~~~~~~~~******** The In-Betweens********~~~~~~~~
I was only ten years old, how could I have known that, then and there my destiny would be decided...
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 1 A ********~~~~~~~~
She walked and walked until she had walked so far that she did not recognize her surroundings, she had never been this far out. Her feelings of confinement and imprisonment were now beginning to disappear and instead were replaced with regret and fear. Where was she, she asked herself as she looked around at her new environment.
She walked a little more hoping that she would soon enough find signs of life, anyone that would help her find her way home again. It was so ironic that what she had been running from so frantically before she now missed most of all, her home. She still had visible marks on her face of her tears however, now they were dry and her rage was gone as well.
She had been fighting with her parents earlier that day, as she always did when they insisted that she not go outside with all of the other children, but instead stay inside and learn from her teacher the proper way in which a princess should behave. She truly hated those lessons and it was only at that time in which she wished that she was not born to her father, but to someone else in another place other than her native born place of Cleose.
That was the only time because other than that Princess Elizabeth Claudia Parker had the most absolutely perfect life, at least everyone else thought so. All she wanted to do was be like the other children, free to play and go wherever they please. She however was watched at all times and would never be allowed to engage in a game with the other children. That is unless they had a royal title, such as the soon to be Lord Kyle Valenti, how she hated him.
She would no longer be caged in that mangy castle, but instead be free as the birds that she could only see from her bedroom window. Now she would be able to do what she pleased. She realized now that she never thought about what she would when she was on her own, after all she was only ten years old.
While in her deep thought she continued walking and did not notice her strange new surroundings. That is until she heard a strange noise.
Liz: "Who's there?" She quickly scanned the premises as far as she could see to find the person that she knew was their, she didn't know why but she could feel the new visitor.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 1 B ********~~~~~~~~
He had snuck out again his parents would be notified and the guards would soon enough come to find him. His parents cared about him he knew that...they cared if he fought well with a sword, did well in his studies and also if he would one day be ready to take his seat on the throne as the next heir to Antar, but what about him, just him?
Did they care that he had scraped his knee while playing on the throne, cried whenever they went on one of their meetings on another planet for weeks without telling him. He was the heir to a throne, a King's son, a prince in his own right...and also the loneliest boy in the world.
Although his parents were "home" he had not been able to see them all day because of official business that they were tending to. They were HIS parents but maybe they had forgotten that he...was their son.
Yes, he understood that they had other duties to attend to. His entire life he had been to learn about his duty and the responsibilities that he would have as Maxwell Phillip Evans King of Antar. He knew what his fate was for it had been outlined since his birth, but his parents and all the people around him failed to see that he was right now in this very second...just a child.
He left because he knew that if there was one way to get his parent's attention was if that future heir had been found missing. His parents would surely send out the entire Antarian Military Force to find him. This thought satisfied him because then maybe he would get to see his parents pay attention to him even if it wasn't positive.
Suddenly as though being pulled from a dream he heard something from the woods.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 1 C********~~~~~~~~
Liz: "Who's there?"
He looked and there ten feet away stood a girl, she was not like any of the other girls he had ever met, she was different. He had never see anything like he and knew that he would never again see anything like her again, she was beautiful. She had the most beautiful hair he head ever seem and all he wanted to do was touch it. He was attracted to her like a magnet, who was she?
Max: "Who are you?" He then walked toward her in order for her to see him because he was sure that he hadn't because he could still see her looking around for a form to match the voice she heard.
Liz: "I do believe that I asked you first." She asked in a voice that tried to hide the fear that she spoke with.
It was not his intention to frighten her in any way he would never want to hurt her he didn't know why but he just wouldn't. It was as though he just wanted to go up to her and protect her from everything bad that was in the world.
Max: "My name is Max...Are you okay?"
Liz: "I seem to be lost, do you know where we are?" She didn't know why but she trusted him and she knew that he would help her. He looked like someone that would help her, he looked like a prince from one of the many fairy tales she had read as a little girl. She wanted him to rescue her, to save her from all of the evils of the world.
Max: "The in-betweens, it is a place that no one ever visits its sole purpose is to divide Antar and Cleose. This land belongs to no one it is simply and in-between. A place that doesn't belong to anyone not Antar or Cleose just a place where you can be anything that you want to be.
Liz: "My name is Liz." Liz smiled because she decided that she would just be Liz and not the princess of anything for the first time in her life she could just be Liz.

~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 2 A ********~~~~~~~~
Max: "Hi." Max smiled because he had no idea what to do next he was nervous around her, which wasn't really rare for Max because although he was a "trouble-maker" most of the time this was just because he was attempting to get his parents to notice him once again. He wasn't quite the center of attention, in fact if he wasn't the prince of his planet he could get away with not being noticed at all.
Liz: "You wouldn't happen to know how to get back to Cleose would you?" She asked with hope in her voice because for the first time in her life she wasn't within the walls of her palace or even her kingdom and she knew that she really needed to get back.
