Part 9b ~ Two Of Us ~ By Carolyn Sawyers
Jacob deciding that Raymond had enough brooding time walked his way with two drinks in his hands, two very stiff Rum and cokes, Jacob’s favorite.
“Here.” Jacob offered, handing him the glass.
“What is this?” Michael asked, sniffing the drink suspiciously.
“Rum and Coke my friend drink up. You’ll feel a whole lot better.”
Shaking his head Michael replied adamantly, “I can’t take this I’m sorry.”
“Why it’s not likely you’ll be drinking and driving you live upstairs now?” Jacob asked confused.
“I don’t drink, ah I don’t handle booze very well.” Michael explained, then apologized, “Sorry.”
“Hey it’s cool. Just more for me.” Jacob said shrugging his shoulder. He took a seat next to Michael and after putting down the drinks on the empty seat beside him asked, “So come on tell me what happen with you and Yolanda this evening before the party?”
“I kissed her.” Michael answered sounding like it was the worst thing he could’ve done.
“So she wasn’t responsive? Did she slap you? Confess that she was an lesbian what?”
“A lesbian?” Michael asked horrified.
“Well you never know these days I mean I had this one Ex-girlfriend-“
“Jacob, please I’m not really up to one of your tangents right now.” Michael interrupted; hating that he may of hurt Jacob’s feelings, but right now he and his road killed heart didn’t care.
Jacob nodded his head, obviously he wasn’t shattered at all as if he knew and accepted that he can be a real blabber mouth and said, “No I understand it’s just…well I hardly think Maria from watching her this evening is handling your assumptions very well.”
“My assumptions!” Michael exclaimed shaking his head, thinking this guy had some nerve thinking he knows what the hell is going on, and trying to play the understanding buddy and trying to help when he has no idea what has been going on in Michael’s life before Jacob met him. “Listen no offense but I hardly think you know the situation of what’s going on to be offering advice.”
“Listen, I understand that maybe you and Yolanda had a very passionate time together at one point of your lives, and that things ended maybe not so pleasant, yet you two have manage to become friends again. However, it’s written on your face that you haven’t quite gotten over her yet.” Jacob began, giving Michael a sidelong glance. Michael was at this moment looking at Jacob in awe. This guy wasn’t very far off the mark. Jacob gave him a half smile and added, “Its also written on Lana’s face that maybe she too still has some very strong feelings for you.”
“You’re wrong there Jacob.” Michael disagreed, shaking his head, “She pulled away, I could see the regret on her face! She didn’t even say anything! When she did it was, ’What was that? What was that? She has not changed at all Jacob.”
“Maybe she has and you’re letting the past hide what she was really thinking.” Jacob offered.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Michael asked, not quite sure where Jacob is going with this.
Jacob sighed and firmly put a hand on Michael’s shoulder and said, “Maybe Lana’s regret was of someone who realized that she had feelings for a certain friend and that a certain kiss made all those feelings break out of a very sealed and forgotten part of her heart. That, that kiss made her regret all the time wasted on trying to run from those feelings.”
Jacob’s words began to sink into Michael’s brain. Was Jacob right? Was Michael jumping to conclusions? Did Maria still love him?
“Just look at her Raymond.” He heard Jacob say.
Michael raised his lowered head and scans the crowd. When he spotted Maria talking to a group of people, he couldn’t help but smile. God but she did look beautiful tonight. Maria always looked beautiful. She could be in sweats and a T-shirt and he would find her attractive. As if she could feel him watching her, Maria looked his way and locked her eyes with his. It was sad, apologetic; it was filled with love…love for him.
“Jacob how did you know-I mean you can be just too freaky for words.” Michael replied his eyes never left Maria’s. She was smiling; her eyes now filled with hope.
“I told you I have good instincts.” Jacob said laughing, then added, “Go to her Raymond. Don’t mess this…well I don’t know what number this chance is for you guys, just but don’t mess it up.”
Michael laughed and turned to look at Jacob. “I won’t and Thanks.”
“Yeah well I don’t like seeing people unhappy.” Was all Jacob said before he got up from the chair and walked away?
With a sigh Michael raised from his own chair and looked up to see that Maria was still watching him. He began to walk towards her and Maria’s smile grew bigger with each step closer he got.
The distractions in the room faded. All that he could see was her. He loved the way she was looking at him right now. Probably the way he was looking at her. With need, want, love, almost as if it was for the first time all over again.
“If memory serves me right, I’m suppose to dance with you the whole evening.” Michael said smiling, his hand held out for her to take.
“I believe you’re right.” Maria concurred taking his outstretch hand. Michael began to walk backwards she followed him, their eyes still locked with no sign of averting in any other direction.
Their bodies instantly melded perfectly with each other. His hands were wrapped around her waist, she decided to prop hers loosely around his neck. They slowly swayed to the music that was bearly heard in the background. Not that it mattered; they probably would’ve dance even if there weren’t any accompaniment.
They danced in silence for a while, looking at each other, smiling shyly, wondering what exactly what was next that they were suppose to do. They shouldn’t be strangers with one another. They knew each other intimately; they’ve already been past the awkward first getting to know each other stage.
Yet here they were all tingly with anticipation on this new phase of their ever-going romance. It was kind of exciting actually, to love Maria again he knew she was not the same person, and she knew he has changed too. Traveling together on the run in a beat up van told them both that.
“I’m sorry.” They both said simultaneously, laughing at their same train of thought.
“I should have listen to you.” Michael said softly, and added, “It was wrong to jump to conclusions.”
“Yeah well I didn’t help matters by acting all weirded out.” Maria offered, then quickly added, “I mean it was in a good way.”
“I know.” Michael said softly, raising a hand to the back of her neck and slowly caressed her there.
“So how silly are we?” Maria asked with a small laugh.
“Very.” Michael asked.
“You always believed in us Michael didn’t you?” Maria asked, and added, “ I mean you always knew that this day would come.”
“Honestly?” He asked looking at her, she nodded, and he slowly shook his head, “I never had a clue, I just kind of had a lot of hope that it would work out in the end.”
