Prologue

Slowly and painfully I force my eyes open. Light suddenly clouds my vision until the outline of a narrow alleyway becomes fairly visible. Fear hits me like a ton of bricks and my body becomes paralyzed. I don’t know where I am. I rummage through my brain for the last memory; however, all I can remember is watching Roswell before I fell asleep. The mention of Roswell causes me to momentarily forget my current situation. It’s quite sad.

Roswell is a fabulous show but sometimes it can give me such a headache. My eyes turn a deep shade of red when I see Max and Tess together. He is such a prick for sleeping with Tess and impregnating her. She was the bitch who MURDERED my absolute favorite character, the sweet and lovable Alex. Everyone needs a friend like Alex. Sympathy and astonishment is all I can feel for the kind, intelligent, and doe-eyed Liz Parker. It’s amazing how she allowed that vile piece of shit, Max Evans, to walk all over her. She needed to grow a backbone. The whole situation between Max and Liz is just extremely infuriating. Kyle or Michael would have been much better for Liz. Maybe Kyle more so because Michael belongs to me. Ha! I shouldn’t kid myself. Although, it would be a dream come true if the handsome Michael Guerin was mine in real life. Man, I am way too obsessed with Roswell.

Shaking my head; I push out the thoughts of my favorite past time. Why am I even thinking about Roswell right now? I’m lying in an alley and don’t know how I got there. Okay, don’t panic just try to think about this rationally. My instincts are telling me I’m safe. But how can I be calm? This whole situation is completely bizarre and terrifying. Did someone kidnap me while I was sleeping? That’s insane. Why am I being stupid?

I try to stand up but my legs have a mind of their own and once again I’m laying on the cold hard floor. Falling on my ass doesn’t improve my mood on an already fucked up day. Looking around, I begin to realize this place looks familiar. Finally after a few minutes, I recognize it. But it can’t be. It’s not possible. This goes against all that is rational and sane. Quickly pulling myself off the ground, I run to the street ahead and come face to face with something that causes my entire body to freeze in utter shock....

It's the Crashdown Café.

Should I continue?

ñusta and Darknhauntinglove: Thank you for the FB. It made my day. :D

Chapter 1

After recovering from my state of shock; I reluctantly walk to the doors of the Crashdown Café. I need to touch something tangible because seeing doesn't allows mean believing. Just laying my hands upon the handle sends shivers down my spine. As I set into the unknown, every eye in the café focuses their attention on me. Many have a quizzical expression etched upon their face. Seems like I'm not the typical person to visit Roswell, New Mexico.

I’m about 5'5, with long dirty blonde hair, fair skin, high cheekbones, hazel eyes, full lips and a lean body. Nothing special. From my point of view, I am pretty but not gorgeous. I don’t stand out in a crowd but I’m not completely invisible. The song Hand In My Pocket by Alanis Morissette basically sums up everything about me. I’m wearing a short black skirt with a white tank top, black sandals and a jean jacket with a large Led Zeppelin patch on the back. It can't be my outfit that attracts these people. What can it be? Why are they looking at me!? Maybe it's because I don't belong here.

Looking to my right I see the gorgeous Michael Guerin and Dumbo (a.k.a Max Evans). There is no doubting that Max is good-looking but it's his character that causes me to cringe. He tells Liz he loves her but in the wake of Alex's death he gets closer to Tess instead of Liz. Then in the beginning of season three he wonders why Liz doesn't want to start a relationship with him right away. Selfish much? Actions speak louder than words and based on what Max has done in the past (hitting Michael, not trusting Liz, physically hurting Liz, threatening Isabel, sleeping with Tess, making his actions with Tess seem trivial, and always thinking about himself) I can only see a selfish, arrogant, little boy.

Sorry, thinking of Max can sometimes cause me to go off on a tangent. As I look to my left I see Beavis and Butthead. Suddenly, I realize it’s September 18th, 1999; the beginning of Roswell. How can this be? Why am I here at this precise time? In a way it kind of makes sense. I'm at the exact moment where I can change everyone's lives for the better. But what if I make things worse? I'm willing to take that chance.

Frantically I search for Liz. Seeing her and Maria talking together near the waitress station causes me to panic. It’s almost that time! The two men are getting louder and one man pulls out a gun. Why is this happening? I'm not a hero! Why doesn't Liz just drop to the floor like everyone else? But in the next few seconds, all I can think about is saving Liz. My legs are running hoping the rest of me will caught up. Maria shouts Liz’s name but to me it's barely above a whisper. My mind is consumed with the painful events that will occur in Roswell if Max heals Liz. (Sheriff Valenti’s investigate, Ms. Topolsky’s first visit, the car accident, the episode Blood Brother, the party that brings Alex into ‘I Know an Alien Club’, Michael’s near death experience, the alien hunter before Pierce, Tess and Nasedo coming to town, Deputy Fisher, the episode Max to Max, the white room, Michael killing Pierce, destiny, Future Max, Isabel killing Congresswoman Whitaker, the skins, Alex’s death, Tess and Max having sex, the baby, finding out Tess killed Alex, and all of season three.) I won't let that happen.

As my body jumps in front of Liz, I feel the bullet graze my right arm. Feeling pain is not a luxury when the body is fueled by adrenaline. We both fall to the ground hard. This is the second time today I’ve fallen on my ass. God, life sucks sometimes. “Are you okay?” I tentatively ask Liz. She answers me with a slight nod of her head and a shaky smile. Fear and shock still linger in her eyes. Then Maria pushes me out of the way and pulls Liz in a crushing grip, vowing never to let go. “Chica! You frightened me half to death! Don’t ever do that to me again!” Maria exclaimed. Once Maria started to talk she couldn’t stop. At this moment, it is impossible for me to contain my laughter.

Was it any good?

Drogyn: Thanks for the FB. I'm glad you like it so far. Just wondering, how did you get the idea that I don't like Max? Does my fic really show how much I dislike him?

RebelQueen: Your FB made my day and I totally agreed with you. But the sad thing is when I first started to watch Roswell I was a huge Dreamer fan and I absolutely hated Tess. Fortunately, now I have seen the error of my ways and I love to read fanfic were Tess is not evil and Alex is alive.

Darknhauntinglove: Your FB is always appreciated and I completely understand what you are saying. It's not weird at all. :D

Chapter 2

After a few strange looks, I begin to calm myself down. They probably think I’m insane. Who wouldn’t? A rational human being would not be laughing at a time like this. Although, why should I care? These people aren’t even real! Turning my head around to face the others, I see countless pale complexions painted across the room. Their eyes appear to be void of all emotion. What has made the once animated characters lifeless? What is happening? Why am I in this freakn’ T.V. show? Can life get any more surreal?

Off to the far left corner I see Max Evans's eyes shine with appreciation and Michael’s intense amber eyes penetrating mine for answers. What is he searching for? It’s almost like he can see right through me. “What are you doing?” I whisper to no one but myself. Before I changed everything I knew exactly what Michael was thinking but now it is a whole different story. Can things get more complicated? I quickly tear my eyes away from Michael. How can Michael and Max show emotion while the others are empty? It is because they are aliens? Or is it because I know both of these two characters inside and out? I look for Maria and Liz and they both have the same emotions on their face as before; shock, love and fear. Am I giving Maria, Liz, Max, and Michael their emotions because I know them or could it be something else entirely?

Since Maria’s excessive rambling ceased awhile ago; the room has been filled with silence. It gives me an eerie feeling. No one knows what to say. The actors have no lines to recite. They are books filled with no words. Maybe I made a mistake in changing the storyline? Don’t say that. I mustn’t doubt my every action. What’s done is done. I decide I must be the one to break the silence. “Someone should call the sheriff’s station?” I say hoping my words will pull everyone out of their stupor. Then the unexpected occurs...

