My immortal- from the album Fallen
By Evanescence

I’m so tired of being here
Suppressed by all of my childhood fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
Because your presence still lingers here
And it won’t leave me alone

These wounds won’t seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There’s just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears
And I’ve held your hand through all those years
But you still have all of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
But now I’m bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

These wounds won’t seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There’s just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears
And I’ve held your hand through all those years
But you still have all of me

I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone
And though you’re still with me
I’ve been alone all along

Chapter One

Have you had a moment in your life when you don’t feel anything? I have…Liz thought as the coldness of the night washed over her body. Her stomach grumbled but she ignored the hot bile wanting to rise up her throat. She was lying in bed and twisted the sheets around her body in an attempt to calm herself to sleep.

Alex is dead, and they say it’s a suicide. She said to herself, but no feeling rushed to her soul. Lately, she hadn’t been feeling anything. It was like a sheer bubble filled with nerve gas surrounded her body. Nothing affected her. When she lied to Max at the prom, she felt nothing. Like she was a dead body walking around with no life inside her.
Truth is, she was suffocating.

But not from Max’s love, Liz thought. That was the problem. Max didn’t love her anymore, and that was suffocating her sheer existence.
The night was still young as Liz pushed the blanket over her body. She thought over what happened a few hours ago that had changed her life, forever.

She had to see Max, her heart was crying out to him. And she thought that even though they were no longer lovers that somehow Max could heal the wounds still fresh in her heart. That somehow Max would take away all her pain and doubts and for a brief moment she could forget about everything and feel something?

How could she be so naive? She knew it was stupid and foolish of her to visit Max so late at night. But she was not herself anymore; she had been changing for a long time. Sacrificing your happiness does that to you. Some days Liz wished that when she fell asleep that somehow she wouldn’t remember how to wake up and be left in a place where dreams could still come true. Liz could still see Max’s face when she stood there outside his window. Lost, cold, wet and afraid. Liz let her guard down, too much has happened. She wanted to feel real.

Liz hadn’t felt real since she left Max at the pod chamber when she should have stood by him. Once a face filled with innocence and a child like thoughts now was masked with the coldness of reality and the weight of the world on your shoulders. No longer did Max have the smile that took her breath away. It was buried underneath the lines of stress and the bags of sleepless nights underneath his puffy dull amber eyes, no longer burning like molten heat when they were together. And yet, compared to all those factors he was still himself. Liz felt so stupid when her stomach interrupted their awkward silence. He was so concerned when Liz told him she hadn’t eaten that Liz nearly broke into tears when she ate cold macaroni cheese with him in the kitchen.

The food, once as an act of kindness turned to ash in Liz mouth when Max tried to explain himself about the prom, and Tess. She told him not to worry. That they have both moved on. Truth was, none of them did.
Liz felt trapped inside a quiet house with Max, who no longer loved her. Her parents were still in Santa Fe. So, going home to an equally alone house wasn’t an option for her.

Liz smiled to herself. Who knew that this was going to happen? She looked down at Max’s sleeping body. His contours of his face had an expression of peace all over his face.
When Max asked her in the kitchen what was wrong with her. She told him.
“So much has happened. Max…. So much…and I feel nothing. I just want to feel,”
“Me too, Liz.” Max replied
.

Liz smiled again as she remembered what happened. She pushed Max’s pillow to one side and spooned her naked body against him. Feeling whole when he slid his arms around her, his warm hands lightly grazing her breasts. She felt Max kiss the back of her forehead. Warm heat was spreading throughout her body. She forced her mind to take in everything that happened to her this night. For she knew that tomorrow, nothing will be the same again. With that thought, she fell asleep with Max’s arms around her.

Chapter Two

Layers off thick blankets heaped over her body. Liz grumbled. She hated waking up to a migraine. What was even worse was her whole body ached. It was like tiny pieces of ice jabbed individually around her soft flesh. Groggily, Liz struggled to see through the blur that her vision created when she finally opened her eyes. It was around eight thirty in the morning.

Shit, She thought. She untangled the sheets around her legs and crouched down beside the bed and looped on her underwear and blue converse pants. Liz slipped on her bra, white shirt and gray zip jacket Fumbling in her jacket she flipped out a hair tire and looped her straggly hair into a loose bun, slipped on her shoes and climbed through the window. Max was still asleep and Liz didn’t want to wake him for two reasons. She didn’t want to face the repercussions of last night, not because she regretted it but she might have caused the end of world for the second time. The second reason was that Max hadn’t slept in a long time.

Liz distracted herself by running all the way to the Crashdown in between long stops as she catches her lost breath. Her lungs stung as they burned on fire. Her body ached from last night and the migraine was making her sick and her vision blurred. She hiked up her steel rails by her balcony and quickly washed off Max’s smell and the wet sticky cobweb patches from her inner thighs.

She looked down at the long trails of love bites Max had marked on last night. It stemmed from her left breast nipple down to her inner thigh and some she could feel but couldn’t see. Drying her wet hair she looked at her reflection in the mirror. It was of a woman who had spent last night fucking Max Evans. Fucking was not the way to describe it. Liz couldn’t say it was making love either. Unless Making Love consisted of throwing, grinding and nipping at each other while pressing yourself in almost impossible positions.

Liz couldn’t get over how vocal they were either. She wasn’t able to utter a whisper from her last night cries. Liz suspected that Max must’ve let everything loose too. All that lust, anger and frustration he channeled into thrusting inside her. Liz blushed. He might not be able to speak either. That brought a slight chuckle to her face on the morning of her best friends funeral. She couldn’t believe that either. She knew Alex. He wouldn’t kill himself. Something else must have happened. Liz was wearing a pair of black hipster jeans and a black sweater. Liz spent her time tying her laces on her doc martins’ shoes and waited for her friend to pick her up.

Kyle and Maria didn’t look like themselves either, Liz thought as she got into the passenger side of the car, next to Maria who solely concentrated driving the car. There was no music to fill the silence or erase the sleep in their eyes.
It seems that everyone has changed, Liz thought. It was just her change was due to losing her innocence when Alex died and when she crossed the boundaries with Max.

Everyone parked in neat little rows as a sea of black surrounded a small gravestone, sealing the fate of their spirited friend, Alex.
And Liz was back to feeling nothing. She was watching the sad part of the movie, when even the gray clouds that blocked out the sky fitted the theme.
He must be so lonely, Liz thought. Down there, underneath the ground with no one there to hold him ever again. Or, maybe he was laughing from heaven at how everyone was acting? Liz smiled as tears pooled from her brown eyes. She liked that idea. Alex wouldn’t be sad. He would be playing pool with Mozart or something. The service had finished and so had Maria’s singing. Everyone was throwing red roses and as she saw Isabel breaking down in uncontrollable sobs it showed how truly the hybrids were human. Liz knew that Max was watching her. But she refused to meet his gaze. She would face him later.

Everyone headed back to the Whitman’s for lunch. She walked around the house that was her second home. She saw people from school, even Pam troy who cried about Alex demise.
How dare there! Liz thought. They didn’t even know him.
But what if he wasn’t dead? Liz thought. She shook her head. She tried not to think about that but as the minutes crawled by, watching Alex’s parents drowning their sorrows in salad and hamburgers she was convinced that there was something more to this. She headed into Alex’s room. His guitar and few sheets of music entitled ‘Like I love you’ on his unmade bed.

So Alex, Liz thought. Picking up the guitar she strummed the metal strings and allowed the sound filled the room. She smiled at the childhood memory of Alex trying to teach her guitar. She remembered how Alex was teaching her to play a scale on the guitar while Maria, was singing in the background. She didn’t want to learn, Liz sobbed. She remembered brining out her junior chemistry kit and did experiments with chocolate chip cookies while Maria and Alex played music.

“Help me out here, Alex.” She whispered. “Give me a sign,”
Nothing happened. Liz sighed. Leaving the guitar on the bed she was about to leave when a poetry book on Alex’s desk caught her eye. Walking up beside it, she found it kind of odd for Alex to be interested in poems. He was never into English. Flipping to the marked page she found a poem by Robert Frost entitled ‘Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening’ and read it. It didn’t make sense to Liz, and she about to drop it when two concert tickets used as a bookmark caught her eye. She smiled.
“Thank you,” She whispered and hunted down Maria to tell her the news.

Chapter Three

“Concert tickets,” Showing the group what she found in the poetry book. “Bought on the day of his death. You don’t make plans if you are going to kill yourself. You don’t make plans for the future. He was probably going to take Isabel out on a date or something,”
Liz watched everyone’s face fall.

No one believed her. It seemed to make people more upset than before. Didn’t they see? Alex didn’t kill himself? Stranger things have happened to the group more outrageous than this? Why didn’t they believe her?
Because this time, it was a close member of the group that was involved in the strange incident, and no one didn’t want to think that it was their fault.
“Maybe he was murdered or something…by an Alien!” Liz concluded. “It could be Nicolas. It could be Kevar…He’s been after Isabel since the dawn of time…”
“I don’t believe this,” Kyle whispered. “This doesn’t make sense,”
“It doesn’t need to. Because it didn’t happened,” Max had entered the room. Liz turned around. His eyes were back to dull amber.
They were not dull last night, Liz thought. She mentally slapped herself and kept her guard up.

“How can you say that!” Liz said. A flash of pain edged on her face when she saw Tess link her around Max.
“You are in pain, Liz,” Tess began.
“How would you know?” Liz dejected. Her anger slowly rose as she spoke to Tess. “Why are you even here? None of you know Alex as well as I do?”
“How dare you say that to her,” Max urged, a rumble of anger rippled through his voice. “She has been trying very hard to fit in…”
Liz crossed her arms. It was like last night never happened.

(Flash Back)
“I never stopped loving you,” Max whispered.
“Me neither,” Liz replied.

(End Flash back)

“I’m sticking by my answer,” Liz was not backing from this. Alex didn’t just die. Something was up. If Future Max was able to cut a tear through time, which is not possible by all rules of science then why can’t they believe that an alien killed Alex? Could he still be alive?
“We’re leaving,” Max, ordered. Isabel shoved Liz to one side and left with Max and Tess.
She turned to Kyle, Michael and Maria. “Something happened to Alex. And I’m going to find out,”

**
Dropping her keys in her room she was thankful that she didn’t have to run the Crashdown. Her parents hadn’t returned from Santa Fe yet, and Jose, the head chef suggested that she shouldn’t open the Crashdown until next week. It was a Friday afternoon. With the concert tickets in her hands she headed over to the lounge room. What Max had said to her, guttered her whole. She couldn’t feel anything but pain. Pain from losing her virginity, and from how much Max was angry with her. When she meant ‘alien’ she didn’t mean Max and his unit. She was aiming towards the skins, and Kevar. They knew nothing apart that they wore human spacesuits to survive on earth.
She opened the fridge door and listen to the jingle of the condiments inside.

“Liz?” A voice whispered.
Liz bumped her head on the fridge door. “Ouch,” Closing the door, she found Jim Valenti sitting on the table with the new sheriff Hanson.
“If this was about Alex….” Liz began. How could he? As if she wasn’t in enough pain Max had to call Jim to arrest her. For what? Hurting that Bitch’s feelings? Hell, she was a fucking alien. She didn’t have one feeling in one cell of her body.
Jim nodded to the seat in front of him. “You better take a seat, Miss Parker,”
Liz’s stomach turned. Something told her that this had nothing to do with Alex.

Chapter 4

“Were my parents in any pain?” Liz rasped, slurping on a cold glass of water. The sharp splinter of cold filtered through her dry throat. Dry from crying…
“No,” Jim replied.
“Actually… the impact of the semi trailer on their car caused a lot of…” Hanson began but swaolled his words when he received a sharp look from Jim.
“When?” Liz crossed her arms, rubbing the Goosebumps on her shoulders.
“Last night.” Jim said. “We tried to get in contact with you but you were…”
“Not there,” Liz finished. Grasping her hands together. “So, what happens?”
Jim leaned forwards. “Since you are already eighteen. You are considered an adult. But, There will be a meeting with your parent’s lawyer…their will.”
“Uh huh,” Liz nodded; shutting down the last shreds of her emotions How was this fair? She gave up everything, and now her parents were dead.

**

It felt like Max had broken up with her. First comes denial. Almost surreal. Sometimes Liz would forget that they were not together. Nothing happened. But then, shock, zooms back into reality and Liz found no solace in sleep anymore. Its like he broke it off with her in her bedroom. Liz could picture him, sitting on her bed with those melancholy eyes. Scanning her condiments like scanning the horizon before dawn-printing everything into memory before shit hits the fan. Liz wanted to see Max. Just to know if he was okay, to hear his voice so her soul can be settled. After all, Max had to see Alex’s dead body in order to heal him. It must’ve been cold.

Max had fucked up her routine. Nothing affected her anymore; nothing seemed like a problem that required her to act. The orals and assignment that used to frighten her in her sleep bared no impact on her now that her heart has been spilled. Then, all could she think about was the question. Why?
Why now, if he had no feelings for her now. Why did he play along? Why did he carry on like he was in love when in reality he felt nothing towards her? Or did he? Liz was confused. Nothing made any sense to her. Also the fact that all his pain came from her she was guilt ridden. If only Liz was less focused on studying for the future career. Always putting study before him. Always thinking that going into bars was not a good idea. Sometimes, when Liz looked back he treated her like a child. She carried on too much.

She would tease and grind against him but then cry out that she wasn’t ready. What a way to fuck with someone mind. If only she could turn back the clock, why did this happen. Why, it made no sense. She was leaving a dream. It was taking all of her energy not to call him. If she could just hear his voice one more time…. Is he feeing the same thing? Or did he feel nothing, didn’t give any thought and just left and move on…. What was going through his mind? Was it like her thoughts? Were they both in pain?