“Well it did because it was suppose too and Liz had a hand in it.” She replied softly, resting her face on his chest. He sighed contently and pulled her closer if that was possible, inhaling her floral scent hair. Thinking that thing’s couldn’t get any better than this.
“What has Liz got to do with this?” Michael asked, enjoying this moment.
“Well her vision of this town, the community center.” Maria replied, lifting her head to look at him, her face was relaxing contently, she was happy. Then added after placing a soft gentle kiss on his lips, “This little mission of ours forced us to realize what we really mean to each other.”
“Oh crap.” Michael thought to himself, realizing that he was so caught up in everything he had forgotten how they came to have this mission in the first place. He begged Liz to pretend to have a vision, lie to Max until they were far enough from Ashland where they wouldn’t turn back. Yeah Liz did this favor for him but she warn Michael that he had to tell Maria what he did. Otherwise she may never forgive him and all of this would be for nothing. He needs to tell her now. God he should have never even concocted this plan.
“Are you alright Michael?” Maria asked suddenly. The swaying stopped, and he realizes she was staring up at him with concern. God he was a mess whenever he looked into those big brown eyes of hers
“Ah well there’s something I need…”
He never got to finish his sentence. Jacob, who somehow found his way near them said suddenly, “That man has some nerve coming here.”
Michael and Maria turned to face Jacob, who was angrily eyeing someone near the REC. Room door. They in turn followed his stare and a guy in probably his late thirties, dressed up in which looks like to be a very expensive suit was shaking hands and mingling away with some of the board members.
“Jacob is that who I think it is?” Maria asked, her hand grabbing Michael’s.
Jacob shook his head and said in disgust, “Yeah the pain in my ass him self Eric Cole.”

Part 10 ~ Two of us ~ By Carolyn Sawyers
Jesse linked his hand nervously with Isabel’s as they sat on the love seat in the hotel room. Waiting for Max to start the meeting. He went down the hall to buy sodas for everyone. Jesse looked at Kyle and Liz who stood by the bed. Michael and Maria were a no show because they were in Kansas doing a side project as Isabel explained to him. He was anxious in why they were here; it was definitely serious if they risked coming to Boston, knowing that the FBI was watching him.
When Jesse asked Isabel why they were here, she refuse to say anything, telling him it would be best if they waited until the meeting. So Liz could better explain everything.
A few minutes later max came in his arm full of soda cans. Kyle went to him and took a few of the cans then brought over two choices to him and Isabel.
“Thanks.” Jesse said, placing the can on the floor, not really ready to let go of Isabel’s hand just yet.
“Thanks Kyle.” Isabel said, Kyle smiled and gazed at his wife longer than Jesse does was comfortable with before he walked over to the bed and sat down. Jesse raised a curious eyebrow. Did Isabel know that Kyle was in love with her? Maybe he should leave with them when they left Boston. He didn’t like that he wasn’t there while Kyle slowly put the moves on Isabel. On New Years Day, before the whole FBI knowing who they really are mess so they had to go on the run, he spotted Isabel resting comfortably on Kyle’s lap, he wasn’t angry or jealous trusting Kyle with his wife completely, they were just friends. Now he’s not quite sure what Kyle’s intentions are?
“You okay Hun?” Isabel asked, touching his face.
Jesse snapped out of his chaotic thoughts, quickly giving her a reassuring smile, nodding his head replying, “I’m find sweetheart, I’m just anxious on what’s going on.”
Isabel nodded, about to say something when Max began to speak. “Well I guess we should begin.”
Liz who stood beside him looked over at Jesse and said, “The murder case you’re working on. Your client didn’t do it.”
“I know he didn’t. Something about how his wife’s body was position didn’t click right with me…What’s going on Liz?”
“You’ll find the proof Jesse, but too late.” Liz said telling him her vision, “Your client will be found dead two days from now, and it’ll look like you did it. More “evidence” from your client’s wife murder will be found in your apartment. It will look like you had an affair with her and that you killed her out of a jealous rage, hence also why it looked like you killed you client cause he was your supposed lovers spouse. They’ll make it sound like that you thought you were untouchable and so you killed him.”
“That’s ridiculous!” Jesse exclaimed angrily, letting go of his wife’s hand and jumping up, “I never went anywhere near that evidence without a witness with me.”
“Who was it Jesse?” Max asked, realizing what that could mean.
“A fellow lawyer from the firm and a good friend we-“ Jesse stopped short when he realized something, “Chris Hall is a good friend of my clients. They practically grew up together. He came to me asking if I would take his friends case, that he was too personally involved to represent his friend, claiming he wanted the best defense possible.” Jesse looked at Isabel who looked at him with sympathy, then back at max and Liz. “Well if what you say is true then Chris could’ve done something to the evidence while I was distracted, it could be done. Damn it I-I can’t believe this.”
Isabel grabbed his hands with both of hers, after planting a kiss on his forehead; he turned to Max and asked, “What’s going to happen now Max?”
“We, not Jesse will find the evidence against Chris Hall.” Max replied, smiling reassuringly at his sister. “We need all your notes, photos, Chris’ address phone number everything.”
Jesse nodded his head, as he said, “No problem I already have all that I’ll make copies and give it to you tomorrow.”
“Give it to Liz, her and Salem will work on that.” Max instructed, then added, “We need to protect your client at all costs, the fact that he gets murdered leads to this whole chain reaction.”
“Well Jerry, that’s my client, he seemed afraid that whoever did this may be after him too so he’s living with me. I have a spare bedroom so it’ll all work out.” Jesse explained feeling a bit overwhelmed by what he was told.
“That’s going to be tough Max, what about the little problem of the FBI?” Kyle asked.
“We just have to be low key. Yet Liz and I have come up with a little plan.” Max said proudly, “Kyle, Isabel and I will handle the protection of you and Jerry.”
“What’s the plan?” Jesse asked his interest peaked.
Max clapped his hands together and said, “Well this is how were going to do it…”
Maria, Michael and Jacob watched as Eric Cole worked the crowed. With each hand he shakes, every thumbs’ up, all the hugs and fake kisses he performed made Jacob’s face grow redder and redder with anger.
