Part 1
She headed down the dark street to her apartment. She hated working the late shift at the diner. But she had bills to pay. She was almost home when she realized that she was out of milk. So she stopped in the all night market two blocks from her apartment. She was by the cooler when she heard gun shots from the front of the store. She tried to stay out of sight and as quiet as possible. But she slipped and knocked over several bottles of wine and beer. The gunman made his way to her stared her right in the eyes and pulled the trigger of his gun. She felt the bullet rip into her body. She laid on the floor not moving face down biting her lip as he kicked her in her ribs. He then left. She could feel herself bleeding to death. But she would never forget the face of the man who had just shot her. She had seen it before a long time ago. It was the same man that had killed her parents. She had nightmares about that man since she was five years old. She heard sirens as she blacked out.

Max Evans had been a cop for three years. He had seen more then one murder. He walked into the store with his partner a veteran of fifteen years. It was easy to see that the clerk had been the target. Why they didn't know yet. He made his way through the store checking for any other victims as well as the shooter in case they were still there. He made his way to the coolers and saw her laying in a pool of blood. He slowly made his way to her he bent down and found a faint pulse.
"GET THE THE PARAMEDICS! WE GOT A LIVE ONE BACK HERE!" He yelled
He pushed her long brown hair off her face and looked at her face. She was beautiful.
"Hang in there. We are going to help you." Said Max
Two paramedics came in and got her ready to transport. He watched as she was loaded into the ambulance and was taken away.
"Let's hope she lives. She may be the only one who can tell us who did this."
"Patterson, think she will make it?" Asked Max
"Depends on if the bullet hit anything major. The only camera is by the counter and the killer took that out when he came in."
"Then she has to pull through."
Max went back to work with his partner while hoping that girl lived to I.D. the killer.

He sat in his motel room drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette. He had the news on. The top story was of the shooting at the market. They had only confirmed that the clerk was dead. But that didn't mean nothing. He had been a hired killer for a long time. The girl may yet breath but she had to be close to death. Or may already be dead and it hadn't been released yet. Cause if she lived then he had a lose end to take care of.
