PS I know the first paragraph doesn't make very much sense but it will later on, but that had to be first! I swear!

Summary: Everyone is on Antar, but something happens to someone very important. Will the others be able to recover and move on or will they shut down? You'll have to read to find out. 100% dreamer, complete with happy ending, and angst!!
Author: maggie
Rating: ADULT
Disclaimer: The characters belong to Melinda Metz and Jason Katims (who never told us who Serena was!). I own nothing but this nifty computer, so please don't sue!!!

Ok, so here is a summar of MY character's names and their Roswellian names:
Ava:Tess
Rath:Michael
Zan:Max
Vilandra: Isabel
Alyssa:Liz
Aiden: Alex
Reanna: Maria
Kelon:Kyle
Valeron:Sheriff Valenti
Athemia:Amy(Maria's mom

Part One:
He was young, only nineteen. Even for a leader of the rebellion, which were mostly young men against the throne. He knew that his father was glad to die fighting for something he so deeply believed in. He couldn’t help it that now the people looked to him as their new leader. What was he going to do? He could only pray that because of his mother’s noble status he would be granted an audience and a chance to petition the crown for his mother’s inheritance and titles. His father had been a poor laborer on her father’s estate and they had fallen in love almost instantly. When her father had found out about her pregnancy he had forced them to marry, and then cut his only heir and child off. After his grandfather had died his mother automatically inherited, she had left her husband and son for her wealth. She had remained on her estate, without speaking to her son or husband until her death. His father had never recovered and had vowed to change the class system of the world that tightly encased all people. Now, in his father’s stead he would inherit his mother’s land, wealth, and title and he would use them to gain more power until he had an army powerful enough to take on the crown, and then they would pay.
****************************************************
Zan laughed as Rath jousted with Alyssa, his twin. Vilandra, Zan’s twin sat on her golden mare and watched the games with and air of conceit.
“I can’t believe they would lower themselves to act like common children.” Vilandra sniffed.
“Oh, yes of course Princess Vilandra would never lower herself to actually have fun. How could we have forgotten?” Zan rolled his eyes.
“I have fun! Fun is definitely not rolling around in the mud. I don’t understand why Alyssa won’t act like a normal girl,” Vilandra squinted at Rath and Alyssa, who seemed to be fighting quite intensely.
“I think Alyssa does act like a normal girl, and even if she doesn’t, I like the way she acts!”
“Oh, you,” Vilandra waved her hand dismissively, ”You’re practically in love with her.”
“I am not!” Zan kicked his horse into action, and rode towards Alyssa and Rath.
Reanna walked up to Vilandra with Aiden in tow.” Oh, Lonnie why did you have to go and do that? You know he’s going to punish Alyssa for it.” Reanna sighed and shook her head.
“He can’t help the way he feels about her, plus he’s engaged to Ava, so his feelings for Alyssa are a moot point.” Aiden nodded.
“Psh, he would never hurt precious Alyssa, he thinks she hung the moon.” Vilandra rolled her eyes.
Reanna shrugged,” I think you should leave them alone.” She dragged Aiden away from Vilandra, and she called out a greeting to the three friends.
It had always been that way. Rath and Alyssa, and Zan and Vilandra, Reanna, Aiden, Kelon, and Ava. The eight had been thrown together since birth. Ava and Aiden came from a neighboring kingdom and were cousins. Aiden spent most of his time on Antar because his father was an ambassador for the crown from Plenor. Ava was princess of that land and she had always been a little bit jealous of Zan and Alyssa’s closeness, she managed to contain her jealousy because she knew that in the end she was the one that married Zan and not Alyssa. Aiden, had been in love with Vilandra since they were three years old and now twelve years later, he was still pining for her. Reanna and Kelon were stepsister and step brother, their parents had met married when they were five. Kelon’s father was a high chancellor in charge of peace and security in the kingdom. A chancellor was the highest advisor to the king, there were thirteen high chancellors and about sixteen or so chancellors. These families were the Royal court of Antar; there was also the Noble Court and the High Court, all of which were the nobility on Antar. The Court was all of these combined and usually there was very little distinction between Royal, Noble and High courts, they all went together. Reanna’s mother was from the Noble court and she was a beautiful lady who had caught Valeron’s eye from the beginning, Valeron had even accepted Reanna as his daughter.
Then there was Alyssa and Rath, who were different as night and day, fire and water, and well… you get it. They were both fierce protectors of one another. Their father was the High Chancellor of Inter-planetary affairs, basically the military and war. He was also the General of the King’s armies. He was an admired man, known for his peacekeeping skills and generosity. Their mother had died giving birth to Alyssa, who was a year younger. Rath and Zan had been close friends since they were old enough to crawl; Zan was older than Rath and Alyssa by two full months. He was like a protective older brother to Alyssa and best friends with Rath.
Zan and Vilandra were Prince and Princess of Antar; they were both very aware of their position and duties. Their father and mother had instilled in them a sense of responsibility to the Crown, which was why Zan was betrothed to Ava without argument

Don't worry guys, Ava isn't all bad, but she is kinda bad. After all envy is a deadly sin! But I swear this fic is 100% dreamer! Ok anyways...on with t he show. Please don't anybody hate Ava in the beginning, she redeems herself, a little...