Maria saw the normally peaceful Jacob slowly becoming the Hulk. His fists at his sides steam escaping his ears. He could very well snap and that would not be good if he goes and beats the crap out of Eric Cole in front of the board members.
“Raymond do something.” Maria whispered in his ear.
Michael nodded his head, hating that when he was about to tell Maria the truth something pertaining to their mission happens.
Michael walked over to Jacob took him aside, blocking his view of Eric Cole and his ass kissing.
“Raymond let me go.” Jacob demanded, trying to break free of Michael’s grasp.
“Dude are you crazy?” Michael asked, blocking his attempts and moved with Jacob’s head movements so he wouldn’t be looking at Eric.
“I’m going to kill him.” Jacob angrily replied through grit teeth. “I’m going to pound him senseless.”
“So tell me Jacob what will beating Eric Cole do for the center?” Michael asked getting his new friends attention. When Jacob didn’t answer Michael did.
“I tell you what it’ll do.” Michael answered, “It’ll get some bad publicity for you and great publicity for him.”
This time when Jacob went to look at Eric, Michael let him. His nemesis was acting smug and even though it made Jacob upset, Michael watched as he closed his eyes, in haled and exhaled a few times and looked back at Michael nodding his head, “You’re right Raymond I almost blew it for the center. He just rubs me the wrong way.”
“I understand buddy.” Michael said patting his back, then added “Now go over there and play the gracious host.”
Jacob nodded his head and started walking toward his competition, but he stopped turned around and said gratefully, “Thanks Raymond I almost blew it for everyone.”
Michael nodded his head and gave him a smile as if saying silently, “No problem that’s what friends are for.”
Watching as Jacob put on a game face and made his way towards Eric Cole, Michael nodded his head and grinned knowing that what he did was one positive step towards the Centers survival.
“Nice job spaceboy,” He heard Maria say as Michael felt Maria’s hands wrap around his waist, he glanced behind him and loved the huge smile on her face, she was proud of him, but how long will that last when he tells her the truth.
“Oh it is so good to finally get theses torture devices off.” Maria exclaimed, balancing herself against the closed front door. She tugged off a shoe with a sigh of contentment. Then the other followed. Maria shuffled across the short distance between the door and the couch and then plopped down, sighing again in sheer bliss. Michael was already there; his head leaned against the couches back, eyes closed.
“I don’t want to work tomorrow.” Maria whined, lying down against Michael’s chest.
Michael chuckled softly as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, his eyes remain closed, his head still leaned back, he replied, “You’re working at night, you can sleep in.”
“Hello, Jacob asked us to get our class rooms ready tomorrow for Tuesday remember he asked us to start a day early.” Maria reminded him, snuggling deeper in his chest, then gave a huge yawn.
“Oh yeah, I forgot.” Michael answered, as he stroked her hair.
“You wore me out. I can’t believe how much we danced.”
“Neither can I but I had fun, even if we played Chaperone all night.” He replied. Michael and Maria hovered not to close but just far enough to jump in if Jacob started getting…well overwhelmed by Eric’s attendance at his party. “What I can’t believe is that the two of them didn’t kill each other.”
“Yeah well that was just round one.” Maria said with a frustrated sigh and added, “This is going to be tougher than I thought.”
“Well at least the party was a huge success for Jacob. Though it was a bit hard to distinguish at times who was kissing the board members ass the most, Jacob or Eric.” Michael said laughing.
“That Eric Cole is a real sleaze, he was trying to goad Jacob all night. I myself wanted to punch him.” Maria said angrily.
“Now that would be something I’d have paid to see.” Michael joked; he raised his head and looked down at Maria, who started up at him with sleep-laden eyes.
“Maybe after this thing is all over, I’ll beat him good.” Maria said giggling softly.
Michael sighed and couldn’t believe how lucky he is. Maria finally came around, but only because he got Liz to help Lie for him. He’s such a moron. He’s got to tell her and now before another day passes.
“Hey Maria.”
“Hmm.” She answered.
“Listen, I love you so much-“
“I love you too.” She interrupted him.
He inhaled and exhaled until he got the strength to continue. “I felt really lost without you…and I Uh, I would have done anything to get you back. I mean everyone told me to just be patient, but you know how I am Well so the day we arrived here in town, when I got the food, I meet Jacob of course and he did give me his card after telling his sad story. I felt really bad, but well I didn’t think that it was…well our place to interfere, well without a vision from Liz first. However only until later did I realize what an opportunity staying here to help Jacob’s Community center would be for me. I figured if you and I could spend some time by ourselves that perhaps…well things would happen…So-I-Uh…I went to Liz for help she never got a vision from the card. I asked her to lie for me. I know it was horrible but I didn’t know what else to do. All I wanted was a chance for us to be together again. So Liz after warning me that it could blow up in my face and that I should come clean as soon as possible reluctantly helped me.” He shook his head and continued, “I mean it worked, were together and-“
Michael looked down and realizes he was pouring his heart out to a sleeping Maria. Michael sighed in frustration as he shook his head. He laughed softly knowing that if Maria were up she wouldn’t have let him say so much. She would be giving him a brand new asshole. He leaned his back and rubbed his face with his free hand. It was like something didn’t want him to tell her what was going on just yet.
Tomorrow, tomorrow he’ll tell her the truth.
Then after his silent vow, Michael let sleep over take him, enjoying Maria’s warm body in his arms.
Eric Cole slammed the door of his limousine angrily.
Jacob Kane and his damn community center has been a pain in his ass long enough.
The guy was like a goddamn cat. Just when you though he was down and out, a new life kicked in. He needed that damn property for his mall.
It seems silly to be crazy over a piece of property. However cutting his loses and finding somewhere else to build wasn’t an option. Well all this is more than just opening a strip mall. There’s a much bigger picture than what the town’s people of Ashland realize.
Its about his survival, getting power and control.
Just then the door on the other side open, Eric jumped in surprise but relaxed when he saw whom it was.