Why did he have to break up with her? Why? Why now? If he had been thinking about this for a while, then why did he carry on with holding her hand? Kissing her forehead or smiling at her? Glancing at her with those glossy amber eyes. The way he would look at her, Liz blushed. She was always self-conscious but now, she wished she had a high esteem or was more mature, and not mentally sixteen. She wanted to see him. She didn’t want to see him. She wanted to make him suffer. She wanted him back. She loved him. She loves him. He never loved her. She was an escape from reality, now. He must grow up and be a man and not pay attention to a child filled with dirty thoughts and innocent beliefs.

Liz knew he was working now. She could call, just as an excuse. But he would know that it was an excuse. She felt useless. Why should she go on? Why did she have to be so independent? She had nothing. He was her everything. And yet, she felt nothing. Nothing felt real, nothing felt right. She didn’t understand how to go on. Nothing makes sense, nothing, completely nothing. All she kept thinking about was to hold him. Having innocent fantasies that he would come back and they would be back together, stronger than before. Willing to make things work.

But that was just fiction. In reality, in the real world Liz had sacrificed everything, her happiness. It wasn’t a boy who was confused about his feelings for her. In this timeline, fate fucked with her mind. She and Max fucked each other, confessed their love and now. Max hated her and her parents are dead.

“Welcome to my world,” She said to herself, and laughed as she sipped on a cup of cold coffee.

**

And here she was, at the cemetery, again. Only this time it was close family and Michael. Her parents thought of him as brother. And, yet again, nothing changed. The earth still smelled musky and thick as ash. Dead bodies were decaying underneath the earth and helping things grow. Her throat was dry and it hurt to breathe. Her face felt hot and it was hard to look straight ahead. Must be a virus, her mind supplied to her. Great, just great. I get a fucking virus, I fucked Max and now I feel nothing, Liz thought. She wondered what was going on with Max? Was he fucking Tess? Just as she did to him, so he could just feel? Nah, Liz thought. If he did that he would have been pushed, literally pushed to the point of self-destruction.

She was sitting in the Crashdown after the quiet funeral, wearing a loose black shirt and black jeans when she saw Milton walk into the Crashdown.
“Milton?” She said.
He still had his fuzzy red hair but something was wrong. He was less-well, less spectacular if you get what I mean, Liz thought.
“Liz,” He handed her a bunch of white roses. “I am so sorry for your loss,”
“Go figure,” Liz said. She felt nothing. Too much bad things happened to her. Issues about death start to roll of her back like Teflon.
“But, I came for different reasons,” He handed her a metallic book with rusty opal bind rings.

As Liz took the book it felt a little heavy like a small dictionary. “What in the world,” Her eyes looked upon her own reflection of herself. She was surrounded by alien symbols, and levitating inside the granolith.
“I believe that this is one page, missing out of a book. But the question is. Where is the book?”
“Where did you find this?” Liz said.
“In Egypt- the Valley of the kings” Milton replied. “Most of us are baffled by this, we believe its some kind of prophecy,”

Liz paced it in her black book bag. “I’ll have a look at it,”
“I’ll be here for a while. Visiting a coupe of friends, I just wanted you to know that the aliens have a plan for you. A exciting plan, this could be a close step to real contact,”
Milton turned and as he exited he said. “I always knew that you were special,”
Liz shook her head. That was weird. Liz had so many questions but the one thing that caused her heart to glitch was when the phone rang.
“Hello,” Liz groggily said. What was the point of being polite?
“Hi..errr…is this Liz Parker,” It was a boy around her age and she recognized the voice. But from where…
“Its me Bob, I was the delivery guy?”

Just then, it clicked. He delivered Alex’s Tai food. He was mocking her friend’s death the day after Alex’s demise. “Yes?”
“I know that this sounds stupid but I have something that may interest you about Alex’s suicide?”

Chapter 5

Several weeks had past since Bob’s phone call and Milton sudden visit. Liz hadn’t heard from Milton, but the information Bob had given her gave her more proof that Alex didn’t kill himself. Bob had handed her a slip from his last delivery to Alex. Where there should be Alex’s signature was just a bunch of ones and zeros.

At that time it didn’t make much sense to Liz at the time. Until she looked at the barcode on Alex’s poetry book, it matched the signature on Bob’s tab. So, Liz searched on the Internet and found out about binary code and added up the ones and zeros. The number fifty-six. The exact number of days that Alex was away on his exchange to Sweden and the same page number of the Robert Frost poem ‘Stopping by the woods on a Snowy Evening’ What even freaked Liz out was the number fifty six was the number on the semi trailer hull that killed her parents. Could all of these be linked somehow?

Liz ‘borrowed’ Alex’s laptop from his room and hacked into his files and found fifty-six pages worth of four words ‘Leanna is not Leanna’
She hadn’t seen Max in weeks. Maria had deserted her. She only heard vague rumors that Isabel and Max were having fights. But that was not her major priority anymore.

Liz went through everything to do with Alex’s trip but found nothing. Until one slide form his slide show, number fifty-six was a picture of Alex and his girlfriend Leanna in front of this building.

Liz spent the last couple of weeks trying to get in touch with the Swedish embassy about the building but nothing. So, she decided that it was up to herself to figure what really happen in Sweden. More importantly did Alex even go to Sweden? Liz had packed her bags and waited on the outskirts of Roswell for the taxi to pick her up and drive her to the airport.
It was typical weather for Roswell. It was hot but the wind carried a cold draft from the south. Then, she heard a screeching sound of tires being dragged across the pavement, a roar of an engine like a lion and Max’s jeep revved up beside her.

“Liz,” He whined, as if he was talking to a child. “What are you doing?”
How dare he, Liz thought Looking stare in the eye. How can he act like nothing happened? Her stomach doubled over in pain. She rubbed the tears from her eyes. No, She thought. She was stronger than this….. “Going to Sweden,”

Max hang his head low, “Liz, this has got to stop,” He got out of the car and walked up beside her. The touch of his hand on her skin sent her body in fire and her throat tightened. She was in love with him and it seemed like he moved on. Everyone has. Everyone can talk about yesterday’s beer while she was still stuck in the moment, feeling disjointed and everything spiraling to hell.

“Don’t pull that King card on me. I am not a member of the royal four,” Liz stated. She wasn’t his girlfriend, she wasn’t his anymore, and it was like a broken record.
“Yeah, But you mean something to me,” Max said. “When we slept together, it hurt. I heard you cry in pain. It was your first time…wasn’t it?” He griped her on her arm.

“Let go of me,” Liz cried out in the searing pain that radiated heat form her arm. It felt like she spilled hot coffee all over her skin. She could feel the rough shiny blisters pulsate upwards and explode into a white puss fountain, cooling her dry scorched skin. Max looked down and found his hard grip had caused to stop the circulation in her arm. A bluish tint was beginning to emerge. Max Slowly unwrapped his fingers from her arm. Liz breathed a sigh from relief. From the searing physical pain but also the emotional pain caused by his touch.

Shit, Liz thought. No matter what happened Liz felt nothing but Max’s words like tiny prin prick that poked through her bubble of nothingness. It hurt.
The taxi had arrived; its horn interrupted their stares. Liz hurled up her heavy suitcase and hurled the bag at the taxi driver.
“Who’s going to the airport?” He asked, catching the heavy bag and tossing it into the boot.
“I am,” Liz replied.
“How are you going to cover your tracks? What’s your excuse?” Max was hurling words at her.
Liz tuned around. “Well, I can say that my parents sudden death and Alex demise was all to much and I went off the Florida to be with my aunt or something,”

“And then what?” Max said. “You’ll suddenly find out what really happened with Alex? Look, if you think about it we all saw the signs..”
“How can you say that!” Liz seethed. Alex was her friend. She knew him, he didn’t kill himself.
“If you leave now, our friendship is over,” Max said forcedly as Liz go into the taxicab. Liz turned around, her eyes blazing with anger. How dare he, Liz thought. Not only is he trying to control me but is using what’s left of our friendship by a mends to keep me here….
“Alex was killed by an alien-” Liz slammed the door. “I’m taking my chances,”

The taxicab left, and her friendship with Max was over. But Alex was worth it. If only she could convince her heart that was already broken.
**

Airport. 7:10pm

The wind jostled through Liz’s heavy body and her damp black trench coat. And yet, she wasn’t cold. Which was strange with the temperature being a freakily close to zero. She was already late to her flight when he cell phone rang.
It was hard to hear among the loudness of the jet propellers.
“Hello?”
“Is this Liz Parker,” It was the Swedish embassy.
“Yes?”
“That building you wanted to talk about. I’m sorry but that building was torn down ten years ago,”

Liz clicked the phone off. Alex never went to Sweden. She turned around and the small airplane dawned on her. Something in her stomach heaved, Liz clutched her stomach, and it was tremendous pain. Tiny icicles inserted and stabbed into her brain matter. Her throat swelled up and her head buzzed until something happened, and the plane exploded into a sea of fire right in front of her. The fire licked at her body and everything went black.

Chapter Six

Seven days later…

The first thing Liz realized was that her throat was dry. Her stomach rumbled. She was hungry but she couldn’t feel her face.
Her eyes lids felt like she had a layer of glue over them. She struggled to make out where she was until she tried to rub off the glue from her eyes that Liz noticed an IV Drip capsule that was connected to her vein on her left hand. A small claw was on her right finger. She was wearing a sheer hospital gown. She needed to get up and investigate Alex. He didn’t go to Sweden. So, her next mission was why go to the trouble of making it seem that he was going to Sweden when he didn’t. So, where did he go?
She didn’t care that she was strapped to this hospital bed. It was cold. She needed something to eat.

Okay, now, body, get up…Liz instructed. Nothing happened.
Okay, she thought. Let try again…still, nothing happened.
Okay, this isn’t funny anymore, She thought.

Nurses were going on their daily business. She tried to holler but the words didn’t leave her lips. She could her other voices, moaning, and screaming. There was a lot of screaming…
Hey, She thought, Can’t you see I don’t want to be here. I have plenty of other things to do then sit around and play drift wood.
Liz braced her white hands on the steel handrails. She pushed her self upwards into s sitting position but came utter pain, pulsating from her head. And blood, alot of blood flowed from her mouth.

What the hell? She touched her lips and they felt like rubber. She tugged her on lip but she couldn’t feel her fingers on her skin. What the? A loud, rapid, increasing beeping sound was emitting from Liz’s monitor.
A flock of near by nurses saw that Liz was struggling to get up from her bed and flocked towards her.
And when you don’t need them, Liz thought. They pop out of nowhere.

“Stay calm, Miss Parker,” One of the nurses said. Like octopus tentacles they secured her to the bed.
“Water,” Liz rasped. She wanted something to drink to take away the fuzziness in her brain.

One of the nurses to her left hurried to get a small cup of water. But as the cup touched her lips. It turned red and Liz could not feel the blood dribble from her face and mouth onto her blouse until she looked down and saw her hands completely covered in it. The blood tasted like salted olives that stung her, and an immense pain that seem to be coming from everywhere in her body. She could even feel tiny dust particles tickler her heaving lungs.
This can’t be good, Liz thought, and blacked out.

***

When she woke up again she was in another room that smelt like vanilla. It was still hard to function. It was like her mind was going a hundred miles an hour but everything else…. stopped.
“Liz Parker,” A middle aged man with no hair and fine rimmed glasses in a black suit whispered.
“Yeah,” Liz pressed the button on her left and the bed slowly hummed, and rose so Liz could look at him.
“The name is Cal Langley. Is Charn okay?” He asked.
“Charn… who?” Liz said. Who the hell was Charn?
“Visiting hours are over,” A doctor walked in, tapping Cal on the shoulder. Cal sighed and turned to Liz.
“This isn’t over,” He left.

“Hi Liz, I’m doctor Raven Nelson.” She was an African American with her long dark golden curls in a tight bun. Her uniform was of a white blouse and black pants.
“You were out of it for quite some time. A week and three days in fact.” Raven said.
Liz wanted to touch her face but her hands felt like metal. The IV drip was calming her.
“What happened,” Liz asked, she was finding it hard to keep her eyelids open.
“The airplane, in which you were three feet from had a bad notch job. A loose frayed cable sparked near the oil taker, which also happens to have a hole in it and exploded. A total of seven people died. Only you, in whom the fire was closest to, survived. It’s almost phenomenal. There was also a freak electrical storm with green sparks…” Raven drifted off. “The good news is that you and the baby are fine,”
“The baby?” Liz said.

Raven was jotting down notes of her clipboard. “Yes, you are eight week pregnant. Congratulations. Now, about your release papers. Is there anyone we can call?”
“Max Evans…”The name slipped from her lips..
This can’t be happening. Liz blacked out. What sacred her even more that it was fifty-six days since she had been pregnant.

Chapter Seven

The Hospital provided Liz with some clean clothes and returned her book bag, which was a phenomena. Everything burned to ash in the explosion. Except for Liz and her book bag.

I can’t think about that now, Liz thought. I’m pregnant with Max’s baby. That’s enough to keep anyone occupied.[/i

]The Nurses had tried to get in touch with the Evans family but no one responded. So, in the end Maria, Liz’s best friend was contacted and agreed to pick her up. Liz was in the common room, wearing a pink shirt and gray cargos. Her long hair was tied in a high loose ponytail. Liz was fiddling with the circle band-aid over her IV drip arm.
“Hey chica,” Maria said. Liz turned around and found Maria with a bunch of yellow flowers. She handed the flowers to Liz. “Friends?”
“Friends,” Liz accepted the flowers.

As Maria escorted Liz to the car Liz tried to remember what happened when she was in recovery. A man came to see her. She couldn’t remember what he looked like or what his name was. But, all she remembered was his words.
Is Charn okay?

Who the hell was Charn? Could it be her child? Liz didn’t know. But she made a mental note to research that later.

