Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Get out. Breate. Get out. Breathe. Get out. Break free. Breathe. Breathe. Get out. Breakfree. Get out. Escape. Live...
He pushed out of his pod, one arm twisted tearing the thin membrane and the liquid rushed out disappearing across the floor. He broke through the remainder of the membrane and landed on the cold floor. He shivered as his warn skin touched the metal. He rolled over and his eyes wandered his birth place. There were three other pods like his, two of them were broken and long cold and the third was still forming. A small creature inside it floating.
His hands pressed to the floor as he slowly stood up, he felt a cold draught coming from one of the walls and he could barely make out stars. He took one last look at the cave and climbed out into the desert.

She pulled her belt out and Michael moved, he couldn't run. There was no where to run.
"You little freak!" hissed the woman dressed in a fine black suit. She had pudding down her front. A bowl lay on the floor near an upturned table and the spoon was covered in cream.
"I sorry! I sorry!" he cried "I don't do it gain!" he cowered in a corner
"Damn right!" she said before swinging the belt round hitting him in the back. He howled in pain and tears ran down his face as she beat him. When she was done she straightened her clothes and tried to brush off the desert that had ended up on her. The pudding and cream landed on his bruising cheek, he whimpered hard before she cleared her throat and looked to a window
"He used his powers. Bring in the scientists" she said menacingly "He really is one of those... things" she spat at him before leaving the room.

He could see their footprints in the sand, they had been here but they were long gone. Something told him to keep walking, he had to be with the others. He felt so frightened and alone. He heard a rustle in the bush and turned to see what it was. He looked round and couldn't see the cliff he had come from. He was lost! He spun round again, whatever was out there knew he was there and was toying with him. He broke out into a little jog, moving faster than his slow paced trek. He reached a metal fence and looked back in fear before trying to get through it. He cut his leg and his shoulder on the barbed wire. He heard something bark and he ducked under and continued running. He stood on the smooth black path and wondered why it was different to the path he had been walking on, he didn't think about it too long because a coyote jumped out at him. He fell back and raised his arm, the beast howled as it was blasted. It landed down and ran off whining in pain. He clambered to his feet, he didn't like this place! He should have stayed at the cave! He saw light like the ones above him but they got bigger and bigger. A car pulled up in front of him, the door opened and it had the FBI logo on the door.

Six year old Maria Thomson pulled the blankets from her brother's bed. Her brother was ten years older than her and a pain in the butt
"Justin!" she whined "Just'n!" he jerked awake and looked around
"Huh? What? What's wrong Ria?" he looked down at her "Mom gone again?"
"I dunno. I had a bad dream can I sleep in bed with you?" she asked. She was wearing one of his shirts and it was down to her knees. His mom had been gone for a few days and he didn't expect her to be back any time soon. She was too busy with her "special projects". He pulled the covers back onto the bed and held them open for his baby sister to climb in. She grinned and ran out the room. She came back a few minutes later carrying Huggy Bear, Piggy and her favourite teddy he had won her at a fair. She shoved them into the bed and then climbed in after them. Justin shook his head and put his arm around her and all her Teds
"Don't let mommy hurt me again" she whispered and he looked up at her
"What?"
"In my dream mommy was hurting me. She was so horrible, I didn't mean to spill the pudding"
"Hey Ria Chia no one is going to hurt you as long as I'm around? Okay?"
"Ok Jusin" she said as she curled back up into him. Ten minutes later Ria was fast asleep. He climbed out of bed and stood by the window.
Their mom was an FBI agent, his grandmother had been a kind and caring sixties flower child. Amy Thomson, however rebelled against the free love and peace for all her mother raised upon her. She took the role of her father and began a Federal Agent. She was dedicated to her work, she barely knew that she had a daughter. Justin looked to his sister and felt a parental stirring inside him. He had practically raised her, it was no wonder it was he she came to when she had bad dreams. It was he who had her booster seat in the back of his car. It was him who nursed her when she was sick. She sometimes called him dad
"Jussin" she murmured and he hurried back over to her. She stirred then woke up and began crying. He lifted her tiny form into his arms and held her while she cried.
"It's okay" he whispered
"I don't wants to stay here anymore! Please! Alquerque's bad! We hafta go way" she begged "Please!" she cried.
"We can't. Not without mom"
"No! Mom will take you way from me! Don't let her do dat!" she cried
"I won't Ria Chia" he promised her as he hugged her close. She winced and he looked down at her. Her cheek was cut "Who did that to you?"
"Nothing I fell" she lied "No one did it. I fell"
"Did mom do this?"
"No I fell over. She didn't hit me wit the belt" she said. Justin sighed. He would do anything to protect his daughter...
He put her down on the bed and pulled out his case from under the bed. He began shoving clothes into it as fast as he could, he pulled open his top draw and took the tin out placing it on the top. He opened it and grabbed the wad of notes. It should be enough to get them to the next town.
"Maria... we're going to go away for a while. Okay? We're going to go to Roswell and stay with some of my friends from Football Camp?"
"Okay Justin"
"It'll be okay" he said as he shoved the wad into one of his socks. He hurried to her tiny box room and pulled out her clothes and carried them to back to his room and just shoved them into the case before he zipped it up tight. He pulled his shoes on and tied the laces quickly then he found Maria's shoes. They were behind the toilet as usual. He shoved them on and thanks god that some people had enough sense to make kiddie shoes with velcro.
"We're going to only be able to take three teddies. You can put Huggy Bear and Piggy in my backpack and I can carry Terry Eddy"
"Okay" she nodded. He grabbed his backpack from by the door and dumped the contents out and shoved her two favourite teddies inside. He carried that and the suitcase out to the hall and set them down as he pulled her coat on and fastened it up against the cold. He pulled his on and carried the case out to the car. He shoved it on the trunk then carried her out and fastened her into her booster seat. He took one look at the family home and backed out of the driveway. Maria just smiled
"Don't worry Michael. We're coming" she whispered as she wiggled her toes.