Max: "You're from Cleose?" No wonder he had never met him, she was from the other side of the planet and he had never been there.
Liz: "You're not...from Cleose?" Liz had never met anyone who was Antarian, in fact she was warned about the other side of the planet, especially the people. They were people with no remorse and would kill whom ever was a threat to there planet.
You see, for as long as Liz could remember her planet, well her family's side of the planet had been divided in to two halves the Antarian half, which this strange boy was from and her half, Cleose. The two races were not exactly on friendly terms and neither races were to associate with the other, in fact it was strictly forbidden.
Max: "Well you certainly don't look the way that I would imagine you to be." Max had always heard that the Cleose people were what you would call behind the times. When both of the sides of the planets had decided to split the Antarian people had prospered technologically and the Cleose people, well...he didn't really know. He had never really met anyone that was from Cleose.
Liz: "Well, you aren't exactly the emotionless machine that I have heard about either." Liz said this as she looked at this strange new boy which had more life in his beautiful eyes than anyone she had ever met.
Max: "An emotionless machine...?" Why would she think that? It seems that the people of the Cleose planet had just as many preconceived notions of the Antarian people as the Antarians of the Cleose.
Liz: "I've heard the tales of the Antarian people before the split and I realize now that maybe it was a bit of an embellishment." She smiled at him to let him know that she didn't at all think of him as as "emotionless machine" as she had said before.
He had never seen someone with a more beautiful smile than the one that he was being blessed with right now from her. Perhaps he would have to visit the other side of the in-betweens if everyone on the on the other side looked like her. He knew however, that she was one-of-a-kind and that no matter where he went there would never be someone else like her.
Max: "I don't mean to be rude but I come here all of the time and I've never seen anyone else here? What are you doing here?"
Liz: "I ran away from my c-" She had forgotten that in this place she was whatever she wanted to be and here and now all she wanted to do was be Liz. "...cottage and I ended up here."
Max: "Well, it seems that we're in the same situation because I ran away too." Max smiled for the first time in a long time, she made him smile. It seemed these days he was never in a mood to smile because of his entire life. However, in a moment where he was trying to escape it all he found a stranger that made him happier than he had been in a long time.
Liz: "Really, why did you run away because what ever it is it can't be as bad as my reasons." She was sure of that no one could understand what it was like to be her.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 2 B ********~~~~~~~~
Max: "Well my parents they're really important people back on Antar and they always have all these important things to do and it seems that these thing always seem to fall before there only son." Max looked down after telling this to Liz perhaps it was because he was trying to hide his tears from Liz.
Liz: "You're the only child? I'm the only child too! Well, my parents are really important people on Cleose too and they want me to grow up to be just like them. I know that maybe this sounds like a really selfish thing to you but they want this so badly for me that the only people that I ever see is them. It's like they poke and prod at me at all times. I really have never spent time with anyone my age." She looked up at him and he looked in to her eyes as though he was trying to see beyond them and in to her soul. And she wanted to let him see her, for the first time she thought that maybe someone just might understand.
Max: "All I want is for someone to pay attention to see me and that's it." That was really what he felt and for the first time in his life he was able to tell someone the truth.
Liz: "I see you..." She did, he was here and she was here and that was it. She wasn't the princess, just Liz.
Max: "You know this place is really special to me." He saw Liz look around and knew that she would be the only one to understand.
Liz: "Beautiful..." Although Max thought that she was talking about him because Liz let him think so, what she was really talking about was him.
Max: "It lies directly in between the entire planet and is actually what was used to represent the middle. However, it is also what brings the entire planet together as one. In this place the royal stones of both Antar and Cleose grow under water. That is why when you look beneath the water you see that amazing color that it gives off. However, even more amazing than that is the fact that, this is the only place where the rare jewels actually grow together. Since the split between both sides of the in-betweens people have forgotten this place by choice rather than by accident."
Liz: "They don't want to remember anything that can link them together as one single planet." She couldn't imaging telling her father about this he wouldn't understand. He would probably say that the beautiful jewel was a mutation rather than a rare gem.
Max: "Exactly." He smiled at her, she did understand. He knew that she would...somehow.
Liz: "This place is great, I can't believe that I've never been here or at least heard about it."
Max: "I love it here. This is always where I come to get away from it all, to forget about all of my problems and just be."
Liz: "Max, I have to tell you some-"
Just then Liz was cut off because they could hear people coming from both directions.
Max and Liz: "I have to go!" They both said this the same time to each other because they were both afraid at that moment.
Max was afraid that he would be caught with a strictly forbidden person from Cleose and would get attention from his parents but not any type of attention that he necessarily wanted.
Liz was afraid that she would be caught in her lie when the full Cleosan Military Force came to retrieve her and then Max would know the truth.
They both got up and started to run in opposite directions. Then Liz turned around when she heard her name being called and knew it was Max.
Max: "Liz! Will I ever see you again?" Max wasn't quite ready to let go of his new friend.
Liz heard the need in his voice and couldn't help being touched by this.
Liz: "Tomorrow! At three, I'll be here!"
