Home. That's what she was to him and he didn't know it until it was too late. It wasn't until he almost died that he realized just what she was for him. She was his everything but most importantly she was his home. It didn't matter where they were, as long as they were together.
Now he was nowhere. Another nameless, faceless person on a city street. He had survived the attack that his so-called second in command and sister had planned. He didn't know what had happened to her, he didn't know if they had killed her like they had attempted to kill him, he didn't know anything anymore. He barely went through the motions of everyday life, he was barely living because he didn't have her anymore.
He always took her for granted. Always assumed she would be there. He would fuck other women because he was the man. But it was always her in his mind, always her he would come back to. She was always there waiting for him, patiently. Now she wasn't. And he was lost.
He was never a man of hopes, dreams, and wishes. He saw the goodness in her and he loved her for it. She saw him for himself and she loved him for who he was and who she thought he could be. Now he was no one without her. Now he prayed and wished and dreamed and hoped every night. One more day with her was all he wanted. One more day to look upon her porcelain skin, plantinum blonde hair streaked with pink, and her beautiful blue eyes. One more day so that he could tell her she was home for him, she was everything. One more day with her and he would give up his soul just to feel the completeness he did when he was with her. There was no one else for him.
He walked out of his apartment building towards the tattoo shop he worked in. He wasn't paying attention as he plowed down the sidewalk with his head down lost in his own thoughts of her. He collided with someone and reached out to steady the person he had almost knocked over, not even looking up.
A startled gasp sounded from the both of them as his hands touched her arms. He looked up and was met with her eyes, the blue eyes he'd been wishing to see once more.
She breathed out his name, "Zan."
"Ava." her name fell from his lips as if it were a prayer.
And suddenly, he was home again.