“Jesus you scared the crap out of me.” Eric sighed in relief. He reached inside his coat pocket and pulled out a silver cigarette case, pulled out one and after tapping it a few times on the closed case he lit it up and after taking a drag said as he exhaled, “What are you doing here anyway?”
“Mr. McNeil doesn’t like how things are progressing Cole. The building should be a pile of rubble by now.” Said the voice the owner remain hidden in the shadows.
“Yeah well so did I, but rest assure it will happen.” Eric said with assurance, it was unclear if he was trying to convince him self or the guy who made Eric Cole a little nervous.
“It better Cole cause Mr. McNeil and his associates have invested a lot of money in that company of yours.” Warned the voice, and added, “Your father left you a sinking ship and they saved it for now, but if this little project of yours doesn’t start progressing soon, well he’ll be cutting loses in more ways than one.”
Eric nodded, trying to put on a brave front but his “silent partners” were a scary bunch and he didn’t want to be screwing with their patience too long. His dumb ass father squandered the monies he made from his years of hard work on booze, horses, woman and bad investments. When he died of a heart attack Eric didn’t realize how broke he was, they were so in the red that he could bearly cover his father’s funeral expenses.
He knew that if he tried to get a loan from normal channels it would take too long and he wouldn’t get half of what he needed to get Cole enterprises up and running again.
So he contacted one of his dad’s bookies and asked for a meeting with Donnie McNeil. One of the most powerful and few remaining crime bosses in the joining city of Metropolis.
The man was powerful, cunning, very rich and knew what it took to get what he wanted. You also didn’t take advantage of his generosity and did what you promise him you do.
Well everything was going to plan until Jacob’s nostalgic possessiveness of that community center got in the way with those plans. There was no way he was going to get screwed out of a great life that he should’ve gotten in the first place. That community center is as good as gone.
“You tell McNeil that it will be done. Just as we had agree.” Eric told the thug.
“I’ll pass on your message,” The man said opening the door, but paused to add a further warning, “Mr. McNeil will give you a month, a day past a month and this partnership is severed.”
“Understood, one month.” Eric said shaking his head, thanking that whoever was looking out for him. The cranky Mick actually extended the deadline a week. He must really want this project to work badly. Well he’s just going to have to take advantage of this small miracle and not screw things up. He’d be damned if he’ll end up like his old man, Poor, friendless and dead.

Part eleven ~ Two of us ~ By Carolyn Sawyers
Michael missed waking up mornings with Maria snuggling in his arms. Granted riding in a van that was tight in quarters did have some advantages and…Well disadvantages.
Before, when Michael and Maria were just friends, it was a good day for Michael when he awoke with Maria using one of his arms for a pillow, or that she was lying next to him and her hand rested on his stomach. It was heaven and he hated it when the moment ended with Maria waking up and taking her warm body to some other part of the van.
Then there were those Planes, Trains, and automobile moments when he felt a warm body and looked to only find Kyle snuggling up next to him mumbling some supermodel’s name.
“Jesus Kyle!” Michael exclaimed angrily, pushing him away.
“Huh? What?” Kyle exclaimed disoriented, jerking up from the van’s floor.
“You’re invading my space again.” Michael bites out, whapping the back of Kyle’s head and added, “Does it look like I’ve got tits to you?”
Kyle would get beat red, and the whole van would fill with laughter. It was the kind of arsenal the rest of the gang needed, and they teased the two of them unmercifully.
Now, well he couldn’t be happier. Lying on top of him, still in her silky feeling dress was the love of his life, Maria Deluca. He didn’t mean to fall asleep, his plan was to carry Maria to the bedroom, but lying with her on the couch was just as nice.
Michael inhaled deeply, catching the sent of her in his nostrils. He kissed the top of her head, and sighed in contentment. Yeah, he can die now a happy man.
Maria stirred against him, he groaned as her stomach pressed against his morning arousal. He reluctantly took one of his hands off her bottom and raised it too his line of sight. His watch declared that it was Five O’clock in the morning. They still had hours before they had to wake up to start their day.
Michael felt her body scoots slightly up his, he turned his head and was face to face with Maria’s, with their lips a breath away from touching. She was mighty sexy, looking all languish and disheveled from a nights sleep.
“Morning space boy.” Her voiced purred, her hands running up the sides of his body, stopping when she reached his face cupping the sides with her warm touch.
“Morning.” He said with a half smile.
Maria brushed her lips on his a few times, but then when she sucked on his bottom lips, he groaned and reached a hand to the back of her head, deepening their kiss. Michael’s tongue tasted the inside of her warm mouth, their tongues twirling around each other’s. Their bodies reacting to heighten arousal that crackled in the air.
With their lips still touching Maria gripped the front of his shirt and pulled him up. Her hands shook as they worked the buttons free, groaning as his shirt got discarded, followed by his T-shirt. She broke their kiss as Maria went for his belt buckle next and between the two of them his dress pants and boxers were tossed aside. Michael sat there, as Maria’s gaze and hands looked and caress him up and down, burning into memory every inch of his naked flesh. His skin was tight, his breath quick, he pulled her back into his lap. With her small delicate hands braced on his shoulders, his mouth finding their way to her neck, planting feathery kiss up and down the length. Maria turn her head so he had more access to her neck, her hands sliding behind his neck and up to his head, feeling the short hairs, missing the length. Sliding his hands to where her dress ended and guided the flimsy material up the length of her body, breaking contact from her neck just enough to pull the material over her head.
He turned, taking a squealing Maria with him, so he was sitting up, the couch supporting his back. A scantily clad Maria straddling him, making it hard to think as she grind against his arousal, nibbling his neck.
“This is much more comfortable.” He whispered huskily in her ear.
“I bet.” Maria replied, lifting her head to look in his light brown eyes, with a grin on her face, she lowered her head to touch his lips with hers.
“Mmmm.” He groans against her mouth, elated from the friction her laced covered breast sliding over his bear chest was doing to him. Deciding she still had too much clothing on, his deft hands unhooked her bra, it was discarded without a thought on the floor. Massaging her breast, Maria moaned in pleasure, breaking their kiss as she flung her head back, taking one of her nipples in his mouth, biting, licking, and sucking deeply the entire nipple including its aureole.
