Dreams of Glass
"I'm proud of you, son," Phillip Evans intoned, clapping his son's shoulder. "Making the dean's list your freshman year at Harvard is quite a feat. So what will it be? A Porche? A Benz?"
Nineteen year old Max Evans grinned. "Actually Isabel and I were thinking about seeing the world this summer."
"Just the two of you?" Phillip asked, brow raised.
"Well, we were thinking of asking Tess, Kyle and Alex along," Max admitted.
Phillip chuckled. "I should have known. You kids tend to do everything together. What about Pamela? Not taking your girlfriend along?"
Max frowned, an angry glint in his amber eyes, running a frustrated hand through his dark brown hair. "Actually, getting away from her for the summer was one of the reasons we decided on the trip. Pam has been pushing pretty hard lately for a proposal."
Max thought back to the night before. He had taken Pam out for an expensive dinner at a newly opened French restaurant. Pam had been the perfect date, as usual. No one could ever accuse Pam Troy of being anything less than perfect at anything she did. The problem was, Pam's perfection was only skin deep. Max had come to see her for who she truly was, a conniving gold digger. Pam wasn't with him because she loved him, she was with him because she loved his money. And she was obsessed with becoming his very wealthy wife. A fact she'd made abundantly clear over desert.
Phillip nodded. "Then it sounds like a vacation is just what the doctor ordered." He chuckled at his little joke. "Enjoy your summer, Son. You've earned it."
Max grinned and headed off to tell his sister the trip was a go. He was looking forward to a few weeks of leisurely fun with his sister and their closest friends.

"Aloha," the woman greeted warmly, a smile gracing her worn and weathered face. She placed a brightly colored lei around his neck and Max could barely tamp down the growing excitement. Here he was, on the beautiful island of Hawaii, with its sandy beaches and warm inviting waters with his sister and closest friends.
Max slid his arm around Isabel's shoulders, squeezing lightly. He was so glad to have his sister with him on this trip. He couldn't imagine exploring the world without her by his side. Being twins, he and Isabel had done everything together growing up, from potty training to learning to ride bikes, to both going to Harvard, he to study medicine, Isabel to study law.
"This is going to be the best summer ever, Is," he promised, leading the group into the resort to check in. Max released his sister into her fiance's arms.
"I know it will, Max," Isabel agreed enthusiastically, soaking in the sights around them as they entered the resort, her eyes squinting as they adjusted to the darker interior.
Max glanced around the room slowly, taking in the extravagant furnishings. He chuckled to himself, watching his oldest and closest friend, Kyle Valenti, flop down into a floral print chair. Reaching the counter, Max turned his attention to the primly dressed woman. "Reservation for Evan," he informed her cheerfully.
The woman typed his name into the computer and smiled, handing him several key cards. "You are in Cabanas 23 and 24," she informed him. "Out the back door, down the right path."
Max accepted the key cards. "Thank you," he answered, turning to the group. His eyes fell on Alex's cousin, Tess Harding. The petite blond was definitely easy on the eyes, but Max was completely unmoved by her beauty. He also wasn't fooled for a moment. Isabel was behind the girl's presence on this trip. His twin was trying to play matchmaker.
Max knew that Isabel didn't approve of Pam. Hell, Max was beginning to agree with her. Pam Troy was nothing but a money hungry gold digger. But it grated on his nerves that his sister thought she could set him up with a complete stranger. He was more than capable of finding his own girlfriend.
Max bit back an aggravated sigh as Tess latched onto his arm as they walked down the path toward the cabanas they would occupy during their weeklong stay at the resort."So, Max. Isabel says that you're studying to become a doctor?" the bubbly blond stated excitedly. "I think it's great that you want to do something so noble."
Max nodded absently. "Yeah, well.....I love kids so.....becoming a pediatrician just seems like the right thing to do." He shrugged, coming to a stop outside the first of the two cabanas. "This is you, I believe." Tess raised onto her tiptoes, kissing his cheek, and Max forced a smile to his lips before he quickly moved away. "I'll.......see you later." Handing her two card keys, he walked away, making a mental note to kill Isabel later.
Coming up to the second cabana Max saw that Alex and Kyle were already waiting for him. He tossed a pass key to Kyle and followed him inside. Dropping the bags on the floor, Max took in the room. wide screen tv, couch, chairs, a large kitchenette area and 4 doors opening off the living area. Max guessed those would lead to the bedrooms and bathroom. "You guys want to get ready and find a beach?"
"I think Isabel wants to find the nearest mall," Alex answered, only half teasing. Isabel really was a shopaholic. "Why don't we just tag along to keep the girls happy and we can hit the beach after?" he suggested.
Max sighed and nodded. If they didn't agree to follow the girls to the mall, they'd never hear the end of it. He was used to playing caddy on Izzy's many shopping excursions. He knew from experience that she could spend hours going from boutique to boutique and practically buy them all out on a single shopping trip, leaving Max to carry a mountain of shopping bags in her wake.
"Kyle, man, do me a huge favor?" Max asked hopefully.
"Sure, Bro. What's up?" Kyle answered.
"Could you maybe.....keep Tess too busy to bother with me?" He really didn't want to continue to deal with the girl. But he knew better than to incur Isabel's wrath by spurning the girl outright. Maybe if he could get her interested in Kyle, he could be free to really enjoy himself. Max had no aversion to finding a girl to take his mind off Pam. He just wanted to be free to find her for himself.
Kyle grinned wolfishly. "I'd love to, Bro. Man, that girl is stacked. Consider her claimed," he smirked. Max just laughed at his friend.
"Enjoy," he offered. "Just don't do anything that's gonna get us on Izzy's bad side. I do not want a rampaging sister on this vacation."
"No worries, Bro," Kyle assured him. "I'll keep the blond bombshell very busy and Isabel won't be able to say a word."
Max, Alex and Kyle met back up with Isabel and Tess in front of the resort. "Hey, guys," Isabel called. "Let's find the closest mall." Alex rolled his eyes at Max as they hailed a taxi.
Tess pressed herself up against Max in the taxi and Max did his best to ignore her blatant advances. He looked to Kyle for help and Kyle smirked, nodding slightly. "So, Tess, you're Alex's cousin, huh?" he asked, breaking the awkward silence in the back seat.
Tess turned annoyed eyes on Kyle before turning back to Max. "So, Max, Alex says you're studying to become a world famous doctor?" She pressed herself closer, wanting to make an unforgettable impression on him. It was all she could do to keep from drooling. They just didn't make them like Max Evans. The man just oozed charisma. And the thought of being with a doctor......
She had been hesitant when Isabel had invited her along on this vacation. But her first glimpse of the luscious Max Evans had convinced her she'd made the right choice in agreeing to go. And of all the luck! Isabel was trying to play matchmaker between Max and herself. Which was just fine with her! Lord, but the man was sexy. She most definitely wanted to get to know him better.
Kyle could see Max's discomfort, watching him squirm in his seat, and took pity on him. "So, Tess. Tell me all about your gorgeous self," he suggested. Yep, she sure was a sight to behold. And he was eager to get to know her better. Much better.
