Part One
"It started..." she smiled, he couldn't quite see her arms under her thick black sweater. He made a quick note of that in his notebook. There was a tape recorder resting on the worn wood coffee table in front of him "It started a long time ago. I can't be sure when" she pulled her knees up against her chest and wrapped her arms around them. He tapped his pen on the top of his notepad, this was a dead end story
"Please" he said when he noticed she was staring hard at him with her big brown eyes "Continue"
"This is not a dead end story" she said clearly "This story has to be told, whether you believe me or not" he remained quiet. She had said what he had been exactly thinking. He shifted in his chair, something was different about this story.
"But when it started for me... when all of this began for me I was sixteen. I went by the name of Liz Parker then and I worked in my father's cafe in the alien capital of the world Roswell New Mexico. One day there was a brawl and a gun was pulled out. On September 19th 1999 I died" she put her feet down on the floor then pulled moved to the window. She glanced out nervously
"Are you ok?" he asked trying not to be phased by her little revelation
"Yes, just an old habit" she said then went and sat back down on the couch once more pulling her legs up to her chest "I got shot seven inches below my ribs and I died. Only a few chairs away from where I lay dead a boy was sat, when he saw me lying on the floor he ran over and knelt down next to me. He pulled my dress open and put his hand over the wound, he made me look into his eyes then all I could see where... flashes of my life then it was over. He grabbed a bottle of ketchup and broke it then poured it over the blood on my dress begging me not to saying anything before running out with his best friend"
"What... what was his name?" he asked
"Maxwell Evans" she said them smirked "To say his real name... the name he... it's just... it feels so good to hear it once more"
"What was his friend's name?"
"Michael Guerin" she said with another smile as she shook her head "After I was interregated by the Sheriff and my father I went up stairs to my room. I wiped some of the ketchup off and there was a hole, in my dress. Right where I had been shot. I pulled it off quickly and put it in my book bag then I caught sight of myself in the mirror. Max's handprint... was on my stomach and it was silver.
I was confused and a little frightened by what Max had done to me. The next day during Biology when Max went to the bathroom I took some cells of his off his pencil and ran them under the microscope. They were large and green and definitely not human. I confronted him in the bandroom after class and I told him to tell me the truth. I almost blacked out... he said he wasn't from around here then he pointed up. I thought he meant up North then he pointed higher. I looked up and laughed, he was telling me he was an alien. I freaked out and ran, that was the one and only time I got scared around him. He grabbed me before I left the bandroom and said that his life was in my hands. I'm not a... I never did anything that would end his life" he sat there listening intently as this thirty something girl told him her story. There was something abnormally terrifying about it all; the way she spoke and the consistency, it just felt real.
"My best friends demanded to know the truth after I started spending time with Max, his sister Isabel and their best friend Michael. Maria, Maria Deluca, freaked out and ran down the street screaming. Alex... oh god Alex Whitman. He didn't believe it, he said 'I believe that you believe'" she rubbed a tear away "I still get upset everytime I think about him" then suddenly she sat up and looked round. She jumped up and grabbed her jacket
"What's wrong?"
"They're coming! Quickly go out the back door! Meet me at the Lincoln Motel tomorrow at four o'clock" she said as she grabbed his recorder and thrust it at him. She grabbed him by the arm and pulled him out down the stairs, a large black van with the FBI logo was stood outside as she pushed him towards his car
"What's happening?"
"You were never here, your life depends on that fact" she said before walking off.
Part Two
"First off I want to know what the hells going on! What was with all the FBI... wait... I know you. I know you... my boss did a report on you a couple years back. The gang of terrorist from Roswell"
"We're not terrorists" announced Liz as she ran her hands down the curtains
"Yeah sure and the FBI is after you because..."
"Look Jerry... I told you. We weren't terrorists! I'm risking my life to get this story told, whether it's you or some other reporter this is the greatest story in the history of the world"
"I doubt it. I should just turn you in, you blew up that base" he said moving to the door, he opened it when it slammed shut on its on. He turned around and saw her standing there with her arm outstretched
"How did... How did you do that?"
"Sit down Jerry we have a long way to go" she said as she sat down in the comfy chair. He sat down on the couch and took out his little tape recorder and put it on the table pressing record.
"Can I - Ask you some questions?"
