that is Liz Parkers life. I hope this one is happier then the last.

There was a knock at her door.

“Lizzie, your guests are starting to arrive.” Her father said through the door.

Her parents had closed down the restaurant for the day and had planned a special Graduation dinner for her and her closest friends and their families.

“Ok dad. I’ll be right there.”

She put her journal away and headed for the door. Today started her future and she just hoped she was ready for it.

*********************************************************
Liz’s parents had spared no expense for this graduation party. Every table in the crashdown was decorated with blue and yellow balloons. There were miniature cups shaped like graduation caps and the menu for the evening was made to look like a diploma. The Parkers had asked all the parents to give them pictures of their kids through out the years and had made a giant collage that was displayed on an easel when you first walked in. There were pictures of Maria, Kyle and Liz as babies. There were pictures of Liz Maria Alex and Kyle on there first day of Elementary school. There were pictures of Maria and Liz in Brownies. Alex and Liz on their first camping trip together. Isabel and Max at their birthday party with the Evans. Liz and Maria at their first day of work in their uniforms. Someone had even found their class picture from the fourth grade. The one and only time they had all been in the same class. It was a snapshot of their lives.

“I can’t believe that I ever cut my hair that short. What was I thinking?” Maria said to her mom as she looked over the collage.

“Aww Maria I thought it was cute. You looked like a little pixie fairy.” She said with a grin.

“Yeah well I’ll never do that again.” She laughed.

“Look at this one. It’s your fourth grade class picture. Is Michael sticking his tongue out at you?” Her mother said with a look of shock on her face.

“Oh my God he is.” Maria said and burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Michael walked out of the kitchen and over to his hysterical girlfriend.

“What’s so funny?” he asked.

“Look at this.” She spit out through bursts of laughter.

“What you must have done something to annoy me.” He said with a grin.

He reached over and pulled her into his arms.

“Even in elementary school you knew how to get to me.” He whispered in her ear.

“Where is everyone?” Amy asked.

“Liz is upstairs and Kyle and the Sheriff are on their way.” Maria said.

“What about Max, Isabel and the Evans?” She asked.

“After the ceremony Isabel wanted to go home and take a nap. I’m sure they will be here soon.”

“Yeah those last months of pregnancy can be a killer. The 2 of you should take note of how difficult it is.” Amy said with a smile.

The door opened and Kyle and the sheriff walked in.

“Hi Jim.” Amy said as she walked toward him.

“Amy you look lovely.” He said as he took her arm and led her to a booth.

“Hi Michael and Maria.” He shouted over his shoulder.

“Looks like she should take a good look at Isabel too.” Michael said as he watched the sheriff and Amy slide in next to each other.

“Michael!!” Maria yelled as she hit him over the head.

“Look at them. You and Kyle here could share a sibling one day.”

“Thanks Michael. I really needed that image in my head right now.” Kyle said dryly.

“Is Isabel here yet? She seemed kind of tired after the ceremony.” Kyle asked looking around.

“She went home to take a nap. I’m sure they will be here soon.” Maria told him.

Maria could see the distress on Kyle’s face.

“I’m sure she’s fine. You would need a nap too if you had been pregnant for almost a year.” She said as she placed a hand on his shoulder.

“I’ve just had a weird feeling all day. It’s probably nothing.” He said with a shrug.

Kyle and Isabel had become really close over the last year. After she had told everyone that she was pregnant it was him she turned to for support. They had kept the secret among themselves for about 5 months. By examining Isabel, Max had discovered that even though Isabel was 3 months pregnant when she found out those 3 months had basically served as an incubation period where the baby had formed a complicated circulatory system that connected with Isabel’s. It was in the 4 month that the baby started to develop. So they had decided not to tell any of the adults until she started to show.

They proceeded with there normal lives and that meant that Isabel went to college. Luckily the Evan’s had inherited a house right outside of Las cruces and were more then thrilled to have Isabel staying there rather then in some co-ed dorm.

Kyle had made it a point that every weekend he would drive out there to be with Isabel. Even if one of the others were going he still went. In the second semester of school he even worked it out so that he had work-study in the same town where she lived and stayed there 3 nights a week. He had become her support system

He had even been there when she had told her parents. Her parents had even assumed that he was the father. Until she had explained it was Alex’s. They hadn’t understood how that could be possible but when she insisted they relented. Through it all Kyle was there. He knew more about prenatal healthcare and childbirth then any of them. In essence he acted as if he was the baby’s father. He did it not only for Isabel but for himself as well. Somehow it filled an emptiness in his soul.

Kyle’s father began to wave his hands at Kyle to come and join him and Amy.

“I better get over there. He probably wants me to show off my diploma again. On the way here he stopped three people on the street and forced me to show them. Thank God that this only happens once.” Kyle said as he shook his head.

Michael and Maria both laughed as they watched Kyle walk over to the table and show Amy his diploma.”