Tess ignored Kyle completely. "So tell me, Max. What do you like to do for fun?"
Max glared at the back of his sister's head and sighed softly. He seriously wanted to strangle her for bringing this annoying, clinging girl along on what was supposed to have been a relaxing vacation for him. She was even worse than Pam if that was possible.
Max had never been happier in his life to see a mall as he was then. He quickly disentangled himself from Tess and strode toward the shopping complex, determined to lose himself before the girls could recruit him into following them around like a mindless zombie. He knew Isabel would get even later but at the moment all Max wanted was to get as far away from Tess Harding as possible.
Max just barely bit back an oath when Tess quickly snatched his arm, chirping incessantly in his ear. "You haven't answered my question, Max. What do you like to do for fun?" Personally, I enjoy just about anything. Isabel says you and your girlfriend are......" Max tuned her out, in an attempt to save his sanity. Couldn't the girl take a hint?
Excusing himself, he stomped over to Isabel, grabbing her arm and dragging her away from the group. "Isabel," he growled. "Call her off or you'll be finishing this trip without me!"
"Max, relax. Tess is a very sweet girl. And a definite step up from Pam Troy," she countered blithely. "You just have to give her a chance."
"I do not need my sister picking my dates for me, Isabel. I'm serious. Call her off or I'll just fly home and you can all enjoy the world without me!" he hissed, his anger rising at his sister's unrepentant attitude.
"I'll take care of it, Max," Isabel sighed, giving in. "I'll let her know you're not interested. But you're making a really big mistake, little brother. Tess would be a great catch."
"You are only 2 minutes older than me, Isabel. And if she's such a great catch, let some other sucker have her. I'll find my own girlfriends, Isabel." Max stared at her sternly, arms folded over his chest.
"Yeah, because you made such a wonderful choice with Pam Troy," Isabel retorted, amused. "That girl is sooo much better than Tess, huh?" She smirked, daring him to respond.
Max just glared at his twin, fuming silently. Why couldn't he just once be able to relax and simply enjoy himself? Was he being selfish, wanting to unwind for a few weeks? And what made his sister think she had the right to interfere in his life? He growled in frustration and stalked off, ignoring Isabel's calls for him to come back, striding into the mall and letting the crowds swallow him up. If he wasn't going to be allowed to relax on this vacation then he'd just grab a few hours of peace wherever he could find it.
Finding himself standing outside the food court, Max chose a table in the back corner and sat down heavily. He sat back, letting his mind blank out. It felt so good not to worry about anything for a change. He was so accustomed to carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
".....to get to New Zealand, Michael. When are we supposed to hook up again?" Max glanced over at the petite blond babbling to a tall man with spiky brown hair and absently wondered if anyone had ever bothered to introduce the man to the wonders of a comb.
"Will you please relax, Maria? We're hooking up with Liz the beginning of August," the man answered. Max found himself eavesdropping without really meaning to. He watched the couple as they got into the line at the pizza counter.
"This is a really big deal, Michael!" the woman retorted. "You talk about Liz all the time. And I'm finally going to meet her. That's a very big deal!"
The man snorted. "Maria, breathe. It's not a big deal at all. It's just Liz. It's not like meeting her is the end of the world," he smirked. Max grinned when he saw the woman's body tense up before she exploded.
"NO BIG DEAL? Michael, you talk about her ALL the TIME! How can you say this isn't a big deal? What if she doesn't like me? You put so much stock in everything Liz says and does! How am I supposed to compete with that???" Max found himself actually feeling sorry for the guy as he physically cringed under her verbal attack, his eyes darting nervously to all the attention her outburst had drawn to them.
"Maria, she's gonna love you. You just gotta trust me. She doesn't bite, I promise." The woman didn't look at all convinced as the guy tugged her into a tense hug. "Come on, 'Ria. Please relax. I know Liz is gonna love you as much as I do."
The woman huffed as she relaxed slightly. "She better, Michael. Because I'm not letting her break us up," she informed him haughtily.
"Maria, I wouldn't break up with you even if Liz didn't like you," Michael answered, and seeing her face start to fall, he quickly added, "but she will, so it doesn't even matter."
The woman just glared at him silently as they stepped up to the counter and ordered. Max watched the man pull out his wallet to pay for the food and noticed something fall out and flutter to the floor. "Tell you what, Maria. We'll go out to that club tonight and I'll give her a call. You can talk to her. You'll see that she's not some scary monster looking to break us up," he teased.
"Which club?" she asked, huffing slightly.
"Pele's," he answered in a coaxing tone.
"Well.....I do want to check the club out," she conceded reluctantly.
Max watched them walk away with their food and stood, walking over to pick up the scrab of paper they'd dropped. Turning it over, he sucked in a breath, gazing down at the picture of the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen.
Who was she? Max turned to scan the food court for the couple, but they were nowhere to be seen. Max found himself desperate to know who the girl was. He needed to find that couple. He needed to know more about the girl in the picture. Pele's. They'd be there tonight. And Max decided then and there that he'd be there too.

Thanks to everyone for their warm feedback. Please keep it coming... There won't be an update Saturday since it's Christmas so the next update will be next Wed. Now on with the story...
"Max! Come back here! MAX!!!" Isabel huffed as she watched her brother storm off. She looked to the others apologetically and shrugged. "Shall we start shopping?" she asked, linking her arm with Alex's.
Tess stared after Max's retreating form, confusion shining brightly in her eyes. She'd never had this much trouble seducing a guy before. She turned, frowning, when Kyle linked his arm with hers and half dragged her after Alex and Isabel.
She pulled away from Kyle, rushing over to Isabel. "What's going on, Izzy? Why did Max stomp off?" she pouted softly.
Isabel sighed. "He doesn't like his sister playing matchmaker," she answered reluctantly. "Listen, Tess. Just.......give Max some space. Take it a little slower. My brother is already dating a pushy girl. He's looking for the opposite now. Switch your tactics, play hard to get. I think it will work a lot better for you." There was no way Isabel was going to give up on her plans to get Pam out of his life. She'd just adjust her plan, be more subtle. She smiled to Tess as they entered the first boutique, a scowling Kyle following behind.
"Oh, Tess! This one would look great on you," Isabel said excitedly, holding up a pale blue sundress. "This one will definitely take my brother's breath away." She handed the garment to Tess, who accepted it eagerly, heading straight for the dressing room.
Quickly changing into the dress, she examined herself in the mirror. The color brought out her eyes, and she smiled brightly at how perfectly it molded to her curves. Oh yeah, she thought. Max won't be able to resist me in this. She smiled wider at the thought of seducing Max Evans into her bed.
Kyle watched the girls shop sullenly, his eyes following every move Tess made. Why couldn't she see what was right in front of her? Max wanted nothing to do with her while he, Kyle Valenti, was her perfect match. He sighed deeply. Why did girls always have to do things the hard way? He looked down at the mountain of clothing piled in his arms. And why was he sitting here playing caddy for a girl who obviously wanted nothing to do with him? Let her carry her own damn clothes. He tossed them onto the chair next to him and stood, heading for the nearest exit. He'd find himself a nice sporting goods shop to while away the hours until they could move on to more relaxing pursuits.