"Sure what do you want to know?" she replied as she pulled her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She was wearing another long sleeved sweater so he couldn't see her arms
"What happened to the others? There were more of you, do they know that you're here?" he asked and she looked down then leaned back in the chair
"I'm here because that's what they wanted. The FBI are only after me now, I'm the only one left" she looked up at him with tears shining in her eyes "This government are monsters. They came after us... they killed our children... my family" she closed her eyes as deep sadness overcame her
"They're dead?"
"Yes. All of them" she replied "I'm dead too. Before I got shot and Max Evans healed me I don't know how I lived because I can barely breathe without him now. This last thing... that he asked me to do... I'm going to make sure the world knows the truth before I can lay down and join him" Jerry felt his heart clench, it must have been awful for this girl to loose her entire family.
"An FBI agent came to Roswell a few days after the shooting, she posed as a Guidance Counsellor. She was working for the FBI Special Unit and her name was Kathleen Topolski, after we found her out she got... debriefed. They did things to her that made her crazy, she came back to try and warn us about them. She warned us and wanted to go with us when our people arrived to take us home. But we didn't trust her, we thought she was just crazy and she got taken away by the FBI. They killed her, if we had trusted her... God knows would have happened" she mumbled shaking her head "Things got worse and two people came to town to live. Tess and Ed Harding. They were both aliens; Ed, we called him Nasedo, was their protector. He was Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess's protector. Max was involved with me at the time so Nasedo wanted me gone from the picture. He kidnapped me and took me to some poky carnival. Max came after us trying to save me. Nasedo was a shapeshifter and he was posing as Max, we ran into the hall of mirrors when the Special Unit caught up with us. They grabbed what I thought was Nasedo... but it was Max. They took Max and we had to get out of there. I don't really know what they did to Max but it changed him. He was never the same again after that"
"Who was in charge of the Special Unit?"
"Agent Daniel Pierce. He had been posing as Deputy Fischer for the Sheriff's Department to get close to us" she explained "We made a plan to rescue Max. The Sheriff who had seen two Max's in the hall of mirrors offered to help. Michael and Nasedo got Max out of the white room but Nasedo got shot so it was just Michael. Valenti, Sheriff Valenti, came round the corner and shot Pierce before he could stop them. They got out of there and we split up into three cars. Max and me in Maria's Jetta, the others in the Jeep and Valenti in his car"
"Where were you going to go?" he asked leaning forward
"We were going to hide out at an abandoned mine till we figured out what to do. The others made it there but Max and me didn't, they shot at the car and we crashed into a fence and had to leave it. We raced through the fence just trying to get away from them. We made it to the next road by the bridge but they caught up with us on both sides. I couldn't let them take Max away so I pulled him to the edge of the bridge. I pulled him up onto the wall, kissed him then we jumped. We were swept downriver, I pulled him up and we hid in an old up-turned van for the night. The next morning we could hear them coming so we made a break for it. We had to run as fast as we could because they were right behind us, they would have shot at us... but Valenti and Michael pulled up in front of us. Michael blasted their engine and we escaped. After that we took out the Guards one by one till there was only Pierce left. One of the guards was at Valenti's house with his son Kyle. Max told Kyle to stay put but Kyle didn't listen. He got a gun and followed him to the UFO Centre. We captured Pierce and forced him to tell us where they took Nasedo. When we all talking Kyle crept over, thinking he was a deputy still untied him and gave him the gun. Valenti and Pierce shot it out, when Valenti was reloading he jumped out and aimed but Michael blasted him. He was dead when we checked him and Valenti saw that it was his gun. He moved some of the stuff out the way and Kyle had gotten shot too. He begged Max to heal him and he did. They were on our side after that..."
"OPEN UP THIS IS THE FBI!"
"Dammit why can't they leave me alone!" she cried "Get your things together quickly!" she ordered and Jerry grabbed his things and shoved him into his bag. She pulled him into the bathroom and opened the window looking around "Your car is over there. Get in it and drive off at a normal speed, if you see and vans slow down and pretend to look curious and interested" she said as he climbed out. She watched him go then touched her hair turning it a fierce red then climbed out the window after him and disappeared into the crowd.