The place goes absolutely chaotic. I give an inch, they take a mile. Many pull out their cellphones and quickly dial a number. Some phone their loved ones while others call the police. Shouts are carried across the café, “Is everyone okay? Did anyone get a good look at the two guys? Everything will be fine! Just stay calm.” I seem to be the only one standing still. The room begins to blur; a variety of colors are clouding my sight. A tingling sensation suddenly spreads through my body. What was that? Searching for the culprit, I begin to see the outline of a muscular body in the ray of colors. It’s Michael! Why is he pronounced while the others are obscure? Once again, I have a question I cannot answer. I will think about it later. I must look at something else. Focus!

Finally, the deputy shows up and my vision returns to normal. He unsuccessfully tries to question Maria, who by now has probably sniffed about two bottles of her cypress oil.

“Can you give me a description of the two perpetrators?” the deputy asks with no emotion.

The guy with the gun was kind of like a, like a muscular Beavis. And...the other one was like a, like a beefy Butthead.” Maria states in a dubious tone. She looks dreadfully flustered.

The deputy gradually becomes impatient with Maria and remarks, “ I’m gonna need a better description than that. I’m assuming they weren’t actually cartoons.” Hearing the deputy conversation with Maria causes me to laugh once again. Laughing is one of my favorite things to do. Life without comedy is unbearable.

My laughter begins to subside until I see Sheriff Valenti. Does he honestly believe he looks cool in his cowboy hat and boots? I see Valenti give Maria a look that could kill, inquire about Liz’s well being and then quietly converse with his deputy. Then it hits me! If I didn’t save Liz Parker’s life then Jim Valenti would have eventually lost his job during the alien chaos. Yay! Two brownie points for me! I am such an idiot!

At last, my laughter stops when Mr. Parker’s enters the café. “Lizzie! Are you okay?” Mr. Parkers exclaims. His voice is filled with many emotions; love, sorrow, fear, and joy.

“I-I’m fine dad. That girl over there saved my life. Oh my God! I’m so sorry. I haven’t even thanked you yet! Thank you! Thank you so much!” Liz replies as she points towards me. Her eyes tell me she is sincere in her apology and gratitude. Max was right about one thing; you can see Liz’s every emotion through her eyes.

My respond was, “Don’t worry. It was my pleasure.” She has no idea how much I wanted and needed to save her.

Mr. Parker now turns to me with a look of admiration. “Thank you for saving my little girl. If there is anything I could do for you just name it.” I think about it for a minute. I have no money, one pair of clean clothes, no place to stay and I have no records of ever existing. It’s not a very hard decision. “How about a job?” I ask with a large smile.

“You start tomorrow because the Crashdown will be closed for the rest of the day. I’m sorry but I didn’t catch your name.” Oh shit!! Real name or fake? I only have a few seconds!! Oh fuck it.

“My name is Jade and you are?” I don’t need to ask this question but it would be suspicious if I said I already knew his name.

“I’m Jeff Parker and this is my daughter Liz. Do you have a last name?” Jeff asks with genuine interest.

“No, just a first, You know...like Madonna and Cher?” I say in a sarcastic tone but unfortunately he doesn’t get my joke. The expression on his face is priceless. “I’m sorry, I was only kidding....it’s Rose. My last name is Rose.”

“Jade Rose. That’s an interesting name.” Jeff replies sincerely.

“I know, so is my mother.” I say and thank him with a smile.

Fiction Becomes Reality (Mostly UC) Chapter 3-5/6/05

Post by CrimsonClover629 »

RebelQueen: Thanks for the compliment on my writing. I'm really glad you're enjoying my fic. Just so you know, Tess will be good in this story.

Chapter 3

A week later...

Trying to gracefully move around the café, I see Max drooling over Liz while she takes his order. Michael and Isabel are also sitting with Max, looking extremely bored. Lately, the three aliens have come to the Crashdown more frequently. They’ve come to eat but also stay for hours talking in hush voices and stealing glances in my general area. Michael tends to gaze longer than the other two aliens. There is a God! What attracts the three aliens to the Crashdown? I know Max's reason but what about Michael and Isabel? It could be one of two reasons: First, I feel a magnetic pull every time they are near and maybe they feel it too. Secondly, I made a major slip up a couple of days ago...

*~*
September 20th, 1999

I just started to work and I was having a hard learning the ropes. I have already dropped two plates and screwed up numerous orders. Mr. P (my nickname for Jeff; he likes it because he feels “hip” when I say it to him.) has been real sweet about the whole situation. I know soon or later I will get the hang of it.

After handing a customer his meal, I see Michael and Max enter the Crashdown. Oh boy, why does Max have to see Liz every single day!? They take their usually seat over in the far left corner. Reluctantly, I walk over to the odd couple. It’s extremely hard for me to keep my hostility to a minimal when I’m around Max.

“What would you like today, Max?” Yay! I was able to show only a little bit of irritation in my voice.

“A Blood-of-Alien Smoothie.” He asks shyly.

“Okay,” I say with a fake, cheery smile. “But if you really what a Blood-of-Alien Smoothie, why don’t you just take some of your blood and mix it with fruit.” I quietly mutter to myself but then the look on Max’s face quickly turns from relaxed to complete terror. Oh shit! I guess I said it louder than I thought.

“Wha-what did you say?” he says trying to kept his fear from showing, but failing miserably.

“I-I said, ummm....what do you want Michael?” Oh no, oh no! Why can’t I keep my big mouth shut?

Michael decides to end the awkwardness, “I want an Alien Blast.” Me too, me too!

That was a close one. “Anything else? No. Okay good...I’ll be back in a few.” As I quickly scurry away from the table I hear the words, “What did I tell you, Man?”
*~*

Bringing myself back to present time; I mange to hear tidbits of Liz’s conversion with the aliens:

“What would you like, Max?”

“A Will Smith and an Alien Blast.” Max manages to say even though his mouth is filled with saliva.

“Michael?” I zone out for a couple seconds. All I can see is Michael face covered with disgust because of Max’s actions and then he looks at me and flashes a sly grin. What was that? God, it was so sexy!

“I want a Blood-of-Alien Smoothie.” Isabel says with an air of confidence and superiority. Those couples of words cause Max to break his focus on Liz and look at me. I think he remembers my comment from the the other day. Darn it! Why can’t he just for get it? Why does Max have to be so anal about everything? I look away from the aliens and focus my attention on the customer that just walked in. But I still manage to hear their conversion.

“Who’s the new girl?” Michael asks sounding a little too casual. This question surprises Liz some what.

“Umm...she’s Jade?” Liz says hesitantly. She’s uncertain if she should talk about me to others but she also doesn’t want be rude. Liz is too pure of heart. She befriends me but also gives me a place to stay until I earn enough money to find my own apartment. The whole Parker family has been unconceivably generous to me; they take me in even though they know nothing about me. I remember the morning Liz found me sleeping in the park...

*~*
September 19th, 1999; about 7:00 o’clock in the morning.

I feel a slight tug at my shoulder which cause my eyes to flutter open. Suddenly, I see compassionate eyes and silky, brown hair. It’s Liz!! Shock shoots through my body, fully waking me up. “Oh sorry...you startled me.” I say while trying to sit up on the bench.

“Did you sleep here all night?” Concern is evident in Liz’s voice.

“Yea, it’s no big deal.” I was freezing but I have no where else to go. It’s a small price I have pay for living in my favorite T.V. show.

“I would like for you to stay with me and my family.” I was about to object but she stopped me, “I won’t take no for an answer.”

Liz can be bossy when she wants to. “Okay, but only until I can afford a place of my own.”

With a smug but warm smile she replies, “Fine with me.”
*~*

“Where did she come from?” Isabel asks with interest. To Liz it seems like a simple question but to me there’s a whole different meaning behind that particularly question.