Maria Deluca dragged a scowling Michael Guerin into the boutique. "I told you Michael. If we're going to Pele's tonight, I need a new dress," she explained impatiently. "Unlike some people," she eyed him pointedly, "I care about appearances." She pulled him farther into the shop, heading toward the evening dresses.
Ignoring his frustrated growl, she began to rifle through the multitude of brightly colored gowns, determined to find the perfect dress for her. Pulling several prospects from the racks, Maria headed toward the dressing rooms. She noticed a cute blond and grinned at the dress she was critiquing in the mirror. "Wow! That dress was made for you," she offered cheerfully.
Tess turned to her, grinning brightly. "Thanks!" she returned. "I just hope he thinks so."
Maria laughed. "I know what you mean. Michael is such a pain when it comes to fashion. His idea of dressing up is wearing the one clean pair of jeans in his closet." She rolled her eyes.
Tess laughed. "Tess Harding," she introduced, offering her hand.
Maria shook her hand warmly. "Maria Deluca. The guy out there with the spiky hair and the permanant scowl on his face is Michael Guerin. So where's your guy?" she asked, glancing curiously around the shop.
"Well.......he's not mine.....yet. But he will be," Tess admitted, grinning at the other woman.
"Well, if you wear that, he'd have to be dead to resist you," Maria said with a grin.
Tess beamed. "Then I guess this is what I'll be wearing at the beach this afternoon."
"Do you have any plans for tonight?" Maria asked suddenly.
"Umm, not that I know of. Why?" Tess asked.
"Tess, I found you another prospect," Isabel called out, walking over and handing a lavender sundress to the shorter woman.
"Maria Deluca, this is Isabel Evan. Isabel, this is Maria Deluca," Tess introduced.
"If you guys don't have any plans for tonight, Michael and I are going to this hot new club called Pele's," Maria offered.
"That sounds like fun," Tess piped in, excitement bubbling up inside her. "But that means I need to find another dress for tonight." She looked to Isabel.
"Sounds good. Why don't the three of us find the perfect gowns together?" she suggested. Tess and Maria quickly agreed and the three girls spent the rest of the morning trying on and discarding dress after dress before each finally found the perfect garment, to the eventual relief of Alex and Michael.
"Maria, if you and Michael don't have any plans this afternoon, we're staying at the Iolana resort. You guys wanna come spend the day on a private beach?" Isabel offered eagerly.
"That would be great, Isabel. Thank you," Maria accepted. "What time should we get there?"
"Why don't Tess and I meet you in the lobby around one? That way we can soak in plenty of sun before our big night," she suggested.
At a few minutes before one, Tess and Isabel were sitting in the lobby, waiting for Maria and Michael to arrive. "I'm telling you Tess, when Max sees you in that skimpy bikini he's going to be drooling," Isabel told the girl. "What guy wouldn't be salivating over a gorgeous girl wearing practically nothing?" she teased.
Tess giggled and rolled her eyes. "The only guy I care about is Max. No one else's opinion matters."
Isabel rolled her eyes. "You are so pathetic," she teased. "Max is not that special."
"Not that special?!? Isabel, your brother is a sex god," Tess retorted. "He's like......the perfect male."
"Michael, it's not the end of the world! And besides, we'll be seeing her in person in a few weeks. You can get a dozen new pictures of her then," Maria stated firmly as she dragged Michael into the lobby of the resort. "Tess and Isabel were kind enough to invite us to spend the day at a private beach and we are not going to be late just because you lost one stupid picture!"
"Dammit, Maria, that picture is not replacable! We took that picture right after our first jump. So stop acting like losing it is no big deal," Michael growled angrily.
"God, Michael! Listen to yourself. You can't stop talking about her for two lousy minutes! It's always Liz did this! Liz did that! Liz, Liz, Liz! Well, I'm sick of it, Michael! I'm tired of hearing how wonderful Liz Parker is! If you love her so much then why are you with me?" Maria's face was beet red and her body stiff. Then, suddenly, she collapsed into a chair, crying loudly.
Tess and Isabel, having been frozen during Maria's outburst, were both moving quickly to her side as she began to cry.
"Maria, what happened?" Tess asked, concerned.
Isabel rubbed the sobbing girl's shoulders gently in silent comfort. She turned an angry glare at the sullen, scowling man who'd reduced her new friend to tears, then turned her back on him, concentrating on the girl. "Maria, whatever that idiot did........it's not worth your tears," she offered softly. "No guy is ever worth your tears."
Tess and Isabel helped Maria to her feet and half dragged the reluctant girl out of the lobby and away from the male in question, leaving Michael to growl and follow. The girls reached their cabana and led Maria in, slamming the door in a startled Michael's face. Maria sat heavily in a chair, wiping at the tears rolling down her flushed cheeks.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Isabel asked softly.
Maria sniffled and looked up at the taller woman. "He loves her more than me," she whispered, fresh tears filling her eyes.
"Loves who?" Tess asked.
"L...Liz," Maria continued. "He's always going on about how wonderful she is. He never talks about me that way. Why can't he love me that much?" She broke down into a fresh round of trembling sobs.
"Liz?" Isabel asked curiously.
"Liz Parker. He's....He's known her for years. She's the one who got him hooked. How am I supposed to compete against that?" she wailed.
"Wait, hooked?" Isabel repeated. "Wait. The hair, those grungy clothes....Maria, look, you can do so much better than some scruffy druggie. Please tell me you aren't crying over some loser addict."
"Wh..what? Drugs? UGH! Michael's not on drugs.....God! He....he's an adreneline junkie," she sobbed. "How am I supposed to compete against Liz? That girl can do anything! I'll never be able to do half the things she can do!"
Isabel shook her head slightly, trying to understand. "Umm, Maria? What exactly is an....adreneline junkie?"
Maria waved her hand distractedly. "You know.....bungie jumping, parachuting, that kinda thing. Liz got him hooked years ago.....they spend every summer together, doing every kinda thrill they can fit in. And now Michael wants me to meet her. God! She's gonna tell him I'm not good enough for him and he'll listen! He'll leave me when she tells him to!"
"Maria, this is a good thing," Tess interrupted softly. "Michael really likes this Liz right? He trusts her?" Maria nodded. "Well, then Michael must love you a lot to want you to meet her," she continued. "If this Liz means as much to him as you say..." She watched Maria's face, glad to see a watery smile grace the girl's lips as her tears slowly stopped.
"Maria do you still want to spend some time on the beach?" Isabel asked warmly.
"Ye.....yeah, I'd like that," Maria answered softly. "I better go find Michael......." She moved to the door.
Michael stared at the slamming down with a deep scowl before turning and stomping away angrily. Could this day get any worse? he wondered morosely. He gets into yet another "Liz" fight with Maria at the mall, he loses his favorite picture of Liz, he's dragged off to spend the day at a beach with a bunch of females, and now he gets a door slammed in his face.