Max: "So will I! Good-bye!"
Liz: "Good-bye!" She said this while smiling and waving. She was excited that she would get to see him again tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 2 C ********~~~~~~~~
Liz went home with that smile plastered on her face even while her parents yelled at her she was secretly smiling while she hung her head to hide joy. She couldn't remember when she had been this happy and her parents didn't seem to notice because they were too busy lecturing and punishing her.
A similar scene was occurring at Max's Palace as well. Although once again he was being punished by his nanny and he didn't seem to care that his parents weren't there for the first time in his life.
Max: "Hi." Max smiled because he had no idea what to do next he was nervous around her, which wasn't really rare for Max because although he was a "trouble-maker" most of the time this was just because he was attempting to get his parents to notice him once again. Author's Note: Guys thanks sooo much for reading my first fic and for all of your feedback. I have nothing else to do so I'll try to update as much as possible. I love you guys!
Just so you knwo the prophecy will not be todl until much, much later in the story but there friends will appear sooner than you think.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 A ********~~~~~~~~
Liz: "Mom...I think that I'm going to take a nap because I'm a little tired."
Liz's Mom: "Are you feeling okay Elizabeth?" She asked with concern in her voice.
Liz: " Yes, it's just that I feel a little light headed." She held her hand up to her forehead to signify her illness and hoped that her mother wouldn't have anymore questions.
Liz's Mom: "Well maybe I can reschedule your piano lessons for another time and then rearrange your schedule so that you can lie down for a minute." Liz's mother went from being concerned about Liz's health to being concerned about how Liz would ever catch up on all her lessons and the rest of her schedule.
Liz: "I'm really full from breakfast so I think that I'll just sleep right through lunch, so be sure not to wake me up." Liz hoped that this would work and give her enough time because she didn't want to get in trouble again like yesterday.
Liz walked away from her mother and she was so busy trying to figure out how to rearrange her schedule that she didn't see that after Liz said that she wasn't hungry she was on her way to the kitchen. The truth was that Liz was in fact starving but she had lied to her mother in order to be able to secretly sneak away and see her new friend. She was careful to pack enough food for two, went to her room, snuck out of her window and was on her way to the in-betweens.
The day before when she had been escorted home by some of the guards from her palace she had paid special attention to the path to her special place. It was through woods that really had no purpose for being there because there was no reason to go through them. Unless of course you were going to Antar, which no one would dare to. Although she knew that she shouldn't sneak around her parent's back she really saw no other way to see Max.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 B ********~~~~~~~~
Max climbed down his terrace and hoped that no one saw him because if they caught him there was no way that he would be able to see Liz. His legs knew the way to his favorite spot in the world he was instinctively to his spot while he thought about Liz.
He got there after her because when he arrived he saw her sitting on a rock that was on the edge of the water. It was hen that he got the most mischievous idea. He smiled just to think about what her response would be...
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 C ********~~~~~~~~
She finally reached her secret place and looked around but saw no Max. At first she was saddened because she thought that maybe Max wasn't able to make it but then all of a sudden she knew he was there. She knew that it was impossible but she could feel him approaching but how? She would find out how but not until years later in the most unexpected way. Just then he came up behind her. What happened next was unexpected by Liz.
All of a sudden she felt herself being pulled back by someone. Max had pulled her, not just anywhere but into the pool of water that lay right behind her. She hadn't expected this and was in temporary shock when she hit the surface of the cool water.
Liz temporarily struggled to get to the top of the water but just as she felt herself begin to struggle she felt Max's arms around her and he pulled her up. She felt angry and was more than ready to give Max a piece of her mind but when she finally got settled after getting a much needed breath of air she noticed that Max was nowhere to be found.
Liz: "Max, MAX!" She was getting concerned when she looked around saw nothing, no Max and no sign of him. Then all of a sudden she heard something behind her.
Max: "BOO!" There he was all smiles and dripping wet. He was looking at her as if she was the only girl in the world.
Liz: "Max! You scared me so much but then I couldn't find you and..."
Max: "What's wrong?" He asked with great concern in his voice because he could see all the sadness in her eyes.
Liz: "Well...nothing! I can't believe that you pulled me in here. What if I didn't know how to swim, I could have drowned!"
Max: " Then, I would have saved you."
Liz: "Really, like a knight in shining armor." She said this because that's what she wanted for Max to save her, to be everything that she wanted him to be and more.
Max: "Exactly." He said with the smile of a God. After this she couldn't be angry at him, he was so happy. He was nothing like the boy that she had met just yesterday, she was smiling too she noticed.
Liz: "I brought lunch for us and I happen to be starving, do you want to eat with me?" She hoped that he did because she didn't want to eat alone and she was really hungry and didn't want to seem like a pig.
Max: "Actually, I'm starving too." Max had been punished for his actions yesterday and was just waiting until they sent him his lunch so that he could sneak out. When he got his lunch in his room he knew that this was his opportunity. He knew that no one would bother him for a while. Therefore no one would notice that he was missing.
