"Absolutely," I say as Kyle asks if I'm ready to eat. I can feel my excitement spiking. I try hard not to look but I find myself scanning the parking lot for Georgia liscense plates. Part of me wants to see them, 'cause it will tell me that Liz's friends are here, but I really don't want to see 'em. I'm sure Liz will recognise her friends cars far more easily than I can spot the tags.
There's nothing obvious, but I will assume they're all parked around back. Kels never called back and the others all seemed to be sorted so I'm sure they're inside.
"Hey Alex!" I say as I catch up to him and the girls. Turning I speak to Liz directly, "I hope the birthday girl is hungry 'cause I hear this place has really great food."

"That's easy" Kyle replies with a triumphant grin. "I'll take the great food. I mean, how can I have great sex when I'm feeling unwell because of horrible food? That's impossible."
Ok, darn. He answered that question way too quickly. Hmmm, I think I might have to think of a way to get him back for that one, but that will have to wait for a later time because he's already out of the car and walking over to the others.
I follow Max and as we approach he calls out to Alex and then asks the birthday girl if she's hungry because it's said they have great food here. A customer comes out of the restaurant double doors near where we're standing and I can smell the wonderful aroma of food wafting out towards us.
"Yeah, Liz, I hope you brought your apetite with you because there's going to be lots of good food and lots of dancing and cake to be had too," I add in before Liz answers.

I saunter over to the others with Max and Tess following behind me. "I heard they have some great grill plates here - the best in town." All this talking about food makes me really hungry. While I really wanna continue my talk with Tess, I guess I have to spend some time with Isabel too since she's my date tomorrow, would be kinda rude not to do that.
"Any special preferences I should know?" I ask Isabel teasingly. I somehow doubt that she wants to come back.
"That's for me to know and you to find out, Valenti." she replies with a grin. Oh a challenge, I like!
ALEX
I frown a bit when Kyle starts talking with Isabel but then turn back to Liz, offering my arm to her. It's her birthday after all, I should concentrate on her.
Spotting a car with a certain license I turn my head to Max and motion to the car with a grin. I bet he's relieved that our special guest showed up. Looks like everything is working out.
Tess asking Liz if she's hungry is great since it keeps Liz's attention on us and should make sure she doesn't notice the car.

The six of us walk in together and find that Michael and Maria have arrived just before us and are already talking to the host. Michael doesn't look happy.
"This is a private party," Michael all but growls at the man. "We're not going to share."
"Yes, for Miss Liz Parker's birthday, as you said," he confirms, looking down at his reservations list. "I assure you, sir," the restaurant host says without a hint of irony, "This table will suit you quite well."
"Is there a problem?" Tess asks.
"Yes!" Michael says spinning around. "Evans here must have really screwed up our reservations. This nozzle is insisting that we have to share the room with some other guests."
"I'm sure everything is going to be fine," I promise, giving the host a nod and a slight wink. "Why don't we go see this other group and see if we can work something out."
"Sure, they're just gonna leave 'cause YOU say so, is that it?" Michael snears, under his breath. I ignore him as the host picks up several menus and leads us through the restuarant to the 'party' room in the back.
"If the room is big enough, we should be able to share," Liz suggests, reasonably. "I'm sure there's more than one table."
I slip the host an extra 'tip' just before we arrive. He'd played his part perfectly. Everyone thinks it's just a mistake -- well, everyone except Alex.
As we step through the doors, Michael's body language is still combative while the girls look confused and a bit uncertain. I step quickly aside so Liz will immediately see the others who are 'sharing' our party room. There at the table is her father and mother, her brother and two sisters and her best friends, Lena, Kels and Dave.

When we arrive and I see Michael arguing with the host I immediately start chanting "Please don't hit him! Please don't hit him!" in my head. That would so ruin Max's surprise.
But luckily, Michael can keep his temper in check (like some other guy here who already hit someone and shall remain unnamed) and we walk to our room.
Looking at Max, I see the same look of anticipation on his face that I'm surely sporting. Isabel looks a bit strange at me and raises her eyebrow as if to ask "What's going on?" I just grin back at her, barely containing myself from hopping from one foot to the other because I'm so curious as to how Liz will react.

Sorry I haven't posted in a long while. I've been really busy of late. But I have something. Finally. And I'm also sorry that it's not better. It feels a little anticlimactic in light of the huge surprise.