Part Two
“Zan!” Alyssa stopped dueling and ran to Zan, he picked her up and spun her around until they were both too dizzy to stand.
“What is it now? Huh? Do you need me to save you from your brother? Or is it that you are too weak to ride back to the castle and need my assistance or is it-"
“Shut up! It is none of those things you big macho highness!”
“Oh. So you were just so charmed by my good looks that you ran into my arms?” Zan laughed, and tweaked Alyssa’s nose.
“Something like that…” Alyssa blushed and backed right into Rath who had been watching the exchange with hostility. After all this was his sister and he didn’t want her to be having feelings for someone who was betrothed to someone else.
“What was that about?” He glared at Zan.
“None of your business, Rath.” Zan glared back.
“When it’s my baby sister, I think it is my business!”
“Oh really? What happened to Alyssa makes her own decisions?” Alyssa faced both of them with her hands on her hips.
“Nothing happened to that, I’m protecting you.” Rath announced.
“She doesn’t need to be protected from me.”
“Yes she does, and we both know it.”
“No, she doesn’t because I’m going to take care of her, and you don’t have any say in the matter.”
“Yes, she does because she doesn’t know how to protect herself from you.”
“She doesn’t need to know how, because there’s nothing to be protected from! Except maybe you.”
“WAIT A MINUTE!” Alyssa yelled, ”Don’t I get a say in the matter?! Huh? Or was I mistaken when I thought that this was MY life and MY decisions to make!” She stormed off toward the castle.
“Look what you did! Now I have to follow her and make sure she’s ok.” Reanna punched Rath’s arm. ”Jerk.” And went up the hill after Alyssa.
“Someday, Alyssa’s really going to make you two pay for trying to control her,” Aiden nodded wisely.
“Yeah, well… I can handle it. I’ve been paying for 14 years.” Rath shrugged and slung his arm around Zan.
“Yeah… nothing she could do would ever make us sorry,” Zan smiled.
“That’s right, we’re men and men know how to handle their women,” Rath smirked at Aiden.
“Uh huh…” Aiden nodded slowly.
“It doesn’t matter she’ll be over it by supper anyway, lets go to the kitchens and see if there are any snacks.” Zan started off to the castle with Rath and Aiden in close succession. Vilandra had already gone in, having no taste for being left alone.
***********************************************
“Supper is served, your ladyships.” A maid announced to Reanna and Alyssa who had been spending quiet time, or somewhat quiet on Reanna’s part in the library. Zan and
Rath had come in looking for them, but they had scrambled up the ladder to the balcony, and since the boys couldn’t see them realistically getting up the narrow ladder in their dresses and they weren’t allowed up there, they hadn’t bothered looking. Alyssa and Reanna had climbed down after they had left and had sat, in relative silence until supper. Now they had to face the boys. It was a tradition that had started when the children were very young that they would take their supper together, in a smaller dining room, while the adults ate in the large formal dining room. So at least Reanna and Alyssa didn’t have to face their parents.
“So… what are you going to do about Ava?” Reanna knew Alyssa had a crush on Zan, but that she wouldn’t do anything about it.
“Nothing.” Alyssa watched her feet make their way to the dining room.
‘I think we should make her look really bad in front of Zan and then he will hate her and never want to marry her and then you can become betrothed to him and then when you are both old enough, you can get married and then have cute little children and then they can grow up and marry my children, and then we will be related and everything will be absolutely perfect!” Reanna announced.
“Reanna, that’s the silliest plan I ever heard, how can we make her look bad when we barely see her? Besides which if my children marry your children that would be disgusting because your children would be Rath’s children too!”
“OH MY GOD! Take that back! I am not marrying your disgusting, self centered, jerk of a brother! I don’t even like him!” Reanna yelled.
“Yes you do! Admit it! I won’t tell!” Alyssa laughed, and skipped the rest of the way the dining hall. “Reanna likes Rath! Reanna likes Rath! Reanna likes Rath!”
“I’m going to get you! I DO NOT!! Stop that! Someone could hear you!” Reanna ran after Alyssa, laughing.
Both girls made it to supper, breathing hard and red in the face. Vilandra sniffed in disdain at their appearance. She hated eating supper with the “children”; she would have preferred to eat with the adults. She watched as Zan’s whole face lit up at the sight of Alyssa and rolled her eyes, puppy love.
“Sit down already, I’m dying of hunger!” Aiden ordered.
“Alright, so what is for supper tonight?” Alyssa asked as Zan pulled out her chair for her.
“Children!” The queen’s voice bounced off the walls of the outside hallway. The group stood up in preparation of her arrival, you always stood if the Queen or King were in a room and were standing as well, and you always stood upon arrival of a king and queen. “I have a wonderful surprise for you.” She cheerfully called out as she swept into the room.
“Look who just arrived today, especially to see you all!” she stepped aside and behind her was none other than Princess Ava herself. The girls, minus Vilandra who didn’t have to because she was equal to Ava, all curtsied.
“What brings you here?” Aiden asked, shocked by his cousin’s surprise arrival.
“Oh, well I thought I would visit with everyone and get to know you all.” She smiled, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes.
“Lovely! Well, I’ll leave you to each other.” The queen swept out again and everyone remained standing, staring at Ava.
“Would you like to sit down?” Alyssa asked shyly.
“I would.” She brushed past Alyssa and sat down next to Zan. “I have so missed my Zan, tell me all about your adventures.” Everyone sat after she did.
“I haven’t had any.” Zan mumbled into his plate.
“What? Zan, I could barely hear you speak up!” She giggled.
“How could anyone hear anything, much less their thoughts with your voice?” Reanna shot out.
“Excuse me, but I don’t think I heard you. Did you just insult me?” Ava raised her eyebrows.
“Yes, I did,” Reanna saw the challenge in Ava’s eyes and met it.
“I wouldn’t try that again, you might be very sorry,” Ava threatened.
“Oh really? Well how about this? You’re a self-centered –“ Rath stopped Reanna by putting his hand on her arm and shaking his head at her. Supper after that was a silent meal. The first the group had ever had, they usually talked and joked with each other about their day, or told stories that they had heard from the servants. Sometimes supper was only complaints about how horrible their lives were, and how nobody listened to them, but supper was never silent.

Part Three:
He walked around his mother’s house. The courts had granted his petition for his mother’s title and he was now safely ensconced in his mother’s childhood home. It was an exceptionally large home. The estate was just as vast, at least 70 acres. He didn’t even know who is closest neighbors were. All could see was a green hills for miles and miles around. He couldn’t believe the amount of space inside. He could house a relatively large army. Nothing as large as the King’s army, but something that could make an impression.
He planted his feet and stood in the main hall, it was large, he had been told it had been used for balls, dining, and reception of guests. He thought it would make a perfect room for his leaders to gather. In the six months he had moved in, he had doubled the size of his army. He was a well like noble, no one knew the truth about his birth or origins. They all thought he was a charming, handsome gentleman, who lazed about like all the other young nobles with too much money and no ambition. He smiled, fools, one day they would all see, they would learn who he was. He would become the ruler of this ridiculous planet and he would change it for the better. He would make it a strong nation, one that other planets would respect and fear. He would ensure the future of his home, his armies would be the most powerful in the whole system. He would be revered and respected, like a god. He looked out the large windows and saw a group of young teenagers riding horses in the distance. He remembered that age, pity that he never got to have a real childhood like they seemed to be having. He had been training for leadership of the rebellion since he was old enough to walk, yet another reason his mother had decided that she was better off without them. Stupid whore. He heard their laughter and went to the window. He watched as they frolicked in the grass, his grass. He wanted to go outside and greet them but watching them was much better. He wondered if they could be enlisted for his cause, the men looked young and strong. The women were beautiful, not that this was necessarily a good thing. Beautiful women were deadly, his mother had been beautiful, but they made good spies. Spies who could find things out from men that other men couldn’t. He pondered this as he watched them. They looked so young and so innocent. He couldn’t help but wonder how his rebellion would change them. He hoped their parents were smart enough to leave, and surrender what they had to him. He could tell they were noble children, dressed as they were, and each with their own steed. He smiled, lucky brats.
****************************************************
“Reanna! Slow down!” Rath chased after her on his horse, “You’re going to get yourself killed!” Vilandra and Aiden watched him go.
“God, now he’s besotted. Is that all you do? Chase after the first pretty girl you see, until you catch her?” Vilandra tossed her head.
“No, actually we also like to beat each other black and blue,” Aiden teased.
“Oh, Aiden! You’re not helping!” she glared at him.
“No, I don’t suppose I am. I apologize, dear Lady. Shall we ride towards our wayward friends?” He bowed from his horse.
“Oh Aiden,” Vilandra smiled and sighed, “Promise me you won’t become like my simpering brother and Rath. Don’t ever play games with a girl,” she looked at him in earnest.
He held her gaze, “I won’t. I promise.” He kicked his horse into a gallop. “Now, lets go make sure that those children don’t do anything stupid.”
“Yes, lets!” She laughed and followed after him.
“Alyssa! I will find you! I don’t care how long it takes,” Zan called out to the forest. Alyssa peaked from behind a tree, she could see the white of his shirt. She thanked the gods and her maid that she was wearing a dark green gown. She grinned.
“No you won’t!” She laughed and dodged to another tree.
“Oh but I will! I always do.” He walked slowly, waiting for her to slip up. She always did. He heard a twig snap, and flipped around to the noise. He watched for movement, but saw none. He was in predator mode, he was an excellent hunter, and at this moment his pray was Alyssa. He saw a flash of dark green move from one tree to another. He smiled to himself. Caught.
“You do not!” She called out. Suddenly she ran right into someone and screamed. Zan was there in an instant, grabbing her and pulling her behind him.
“Stay away from her!” he growled.
“Chill, down boy, it’s just me!” Reanna help up her hands.
“Oh, it’s you,” Zan relaxed and stepped aside, “I think I won, Alyssa.”
“You did not, that was cheating, Reanna scared me.” Alyssa argued.
“Maybe you should look before you run, and then I wouldn’t have to worry, every time you scream,” Zan pointed out, logically.
“Whatever,” Reanna, waved her hands, “I scared her, and so I’m calling this game as a stalemate. Now, has anyone seen- EEEEEEEEEEEEE!” Rath grabbed Reanna from behind and picked her up.
“Ha ha ha ha ha ha!” Zan laughed, “That was great! See, what happens when you don’t pay attention.”
“Oh! That was mean!” Reanna slapped Rath on his arm. The group headed out of the woods.
“Where is Ava? And for that matter Kelon?” Alyssa asked.
“Hmmm, I haven’t seen them for awhile.” Rath answered.
Ava panted and stroked Kelon’s chest. “You’re so strong and muscular,” She planted little kisses on his chest. “Much better than any other man, I’ve ever seen.” She gasped as she felt Kelon’s tongue on the spot directly below her ear lobe.
“You taste so good!” Kelon murmured in her ear.
“OH! Don’t stop right there,” She sighed as he found her sweet spot. “Hmmmm, so good. Oh! Oh! Oh, Zan!”
“What?” Kelon stilled, “What did you say?”
“Nothing,” She stroked his arms, “I didn’t say anything. Lets start from where we left off.” She purred.
“No we can’t because you said Zan’s name.” Kelon rose and began adusting his clothing.
“Don’t leave, stay. I want you to stay.”
“I’m not staying, I’m going to go back and find the others.” He walked away from her.
“Kelon, don’t you dare leave! I order you to stay!” Kelon kept walking, “Come back here! Do you hear me? Come back right now!”
Kelon kept walking, until he heard the others, a little bit away. “Oh, Zan I pity the life you’re going to have if you marry her.” He sighed, “Hey! Where have you all been?”
“Kelon!” Alyssa called out, running to the sound of his voice. She and Kelon were very close, not as close as her and Reanna, but very close because their parents were good friends as well. “There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere for you! Have you seen Ava? I wouldn’t want her to get lost, she’s never been in the countryside before.” She smiled.
Oh, Alyssa, I pray that your kind heart does you good, and not harm, and that you never cross paths with Ava because she’ll tear your heart out and stomp on it. Kelon smiled at her and shook his head, no.
“Oh, pity, maybe a wild bear ate her.” Reanna shrugged, “At least then we won’t have to listen to her voice.”
“Here I am!” Ava called out, coming from behind the trees. “Were you all terribly worried about me? I just got a little lost. I never worried, I knew Zan would find me.” She smiled, her mechanical smile and looked at Zan.
“Um, alright, well lets go back home, and finish our lessons.” Zan grabbed Alyssa’s hand and pulled her towards the house they were staying at. Kelon glared at Ava and walked after them.
Ava sniffed and walked in the opposite direction, “I don’t need any lessons, I’m going for a walk.”
“What was that all about?” Reanna looked after her.
“Don’t worry about it, lets just go,” Rath led her away.