“California.....I think. I should go place your order now.” She says with friendly smile but any person can tell she's uncomfortable with the questions and Max’s staring. Liz and Kyle have gotten much closer the past few days. Without Max, Liz was able to see the wonderful man Kyle can be. The interaction between Kyle and Liz the day after the shooting is a memory I will cherish forever...

*~*
Kyle rushes through the front door searching desperately for Liz. “Liz!” It was probably eight in the morning and I was having a Tommy Lee Jones Bacon Basket before getting ready for my first day.

“Yeah, Kyle.” Liz says while coming from the door that leads to the staff room. I see her eyes light up when sees him; while Kyle’s lip curve up into a huge smile at the first sight of Liz. So sweet.

He walks to Liz and plants a small kiss upon her lips. Liz’s cheeks blush a little and then points to me. Kyle’s cheeks begin to redden as he notices me. Whispers are passed back and forth while I try to strain my ears. Why are they being so quiet? They carry on an inaudible conversation until they remember I'm in the room. By the end of their conversation, they casually walk over to the booth I’m sitting in.

“I want to thank you for saving Liz. It means a lot to me.” As he says the last part he looks at Liz with a tender smile. She happily returns the sentiment. They stare at each other until I interrupt them. “Your welcome. Saving Liz is something I could do over and over again because she is such a wonderful person.”

“I know what you mean.” Kyle proclaims. Liz has turned a deep shade red by now; she reminds of a tiny, cute tomato. I tell Kyle it was a pleasure to meet him and walk off to wash my dishes.

In the kitchen, I can see Kyle and Liz talking and holding hands. They appear to love one another a great deal. Both are completely satisfied by being in each other’s company. Liz looks far happier with Kyle than Max.

Should Liz find out about the pod squad? Her intelligence helped the aliens out time and time again. But should I destroy the normalcy Liz has in her life now, without Max Evans? I will figure it out a later time. Now is the time to treasure the peaceful moments in life; where Kyle and Liz can be together with no worries.

While Kyle focuses all of his attention on Liz, he absently rubs he thumb over her hands while she talks about...
*~*

My trip down memory lane ends when a customer yells for me. Bastard! As I walk towards the fat, balding man. I hear Michael whisper to Max, “Maybe she’s one of us? Don’t you fell the pull?” Yes! He feels it too.

“Yea, but that doesn’t mean anything.” Max replies with annoyance. What crawled up your ass Max? Michael might be right but you won’t even consider it. Ass. I know, I know. Max is right but still he should at least make an effort to see Michael's viewpoint.

I long to tell Michael that I know the truth about his alien status. What’s the worst that could happen? The aliens could freak out and fry me? That wouldn’t happen so there is nothing to be worried about. I'm going to reveal myself to them after my shift. I hope this day ends soon.

Later in that day...

As I walk along the dusty road toward Michael’s home. I wonder what I’m going to say to him. Hey, I know you’re an alien. That would go over so nicely. Ha! Who am I kidding? The other weird thing is I am going to meet Hank. The greasy, scumbag who isn’t worth a damn. The asshole who treats Michael like shit is going to be five feet away from me. How will I be able to control my hatred for him?

When I reach the dirty and rickety entrance to hell, I hesitate. Should I do this? I mustn’t be a coward. So I go for it. I knock a couple of times before Hank opens the door. He's wearing an ugly gray robe, a wife beater, and a filthy pair of boxers. Ugh! "Is Michael home?” He stares at me blankly for a few minutes until an evil grin appears on his face and he shouts, “Mickey! Get your ass out here!”

I walk inside and patiently wait for Michael. Hank has already placed himself back in his chair to watch television and drink beer. Finally Michael sluggishly strides into the living room. He back straightens out when he sees me but he doesn’t look surprised to find me here. He quickly walks over and takes my hand. A warm electrical current shoots through my entire body. He tries to lead me out of the house so Hank can't interrupt us. As we leave I hear Hank say, “Don’t forget a rubber Mickey!” Pig.

Once we are outside, Michael pulls me into a searing kiss. I‘ve never felt anything this passionate or intense. The kiss travels throughout my body and into my soul. My knees are about to give in. Then something amazing happens, I receive flashes...

*His fear of being alone in the desert and hesitation to show himself to Max and Isabel.*

*Michael running away from the trailer park after he was abused for the first time. I can feel his confusion, humiliation and most of all I can feel his pain. He wondered why he didn’t have caring parents like Max and Isabel did.*

*His love for Isabel and Max but also his annoyance with Isabel’s Nazi tendencies and Max’s constant disappointment in him.*

Then I see Me! The day I saved Liz. *I walked into the Crashdown and he felt a pull towards the entrance. He was stunned by my beauty. He can't take his eyes off of me.* That's unbelievably!

*I see more scenes of me; working, laughing with Liz, and dancing to music. I am perfect in his eyes! He assumes I'm one of his kind.* Oh, no!

*Finally I see myself soaring through space.* It's absolutely amazing!

We break the kiss because oxygen was needed. I can’t help it; tears begin to form in my eyes.

“Are you like me?” Michael asks with eagerness.

“No.” I reply; my voice is laced with sadness and joy.

“Then how do you know about me?” Michael asks with a fearful and threatening roar.

It’s the moment of truth....

Fiction Becomes Reality Chapter 4 - 5/7/05

RebelQueen: Thanks for the compliments. It brings a smile to my face. I'm really glad you like my plot. :D

Drogyn: I know! That was extremely evil of me. But I had fun doing it. I really like your new vocabularly word. Maria will be with Billy. Thanks again for the FB.

Darknhauntinglove: I am delighted to see your enjoying my fic.

Chapter 4

Stupid! Stupid! Could things get away worse? I royally screwed things up with Michael. I want to forget the past but my mind keeps rewinding it over and over again. It's the same way someone listens to a great song repeatedly. The song starts but soon you can’t tell where it begins or where it ends. The argument with Michael is all I can think about...

*~*
“Then how do you know about me?” Michael asks with a fearful and threatening roar.

“I-I....” My voices is failing on me.

“Answer Me!” Michael yells. I bet the whole trailer park can hear him.

“I can’t” I feel as pathetic as I sound. How do I say to someone I come from a different reality? He wouldn’t believe me even if I tried.

“Do mean you can’t or won’t because either way I want an answer.” Michael is beginning to lose his patience. Can I blame him?

“I just can’t, so please stop asking me.” I plead with Michael but it doesn’t seem to be working. He’s as stubborn as a mule. Knowing I can’t get through to him, I slowly start walking away. Michael grabs my arm; not painfully but with enough force to keep me from leaving. He is begging me, with his eyes, to tell the truth. “No.”

“Don’t go. I've felt something with you I’ve never experience before. You’ll lose me if you leave.” Michael’s voiced is laced with sadness, hatred and a hint of pain. How can I stay when I can’t be honest? He’ll think I’m crazy. I can’t start a relationship that shouldn’t even be possible.

“I can’t lose something I never had.” By now, my body is sprinting home. But I realize it's not my home but Liz's; by now it's impossible for me to control my tears.
*~*

When I reach the Parker residence about thirty minutes later I see Isabel waiting for me outside the door. What is she doing here?

“Jade...can we talk?” Isabel’s usual confident voice is now filled with fear and apprehension.

“About what?” I hope it’s not about Michael. Please not about Michael.

“Michael” Isabel’s whispers. Shit! My hope was thrown out the window. Here we go.

“Sure..would you like to come in?” We might as well make ourselves comfortable.

“Okay.” Isabel replies with a small smile. “I know my secret has somehow been revealed to you. Michael told me and Max about a couple of minutes ago.”

“Well he probably has also told you that I am not an alien and I won't tell you how I discovered your secret. Correct?” I say with a slight hint of annoyance.

“Basically. I’m not here to harass you Jade. Just to say, I trust you and hopefully someday you’ll trust me.” Isabel says with absolute certainty.

Wow! That was unexpected. “You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you.”

“Try me.” Eagerness is evident in Isabel’s words.