With a fierce growl, he turned and strode toward the bar, yanking his cell phone out of his pocket, quickly dialing a familiar number, and listening to it ring impatiently.
"Talk to me," came a very familiar voice.
"Is that how you greet your closest friends these days, Parker?" he asked, amused.
"Only you, Guerin," she teased. "Where are you, Michael? And what did the drama queen do this time?"
"What makes you think Maria did anything?" he asked with a frown.
"Because only another 'Liz is the root of all evil' tirade from this infamous Maria would have you calling me in the middle of the semi finals of the current surfing competition," she jabbed. "So what is it this time? Did I kill her dog? Burn down her house?"
Michael sighed. "She terrified you're gonna hate her and tell me to get rid of her." He shocked to hear her laughter assail his ears.
"Michael, I love you. You know that. But I really could care less about your love life," she smirked. "So tell the little drama queen she has nothing at all to worry about. Unless she hurts you. Then I'll hunt her down and kill her. Slowly." she teased.
Michael chuckled softly, then sobered. "Liz, that isn't the real reason I called. I um.....Liz, I lost the picture," he admitted reluctantly. He frowned when he heard her startled gasp. "I didn't mean to, Liz," he inserted quickly.
"Michael?"
"Yeah?"
"You called, and are babbling on in the middle of my semi finals, because you lost my picture?" she asked, sounding extremely amused. "God, Guerin, no wonder the little drama queen is so worried."
"Maria's all pissed at me again because I made such a big deal about it," he sighed.
"Well, I guess I can understand that," Liz admitted grudgingly. "But don't expect me to go easy on her," she continued, teasing him again. "I'm gonna have to live up to her image of me."
Michael groaned. "Please tell me you're only kidding."
More of her soft tinkling laughter. "What would be the fun in that, Michael? I'm up, Guerin. I gotta go. Call ya when I win," she said hastily just before the sound of the dial tone assailed his ears.
Moving quickly away from the boutique, Kyle went in search of something to occupy his time. A grin lifted his lips when he bumped into Max, who was just leaving the food court. "Bro! Let's find a cab and get the hell outta here," he suggested hopefully.
Max looked up and nodded absently. He followed Kyle out of the mall, sneaking peeks at the picture in his hand, his smile reaching his eyes as he drank in the beauty of wide expressive doe eyes and long chocolate tresses. Following Kyle into the cab, he sat back, lost in fantasies of somehow meeting an angel whose name he didn't even know.
He looked up in surprise when he found himself at the beach, and looked to Kyle questioningly. "Lighten up, Bro. We're in Hawaii. What better way to enjoy a weekend while the women are engrossed in spending our parents' hard earned money?" he grinned.
"I would have expected you to be working on Tess," Max admitted.
Kyle scowled. "Yeah, about that. Sorry, Bro, but that chick's got a one track mind. She's determined to win you, Max."
"She can't," Max answered softly, sneaking another peek at his angel. "My heart is taken."
"Oh, please, Bro. We all know you don't love Pam Troy," Kyle scoffed.
The boys settled down on the sand, Kyle's gaze roaming the throngs, searching for the prettiest girl in sight to exude his irresistible charm on, Max laying back, eyes closed, trying to come up with a plan to meet his mystery girl. He had to go to that club tonight, he found to find that guy. Then he had to find out more about her somehow.
"You're really gonna let that gorgeous girl hit on you and turn you down?" Kyle eyed Max silently for a few moments, before teasing, "Bro, you're not like....gay are you?"
Max choked, glaring up his friend. "No, Kyle, I'm not gay. I'm just not interested in a girl who would throw herself at a guy just because he comes from a rich family. I'm already dating one of those; I have no interest in getting involved with another one."
Kyle watched his friend lay there silently for a few moments before getting up and wandering off to find a girl to get lucky with. He chuckled to himself at the number of girls who flirted with him as he moved down the beach. He'd never had any trouble finding girls. Not until Tess Harding, he thought, a frown replacing the smile on his lips. What was wrong with that girl? How could she resist the famous Valenti charm?
Max watched Kyle out of the corner of his eye, chuckling to himself. His friend always seemed to have some new girl on his arm. Whereas his only wish was to find his soul mate. He knew she was out there, and maybe now he even knew what she looked like, he mused, rubbing his thumb over the faded snapshot in his palm. Closing his eyes, he let his mind blank out, taking a much needed break from his worries.
Max sat in the cabana, picking at the sandwich he'd ordered, his stomach knotting as his thoughts wandered to the night ahead. What could he say to get this stranger to tell him about the girl in the picture without sounding a like deranged stalker? He couldn't afford to blow this. He had to come up with a foolproof plan. Failure just wasn't an option.
His nerves were rattled as he met the rest of the group in the lobby later that evening, no real plan in his mind. He would just have to wing it, and pray he didn't completely blow it. He was surprised to find himself actually looking forward to meeting the stranger from the mall.
He scowled silently when Tess attached herself to his arm and carefully disentangled himself, climbing into the cab and practically yanking Isabel in next to him. "I thought you were going to talk to her," he hissed impatiently. "I wasn't kidding, Isabel. If that girl doesn't leave me the hell alone, I'm out of here tomorrow."
"Just relax, Max. I'll talk to her again," Isabel answered. "Just don't go doing anything stupid, ok?"
Max glared at her silently for a moment, then turned away, ignoring the group for the entire ride to the club. He'd been surprised but glad to learn that the girls had been invited to the club by the same couple he was looking for. It would make things so much easier. But at the moment he was beyond annoyed. All he wanted was to get to the club and talk to this Michael. He didn't want the nuisance of a clingy blond to deal with all night.
Max entered the club eagerly, avoiding Tess's annoying advances. Moving straight to the bar, Max slowly scanned the crowd, looking for the couple he'd seen at the mall. Ordering a beer, Max turned his attention to the task at hand.
Tess finally spotted Max sitting at the bar and moved in that direction. She wasn't about to give up an opportunity to sway him to her. No guy had ever been immune to her considerable charms, and Max Evans wouldn't be the first. He may be playing hard to get, but she welcomed the challenge. And she knew she'd win in the end.
Reaching the bar she hopped onto the stool beside him, claiming his arm and smiled coyly. "Want to dance, Max?" she asked, smiling up at him.
Max frowned. "No thank you, Tess. Why don't you go dance with Kyle? I know he'd be glad to dance with you if you asked him."
Now it was Tess's turn to frown. He was denying her again? What was wrong with him? How could he reject her so easily? Gritting her teeth, she strengthened her resolve. "I don't want to dance with Kyle, Max. I want to dance with you," she answered sweetly.
"Look, Tess. You seem like a great person, but I'm not interested ok? Do us both a favor and find someone else." Max sighed, not wanting to hurt her feelings, but needing to make her understand he wasn't interested and never would be.
Tess frowned deeply. "I don't want anyone else, Max," she retorted angrily. Leaning in, she crushed her lips against his insistently. If he wouldn't hear her words, she'd just have to show him.