We walk through the restaurant to get to our room, which we’re sharing with another group. Michael was completely opposed to the idea, but I don’t think that it would be that bad. But I could be wrong. I don’t know how big the rooms are. But few tables pushed together and all of us sitting around it doesn’t seem like it would be that bad. The cameras might make it a little awkward, but I don’t think it would be that bad to have to share a room.
Michael and Max walk in and I have a wary smile on my face at the strange looks Alex and Iz are sending each other. I don’t know what’s going on with anyone or anything anymore. Shaking my head, I pause to stop from running into Max. That’s a little strange that he just stopped walking as he got to the room. Why didn’t he just continue on to our table?
He steps to the side and I get a better look at the room. Oh, it’s definitely big enough for us to share. And the other party is only— “Oh, my god.”
My hand flew to my mouth as I practically fell into the room only to be engulfed by hugs. My family. My friends. They’re here? How did they? When did they? Who? All these questions are filling my mind and I can’t seem to ask any of them. I’m so shocked to see them that I can’t speak.
“I missed you so much,” I say to them all, trying to stop myself from crying. “I can hardly believe that you’re here!”

Sugarplum7, I don't think it was anticlimatic, Liz isn't one to make a big show of something shocking like this, so I thought it was fine

We enter the restaurant to find Michael getting into an arguement with the head server, or host guy, whatever you call him and Max and I head over to see what the problem is.
"Is there a problem?" I ask.
Michael turns on me, says that there is, and then proceeds to explain that there are some other guests already in our reserved party room. Well that's a little odd but nothing to get all steamed over. Max smoothes it out, rightly ignoring the digs Michael's making at him, and the host guy shows us the way to the back room where our party is to be held.
We reach the room and I'm smiling already in anticipation of what the room will look like and who the other guests might be, and if they'll be nice enough to maybe move to one side of the room when I hear Liz exclaim in a breathless rush, "Oh, my god." And then there are all these people hugging and kissing her, everyone beaming, and it hits me. These are Liz's parents, and the young-looking ones waiting for their turn to hug the birthday girl must be her bestfriends.
Well I'll be. Someone must have told them about our plans for Liz's birthday party... Oh. Ohhhhhhh. It was Max. And probably Alex too. That explains the odd and skittish behavior back at the house when we were all getting ready. Dude. I get a look at Liz's ecstatic face when she is able to break away from her friends' embraces for a moment to tell them how much she's missed them. He arranged all of this. I bet this was his birthday present to her. Dayum, nothin's going to top that. He must have gone to a lot of trouble to pull this off. A lot of trouble for someone he's only known a week. One normally only does things like that for people they really, really like. I turn my head and look up at his face. He is watching Liz's reaction intently, a huge grin on his face.

Tess figured it out! heehee. Does Liz know? I wondered if she might assume it was the show that put it together at first.
*Max*
"Surprise!" Liz family shouts and she rushes towards them, nearly in tears as she hugs them all.
“I missed you so much,” she says. “I can hardly believe that you’re here!”
I'm grinning from ear to ear as she goes from one friend or relative to the next. This is definately worth it! "Happy Birthday, Liz," I tell her softly as I move close to her for a moment. I'm about to suggest that we all sit down but she still looks so wound up and I don't want to rush her little reunion.
"I shall return directly, sir," the host says after laying the menus around the table. I nod my thanks to him and watch as Liz hugs everyone again.
I move a little closer to Tess and put my arm around her. "Looks like she's pretty happy," I can't help but note.

I grin when I see the family reunion. Max really found the perfect present.
"Did you arrange that?" Isabel whispers from beside me.
"No, Max did. I just helped out a little." I turn back to Max and notice that Tess is looking a bit ... off, I guess. Wonder what's going on in her mind. She doesn't look sad or anything but not really happy either. Another mystery that needs to be solved.
"It's a good thing that we have so many cameras with us since this certainly is a kodak moment." I say as I move forward a bit to stand next to Max and Tess. Who knows, maybe some spying on their conversation clues me in on why Tess doesn't look 100 % happy. Hm, maybe she's jealous because Max spent so much time planning this for someone else than her. Hmmmm ....
I know this didn't move things forward sorry

Liz's family. Well, I guess that's cool. Don't know why that knob couldn't have told us that the station had arranged something for her. Hell, maybe he didn't know. Maybe it was booked separately to surprise her. I shrug.
All this hugging and all is a bit much, ain't it? I mean, it's only been a week since she saw them, after all. And who really wants their parents at a party where they're drinkin' for the first time? I know I wouldn't want to get blasted with them sitting there watchin' like that. 'Course, I was drinking long before I was legal, so maybe it's different for her. Who knows.
"So are we gonna eat, or what?" I ask as Liz starts some intent conversation with one of her friends.
"Sure, let's all sit down," Max says, sounding very relaxed and happy about it all.
Liz's framily and friends all have pretty much one end of the table. Is this gonna be an us-versus-them thing? Well, I don't know any of them, so I guess I'll just take the far end here. "Hey, Maria. Let's sit here," I suggest, taking a seat.
Course that one girl Liz is with now is pretty hot...