They were on the outskirts of Roswell when Maria interrupted the silence.
“Who have missed a lot since you little endeavor…?” Maria changed gears and turned the air conditioner down.
“Like what?” Liz said, crossing her arms. She felt so hungry, when was the last time I ate something? She received no physical injury from the explosion. Then why was she bleeding from her mouth? Why was in pain at all? Maria breathy voice interrupted Liz disjointed thoughts.

“Well for starters. Max won’t allow Isabel go to college outside of Roswell. So, Isabel is temporary shacking at my house until Max cools down. My relationship has improved with Michael. He is so worried about you- gone all big brother on ya. He wanted me to remind you that you guys have to see your parents’ lawyer tomorrow.”

“Okay, what else?” Liz said. What she heard so far wasn’t too bad. She wanted Maria to keep talking. Her news were far more a bomb shell than Max and Isabel fighting.
“Max has changed so much. He’s so…. alien. Its like I don’t recognize the man I made friends with over the summer. And the fact that he has been so close to fucking Tess,”
“WHAT?” the air conditioner knob went up high until cold wind blew Maria's long hair in front of her face. Maria pulled over and turned off the air conditioner.
“Calm down Liz.” Stupid air conditioner…Maria muttered silently.
“Calm down?”

“Well, what I mean is that although Max hasn’t fucked Tess. He has said that he is cutting it pretty thin. That was two days ago. I refused to talk to him if he is hanging out with Tess,” Maria looked over at Liz. Tucking a loose stand behind her ear. “Is everything okay?”
Liz nodded. “I’m okay.”
Gee, I'm such a bad liar. But lucky for Liz Maria didn't notice.

Chapter Eight

Special FBI agent Rashel Lopez waltzed onto the murder scene with a starbucks coffee in one hand and her cell phone in the other. Drinking the last dregs of her coffee she tossed it to one side as her Spanish eyes looked upon St Mary’s Hospital with gloom.
Why did the special unit send her here? She thought.

“Special Agent Lopez,” the twenty-four year old flashed her badge at the police officer. Her nodded and lowed the yellow tape so she could pass. The groups of media were eagerly setting up their equipment.
Walking down the hallway the stench of old blood sent bile up her throat. Blooded handprints covered the hallway like wallpaper.
She walked through to the victims room. A doctor Raven Nelson. All that was left of her was a crumpled white lab coat covered in gray ash, a white blooded covered in silver paint and a collection of blood handprints and what seemed to be layers of old snake skin.

“So, what have you got?” She asked, pulling off her sunglasses form the top of her dark hair.
“Dr Raven Nelson, thirty-five year old, female, African American was in her office organizing her files when there was a black out. Next thing you know there were piles of dust and blood everywhere” The policeman offered. His nametag read Greg in black bold letters.

“Were there any witnesses?” Miss Lopez tipped toed around the room; a letter from a Universal Friendship league was addressed to Raven and was three days old. There was also a framed picture on her desk of Raven in Copper summit with a thirteen-year-old boy with spiky hair. Pulling on her white latex gloves and placing a pair of eyebrow pickers in her hand she tried to pick up a flaky piece of snakeskin off the bookcase but as the metal touched the skin it crumbled into ash. There was no smell of dying carcass, just a smell of gunpowder. Something was not right here.

Her eyes fell on a green file wedged in between a black book on ethics and a guide to the female anatomy. Careful not to disturb the crime scene she stepped over the small piles of ash and gently nudged the file. The green file weighed a ton of bricks and she struggled to keep still. A small vial with blood inside was in a small sealed plastic bag, marked two days ago. The file was marked. Miss Elizabeth Parker of Roswell New Mexico.
Elizabeth Parker, Lopez thought. I heard that name float around the special unit, but where? “Mind If I take a look,”
“Yea, I do,” The police officer tried to reach for the file but Lopez pried away.

“Special Unit,” She stated and waked out of the room and a vacant room a few doors down and walked towards the door. Nudging the door closed she gently place the file on the table. She grabbed the desk chair and planted herself down and breathed before opening up the file.
But the writing was in some kind of code. She couldn’t read any of the symbols Ms Raven had written down. There was also a hefty collection of photos of Liz Parker. Ranging from when she was in kindergarten to when she was at High school. One of the recent pictures, dated eight weeks ago was of Liz sitting on the bleaches at School, holding a white rose; dried tear streaks matched the sheer sadness on her face. There was also a worn out line of photo booth pictures of Liz Parker and..

Max Evans, She breathed. The suspected Alien, Lopez remembered. Liz was involved with him! It all clicked. Lopez remembered the late Agent Pearce having a separate team of people keeping an eye for Liz for any sign of activity since she was shot and raised by Max two years ago. As far as she knew the team was still very active. She made a metal note to check on that.

So, the question was. If Liz was apart of the group of suspected aliens then why is Dr Raven so interested?
Shifting through the photos she found a faxed photo marked June 27. Almost eight weeks ago. It was a picture of a very naked Max; tangled up with an also very naked Liz Parker backed up against the wall…
Lopez blushed. Who cares if he was really an alien or in his late teens? She would give anything to have the same expression Liz had on that moment in that photo.
Rashel Lopez was now onto the medical file. Lopez sucked in her breath. Liz was eight weeks pregnant. Liz was pregnant with the suspected Alien’s child.

She knew she should contact the Special Unit and alert them about this. But after witnessing first hand on how they treated Max…. in fact this was her only chance for redemption. If she helped Liz somehow…. then maybe, just maybe Max could forgive him for being one of the doctors that tortured him last year.

She closed the green file and placed the blood test vial in her pocket. She still had to show this to the Special Unit. Rashel wouldn’t show them everything but just enough for them to be focused on Dr Raven and Copper Summit than Liz Parker and her suspected unborn alien child.

Chapter Nine.

Hot tears ran down Liz’s face. Stupid English teacher.

Not only Liz had to finish her summative oral she missed while being in Hospital she also had to complete two essays for the two texts they studied last semester. School wasn’t so bad as she thought it would be. So far she hadn’t seen Max. She didn’t know if it were a good or a bad thing.

Shouldn’t have spoke too soon, Liz thought when she saw Max by her Locker. Seeing his dark mop of hair made her self go numb. She clutched at her stomach from keeping the feeling of throwing up. She could almost see the white bits of her breakfast decorated the floor, or even better. Max Evans. That brought a ghost smile to her lips. That was so tempting but she decided not too. Something must be up. Max usually doesn’t rake his hands through his raven hair.
“I really need to talk to you,” He whispered. His eyes were flickering from side to side.
“Max,” She sighed, bowing her head. She wouldn’t look at him. She didn’t want to look into his eyes, the burning amber that used to ignite the fire inside her heart. Now, the eyes created a gaping sickly hole. He had become a tumor that was making her sick that death seemed a tourist vacation. She wanted to give up and yet she presses onwards. She followed him towards the eraser room. He opened the door and she stepped inside. He locked the door behind him.

Liz’s heart jumped. When did the eraser room become so small? It’s not that, she thought. She didn’t want to be alone with him.
“Isabel is going to Los Angelus in three weeks,” Max burst out. He bowed his head.
“ Now, more then ever we need to stay together.”
“We, meaning you, Michael, Isabel and..” Liz rolled her eyes to the left. “Tess” She breathed. He nodded.
“So, what does this have to do with me?” Liz crossed her arms. He better not be asking for a favor…
“I need a favor,” Max breathed.

Damn, I know him too well. “Really, I thought that we weren’t friends,”
“I have no friends Liz, I can’t lose you,” He gave her the puppy eyes.
“You already have,” Liz breathed. Her stomach flipped again. It was like when they first started dating. She shouldn’t be having those thoughts. She was pregnant. Why couldn’t she just tell him? Liz was afraid of the outcome and the fact that Tess leaving would cause the end of the world. “Okay,” She said.
“Thanks,”

And before Liz knew what was happening Max wrapped his arms around her in a quick hug and a kissed her on the forehead. To her it was very intimate. Too intimate. She felt sick again. She was trying to stop the end of the word. She was so confused. Apart of her wished that things would go back to normal. But just like Max had said to her almost a year ago. What so great about normal?
She had that answer now. Normal was safe.

Chapter Ten.

Copper Summit.

It was just a few hours ago that the death of Raven was brought to Kevar’s attention. Nicolas was awaiting Kevar’s next order. To pass the time he threw some water on their prisoner Ava.
“I must say, Ava” Nicolas was beaming. “After what Lonnie and Rath said about their trip to Roswell. I’d expect that you’ be off to protect the so called Mother of Charn,”

Luckily for everyone no one knew the true identity of charn’s mother being Liz Parker. If they did, Liz would already be dead.
“I ain’t gonna answer any question that Kevar wants,” Ava mumbled, her jaw was bruised and battered and some of her teeth were missing. In due time Ava could grow back her teeth but with al the drugs the skins had put into her system she was too weak and worn out to do anything anymore.

“Well, that’s cool,” Nicolas prowled around her still form like a sly Siamese cat. She was chained to a mud brick wall in an abandoned warehouse. Nicolas was applying sunscreen to his skin. But still Ava could see small spores of dead skin faking off like dust. Ava had to stay strong and protect Liz. If Ava could remember the prophecy Liz should be pregnant with Charn. Ava hoped that when Liz received the information about her son’s destiny that she still would love him.

Nicolas was looking at his watch. “You see, Kevar is right now on a ship heading for Earth. He should be here in four months time. Until then, Let’s just say he will use someone to be the stand-in.”
“You shit mother fuckers,” Ava whispered, blood dripping from her dried lips. “He’s human. He hadn’t done anything wrong,”
“Yet,” Nicolas smiled. “He has the same intentions like Kevar,”
“And a great sense of humor,” Kevar walked in, smiling. He scratched his dark brown hair and used his blue eyes to look upon Ava in rusted chains. He could see the abrasions all of her body. He stuttered to himself.
“Gee Ava, you should clean yourself up once in a while,”

“And you should stop being such a coward and be here,” Ava said.
“All in due time,” Kevar said. Towering over her, he pulled out a soda from his pocket. Cranked it open and took a sip. “Until then, I’ll just have to take the good with the bad,”
“I hope Max kills you,” Ava mumbled.
Kevar smiled. “I doubt that will happen. Cos we both know about the so called Charn prophesy.” Chuckling, he took another huge slurp of his soda. “In fact, I am gonna book front row seats for the birth of Charn,” handing his can of soda to Nicolas he crouch down next to Ava. Smelling the stench of grease and dried blood from Ava Kevar used his index finger to wipe off the fresh blood trail from her left eye.
“The mother will open her legs, by her cry she’ll bring hell unto all nations. The birth of Charn will cause the end of the world,”

**

Why am I here again exactly? Liz asked her self countless time when she drew up the courage to knock on Maria’s door.
Isabel was standing by the doorframe. Somehow she knew Liz was here because of Max. “I’m going to L.A”

Gee, that went well. Liz rubbed her forearms. She clenched her fists so that the feeling of throwing up die down. But she wasn’t sick because of the Baby. She was lovesick. Many people her age were single mothers. Still, it hurts to even think about Max being with someone else. To know that someone besides herself would get to feel his hot breath tickle behind her ears.

The way his strong arms would wrap around her waist and everything seemed pointless but being in his arms. How he could make anyone feel safe? It wasn’t that he was a hottie, Oh No. It was the way he carried himself around others. He had the leader aura. It was like he was saying ‘follow me’ and you just knew that you could trust him with anything. But not all relationships work out. No matter how much you loved him or vice versa. Sometimes even the best of the relationships burn out like dying stars.

“He’s really worried,” Liz said. How would she know? Liz really didn’t know Max anymore but she had to dug in her shoes and convince Isabel to stay in Roswell. All her hard work would not go to waste.
“Really, well he should have thought of that before he used his king card on me,” Isabel rushed. She was hyperventilating.
She’s so close to tears, Liz realized. It was hard for Isabel to be angry with her brother. They were more than brother and sister they were a family unit. Isabel only had Max, Michael and Tess to depend on… and now that Alex died, everything is in the shits.

“He’s just not himself,” Liz offered.
Isabel scoffed. “You got that right” She stepped aside and allowed Liz inside. Isabel paced into the living room where there were clothes spilled everywhere and one half full brown suitcase was dumped on the floor like heavy washing.

“With Alex’s death,” Liz began.
“No, Liz” Isabel stopped, tossing her clothes to one side. “Tess has done something to him. He hasn’t been the same since she’d arrived. One minute he is all caring and worried Max and then….” Isabel gulped. “He gets violent Liz. Look, I know my brother… he wouldn’t do “ Isabel gulped in air. “Do anything violent or harsh unless something was up,”
It was when Liz realized Isabel kept rubbing her chest.
“What’s wrong?” pointing at Isabel’s chest.

Isabel must’ve released she was scratching her chest, her eyes darkened. She became flustered. “Oh, I got bitten by a mosquito last night. Stupid Maria doesn’t have any ointment,”
“Take off your shirt,” Liz instructed.
“Liz.”
“Now, Isabel,”
“Alright,” Isabel wiped her hands on her jeans. “Brace yourself,” and began unbuttoning her blue blouse.
Liz held her hand to her poised lips. “Oh my god,”
There, scorched on the middle of Isabel chest was a silver handprint. Max’s Handprint Her skin was charred and cracked like the desert floor. It was like someone had placed a soldering iron to Isabel’s chest.
“Seeing is believing Elizabeth,”

Chapter 11

It was hot. Liz started to sweat. She was clothed in white silk and the silk was hanging off her frail frame by a few fish line threads crisscrossed at her bare back. The front was two pieces of cloths covering her breasts like coconut shells. Below her feet that was covered in sand was the four squares connected by a single cross- the royal foursquare symbol. And she was standing in the middle.
“Liz,” a voice whispered.
Liz struggled to look upwards, but then she saw him. It was her friend, Alex.
“Don’t believe it Liz,” Alex urged, his brow knitted together. “No matter how many books say or what they say. Don’t believe,”
“What?” the heat rolled on like fire, all over her skin as sweat soaked through her white dress.
Alex walked closer. The light shining around him was blinding her vision. So, Liz looked down at the sand and listened closely.
“When the stars align and the wars brew she will open her legs and by her cry fire will cover us all. When Charn is born the heat will rise, the birds shall fall and everything living will die. Don’t believe it,”
“What?” Liz said. Who was Charn? Don’t believe what?
“Liz,” Alex’s green blue eyes stared at her with concern. “Charn is your son,”
Liz rubbed her flat stomach; she could almost feel the little life that was growing inside.