Many thanks to roswellluver and cocopucks for their FB!! You guys keep me writing!! THANK YOU!!! OK, Well here's the new part ! I hope everyone enjoys it!!! I am currently working on parts five and six, they might be up later today or maybe tomorrow... they need "tweaking"!

Part Four:
Vilandra sighed as she listened to the tutor drone on and on. Why did they even bother? It’s not like she really had to know anything anyway. All she really needed to know was how to look pretty because she was never going to be a real ruler, she was only a figurehead until Zan either took a wife and/or died. She knew Zan wasn’t going to die anytime soon, being 15 and whatnot, that was also the reason that he wasn’t going to take a wife. He wasn’t allowed, by their planet’s laws, to marry until he was at least 20 years old. So he had a good five years to toy with Alyssa, before he had to assume his duty and marry Ava. At times she almost felt sorry for Alyssa because she was obviously in a dream world if she thought she had anything real and lasting with her brother. She sighed again, why did duty have to come first? Why couldn’t they just be happy and do what they thought was best for themselves? She had a theory that if the rulers of the country were happy, then the planet would reflect that as well. But no her father was King and he knew best, so she did was she was supposed to. She knew Alyssa and Reanna were allowed to go to the market, she had often wished that she be allowed to go with them. She was never allowed it caused too much of a stir and her father always said that security was hardest in the market place. He didn’t want anyone kidnapping the Princess of Antar. Beings from every world came to visit and trade in Antar, it had one of the best trade arrangements, very fair and equitable she was told. She had never even seen a being from another planet, much less been in contact with one. She sighed again, louder this time.
“Your Highness, am I boring you?” Serena, the tutor asked.
“What?” Vilandra stared at her, “No.” She looked out the window.
“Perhaps an outdoor lesson would be in order today,” Serena smiled, as she saw the young women’s faces light up.
“Can we study the origin of the planet and life?” Alyssa asked, jumping up and gathering her books, she was always eager for a science lesson. Lord knows, as a female it was a surprising talent, but she would probably marry a lord and spend the rest of her life in a big manor house giving birth to heirs. Serena sighed she hated the class system that allowed a common girl more freedom, than a noble born. She smiled at Alyssa’s enthusiasm, and walked out of the classroom with the girls right behind her.
“Do you think she’s part of that rebellion my step-father warned us about?” Reanna whispered, so Serena wouldn’t hear.
“No,” Alyssa looked at Reanna like she was insane.
“She could be!” Reanna insisted, “She always complains about the power struggle in the courts.”
“Of course she does!” Alyssa pointed out, “She doesn’t want us to become a part of a bickering court, besides which, our fathers would NEVER hire a member of the rebellion to teach us. How could you even think that they would be so foolish?”
“I was just saying…” Reanna shrugged.
“I know, it would be… different to know someone part of the rebellion. They say that there is a member in the courts who is turning the nobility against the King. My papa says he may send Rath and I away to school. Somewhere, very far away, another planet, not in our system because he says the minute Antar goes into turmoil, then the other planets won’t hesitate to attack.” Alyssa shook her head, she was scared.
“How did you hear all that? It sounds like rubbish to me!” Reanna arched her eyebrow.
“I heard my father talking to Rath. He tells Rath everything, he said it’s Rath’s job to protect me should anything happen to him.” Alyssa bit her lip.
“It’s just so strange how much changes in only six months time.” Reanna commented as they made their way outside. The boys were having an outdoor lesson as well, and Reanna studied Rath. He was his usual blank self, he never betrayed any emotions. She smiled as she saw Zan look up the minute he realized Alyssa was outside. He went to her and starting talking to her. They weren’t even touching, but it was obvious, even to a ditzy 14 year old like Reanna, that they were soul mates. They were so cute together. Thank the gods that Ava had gone up to room complaining of a headache earlier in the lesson. Reanna smiled, she was going to sabotage Ava if it was the last thing she did. She didn’t like Ava. She ran to Aiden, to see what he was trying to build from a few sticks.
Serena and Plurin watched the young ones interact. She smiled at the romance that was developing between Zan and Alyssa. She was well aware of the engagement, between Antar and Plenor, she knew if the engagement was cancelled then Plenor wouldn’t hesistate to wage war against Antar. She wondered if Zan would put his love first or his duty. She glanced at Plurin, he was studying them as well.
“Do you think he would want to know about this?” she asked him quietly.
“I think it’s dangerous to mention such things here.” He said, still looking straight ahead.
“Plurin, they’re children. What harm could they do? How would they know to tell?” She implored
“I think you’ve grown attached Serena. He will have to have you replaced if you’re not more careful.” Plurin walked away and hustled his young men inside.
“Aright!” Serena called out cheerfully, “Have you had enough playtime?” She smiled and beckoned them towards her. Poor darlings, they are going to be in for a life of pain if he gets his way.