“Imagine one day everything was normal; going to school, hanging out with friends, but one morining you wake up somewhere that shouldn’t exist with nothing but the clothes on your back. Can you? Because that’s what happened to me!” By the end, I yelling at the top pf my lungs. Oh shit! Did I wake up the Parkers? No commotion. Good, everything’s good. Well, not really. I didn't tell Isabel the whole truth but a least I told her something. I know! I know! I still lied to Isabel. I feel really guilty right now.

“Jade! It’s okay, I believe you. I’m here for you.” Isabel exclaims with tenderness. Then she pulls me into a hug. She doesn’t need to be callous towards me. I allow her to be the person she is deep down.
“Thank you Jade.”

“No thank you Isabel.” Once again it’s hard for me to hold back my tears. Fortunately, they are joyful tears not painful. Isabel and I have become much closer since that night.

A couple weeks have past...

Right now I siting down reading Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, waiting for a customer to come. It’s slower during the day because school has started. I’m not attending Roswell High for two reasons: First, I have no records to give the school because I don’t exist and secondly, I’ve had enough with school. I like being a waitress in the Crashdown Café. The outfits are outrageous but I love them! The tacky sliver and green uniform and the plastic sliver antennas are my favorite things to wear nowadays.

Finally I see someone coming to the door. Oh no! It’s Michael. What do I do? What do I do? Nothing because he’s just standing outside. He looks at me with his beautiful ambers then quickly walks away. Sigh! I want, no I need to kiss Michael again.

By three o’clock, Alex, Maria and Liz come through the entrance laughing hysterically about something. Alex is so cute. He was such a sweetheart the first time I meet him. I remember he....

Liz and I were talking and having a great time after my first day on the job. We were laughing about my little 'accident'. Some jerk was trying to grope me all day. After his third try I finally got fed up. I took an order of spaghetti and causally dropped the whole plate on top of him. He yelled at me until Mr. P kicked him out. Good ole Jeff. Always the gentleman.

Our laughter is interrupted by Alex’s cry, “Liz! Where are you?”

“In the back Alex.” To me she says, “Alex is one of my best friends. You’ll love him.” Oh, I know I will.

“Hey Liz. Are you okay?” He says while giving her a hug.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Liz seems to be tried of answering the same question a million times.

“You’re my best friend. I’m always worrying about you Liz.” Alex replies. As he looks around the room he suddenly sees me and says, “Oh I’m sorry. I’m Alex as you’ve probably already hear and you are?”

“I’m Jade. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He has no idea how much.

“Likewise. I hear you saved our little Lizzie over here. Thanks!” He smiles at me while he drapes his arm around Liz. “Are you staying in Roswell long?”

“Yeah...I think so.” My voice was dubious.

“Great. We should all hang out together.” Alex replies sincerely.

“I would love too.” I couldn’t hold back my happiness.
*~*

“Hey guys! Get your cute little bottoms over here!” I shout across the café.

“Hi Jade” Liz says has she lays her school material on the table.

“Damn Girl! How heavy are those books?” I say while I shake my head. Liz works way to hard in school. She needs to relax more.

“You are sooo lucky you don’t have school!” Maria whines. “Pam Troy can be such a snob!”

“What did she do?” I ask with concern. I met her once and that girl is a bitch!

“She made up a rumor that Maria stuffs her bra because she heard that Maria called her a slut.” Alex declares. He’s having a tough time controlling his laughter.

“Well she is!” Maria shrieks.

“Maria please.” Liz implores.

“How's your music going Alex?” I say trying to change the subject.

“Great! But it’s hard being a genius sometimes. All the girls come knocking at my door.” Alex answers with a goofy grin. He’s so adorable.

“That’s cute Alex” I manage to say while laughing. Both Liz and Maria are shaking their heads.

For a few minutes we talk about gossip until I decide to get back to work and the three Musketeers begin their homework.

Isabel came over to hang out for awhile. Alex couldn’t stop drooling. It’s cute when Alex’s drools but when Max drools, it’s just disgusting. As I clean up the Crashdown after closing time, Isabel and I talked about boys. I'm trying to steer Isabel in the right direction; towards Alex.

“Are you interested in anyone Isabel?” I question.

“Not really. It’s impossible for me to have a serious relationship with someone because of my alien status.” She replies. Anyone can tell this topic brings her misery.

“Oh I don’t know about that, Alex appears to be absolutely infatuated with you and he’s such a wonderful guy.” I try to encourage Isabel to look beyond Alex’s outward appearance. He is so much more than that.

“Alex? I don’t think so. He’s kinda of a dork. Don’t you think?” Isabel was surprised by my choice.

“No. Just dreamwalk him once and you’ll see what a great man Alex is and can be.” I say with utter certainty.

“I don’t know Jade.” Gradually she begins to agree with me. Isabel is just as head strong as Max and Michael.

“Trust me.” I beg Isabel. Finally, she gives in.

“What about you and Michael?” Sympathy is pronounced in her words. I don’t want to talk about him. The topic only brings pain. He is the one thing I want the most but can’t have. If I’m unable to be completely honest with him then no relationship can be possible.

“Ummm....when is Max picking you up?” I say hoping to change the subject. Maybe I talk about it later. But right now, it’s off limits.

“Why are you changing the subject?” Because the thought of Michael brings both joy and pain. Knowing he believes that I’m beautiful but I can’t share my life with him just sucks.

“Because...” My reply is interrupted by Liz and Kyle’s abrupt presence in the Crashdown. I’m saved. Thank you lord.

“Hey Jade. Isabel.” Liz greets us with a bright smile. She is practically glowing.

“How was your date?” I asks with an enormous amount of interest.

“Perfect!” They both say at the exact same time. It’s cute in a sappy kind of way. They look into one another’s eyes and smile. Kyle then quickly pulls Liz into a passionate kiss. Their moment together is broken by Max’s murderous voice.

“Isabel you ready to go?” Max says violently. He’s ears are a dark shade of red and his eyes are black.

“Okay one second Max” Isabel can tell her brother is angry. She knows she shouldn't dilly-dally. While Kyle and Liz are off in their own corner, Isabel searches for her purse, and Max is fixated with the adorable couple; I am the only one who hears someone knocking at the door.

Knock! Knock! I look through the window and see the asshole who I spilled spaghetti on. What does he want?

“Yes? What do you want?” I clearly show my irritation with his visit.

“Revenge!” He says with an evil grin and swiftly takes out a gun.

Everything happened to fast for me to react. Then the gun goes off and I feel a sharp pain on my side. I couldn’t see which way he ran. The last thing I hear before I see darkness is Isabel scream, “Do something Max!”

Was this a good chapter?

Chapter 5 -5/8/05

Post by CrimsonClover629 »

Thanks for the FB everyone! I always appreciate it!! :D

Chapter 5

Isabel screams, “Do something Max......Please!”

Fading to black. My mind cries out: Don’t let go! Hold on! Be strong! But I can’t. My eyes are too heavy. I want to be numb, the darkness brings relief. You’re a coward! You didn’t even have time to tell Michael how you feel! What do I feel? Love, you love him! I can’t, I don’t! Yes you do, stop denying it. Fine, but there’s nothing I can do about it now. Just stay strong. Why? Someone will save you. Who?

A person is whispering to me, “Look at me Jade.” I feel pressure on my lower stomach. What’s going on? Gradually light envelopes the dark and colors replace the blackness. My mind can focus again. What’s on my stomach? A hand!? Looking up, I see a boy. No Max! He has brought me back. Max healed me! Where are we? Chairs, tables, green aliens; the Crashdown! Isabel was here...also Kyle and Liz!!! He risked exposure for me! Maybe I’ve judged Max wrongly.

Forcing myself to stand, the terrified eyes of Kyle and Liz observe my once fatal wound. Kyle’s penetrating gaze makes me uncomfortable.

“What just happen?” Kyle can barely say. His voice is hoarse and extremely dry.