“Liz,” a female said. It was Isabel.
“Hey Chica,” Said Maria. She was holding a cold cloth to Liz’s forehead. The coolness was heaven to her skin.
Liz opened her eyes and glanced at Isabel who had finished packing her bags. It was six thirty.
“So,” Liz groggily said. Her mind was a ton of brick. Rubbing her forehead she glanced at Isabel.
“You look like shit,” she said.
“Thanks,” Liz replied, pulling herself upwards into a sitting position. “Isabel, please stay,”
“No,” She replied. “I’m leaving; give me one good reason to stay,”
“Leaving would mean the End of the World,” Liz said.
“You’re kidding me.” Isabel laughed. “…. Right,”
“Do you see me laughing, Isabel?” Liz quipped. “For the past few months I have lived a lie so you four can have a life.” Liz tried to move herself but she felt so hot. “Ask Maria. She knows the truth,”
“What truth?”

“That I’m still a virgin,” Liz smiled to herself. Then, she grimaced because that statement was no longer true. “ A few months ago a thirty two year old Max came from the year 2014 to tell me that the world ended because Tess left, breaking the strength of the royal four.” Liz looked at Isabel’s face. It was filled with disbelief and…amusement. Isabel touched Liz’s shoulder with her fine manicured hands, gasped. “Liz, you’re burning up,”
“Izzy,” Liz said.
She smiled. “Only Max calls me that,”
“Then that makes the two of us,” Liz said.
“She’s telling the truth Isabel,” Maria crouched on the floor. “That’s how she knew so much about the granolith. Liz has sacrificed everything so you guys can live,”
“Don’t make my life seem a waste of time, Iz.” Liz said. “In the other time line you died. I don’t want to see that again,”
Isabel let out a breath that she had been holding for a long time. “I have past lives, thinking I was pregnant from a dream. Grant being infected by that blue goo,” She looked at Liz and Maria. “I guess I can believe this.” She smiled weakly. “ Just make my life worth living in Roswell,”
“So? You’re staying?” Liz asked.
Isabel nodded. “Yes,”

Chapter 12

Thursday. 11:10pm

He was out there. She didn’t even have to look. Once she caught a whiff of his masculine sent mixed in with Tabasco Liz knew Max was outside on her balcony.
She was now left with a choice. Should she invite him in or ignore him?
Her long hair was wavy like curly ribbons. She had put her long hair into plaits earlier in the morning with her hair still damp. With the heat rays it dried her hair and set the pattens in and when she unravelled her hair after a long day at school her hair billowed in every direction.
She knew why he was out there. He could have walked through her window like Michael had done a few times when she forgot to open the Crashdown.

Her mother walked in and smiled, washing basket full of clothes in hand.
“Hey, Dear, Aren’t you going to let Max inside? It’s awful hot out there?”
Liz smiled and looked at the window when Max made a gesture. She nodded and as he got inside Liz turned to see the wash basket her mother was carrying dumped on the floor. Old washing from three days ago, Liz thought. Liz wished her parents were still alive. She cursed herself for seeing her parent’s as ghosts.

“Hey,” Max said and sat next to her on the bed.
Liz backed herself to the wall and sat on top of her pillow. “Hey,”
The awkward silence was building between them like bricks. “What are you doing here?” Liz got up from her bed and then, only realised that she was wearing a very see through white Singlet and pink panties. She quickly looped some baggy sweatpants on. She smiled sheepishly and faulted when Max was still staring at her.

“What?” She asked, Liz was grateful that her long hair covered her chest on her see through white Singlet. A few months ago this situation would be embarrassing but she knew why this situation was different. They had past the barrier of friends and entered a place that never of them really wanted to talk about.

“Liz,” It was almost a broken whisper. “We need to talk about what happened….that…night,”
“That night,” Liz replied, and her eyes reverted to the floor. “Oh...”
He was too close to her for comfort. Like a sick bag bubble that was slowly suffocating her. She really didn’t want to talk about this because she was pregnant because of it, and, also she didn’t want to hear him saying it was a mistake.
“It was a mistake…” Max spoke, his words sliced her heart and it began to bleed. She wouldn’t cry. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of having power of her….She wouldn’t…

“….to have let you go that morning. Liz” He finished his sentence and Liz stopped chanting in her head.
What...
Max slowly touched her hand with his index finger. Even though it was just a finger it radiated heat from her hand and it spread throughout her body.
“I couldn’t sleep knowing that the love of my life.” He was crying as he spoke. So, most of the words came out like a chocked whisper. “The one I never stopped loving. Was in my arms, again,” tears were pooled around his cheek and he wiped them away with his hand. He was wearing his black button down shirt and dark cargos and Liz’s cheek flushed. “Why did you leave that morning?”

She wasn’t listening. Although her eyes were glued to his she was thinking about his hands that have migrated to her thighs and his body was inches from hers.
“I don’t know,” Liz honestly replied. “I guess…that night… I just wanted to feel-“
“Me too,” Max said but Liz quickly kissed him on the cheek. “And that night, we went somewhere that we didn’t know existed. The next day I guess everything flooded back and I was afraid that if I stayed….I was afraid I would be losing you,”

“You never did,” Max, replied, his hand was roaming her wet cheekbones and kissed her fingertips that were tightly clasped in his. “But, you really hurt me when you accused me about Alex’s death,”
“I didn’t mean you guys,” Liz quickly assured him. Before she knew it she tumbled into his arms, legs tangled in with each other and her arms snaked tightly around his waist. She listened to his quickening heartbeat and gently circled his chest with her right hand while her left was in a tight embrace with his hand.
“I meant Kivar.” Liz said. “Not the royal four. Not you…”
Max haggard breathing meant he was trying to hold in his tears. Liz knew he hated seeing himself like this. But for the first time in months Liz saw the real Max, and he was afraid.

“ I don’t hate you Max,” Liz whispered. “I love you,”
“I love you,” Max replied. “You (Kiss) you (Kiss) you (Kiss) you, and only you,”
His lips sent a fire in her belly and she knew that she was rubbing up against him that her clothes were staring to heat up. It was so hot her clothes had soaked through and she knew what Max was staring at. Her big juicy….
“So, where does this lead us?” Max said, interrupted Liz’s thoughts that she never thought she would be thinking about.
“I don’t know,” Liz shook her head. “There are a lot of unanswered questions. Some of which, I don’t even know why I want to know. But I think that your main priority right now is to patch things with the group first.”

Max was shaking his head, “No,” he whispered. He pulled her between his legs and she could feel his groin swealed against her backside, she almost yelped but she closed her own legs to prevent them from opening them. “You are my main priority, Liz, my only,”
He was too close. She could easily give in. Get lost in the lusty folds off his hard skin and scream until her voice goes raw. They both deserved it. But her nagging conscious told her two things. Things are going to fast and there was the question of Tess.
“Max, I think its best that we start off as being friends-“
“I think we both know that we can’t go back to that. And I don’t think we want to,”
“ I just have some things to say.” Liz looked down at their tangled bodies and tried to untangle but Max held her close that his lips were sucking on her shoulder and she could feel his hot breath on the back of her head. “ Did you? Sleep with Tess?”

Max stood frozen and his jaw tightened. She could see his veins bulge from his skin. “If you honestly believe it. Then you don’t know me that well,”
“So that’s a no then?”
“Make that a Hell no!”
“But Maria said…”
“I came close mainly because I was pissed off at my sister and our failed relationship. I can honestly say that I have no excuse for what I could have done. But I didn’t. So, I hope that one day you can begin to forgive me for thinking about it,”
“Speaking of Isabel, I’ve been hearing things about that too,” Liz wrestled from his embraced and climbed off her bed and stood by the wall with her arms firmly crossed over her chest. “Are you going to tell me that those burnt handprints were because an influx of inbuilt rage?”
“Wait,” Max held his hands in the air. “Now you are accusing me of hurting my sister?”
“Who said I was accusing?”
“Well- it sure sounds like it,”
Liz sighed and placed her hands in her head. “I meant to say is that Isabel said that you have abused her physically and bullied her into staying in Roswell,”
Now it was Liz turned to be shunned. He got up from her bed and prowled around her room like a caged animal.
“ I never did that,” It was like he was trying to convince himself.
“Are you sure?” Liz asked.

Max turned to look at her; his eyes were a blazing red. “Liz, you know that I’ll never lie to you.” he said after a beat. “ Unlike you,” he crossed his arms and huffed. Apparently you lost your virginity to Kyle. But that night I pushed through that membrane.” He voice became quieter. “I felt you pain and…pleasure of it all,” he chuckled to himself, and mocked her at the same time.
“I NEVER HURT MY SISTER IN ANYWAY,” He was yellow and advancing towards her at the same time, grabbing her forcefully by the shoulders. Liz winched in pain, his hands were like frozen grip hooks.
A white light flashed before her eyes.

Flash

Max, feeling responsible for Alex’s death.

Flash
Making love to Liz. Feeling alive for the first time in months

Flash

Waking up to find Liz missing from his bed. Feeling betrayed, and alone

Flash

Tess, his only friend. Who listened to him on the phone when he was feeling frustrated.

Flash

Tess mind warping Max into thinking Isabel was Agent Pearce, who just killed Liz.

Flash

Seeing Liz at school. Feeling lost as he was.

Flash

Tess mind warping Max into thinking he had feelings for her.

Max had let go of her hand. “What?”

“I believe you,” Liz whispered. Still registering what she had just seen. Liz pulled into a hug. She could feel him smiling against her head and his shoulders relaxed. All this time, Liz thought. All this I thought he hated me. But in realty Tess was mind warping him. And what about Isabel? Hot bile rose from her throat in anger. She was going to kill Tess. But no, first she had to go and tell Isabel the next day. For now she had to focus on Max.

“So, were does this leave us?” Max asked, she felt his tears roll down her cheek. He had been through so much. All this time everyone thought he was being a bastard, when, he was being the victim in Tess mind games. But, just how much did Tess mess with his mind?
“Close friends,” Liz answered, and Max laughed. It brought some comfort, but not the happy kind. The kind that breaks the heart, knowing that you want to make it all better but have too outside conflicting problems for everything to factor in. Or to be solved.

“I don’t think I could handle much right now,” Max hoarsely whispered.
Liz agreed with him. Although she had the nagging feeling in her stomach that she should tell Max about the baby. She knew that they could never be friends. They were in love. But sometimes Love isn’t enough.

Chapter 13

Friday. Last lesson of the day.

Influence. Some of the definitions from the Collins English dictionary have many meanings for one word. The effect of one person or thing on another. The power of a person or thing to have such an effect. To persuade or to induce or to have an effect upon actions. It’s the irony of it all. Not one can sum up for the influence of Future Max in her life. He didn’t persuade or induced her. Nor did he have the effect of one person. No, Liz thought. Future Max robbed her of her dreams.

Raped her mentally and taunted her like Nasdeo. It was that revelation that pulled the raw string in her heart. Influence can explain everything in her life. But, somehow, being pregnant was like a small dark seed, taking roots in her system and she no longer felt innocent. She felt dirty for keeping this dangerous secret from everyone. Glancing at her notes on Adaptations Liz didn’t have to look into her best friends eyes to know something was up. Something bad.

Chewing absently on her B2 pencil Liz raised her eyes at Maria. Her hair had changed from the last time Liz saw her three hours ago. It was like small wavy springs off a china doll. Billowing around her creamy shoulders with not one lock out of place.
The smell of baking soda from the last practical didn’t block out her millions thoughts surrounding Liz and the wonder of what news Maria had for her.

After five more minutes of Liz writing down notes and Maria making side-glances at her Liz gave up. She placed down her notes, took her hand and walked to the far end of the lab, where it was less people so Liz could talk to Maria in semi-private atmosphere.

“Okay, you have five minutes. I have to finish this practical if I want to get into Harvard.” Truth was. The practical wouldn’t help get her into Harvard. She was pregnant, and in three months time she would have to quit school before she started showing. That is, if alien pregnancies went to full term as Human pregnancies. Liz rolled her eyes at her own thoughts. She was supposed to be focusing on Maria. Liz looked at Maria, who scratched her sweaty hair. Even though they were in a semi cool lab Liz could tell Maria was bothered.

“Okay, but I can’t say everything right here.” Maria whispered, she was looking over her shoulder every once in a while.
Wow, Liz thought. Something must be up. Liz saw her lab teacher, strolling throw the rows and decided that they should be alone to ‘talk’. So, pulling a napkin from her pocket and dapping it with water she dabbed underneath her eyes so her mascara would smudge. Carefully slouching her shoulder she scurried to the teacher, leaving Maria very confused.

Liz quickly whispered to the teacher. Telling him that the fumes reminded him of her parent’s death and asked if she could get some air, and to take her friend with her.
“Take all the time you need,” he replied, and went back to his notes.
“What was that,” Maria asked as Liz closed the lab door behind them.
Ï told them I couldn’t get over my parents death, or something like that,”
“Oh ” Maria said. “Did you wanna talk-“
“No now,” Liz held her arms up. She had enough going on with her. She didn’t want this too.