Part 5A:
He had two of his best agents placed within the palace. He hadn’t heard from either of them for weeks and he was assuming that since he had heard nothing that the royal children meant nothing. He smiled to himself. He hoped that they would have parents smart enough to shield them from the civil war he was about to begin on Antar. His plans were almost in place, all he needed was an opening. He had most of the support he needed, as far as monetary and militia. Everyday he was informed of new recruits who had learned of his cause in whispered conversations in the basements of taverns, or passing by a member who wore the purple insignia. It was nothing more than a small pin, and most people assumed it was another trend making it’s way through the young people. Only members of the rebellion wore them, and only members of the rebellion knew where to get them. This insured that members would recognize each other once the signal was given. He grinned at his own cleverness, perhaps he would give it today, but no he would wait a little bit and see how many more young men and women eager to join the cause would. Once the numbers stopped increasing so dramatically, he would then put his foolproof plan into action. No King of Antar would be able to stop him. There was nothing standing in his way now.
Zan stood his ground he knew that one way or another his opponent would give up. He always won these battles of will. Kelon sighed and kept going, he wasn’t going to let Zan win this time, Zan won every single time. he turned at the sound of female voices.
“HA! I win!” Zan crowed.
“That was dirty, it’s their fault,” Kelon pointed to Reanna and Alyssa, who had just walked in.
“Too bad, but you still lose!” Rath stated.
“The whole point is not to be distracted by outside forces and you definitely were distracted by outside forces.” Aiden stated.
“Honestly,” Vilandra walked in, “It’s a silly game, it’s nothing really important.”
“How would you know?” Aiden challenged
“I would know because I am simply that way. I know lots of things.” Vilandra put her nose in the air.
“Of course you do,” Reanna soothed, “Lets play a different game. Lets play a game that everyone can play. Alright?” She suggested.
“OOOH! Yes, that’s a good idea! But what can we play?” Alyssa asked.
“We can play… everyone goes inside and speaks with their parents!” Serena interrupted.
“Our parents?” Rath looked stunned.
“Yes. Lord Rath pick your chin off the ground before we go in please. Reanna, please adjust your skirt so it doesn’t look like you were swinging from trees. Alyssa, you have grass in your hair, and Zan your belt is loose.” Serena bustled them inside as they fixed themselves up.
“Everyone’s parents?” Vilandra asked tentatively.
“Yes.” She didn’t elaborate.
Once the children were inside she left them in the main hall. They sent worried looks to each other. Zan tried to make Vilandra feel better by rubbing her arms, they so rarely saw their parents outside of pre-arranged dates in court and at other social functions, even then the contact was minimal. Their parents were rulers of a country after all. Alyssa was less nervous and more excited, she hadn’t seen her father since they had arrived at the country palace. It was a secret palace, she had been told by Rath, used for protection, so no one knew who they were. She had questioned this at first, but as time wore on she had forgotten it. Reanna didn’t know who to expect, her mother or Kelon’s father, she looked at Kelon the question in her eyes. He shrugged in reply, he didn’t know either. Aiden knew that Ava’s parents wouldn’t show up, he wondered if his father would be able to leave his duties to be here, but Serena had said everyone’s parents, so he assumed yes.
“The King and Queen of Antar!” A voice boomed from the doorway. The children made the appropriate bow and curtsies as their royals and their parents entered.
“Hello darlings!” The Queen bent down and hugged her children close to her.
“Alyssa! Rath!” They both turned at the sound of their father’s voice.
“Papa!” Alyssa ran into her father’s arms. “I missed you!”
“Oi! You get bigger every time I see you! I still see you haven’t learned how to act like a lady, even though you look like one. What am I paying those fancy tutors for?” he laughed as he hugged her to him. “Rath.” He nodded at his son and pulled him into his embrace.
Kelon and Reanna stood to the side with both of their parents, hugging and smiling. Aiden and his father shook hands and stood awkwardly waiting for the others to finish their renunion. The king announced that they would go to the safe room. It was room that had been protected by their planet’s technology to keep out evesdroppers and spies. They all settled themselves in the safe room.
Zan studied his father, the King looked ten years older since he had last seen him. He sat still as his father rubbed his temples, an indication that he was getting a headache. Usually the King was a very calm and assured man, now he looked tired and old. Zan looked at all of the parents, they all looked years older, it seemed that they were holding something back from them. They looked like his father looked worried, tired and old. He couldn’t believe this, his parents had never looked so old to him. He realized they weren’t young, but to look so much older than their years. What could have happened in such a short time?
King Philip thought about his next words carefully, he wanted to make them understand but he didn’t want to terrify them. They were in such a precarious position, if He succeeded all that his ancestors had worked for would be lost. He understood that the class system was binding and limiting, he had hoped the people would wait for his son to take the throne. His son. Zan. Zan would have been able to change their planet, with his modern ideals and beliefs. He would have made Antar what it was supposed to be. It was probably too late for him anyway. He knew that He was planning on murdering any of the nobility that didn’t surrender to Him, he sighed Zan would never surrender and he wouldn’t want his son to be so cowardly. He looked at Zan, and saw him silently communicating with someone else. He looked to see who it was, oh Alyssa. That was yet another problem to add to the growing list. He was well aware of his son’s apparent feelings for the girl, the entire kingdom was well aware, but that didn’t change a thing. Zan was betrothed to Ava, he wondered for the millionth time if he had done the right thing, seeing Zan and Alyssa like that. They were speaking without words and it spoke volumes to him. He noticed Princesss Ava then, she was smiling but the smile chilled him to the bone as he looked at her. He would probably have to break the engagement and send the Princess home, in light of the recent turmoil in his kingdom. It was a risky choice, but one he was willing to take. He didn’t want to be blamed for the death of King Nasedo’s only daughter and if she remained allied to Zan she would most certainly die. He had seen Khivar’s work, he was a man of no mercy and no forgiveness. Princess Ava, and all of these children, would die for their connection to him and Zan. He sighed again.
“Father?” Vilandra placed her hand on his arm, “Are- Is every thing alright?” She looked at him, begging him to say it was. How could he tell them? What could he say to make them understand?

Okay, I know Zan's dad is going to seem like a big ASS and well... he is, but the one thing to remember is that he is like under major stress and he has like zero support other than from like the group of parents, and Khivar has basically ruined every single belief that the planet was built on, but there will be more on that later! So just please everyone understand... THANKS
Oh... and it might seem like Zan and Alyssa have not a lot of feelings for each other it's becuase um well... they do, but it's understated right now.
And please don't everyone hate Ava JEALOUSY is a BIG UGLY GREEN MONSTER that eats people up, so she's just being very jealous!
OKAY THANKS AND MUCH LOVE AND APPRECIATION FOR FB!!!

To Luna1707: This fic is 100% dreamer, which means that no matter how bad life gets or how impossible it is for Zan and Alyssa to be together, they will be. ;o)

Part 5B:
“Everyone,” Philip looked around, “We have something important to tell you. This planet is undergoing a revolution and it may well hurt us all.” He took a deep breath and continued on, “I don’t want any of you to be in danger, as I am King it is impossible for me- you are- this” He sighed.
Aidan’s father took over, “You all are going into hiding, where no one will know your true identities until this is solved. We can’t go with you because as adults and part of the governing body of this planet we can’t just up and disappear. I hope you all understand and accept why we are doing this.”
“What do you mean?” Vilandra was the first to asbord and understand the information. “You are making us virtually, disappear, to where?” She looked her father.
“We fear that by telling you we would put you in danger,” the Queen answered.
“Oh.” Vilandra looked at her hands in her lap.
“Why? Why can’t we stay and help? Papa, we can help. Let us help.” Alyssa pleaded.
“Oh, you would be the best help I’m sure little one but I can’t put you in danger. I won’t do it.” Alyssa’s father nodded vigorously.
“So.” Rath spoke, “When do we leave?”
“You have one more week here and then you will be returning to the capital with us, as far as the staff is concerned, he could have his spies placed here already, so we will take four gliders, seemingly for the families to travel separately, and then we will put you children into two space gilders and we will take the other two to the capital saying we left you in the country and the gilders will take you to the safe house. If we can join you there we will.” Kelon’s father looked at his children, and the children of his close friends. “You will be cloaked so have no fear of discovery and the gilders have will have been preprogrammed with your destination, so there isn’t any need to do anything until we tell you.”
“How will we know to leave?” Aiden asked.
“We’ll tell you to pack for the trip back to the capital, take anything you might want to take with you.” Reanna’s mother answered, she ruffled Aiden’s hair.
“What about me?” Ava asked, tears in her eyes.
“You are going to be sent back to your kingdom, until you can return and marry Zan in safety. I wouldn’t want to put you in danger because of your alliance to Antar,” the King answered.
“WHAT?!” Ava screeched, and the Queen jumped in shock, the other parents looked on in confusion. “YOU’RE BREAKING THE ENGAGEMENT? LIKE THAT-“ she snapped her fingers.
“No, dear, the engagement isn’t broken we are protecting you for your safety by sending you home for the remainder of your engagement,” the Queen soothed.
“OH REALLY!!? LIKE I WOULD BELIEVE THAT!! I KNOW!!” she sobbed, “I KNOW WHAT THIS IS!! THE MINUTE THOSE TWO ARE OF AGE-“ she pointed at Zan and Alyssa who were holding hands, “THEY’RE GOING TO BOND!!! I KNOW!!” She screamed before fainting.
“What on earth?” the queen looked at her limp form on the ground.
The King looked at Zan and Alyssa, “Get away from him!” His fear made his tone unnecessarily harsh.
“Wha- wha- what?” Alyssa stammered out.
“Stay away from him! Unless you want to destroy this entire planet!!” The king bellowed. “Do you understand me!?”
“I- I-“ Alyssa tugged her hand from Zan’s “Let go of me.” She ran out of the room, in tears.
“How dare you! Don’t you ever speak to Alyssa like that again! I’ll give up the throne and you can have Vilandra as your heir if you ever speak to her like that again,” Zan threatened.
“What’s gotten into you, Philip? Honestly!” Queen Diane looked about.
“Your Highness, I believe my service to you will be over as soon as this revolution plays out. I resign as High Chancellor.” Alyssa’s father Jalen, spoke quietly and walked out of the room with Rath, who glared at the King before leaving.
“That was just so- so wrong.” Reanna whispered. Kelon took her hand and she laid her head on his shoulder. “What’s happening to them?”
Kelon’s father, Valeron looked at his wife and she nodded in silent communication with him. Athemia, took Kelon’s and Reanna’s hands.
“We are and always will be loyal to you, King Philip, but that was… indescribable.” Valeron led his wife and children away. Adien and his father stood and silently left the room.
The King stood in the center of the room, with Princess Ava at his feet and he was ashamed, for the first time in his life he was ashamed of something he had done. Now there was no way to fix it.
“Come on darlings, let’s leave your father alone for a moment.” Diane led her children out of the room. A servant came and quickly scooped up Ava’s dead weight, returning her to her bed.
“This revolution is already tearing us all apart,” Philip sighed.