Part Three
She was there already, as always, waiting for him. She had checked the room out and secured it when he arrived. She opened the door and ushered him inside then waved her hand over him to make sure he wasn't bugged
"Okay, you can sit down now" she said as she moved to the table and climbed up on it sitting cross legged. He sat down at the head of the table facing her
"There's something... I've been meaning to ask you. Since... since you told me you were an alien. Is there any way for you to prove it? What are your powers? Where do you come from?"
"Yes there is a way for me to prove. I can blast, predict the future and have telepathy and teleportation, that's why I'm still alive and the FBI haven't caught up with me and as for where I come from I'm a home grown Earthling" she chuckled "I was changed when I was healed, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Oh and their planet was called Antar" she said and he scribbled it down in his note pad then took out his little recorder and placed it between them and switched it on.
"Could you prove it for me?" he asked and she nodded. With a flash suddenly she disappeared from the table. He looked round and stood up sharply
"Cool trick right?" she asked from behind him and he jerked round
"How did you do that?"
"I just proved that I am an alien to you" she said with a smile. There was another flash and she was back on the table "Let's continue with the story" she said and he sat back down at his chair and nodded then swallowed hard
"This is... this is real isn't it?" he asked seriously
"After Max healed Kyle we had to do something with Agent Pierce's body. Max, Valenti and Michael took it out to the desert and burnt it. We rescued Nasedo from the FBI and he shapeshifted into Pierce to take down the special unit. Max and others healed him in the Pod Chamber, that's where they hatched in 1989, he left and then they activated the Orbs. They were communication devices between Earth and Antar. They got a message from their mother; she told them that Michael was the General of Antar's armies, that Isabel was his betrothed and princess on Antar. Max was Isabel's brother and King of all Antar and Tess... Tess was his young bride and Queen of Antar. After... they were destined to be together, they had a planet to save so I stepped back and let them be together"
"Where they? Did they get together?"
"No. I went to Florida for the summer and when I came back I got work in Congresswoman Whitaker's office. Tess had tried to get Max with her but he wouldn't have it, so she took the time to teach the others how to control their powers. Max and me were weary around each other but we ended up getting back together. Then... things had gotten real good, one night I was in my room and suddenly there was this bright flash. And Max was standing there, but it wasn't my Max. He was from the future, he came back and told me that the world was coming to an end and he had come back to stop that from happening. He said that he came back using a machine called the Granilith, this is very hard for me. I did what he wanted and I stopped the world from ending. I broke Max's heart and my own. Max went to Tess and things went on from there.
Max and Tess spent the night together on Prom then the next night Valenti came to us telling that there had been an accident. Alex was dead. God, we had no idea why he would... all the evidence pointed to him committing suicide but I knew he would never do that. He was murdered by an alien killer. We searched hard and I found out that he had been in Las Cruces decoding some alien book. The translation was a instruction guide for the Granilith. Tess had gotten pregnant, the four of them planned to go home to Antar. Then we found out who killed Alex. We raced to the pod chamber where the Granilith was kept but the door was shut and we couldn't get in. Michael came out and we told that it was Tess who had killed Alex. She had plotted to take them all back, give her son to their enemies and have Max, Isabel and Michael killed. Max saved his son and let her go back to Antar on her own. The next year he searched hard to find a ship so he could rescue his son. Our relationship got really rocky there. Then just when he gave up a ship crashed in the desert, it had collided with a plane and crashed just outside of Roswell. Tess and the baby was back. She practically ran all over town trying to find a safe place to hide but the Air Force caught up with her. She went to the Evans house and gave her son to Max. His parents found out that their children were aliens and helped them. Max, Tess and baby Zan went to Michael's to try and think up of a plan. I had arranged to meet Max there and when I came in and I saw her there... I just... I blasted her. Just seeing her alive when Alex was dead. I would have killed her. After a failed attempt at sneaking her out of town we all hid at Isabel's place. Oh I forgot, six months after Alex died Isabel got married to Jesse Ramirez. He was in on it as well. We all tried to get some sleep, but Tess woke me up. We had all voted to turn her in to the Air Force but I voted to save her. She asked me why I'd done that and I told her I wasn't a killer. She asked me to drive me to the Base where the ship was. I took her and she said she was going to give herself up. I asked her if she was going to let them put her in the White Room but she just got out and walked off. I must have sat there for years in Maria's Jetta then a loud explosion rocked the ground. She had destroyed the base and killed herself in the process. That was it for us, the Air Force didn't leave us alone. They wanted to know how many there was of us and who we were. They began tracking us and would have shot all of us dead on Graduation. We barely managed to get out alive. We fled and..." a loud bang on the door ceased her words. She slowly walked over to the wall and opened the door. It was pushed open by the person on the other side. Jerry saw a young ten year old girl standing there she walked into the room and Liz slammed the door shut and held her arm outstretched aimed at the young brown haired girl
"Turn around" ordered Liz, the little girl turned around and knelt down. Liz put her hand on the back of the girl's head and shot light through it. A seal lit up the dirty wall of the room
"Marie!" gasped Liz then hugged the girl close
"Mama" sobbed Marie.