They sat and ate for what seemed like only a second to Liz and Max but what was really and hour-and-a-half. The pair soon enough had to go but not before they had to say there sad good-byes. That was the thing about Max and Liz whenever they weren't together it was as if they weren't complete and the only thing that they dreaded about being together was when they had to part.
During the next year they spent all of their free time together no matter what lies they had to tell to be together. At times there parents wondered where they were, but then it didn't seem to matter that much after they saw just how happy Max and Liz were. This would be a factor in a decision that would effect there whole planet one day but it would be years until they would think about this ever again. Nothing seemed to matter when they were together not even the truth about who they were because in this place, the in-betweens they could be anything that they wanted.
All they wanted was of course just to be able to be themselves and to be able to be together. All of the troubles that they had with there parents seemed to float away when they were together. After only a few days of knowing each other they couldn't even imagine a time when they didn't have each other. It was as if there lives didn't even begin until that fateful day when they met.
Max: "Liz...I've never had a bestfriend before. In fact, I've never really had a lot of friends because of my parents. But now that you're here, I can't ever imagine not having you with me." He looks at her and looks down to avoid her seeing him blush.
Liz: "Max...I love you. You are my bestfriend too!" She smiled a great smile, one that he would keep with him for years to come. Then she gave him a hug and even though Max didn't respond at first because there was no one in Max's life that had ever hugged him, he soon brought his arms around Liz.
Max learned many things from Liz during only one year but the most important was how to love. The Antarian people were not really people who wore there hearts on there sleeves but that's not how Liz and the entire Cleosan race was. They were people who showed emotion almost as the human race did.
Although Max had ever been exposed to hugs, kisses and I love yous it was hard at first but soon enough he changed his ways. Liz taught him how to be who we all want to be free. Free to love and care for someone, anyone but most importantly...Liz.
~~~~~~~~******* Hint, Hint ********~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 A ********~~~~~~~~
Liz: "Mom...I think that I'm going to take a nap because I'm a little tired."
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 B ********~~~~~~~~
Max climbed down his terrace and hoped that no one saw him because if they caught him there was no way that he would be able to see Liz. His legs knew the way to his favorite spot in the world he was instinctively to his spot while he thought about Liz.
He got there after her because when he arrived he saw her sitting on a rock that was on the edge of the water. It was hen that he got the most mischievous idea. He smiled just to think about what her response would be...
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 3 C ********~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~******* Hint, Hint ********~~~~~~~~
There happiness wouldn't last because although they didn't know it yet the strength of there friendship would soon be tested...
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 4 A ********~~~~~~~~
As always Max and Lix were once again together in that place that could only be described as there own.
Max: "Liiiiiiiiiz, where aaaaaaare yooooou?" Max quickly scanned as far as he could see and couldn't see any sign of Liz. Where was she, Max wondered to himself?
Than all of a sudden, out of the corner of his eye he saw a moving bush. Liz wasn't usually this good at this game he wondered just what Liz had up her sleeve. Liz was always the clever one that's one of the things that he love about her.
Max: "Liiiiiiz I can see you I know that you're right behind-" Max was cut short when he felt two hands come over his eyes. He didn't even think twice about who it could be.
Liz: "Guess who!?" Now where was I you said?" Liz couldn't stop laughing she loved playing hide-n-go-seek but usually she wasn't very good at hiding and Max found her quickly because she couldn't stop from giggling but this time she had won! She couldn't help but being excited.
Max wasn't going to let Liz get away with this! Max spun around and had the most mischievous smile on his face. Then before Liz could even think to react Max was tickling her without warning. Liz was laughing so hard that she thought that she would surely pee on herself.
Liz: "Max! I give up, please stop!" Liz managed to say all of this in between laughs.
Max: "Hahaha! Well, you give up, that's a first." Max backed up a little and finally stopped tickling Liz.
Liz: "Just kidding!" Liz said as she charged Max in full force and before they knew it they were both laying on the floor and going rapidly down hill.
It was safe to say that when they both hit the bottom of that hill they had both given up. They had been at there tickling game for at least a half hour and when they hit the bottom of that hill it was a reminder that the real world existed and soon enough they would have to leave each other as they did every day.
Liz: "Max it's getting late..." Liz was sad because she knew that as soon as the sun began to go down every day it was time to go home...away from Max.
Max: "You're right." Max knew that Liz went home every day but that was it. What did Liz do when she wasn't with Max? What was her life like? All these things that Max didn't know about her and yet she loved her.
Liz stood up, shook as much of the dirt that she could off of her dress and was ready to go, then she used her powers to remove any dirt that was not already gone. Max often wondered why Liz did this every day instead of just using her powers. Her ways were strange for Max who had a daily training session on how to use his powers. Max was going to ask Liz about this but he would save his questions for tomorrow because today, there day was already coming to an end.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 4 B ********~~~~~~~~
Liz was having another boring dinner with her parents after a long day with Max. She had a huge smile on her face as she recalled the events of the day.