YAY! NEW PART!! Sorry that it took so long! I am very very sorry!! But without further ado here is part six...

Part 6:
They had been living in isolation for the last year. They had all celebrated their birthday and they all missed their parents. Alyssa most of all, she had avoided Zan almost the whole year. They had awkward moments when they would end up with the same chores, every time she thought too much about him her heart broke. She talked to him about the housekeeper. She talked to him about the changes in the people, she talked to him about anything and everything but Ava.
The house keeper believed that they were all wards of the government whose parents had died and were escaping the horrors of the revolution, which was quickly gaining ground. The King and all the other officials were rumored to have fled the palace and were underground. No one had seen or heard from Antar’s ruling body. The people who supported the King were afraid to speak up and those who didn’t were worried that the King’s heir could make a re-appearance anytime and reclaim his birthright. The people of Antar would accept him simply because if he was unfit to be heir the Oracles would have denied him at birth. It was an old gruesome custom, but it had happened before. The Oracles saw the whole lives of people, and they used they power to make sure than only children who were fit to rule would rule. If they decided the named heir was unfit, he was “disposed” of (he was sent to live with a peasant family, no one being the wiser to his heritage) it was cruel but it had kept Antar alive and prospering for years.
Alyssa sighed and rolled over in bed, the sunlight filtering through the curtains, she prayed to the gods for five more minutes. She just wanted to sleep. The housekeeper, Jelia kept the children working from dawn to dusk. She felt that if they were able they should all maintain the house. No one was exempt, not even Princess Vilandra. Alyssa sighed again and sat up. She smiled at Reanna and Vilandra who were still sleeping. She liked to wake up before the house. Part of her chores was to pick the wild mushrooms in the fields to sell them in the market. Early morning was her favorite time of the day. She loved the peace, she felt like the only person in the whole world. It was nice. She got dressed and went downstairs to get her shoes. Jelia made them keep their shoes on the stoop, not wanting them to trail dirt and filth into the house. Alyssa took a basket from the kitchen and went outside. She picked in the field until she was gritty and sweaty. She looked at the pond that was past the pasture, she grinned and made a split decision.
“Where did Alyssa go?” Zan took a hot muffin from the oven. “AH!”
Jelia slapped his hand, “Too hot for you, boy. You aren’t invincible.”
“I know,” Zan smirked, “Have you seen Alyssa?”
“Not this morning, but today is market day. She’s probably picking mushrooms. You can go and get her.” Zan’s face lit up, “After your chores.”
Reanna snorted, and sat down next to Vilandra waiting for her own breakfast to be ready.
“You, young lady, don’t you have chores in the garden today?” Jelia raised her eyebrows.
“Yes, Jelia.” Maria looked properly chastised. She winked at Vilandra when Jelia’s back was turned.
“You children, I even get an honest day’s work from the lot of you. That Rath always running off and no one finding him for days and you two,” she pointed at them with her stirring spoon, “lazing about the house, and Zan too busy mooning over that Alyssa, whose got her head in the clouds, and Aiden, always playing games and never doing his chores, and Kelon suspicious of every person that comes knocking. It’s a wonder this farm runs at all” She muttered.
“Oh, but Jelia you love us all, even if were are flawed characters.” Aiden announced from the door. Vilandra smiled at him.
“Sit down you and eat your breakfast. I don’t know what to do about that girl she never eats.”
“Don’t worry, Alyssa can take of herself.” Reanna stated matter of factly.
“Oh, that I’m sure of.” Jelia laughed.
“Serena, may I go now?” Zan rushed back into the kitchen.
“Done with your chores already?” Zan blushed to the tips of his ears.
“Not exactly.” He looked at the floor.
Jelia gave in, “As long as they’re done before the day ends. Off you go.”
“Thank you!” Zan ran out the door.
Alyssa realized that she was too cold to stay in the water anymore and decided to get out and go home. She walked up the sandy bank her sopping wet petticoat sticking to her legs, she tried to pull it away but it kept sticking. She hated wet clothes.
“Did you lose something?” Alyssa jumped about a foot into the air, she looked at the man holding her clothes and basket. She snatched her things from his hands.
“No, you took them.” She clutched her clothes to her chest.
“Then I apologize.” He bowed and smiled at her. His eyes were a deep purple, she felt like she could drown in them. They were like whirpools.
“I accept,” she nodded her head regally.
“I am so relieved. May I know who I am apologizing to?”
“My name is Alyssa.”
“Just Alyssa?”
She shrugged. “ And you are?”
“I am Kivar, Lord of these lands here,” He gestured to the opposite side of the pond. Alyssa tried to curtsy but she got tangled in her skirts and tripped, Kivar’s hand shot out and caught her. His touch gave her the goose bumps, she stopped liking him instantly.
“Hey!” She turned around to see Zan standing behind them. “What do you think you’re doing?” He pulled Alyssa away from Kivar and put his arm around her shoulders.
“Why good sir, the lady and I were simply talking,” Kivar was all smooth courtier. “What is your relation to her?” There was a deafening silence in the woods, to Alyssa’s imagination as everyone waited for Zan’s answer, it seemed even the cosmos were waiting to see what the young prince would say.
Zan looked at Alyssa and spoke “She’s my betrothed.” Alyssa nearly choked, she managed not to say a word, she tried to look like she was really Zan’s betrothed.
“I did not notice a ring signifying such on her finger” Kivar raised his eyebrow, how dare this impudent youth, try to make a claim on something he had already decided he must have. He was going to have the dark haired angel if it was the last thing he did.
“I- that is-it’s-“ Zan stumbled trying to think of why Alyssa wouldn’t have a ring.
“We couldn’t afford one.” Alyssa cut in.
“Ah, yes the trials of peasants. I see.” He nodded, and ran his finger along Alyssa’s jaw line, making Zan tense up, “If you ever need anything my house is just there,” he pointed, “After all being a nobleman’s wife is better than being a peasant’s wife, any day.” He grinned at Zan, who stiffened and glared at him.
“Love is more important than any riches I could ever need,” Alyssa told him resolutely. He nodded and walked away.
“Are you alright? You’re cold and you’re pale.” Zan rubbed Alyssa’s arms.
“I just-“ she didn’t know where to begin. She leaned into Zan’s warmth, feeling safe for the moment.
“Never mind, it’s not important,” he hugged her, “I didn’t like him. Sorry… about before… you know saying we were… and we’re not-“ Alyssa shushed him.
“Don’t mind that , it would have been nice, if we were…” She trailed off.
Zan grabbed her hands, “Alyssa, I swear to you when this is all over I’m going to tell my father that I won’t marry Ava. I will give up the throne if I have to. I am going to marry you. Only you.”
Alyssa smiled, tears welling in her eyes, “ Truly? Oh, Zan.” She knew that they were living on borrowed time and there was no way his father would break the engagement to Ava but she would deal with that later. She had Zan now, Ava was on another planet and Alyssa was here with Zan.
“Plus, the engagement’s already off, it was broken the minute he started this civil war. They aren’t going to let Ava marry me only to be murdered.” Zan stated.
“Oh, well that’s just a lovely sentiment.” Alyssa rolled her eyes. “But they would let me marry you and be murdered, yes?”
“No!” Zan looked horrified, “I wouldn’t let you get hurt. Besides,” he flung his arm out, “We’re here and we don’t even know what is going on in the revolution anyway.