“Max saved me.” I say with no hint of obscurity.

“B-But how?” Kyle’s petrified voice is multiplied by three. Liz hasn’t said a word. Not even a whisper.

“By manipulating molecular structures.” Max explains.

“That’s impossible!” Liz cries.

“Not if you’re an alien.” Isabel states. Fear surrounds Isabel’s entire being.

“Don’t be ridiculous! This isn’t a laughing matter!” Kyle shrieks. If this situation wasn’t so serious, I would be laughing right now. It’s hilarious when a boy screams like a girl.

“We’re not joking.” Both aliens mouth simultaneously.

“So...you and Max are aliens.” Liz’s question is answered with a slight nod of the head.

“Jade are you a....?” Liz asks with curiosity and apprehension.

“No.” There is no dubiety in my voice.

“This isn’t happening. I have to go” Kyle declares before walking out the front door.

“Kyle! Stop!” Liz shouts but her words are unheard. She turns and faces Max. “My whole world has been turned upside but you saved my friend’s life. I believe a thank you is in order.” Max blushes.

“You and Kyle can’t tell anyone! Our lives depend on you.” Isabel’s wall has collapsed. Her vulnerability is apparent.

“I promise.” Liz says without hesitancy. “Kyle will also understand.” Liz tries to caught up to Kyle.

I follow her until I reach the window. Liz stops Kyle before he runs to far. Their voices are low but I can still hear their conversation.

“Please don’t run away!” Liz begs.

“How can I not? I just found out that aliens exist but they are also here in Roswell!” Kyle is having a hard time keeping his voice down.

“I know but they bring peace not harm. Didn’t you see Max heal Jade?” Liz asks with sincerity.

“Yes but..” Kyle's answer is full of doubt.

“But nothing Kyle. Max saved someone even though he risked his life. We own it to him to protect his secret. You’re not alone in this Kyle. You have me. Isn’t that enough?” Liz affirms.

“Yes...I love you Liz” Kyle exclaims and embraces Liz’s open arms. I could see Liz mouth ‘I love you too’.

My attention is brought back to Max and Isabel when I hear them shout, “Jade!!”

“I’m sorry. I was a little distracted.” I hope I wasn’t rude.

“No worries. I just happy your alive. You gave me quite a scare.” Isabel utters earnestly and then quickly pulls me into a hug.

I turn toward Max, “Thank you. What you did means the world to me.” I should give Max a second chance because it this timeline he hasn’t done anything wrong. Even in the last one he did a few great things (saved Liz, helped Liz through her grandma’s death, cured sick children on Christmas Eve, and also healed Kyle and Jim).

“Your welcome.” Max murmurs.

“It’s time for us to leave. Bye Jade!” Isabel picked up on Max’s distress and decided to take matters in her own hands.

The Next Day...

Life is wonderful. The colors are brighter, the sun is shining, and everything smells delightful. I’m walking towards the Isabel’s house because we’re going shopping. Help me lord! I’m going to the mall with the shopping Nazi. As I reach the house I hear loud voices coming from Max’s room.

“How could you do it Max?” Michael yells. What is he talking about?

“What!? Was I suppose to let her die?” Max yells. Fuck! They are talking about me!!

“Now more people know about us?” Michael screams. I couldn’t take it anyone more. I want to die. Michael believes it was irresponsible for Max to heal me. What am I? Copped liver? And the day started out so well. Maybe Max should have just let me die.

When I reach the Crashdown Café I run straight to the bathroom and bawl my eyes out. As I wallow in self-pity I don’t hear Isabel walk in.

“Jade are you there?” Oh crap! Isabel’s here.

“Yeah, one second.” I forgot we were going shopping. Stupid Michael.

“I thought you were supposed to be at my house an hour ago.” Holy shit! It’s been an hour already. Boy, time flies when you’re......wait a sec. That saying doesn’t work for this situation. Don’t mind me.

“I’m sorry. I-I just needed a little time for myself.” I sob.

“What’s wrong?” Isabel’s voice can’t restrain her worry. My appearance causes Isabel to be more concerned about my well being. My eyes are red, my hair is messy, and my face is covered in tears.

“Because Michael feels Max shouldn’t have healed me!” I begin to break down again.

“Where did you get that idea?” Isabel’s asks with curiosity.

“He said so!” I wail.

“Really?” A small grin appears on her face. She doesn’t believe me!

“Well....sort of.” I whisper.

“I’m quite sure my brother wouldn’t say that.” She declares with absolute certainty.

“Are you sure?” I plead. Isabel nods. Yay! Let’s hope she’s right. I probably over-reacted. But she could be wrong.

“Did you dreamwalk Alex?” I ask wanting to get the attention off of me.

Isabel’s cheeks start to redden. Whoopee! She saw Alex’s dream.

“Why don’t I show you?” Isabel is obviously embarrassed.

*~*
Isabel’s Memory:

Isabel is walking down the school hallway, following Alex who is wearing a tuxedo. Curiosity has gotten the better of her. He walks into a class room. Isabel eagerly chases him. What is he doing?

Dream Alex calls out to, “Isabel! You there?” What!?

“I’m here Alex.” Dream Isabel shouts. She's wearing a long red dress that makes her look stunning.

Dream Alex walks over to the stereo and plays the song This Years Love by David Gray. “Dance with me?”

“I’d love too!” Dream Isabel agrees. “Why do you see me?”

“Because I can see beyond your facade. I know you’re beautiful inside as well as outside.” Dream Alex remarks. “You can show me the real you?”

Isabel can’t believe her ears. This is amazing. Maybe a relationship could be possible with Alex? A large smile is permanently glued across her face during the rest of the dream.
*~*

Isabel and I talked for a few hours until her mom called and needed her home. Once again Max stops into the Crashdown but this time it was for a different reason.

“Jade...Can we talk?” Max begs. Wow! It feels like deja vu. Weird.

“Umm...sure.” I wonder what he wants?

“I know your secret.” Max pronounces with no warning. I’m speechless.

“Well sort of.” Max continues, “How did you know Liz was going to be shot and I was going to save her? Actually don’t tell me.”

“Okay.” Brilliant Jade. Wonderful response.

“But you should tell Michael. He deserves to know.” Max proclaims. He can’t be serious. He gives me a stern look when I start to laugh. Oh, he is.

“Why? He didn’t want you to save me.” Max was about to object to my statement but I stop him, “Don’t deny it. I heard you guys arguing today.”

“If you heard the whole argument, you would have known Michael was jealous of me because I was the one to save you.” Max says then leaves me to my own thoughts. I must see Michael!

Later that night...

Once more I’m at the entrance of hell. Please don’t let Hank be home! I begin banging on the door. Knock! Knock! Someone's coming. It's Hank. Crap!

“Hello baby doll! Hank tries to being charming but obviously fails.

“Is Michael home?” I demand. No need to be nice.

“No but you can wait for him.” He smiles wickedly and then opens the door. This doesn’t feel right. Everything he says seems to have a double meaning.

“Okay...thank you.” I decide to wait for Michael. What’s the worst that could happen?

“My pleasure.” Hank says maliciously. “Why are you going out with Michael when you could have a real man like me?”

“Yea sure, you’re a real man.” I mutter.

“You bitch! I’ll show you what a real man can do!” He howls then grabs my arm furiously. I try to struggle but he’s a lot stronger than me. His grip becomes tighter each time I move.

“Let go of me! Help!!” I scream out in terror.

“Shut up whore!” Hank spits out venomously. He’s tired of my animosity.

Whack! Hank slaps me across the face. My body is paralyzed but my mind is screaming. What is he going to do? Rape me? “No!” is all I manage to say. In the next moment Hank is thrown across the room. Who’s here? Michael! His eyes are filled with hatred but when he sees me they soften. Michael saved me!

“Are you okay?” Michael’s voice is filled with fear and worry.