"Whose that?"
"This is Michael and Maria's only child. I always have her nearby, if I get hurt she'll know it then head to Roswell" said Liz "It's time for me to go now. I've told enough today"
"No, please stay and finish the story"
"Another time! I have to go now! Marie needs me" she replied. She picked the girl up and carried her towards the back windows. The pair climbed out and hurried off into down the dark alley.

Part Four
The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The farther you take my rights away
The faster I will run
You can deny me
You can decide to turn your face away
No matter, cos there's....
Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong
The more you refuse to hear my voice
The louder I will sing
You hide behind walls of Jericho
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny my place in time
You squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine so brightly
It will blind you
Cos there's......
Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong
Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just not good enough
When we know better
Just look 'em in the eyes and say
I'm gonna do it anyway
I'm gonna do it anyway
Something inside so strong
And I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong
Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just good not enough
When we know better
Just look 'em in the eyes and say
I'm gonna do it anyway
I'm gonna do it anyway
I'm gonna do it anyway
I'm gonna do it anyway
Because there's something inside so strong
And I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me, so wrong
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong
"Where was I?"
"You said about leaving on Graduation"
"Yeah, God that's a night I never forgot" she shifted Marie on her knee before she continued "I had gotten a vision of Bryce McCain on stage doing a speech. We thought we had two weeks but on Graduation he walked on stage and we all panicked. This was it, this was our end! I looked at Max and saw how grateful he was"
"Grateful?" asked Jerry confused
"Grateful to have known me, to be my friend... to be apart of my life" she clarified then cleared her throat as her eyes glazed over "He looked back to the front then stood up. He walked onto the stage and got him to leave the stage, he used his powers and made the lights focus on him. Then we made our escape. I stood up, so did Maria and Kyle and finally Isabel as Max made his great speech about our three years. We got out of there and walked away. Max was still inside, I found out later when we all gathered in the desert and Max and Michael came tearing up on the bike. They had come in when Max was still doing his speech, Michael drove in on his bike and saved Max. We left that night, in a little van and we never came back, I miss my home. I never thought I would miss Roswell but I do" she sobbed "I just want to go home now" she wiped a tear away from her eye then cracked a smile "We travelled all over the south west, Max and I got married in a little chapel by the side of the road before we made for Canada. We lived on the border to Canada for ten years, we stayed close to there using different identities and we made a life. Michael and Maria were the only ones who had children. Marie was the only one, the rest of us... well we had decided that it would be safer to to protect our children if the FBI never got their hands on them. So we didn't have children, but we all spoilt Marie rotten. Isabel and I were mama to her as well and Max and Kyle were papa. In case anything happened to one of us, then that way she still had some parent around to keep her safe. Then ten years almost after we left Max's son contacted him. He packed his emergency travel bag up and left for New York. He promised I would see him again but I never did. They paraded Max's body all over the news and said that the FBI had finally captured one of the terrorists who cased the Roswell Base Blast in 2002. We were teriffied, and so unsure of what to do. They all looked to me since Max was.... God" she closed her eyes and took a deep breath "But I wasn't strong enough to know what to do. The one time they needed me to be strong I panicked and lost it, I was still grieving for Max when they paraded Isabel, Jesse and Kyle over the TV. They had used Jesse to contact Isabel and Isabel left, Kyle being the faithful loving friend went with her. It was only Michael, Maria, Marie and me left, we all agreed to go home. But in Oregon they caught up with us, it was a blood bath. Michael and Maria did what they could to make sure Marie and I got out. I came here to Santa Fe, they'll catch up with me soon enough and I'm not scared for myself. I'm only terrified that Marie won't get a chance"
"She needs to go to Roswell?"