With his free hand he slid it down in-between them, sliding inside the waistband of her black lacey underwear, the only barrier that prevented their joining. They both sighed in contentment as Michael’s thumb caressed the throbbing nub of her clitoris. Maria whimpered her frustration, wiggling against his hand, his tongue darting in and out, mimicking what his erection would be doing if he were inside her now.
Michael reluctantly pulled his hand away from her wet heat, they both groaned their disappointment, but it would soon be temporally, as Michael lifted her off his lap and planted her on his feet before him. He looked at her then in nothing but a pair of flimsy underwear. Her green eyes sparkled with desire, her hair messed from his fingers running through her long locks, her nipples perked at attention on her breasts, she was Venus and she was his. Michael placed his hands on either side of Maria’s hips. He leaned in and started to plant kisses all over her stomach. He felt her warm hands on either the side of his face, pressing him closer to her skin, her eyes closed, and her head lolled back reeling in the sensations Michael’s kisses on her hot skin were doing to her.
“Michael.” He heard her plea, she was shaking in his grasp, and Michael was please that he was still able to effect her and this in turn effected him. Hooking his left and right index finger in the band of her panties, Michael slid them down her hips, past her legs, until the last reason of being unable to become join as one was tossed aside.
Michael pulled his lips from her stomach, his hands caressing her back, he looked up at her and she looked down at him. “I love you.” Maria told him, shuddering as his hands moved from her back to up her shoulders, down along her arms until he took both her hands with his, and gently brought her forward.
“I love you too.” He repeated back, bringing one of her hands to his lips, then looked up at her and said, “Come here.”
With a smile she straddled him, lifting her self up slightly so he could slide into her. The feel of her tight wet core gripping his erection made them both gasp. They just sat there for a moment adjusting to the joining each other’s sexes, then she began to rock against him, her nails gripping into his shoulders, Michael buckled beneath her, his hands kneading, and squeezing her ass.
Maria took Michael’s bottom lip gently between her teeth and pulled, he brought his hands up to her back pressing her closer to him, feeling her breasts rub up and down his chest.
Michael sought out Maria’s mouth, longing to taste her. Their mouths met partly open, his tongue thrust inside, his control on borrowed time as he took in the sensations of their joined bodies, the thrusting, the friction, the mating of tongues, lips so soft, her nails digging into his flesh, her moans of desire filled his head. He was on the edge of releasing and she was not quite there yet.
His hand slid up her back, bracing her neck, getting lost in her hair. While his other slid in-between them; sliding down to where they joined, her patch of curls slick with sweat and her essence, he slid a thumb in her folds finding the nub, it throbbed against the pad of his thumb as he drew teasing circles around it.
“Michael,” Maria gasped, lolling her head back, her hips thrusting faster, her breathing quicken, her nails sunk deeper into his shoulders.
Michael slammed his head on the back of the couch, willing him self to not let go. Then her walls clamped around him, his name on her lips as her orgasm exploded, she was riding out the tail end of hers when Michael a few thrusts later, spilled his seed in her warm cavern, her name now on his lips.
He pulled her warm sweaty body closer to his, her breath on the crook of his neck, his chin on her head.
Who knows how long they sat there, still joined, breathing still erratic, but slowly going back to normal. They could feel each other’s beating hearts, feel the activity of the energy around them, time may have moved for others, but for them; at this moment time was non-existing.
Maria broke the silence first, her face still buried in his neck, “I think that was the most intense we’ve ever gotten.”
Michael pulled them apart just enough so they could look into each other’s eyes. With a serious look on his face he answered, “Yeah it wasn’t too bad.”
That comment was rewarded with a whack to the back of his head. “Ow.” He exclaimed laughing.
“Wasn’t too bad!” She screamed knowing he was joking, but began to assault his arms with her hands anyway.
Michael laughed as he blocked her smacks, but then he took her hands into the warmth on his own and said, “I don’t think for as long as I can live describe in words how amazing making love to you is.”
Maria got all teary eyed as she placed a kiss on his lips. She looked down at him and said, “I think you just did sweat heart.”
“Yeah?” He asked, his lips forming a huge grin. She nodded her head and repeated, “Yeah.”
“Right then.” Michael exclaimed, cupping her butt, standing up, and taking her with him. They were still joined and Michael was started to get hard again.
“Michael.” Maria squealed, her arms wrapping around his neck, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Taking you to the bedroom.” Michael growled in her ear and added, “I’m far from being done with you baby.”
Maria threw back her head and laughed as Michael headed toward their bedroom. It would appear that their day is going to begin later than they thought, but they’ll get over it.

Part 12 ~ Two of Us ~ By Carolyn Sawyers
Kyle sighed as he rummaged through the take out bag, pulling out and unwrapping his hamburger the way he liked it, no onions, pickles or mustard, just a well done beef patty, extra cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and lots and lots of Mayo. Of course his was on the bottom. He took a bite and after an euphoric sigh chewed thoughtfully.
Three days have come and gone and so far everything was pretty normal, but what was that saying about it being the calm before the storm. He could feel it, he knew Isabel could feel it so of course Max must feel it too. Something was going to happen and it was going to happen real soon.
“Can I have some fires?” Isabel asked, her eyes plastered on a pair of binoculars that were directed to Jesse’s house across the street. Except some Jehovah witnesses and Jesse’s secretary form his law office to bring him some updated files. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
Kyle strategically places the cardboard container on her lap and she reached in and put a few of the delightful cholesterol filled potatoes in her mouth and sighed contently.
“So where are our friends this evening?” Kyle asked referring to the FBI agents assigned to keep an eye on Jesse, hoping that his alien wife along with the others that were on the lamb would show up.
“Two blocks down,” Isabel answered gesturing a thumb to her right, “They traded the phone company truck for the black van at shift change.”
Needing to find a home base to stake out Jesse’s house without drawing attention. Isabel and Kyle in their disguise of course stumbled upon the house across Jesse’s. It was for sale and they day the found it there was an open house.