“Can you hold me?” I ask desperately. I just want Michael to hold me. To feel safe and loved.

“Sure but can I take you away from here?” Michael questions.

My answer is, “Please!”

Chapter 6

Next day...

In teen soap operas, why is it that everything that could possible go wrong in life does? But sometimes really amazing things can happen? For example, Michael and I were fighting, a psycho shot me and Hank tried to molest me but than Max heals me and Michael comes in the nick of time to save me. Maybe it's because people in television shows don’t think before they act. It never crossed my mind that Hank could harm me. How naive of me. With an alcoholic, scumbag like Hank anything could be possible. I should have left and seen Michael another time but I needed to be near him. He brings out emotions I never experienced before. It’s frightening but at the same time it feels right in every possible way. Thankfully, Michael has been taken away from Hank and will getting his own apartment. Oh the possibilities! Mr. Evans is setting up the paperwork for Michael’s emancipation and Mr. P has made him the new cook at the Crashdown Café. Life is lookin' pretty good right now but I have a strong feeling that the worst has yet to come. I shouldn’t think about that right now. I force myself to focus on something else. I remember yesterday night....

*~*
Michael tries to let me go but I don’t want that to happen. “No...please don’t let go!” Desperation laces my voice. When his body surrounds me, I feel protected. I’m in a little bubble, safe from the dangerous world. How could he bop my bubble? I need him.

“I will be right back. I’m going to call the police and the Parkers. Okay?” Michael says slowly. I’m not stupid but I couldn’t understand a word he just said. I trust Michael so I just give him a small smile. Why is this happening? Why me? Hank's hands are all over me again! I have to get them off! Frantically, I strike at invisible hands. “Stop touching me! Go away! Please leave me be!!” I wail hoping my words would help. I try to stop my tears from falling but it’s not working. While I was going completely insane, I didn’t see the look of pure terror on Michael’s face. He hung up the phone and ran to me.

"Shush, shush. Calm down Jade. No one’s touching you but me. Shush.” Michael tries to relax me and the moment he put his arms around me I do. My bubble is back in place. I never been this weak before. How could I let that-that asshole do this to me? He could have raped me? The pain would have been overwhelming! I could have been seriously hurt and who knows what else he would have done to me. Consumed by my grotesque thoughts, I almost missed Michael say, “I called the Parkers, they’re coming. Just hold on. You’ll be fine......I can’t believe I almost lost you. Please don’t leave me.”

“I won’t.” My voiced is choked with tears; happy ones. The Parkers come twenty minutes later. I'm still in the same position. I won’t let Michael go. Mr. P knows I'm not in any shape to answer questions. He tells Sheriff Valenti to come by the Crashdown in the morning. My heart swells with happiness because of Jeff’s consideration. People care! I hate you Hank. You’ve made me weak. How could you? You filthy piece of....Michael interrupts my thoughts when he lays a tiny kiss upon forehead. Mr. Parker is allowing Michael to stay the night. Jeff understands me; he knows I need someone to hold me tonight.
*~*

I shake my head. I mustn’t dwell on the past. Never regret yesterday, live today, and plan for tomorrow. Laughter ends my motivation speech. Maria and Liz are enjoying themselves but I can see that the alien secret is tearing Liz up inside. Liz tells Maria everything but now she has secret that can’t be spoken to anyone. Not even her best friend who been there for her for years and years. I hate to place that weight upon her shoulders but it must be done. Lucky she has Kyle to help her through the alien chaos. I also feel guilty for taking Michael away from Maria. They did have many troubles but they both truly loved each other. I hope I didn’t make a mistake. Does Michael like me more than he did Maria? I don't know but one thing I know for sure is I will never compare Michael to Max. Michael is a far better man than Max. There is no doubt in my mind. Max is sappy but Michael is real. Another person walks into the Crashdown. Alex! He’s the greatest friend a person could ever have. When Michael was down at the sheriff’s station this morning, Alex stood by my side...

*~*
Alex holds my hand as I sob. “It’s okay Jade. Everything will be taken care of.” Alex hopelessly tries to cheer me up. I can’t help but think of my family. My mother isn’t here to comfort me and my father can’t beat the shit out of Hank. I have no one who loves me! Don’t say that. You have Michael! But how do I know he loves me? By his actions. The opportunity of love improves my mood a little bit. But I still don’t have my family! I want to see my mom’s short curly hair and my father’s shiny bald head. Knowing my dad’s witty comments, my mom’s advice, and my brother’s insults can never be heard again, I cry harder.

“It’s okay, it’s okay” Alex doesn’t know what to do. He’s only known me for a month. But none the less he’s trying. How could anyone ever think of harming Alex?

“They're gone...they're gone!! Everyone who loves me is gone!” I’m rambling but who could blame me? My brother’s horrible singing, my mother’s laughter and my father’s notorious smirk is fading from my memory. No!! I have nothing that once belonged to them. They don’t exist. I shouldn’t exist.

“Who’s gone Jade?” Alex’s words are filled with concern. He desperately wants to help me.

“M-My Family!!” I scream bloody murder. There faces are erasing from my mind. Please don’t go!! Why are you leaving? I need you!

Alex’s eyes bop of his skull. I never told anyone about my family. I didn’t want to lie to them. It would only cause more trouble. “I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how you feel but I do know one thing, you’re not alone. You have me, Liz, Mr. Parker, Isabel and especially Michael. I won’t ever abandon you.” I know Alex’s words are genuine.

“Thank you Alex. Thank you.” I repeat those words over and over again. What would I do without Alex?
*~*

Isabel needs to tell Alex the truth. I hate keeping secrets from him. Now I know how Liz felt in the beginning of Roswell; it feels horrible lying to Alex. Looking around the café I see all smiling faces except for one. Wanna guess who? Max. He’s probably sulking about Liz. He needs a new obsession. It’s about time me and Maxie-boy have a little talk. I slide into his booth.

“Max stop staring at Liz. It creeps her out.” My voice is void of kindness. I don’t need to walk on eggshells around Max.

“Just leave me alone Jade. You have know idea how much...actually never mind. I don’t need to explain myself to you.” Max replies with irritation.

“What Max? How much you love her? Please! You barely know anything about her! Yes, Liz is perfect and beautiful in your eyes but you only see what you want to; Perfect Little Lizzie Parker. But you need a reality check Max. No one's perfect! Even if you saw her flaws and still loved her, she with Kyle. The person she loves!” My tone is full of sarcasm and disbelief.

“I know but...” Max tries to plead with me. It’s impossible for Max to make me see his point view on the subject of Liz.

“No buts Max. I know it is painful to confront the truth but I promise there's someone out there for you who will love you back.” I remark without skepticism because I know Tess will come soon.

“Maybe.” Max’s tone is void of enthusiasm. Why does Max have to be so stubborn. Another customer enters the Crashdown. I guess I have to get back to work.

“I know...Well speak of the devil.” I shout with excitement. Tess is the one who walked in. I’m doing a happy dance inside my head. Finally!!

“Huh?” Max’s says with confusion. Poor boy! He won’t know what hit him!

“Look over there!” I shriek. Now Max can stop mooning over Liz!

Max is stunned. He's entranced by the petit blonde. His eyes follow her every move. “Who’s that?” I knew he would forget all about Liz.

“Tess Harding. She’s new! Go talk to her” I implore. Go Max go!

“No I can’t.” Max says while blushing. What a wimp. Get some balls man!

“Fine then I will. You need to grow a pair Max.” Annoyance is clearly evident in my voice. I walk away before I can see his reaction but I can just imagine a look of utter shock on his face.

“Hey there I’m Jade. I just wanted to tell you my friend over there thinks you’re beautiful.” Tess has a bored expression until she sees who I’m talking about. Her faces lights up like a fucking Christmas tree. Yay! Things are going to be better for Tess. All I need to do is get Nasedo out of the picture. I don’t trust him to be any different this time around. He is and will always be evil.