"Yes, I want her to have a normal life. As normal as her parents should have got, I'm taking her to her family and to Jim Valenti, I'm sure he has powers too. Max did heal him as well, the healing always changes us. They're the last people I trust who could protect her" she hugged Marie then suddenly the door burst open. Jerry and Liz jumped up, the FBI couldn't quite see Jerry because he was hiden by the wall. Liz threw up a shield and ordered Marie to run. Marie started to cry but Liz shouted at her
"MARIE RUN!" she demanded and Marie ran past Jerry. He grabbed her and picked her up. With one last look at Liz he gathered up his gear and carried Marie out to his car.
***
"You could never leave us alone! All we wanted was to live in peace! To just exist and live our lives but you wouldn't let us! You took away everything that ever mattered to me. So now you have a real live pissed off fucking alien on your hands!" she roared angrily as her shield grew with intensity. They took out their guns and began firing at the shield but they couldn't get through. She could hear the screech of tires and glanced to see if Jerry was still there. He wasn't and neither was Marie. She closed her eyes and let her energy build in a dangerous level. It crackled around her making the air thick with electricity. They decided that they should fall back and they did in a hurry. Liz let it all explode, she fell down as her shield covered her from the violent explosion she had just caused...
Part Five
He nervously walked into the cafe. This is where it all happened, this is where it all began. He looked around and wondered where she got shot
"Jerry? Where are we?" whispered Marie she terrified as he was nervous in that place
"We're in Roswell. Your mama Liz said that she was trying to get you back here and find Jim Valenti" he replied as he pulled her toward a booth and sat her down.
"My mama's gone away hasn't she? Like the others?" asked Marie as her eyes filled with tears, poor little nine year old alien girl he thought as he looked at her. What should he tell her? What could he tell her?
"Yeah, she has" he replied. The truth was what this little girl needed, she had grown up living with parents who lied to protect her and keep her alive.
A shadow fell over the table and he looked to see a man with greying brown hair standing there with a pad ready
"Welcome to the CrashDown, I'm Jeff Parker. What'll it be?" he asked his pencil ready to write down their order. Jerry grabbed the menu and browsed it over. They hadn't eaten since they left Liz in Santa Fe
"I'll have the Antar special" he said not taking his eyes off the menu. He put the menu down and looked up at Jeff to see shock in his eyes
"Wh-what else would you like?" asked the very spooked elder man
"Do you have any milkshakes for Marie here?" he nodded at Marie and Jeff nodded "We just drove all the way down from Santa Fe. I got a few tickets speeding, I need to speak to someone about it. Know where I can go for that?"
"Sheriff's station just up the street" he said, then wrote something on his pad and handed it to him
"Thanks" he said looking it over. Then shoved it in his pocket
"Welcome" he nodded "I'll be right back with your order"
"Was that my... my grandpapa?" asked Marie and Jerry nodded.
Ten minutes later they got up and left, they walked along to the UFO Centre and went down the steps into the main part. They found Jeff standing near the alien autopsy exhibit
"Who are you?"
"My name is Jerry Adams"
"Who's she?" he asked gesturing to Marie
"Marie. I don't know her last name, she's Maria's daughter"
"Where are they others?"
"Where's Liz? We saw newsreports that the others were dead, is it true?"
"Yes. Liz was in Santa Fe, she and Marie were the last two left. They caught up with us and I took Marie, all Liz wanted was to get Marie to safety. I spent a few days with her and she told me everything, she wanted the world to know. And I swear that I will tell her story"
"Thank you" he said as tears began to fall, he reached out for Marie but she was looking round
"What is it?"
"There's someone here like me. Several people like me here" she said looking around "Them" she said pointing to a group of people all gathered near Brody and his daughter

TBC...
"Would it be okay if I ride home with you after school?"
"Sure you can ride me home... I mean ride you home..." he trailed off feeling deeply embarrassed
"I'd like that" she said feeling unlike herself, he grinned and they began working although not really paying attention. - Max & Liz in Where I Follow.

Title: Offering The Truth
Author: SpiderGirl

Summary: The truth is offered after traumatic ends.
Rating: Mature.
Couple: All CC.