Liz and Maria walked through the empty hallways of Roswell High. It was then, that Liz realized that not only Maria, but also everyone else was hot and bothered.
She noticed ghostly sweaty patches on Maria’s forearms and a little on Maria’s pale velvet halter-top. Liz was wearing a pair of jeans and a white bikini top. But she didn’t feel hot at all. Actually she felt fine.
“ Are you feeling okay?” Maria asked. Liz arched her eyebrows. Did she know she was pregnant? Does she have pregnant ESP or something? No, there’s no such thing.

Maria smiled, shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head. I
“ It’s just that it’s hot and you haven’t broken in sweat,”

Oh God, Liz thought. She didn’t know the answer but the first answer that entered her mind was that this alien pregnancy must have been affecting her somehow. She wished she could tell Maria but Maria had so much going on. Liz didn’t want to put another burden on her best friend’s shoulders.

Liz found a park bench that was half under the shade of the veranda, near the Art room, and underneath a weeping willow tree.
Liz sat down and pattered a seat next to her. “Tell me everything,”
Maria nodded and sat down. “Remember how you were in that plane accident. And in that coma for a while?”
Liz nodded. “Yeah? So”

“You know that day when I came to pick you up?”
What was she getting at? Did something happen? Her stomach rippled and Liz clenched her hands together.
“Remember I said that they gave me a call?”
“Maria,” Liz whined. “I’m not a very patient lady. What’s up?” the pain in her stomach increased, pushing lower and started to throb. Liz wished she had some painkillers on her but she wouldn’t risk it when she was pregnant.

“I Lied.” Maria stated.
Everything stopped. Including the nagging thoughts in her head. “What?” Liz said, her brain buzzing. “But…but…how did you find me if you received no call? They told me that they called-”
“I’ve been getting flashes,” Maria interrupted. “From Michael,”
Liz was taken back. “You mean…”
“The same kinda deal between you and Max,” Maria looked like she was relaxed. “It started. Six weeks ago in his apartment-“
“I don’t need the details” Liz put her hand up. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself. “So, why now?”
“First of all. I haven’t had sex with Michael. Secondly…”Maria tucked a lose lock behind her hair. “I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you earlier but you have been through-”
“Still, it’s an excuse,” Liz replied. “No matter how bad of shape I was. You could’ve told me,”
“I know, Liz.” Maria said honestly. “I feel so bad but that’s not why I am here. “
“Wha-“
“Ava’s in trouble,” Maria said, “She’s been captured by Kivar,”

Washington D.C

.

Rashel Lopez was in the car park, walking swiftly towards her black Lexus. She made sure that everything the Special Unit had on Liz Parker was tightly tucked underneath her white shirt. She could feel the heavy bags underneath her eyes, her damp hair from not having a shower for days. But it was worth it. She had to make sure the FBI doesn’t find out that Liz is carrying Max’s child. She sent a bulk copy of all her findings to Liz, so that she would too; know that seriousness of her situation and the danger she was in, carrying an alien child.
It was when she reached her car, and rooted through her bag to pull out her keys that she heard a strange clicking noise. At first she ignored it and pushed the button on her key lock to unlock her alarm system.

Click-click-click

She heard it again. Only, this time it was louder. She turned around and only saw a empty car park and the sound of her own harsh breathing. She could feel the strong rapid beat of her heart, thumping underneath her white blouse in panic.
“Gee,” She whispered to herself. “I’m losing it,” but as the words escaped her lips she saw something resembling a snakeskin on the car park floor, and next to her car.
She bent down and retrieved the skin only for it to disintegrate like ash in her hands.

Click-Click-Click.

It sounded like someone making horse-galloping sounds with their tongue. Only it was low and throaty, like someone was laughing.
Rashel closed her eyes and breathed in. She went to open her car when the alarm went off.

WEE-OH-WEE-OH

High-pitched screams invaded her ears and Rashel covered them. But the sounds seared her eardrums and she could feel blood gushing like a river through the ear canal and drip onto her uniform. What was that? My car alarm doesn’t do that!
Quickly she went to retrieve her keys from her handbag. Her handbag, she touched the air where it should have been. Where was her handbag?
”Rashel,” the wind whispered. She heard a voice but no one was there. “Rashel.” This time it was a little louder but her ears stung and she could feel them swell up.
“Whose there?” She hollered, inching closer back to her car but she was met with air. Her car was gone too.
“Okay, this isn’t funny anymore” She whirled around the car park. There was only a dim light from the elevator three meters away. If she could just get there?

“Tut Tut Tut,” there was a second voice, but younger…. Belonging to a young teenager. “Looks like we got a runaway,”
“Now, Nicholas. That’s not a way to treat a lady,” There was the first voice, again.
Then, she heard nothing.
But then…
A big hand clasped around her throat, blocking the air form her lungs. Rashel gasped as the blood rushed to her head. Making it harder to focus. She was shoved against the cool pavement wall and she grimaced in pain.
“Hello, Rashel,” He cackled in delight, as if there was entertainment for him, or possibly aroused him. She didn’t know, she was too busing trying to breathe, as it was harder to heave and pump air in and out.
“The name is Kivar, and I believe you have someone information about Charn’s mother?”

She looked at his cruel blue eyes, frozen from cold hatred and enjoyment. His un kept dark hair curled around his eyes slightly.
“Don’t worry, I’m just ‘borrowing’ this body until my body gets here. Until then,” Kivar’s hand flared into a white flame and she screamed. She felt every cell of her body heat up. Her blood thickens and her muscles melted into one.
Until all that was left of her was a shell of a human being, her body half twisted like a dry tree trunk. Her eyes were blank marbles, and whiter than calcium bone.

It was Nicholas who was the first to scavenge the dead body, copping a feel of her breasts as his spidery hands tethered across her burnt skin. He was there for a few minutes until he pulled out the sealed envelope underneath her blouse that was just burnt rags.

“Got it,” Nicholas gleamed, and eagerly placed the envelope in his hands.
Kivar smiled. “Finally,” and then opened the envelope. He knew that when Raven, one of his contacts didn’t sign in he discovered through his sources that Raven had been dusted by Kal, the other protector. With further research Kivar also found out that FBI agent, Rashel Lopez had stolen all of Raven’s notes on ‘Charn’s mother. Kivar quickly shushed Nicholas away. He wanted to be alone when he read the information his contact raved that was important to their mission’.

He flipped through the pages until he saw a picture of a girl with long brown hair and doe eyes. Her pearly white smile stood out from her ethereal beauty. At first he chuckled, it was deep in his chest that escalated to a loud chuckle.
He was really laughing, almost in hysterics. “Liz Parker? Liz Parker?” he said to himself. “Oh man, I should have known. Those Czechoslovakians. She was always the glue to the group.”

Kivar turned to Nicholas, who was still cowering over the dead body, his pants were down and he was covering his throbbing manhood.
“Nicholas!” Kivar yelled. “Stop jacking off and come here at once,”
He heard Nicholas curse and zip up his pants. He swaggered back and quickly bowed to Kivar. “Sorry, Master,”
“Not now, Send transport to Roswell at once,” He smiled, looking down at Liz’s photo. “We are going to pay a visit to a certain someone,”

Chapter 14

Crashdown café.

“I think we need to change the uniforms,” Maria said, unhooking her uniform and pulling her top over her head and lopped on a pair of dark sweatpants.
“No we don’t,” She replied. “What time is it?” Liz asked. They were going to have a meeting tonight. A meeting to mend friendships between Aliens and humans. A meeting to grieve Alex and talk about Maria’s flashes.
“It’s 7:30pm,”Maria replied. “Clocking off time,” she smiled. “My mother also wanted to say ‘Thanks’ for allowing her to help you out,”
“Yeah,” Liz said. “Amy and Diane Evans have been a great help,” Liz was walking up stairs and was careful to not show any emotion.
“Hey, did you still want to-“
“Not now,” Liz sternly said, glancing back at her when she got up stairs and was now in the lounge room. “Not when there are important issues to discuss,”

A few minutes later Michael, Kyle and Isabel arrived. It felt so awkward but Liz smiled and offered them drinks. They all replied ‘No Thanks’ and Liz retreated to the kitchen.

“Where’s Max?” Maria mouthed when Liz had left the room.
“Max and Tess went to Library to study for Biology,” Kyle replied. “Sounds like making out to me,”

Although no one realized, Liz was in the kitchen and the pain she felt in her stomach was growing. It felt worse than period pain. It felt like the walls inside her were slowing breaking down into small spikes balls and starting slicing acid holes from her stomach and the juice soaked into her internal organs, firing them. She heard what Kyle said, but vaguely. She was all on fours and her hands were on her temples. She then hugged her stomach, tight. She bit on her lower lip to keep her from screaming.
Then, the pain stopped. It was still there, but only mildly throbbing.
She felt her lip bleeding but then she felt it warm up and then the pain disappeared, healed. Liz touched her lower lip and felt the soft almost rubbery texture of her parted lips. Her lip was healed
It seemed that not only there were some side affects but some powers too.
“Liz?” It was Kyle, calling from the lounge.
“Yeah,” Liz rasped.
“Max and Tess are here, we are going to start the meeting now,”
Liz turned on the faucet and washed her face and looked on the clock.
It was 8:30pm
Wait, 8:30pm? Liz thought. How did an hour go by?
She entered the lounge and took a seat in the small single lounge chair, facing everyone.
She tucked her long damp hair behind her shoulders, suddenly feeling all eyes were locked on her; knowing the secret that was growing within.

“Okay, so what is this meeting about?” Kyle asked. “Max?”
“I didn’t call it,” he replied. Liz noticed that his demurer changed. That’s what happens when you fall in love with someone. You realize when something wasn’t quite right. Something changed and the sharp prickle in her belly each time her eyes wavered near Tess and Max made Liz think somehow, her child knew that his father was with another woman and didn’t like it.

Which is confusing, Liz thought. Just a few days ago Max had approached her, begging to take him back into her life, in any form. And now he was sitting next to Tess like an accessory?
Or, Liz thought. Maybe, since she indicated that she only wanted to be friends that he was with Tess?
“ I called the meeting,” Maria said, her hands were entwined with Michael’s.

Maria then closed her eyes and when she reopened them she spoke, “A lot of events have caused rifts between everyone. Some of them minor-” she looked between Kyle, Michael and Tess. “And some of the major-” Maria wavered her pale green gaze between the squabbling siblings (Max and Isabel). “And some that are very serious,” Maria then glared at Max and Liz.
“I’ve decided to call this meeting, not only to mend the rifts but to tell you something very important,”
“That Ava is in danger,” Liz interrupted. She never knew Ava that well but the thought of a nice person like her trapped in some godforsaken prison made her angry. “I know that…. but” Liz trialed off by glancing at Maria’s gaze. Something told her that Maria hadn’t told her everything that she saw in her visions.

“About six weeks ago I started receiving flashes from Michael. They weren’t as intense with Max and Liz, the physical need to become one wasn’t to the ninth degree but it was like something was drawing us closer to show us something...”
“Wait, flashes?” Tess asked a look of confusion on her face. “What do you mean flashes?”
This brought a warm smile to Liz’s face. What wouldn’t she give to explain to Tess what exactly happened during the orb fiasco. But her lips remained sowed tight and Kyle quickly shushed Tess.
“So, you are saying you’re getting flashes but it’s like some magical force is making you gives have a flash?” Isabel asked.
“Its not the – I need you baby- type of thing. It’s more of a…voice…”
“A voice?” Kyle said, his brows knotted in confusion. “Are you sure that any of you are schizophrenic?”

That remark received a heated glare from Max, he then turned to Maria. “So, someone is telling that they have a message?” confusion could be read on everyone’s face.
“Wait,” Isabel said, winching that she interrupted Max’s sentence. “You mean that in your situation you guys get the same flash, but in Max and Liz’s case they saw information stored deep inside their minds?”
“Exactly,” Michael replied for the first time. “Some of the visions, or flashes we can’t explain.”

“What did you exactly see?” Isabel said, Kyle was next to her on the couch. He wasn’t paying attention by the look in his glaze blue eyes.
“We saw a shard of crystal, Ava, the granolith, and strangely enough. Most of our visions concerned Liz,”
“What?” Kyle said.
“We saw Liz surviving the plane crash. We saw her in hospital and we sensed the danger she was in.”

“So we called the hospital and they said that no one was registered.” Michael said. “But Maria felt that we needed to go so she drove while I covered her whereabouts up. And funny enough Liz was there. So, Liz.” Michael tuned to her with his hands clasped. “I know that this might seem odd. But our visions were all about you being in extreme danger from our enemies, the skins. The FBI and the special unit we thought Nasdeo destroyed. With Ava being kidnapped by Kivar I believe that everything we have seen has to do with you. So my question is…”Michael took another breath, glanced at Maria for support then turned back to Liz.
“Is there anything that we should know about Liz that would cause you to be in so much danger?”
And when you think you life starts to get better things like this happens, Liz thought.
“Well….” Liz began….

Chapter 15

“Well,” Liz began, and then the phone rang, interrupting her explanation. Liz didn’t know if she should be happy or angry for the interruption.
“Hello,” Liz said into the phone, peering over to see Tess opening her Biology textbook.
“ Meet me in the UFO center, come alone,” The voice said.
“What?” Liz said.
“For Charn’s sake,” then, the person ended the phone call with a silent beep.
“Great, just great,” Liz muttered to herself.
“Who was that?” Max asked when Liz made her way back to the group. Liz wouldn’t meet his eyes but she picked up her blue denim jacket off the couch and slid it on.