Part 7:
He crumpled the message in his hand. His spies at the palace were proving utterly useless. Zan had disappeared and no one knew where he was. Useless fools, he would have to have them disposed of and soon. How could the “royal tutors” not accompany the royal children? No matter he would deal with Serena and Plurin in due time. Right now, he needed to focus. How could he get rid of the boy with Alyssa, his angel? He knew that if he could get Alyssa away from the peasant, that she would see why being with him would be so much better. He knew that he had bigger fish to fry but he couldn’t really care, not while he didn’t have the one most important thing in the world. He knew that he would get her, he just had to have a good plan. He smiled and went inside to formulate a plan.
*****
Alyssa laughed as the village children ran around and tried to play an extremely disorganized game of tag. She smiled and lifted the huge basket of goods, trying to make it easier to carry. She sighed, the only thing she hated about being a peasant, so to speak was the work. As a nobleman’s daughter she had an entire staff to fulfill her every need and desire. As a peasant girl, she had no one and nothing but herself.
“Alyssa, dearie!” the local dressmaker called, “When are you coming in for a new gown?”
“When you give me one for free!” Alyssa called back. The dressmaker laughed. Even though the planet’s technology was so advanced the people in rural areas lived like they were part of Antar’s past. They hardly saw or knew about the technology that was literally at any noble born person’s fingertips. Alyssa thought this was part of the reason for the revolution, it wasn’t fair that some villagers had to use the old glow stick lights, when there were longer lasting and brighter ones for sale in the palace city. The palace city may as well have been another planet for all that these people knew. No one was admitted without a keypass. A keypass that was a passport that only the very wealthy merchants could afford. The idea was that way only the best products could be sold and bought in palace city. So, the poorer merchants could only sell to the local villages and thus only made the gap between the wealthy and poor bigger. Alyssa bumped into someone, she was so involved in her thoughts.
“Sorry,” she mumbled and bobbed a curtsy. She looked up. “Oh, hello.” She nodded at the butcher. He grunted in reply and she stepped around him.
“Alyssa!” She saw Reanna at the booth where they set up their vegetables and jogged over to her, letting her take the heavy basket and began helping her arrange the things they had brought to sell. She smiled as she saw Rath, leading their two horses who were pulling the spring harvest. She was sad that they only had two horses, she missed being able to ride. Her own horse, Winter, was back at her summer house. She barely remembered what the house looked like. She brushed her hair away from her face and smiled, waiting for the first customer of the day.
*******
“Oh, my god. I am so tired. I could sleep until next week. It’s like that time, we went shopping with Vilandra and we went to 48 different dress shops.” Reanna grimaced and rubbed her aching back. “Do you remember that?” She looked over at Alyssa who seemed to be staring at something pretty intently. She looked in that direction, “Oh.” Zan of course. Who else would make Alyssa look so love struck. Oh Lord, give me patience. “Alyssa. Hello?” Reanna waved her hand in Alyssa’s face.
“Hmmm?” Alyssa asked absently.
“Yes. You. I am speaking to you.” Reanna, figured short simple sentences would be best at this point.
“Me… I see..” Alyssa nodded to Reanna and walked off to talk to Zan.
“Right. Well, I am just going to go run in front of a carriage, maybe that will get your attention, you silly girl.” Reanna sighed, “Puppy love, what can I do?” She grinned and made her way home, where she had a nice soft bed just begging her to sleep in it.
“Hello,” Alyssa glanced shyly up at Zan.
“Hello, to you.” He took her hand and they began walking home. Zan decided to take the long way. All of this was noted by a watchful pair of violet eyes.
******
“Damn it!” the King thundered, “HOW IS IT THAT WE DON’T KNOW A GODDAMNED THING ABOUT THIS LEADER!!!! WE DON’T EVEN KNOW HIS NAME!!!!” He slammed his fist down on the table, making the chancellor closet to him jump.
“Your Majesty, there is nothing to know, every rebel we capture has a different story. Even the Oracles are keeping quiet on this one,” one of the Chancellors murmured.
“DOES IT LOOK LIKE I BLOODY CARE? I WANT THIS REVOLUTION QUASHED! NOW!! DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!” he stormed out of the war room.
The Chancellor who had spoken, sunk into his chair and placed his head in his hands, “How can we stop a ghost?”
“We will do what we can.”
“What options do we have?”
“We could always utilize Operation E49605.”
“Send the clones to Earth?”
“No, it’s too soon! Something could go wrong, we need more time to test and verify the project.”
“Yes, I agree, we simply cannot and will not rush into something as risky as that.”
“We will have to think of something else.”
The chancellors argued and discussed their options until well after dawn the next day. They had reached no obvious solution to the growing issue of the revolution, which was quickly turning into a civil war. The king was useless, if only Zan were here. They could perhaps convince the old king to retire. Zan would take the throne and he could implement the changes the planet so desperately needed. The people would probably back down if they knew that the young Prince was now King and they would accept him, especially if they believed he would bring change. Antar was a planet that needed a rightful heir to the throne in charge. A usurper would only last a short time before the people called for the rightful monarch to return. The only problem with their solution was that the King disagreed with their plan and had sent Zan into hiding. The only person who knew where he was were his parents. So it was a useless endeavor. They sighed and went back to their beds, where their wives were anxious with waiting to hear of good news, news of an answer to a problem of which there was no solution. The path to justice is never a free and easy path, many must give up their freedom and face hardships so that justice may survive.