Part Six
She gasped when she saw her standing there pointing at her, her group of friends and family. She felt a hand brush hers and she knew instantly that it was Michael. She gripped his hand back just as tight then her legs gave out
"Marie!" she gasped holding out her arms and the girl rushed over jumping into her warm safe arms. Michael knelt down and threw his arms around them. Kyle rushed over to the Sheriff and threw his arms around him.
Jerry stood there for a moment before walking over to Marie and putting a hand on her shoulder. The second Michael realised there was someone else there he grabbed Jerry and shoved him up against a display
"Who are you and why did you have our daughter?"
"Liz sent me" he said holding up his hands, several tourists were attracted and Max and Brody ushered them all into his office.
"Talk" Max ordered "You mentioned Liz. Where is she?"
"She... she didn't make it" he said and Max closed his eyes tight "Hey are you... you're the aliens. Max and the others right? She told me all about you"
"Who are you?" demanded Isabel
"I'm a reporter. Jerry McTierney for the New York Times, well... I'm not really a reporter. I'm a clerk trying to make it big, I got a tip on a story and decided to come on my own and I met Liz, she told me everything. The FBI were on her tail, after a few interviews she let me meet Marie and then they caught up with us. Liz put up this shield thing and told Marie to run, I was running too so I grabbed Marie and I took off. There was a big blast when I was halfway down the road. If they got her then they didn't get her alive"
"Liz isn't dead" said Max "If she died I would have felt it. Remember the time in Vermont. We can sense each other and I would have known"
"So you can still sense her?" asked Maria with hope but she just received stony silence "Max?"
"She's been quiet for some time" he replied then left the room.
"Mommy?" whispered Marie tugging on her mom's sleeve. Maria picked up Marie and held her close then walked over to Jerry
"You saved our daughter. I trust you but now your life is in danger, if you can get away I suggest you do it now and get as far away as possible" he nodded about to leave when suddenly a hand clamped around his wrist
"No" said Marie firmly "He's one of us now. He's gotta stay with us"

She lay in the debris feeling calm and content... almost like she was floating. Her clothes were tattered and torn but she couldn't seem to care, her hair was a mess and she was covered in several cuts and bruises but none of it mattered. She had created life, here as she lay in such destruction she felt the beating of a heart that wasn't her own. The child within her was strong, so strong that it had killed all the agents after her. The mother needed to survive to protect the child so the child had defended the mother. She slowly lifted herself up and saw the clear sky, it was beautiful and almost cloudless
"Are you okay?" someone asked, there were several people milling around the wreckage of what was left of the cheap motel
"I'm fine" she said as she climbed over the burnt plasterboard and charred wood and broken glass "Don't worry about it" she said and patted the man's shoulder then walked off.

Jerry was practically a kid, just out of college and no parents to speak off and now he was running for his life with a bunch of strangers who weren't even from his part of the galaxy! His cellphone buzzed and he stepped out of the office to answer it
"Hello?"
"McTierney where the hell are you! The boss is getting majorly pissed! All the mail has been piling up, the photocopier is broken and no one has their coffee"
"I can't quite talk right now I'm running for my life. You're going to have to get your own coffee I'm afraid. Goodbye!" he said then hung up then tossed his phone into the back of a passing truck then sighed.
"Who are you really?" Jerry nearly shot a foot into the air, he had no idea he wasn't by himself anymore. He threw his hand over his heart and squeezed his shirt
"Shit you scared me, Max" he said then moved to go back inside but Max blocked his way
"You didn't answer my question. Who are you? Liz would never trust a reporter so willingly, either she was really stuck or she had a reason to trust you"
"I told you who I am. I was telling the truth... I'm just some dumb press room clerk trying to make it in journalism. I don't know why I got into all this, I guess I was in the wrong place in the wrong time. It was fate... I'm not one of those... wait... Liz said something. She said that you were all killed and your bodies were all over the news. If you got killed then how the hell are you standing here?"