“It was Brodie. Carlos forgot the pepper jack. I’m going to see what’s up. He kept, muttering to himself,” Lies became second nature ever since Max came into her life. But she hated lying. She wanted to tell them about the baby but she had a sick feeling that she should see this person first.
“See,” Michael said, smiling, “ I’m not the only one who forgets the pepper Jack,”

That remark received a hard wack from Maria.
“ Be back soon to answer that question,” Liz said to Maria and walked out of her own apartment and scaled down the spiral staircase that felt coarse underneath her fingers.

*
It seemed forbidding, like everyone knew Liz was up to something when she entered the UFO museum. It was fight or flight now, Liz thought. The old age primal instincts of man and woman. In those times, when man or woman came across a saber tooth tiger they had a choice to fight or run. In this case the body prepares for each situation. She felt her heartbeat fluttering against her ribs and sweat began to soak through her white shirt.
“Hello Liz,” a voice said and Liz quickly tenses. Only recognizing the voice later she saw a bald man in an expensive business suit.

“Hi, I’m Kal Langley and I’m the other protector,” Kal chuckled. “Gee, that was a crap introduction but I assure you, your highness, that there will be more to come. But time is running out.” He pointed to two comfortable lounge chairs park in the deserted museum. The UFO museum was closed for the weekend because Brodie was with his daughter, Sydney and had finished earlier that usual.

So, Liz did the only thing she could do. She sat down and braced herself to bolt when the situation got dangerous. She finally recognized him from the hospital. Everything clicked. “You saw me at the hospital,”
“Hmm,” Kal murmured as he sat on the opposite side and adjusted his black shades. He eyed her up and down and shook his head, as if he was seeing a ghost.
“Oddly enough. You remind me a lot like Ava,”
“Ava?” Liz said, “the punk?”
Queen Havana Dvorjyka from the house of Mava. Zan called her Ava for short,” Kal chuckled.
“Those were the days,”

Havana,” Zan whispered, closing his mouth with hers. The three mooned sky hovering above their shining bodies at Dimara’s rock.

“Like you said,” Liz rubbed her eyes to and shook that vision from her mind. She leaned further into the comfortable soft chair, “Time is not our side,” she had enough of Tess sugary goodness for one day. She didn’t want a history lesson as well.

“You’re right,” Kal replied. He adjusted his tie as if he was about to walk into a very heated court case. “ Your child will move mountains,” Kal said.
“Yeah,” Liz sweetly replied, and then she yelled, tears glistering in her coal eyes. “Why is everyone after me! What’s going on? What about my son Charn?”
Kal sighed. “ I guess I should tell you what you have gotten yourself into,” he cracked his knuckles and cleared his voice.
“ Before time was time our Ancestors prophesied that a boy born from a sired and her King from the Golden age that will end the world,”
“Huh?” was Liz’s reply.

“Okay, I see that you are still using ten percent of your brain. Plain English. You are carrying a child that will end the world. He’s too powerful. A sired means that you have been initiated, or, changed into an alien like Max. But his counter part. His Queen to match his alien status since your human sides have already reached a level that no can break. It like that you both have half of the indigents to create an A-Bomb.”

“So,” Liz voice wavered. “Our…my child is not meant to be?”
“It is,” Kal said. “Okay, everyone believes that the world will end. The sun would eat up the earth or a huge earthquake. Well, it happens that the End of the world is caused when your son take his first breath. Already he is using his powers to prepare you and everything and everyone for his arrival,”

“Maria,” Liz said. “ He is making them have flashes,”
Kal nodded in approval.“ Charn probably sees something you don’t. He has both of your powers, just much more stronger,”
“Powers?” Liz quizzed, and then said after a beat. “I have powers?”
“Yes, and many considering you are Queen. One is premonition but who knows?”
“ How do you know about my powers?” Liz asked.
“I’m your protector. It’s my job,”
“I feel sorry for you-”
“Don’t be,”
“How come I’m Queen?”
“It happened February 2000.”
“The orbs?” Liz replied. She thought about the intensity of what she felt when Max was around. She could still remember the feelings of bubbly giddiness that fluttered throughout her body whenever Max touched her.
Kal nodded. “The whole glowing process was when he passed his queen seal over to you. But it has already been ordained that you would be the mother of the destroyer,”

“So, what’s the point then?” If she was meant to end the world then why is she still breathing? No, she couldn’t think that, not after everything she went through…
Kal only replied. “ Because all that is rubbish. Except the destroyer part. Okay, what I mean is that the prophesy about your son ending the world. It’s not true.”
“How do you-”
“A-ba-ba-ba” Kal held up his hand to silence her. “Well, back before time was time King Xenoliths of Antar ordered the squire to write down the prophecy that the Gods had told him through the prophet Owen. But before anyone knew about the prophecy the King was murdered by Shi-ja-ju, a rebel from the east. So, the squires erased all proof of the prophecy and wrote a false one to protect what ever the message was. It must have been important though.

“Where does this all lead? That doesn’t make any sense” Liz butted in. Why would Shaju, or whatever his name was, murder the King over a prophecy? What was Kal not telling her? Kal ignored her and continued on with his explanation.

“The squires formed a sacred Order and placed a holographic message for the Mother of the Destroyer and passed down the information through word of mouth. My ancestors were the squires while Zan’s was the King’s and the rebel is the Skin’s demi god and Kivar’s ancestor. Which explains why everyone is afraid of him. He possesses god like powers,”
“So, where is the holographic message?”
“It’s the orb,’ Kal replied.

“But I thought that the orbs communicated with the home planet? Nasdeo said so,”
“Well, together they do. But the one you and Max found has the message you need to hear about the Fate of your son’s destiny,” then Kal added. “Also the identity of the mother of the destroyer, the sired was vague but bared the mark of the King. But that information is word of mouth,” except the word of mouth also said that it was destined that Havana was going to be the mother of the destroyer, and Tess isn’t the one pregnant one here, he added silently.

“So what does the fake prophecy say?” Liz gestured her hands up in the air. “That Max is a Hippo and I’m a Zebra?” Liz made exclamation marks in the air like Dr Evil, “Or, does it hold the mystery as to why Michael wears too much moose? Which I might add that he stole from me!” Liz laughed. “If you can explain that, I’ll be most grateful,”
Kal scratched his head. “Like I said before your presence is uncanny…”He glared at her. “For being the next Queen your acting a bit childish,”
“Me Childish? As supposed to Michael who watches Sesame Street?”
Kal ignored her antics and continued on with his spiel. “It says that the king from the golden age and the sired will produce a child called Charn, the destroyer, who will end all life as we know it,”

“Uh” Liz smile fell. “I guess that’s the answer to my question ‘why is everyone after me’ Why my son is sending messages to Maria and Michael. However, Max doesn’t know-”
“ Tell him,” Kal said. “ I can’t protect you forever. Granted I have been laying low. In fact I have been a ghost to the world because I killed your doctor at that hospital. A Skin. Which explains the next problem. Kivar. Word is that he is heading to Roswell to see the mother of Charn,”
“How do you know-”

“It’s my job to know,” Kal replied. “ All I can say to you is this. Be careful. Who knows who’s the enemy…they could be close. Go home and Tell Max. Its better for him to know now then later,”
“Okay,” Liz smiled. She felt her stomach flutter. “The baby,” she whispered, rubbing her stomach.
“How far are you?”

Liz laughed as she walked up the stairs. “ Almost two months….”
Kal called after to her. “If you need me. Don’t worry, your son will know what to do,”
When Liz left a girl with dark red hair and blue-silver eyes, wearing a west Roswell cheerleader’s uniform stood beside Kal.
“If she doesn’t tell him,” Kal said to the girl. “You will have to come out of your hiding and protect her Serena,”
“Of course,” She replied.

*

Liz sprinted upstairs with a little skip in her stride. Picturing in her mind the reaction of Max learning that he is a father-to-be and telling everyone that Tess has been mind warping him, which, she should have told everyone earlier.
Liz got the front door, jammed in the key and turned….
“ Max, did you want any children one day?” It was Tess’s voice.
She didn’t want to hear this. She didn’t want to hear this….
She slithered into her apartment and crouched up against the wall next to the door the length of a small exterior office to shield her from view of the lounge room in front of her. She didn’t seem them, she was grateful for that but she could still hear their voices.
“No I don’t want any children anytime soon,” Max replied.
That was a low blow; Liz placed her hands on her abdomen and closed her eyes. Biting her lips to keep from crying out.

“Why’s that?” Tess cooed. Liz couldn’t picture her snow-white withering hand clamping itself onto his shoulder.
“Because I’m only eighteen. I’ve barely finished high school. I don’t need a kid right now,” Max explained.
Liz then walked past, hopefully to not be seen by them, focusing all her will that they wouldn’t see her.
Then strangest thing happened. She was standing three feet in front of them and they didn’t see her at all.

Chapter 16

It was a dark room filled with lavender scented candles. Outside, Monks sang their gorgonian chant across the hallways in echelon lines, past the room where Ava was held prisoner.
Kivar was smiling as he scratched his smooth face. His faithful minion, Nicolas had just injected Ava with enough sedatives to keep her under until they reached Roswell.
“Have the guards ready when Ava arouses,” Kivar snapped the red clipboard shut and feverishly tapped his hands on the hardback. “In this body I’m only fit for sports such as dodge ball,”
“Oh don’t be too hasty, your highness. The body was lankly before but now you are a Achaean warrior like Odysseus,” Nicolas Praised.

Kivar chuckled. “You know how to keep people in good spirits. How is the harvest?”
“We have managed to build another crop without any mishaps. But with limited resources the suits will only last for six months”
Kivar fiddled with his triskel necklace as he pondered his next set of orders. “ Make sure Ava doesn’t wake up. Have everything ready and make sure Katrina, our representative for tonight’s summit meeting is prompt,”

“Yes sir,” Nicolas replied and eagerly went to work. Kivar crouched down beside the Ava, who was chained like an animal to a small bedpost pole. He smiled and gently tucked a wisp of pink hair behind her ear. “And you know what they say,” Kivar whispered to Ava. “Musicians always get the babes,”

A mysterious power called the Granolith is born and lies in the hands of Zan and his followers. For five years the house of Avon slowly crumbles as Zan struggles to keep the war at bay.

- 1788- Zan and his followers are murdered.

- 1789- Prophet Ray foretells Havana’s soul being reborn and in 218 years time Havana will return, mother of the destroyer, and he shall save the five houses from destruction. She wrote all her visions in the destiny book of Syria: the Goddess of rebirth and Gatekeeper of Destiny.

Topaz Dynasty 1788-1983

All five houses were at war with each other. Trading stopped. Only the house of Indri was interested in peace and remained neutral in the war. The house of Indri became the new voice for the summit.

1935- Talk of reviving the royal four in hope of ending the war and destruction. But, also to rebuild the empire The House of Avon passed Queen Isis notion to clone the royal four essences with Humans. An Alien human hybrid comes to mind and four people from earth are chosen for project Amon- Protector of mankind (their God)

1945: The planet Antar is seized by Kivar and his army. The House of Avon is thrown into Jeopardy. Queen Isis and her followers went into exile.

1946- the ship leaves Antar with eight pods. Various items, including the destiny book of Syria with the instruction booklet joined is sent with the two protectors, two scientists chosen by Isis.

Sapphire Dynasty 1983-
The prophet Harmony has a vision of Havana being reborn.

Czech-Republic- Château of Ashure

The Chateau of Ashure is a placed where the diplomats of the royal families of each house would meet and discuss in private the war that has plagued their galaxy.
Governess Ashensetsu, from the house of Indri, sat at the end of the long whale structured table. The marble fin tail acted as a beverage desk for the pile of unwashed mugs. The other four representatives (Whether they were counts or governess) sat calmly as the oracle Joan, the granddaughter of Harmony and the direct ancestor link to the prophet Owen, was wheeled into the conference room by Raven, a young solider of the house of Maya.

In her chipped voice, Ashensetsu’s tongue was slightly stuck to the roof of her mouth but firmly adjusting her black business suit she remained calm before delivering her speech.

“Two hundred and fifty seven years. Now, for most of you that doesn’t seem that long but two hundred and fifty seven years this war has been going on. And, I might add the war has lasted through two dynasties. A lot of lives have been lost.” Ashensetsu took a huge gulp of her diet cola. “Still. Some of us believe killing is the answer. Well, let me tell you the statistics on that verdict.” She opened up her yellow folder and pulled out a piece of paper. Adjusting her reading glasses she read in a strong, provocative monotone. Any onlooker would think that this was a military meeting rather than a summit meeting for peace.

“ Birth rates have decreased by eighty eight percent in the past two hundred and fifty years. The increase of the death toll because of the dark mist epidemic and the red eye infection: ninety nine percent in the past one hundred years.”
“What does this have to do with us?” A voice hollered from the far end of the table.
Ashensetsu glanced from her paper and asked. “Who was that Raven?”
Obediently Raven replied. “It was Count Deacon, from the House of Tai.”
Ashensetsu smiled. “ Mr. Deacon. It has everything to do with us,” Dropping her files on the desk she got up and prowled around the room. “We are not the Kings or Queens of the five houses but we do know what’s going on. Unless we find a way to have peace, we will not survive another year.” She stood by Governess Katrina from the house of Skijor. “Your King is worse than Zan. Or better still…” Ashensetsu chuckled. Ashensetsu glanced at Count Deacon and Count Paul. The two burly, conniving men were from the house of Tai and Mava. The rep from Avon was a punk girl named Savannah. Ashensetsu eyeballed her. Savannah just laughed it off and went back to filling her black nails.

“Paul and Deacon. Your houses are barely struggling to survive yet alone ready to fight the war of what exactly? “ Ashensetsu waved her hands in the air. Her gray eyes were making eye contact with every person in the room. An act that was considered daring in their culture. “What is this war about? How did it start?” Ashensetsu looked at the shell lights that had been built into the room. Directing the dim blue light around room in endless wave decoration. It was similar to the moon light beams of her home planet. she smiled at that thought.