Part 8: One year later…. (A/N Just to be clear, the kids are now about 17/18 years old and they are pretty mature for their ages so… yeah…)
Zan looked down at Alyssa “Are you sure?”
“Yes of course I’m sure.” She stared up at him, her eyes pleading.
“I just don’t know, we could get hurt.” Zan reasoned
“I’m fine, nothings going to go wrong.” Alyssa reassured him.
“If you say so…” Zan jumped from the tree into the cold water below. He rose to the surface hearing cheers and claps from his friends.
“Wow, you made that look harder than it was.” Aiden laughed
“Never knew you were afraid of heights, buddy.” Rath smirked.
“Ha ha ha. This water is freezing why did I want to do this again?” Zan looked at the faces of his friends, family and the love of his life.
“Because sometimes you have to make a leap of faith to get where you want to go.” Alyssa smiled at him.
“Oh… I see” Zan nodded pretending to be the fool of the group, he swam a little bit away and dove under the water, he swam as far and as fast as he could from the group. When he came up for air they were far away and were looking at the water below them trying to find him. He laughed and stayed low on the water’s surface.
“Oh lord, lets just forget about him anyway, he’s only trying to scare us. He’s probably hiding in some marsh watching us and waiting for the hysterics he thinks we’ll have when we can’t find him.” Vilandra looked around disinterestedly.
“Sure…” Aiden looked at her and sighed.
“I’m bored with swimming, I thought that summer was supposed to be fun! This is not fun!” Reanna stated.
“What did YOU want to do?” Rath asked annoyed.
“I don’t know! I just want to get out, to go somewhere all this watching and waiting is driving me insane!”
“Well… there’s nothing we can do about it really.” Alyssa stated logically and calmly.
“Could you be any more unfeeling! Alyssa! We don’t even know if our parent’s are still alive!” Reanna was starting to get upset, didn’t anyone care at all about what was going on in city.
“What? I’m not un-feeling! I just can’t sit here and mope all day! Thinking about my FATHER being dead somewhere! I WON’T DO IT!” Alyssa waded out of the water and walked away.
“Reanna do you have to make a bad situation worse?” Rath glared at her.
“What? I wasn’t doing that, why doesn’t anyone want to talk about what is going on? Everyone acts like they don’t care. Look at us, we’ve been here for practically two years. We haven’t heard a word, not a single letter or courier. There’s been nothing! Does anyone even understand what that means? It means-“
Aiden cut her off, “It means that they are probably focusing on helping Antar and not worrying about our safety when they shouldn’t have to. Don’t you think that Antar is more important than us sitting here?” Aiden shook his head and started swimming away.
Reanna shook her head, but she didn’t say another word. Vilandra waved her hands through the water and stared at them. She wished to stay in her home, with her parents and friends. She hated this stupid planet, but she knew better than to complain, especially since it was her safety at stake. She sighed and made her way out of the water knowing that their brief interlude was over, why did they even bother to try and enjoy themselves when it was always upset by the same question that plagued them all. It wasn’t just Reanna everyone was starting to have their doubts and she was among the biggest doubters. Two years was a really long time to go without any outside contact. Even though at home their whole lives had been each other there was still contact from the outside world. Now their world’s were solely on the small band of friends.
Alyssa stomped her way through the forest. What did Reanna think she was doing? She had to go and RUIN a perfect time! Everyone was having fun and she had to go and ruin it! Alyssa sighed and slowed down. She had left in such a huff she didn’t even know where she had walked to, she looked around and tried to get her bearings. She noticed at clearing ahead of her and went towards it. She looked around, she had walked much faster and farther than she had thought. She was deep in the woods. She was pretty far from the village and her house, she saw a road and recognized it as the road that had taken them all here. All she had to do was follow it to the Palace City and she would be able to see her father and hear some news. She looked behind her and sighed but she couldn’t just leave everyone and she might put them all in danger. She turned towards the village and started walking, she felt a slight rumbling of the earth and wondered what it could be. The rumbling got stronger and she felt like she could actually hear the ground shaking.
Alyssa looked around to see what could be the cause of all the noise.
“Watch out girl!” A man yelled, Alyssa turned and then the world went black.
“Oh, lord help us, we’ve killed her,” the man who had yelled at her looked down at her.
“No, we haven’t Yulon. Don’t be such a fool, gods! We’ll take her with us. HE can do something for her I’m sure. Since HE’s all powerful.” The leader of the guard decided.
Where were those unreliable guardsmen/spies? It was well after sunset. He should have known better than to trust others, he was going to find each and every one of them and kill them all.
“Sir!” The young guard, Yulon came rushing in. “There was this girl and I couldn’t stop my horse in time and she is here with us and she is unconscious.” He saluted.
“What?” Kivar stared at the guard, “Where is Gilorn?”
“Outside, sir, with the girl.”
“What girl?” Kivar stood up. “Never mind, I’ll go see for myself.” He walked to his courtyard and saw the must beautiful vision he had ever seen. “Alyssa.” He sighed her name.
“What the hell were you thinking!” he thundered turning to Yulon,
“Nothing-sir we- I- couldn’t see her-“ Yulon cowered.
“Couldn’t see her! Couldn’t see her! Everyone leave! Now! I’ll tend to the girl!” He picked Alyssa up and carried her inside.
Gilorn noticed his leader’s violent reaction to the girl and wondered who she could be. He bit his cheek in thought, was it possible the great leader had a weakness after all? He shook his head, he certainly wasn’t going to get involved in something so dangerous as to expose the leader of the rebellion’s weakness. Especially [his.]
****
Zan paced around the large kitchen, like a nervous hen. “Where is she? I looked over the whole damn forest for her! How can she even be out this late?”
“Maybe we should go look for her.” Vilandra was starting to get nervous now, she knew that Alyssa would take awhile to cool down, but this… this was…. so unlike her.
“What we should have done was looked for her HOURS ago!” Rath was getting frustrated with this. What the hell were they deliberating about? His sister could be dead or hurt or- “I’m going to look for her, the rest of you can stay here and talk about it some more!” He stormed out. The group was right behind him.
They searched the wood and surrounding area until sunrise. Their throats were hoarse from calling Alyssa’s name. Zan and Rath most of all. Reanna had been crying from fear or frustration for the last three hours. No one had very much left in them. Zan and Rath were determined to look until they found her. They were both practically falling over from exhaustion, but they refused to give up. Aiden noticed a house and managed a hoarse shout. They ran to the front door and pounded. When the door opened, Zan froze and stared at the man in front of them.
“Yes? Can I help you?” He smiled almost kindly, but his smile gave Vilandra goosebumps.
“We are looking for my sister, she’s about 18 years of age, and very small-ish and she has dark hair and brown eyes.” Rath stated.
“Long dark hair and she’s about this tall” Zan gestured with his hand, elaborating. “Her name is Alyssa…” Zan hadn’t moved an inch and he suddenly remembered where he knew this man from. “You know her! You know who I’m talking about!” He exclaimed.
“What?” The man looked at Zan like he was crazy.
“You’re Kivar! I remember you!” Zan was getting pretty upset now.
“Oh, yes…” Kivar nodded, “I remember the pretty village girl from a few days ago. You’re her fiancé, yes?” He looked at Zan expectantly.
“Yes.” Zan stared at him, answering without hesitation.
“Anyways, what they mean to say. Or what we mean to ask really is if you have seen her, since you obviously know who we are talking about and well she was around this area last and you’re the only other house around here, well besides ours and she’s not there so-“
Rath cut Reanna off, “Have you seen her or not?”
“ I just told you that I didn’t” Kivar answered.
“Are you sure? You haven’t seen a single person or any sign of her?” Aiden questioned.
“You must really want to find her,” Kivar sighed, “I’m sure that she is probably sleeping at a villager’s home, she might have been too tired to come all the way home, if she was as you say in this area. But I promise that if I see her, I will deliver her to you personally.” He nodded. “Have a good day, I’m sure she will be home as soon as she wakes up.” He shut the door.
“How rude.” Vilandra stared at the door.
“OH! I don’t think so! No one shuts a door in my face!” Reanna grabbed the knocker. Rath pulled her back.
“I don’t think he was lying, maybe he is right. The villagers love Alyssa she might have been too tired to come home last night, or too angry…” Rath sent a look to Reanna.
“No. I don’t trust him. He was lying.” Zan stated emphatically.
“Zan why would he lie?” Vilandra asked exasperated. She was tired.
“You should have seen him! The snake, he was all over Alyssa touching her hand, and being all sly and suave!”
“Zan, you’re just jealous, I’m sure he wouldn’t keep Alyssa from her family. In fact, he wouldn’t- couldn’t be able to keep Alyssa there against her will. So let’s just go home because I am absolutely not going another step unless it’s directly to my bed.” Vilandra said, using her princess tone.
“I agree, we aren’t getting anything accomplished standing here on his doorstep.” Aiden said logically.
“Fine.” Zan walked away.
“He’s just upset…” Vilandra tried to reason.
“UPSET?” Rath stared at her, “My sister is MISSING!” He stormed off.
Four Months Later:
Reanna sat by the window staring out into the rain. It was her turn to watch. Everyday since Alyssa had disappeared one of them would sit at the window and watch for her. She never came. Reanna cried every night and Zan was absolutely impossible he would wander off for days, convinced that he could find her in the woods. He hadn’t given up on her yet, Rath had been unmanageable for the first months then he had shut himself off, any time someone mentioned Alyssa he would break something on accident or purpose no one knew. Aiden hadn’t made a single joke in months and Vilandra wasn’t snobby or petty, she was just… quiet. The whole house was just quiet. Alyssa’s disappearance was slowly killing all of them. She knew that they would function on the outside but on the inside was another story. She sighed and looked out again. She squinted at some figures in the distance and noticed a black carriage quickly approaching. She stood up. “What on Antar?” She whispered and ran through the house to the front gate.
Vilandra saw Reanna running out of the house and followed her, maybe… She stood at the front door, which Reanna had left open in her haste. Reanna was getting drenched.
Reanna stood panting and dripping in the rain, she went to the gate and pulled it open and waited. The carriage slowed as it neared her. She stepped back, not sure that she really wanted to know what or who was inside. The door opened.
“MOTHER!!!” Reanna jumped into her mother’s arms.
Vilandra stared in wonder as Reanna and her mother held each other tight, both getting soaked in the rain. She stood motionless as her father stepped from the carriage and began to walk towards her.
“ZAN! RATH! AIDEN! Come here RIGHT NOW!” She yelled still watching her father approach her.
Rath was there first, “Oh.” He stood rigid waiting. Zan and Aiden both arrived and Zan stared at his father, wishing that he had more time. All he needed was time. He had felt her in the woods, it was like she was there but not her. He shook his head confused at his own thoughts.
“Son,” his father nodded at him. Vilandra looked at her father, and he grabbed her and hugged her. “I’ve missed you both so! There is much news, we must go inside.” He led them all in. Reanna and Athemia made their way back to the house.
“Mother… we-“ Reanna tried to explain.
“Hush, darling. Everything will be just fine you’ll see.” She smiled and put her arm around Reanna’s shoulder.