"Mindwarp" said Max looked back into the UFO Center at his sister and Jesse "Things were rough in Boston. Kyle, Isabel and Jesse were a close call. We've come a long way with our powers and some of us aren't proud of the things we can do. But you have to understand that we do it to survive, just like anyone else would do. We just want to live normal lives and raise children without fear of being shot dead just because we are who we are"
"I think I might be able to help you there" smirked Jerry "Liz had this idea. She wanted to tell everyone, get the truth out there"
"You mean tell everyone that aliens exist?" Max gasped "No we couldn't do that. If we tell them then there will be more people to come after us"
"Max listen to me. The public, as a whole, don't like being lied to. Do you like being lied to? Because I sure as hell don't! Now the American Government is something that has to protect the people, if the public find out that aliens do exist and not only that they knew but they've been trying to kill aliens instead of making peaceful contact then there will be uproar"
"He's onto something there" said Valenti, Max nodded quietly "But it's a big risk. You're the King, Max. What are we going to do?"
"Is there a way we could send proof to every news station?" asked Max and Jerry nodded
"What do you have in mind?" he asked with a grin.

Stanley Hopkirk looked to the Sheriff then back to the other people stood around the living room of the Evans homestead
"No" he said dramatically not believing a word he was being fed. He had a camera set up and Jerry was dressed in one of Kyle's suits with his hair slicked back ready to do the interview
"Yes!" Max, Valenti and Jerry said back
"I don't believe it. This has to be a hoax or a con or something, there is no way in hell that you expect me to believe that that guy sitting there is an alien"
"Believe it" snapped Jerry fixing his microphone on the lapel "Are we almost ready?" he asked rhetorically. Kyle was the only one with them, Maria, Maria and Michael had gone to Amy's and Jesse and Isabel had gone to Jesse's mom's house to wait for the live report.
Stan looked round the room then counted down on his hands to two then pointed to Jerry
"Hello this is Jerry McTierney reporting for Roswell Record News. A few weeks ago an suspected terrorist confessed to a reporter from the New York Times, but her story was a little abnormal that any regular terrorist. She spoke of another world, government conspiracies and cosmic assassination. Her name was Elizabeth Claudia Evans and she was a local right here in Roswell, when she was sixteen something changed her life forever. This girl was no ordinary girl, she was saved by an alien. Now that alien is with me now, his name is Max Evans and he was formerly known as King Zan" the camera spun to Max sitting there nervously
"Hello world" he said giving a little wave
"Max... is it true that you an alien from another planet?"
"Yes. In 1947 the ship I was on crashed into the desert and I've been here ever since"
"You say 1947? Wouldn't that make you older than thirty?"
"It would indeed but I, my brother and sister Michael and Isabel, were in gestation pods. We matured for about forty years and hatched in 1989 out into the desert. We were found by Diane and Phillip Evans and adopted. We have been raised pretty much like humans except we knew we were different"
"Different how?"
"Well we all have different unique abilities. I have the ability to heal people and I can put up a shield, my sister Isabel can enter a person's dream and my brother Michael is telekinetic" Michael looked confused for a moment but then realised saying 'telekinetic' sounded a lot better than saying he can make things explode with his mind.
"You used your abilities to save someone didn't you Max?"
"I've saved a lot of people with my powers. On September 17th I saved Liz Parker's... now Liz Evans... life. She was shot in the stomach and I put my hand over her and I healed her. I also was behind the Christmas Miracle in the Children's Hospital in Phoenix, that nearly killed me but all those kids. It wasn't fair that they were going to die and it was Christmas... I just couldn't let them die"
"Would you be able to give us an example of your power?" asked Jerry and Max stood up, he held out his hand and shield appeared. The camera focused in on Jerry
"This is Jerry McTierney. I will be making several more reports on the Roswell Aliens so stay tuned" he said and Stan cut the feed. His phone rang and he answered it
"Yeah Stan Hope here" he said then looked to Max "Yes sir, I'm still with Max. It was no special effect sir, when would you be able to go public with this? That soon?" he said then pointed to the TVs. Kyle flicked his wrist and the TV came on "Yes it is real. Do you want to talk to him?" Max thought Stan was going to hand the phone to him but instead he handed it to Jerry
"Hello? Yes sir this is he. What? Really? Yes... yes I'd love to! Thank you!" then he hung up "He just gave me a job. My first assignment is to cover this story" Max patted Jerry's shoulder and felt a swell of pride in him that he hadn't felt in a long time.
"This is it" said Kyle and they all turned to the TV as the Roswell Record News banner interrupted the programming. They watched as the interview played back over the local news. Jerry's new boss was going to send the report onto other stations to tip them off that they had just broken the news report of the century. Max was nervous as hell, it could only go their way now right?