“Did the war start when the house of Avon wanted power? Could be. Or was it when Princess Valandra fell in love with Kivar? Quite possible. No my honorable gentlemen and respected females. This whole fucking war was about a sixteen-year-old psychic princess falling in love with an arrogant King that was eight years older than her.” Ashensetsu said
without blinking. “Well technically the war did start with the house of Avon lust for power. But when princess Havana refused to marry Kivar and left for Antar. It devastated King Pisces. And then everything went downhill from there” Ashensetsu went back to her black leather chair and sat
down. “I didn’t come here for a lecture on a history that everyone knows about. I came here to show you the light.” Ashensetsu collected her scattered papers and quickly flipped through them. “Viola.” She said victoriously. “What I have in my hand is a letter that has been translated. It’s dated 1789. It’s a letter to Ray’s husband, Juan. It says:

Jade Dynasty
1789

Juan,
It is most depressing for me to inform you that I can’t come back to Yenta for another six months. The visions are becoming more painful now but I must use my gifts in order to shed some light on this confusion.

“Yadda Yadda Yadda. Let’s get to the most important part.” Ashensetsu flipped carefully through the paper to the passage she’d highlighted in lime green.

I foresee great sadness for the next one hundred years. It will be two hundred years before Havana can be reborn. In two hundred and sixteen years the sky will turn dark and Havana will be bathed in blood and death will touch her. I sense get loyalty, passion and love between Zan and Havana. Despite their age difference in the next there will be no distance between them. In two hundred and eighteen years time during the age of darkness Havana will give birth to Charn, the destroyer, and he shall save the five houses from destruction.

“This got me thinking.” Ashensetsu said. “ So I did some searching and sure enough I found something. What year would I be in two hundred and sixteen years?” Ashensetsu asked, waiting for no answer she said. “The year 1999 people. It was an interesting year. Matrix came to our screens. Donuts sold more than hotdogs.” Ashensetsu smacked her palms on the table, jolting Deacon awake who had fallen asleep two minutes ago. Ashensetsu glared at him before continuing her speech

“ September 10,1999. Roswell, New Mexico.” She passed a handful of flyers for each person of news clipping for the exact date.
“There was a shooting at the Crashdown. Apparently no one was hurt. Just a girl with ketchup spilled over her uniform and an unidentified adolescent who fled the scene. This might sound out of the ordinary. But the girl was Liz Parker. She was born in the two hundredth year. Now, you might be thinking I’m being rational but the unidentified adolescent was none other than Max Evans. Or I should say Zan. Bathed in blood people.” Ashensetsu sighed and rubbed her eyes.

Savannah decided that in Ashensetsu silent sigh that she would speak. “My comrades in suffering,” Savannah sat more straight and placed her nail file on the table, folding her hands in her lap. “ It has been two hundred and eighteen years since Queen Isis has kept this secret from the others. Although Isis is still alive she believes that this…secret…should be reveled to everyone, including potential enemies” she eyeballed Deacon. “During the creation of the royal four, which, took more years than people had expected, there was not one but two human hosts chosen per alien form.” She touched the small necklace with the orb symbol (the royal emblem of Antar) and continued. “Something happened when the scientists were experimenting with Havana’s DNA along with the two human subjects chosen. Not one but two defectives was the outcome of mixing the human DNA with the alien DNA. There were three Havana’s, one completely alien, one half human and half alien and the other was completely human.”
“So, you are saying that there are three Queen’s of Antar?” Governess Katrina asked.
“No,” replied Savannah. “They are potentials. Havana was only Zan’s young bride. She wasn’t officially crowned Queen, she was murdered before then.” Savannah glanced at her notes before continuing the speech Queen Isis had written down to be spoken at the summit. “So, while the two defectives were placed in the pods. The third potential was placed in a womb. A young couple…. err” Savannah placed her magnifying glass over the Queens scribbled notes. “By the name of Nancy Parker and Geoffrey Parker of Roswell, New Mexico,”
“So, why send all three of them?” someone asked.
“On reassurance. The scientists were unsure if the third one would survive. But all of them are encrypted with the potential of becoming the Queen and True Havana. “

“Okay, you have lost me. Please explain.” Governor Paul asked.
Savannah sighed. “Look, okay. Think of it as becoming the true Havana. The one who will complete the royal four unit and become the Queen of Antar. While the others will be eliminated. Each of them has a lock inside them and Zan has the key to open any of them in him and when put together will generate a reaction. Meaning, when together she, who is chosen will become Queen. The chosen will go under many challenges before becoming ‘known’ to this world.”
“What about the prophecy of Charn?”
“Some people believe. But in that case who ever has been chosen is the true Havana, and if my calculations are correct is currently carrying Zan’s child.”

Ashensetsu interrupted. “The house of Indri thanks the house of Avon for giving us valuable information. Which will stay within these walls,” she nodded at everyone and she felt the tension rose. “This summit is over. Thank you for your time. I will contact all of you when we need another meeting.” Ashensetsu said.

Everyone groaned. Deacon mumbled to Paul about getting a slice of pizza. There were only three people left in the conference room. Raven, Ashensetsu and sleeping Joan. Her face was sunken into her Indian rug as she lay comfortably in her wheelchair.
“Have a seat.” Ashensetsu pulled out a chair closet to her and patted the leather gracefully.
Raven sat down. His dark hair wisped around his silver eyes.
“Raven….” Ashensetsu sighed. “No one knows yet. But I do. I know that you have been King of Mora for a while now. That’s why I have chosen you to be the keeper of Havana royal ring. I know that when King Pieces gave up and went into exile with Isis. His family was slaughtered like animals. Havana was a rare gem in your people’s lives. It was hard to see her perish. Her two older sisters, Mephitis and Yana were raped and burned, as well as their children. Throth, Seth and Osiris never stopped fighting until the bitter end. There was three years of darkness. Then. Your great grandfather, a humble adviser took the throne and set the course of recovery for Mava. I am sorry for the loss of your father, Gemini to the dark mist. But I know that you will make a great King one day. Raven…I”

“It’s alright, cousin.” Raven uttered and drew out a sigh. “I better go. Thank you for no telling anyone about my identity. I rather help people than feel helpless.”
“May Amon protect you on your journey,” Ashensetsu praised. “When the true Havana is found, give her this.”
Raven nodded, placed the auburn Celtic ring in his knap sack and went back to Joan.
Ashensetsu sighed and rubbed her throbbing temples.
Soon. She thought. Soon Havana will help us all….

Chapter 17

Monday. West Roswell High School.

She was alone.
How did I do it? Liz thought. She concentrated on the small glass tile in the Bio Lab. The tile bubbled underneath her glowing hand and morphed into a circle shape. She knew she had many developing powers but everything scared her. She wanted to be in control of this situation but it wasn’t a science experiment when she was the master, she was the puppet and Fate was her master now.

The bell rang; ending another day of school and Liz quickly rushed out and placed her school bag over her shoulder.
“Miss Parker,” Ms Harvey called out to her as Liz stepped outside the Bio Lab. Liz turned around and felt Michael and Maria looking at her down the hallway. She still owed them an explanation, an explanation Liz wasn’t ready to give yet.

“Principal Wood wishes to see you,” She smiled. Liz felt her face go hot. What did she do now? She slouched her shoulder, bowing her head she breezed passed Michael but Maria managed to grab her by the arm and drag her towards her locker while whispering, “You owe me big time Chicà. What happened last night?”

Liz could smell Maria cedar oil all over. Maria was really stressed. What exactly did her unborn son send to Maria in a form of a vision? Liz withered out from Maria’s firm grasp, rubbed her sore arm and grimaced
“I must’ve lost track of time,” Liz mumbled, opening her locker she saw a photo of the three of them, Maria, Alex and herself at Saint Patrick’s Day festival in 1999. Their shining triskel necklaces gleaming in the sunlight reminded Liz as little sparklers. She felt her stomach curl at the sign of Alex’s smiling face. She turned away and allowed a single tear to fall before closing her door.

“Well, you better come clean. I know you Liz, something up,” Maria glanced at her boyfriend, who was a few feet away, conversing with Kyle before he went to basketball practice. Maria leaned closer. “I give you until Friday to give me an explanation or-” Maria grimaced. “I will tell Max the truth about what really happened on the night of Gomez,”
No, she wouldn’t, Liz thought. Looking at Maria in the eyes Liz felt her the air rush from her lungs. Maria wouldn’t tell Max? Would she? Liz wasn’t really being a good friend ever since Alex….but Maria wouldn’t jeopardize the End of The World so Liz would tell her the truth? Would she?
Michael wondered back after talking with Kyle. “Liz, we are meeting Mr. Evans tonight over dinner about your parent’s will,”

“Uh, okay,” Liz vaguely replied. When did Michael tell her this? She tried to think back but came up with no memory. Maybe…since she has been so consumed with this secret of hers that everything and everyone around her all melted into one babbling blur and only information about her son mattered. The theory sounded reasonable but Liz pulled through with pretenses and nodded.
“Sure, But right now I have to see Principal. I’ll meet you there,” Liz turned to her best friend and hugged her. Maria felt like a cold brick wall, her arms melted to her side but Liz pattered her shoulder. “I promise. I will tell you everything….”when I understand it myself, Liz addressed silently and walked away towards the principal’s office.

*
“Liz Parker,” Mr. Wood said. His dark skin reminded Liz of coffee beans. The room smelled like saw dust and nicotine gum. She scrunched her face up at the grotesque smell. Mr. wood saw her grimace and opened the window.
“I understand that what you have gone through in the past few months have been intense, and grueling.” He opened a yellow folder with her name marked on it. “However you managed to keep a high grade point average that the board of Roswell High has decided that, if you wish can sit the year 12 end of year exams instead of year eleven and finish school this year instead of next year.” He smiled. “I believe you have a lot of responsibility to handle since you have become part owner of the Crashdown that by graduating this year will make you far better off than the latter,”
Liz felt herself bubble inside with happiness! She wouldn’t be a school drop out! She could finish school! She was doing a mini happy dance in her head.
“The test, if you accept will be in three weeks and if you pass all subject you will graduate. But speaking with all your teachers, you don’t need luck.” He smiled.
“Thank you very much for your generous offer, Principal Wood. I will gladly accept your offer of graduating this year,”
Mr. Wood handed her an A3 sized envelope. “Inside are all the details. Good Luck,”
“Thank you Mr. Wood. With everything going haywire…. I really needed some good news,”

*
As Liz walked outside the principal’s office she placed the folder inside her bag to only discover that her disk pack was missing.
Where did I put it? Liz thought, frantically rooting through her school bag. Her disk pack from ancient studies? Where is it?
Kyle, Liz thought. Maybe Kyle has it! Thinking back to class, Kyle wasn’t really paying attention, but neither was she. Still, Liz had her assignment on there and if she wanted to finish school she needed that disk.
So, Liz headed towards the gym, it was after four thirty and basketball was still on till six. So, hopefully Kyle knows where her disk is or else Mr. Byles is not going to be happy come Thursday Morning.

There were five of them. All with fiery hair and sea blue eyes. They looked like identical robots form an army of black and white, and they moved like machines

Pam, Cassie, Kim, Rory and Teresa were jostling down the hallway with their pom poms acting like an extension of their body.
“Well, why isn’t it Miss Perfect Liz Parker,” Pam retorted. “Fucked anyone lately?”
“Even if I did it wouldn’t compare to how many people you fuck per minute,” as the words left her mouth, Liz realized, how much she had changed because of…well…everything.
Pam just glared at her, rolled her shoulders back and continued to walk down the hallway.

Only Rory stood behind and whispered to Liz. “Don’t listen to her. Pam and PMS don’t mix well,”
Liz laughed and Rory continued down the hallway, catching up with her cheerleader friends. But as the five of them disappeared from her sight she saw Pam look back at her, and smile.

Could anything get any weirder? Liz thought. First my parents die in some freak accident, no wait, future Max arrives in all leather and tells me that I must break up with him for the sake of the world! And Then, I’m pregnant with Charn’s child? And all of a sudden aliens pop out of nowhere and tell me that I am Queen of Antar.

“Don’t forget, you’re Ava too,” a sugary voice said behind her.
Liz froze, turned around and laughed. “Out of all the aliens in the world I never expected you, of all people, to be one of them,”
“Things can surprise you,” She replied, touching her long billowing red hair as her blue silver eyes blazed. “I’m Pam Troy. Queen Bitch of Roswell. Why wouldn’t I be?”

Chapter 18

“Your highness,” Nicolas said.
“What?” replied Kivar.
“We have arrived,”
Kivar smiled to himself. “Let’s not keep her waiting…”

**

“Kal said that you weren’t feeling well…”
“What’s that?”
“It’s called a Pestal mortar, in other words, a small mixing bowl that you grind things in,” Serena replied.
They were in Liz’s kitchen, Serena had brought some medicine that she insisted Liz take to soothe the pain during her alien pregnancy.
“All this time,” Liz mused. “Pam Troy…an alien…called Serena…How come we didn’t-”
“Its because I didn’t want you to know. I closed myself from the others because my mission was different from theirs,” she replied, adding a cup of paprika into the mixing bowl and started to grind.
“And what is your mission?”
Serena smiled as her eyes darkened. “I think you all ready know.” She picked up the small saucer of chopped spinach and coriander and dropped it into the powdering mix. “How come? When I spoke to you that you knew- instantly that I was an alien?”
“I’m changing?”
“Close, and yet so far,” Serena laughed. She stopped mixing the ingredients and walked past Liz, who was hovering next to her, to sit on a chair next to the small table. “Come, sit,”
Liz did as she was told. There was something different about Pam-.
Serena, Liz corrected herself. –That Liz noticed when she reveled herself to her. Her eyes were a usual shade of blue mercury, the kind that no matter how you tried you couldn’t get the right balance of blue and silver. It was different out of this world.