Max froze in shock for a moment, before pushing her away forcefully, nearly shoving her off her stool. "Are you deaf, Tess?!? I told you I'm not interested! Stay away from me; just leave me the hell alone!" Jumping off the stool, he stormed away, losing himself in the throngs of dancers.
Tess sat there, stunned by his unexpected response. How dare he blow her off?!? How could he dismiss her so easily? She knew men couldn't resist her. No man ever turned away her advances before. Hell, they usually fell all over themselves to accept her attention. What made Max Evans so damn special? she wondered in frustration.
Isabel stood paralyzed, unable to believe what she'd just witnessed. Hadn't she told Tess to tone things down? How could she practically attack Max that way. She'd just ruined everything! And if her idiotic behavior made Max follow through on his threat, she'd personally strangle the stupid blond.
Alex turned her to face him. "I told you playing matchmaker would blow up in your face," he reminded her softly. Isabel sighed and nodded reluctantly. "You need to let your brother make his own decisions, Izzy."
"I know, Alex......but he needs to find someone better than Pam Troy," she answered in frustration.
"Then let him decide that for himself. You can't live his life for him, Isabel, any more than he can live yours for you." Pressing a kiss to her forehead, Alex led his fiance out to the dance floor.
Max slipped out the front door of the club, gazing around the parking lot for a glimpse of the people he was looking for. Not seeing them, he leaned back against the wall of the building, prepared to wait all night if necessary. He pulled the picture from his pocket, gazing at the doe eyed angel, enraptured once again by her beauty.
He wasn't sure how long he stood there, lost in the mystery girl's image, when he heard a familiar whining voice fill the air. "They're probably already waiting for us, Michael! Why can't you ever be on time?" Maria complained.
Michael rolled his eyes, following her across the parking lot toward the entrance. "We're not late, Maria. It's not like there's a deadline," he retorted shortly.
"Don't you take that tone with me, Michael," Maria huffed.
Michael rolled his eyes but stayed silent as they reached the doors. Maria slipped inside and Michael was about to follow when Max reached out and gripped his arm. Michael turned an impatient scowl Max's way. "Can I help you?" he bit out.
"Actually, I'm hoping we can help each other," Max answered nervously. "I found something I think belongs to you." He held out the picture.
Michael took it hesitantly and a huge grin curled his lips as he recognized what it was. "Man, I don't know who you are, or how you knew to find me here, but I owe you big time for this!"
Max grinned. "I saw you and your girlfriend at the food court at the mall this morning. I saw the picture fall out of your wallet but you were gone before I could return it to you. It was lucky I'd overheard you say you'd be here tonight."
"I owe you big for coming here to return it to me. That picture is irreplaceable."
"She's beautiful. Who is she?" Max asked hopefully.
Michael glanced his way, smirking slightly. "Forget it, man. You don't stand a chance with her. Liz doesn't have time for dating."
"Liz?" Max echoed softly.
Michael laughed loudly. "You've got it bad, huh? Tell ya what. Are you into extreme sports?"
"Extreme sports?" Max asked.
"You know, bungee jumping, parachuting, that kinda thing," Michael elaborated.
"Um, I've never tried anything like that," Max admitted.
"Liz lives and breathes this stuff. If you want her to even give you the time of day you need to get into it, too. Tell ya what. Since you returned the picture, I'll do ya a favor in return. Tomorrow morning I'll take you bungee jumping," Michael offered.
"Bu...bungee jumping?" Max croaked.
"Yeah, Bro. Hey, I'm Michael, by the way. Michael Guerin."
"Yeah, I uh...I know....Your girlfriend Maria made friends with my sister Isabel and her friend Tess," Max explained.
Michael rolled his eyes. "The two blonds?"
"Yeah. Isabel is the taller one. Tess is her fiance's cousin," he explained.
"Maria seems to really like them. Why don't you all come tomorrow? Maybe you'll decide you all get a kick out of it," Michael suggested.
Max pondered silently for a moment before agreeing. "Sure, but I can't promise any of the others will participate. I can't even promise that I will," Max admitted. He definitely wanted to meet this Liz, but the thought of jumping off a bridge with nothing but an elastic strap attached to his ankles scared the crap outta him.
"Michael, what are you doing?" came a familiar voice. "Isabel and Tess are waiting for us inside."
"Maria, meet Isabel's brother, Max," Michael introduced. "And you'll never believe this, Maria. Max was at the food court at the mall this morning. He found the picture I lost."
Maria arched a brow. "Talk about coincidences. Nice to meet you Max. I'm Maria Deluca and you've obviously already met the big lug here. Don't mind him too much. He's not used to socializing with humans."
Max stifled his laughter as Michael scowled silently at the petite girl. It was quite obvious that he was used to her putdowns. Max shook his head in amusment as the girl scampered back inside.
"I think I'll take you up on your offer," Max said. "In fact, I wouldn't miss it for the world." Michael rolled his eyes and nodded. The two men headed into the club, talking quietly, finalizing their plans for the next day.
thanks to everyone who left fb so far. Please keep it coming. My muse seems to work better the more we recieve. Go figure lol
Tess stomped off toward the dance floor. If that fool wanted to play hard to get, fine. She could play it so much better than anyone. She'd just make him jealous. Whatever it took to get her way. IF throwing herself at him didn't work, she'd just change tactics.
She threw an annoyed glance Kyle's way when he caught her arm, tugging her close, then changed her mind and smiled coyly, nodding slightly as they danced together. If she was going to make Max jealous, who better than his best friend to flirt with?
He was dreaming. He had to be dreaming. What other explaination was there for the fact that Tess Harding was dancing in his arms? Well, if this really is a dream, he thought to him self, I never want to wake up.
She was easily the sexiest girl in the club. If Max thought Kyle was doing him a favor by claiming Tess's attention, he needed Serious professional help. Max definitely had a skewed view of the opposite sex. And Kyle was more than happy to take advantage of the hand he'd been dealt.
Maria dragged a reluctant Michael onto the dance floor. She knew her surly boyfriend hated dancing, crowds, but she really didn't care. He offered to bring her here and she wasn't about to pass up the opportunity by his squeamishness. He could grumble all he wanted as long as she got her way.
Max let out a relieved sigh at seeing Kyle dancing with Tess, and moved quickly to the bar, turning his attention to Michael and Maria. He smirked to himself as he watched them interact on the crowded dance floor. It was obvious by Michael's stiff movements that he didn't want to be out there.
Maria swayed to the music, pressing ever closer to Michael as she moved. She knew she was dancing with the hottest guy in the club right now and she was proud of that knowledge. He annoyed her endlessly, but she wouldn't give him up for anything. He was hers, and she would do whatever it took to keep him. Liz Parker better not even think of moving in on her turf, she thought. A smiled curved her lips as she pressed closer, pressing her lips to his briefly before tilting her heated gaze to catch his eyes.