“Really?” Astonishment laces her voice.

“Yea, why wouldn’t he? Go talk to him.” I demand. Oh that’s so adorable. Tess is blushing. I wait until Tess sits down next to Max until I get back to work.

A few minutes later...

As I’m wiping down a counter, a nervous Kyle walks in followed by Sheriff Valenti. I give Kyle a weird look but he just stares at the ground. What the hell in going on? Kyle stares at Max and mutters, “I can’t believe grandpa was right!”

“What was that son?” Valenti asks. He voiced sounded angry. What’s he mad about?

“Nothing.” Kyle declares. Why is Kyle twitching. Sheriff Valenti then focuses his attention on me.

“May I speak to you Miss Rose?” Sheriff Valenti says without a hint of emotion. It sounded strange when he called me Miss. I hope this is only about Hank. I take him to the back room.

“Are you giving my son drugs?” Anger fills his voice. What the fuck? Where did that come from?

“No sir. I have no idea where you got that assumption.” I fume. How dare he? I never touched a single drug in my life!

“Are you sure because my son has been acting different since he started hanging out with you; today he’s nervous, some days he acts completely paranoid and other times he's extremely happy.” Valenti demands for me to confess my crimes. Well bubba I’ve been telling you the truth. Asshole.

“I’m sure. Instead of accusing me, why don’t you just ask your son?” I say hoping my voice wasn’t to loud. I don’t want to attract attention.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Your uniform is...What’s that silver hand print?” Sheriff asks with interest. Oh Fuck! Why was part of my uniform open?

“Oh it’s nothing. I just painted it on yesterday, You know us weird Californians.” My voice with filled with sarcasm but if someone really listen they could hear fear. Oh shit! Now Sheriff Valenti is suspicious. I need to call a group meeting.

After closing time....

“Why are we here? I have a date to get to!” Max wines. Oh boy! That was fast.

“I called this meeting because Kyle’s dad is suspicious of me. He asked me if I was giving Kyle drugs and then he saw the silver hand print.” I express to the group with sorrow. I’m a shamed of myself. How could I let Valenti see the hand print!?

“What hand print?” Isabel asks. Her face is contorted in confusion. I lift up my shirt to show them. All of their eyes express bewilderment except for Michael’s. He saw it last night. Get your mind out of the gutter. We didn’t do anything.

“What the hell! How is that possible? What are you guys capable of!?” Kyle yells. He’s having a hard time coping.

“Relax Kyle. You need to relax. Maybe Buddha will help?” I smirk but no one finds it funny. Maybe it’s just me. Oh well.

“To answer your question: we all can manipulate molecular structures but we also have individual powers: Max can heal, I can dreamwalk and Michael can blow things up.” Isabel replies in a casual manner with a hint of irritation.

“Could you give us a demonstration?” Liz requests. Her scientific mind seeks answers.

They all agree. Michael lifts his hand and blows up a cup. Max moves his hand over the broken pieces and repairs the cup. Kyle is speechless and Liz is amazed. No one saw the extra person in the room.

“What the hell was that? Are you guys doing witchcraft because that’s-that’s just wrong....What going on? Please someone answer me!!” Maria rambles.

“Stop Maria. Just relax!” Liz begs. Liz’s amazement has turned to terror.

“Don’t tell me to relax. I just saw something that couldn’t be possible! How is it possible?” Maria demands.

The three aliens look at one another and simultaneously reply, “Because we’re aliens.”

Maria looks at all of us to see if we’re joking before she faints.

Chapter 7- 5/15/05

Post by CrimsonClover629 »

Thanks everyone for the FB. Always appreciate it.

Drogyn: I read my answer to your question again; What the fuck did I say!? I'm sorry. What I was basically trying to say was: Tess came earlier than expected because I wanted her too.
Not everything has to make sense; that's the freedom you have as a writer.

I agree with you but I won't have any readers if I don't make sense. No one wants to read surrealist mumbo jumbo.

Chapter 7

Why did Maria have to be here at the exact moment the aliens demonstration their powers? Why? Is it karma? Because I don’t remember doing anything horrible wrong. Or is just plain bad luck? Either way it fucking sucks. Maria isn’t known for being rational and calm. How will she react this time? To many questions that I have no answers for. Everyone has been impatiently waiting for Maria to wake up. I wonder what she going to say....

Liz tries to wake Maria but it's a no go. I wonder if they should try pouring water on her head. I might just suggest it, “Hey guys I know it’s fun and all to shake Maria like a magic eight ball but why don’t you try splashing some water on her face.” Kyle takes my suggestion with far too much eagerness. He fills a whole cup and dumps it all on Maria. Poor, poor girl. At least it got the product done.

“Oh My God! W-What did you do that for mom?” Maria shrieks. Oh no, she thinks she’s home; safe and protected. Should I blame her? No.

“Maria, it was Liz.” Kyle shouts. Geez Kyle, Maria’s confused not deaf. And why did you say it was Liz huh? Wimp! I guess he doesn’t want to face Hurricane De Luca! I can’t help but smirk to myself. Michael looks at me strangely. I mouth, "I tell you later."

“Why are you here Liz? What time is it?...Wait, what is Michael, Jade, Max, and Isabel doing in my house?” Maria utters each word in confusion. Here it comes.....

“It’s about 8:30 PM and ummmm... you’re at the Crashdown, Maria.” Liz declares with a hint of woe.

“What!?” Maria’s eyes express her astonishment. Then something inside her head flips a switch; her eye’s are now filled with horror. “It can’t be true! It can’t! It just can’t....” She says repeatedly while shaking her head.

“Maria! It’s okay. Everythings fine. Don’t worry.” Liz pleads for Maria to come back to reality. Her hopes are ignored.

“I have to leave. I can't handle this.” These were the last words the gang heard Maria speak before she ran out the door followed by Liz. The weird thing is....Before she ditched our fun little party, she passed me an accusing glance. What was that for?

“That went well.” I pronounce with sarcasm. The Michael and Isabel give me an exasperated look, while Kyle tries to burn a hole through my head. I’m forced to retaliate, “Geez, don’t get all postal on me now. I was just trying to lighten the mood.” Thankfully, my words seem to relieve some of the tension in the room. But Michael is still pacing back and forth. I think it’s time for me and Michael to be alone.

As I walk toward the lovable Guerin I whisper in his ear, “Do you want to leave?” He nods yes.

“Isabel, Michael and I are going to head out. Is that okay?”

“Sure. Just call me tomorrow.” she says while pulling me into a hug; then she shoves Michael and I out the door. I get to ride Michael’s motorcycle! He was able to find a run-down one in the junk yard and restore it to brand new with his alien powers. He hands me a pink helmet. Why pink? I guess Michael doesn’t know me well enough to realize I'm not like most girl. I despise the color pink. Why does pink get it’s own name? It just a lighter shade of red. Light green, light yellow, and light blue don’t have their own name. I force myself to shake off my irritations with the color pink and put on the helmet.

Michael patiently waits for me to get on his bike. I’m going to be really close to him. Yippie! As I try to situate myself on the bike I wrap my arms around his waist. I must remind myself not to go below the waist but I wouldn’t want to cause an accident. As the engine begins to roar, I shake with anticipation. I’ve never been on a motorcycle! My thoughts are cut as Michael’s bike gathers momentum. I feel open and free. Unfortunately we arrive at Michael’s apartment in less than two minutes. Michael stays silent until we reach the inside.

“Too many people know my secret!” Michael yells. Calm down Sparky.

“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine!” I try unsuccessfully to soothe Michael. He’s worried Maria is going to crack and reveal his secret. I hope he’s wrong. Who knows what Maria will do this time? She almost told Sheriff Valenti the truth before.

“You don’t know that!” He screams.

“Yes I do!” I shout louder. How can I tell Michael everything’s fine when I don’t even believe my own words?

