“That could be hours from now,” Liz says as she starts spooning out some cookies with me. “I guess that all depends on how well things work out.”

How well the work out? I wonder what she means by that...

Things are going so nicely. I'm standing here making cookies with Liz again. Spending time with the most wonderful girl I ever met. And the amazing thing is, we're talking about her giving me a kiss!

Sure, it's all light-hearted and if she actually does it, it'll be some light peck on the cheek, but I don't care. A kiss from Liz would be amazing. Even more amazing than just talking to her like this. She seems like she's having fun. I sure hope she is.

"Sounds like it could be a lot sooner if things keep going the way they were," I say with a glint in my eye. I almost hope they do -- I'd like Alex to have a chance -- but I don't want to wish a bad evening on Isabel. I'll just hope for the best, just like Liz is. At the moment, however, that really isn't the issue. I just want to see how far this conversation might go. "But I suppose we'll see."

Those girls sure seem to be easy. Just look at the girl Alex is taken out.
ah, so Alex can only take easy girls out

“The thing is, I don’t think that I want to get too attached to someone that I’m going to have to say goodbye to when the show ends. I mean, I live in New York and I love it there so much. I just don’t think that long distance relationship work.”

"You do have a point there but ... you can never know if the same won't happen with someone you meet in New York. Besides, when you found the one, then I don't think that a long distance relationship - sucky as those are - would really be such a big problem. It certainly would be a problem that could be solved, when you love NY then your other half would certainly love it too I think."

“But everyone will know us as soon as the show goes out.” I point out, nodding towards the television crew who have been following us around. Wow, I’ve just realized that this show is going to go nationwide and everyone is going to see what a disaster my thing with Jake was and now Kyle. God, this show is so jinxed.

“And I’ve been having fun since I was sixteen years old. Maybe I want to find someone I can be with for the long run,” I say, feeling slightly stupid. “Maybe I want to find my future husband.”

“Maybe I want to find my future husband.”

Wow, that sounds serious. I didn't really expect Isabel as the kind of girl who wants to marry soon instead of partying. But then again, if she's doing that since she's sixteen ...

"Okay, while I am certainly uncomfortable with talking about marriage on a first date even when it is just a platonic-friends-date, you can still find the perfect guy here I think. Okay, so Jake turned out to be an ass and I turned out to be too much of the brother type, Max seems out of the picture too and Michael ... Michael doesn't appear as if he wants to settle down just yet. At least not with one girl only."

I can really picture Michael with a little harem of his own now when I think of it. I bet the guy is dreaming about that at least once a week! Would explain some of the weird noises he makes when asleep. Eww.

"Okay, so you can forget us four and ..." I snap my fingers as if I just had an idea when in reality I already had this planned when starting my wise monologue. "... hey, there's still Alex with whom you seem to get along well!"

I’m more than a little taken back by Kyle’s suggestion of Alex. I mean, hello that is nearly as crazy as the sports bar idea. Alex and I are friends, just friends. Right? I mean, there isn’t anything else between us apart from friendship. Right?

“Uh, Alex and I are just good friends,” I state, resisting the urge to ask Kyle why he thought Alex and I were anything but friends.

“Uh, Alex and I are just good friends."

Okay, good she looks really taken by surprise. Guess she hadn't thought of that possibility yet. And even though the others were worried about Alex being too obvious with his mooning, she hasn't noticed it yet.

"Yeah right." I say dismissively.

“Sounds like it could be a lot sooner if things keep going the way they were. But I suppose we’ll see,” Max says, the slightest twinge of cynicism in his voice, as though he was simply humoring me and Izzy and Kyle were going to walk through the door in a matter of minutes.

“What happened to wishing the best?” I ask with a playful tone. “Where’s your optimism hiding? Alex hasn’t called, which means he’s having a good time with Ashley,” I gently point out without looking up at him. “The least we can do is hope for Izzy to have at least as much fun as he is. I know that we’re trying to get them together, but . . . but her having a horrible time with Kyle isn’t right if Alex is having a good date with Ashley.

“And did Tess not kiss you enough today? Is that why you want this sooner than later?” I joke as I take a couple chocolate chips from their bag and eat them with a smile.

Thinking about Alex and his date, I wonder about Isabel and Kyle again. If Alex and his friend get on, that would probably mean that he wouldn't be interested in Isabel afterall. In that case, I wouldn't want Isabel to be alone...

“And did Tess not kiss you enough today? Is that why you want this sooner than later?” Liz teases.

I shut my mouth, firmly. Sure, I'd kissed Tess today and she'd kissed me, but I just don't think it's going to go anywhere. Still, I can't tell Liz that I'm breaking up with Tess before I tell Tess. That won't do. Why did Liz mention that, anyway? Is she trying to get rid of me? I know she's not interested, not really. She's made that quite clear enough. Maybe the joke has gone too far...???

I look away, taking the filled cookie trays and sliding them into the oven. Maybe it's time to give up on this. It's not like she was going to kiss me anyway and I don't want to annoy her...

"I don't want anyone to have a bad time," I say, speaking more seriously than before, switching the topic slightly. "Do you think Alex is really interested in that girl? What was her name? Stacy?"

Used Kyle for a little bit. Hope you don't mind, Trude.

“Yeah right.” Kyle says dismissively and I’m not if he is dismissing my statement about me and Alex being just friends or his earlier words.

“We are. I mean, Alex is great. He’s smart, cute and funny. He’s a really good friend, one of the best I’ve made in the house.” I say, meaning every single word about Alex. He is an amazing guy.

Kyle nods, “Well, it doesn’t matter anyway. Alex is dating Ashley.”

I nearly choke on the water I was sipping when Kyle mentions Ashley. Ugh, just saying her name makes my skin crawl. Alex deserves so much better then some easy redhead. He deserves someone who is as smart, funny and cute as him.

“One date doesn’t count as dating.” I point out. “But I’m sure that Alex is having a really good time with Addison.”

I can't help and grin when Isabel chokes on her drink. Either she really doesn't like this Ashley or she is actually attracted to Whitman. The first would actually be more logical but since I'm sure she hasn't even met the girl yet it actually has to be the second.

“But I’m sure that Alex is having a really good time with Addison.”

"Yeah, Ashley seems like someone who knows how to have fun." I say, hiding my grin behind my hand. "You sure you want Alex to have fun tonight with Ashley and not with .... someone else?"