"You were right, baby. This club is hot!" Her arms slid around his neck, her smile widening when his own arms slid around her waist, holding her closer. Maria's hands glided over his shoulders, relishing the tremor that shuddered through him beneath her questing fingers. She reveled in the proof of the power her touch held over him.
Michael's restless hands gliding up and down her sides as she moved to the beat of the current song. Maria Deluca drove him crazy with her drama queen personality, but he wouldn't give her up for anything. She was his, and his alone, and he would cheerfully kill any fool who so much as looked at her wrong.
"Maria, baby, you'll never guess what happened," he shouted over the music. Maria gazed up at him curiously. "I got my picture back!" he informed her happily. "Some guy saw it fall out of my wallet at the mall and returned it." Michael frowned, puzzled, when Maria went stiff in his arms. "Maria, baby, what's wrong? This is good news." He watched the scowl replace the smile on her face and gaped in disbelief when she bolted from the dance floor.
Max blinked, watching the drama unfold. He'd been jealous, watching Michael and Maria dance together like they belonged in each other's arms, wishing that he could be the one dancing with his soul mate, dancing like they were the only two people in the world. Then suddenly Maria had bolted from the dance floor like the hounds of hell were nipping at her heels. He watched the petite blond pushing her way through the club, making a beeline toward him. He couldn't help wondering what Michael had said or done to piss the girl off so quickly.
Maria reached the bar and ordered a drink, blinking back the threatening tears glistening in her eyes. Why? she wondered morosely. Why did he always have to ruin everything between them? Couldn't he forget Liz Parker for one damn night?!?
"Are you all right?" Max asked, concerned. He'd seen the tears in her eyes and he wondered again what Michael had done.
Maria glanced over at Max, annoyed at the stranger's audacity. How dare some idiot male speak to her? "I'm just great," she spat out angrily. "Why shouldn't I be? Michael's so happy cuz he got his damn picture back!"
Max blinked. It was obvious that Maria was beyond pissed. "Want to talk about it?" he offered. It was dawning on him what must have happened. Michael and Maria had been dancing, obviously sharing a romantic moment and Michael had ruined it by mentioning that Max had returned the picture to him.
Maria glared at Max suspiciously. "Why would I want to talk to a complete stranger about my love life?"
Max shrugged. "Well, I'm a good listener. Plus we're not complete strangers. I believe you invited my sister here tonight. Isabel Evans?"
Maria relaxed slightly. "Isabel didn't mention a brother," she said.
"Yeah, well, the only guy Isabel even notices is Alex," Max answered, coaxing a soft laugh. He grinned. "Those two only have eyes for each other."
Maria scowled again. "She's lucky then. Michael can't go five minutes without talking about Perfect Liz Parker." Max couldn't keep a goofy grin from curling his lips at the mere mention of her name. A reaction that didn't go unnoticed by Maria. "Oh god, not you too. Is there any guy who's not obsessed with her?" she shouted, nearing hysterics.
"Look, Maria. You've got it all wrong," Max told her. "I spoke to Michael earlier, when I gave him back his picture and-" Max blinked, staring up at Maria's retreating form from the floor, rubbing at his throbbing jaw.
Maria stalked away from the bar, making a beeline for the front door, rubbing her throbbing hand, wondering idly if she'd broken her knuckles when she'd punched him. God, she hated men! It wasn't bad enough that Michael wanted Liz Parker, now it was Isabel's brother who ruined her night by sticking his nose in where it didn't belong!
Michael chased after Maria when he was her leaving the club and shoved his way through the crowds til he reached the door. He stalked after her, across the parking lot. "Damn it, Maria," he growled, warpping his arms around her waist and tugging her back against him. He barely registered her movement when she spun around and punched him in the nose, causing him to stumble and release his hold on her.
The furious girl didn't even spare a look behind her as she threw herself into a cab and directed him to her hotel. Michael watched in disbelief as the cab drove away, carrying Maria away from him. What the hell had he done this time? Why was she always overreacting? But, as exasperating as she was, he couldn't keep the proud smirk off his face. His girl definitely had a killer right hook. Donning his helmet, Michael climbed onto his bike, and sped out of the parking lot.
Kyle ran his fingers over hers arms, eliciting a slight shudder as Tess tried in vain to remain immune to his obvious charms. Max, she told herself silently. You want Max. She barely stifled a moan when she felt Kyle nibbling at her neck as their bodies ground together to the music. Her fingers tangled in his hair as she held him there, her head tilting to the side to give her better access, her knees tembling when he quickly took what she'd offered, suckling at her pulse point.
"Let's go somewhere less public," Kyle whispered huskily in her ear. Tess blinked up at him, dazed, unable to muster resistance to his offer as he tugged her toward the rest rooms. Kyle tugged the men's room door open and pulled Tess in with him before locking the door behind them.
Wasting no time, Kyle tugged her into his arms, crushing his lips to hers. Tess wrapped her arms around his neck, struggling to remain upright as his tongue pushed past her lips to dance with hers.
She moaned softly at the feeling of Kyle's tongue caressing hers. What was he doing to her? Oh god! she thought as he cupped her breasts kneading roughly. A loud moan escaped her lips as her back arched, pushing her breasts against his hands, her fingers tangling in his hair. Kyle smirked at the sound of her pleasure, his lips nibbling hungrily at her throat, fingers molding her plump flesh eagerly.
Their lips collided in a hungry kiss, tongues dueling for dominance. Kyle's hands slid down to cup the firm globes of her bottom, squeezing lightly, his hips grinding against hers. Tess gasped softly, her hips rolling, meeting his thrusts, waves of desire coursing through her.
Her arms wrapped around his neck, her body plastered to his, as they devoured each other's mouths. "I want you, baby," Kyle growled, tugging on her shirt.
*knock knock*
Kyle groaned loudly, glaring toward the door. "Go away!"
"C'mon, man. Other people gotta go too, ya know."
Tess came to her senses at the interruption and pulled away, tugging her clothes back into place, pawing at her hair. Looking into the mirror, she groaned at her ravaged reflection. She cursed herself for so completely losing control. She wanted to make Max jealous, not make out with Kyle Valenti. She tossed Kyle an icy glare and stormed out, past the startled drunk waiting to use the john, Kyle following hot on her heels.
Max left the club early, intending to be well rested when he met up with Michael in the morning. He tried to keep the butterflies from getting out of control on the ride back to the resort. He made his way down the path to his bungalow, letting himself into the darkened room and flopped onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about the day to come, until sleep finally found him and carried him off.
just popping in to show off the wonderful banner for Dreams of Glass. Thanks Darce, you're the best! There will definitely be an update this wednesday. Thanks for your continued support and see you all again soon.

Max bolted upright in bed, fumbling for the phone. " 'lo?" he mumbled sleepily.
"Max, where are you guys?????? Michael and Maria are here and we're apparently going on some BUNGEE JUMPING adventure you never bothered to tell us about?!?" Isabel screeched hysterically.
He blinked as Isabel's ranting sunk in and suddenly jumped out of bed, yelling for Kyle and Alex as he checked the clock.
5:00am!
It was so early....too early.