“What!? You can see the future?” Michael spats. He’s starting to take his anger out on me. I won’t stand for that shit. I’m not a punching bag.

“No but my gut instincts are telling me everything will be fine.” My words are filled with complete confidence. It shocks me.

“Oh great. That makes everything so much better. What makes you believe your instincts aren’t wrong?” Sarcasm fills his voice.

“Go to hell!” I cry before running to the door. How dare he! What am I? Only a good shoulder rest? If he doesn’t feel my advice is worthy than why am I standing here?

“Wait! Don’t go it’s just.....hard for me to trust someone. But I really want to trust you. Please, just give me another chance.” His words melt my heart. At least it’s close to an apology.

“I guess but next time I will have to throw your ass on the curb.” I reply in a joking manner. “Why don’t we spend our time doing things we enjoy.”

“Like what?” He replies with a grin. Dirty, dirty boy! A wick grin also spreads across my face.

“Kissing. Do you object?” I ask seductively

“Not a chance,” was Michael’s cheeky response.

“Good because I......” My words are cut off my Michael’s beautiful lips. To describe this passionate embrace, imagine eating your favorite dessert with tabasco sauce; sweet and spicy. Never thought I would like them both at the same time but now it’s delicious and intense. I spend the rest of the night at Michael’s!

Next Morning...

It was difficult to leave Michael this morning so I could discuss the Hank incident with Valenti. I hate Hank! I never really thought I could despise someone as much him. My irritation with Max couldn’t hold a flame to the disgust I feel towards Hank. Ugh! Why does Sheriff Valenti have to talk to me? It’s probably only going to be about me supposedly giving his son drugs. Please! How could I even find drugs let alone sell them in Roswell, New Mexico!

Walking into the desolate station, I see one deputy filling papers and another reading the newspaper. It’s amazing how nothing happens in Roswell but in L.A. everything you can possibly imagine happens at least twice a day. Small towns, man. Nothing exciting occurs! It could a blessing or a curse. Depends on how you look at it.

“Sir, is it possible for me to see the Sheriff?” I politely ask the deputy reading the newspaper.

“Not right this second miss, I do believe he’s in with someone.” He answers with a dopey smile. What’s gotten in to him?

“Okay, thanks” I reply with a small smile. I sit down on the bench closest to Valenti’s office. I faintly hear voices. Valenti's voice is prominent but I can't recognize the other person. The voice sounds awfully familiar. All I know for sure is that it belongs to a woman.

“I don’t know how to say this, Sheriff.” I hear the unknown women speak. Damn, who is it? I know this person.

“It’s okay Maria. Just tell me what’s on your mind.” Jim says calmly. Holy Shit!!! I can’t...I just can’t believe Maria is here! Not even twenty-four hours after she found out. I wonder if Liz talked to her. Who cares about that right now. What I really need to do is interrupt their conversation. And I do precisely that. The deputy shouts for me to stop but I brush him off. “Hey Sheriff, did you want to talk to me?” I look at Maria and give her the evil eye. Maria shrinks in her seat.

“Hello Miss Rose. Yes I do but you must wait a couple of minutes because I am talking to Miss De Luca right now.” Sheriff remarks. Is there irritation in his voice? Well I’m certainly not one bit sorry for my actions.

“No I think we were finished, Sheriff.” Maria says timidly. What? Little ole me made Maria wet her pants? Good!! Why does Maria have to be such a bitch. She’s sort of like Max in a way; selfish. Sometimes Maria is fun and likable but at this moment she’s not even close to being tolerable. Being obsessed with Roswell allows me to see the faults in each character and the only one who seemed to be almost perfect was Alex and he was killed. Ironic, isn’t it?

“No Maria. You were about to tell me something important.” Valenti’s words cause Maria to sink further into the chair. Busted!

“I think Maria looks tired. Maybe I should take her home.” I say with a fake smile. Anyone can tell I’m angry; my eyes are completely black. What is wrong with Maria? Doesn’t she know her actions affect others!? “We could do this another time....Actually, I feel there is no need for us to talk at a later time. I guess I’ll see you around Jim.” I emphasize the last word before I grab Maria’s left arm and pull her out the door. Valenti is speechless. Yay! Brownie points for me!

Once we reach Maria’s car I growl, “What the hell were you doing in there?”

“The right thing!” Maria shouts. Her voice magically reappears.

“And you think sending three innocent teenagers to their deaths is right?” I reply with astonishment. Maria has a deranged thinking process.

“They’re not human!” Maria cries. But they still have feelings! They shed tears when someone dies, blood flows through their veins, they scream when in pain. You can’t treat someone like shit just because they're different. Prejudice is a despicable trait of humans.

“Grow up, Maria! If you told Sheriff Valenti that Max, Isabel, and Michael were aliens, what do you think would happen to them? They would be taken to the white room; where they would be tortured and killed. Do you want their deaths on your conscious? Max and Isabel have parents who love them. What would your mother do if you disappeared? They’ve done nothing wrong. How could you betray someone who’s crime is saving someone’s life, my life!” I rant. My annoyance and disgust with Maria came out all at once. I almost got through to her but once I mention my name, she turns cold again.

“This is all your fault!” Maria shrieks. What the fuck! Is Maria on drugs? Fucking idiot!!

“Give me a break! If I wasn’t here Liz would have been shot! Mostly likely the wound would have been fatal but Max would have stepped in and saved her!” Maria was about to object but I stopped her, “Don’t tell me you haven’t seen Max moon over Liz. He would have healed her and you would’ve be in this alien chaos much sooner. I don’t have to take this shit! Bye, Maria.” I scream. It was impossible for me to contain my anger. How dare she!! My Fault! Maria doesn’t know anything! I save her less heartache and most importantly her dreams. If I didn’t save Liz’s life, Maria wouldn’t have been able to pursue her singing career. She would have been on the road wasting away after she graduated high school. Ungrateful little Bitch! I know, I know. Maria knows nothing about my sacrifice but it stills stings when she blames me for her troubles. I’m going to be one big fucking ray of sunshine at work today. Can’t wait!!

After Closing.....

“Have you asked Alex out yet?” I ask Isabel; sounding a little too eager. As I try to get every juicy detail out of Isabel, Michael shakes his head while he cleans the kitchen. It’s been great having Michael around all of the time. I get to stare at his face all day, while he stares at my ass. We have a normal girl-boy relationship. No man is perfect. You just have to find a man who’s good traits out weight his bad ones.

“Yes” Isabel replies shyly. Finally!! Alex is perfect for Isabel. Alex is perfect for any women but most don’t appreciate him as boyfriend material because they have someone like Michael at their side. Like moi. Alex can only be a brother to me when I have the gorgeous Michael Guerin.

“Of course he said yes!” My words cause Isabel to blush. So adorable! “Are you going to tell him your secret?” I nag. Please let her say yes!! I had to do much begging and convincing for Michael to even allow Isabel to consider telling Alex. Luckily, Michael can never say no to me!

“Yes! I told him to come over tonight!” Isabel murmurs. I thank my lucky stars! Sadly, our conversation is interrupted by Max’s abrupt entrance. I’m surprised he didn’t use his big ears to fly in.

“Max, Dumbo called and says he needs his ears back!” Isabel giggles but Max appears to be unaffected by my words. Something must be seriously wrong.

“Tess is a-a....” Max murmurs. He is visibly shaken up about Tess. He’s found out. About freakin’ time.

“Tess is what? Spit it out Max.” Isabel voice is filled with hostility. She as been more impatient with Max lately. She been hanging out with me too much. I’m beginning to rub off on her. This could be good.

“An alien!” Max exclaims. Really!? I didn’t know that! What a surprise! I wonder how Isabel and Michael will react to this new development. Not any better. Michael freezes in utter shock and Isabel’s eye pop out of her head. Oh boy! I need to fix things before Alex comes by.