Liz's Mom: "Elizabeth me and your father have something to tell you and we were going to wait until after dinner but since you are in such a good mood we hope that this will only add to your happiness."
Liz: "What is it?" Liz said very much uninterested. It was probably another play date with Kyle again...yuck.
Liz's Mom: "You will be going on a trip soon." Liz's mother said with a questioning smile on her face while she looked to see what Liz's reaction would be.
Liz: "Really! Where are we going?" Liz said this with excitement. She had never really been on a trip and was excited to get out of these walls of her castle for a change.
Liz's Mom: "Well...weee aren't going, just you." This time she didn't smile and just looked towards Liz to see her reaction.
Liz: "By myself...? Where am I going?" More importantly when will I be back? Liz thought about this when she remembered that she wouldn't be able to see Max every day as she had for the past year.
Liz's Mom: "Honey we've noticed that lately you've strayed from your studies and the rest of your responsibilities. We just think that maybe you need a new start, away from here."
Liz: "Mom, where am I going?" Liz was concerned because she knew that she was trying to avoid answering her question.
Liz's Mom: "You're going to school, honey." She hoped that Liz would be happy about this.
Liz: "With normal kids!?" Liz was happy she would finally get to play with other children.
Liz's Mom: "...boarding school." She hoped that Liz didn't hear this because she seemed to be so happy with the rest of the news.
Liz: "b-b-boarding school?" She couldn't leave! She wouldn't leave! How did she expect her to just leave?!
Liz's Dad: "Aren't you excited Liz? You always said that you wanted to leave this castle and be able to play with normal children your age. We just thought that this new school would e in your best interest." Liz's father was always trying to get Liz see the positive in the situation.
Liz: "I won't go." Liz said this with all the confidence in the world. She was after all a princess of an entire kingdom, didn't she have any power?
Liz's Mom: "Elizabeth, this isn't your choice we have already decided. We think that this time away will give you some time to figure out your priorities. Lately you have been disappearing out of nowhere and have completely lost interest in all of your lessons and plans for the future. We know that you are happier than you've ever been but we don't even know why. We're just not quite sure that whatever it is that's making you so happy is good for you."
Liz: "Like you said mother, you have no idea what's going on with me. Therefore you had no right to make a decision about my life without me!"
Liz's Dad: "Liz...this has already been decided and there's absolutely no room for argument, you leave tomorrow after sun fall." Liz's father looked Liz in the eye and she knew there was nothing that she could say to argue or change his mind. And it was then that she felt her emotions become too much and she began to cry.
Before her parents could say anything to comfort her she ran away to her secret place. If it had been any other year that her parents had told her of her departure she would have been more than happy to go, but why did it have to be now? Just when she had met her new friend Max.
She wasn't dumb she knew that she had found someone different that had changed her life forever but she also hoped that that's how long she had...forever. She had once told herself that if she were to lose Max tomorrow, after only knowing him a couple of weeks that she would be happy just because she had him for as long as she did.
She was truthful that day but somewhere along the way that had changed. She wanted for it to be easy to let him go but it wasn't. Letting him go after having him would be one of the hardest things she would ever have to do. Tomorrow would be there last day together and the fact that she could see there diminishing friendship was the worst part of all.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 4 C ********~~~~~~~~
When she got there the next day he was already there. She hoped the entire night as she slept that she would wake up and all of this was just a nightmare or that her parents would have changed there minds, but it wasn't and they didn't.
Max: "What took you so long?" Max always made fun of Liz because she was always the one that got there last.
Liz: "Max...I have something to tell you," Liz was suddenly at the point of tears. "...something important.

~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 5 A ********~~~~~~~~
Max: "What's wrong?" Max said with all the concern in the world.
Liz: "I'm leaving." Liz looked up at Max right in to those eyes that she loved so much.
Max: "Well, that's okay maybe we can hang out tomorrow." He smiled to make her feel better because he still didn't know why she was almost at the point of tears and he definitely didn't want her crying for any reason.
Liz: "No Max. Tomorrow, I'm leaving to another planet." She didn't know what to do all she could do was wait for his reaction. She didn't know why but what he said next could potentially break her. When did he develop such power over him?
Max: "Liz..."
What happened next was beyond anything that either one of them expected. It was as though before Max couldn't even think about his reaction when his heart took over. He put his hands on both sides of Liz's face and he looked in to her eyes, I mean really looked.
Then after that he loved her even more. He knew that if it had been any other time in Liz's life she would have been fine with leaving. It just seemed to him that Liz always wanted to be away from her home and that was one of the reasons that she loved their special place because it wasn't her home. However, he knew that she was nervous because she was leaving him behind with all his feeling that only he knew about how could he let her leave without telling her everything.
He kissed her... He saw her for who she really was without knowing anything about, what she did when she wasn't with him, he saw her. It was in that moment that he decided that he would always love her no matter the distance or the years.
It was there first kiss seeing that they were at a tender age of ten, right there in there place he took her lips and surprised them both.
Liz: "What are you doing?"