Kyle and Alex stumbled from their rooms. "What's the big emergency bro?" Kyle asked irritably.
Max sighed, knowing this wasn't going to go over well. "We're going with Michael and Maria. Just get dressed guys. Everyone's waiting for us in the lobby."
The guys donned clothes between low grumbles. "Why the hell do we have to be up so early though, Max?" Alex asked as they left the cabana.
"I dunno. I guess Michael likes to start early," Max grunted. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea though, he thought to himself. He might be more willing to participate if he wasn't completely awake.
Reaching the lobby a short time later, Max was immediately assaulted by his hysterical sister. "Max," she hissed. "Are you insane?!? Bungee Jumping? Tell me Michael's got it wrong. Tell me you didn't agree to jump off a bridge."
"It could be fun, Isabel," he offered weakly, cringing under her withering glare. "Just give it a chance."
"There is no way I'm going to do anything so insane, Max Evans, and neither are you, so you can just forget about it. Now, go tell him you changed your mind," she demanded.
"You don't have to come, Isabel. I understand. I'll see you later," Max answered, heading toward Michael and Maria.
"So what's up with the princess, Max? She gonna ruin this for everyone?" Michael smirked.
"Let's just go," Max answered vaguely, following the couple as they moved toward the doors. Climbing into Michael's car, Max was stunned speechless when the rest of the group piled in after him.
"I'm never going to forgive you for this, Max," Isabel hissed angrily as she settled in next to him.
"So where are we going, Michael?" Max asked as they pulled out onto the highway.
"All will be revealed in due time, Maxwell," Michael answered cryptically.
Max sat back with a frustrated sigh, his thoughts turning to what was coming. He, Max Evans, was planning to jump off a bridge........attached to nothing but a flimsy cord. Oh God, he thought, his heartbeat quickening. Isabel's right, I am insane.
Max was nearly hyperventilating by the time Michael pulled the car to a stop on the side of the road, just a few feet from a suspension bridge. He could hear the roaring of the water from the car, and he closed his eyes, trying to calm his racing heart.
His thoughts turned to the dark haired angel who'd somehow stolen his common sense. How could he even be thinking of doing this? Over a girl he'd never even met? He really needed to have his head examined.
Ok, Max, you've come to your senses. Now you just have to back out gracefully. Can't have Michael thinking you're a wuss. Not if you still want him to introduce you to Liz. Yeah, Liz. The girl Michael said wouldn't give him the time of day if he wasn't into this whole extreme sports thing. Go ahead, Max, back out. Give up your one chance of meeting Liz Parker.
Stifling a groan, Max forced himself to climb out of the car, staring at the bridge before them. Forcing one foot in front of the other, he walked slowly, stiffly toward Michael and Maria, who were setting things up in the center of the bridge. Swaying slightly as a wave of nausea swept through him, Max stepped up to the side of the bridge and glanced over the side.
He barely registered the death grip he had on the railing in front of him as he clenched his eyes shut tightly, willing the lightheaded spinning to end. Sweat formed on his brow as he tried to remember to breathe. He'd always been deathly afraid of heights. How could he possibly have thought he could do this?
Max concentrated on making his mind go blank, pushing out the activity going on around him. The picture that had started him on this crazy path flashed in his mind and he focused all his concentration on the image of the girl that had stolen his sanity. He drowned in wide doe eyes, imagining running his fingers through silky chocolate tresses, gliding over petal soft skin.
"MAX!"
He blinked, his surroundings coming back into focus, and found himself hanging onto the side of the bridge, staring down......down........down........at the dark waters far below. Swallowing thickly, he turned, intent on informing Michael that he couldn't do this after all, thank you very much. He'd just take his chances with Liz without the whole extreme sports deal.
"Haven't got all day, Bro," Michael smirked, giving Max a small shove. Max let out a startled cry as he fell away from the bridge. Down, down, down he went, his breath stolen as he fell farther and farther from his sister, his friends. Closer and closer the water came, filling his vision. And suddenly, as if by magic, his terror dissolved. He was flying. Calm washed over and through him, filling every inch of him. Complete peace. He spread his arms, a smile curving his lips as the adrenaline coursed through his veins. His fingertips brushed the water before he was jerked back upward, a laugh bursting out as he realized that he'd done it. And he'd survived. And, he realized, he wanted, needed, to do it again.
Releasing the clasps holding him in the harness, Max dropped into the ice cold water with a loud splash. Michael began hauling the equipment back up as Max broke the surface with an excited yell, and began to swim toward the shore. Turning to the shellshocked group, Michael smirked.
"Who wants to go next?" he asked, biting back a laugh at the looks on their faces. He winked at Maria as he waited for the next volunteer.
Kyle glanced at Tess momentarily before stepping forward. "I'll do it," he spoke up loudly, reaching for the harness. Michael helped the man into the equipment, making certain everything was secure before nodding slightly. Kyle glanced back at Tess before climbing over the railing and jumping with a loud whoop.
He felt the breath sucked from his lungs as he fell, the water coming closer, and a smile curled his lips as he felt the familiar adrenaline rush wash through him. This was the life, he thought to himself as his fingertips brushed the water's glassy surface an instant before the harness jerked him back up into the air, his heart thumping loudly in his ears.
Max reached shore and was climbing out of the water as Kyle, his harness now dangling him in midair, released the clasps, dropping into the water his best friend had just vacated. Hitting the water in a competant dive, with only the slightest splash as Kyle's body cut through the water, surfacing several feet closer to shore.
Max stood on the bank, waiting for his friend. He was eager to get back up there and go again. When Kyle reached the bank, Max helped him out and the two friends followed the path back up the bank to their friends. They stopped to watch as a screeching Alex fell away from the bridge, screaming out his terror for everyone to hear, and the boys couldn't quite hold back their laughs.
They could make out Isabel's voice, screaming at Michael and laughed loudly as they hurried up the bank to rescue their new friend from the Ice Queen's wrath. Reaching the bridge they were stunned as they watched a smirking Michael fitting the harness onto Max's glaring sister. "There is NO way I am doing anything that insavne Michael Guerin so you can just get this damn thing off me!" she ordered him, irate.
Michael just smirked and scooped her up, planting her back down on the other side of the railing, ignoring her screamed demands that he get her back onto firm ground immediately. Maria tried to calm her new friend. "Isabel, really. I swear it will be fine. It's just like high diving. And look, Max and Kyle are already up here waiting to do it again," she soothed.
"They are both INSANE. ALL OF YOU ARE! GET ME OFF THIS THING!" she demanded hysterically.
"Your wish is my command, Princess," Michael smirked, pushing her from the platform and covering his ears at her high pitched screeching.
"Damnit, Michael!" Max growled, stepping forward. "You didn't have to push her off."
"Worked with you, didn't it, Maxwell?" Michael retorted, and Max just sighed, glancing over the railing to watch his now silent sister dangling from the harness. A moment later, the loud splash confirmed that she had safely dropped into the water. He knew that Alex would make certain that she made it safely to shore and glanced toward Tess.