“My real name is Serena. My grandfather was one of the scientists who created the royal four, you know them as Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess but- I should correct myself Havana, you are the fourth member as it has been ordained…”
“What?” Liz said. “Four member, Havana? Tess is the fourth-“
“She certainly was.” Serena agreed. “A potential…but she isn’t the other half Max, the King of Antar, truly needs in order to survive this war.”
Liz looked at Serena, her long cherry hair and usual eyes. So, alien, yet angelic. Serena was wrong. She wasn’t Havana…was she? Because some part of her that Liz wouldn’t admit believed it.

“When the royal four were created each alien, this means, Rath, Valandra, Zan and Havana had two human subjects that were chosen because the process of hybridization was compatible cos-.” Serena smiled. “O-kay moving along shall we? Hybridization is when you take a segment of DNA from each species and mix them together to see how –they are related. Humans of course say that there are spaces in the new DNA strand because the amino acids, such as Guanine and Adenine don’t fit. Anyway we have discovered, say, a type of chemical in the gandarium that has rectified the problem. Making the new DNA strand have fewer gaps…. Anyway if one human subject, lets call them A and B shall we? If subject A’s DNA is more compatible than subject B, then subject B is eliminated and the body discarded. Okay, so far, only one human DNA is compatible with Rath, Zan and Valandra. So the other human host’s, who’s DNA wasn’t a compatible match were eliminated….”

**
Kivar walked, bathed in darkness he could see the Crashdown in the distance. He told Nicolas to keep watch while he slowly walked towards Liz’s apartment.
**

…. Serena leaned closer. “But when it came to Havana this is caused an anomaly. Not one, but three Havana’s were created. You were the anomaly. Subject A had resulted in one Havana being full alien, you know her as Tess, and the second, a balance between alien and Human, you know her as Ava. While, subject B produced a fully Human Havana- you, Liz.”
Serena lifted her hands in the air. “The scientists were baffled. They had no time to investigate this unusual outcome because of the war that still existed while they created the royal four. So, they did what they could do. They inserted Tess and Ava into their respective alien incubators because of their alien side the incubation pods could give them enough nourishment until –they hatched. But with you, they could not put you in an alien incubation pod because you were fully human. The alien incubator couldn’t give you the correct nourishment until full term. They had no time to eliminate you, so, they placed you in a human womb. Nancy Parker.” Serena sighed.

Liz’s eyes were glossy as Teddy bears. “My mother always said that I was a miracle. The doctors said she couldn’t have children…”
“I haven’t finished yet. Before they sent the pods away. On reassurance they placed a chemical inside all of you that was ‘set off’ if Max decided to choose his mate, his queen. You see, in fact, not only are you all Havana, you represent an aspect of Havana’s existence. Tess- Havana’s ruthlessness and sense of duty. Ava, her kindness shown towards the most evil of men. And you, most of all. You represent the love that was shared between Zan and Havana.”

“What does this have to do with me?”
“It makes sense,” Serena nodded. “Kal said-”
“Kal?” Liz said, her eyes widened.
“Yes, Liz,” Serena replied. “Kal said that he was told that Havana was going to be the mother of the destroyer. The sired. It makes sense. In September you died- and Max brought you back- changed you…sired you.”
“And I’m Queen?”

**
Kivar could feel his human host scream against him- he knew what Kivar was about to do but Kivar quickly blocked out his cries. He was going to enjoy torturing Liz Parker. He will have no interruptions.
**

“You have passed all the challenges.” Serena mused.
“Challenges?”
“Back in the day not everyone can be chosen as Queen. When a king chooses his mate he forms a connection and passes his seal chemically.” Serena blushed. “I knew that Max chose you because of that eraser room incident back in February 2000. There are three challenges. One when he forms the connection. Two, when he passes the seal. The third challenge, which is the hardest one, and if you pass the granolith will activate the seal inside you. And you’re Queen. In other words. It all comes down to the Granolith. You didn’t choose to be Queen. It chose you,”
“What are these challenges?” Liz asked.
“I cannot tell you. But the granolith can. In time it will be revealed. Possibly when you and Max, eventually use the orb you found, in the pod chamber to see what the message says?”
Liz smiled sadly. “That’s if I tell him.” She tucked a strand behind her ear. “And that’s a big if,”

Serena used her eyes to show comfort. “I know your feelings betray you. But inside, through Charn, you understand why you can’t tell him,”
Liz slouched her shoulders. “I guess apart of me wishes that I could tell him. We can be finally happy…together…but end the world. But inside. I realize that I’m carrying this child. The job of the mother is to bear alone. I have to journey through this alone.”
“But no without help,” Serena acknowledged
“And not alone forever,” Liz corrected. She felt something stir inside her, although it was spoken without words, somehow she knew something was up. “You’re not telling me something,”

Serena blushed, and admitted. “I guess the connection between you and your son is strong. I can no longer hide things from…everyone,” she scratched her neck. “What I’m about to say you may or may not like.”
Liz felt her stomach roll and crossed her arms over her chest.
“This is the same information that has been passed from my grandfather, to my father, and now I to you. When the chemical was inserted into all the potential Havana’s.” Her voice wavered. “When the true Havana is chosen. That’s you. The other two will be eliminated,” Her eyebrows were raised. “It has already begun. The chemical acts like a virus and cannot be stopped. It’s slowly breaks through and infects very cell of their bodies until they can no longer go on,”
Liz breathed in. “So, you’re saying that Tess and Ava are going to die?”
“Yes.”
“What about back up?” Liz said. “Two sets were created as in-case-shit-happens?”

“Yes, but when the true King and Queen are chosen. The others will die. Max’s duplicate, Zan died not only because of Lonnie and Rath’s manipulation but when Max set off the orbs it set off the chemical in Zan’s body because Max was chosen as the king. The granolith chose Max to be King,” Then Serena added. “And you Queen,”
“Can’t you find something that can st-stop it?” Liz said. “Ava is a good friend of mine. I won’t let her die,”
“I know this is hard-”but then Serena stopped, she gazed into Liz’s frightened eyes and she changed her choice of words. “I’m not promising anything. But I will investigate to see if there is a cure,”
Liz touched her hand on the table and squeezed it- “Thank you” and let it go.

Another gut wrenching pain pulsated around her. She touched her forehead and bit her lip to keep it from screaming. She closed her eyes and tried to block out the pain that, for some reason, registered as…fear.
“Serena, can you get me some-”Liz opened her eyes. It wasn’t Serena who sat across her. It was someone who was tall with blue-green eyes and dark hair. Whose smile warmed her childhood. Who’s boyish nature filled her life with laughter. Someone who she thought she’d never see again.
“Alex,” she breathed.

Chapter 19

“Alex,” She breathed. “Is that really you?”
Alex continued to smile at her form across the table.
“Where’s Serena?” Liz asked.
“She’s not here at the moment,” he chirped.
There was something wrong with him. This thing in front of her wasn’t Alex.
“Who are you,” She could feel the dark energy around him, and it scared her and was the result of the pain. Her son was warning her of danger! But from Alex?
“Can you not recognize me?” He pointed to himself and chuckled, but was more like a dark rumble from his throat.
“Ye-yes,” Liz fumbled. “But you are not Alex,”
The Alex-thing placed her hands on her table. “I am Alex, in a way but…”His eyes darkened until it became black obsidian. “Alex is not in the driving seat,”

Her eyes widened in shock. “Kivar” she spat out.
He giggled like a little child. As if this guessing game was amusing to him. “Yeah, how did you know?”
She was about to mention Kal but decided to keep his involvement a secret, and lied. “Serena mentioned to me earlier that you were coming. So, you pulled a Larek on me?”
“First of all. You’re lying. You have only known Serena for five hours. And also.Larek? He only controls Brodie when he needs to. I have control over this carcass twenty-four-seven,”

Liz eyes darkened. “His name is Alex,”
“And such a chatter box too. I never grow tired of his fighting, well, if you call it fighting. I call it whining really? In fact I’m thinking of getting some panadol. You have any panadol?” He waved his hand over the table and changed the colour from amber to a sea blue. “You see. My original powers are great but I cannot use them to the full extent because of this body. However, by using this body I am able to tap into his brain and use all of it to my advantage, including channeling my own powers.”
Liz began to sob silently; she hiccupped to prevent herself from crying in front of him…

“T-all,” Kivar sighed. “Little Havana feeling frustrated? No, I only came to offer you hospitality,”
“Hospitably?” Liz piped up. “I didn’t think…(-hic-).. thugs like you.. knew the word.” Liz locked eyes with her best friend.
No, she corrected. It’s a thing. Not Alex.
“I’m only going to say this once. Which is pointless because it’s a win-win situation for me. Considering all your friends are going to die because of you,” Kivar spat. “After you destroy Earth, I will spare your little brat if you, Havana. Honor your father’s wishes that were spoken a long time ago, and marry me.”
Liz seethed. “I rather die than be your wife, Kivar.” She spat at him. She saw the green mucus slide down his cheek; he didn’t flinch.
Kivar smiled. “I don’t think you remember but a long time ago. Before the war you had this infatuation with me. An amazement and wonderment…but in time you’ll will,”

“Oh, and you sound so reassuring I’m going to forget that you have possessed my best friend and marry you.” She sarcastically said.
“My body will arrive soon.” Kivar soothed, he touched her cheek but Liz flinched, got out of her chair and began to pace backwards. Her back was now rested against a wall near the door. “And you might want to cooperate, Miss because I have the choice of whether or not to discard this vessel of mine after I no longer need to use him,”
Liz froze and colour drained from her face. “What makes you think that I’m going to trust you?”

“You have a choice and your decision could end your friends life much in advance than you think?” Kivar chuckled. “My men are everyone. One (he snapped his fingers) click of my fingers and everyone you held dear will be blood on your hands,”

Liz gulped. Alex now faced her and she didn’t move as his cold hands touched her cheek. “I don’t know why you protest Havana?” his hands moved to trace her collarbone. “Just know that you have two choices. Live these last moments with your friends, and loved ones. Then raise your son in the safety of my kingdom…or” His clod breathe sent a chill up her spine and her stomach continued to roll around in disgust. “Their lives could come to an abrupt end,” His bluish lips kissed her forehead and he moved away, just an inch, so only a small space of line separated them both. She didn’t know she was breathing. How could she?
“And if you think about telling them about this…my men will know.” He smiled and his gaze traveled up and down her body.
This is Alex, she chanted. This is not Alex this is not Alex.

No, She corrected herself. It’s Kivar; he’s just using Alex.

“I don’t know why others go for Tess. Her physique can never compare to you. You represent the inner beauty of Havana. The hair, those eyes and the body that can make men want to die for,” He wet his lips in excitement. He lend closer. Liz knew what he was going to do. She should have screamed but something was forcing her…He was using some kind of force on her. She was frozen in place and retched inside when she felt the wetness of his tongue slide up and down her cheekbones. She felt the tiny prickles off each taste bud dampen her skin. She felt tears fall from her eyes but somehow, she remained frozen as this thing, violated her. He closed his eyes and inhaled her scent.

“Soon, you will realize, that this right,” he soothed, his kissed her frozen lips and moved to her neck and collarbone. His hand groped her bosom and she felt the bile rise up her throat. She screamed inside.
No, she would not take this. With all her strength inside her she kneed him in his groin and Kivar cowered to the ground. Liz darted her eyes around the darkened room. Where was Serena? Gotta find Serena!
As if her thoughts invoked her she saw a small sinister shape curled up underneath the table with a small dark line dripping down her white forehead.

“We have Ava” Kivar growled and brought his knees into himself “And that so called Serena of yours is sleeping,” Liz was on the floor, her knees brought up and she was shaking. Kivar staggered but managed to cower over her once again. He grabbed her and swung her body in-between his legs. His arms were like tree branches and he strapped himself around her waist. She could feel him breathe down her neck and he whispered into her ears. Licking the shell, she could feel himself become aroused. He harshly spoke to her.
“If you don’t cooperate I will take Maria.” He kissed her neck and she could feel him trying to nudge in-between her buttocks. “And then Max. I will slice him up and wear his skin as a suit if that’s what it takes to make you realize that no matter what!” His left hand trailed a circle around her nipple while the other traveled south.“You and your child, when you give birth, his first and only breath will end the world. It has been ordained that you will end Earth. All you can do is accept and live out your last few months in my house, and in my bed. Away from isolation,”

His hand unbuttoned her jeans slipped underneath her pants. She froze and tried to close her legs but she felt him used his powers to make her legs like two slates of cement.

“Shh,” He soothed. He covered her mouth his left while his right invaded her. Liz bit his hands and felt his salty blood pool around her closed lips and flow down her chin and soak her blouse.

“Oh God,” He moaned and his fingers dipped inside her. Liz screamed against him. She felt herself burning sear her flesh and her fine hairs as he continued to dip in and outside her. She cried but no one listened. She tried to open her mouth but she had no opening. She managed to pry one of her hands away only to realize that three deep rivets had replaced her mouth. Kivar had let her go and she snapped her jeans shut and clenched her fits tightly. But she could still feel the sharp burn inside her. She felt her stomach churn over and over as bile rose up and foamed inside her mouth. Liz clenched her neck as she felt she was going to choke. Her hands lightly glowed and her mouth became unsown. She cried out as the gunk from her stomach frothed outwards and sprouted onto the floor. She focused on getting air through and out of her lungs. Her head pounded and she bent over in pain.

“You’re still developing. ”Kivar said to himself. “Your powers are no match for mine. Therefore I guess this little shin-dig is over. Until then, Good-bye my love,” He waved a hand over her eyes and everything became slower. Lights became small fireflies and the humming sound became dull and yawned in the hallways of her apartment. So, she did the only she could do and gave into the dizziness.