Liz could have swore that this was only a thought in her head but before she knew it the words were out there. She couldn't take then back but she didn't want him to stop or think that the kiss wasn't welcome. She didn't know when but somewhere between all the tickling and conversation she had begun to develop very strong emotions for Max. However, before she could register all this he replied.
Max was confused with her stranger response to his kiss but that wouldn't stop him. He knew how he felt about Liz and it was now or never. He needed her to know how he felt and needed to lay all his cards out on the table.
Max: "...kissing you..."
He never dared to look up in to her eyes just in case. He hoped that her comment had only been one of her quirky slip-ups that she always had. He hoped so much that she would know his feeling and welcome them because she felt the same way. He hoped so many things even if she was leaving tomorrow they still had today, here and now.
He took her lips but this time she let him in. He had actually never thought that having someone else's tongue in his mouth would actually be this interesting but it was amazing. She was leaned up against him and for the first time he noticed how small she was. All he ever wanted to do was protect her and stay like this forever. Forever...she was leaving tomorrow and there was so much still left to say.
He stepped back from her reluctantly and when he looked back he saw the most beautiful vision. She was standing there in front of him with her eyes closed. Her hair was blowing in the wind and at that moment he made a promise that one day he would be with her...but how?
It was as if though he had forgotten everything. Although they were excepted here, where were they really? They were in the in-betweens not in the real world, they would never be accepted in any one of there worlds. That would be another conversation right now all he wanted to do was tell her his secret.
Max: " Liz..." He said to bring her out of her trance.
Liz: "Max..."
That's all she could think of to say. She didn't know what else to say. She knew that he felt the same way that she felt for him and now it was confirmed. They had crossed the line in between friends and something...more. What she also remembered is that she was leaving.
Max: " Liz I have something to say to you and I don't want you to say anything until I've thoroughly embarrassed myself and I've said everything that I needed to say because if I don't say it now I will never have another chance."
Liz could only nod in response.
Max: " In the past year..."..."ever since I met you..."..."Liz..."
Liz: " Max...you can tell me anything." Liz looked in to his eyes so that he could see that she was telling the truth, that she would be with him no matter what and more importantly no matter where she was.
Max: " I know. I know that whenever I needed someone to talk to you were here. When my parents made me mad and when they weren't there which was more often than not you would always be here for me. No matter what you were here and I'm not only talking about in this place but even when you weren't with me...you were."
Liz couldn't help but cry he was so beautiful and all the things that he was saying made her feel so much more love for him.
Max: " Liz don't cry, not for me. You gave me so much, the last thing that I would ever want to do is make you cry. You taught me how to love and although it's not your fault that you're leaving me. In a way I feel like if I had to beg you to stay so that you would, then I would humiliate myself so that we could have just one more day."
Liz: " Max..." She was leaving, without him. She knew that she was only ten years old and that others would say that there would be other boys and she would think that she was in love with them too but this was different, he was different.
Liz: "...I'll come back for you Max..." She would, no matter how long she was at that place no matter who else she met, she would come back, she had to.
Max: " I'll be waiting." He would he would wait as long as it took, forever if he had to.
Liz: " Good-bye Max..."
Max: " Good-bye."
Liz didn't want to cry in front of him because then he would know then he would know that she was crying because of him. She ran but then remembered something and turned around for just long enough to look at him one last time and ask him this question.
Liz: " Do you love me..." It was something that she knew, but it seemed like an eternity since she last heard those words from his lips. It was a request on her part to hear those words just one more time so that she could remember because at that moment she felt like she would never hear those words again. Almost as if this wouldn't be okay and they would never be together again not like this anyway.
Max: " Liz...I love you."
~~~~~~~~******** _ ********~~~~~~~~
She left that next morning. She couldn't even speak to her parents for making her go to another place where she was sure she didn't belong because she knew that she belonged with Max.
Liz's Mom: " Liz, this isn't something that we're looking forward to either, you know." Liz's mother tried to make a peace offering by giving Liz a hug.
Liz's Dad: " We'll miss you honey, but we have to do what's best for you and this is what's best for you." Liz's father also hugged his daughter because he knew that he wouldn't see her for years and when she came back he would let her in on the secret that he had known since her birth but chose to spare her from. He was sure that he would hate her just like she did right now.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 5 B ********~~~~~~~~
It had been six days since she first got here and since that moment that she first stepped in to this school she hadn't tried to make any friends or have any fun. All she could do was think about Max. However, these moments of solitude were sometimes interrupted by people who thought that it was okay to knock at her door. She got up from her bed and opened the door and what she found was unexpected.
~~~~~~~~******** _ ********~~~~~~~~
Six days and no Liz. He came here every day and every day he hoped that maybe today was the day that Liz had returned and every day he was disappointed and a little more heart broken. Where was she and what was she doing and thinking?
On that sixth day he decided that he had nothing left in this place, no Liz and he had never really had his parents, so he was leaving. He had suggested it to his parents the day before, thinking that boarding school would be good for him as future king they approved and would let him leave whenever he wanted. The next day he would be on his way away from here and all of the memories. Maybe he thought when he returned she would be here, maybe.