Two months ago the wife of the owner got murdered in the living room. The husband put it up for sale finding it difficult staying there under the circumstances. There have been no offers so far which was just find. It was perfect for them to use to stake out Jesse’s and easier to accomplish their mission. To keep an eye on Jesse and his client and prevent the client’s murder, so Jesse wouldn’t get framed for it.
“Oh how not so original.” Kyle sniffed, taking another huge bite of his burger, he chewed and swallowed and asked, “Wonder what’s keeping max this evening? His shift ended a few hours ago.”
“Probably with Liz getting some,” Isabel said sarcastically, “I swear those two are like rabbit’s in heat.”
Kyle snorted, and coughed as the soda he was drinking went down the wrong pipe.
“Well it’s true, my God they act like they never had sex before.” Isabel added, slanting Kyle a quick look before going back to her binoculars.
“Yeah well they’ve been waiting for how long?” Kyle pointed out to her.
“Hmm,” Was all she said?
“Well Max better get here soon or I’m going to snag his burger.” Kyle promised eyeing the take out bag hungrily.
“Don’t you even think about it.” Said Max.’s voice out from behind them, causing Isabel and Kyle to jump.
“Jesus Max, warn a guy next time,” Kyle gasped, picking up the fries that flew out of it’s container as he jumped in fright from Max.’s entrance.
“Yeah Max, now’s not the time to get all stealthy,” Isabel condemned icily, glaring at him.
“Sorry, couldn’t resist.” Max said, his lips curved into a mischievous smile, taking a seat next to Kyle, who handed Max his take out burger. “So what’s the activity been like.”
“If it wasn’t for the visit by the Jehovah witnesses it would’ve been a slow night.” Isabel answered, looking back at the house, raising the binoculars back up to her face.
“Kayla came by too.” Kyle informed him, mentioning the secretary.
“Excellent, then he got the rest of the files Liz needs.” Max said, unwrapping his burger, then asked, “What about our friends?”
“No activity really except for about around Six O’clock when they switched vehicles,” Isabel informed him, yawning.
“Listen why don’t you go back to the hotel, Max and I can handle things here.” Kyle told her, looking at Max and giving him a help-me-out-here-look. Isabel hasn’t been sleeping, she rarely eats, all she wants to do is stake out Jesse’s house and he knows that it’s taking a toll on her. Kyle is really starting to worry and the sooner they help out Jesse and get out of Boston the better Kyle will feel.
“I’m not tired I’ll just stay here.” Isabel told him; her eyes remain glued to the binoculars.
Isabel missed the frustrated sighs from Max and Kyle and after a pregnant pause Max stood up walked over to Isabel and grabbed the binoculars from her.
“Hey!”
“Iz, you’re exhausted and it’s not going to do Jesse any good if you burn yourself out at both ends, it will only make things worse in the long.” Max said sternly, telling her with a look that he wasn’t going to back down then demanded, “Go back to the hotel.”
“I know my limits little brother.” She exclaimed icily.
“Obviously you don’t or you go back to the hotel and get some sleep.” Max countered
“Kyle,” Isabel pleaded, thinking she had an alley.
Kyle totally wanted to renege on his suggestion, especially when she’s giving him that stare that’s melting his insides like butter. However, he had to remain strong, this was for Isabel’s own good. Shaking his head he agreed softly, “I think you should go back to the hotel.”
“I hate you both!” She spat, standing abruptly.
“Listen Isabel no ones saying you can’t do anything we just think you should rest.” Kyle offered, standing up and grabbing her arm before she took flight, “Just think about Jesse. If you’re tired and can’t think clearly you could make a mistake that could put Jesse in jeopardy. You know he’s in good hands.”
Isabel didn’t say anything she just stood there glaring at them.
“We care about you Iz, you know that.” Kyle said softly, his hand loosens its grip around her arm and he found himself gently rubbing her arm up and down. God, he loved how soft her skin feels.
“Whatever,” Isabel said distantly, yanking her arm from Kyle’s grip. “I’ll go but, this is the last time I let you tell me what to do.” She pointed a finger at Kyle and added, “He’s my husband and until someone you love is in danger, then butt out, you have no idea what I’m going through!”
Isabel stormed out of the house leaving Kyle standing their feeling guilty, his eyes were closed, his hands stuffed in his coat pocket, “If you only knew, “Kyle whispered softly.
“You alright there Kyle?” Max asked from behind him, his hand on his shoulder causing Kyle to break out of his reverie.
“Yeah,” Kyle answered nodding, taking the binoculars from Max, “I’ll take the first watch while you finish your dinner.”
“Yeah sure,” Max said nodding his head, looking at Kyle thoughtfully, wondering what was up with him. Kyle has been acting particular since they arrived in Boston. Shrugging his shoulders Max took the spot next to Kyle, he’ll talk to him later, right know they needed to focus on their mission.
They sat there in companionable silence, with Kyle watching the house as Max ate. Then Max notice Kyle bring the binoculars down from his face, he was thinking about something and it made max curious. “What is it Kyle?”
“The FBI agents.” Kyle said absently.
“What about them?” Max asked anxiously. Peering over Kyle’s shoulder outside.
“Well if their tailing Jesse’s every move then wouldn’t they know that Jesse was framed?” Kyle asked, slanting a look at Max.
Max was stunned and impressed, “I never would have thought about that.”
“So the question is why would they send an innocent man to prison?” Kyle pondered.
“Well they are a covet branch of the FBI.” Max pointed out, then continued, “So maybe revealing themselves would be a breach of security.”
“Plus people would wonder why the FBI are keeping tabs on Jesse?” Kyle countered, then tilted his head thoughtfully and added, “Or they think he is guilty.”
“Definitely something to think about.” Max said nodding approvingly, “Good job Kyle, this is actually quite helpful.”
“You wonder why Liz didn’t see this in her vision?” Kyle mentions, his attention drawn back to watching the house.
“Liz is still new at dealing with her powers.” Max explained, “Sometimes the visions make no sense, sometimes the visions comes in pieces, so with each one the puzzle becomes a lot clearer.”