"You gonna try it Tess?" he asked excitedly, eager to get another chance himself.
Max watched the silent girl, awaiting her answer, and she finally stiffened and stepped forward. "Anything for you, Max," she whispered softly and walked slowly toward Michael. Max frowned at her whispered declaration, and an annoyed scowl crossed his lips momentarily. She still didn't get it, he thought.
He watched Michael haul up the harness and secure Tess for her turn. The petite girl climbed awkwardly over the railing with Michael's help and glanced back at Max hungrily before jumping with a frightened cry. Max turned to Kyle. "I thought you were gonna get her off my back, Bro," Max reminded him.
"I'm trying, Max, but the girl has a one track mind," Kyle answered. "Just give me time. I'll have her eating out of my hand by the end of this trip."
"You better do it quick, Kyle, or you will all be finishing this trip without me."
"Come on, Maxwell," Michael smirked. "I know you're dying for another go." Not needing any further urging, Max quickly stepped to Michael and worked himself into the harness. He offered Michael an excited grin before climbing over the railing and jumping from the bridge.
He savored every sensation this time, from the breath being sucked from his lungs, to the breeze ruffling through his hair, to the feeling of the air against his descending form. His heart thumped in his ears and the adrenaline washed through his body, increasing every sense a hundred fold. It was the most intense, exhilarating experience of his life.
"-expected to actually enjoy it so much," Isabel admitted excitedly as she picked at her lunch.
"There's nothing else like it, Princess. When the adrenaline is pumping, it's such an incredible rush.Once you've had a taste, you can never get enough," Michael said, grinning over at Maria.
"I don't know about anyone else," Max said. "But I can't wait to try something new."
"Well, you know....Maria and I are meeting up with Liz in New Zealand in a couple of weeks. You guys want to come along?" Michael asked in invitation, winking slyly at Max.
Max looked to the rest of the group hopefully. "What do you think, guys?"
"I've always wanted to see New Zealand. Hey maybe we can even do one of those Lord of the Ring Tours," Alex suggested. Isabel couldn't stifle her giggle at her goofy fiance.
"Sounds good to me," Kyle put in. He glanced toward Tess, annoyed to see her gaze was fixed on his best friend. Didn't she understand that Max wanted nothing to do with her? Couldn't she see what was right in front of her face?
"I'm up for anything you want to do, Max" Tess cooed, latching onto his arm, batting her lashes up at him.
A/N: this is my first Adult post so please go easy on the newbie lol
With that said...... hope you enjoy.
Chapter 7
A furious Max untangled himself from Tess and stormed away with a scowling glare at his sister. He ignored her mouthed apology as he stepped to the edge of the bridge, gazing out over the beauty of the island as he tried to reign in his anger.
Why couldn't the girl get it through her head that he wanted nothing to do with her? He'd made it painfully clear over the past week that he had no interest in her whatsoever. She just didn't seem to see what was right in front of her face. And it was driving him up the wall.
Tess, clueless as usual, moved to him, plastering herself to his side. "This is going to be sooooo exciting, Max!" she gushed.
Unable to take anymore, Max pulled away from her and glared the blond down. "How many times do I have to tell you, Tess? I'm NOT interested in you!"
Tess gaped at him silently before suddenly bursting into tears.
Max watched her outburst with disgust. As far as he was concerned she'd brought it on herself. He'd tried over and over to let her down easy and she'd ignored every attempt.
Michael looked on with a smirk. He wondered at the girl's outburst. It was obvious to everyone that Max wanted nothing to do with her. Well, obvious to everyone but Tess, he supposed, biting back a laugh.
~*~
Tess jiggled the pin in the lock until it clicked open. Stifling a groan and hoping the noise hadn't woken the guys, the girl slipped inside, closing the door quietly. Waiting for her eyes to adjust to the pitch black, she carefully made her way to the bedroom door.
This is it, she thought gleefully. I'm going to make Max Evans mine. Slipping silently into the bedroom, she could vaguely make out the dark hair peeking out from under the covers. Creeping closer, she reached her hand out to touch the still slightly damp hair and ran her fingers through it lightly.
Careful not to wake him yet, Tess slipped into the bed, sliding her hand down to his thigh, caressing it ever so softly. Feeling his thigh tense beneath her touch she grinned slyly. So he wasn't as immune to her charms as he tried to pretend.
Her fingers sought and found his rod, wrapping around it and sliding along it's length. Feeling his cock twitch in her hand she stifled a triumphant shout, instead choosing to increase the tempo of her stroking, impatient to make him hers.
The soft groan that escaped the sleeping man's lips was like music to her ears. He wanted this, just as much as she did. And this time, she wouldn't allow anything to get in her way. Sliding down the bed, she brought her lips down on his hardening shaft, her tongue swirling around the head.
Smiling to herself when his hips bucked in response, Tess began to suck, knowing that after this night, Max Evans would never be able to reject her again. She would ruin him for any other woman. Oh yes. Max Evans would beg her to stay with him.
Her hand slid along his chest, fingers finding and tweaking his male nipples, elicited another deep groan of pleasure. Feeling his thick fingers tangle in her hair, Tess sucked harder, intent on making him release every last ounce of his control into her eager mouth.
She felt him pulsing in her mouth and welcomed the bucking of his hips as he began to thrust eagerly. She knew he was close and she increased her seduction, destroying the last of his control.
She swallowed eagerly as he spilled himself inside her, enjoying every last drop as she milked him. Finally she released and crawled her way up his body. Reaching his ear she whispered softly, "I'm going to make this a night you will never forget, Baby."
Not giving him a chance to protest, Tess straddled his hips and slowly impaled herself on him, moaning loudly as he filled her. Tess reveled into the feeling of his hands on her hips, setting the pace as she rode him, her own personal stallion.
She couldn't believe it was truly happening. She had succeeded in seducing Max. He was hers now. Tess Evans.... the name sounded so sweet, even in her head. She would be rich once she got him down the aisle. A doctor's wife. Respected. Rich.
A deep moan slipped from her lips when she felt his hands on her breast, kneading roughly. His fingers pinched and tugged at her nipples, earning another moan of intense pleasure. He was incredible, she thought. This was the most incredible man she had ever had. And now he was hers. Rich, and an incredible lover to boot. What more could she possibly ask for?
"Oh, god....Yesss Baby......yesss..." She rocked faster, feeling her orgasm building. "OOOOoooo..........MAXXXxxxxxx.........." she cried as he pushed her over the edge.
Tess floated slowly back to herself, her breathing ragged, a sated grin adorning her lips. That had been incredible. The best sex she'd ever had. She'd known it the second she'd seen that. She'd just known that he was the one.
Tess rolled to her side and purred when he tugged her back against him, spooning her to him. "You were incredible, baby," she whispered softly as her eyes drifted closed.
Kyle held her tightly as she drifted into sleep, his brow furrowed. He'd just had the most mind blowing, out of this world sex of his young life, and his dream girl had cried out his best friend's name. He dreaded what would inevitably happen when she woke up in the morning.