Max: "What's wrong?" Max said with all the concern in the world.
Liz: "I'm leaving." Liz looked up at Max right in to those eyes that she loved so much.
Max: "Well, that's okay maybe we can hang out tomorrow." He smiled to make her feel better because he still didn't know why she was almost at the point of tears and he definitely didn't want her crying for any reason.
Liz: "No Max. Tomorrow, I'm leaving to another planet." She didn't know what to do all she could do was wait for his reaction. She didn't know why but what he said next could potentially break her. When did he develop such power over him?
Max: "Liz..."
What happened next was beyond anything that either one of them expected. It was as though before Max couldn't even think about his reaction when his heart took over. He put his hands on both sides of Liz's face and he looked in to her eyes, I mean really looked.
Then after that he loved her even more. He knew that if it had been any other time in Liz's life she would have been fine with leaving. It just seemed to him that Liz always wanted to be away from her home and that was one of the reasons that she loved their special place because it wasn't her home. However, he knew that she was nervous because she was leaving him behind with all his feeling that only he knew about how could he let her leave without telling her everything.
He kissed her... He saw her for who she really was without knowing anything about, what she did when she wasn't with him, he saw her. It was in that moment that he decided that he would always love her no matter the distance or the years.
It was there first kiss seeing that they were at a tender age of ten, right there in there place he took her lips and surprised them both.
Liz: "What are you doing?"
Liz could have swore that this was only a thought in her head but before she knew it the words were out there. She couldn't take then back but she didn't want him to stop or think that the kiss wasn't welcome. She didn't know when but somewhere between all the tickling and conversation she had begun to develop very strong emotions for Max. However, before she could register all this he replied.
Max was confused with her stranger response to his kiss but that wouldn't stop him. He knew how he felt about Liz and it was now or never. He needed her to know how he felt and needed to lay all his cards out on the table.
Max: "...kissing you..."
He never dared to look up in to her eyes just in case. He hoped that her comment had only been one of her quirky slip-ups that she always had. He hoped so much that she would know his feeling and welcome them because she felt the same way. He hoped so many things even if she was leaving tomorrow they still had today, here and now.
He took her lips but this time she let him in. He had actually never thought that having someone else's tongue in his mouth would actually be this interesting but it was amazing. She was leaned up against him and for the first time he noticed how small she was. All he ever wanted to do was protect her and stay like this forever. Forever...she was leaving tomorrow and there was so much still left to say.
He stepped back from her reluctantly and when he looked back he saw the most beautiful vision. She was standing there in front of him with her eyes closed. Her hair was blowing in the wind and at that moment he made a promise that one day he would be with her...but how?
It was as if though he had forgotten everything. Although they were excepted here, where were they really? They were in the in-betweens not in the real world, they would never be accepted in any one of there worlds. That would be another conversation right now all he wanted to do was tell her his secret.
Max: " Liz..." He said to bring her out of her trance.
Liz: "Max..."
That's all she could think of to say. She didn't know what else to say. She knew that he felt the same way that she felt for him and now it was confirmed. They had crossed the line in between friends and something...more. What she also remembered is that she was leaving.
Max: " Liz I have something to say to you and I don't want you to say anything until I've thoroughly embarrassed myself and I've said everything that I needed to say because if I don't say it now I will never have another chance."
Liz could only nod in response.
Max: " In the past year..."..."ever since I met you..."..."Liz..."
Liz: " Max...you can tell me anything." Liz looked in to his eyes so that he could see that she was telling the truth, that she would be with him no matter what and more importantly no matter where she was.
Max: " I know. I know that whenever I needed someone to talk to you were here. When my parents made me mad and when they weren't there which was more often than not you would always be here for me. No matter what you were here and I'm not only talking about in this place but even when you weren't with me...you were."
Liz couldn't help but cry he was so beautiful and all the things that he was saying made her feel so much more love for him.
Max: " Liz don't cry, not for me. You gave me so much, the last thing that I would ever want to do is make you cry. You taught me how to love and although it's not your fault that you're leaving me. ~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 6 A ********~~~~~~~~
Right there in front of Liz was a girl, a girl that she had never seen before. She had short blonde hair and really pretty green eyes. Liz hadn't been visited by any of the other students while she was here only concerned teachers and counselor. Liz noticed that the girl had bags on the floor and in her hand, but before Liz could say anything this short girl took over, literally.
Maria: "I was knocking for like six hours I thought that you were never going to open that door! What took you so long!"
She was obviously upset at Liz taking her time answering the door, but she didn't know why. Liz was the princess of a planet no one other than her parents had ever yelled at her, who did she think that she was?
Liz: "Umm...excuse me?" Liz said with obvious surprise in her voice.
Maria: " Yeah I would have opened it with my own key but I had my hands a little occupies if you know what I mean." She looked down at all of her luggage. While she was talking Liz noticed that she had made her way in to the room with her luggage and was carrying it in as they spoke.