“Hmm,” Kyle said thoughtfully. Then asked, “So how is Jesse’s case coming along anyway?”
“Nothing new, but he did give me a disc of the paper work. Liz and Salem are going over it as we speak.” Max answered.
“What about the position of the body?” Kyle asked, “Didn’t Jesse say something was not right about it.”
Max nodded his head as he took a sip of his soda, swallowed and answered, “Yeah, well the body of Janice Benson was murdered elsewhere, it was found face down on the bed, her hands and feet bound with duct tape, drenched and covered in mud and her blood. The cops still think that her husband killed her that he was trying to ‘cover up’ his actions by making it look like it was done by a serial killer that’s been harassing the
Greater Boston area. They were fooled for a while until they caught the freak two weeks later and he admitted to killing those other women except for Janice Benson. When they found Todd Benson’s gun in the Charles River along with her bloodied clothes, gloves and his clothes with his wife’s blood on it, they were convinced he did it.”
“Jesse thinks otherwise.” Kyle mentions getting a nod from Max.
“Yes, someone planted Todd’s College ring near her body.” Max explained and added, “The cops thought nothing of it, since in the beginning they were looking for that serial killer, but kept it in the evidence room anyway cause it was on the scene.”
“So when they found all that stuff in the river that pointed to Todd they took the ring a lot more seriously.” Kyle replied.
“It had traces of her blood on it.” Max said thoughtfully, then continued, “Jesse told me that Chris has a similar ring, remember Todd and Chris went to school together. So after we told him about him being framed for Janice’s murder and Todd’s in the future, Jesse put two and two together and realized it was Chris who was the guilty one.”
“So all we’ve got to do is prove that Chris was the one who did it.” Kyle said with a frustrated sigh, “Which sounds easier than it is, cause obviously Chris is one step ahead of everything.”
“Not everything,” Max pointed out. “We know he did it. So he’s going to get comfortable soon. All we need to do is make sure that Jesse doesn’t make Chris suspicious.”
“Well that’s simple enough.” Kyle said grinning. Again they sat in comfortable silence, then something came to Kyle and he asked, “Didn’t Jesse go to Harvard?”
“Yeah he did.” Max answered, then asked, “Why?”
“You should probably see if he too has a ring.” Kyle suggested. “And if he’s ever wore it around Chris. He may not be planning on framing Jesse right now, but if he thinks he’s found out he may start getting desperate.”
Max smiled as he shook his head, “You’re on a roll today Kyle.”
“You should probably confiscate it so there’s no complications later on.” Kyle added.
“Good idea.” Max agreed nodding his head, “I’ll make sure I get it next time I deliver his pizza.”
Kyle grinned and went back to watching Jesse’s house. He felt really good for actually contributing to the gang. He may be in the loop of things, but he felt like he was in the way more than anything else. Won’t Isabel be impress, she’ll give him one of those heart stopping smiles, or maybe even give him a nice huge hug. Ah yeah he’ll like that.
Kyle sighed inwardly and realized how pathetic he sounded. “Snap out of it Valenti. You are just a friend to her, nothing more and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can get over this stupid crush you have on her.”
Kyle knew it was easier to say it then actually do it. Kyle tried to block her out of his thoughts, tried not to dream about her, tried not to imagine what it would be like to kiss her, make love to her, imagine that she would love him back.
Suddenly his mood turned dark again and with that, feelings of uncertainty and betrayal pounded in his head.
The binoculars fell to the floor with a clunk, a white blinding light insulted his vision, and he never felt such pain as he did at this moment. Then he felt like he was falling backwards at a sickening speed. Then just as quickly he felt as if things around him were slowing down, the blinding light was fading and swirling around him and then vacuumed into the ground beneath him, and revealing a distorted view of the Roswell’s UFO center auditorium.
“Hey, Kyle. Kyle.” It was Agent Pierces’ voice. He was part of a covert section of the FBI that hunted down and studied aliens. He was the one who captured and kidnapped Max. “It’s Max Evans and the others. They have your father.”
Kyle found himself asking “Where?” He was reliving the day he got shot. He knew now that Agent Pierce was bad, but then he thought he was protecting him and his father.
“I can’t tell you, now, just untie me. They’ll be back in seconds.” Kyle couldn’t help but nod and kneeled behind the chair where agent Pierce was tied. Just like then, his hands were shaking and he was having difficulty loosening the knots. “Hurry up.” Pierce exclaimed in whispered impatience, he looked over his shoulder at Kyle, then scolded, “Kyle give me that. Give me the gun.” Kyle looked down and saw that his father’s gun that he took from his dad’s weapon cabinet was tucked in his waistband. Kyle reluctantly pulled the gun out and handed it to the FBI agent. God he was force to relive this entire scenario against his will. Pierce stood up and checked the bullet chamber, shook his head and asked, “What are you doing with it. Get out of here.” Kyle didn’t move until Pierce demanded, “Go hide.” From behind the movie projector screen Kyle watches as Pierce sits back down on the chair, pretends that he’s still tied, the gun behind his back. Kyle is helpless cause he couldn’t move or scream out a warning as Max; Michael and His father walk in.
The events after that flew by in one big blur. Pierce jumps up and starts shooting, his dad started shooting back, Kyle cringed as bullets flew by his head and then one of them found it’s way into his chest, causing him to jerk back and fall to the floor. He didn’t remember if he felt any pain then, but he remembered being really cold, recalled hearing Michael scream, “NO!” Saw a blinding light in front of him. Kyle laid there wondering if he was dead and on his way to the afterlife. Especially when he heard his father say, “He's dead.” His father’s voice sounded far away, “It’s one of mine.” Kyle realized than that he found the gun Kyle took. “No. Oh no.” Kyle knew for some reason that his father was holding him but he couldn’t feel anything, he just remembered hearing his dad’s voice as he lay there bleeding to death, “No. Aw, no, Kyle!” “I’m going to be okay Dad.” Kyle thought to myself. “Aw, geez, no! NO KYLE! Augh! Help. Help me. Somebody, help me!” Max, along with everyone else from the gang is there, standing in silent shock. “Augh. Save my son, Please.” He was pleading to Max.
