Fashion spreads... I fight back my automatic reaction to the images those words bring to my mind. Isabel in a fashion spread. Wow.

Okay, focus. What was the rest of what she said?

"I'm from California," I tell her. "I've never thought about modeling, no." It sounds kinda wussy, but if it brings me near people like Isabel, well, maybe I should re-think things. "I like to rebuild motorcycles and I like to paint. I'm an artist." I tell her.

You know, I should probably get back to that. I miss it. I could probably get an easel and some canvasses easily enough. Maybe it would help me sort out this place to have a familiar activity besides just watching my games on the tube...

"I could paint your portrait, if you like," I add with a smile.

Me, too. LOL. Since nobody's playing Maria anymore he's been left high and dry. Usually the M/M pairing is the most lively -- not like this. *shrug*


Maybe we should start looking for a new Maria or I could temp til Bre rejoins us. It doesn't seem fair to leave Michael high and dry, lol.



ISABEL

“If you like.” I say, not taking his offer too seriously. I glance down at his hands and can‘t help but notice that he does actually have good looking hands. Now what‘s that old saying about painters and their hands? “Figures that you would be good with your hands but tell me, are you a modern day Michelangelo or what?”

As we approach the bar, I smile at Alex and the rest of the gang while grabbing the drink that Alex had kindly bought me. Murmuring a quick thanks to Alex, I focus my attention back on Michael. Hmm, he really isn’t has bad as I first thought he was.

I smile back at Iz and hand her the drink before she turns back to Michael again. Must have been an interesting conversation they have going on. Oh well, she said thanks so I don't feel like a servant boy or anything.

Turning back to the others, I ask Max. "I'm sure Maria is fine and if she is still in the bathroom in ten minutes, we can send someone inside."

I start to smile at that. She didn't seem that enthusastic about a portrait, which is probably all to the best. Portraits aren't my specialty, but for her I'd try it. In fact, maybe that is what I'll try when I get myself some equipment... But she is saying nice things about me being good with my hands. That's got to be a good sign.

Isabel has taken the drink Alex has for her so I raise my hand to attract the bartender's attention while I continue to talk to Isabel. "I'm very good with my hands," I smile at her. "I like to do landscapes with people in them. Like Monet. Only I'd do beach scenes and not so much impressionism. Sometimes interior stuff. Do you like art?" I ask.

I smile at Isabel as she returns to the bar. I hope she's having a nice time and that Michael isn't doing anything to make her uncomfortable. She's been a good friend to me, I think.

At Alex's comment about another ten minutes to wait on Maria, I have to raise an eyebrow. "I don't know. She's already been in there an awful long time." I look at Liz and Tess and Kelsey. I glance at Isabel, too. Maybe she could use this as an escape from Michael, if in fact, she needs one...

"I think someone should go check on her now."

“Yeah, I like art.” I nod before confessing, “I don’t know much about it, just the things I picked up from High School but I enjoy looking at the different styles and meaning behind each piece of art.”

As I take a sip of my drink, I catch part of Alex’s conversation with Max and the others.

"I'm sure Maria is fine and if she is still in the bathroom in ten minutes, we can send someone inside."

"I don't know. She's already been in there an awful long time. "I think someone should go check on her now."

“I wouldn’t want to interrupt her mumbling, muttering and glaring.” I say, sounding more bitchy than I should. I’m just so annoyed with Maria at the moment. In the restroom, I tried to reach out to her and in returned I got snapped at. I really don’t know what is going on with her and I’m starting to lose patience.

I raise my eyebrow at both Isabel's words and her tone. Looks like Maria managed to piss her off. Have to admit that I know how easy that is from experience.

I shake my head in answer to Alex’s question. “No she didn’t insult me. She was just being really…” I pause, searching for the right word. “Difficult. I don’t know what has gotten into her the last few days.”

I almost say *PMS* but can hold myself back. Don't think that one would have been a good statement when not one but four girls are within hitting distance!

"Maybe she is just a bit overhelmed by the whole experience." I say with a shrug before giving a sarcastic wave to one of the camera man next to us.

"Who cares," I shrug. "If she wants to hang out in the bathroom, that's her choice. She's an adult."

"What?" Max says sounding indignant. "She's our friend. I care."

"If she's our friend, we should respect her decision. Not everyone has to enjoy a party the same way you do," I tell him.