Part 9:
“So, what you’re saying is that we can come home?” Vilandra stared at her father.
“Yes,” the king nodded and looked at Zan.
“Where is my daughter?” A voice boomed from the doorway, Rath’s father stood smiling at his son.
“Father you might want to sit down.” Rath looked up at him. “I don’t know how to tell you this but… “
“Where is Alyssa?” his father asked again quietly, sitting down across from Rath.
“That’s the thing father, Alyssa she’s- she’s not here.” Rath finished lamely.
“Not here?”
“Well, no. Actually we don’t- I- she’s missing.” Rath shrugged and looked away.
“Missing?”
“What do you mean missing?” Athemia asked, reaching for Valeron’s hand.
“She’s gone.” Vilandra stated, “She’s been gone for months. We’ve looked everywhere, and we can’t find her.” She stated, biting her lips.
“Gone?” Jalen repeated blankly. Rath nodded. The King sat up and stared at his son. He knew his son was hurting but now he could use the girl’s disappearance to his advantage and hasten the engagement to Princess Ava. Any alignment he could have with another planet would be to their benefit. He sighed and patted his son’s shoulder.
“We’ll send out a full search contingent, and they will find her.” He nodded briskly liking the way he sounded, he purposely gentled his voice “but right now we really need you to come home.” He looked at Zan, then at the others, “All of you.”
“Yes, we should all go home and let the professionals handle it. I won’t rest until we’ve found her. I promise.” Valeron added.
*******

“Wha- whe- where am I?” She opened her eyes and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. Why couldn’t she remember anything? Was this her home? She sat up and looked around the dimly lit room. She gasped when she saw a man sleeping in a chair by her bed. She pulled the covers up to her chin. Did she know him? Was he supposed to be in here? He murmured and shifted positions, waking up. He glanced over at her and jumped out his chair when he saw her sitting up. She backed up against the headboard.
“P- p- please don’t hurt me!”
“What are you doing awake? Are you alright? Are you hurt?” He looked fierce.
“N-n-n-no” She stammered out.
“Oh, good.” He let out a huge breath and sunk back into his chair. He leaned his forearms on his legs and leaned forward. He didn’t seem like he wanted to hurt her maybe he knew who she was.
“Ex-cuse me?” She licked her lips, trying not to sound like such a mouse. “Who am I?”
“What?” he stared at her.
“Do you know who I am?”
“You don’t remember who you are?” He looked at her intently. She shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. “Don’t! Don’t cry!” He rushed to the bed and sat next to her.
“What happened to me?!!!” She looked at him.
“You had an… accident, a riding accident,” he embellished. He had her, she had no recollection of her life prior to her accident. This was even more perfect than he had imagined. For the past four months he had watched over her as she had raged with fever. She had been so close to the edge, he wasn’t sure she would make it. He had dropped his battle with the king. There were other planets and other times. She was more important. She always would be. He was in love with her, he had been since that day by the lake. He had found the best healer he could and had forced him to reside in his home until she was well. Now, she was awake, and looking only a little worse for the wear. Still, beautiful, she would be beautiful to him until the day she died. He smiled gently and rubbed her back.
“You must have hit your head somehow. I’ll fetch the healer and we can see what he has to say. Alright?” he asked. She nodded, silently watching him leave the room. She took the time alone to study the room. She must be very wealthy, or he was because the room was perfect. It was lavish and beautiful the beddings were all cream silk and gold brocade. The walls were patterened with gold and there were beautiful things everywhere. She looked at the vanity and noticed a few womanly items, an ivory hairbrush and matching hair comb, a wash basin that was very feminine in design. This must be my room, she thought.
“Ah hello dear.” The healer walked over to her, he was an older gentleman with kind blue eyes and a sweet smile. She liked him and she could tell he was trustworthy. He felt all around her head, looking for swelling or bumps. She looked over at the man who she had first seen, he looked almost… what was that expression? Jealous, he was jealous of the healer? She closed her eyes and tried to block out all of her thoughts. She tried to remember something, all she could see was black there was nothing there.
“Hmmm. Nnnnyeeesss. Mmmmhmmm” The healer made little noises while he examined her head. He stood back, “I can’t find any physical evidence to the effect that you might have lost you memory.” He looked at the man, “Memory loss is tricky it could take days or even years. I would like to be perfectly honest here, but I wouldn’t want to alarm her Ladyship.” He looked as if he was asking her permission to continue. She was a ladyship? She nodded at the healer. “It might never come back at all, more often than not the victim just continues with their life and the memory returns over time. My best advice is just to start living now. It’s very important that you don’t spend all your strength trying to regain your memory. You just got over a very severe illness and you should focus on making yourself better. Enjoy your life, make new memories with this young man. The rest will come in time.” He smiled and beckoned to her man (?) to come out. They spoke briefly and quietly, the healer left shortly after and he came back in.
“I- I don’t know your name.” She whispered, he heard her.
“I’m Khivar.” He smiled at her.
“Oh.” She looked down, she didn’t have even an ounce of recognition from that name. She sighed.
He ran his hand down her hair, “Don’t worry, your memory will return in time.” He ran his hand through her hair one last time and left her. ‘Alyssa, dear, your memory will never return if I have anything to say about it.’ He grinned and went about to make plans for his new life… with Alyssa.
The crowning ceremony went by in a blur for Zan, he only remembered answering when he was supposed to and then greeting his father and family. He was finally old enough to accept his throne, he was 21 now. He remembered the smirk on his father’s face as he had watched Zan take the throne. After being crowned, Zan had listened to his father tell him that on the day of the masquerade he would announce his engagement to Princess Ava. He had seriously thought about committing murder and killing his father but his mother had laid her hand on his arm and mouthed the word “Later” so when Ava began to paste herself all over him, he had pushed her off.
“You will NOT touch me, until the engagement is announced.” He glared at her. He hated her, he wished that Alyssa could be there. Why wasn’t she there? Because it had been too long, three years was too long, his father had told the search parties that they could come home and that the search was over. Lady Alyssa was never coming home, wherever she was. The celebrations would take place over seven days, the first day being for the Royal Court and nobility, the second being a masquerade ball for the visiting dignitaries, the third was a pinic in the woods and games, the fourth was for him to meet his council and have a day at court, the sixth was a chance for all the visiting dignitaries to tour Antar, and the seventh day the palace was opened to the common people. It was a lovely idea, but just the thought of going through all of that with Ava pawing all over him made him sick to his stomach. He took a deep breath and stared his father down, his father ignored him of course. After the ceremony was over Zan went straight to his room and fell asleep dreading the next seven days.