Kyle felt Max.’s hand on his chest, which made his body jerk upward. It was so warm on his cold skin. Kyle never felt such contradiction in all his life. He was scared, yet brave. Safe but harmed. Chilled to the bone, then hot with fever. Filled with euphoric happiness then he’ll deflate into a forlorn sadness.
AS if someone was force-feeding life back into his body he jerked his eyes awake saw Max hovering over him, felt his fathers arms around him and he had no idea what the hell just happen? Wasn’t he supposed to be dead, “What the hell just happened to me?” He asked, feeling discombobulated.
“I don't care who you are, or what you are. I'll be here for you. I need a moment alone with my son.” He told Max and then continued to hold a confused Kyle.
The scene changed and the warp speed light encompass around him, taking him to the next level of his vision. Next thing Kyle knew he was looking down at his feet and saw that surrounding him on the desert floor were the symbols from Max.’s planet. Looking up he recognized the huge pointing rock that contain the hidden pod chamber, the V constellation formation was in the star filled night sky. He was confused what this all meant.
“Took your time getting here.”
Kyle swung his head around in shock. It was Alex. He gawked at his friend and was at a lost for words.
A smiled curled on his lips as he replied, “Kyle Valenti with nothing to say that’s a first.”
Kyle raised his hand, open his mouth to say something but clamped it shut, cause he had no idea where to begin. He felt guilty that he was involved in the disposable of Alex’s body after Tess killed him because of one too many mind warps. She was forcing Alex to decode some book that was from Max.’s home world. He succeeded, but he paid for it with his life.
“Listen Kyle, I know you feel guilty but you were Tess’ pawn as much as me,” Alex told him gently, he was know face to face with Kyle, he grabbed his shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly. “I know it messed you up but I’m going to tell you that I don’t blame you for an instant and I hope you realize that soon. You’re spending too much energy agonizing over something that wasn’t your fault.”
Kyle shook his head feeling a little better, but he knew the vision of him carrying Alex’s body like a piece of luggage will haunt him for the rest of his life.
“There’s a reason I’m here buddy and I don’t have a lot of time.” Alex told him, bringing him out of his reverie. “Things are about to get complicated for you.”
“My powers are manifesting aren’t they?” Kyle asked him.
Alex shook his head, “Yes.”
“Why do I get the feeling there’s more to you being here than telling me that I’m going to be a superhero because I was healed by an alien.” Kyle asked wistfully.
“Because you’re right,” Alex said, nodding his head, “Without going into too much detail, I need for you to make sure you have Isabel’s back.”
“O-Kay.” Kyle said slowly, “But you are aware that she can take care of herself.”
“Yes, I know but things are going to happen that will make absolutely no sense and she’ll be too bias to see.”
Too bias too see what?” Kyle asked confused.
“Kyle, I really can’t say, but you’ll know eventually, you’ll be the first to find out the truth.” Alex told him mysteriously, with a sigh he said, “I know you love Isabel like I loved Isabel and it’s good to know that she’s loved, that she’ll be taken care of.”
Kyle didn’t like the sound of that and pleaded, “Alex don’t tell me Jesse is going to die at the end of all this?”
Alex took a step back. His face was tight, his mouth a thin line, his eyes glazed with worry. “Just know that everything happens for a reason Kyle.”
Before Kyle could ask what that means his eyes jerked open, his body raised quickly and he realized he wasn’t dreaming anymore. He was in his bed back at the hotel and he realized he wasn’t alone. Liz and Isabel who were moments ago sitting at his side waiting diligently for him to wake up was standing up, by his side.
“Kyle thank God!” Isabel exclaimed in relief, she plopped down on the bed next to him and took Kyle in her arms squeezing tightly, “I thought you’d never wake up.”
Kyle looked at Liz who was also relieved, but by looking at her Kyle knew that Liz knew that his powers were manifesting. “How long was I out?”
“A day.” Liz answered him.
“Huh,” Kyle mused thoughtfully, “It didn’t seem that long.”
Isabel pulled back and slapped him hard yet playfully on his arm.
“Ow, why did you do that?” Kyle asked, rubbing the part of the arm she smacked.
Pointing a finger at him she declared, “You scared me too death!”
“Yeah well I was pretty freak out too.” Kyle said, then after a sigh he said, “The day has finally come Iz.”
She shook her head knowingly, “Yeah, your powers are manifesting.”
“What was happening while I was out?” Kyle asked.
“The same green lights that occurred when I was going through the process were a constant presence while you were out. As soon as you woke up they disappeared.” Liz answered, then added, “I have a feeling your manifestation is going to be different from mine.”
“I’m sure.” Kyle said nodding his head.
“Well don’t you worry Kyle,” Isabel assured him, “Were all going to be here for you.” Then proceeded to hug him again.
“I know,” He whispered in her ear, taking the opportunity to smell her hair.
“Kyle, I really can’t say, but you’ll know eventually, you’ll be the first to find out the truth.” Alex’s word echoed in his head. He knew something bad was going to happen and that it was going to effect Isabel in some way. “I know you love Isabel like I loved Isabel and it’s good to know that she’s loved, that she’ll be taken care of.”
Kyle still didn’t like the sound of that and heard his plea to his friend, “Alex don’t tell me Jesse is going to die at the end of all this?”
Kyle could still recall Alex’s face, tight with stress, his eyes glazed with worry, his mouth a thin line, probably to prevent him from saying anything else. Which makes him wonder why Alex couldn’t? “Just know that everything happens for a reason Kyle.”
To Kyle it sounded more like a warning than a statement of reassurance and the feeling he had before he passed out about something big and bad happening intensified.
Sometimes he wished he just listen to Max that day when he healed him and stayed put at his father’s house. Then he would still be blissfully ignorant about whom Max, Isabel and Michael were. He wouldn’t be on the run; he wouldn’t be turning into a mutant freak and he wouldn’t be in love with a married woman.