Liz: " What are you doing?" Liz asked clearly confused on why this loud mouthed girl was invading her space.
Maria: " Well...now I can see exactly why you've been all by yourself since you got here. I can't imagine that anyone would want to talk to a princess like you."
Liz had never been talked to like this, who was this girl? More importantly how dare she talk to her in that tone knowing that she was a princess,
Liz: " I'm sorry for being rude before, I just don't understand what you are doing and why...and how did you know I've been alone all this time?" Liz was a bit embarrassed by the girl who seemed to know so much about her and she knew nothing about.
Maria: "Well...my name is Maria and I'm your new roommate." She extended her hand out to shake Liz's hand and smiled to show that she hadn't been offended by Liz's earlier comments.
Liz extended her hand out but had a quick unhappy response.
Liz: "I'm sorry but I asked to have a private room, so this is clearly a mistake." Liz was sure about this.
Maria: " Oh trust me so did I, but then my parents found out that they had no more rooms available and since they are the queen and king of this planet it's safe to say that they have a little bit of pull with the headmaster. So they called your parents after they were told that you had a private room and they approved after hearing that you weren't the social butterfly of the school."
Liz was amazed not only because of her new roommate but also because she said that all without ever taking a single breath. This girl was nothing like anyone that she had ever met.
Liz: " Well...I'm Liz and I guess I should help you with those bags of yours because after all you are my new roommate, right." She smiled because after all it wasn't her fault that she was in a grumpy mood because of Max and it was only polite to be at least civil.
Maria: "Yeah...and I can help you with this room because by the looks of it you have no fashion taste." She looked around disapprovingly.
Liz looked around at the room and noticed for the first time that Maria was right, she hadn't even unpacked let alone had time to do any decorating. She didn't really care about anything and for the first time she realized that Maria had been right in saying that she hadn't exactly been the social butterfly of the school.
Liz: " Well...I've been really distracted lately. I haven't really had time to do anything."
Maria: " Well, that is all about to change with me around."
Liz smiled because for some reason she knew that she was really going to like this Maria girl.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 6 B ********~~~~~~~~
Teacher: " Would you agree Miss Deluca?" The teacher said louder than was necessary clearly trying to wake up Maria from her slumber.
Liz: "Maria, wake up!" Liz whispered to Maria, the teacher was asking her a question because it was obvious to her that Maria was asleep once again.
Maria hurriedly woke up and looked at her teacher.
Maria: "Yes! I absolutely she said with a smile to emphasize her response.
Teacher: "Lucky guess Miss Deluca especially considering that you have been asleep ever since class started." She gave Maria a look of anger.
Maria: "Thanks Liz, you saved me there."
It had been about six years since that first night Maria and Liz had met and since then many things had changed. Maria was right that night when she said things were going to change not only did she and Liz become friends but they became bestfriends. Every year after that they had been roommates and when they weren't at school Liz spent her summers and holidays with Maria on Pelta the planet that the school was located on.
Although her parents wanted her to come home what Liz didn't know was that in the past years her home had become a war zone. She knew that there was a war happening between the two sides of her planet but she had no idea of just how bad it was. Actually returning to her planet involved taking the risk that she could be kidnapped and be kept as a bargain tool on the Antarian part.
Right now Maria and Liz were in their final year of school and it would be inevitable for Liz to return sooner or However, that wasn't for a few months and right now she was trying to concentrate on her teacher and class that she didn't want to take but really had no other choice. You see at the present moment she was trying to listen to her Fairy Tales teacher.
Well...that wasn't the actual name of her class but that's what is seemed like to her. That's what there focus was basically set on. At the moment they were talking about the fairy tales of the planet Pelta and then, they would move on to all of the rest of the planets. Now that she thought of it did her planet even have any fairy tales? However, she didn't have time to think about it now because just at that moment it was time for her next class.
~~~~~~~~******** Chapter 6 C ********~~~~~~~~
Max: " Great going Michael."
Max was mad once again at Michael which really wasn't much of a change because it seemed even though Michael was his bestfriend Michael always did something to make Max angry at him. In fact most people had something against Michael and most of there reasons were just because he was...well...Michael.
Michael: " Hey! That guy had it coming, he was looking at me weird."
Yes! Exactly Michael had beat up a guy just because he looked at him funny which wasn't really an unusual reason for Max anymore. He had become used to these what could only be called "Michael reasons" which could only be thought up by Michael and understood by Max.
The first person that Max had met when he came here was Michael and since then they had become bestfriends. When Max first came here he wasn't very good at this whole "soldier" thing but Michael was. Michael saw this and thought that he would do Max a favor and in turn he always seemed to be there to clean up Michael's messes and there was a lot.
The rest of these people all had a reason to be here just like Max. Most of the boys had been sent here from royal families to reform them to one day be part and others to learn the art of war to one day be part of what would be Max's Royal Advisory Board. Max always laughed at this because it was only ironic that they were preparing for a war when there was currently a war being fought for reasons that he would never truly understand.
