He looked more than a little confused and then a tad awkward as he answers,
"Oh, I'm not in college," He begins hesitatingly,
"I'm...visiting my brother, and he's letting me stay in his room for a few days until I can find another place to stay." There seems to be something he's hiding. Oh my gosh, now I know what people see when they look at me!
"Oh... well what is it that you do?" I question trying to look as innocent as possible. Which shouldn't be too hard for me.
"I don't mean to be nosy." I assure him not wanting to sound overbearing.

She seems to mull that one over for a few seconds, staring at me while she does so, and I get the feeling she's looking for something, not checking me out. Not that I mind the attention. "Oh... well what is it that you do?" She asks a minute or so later, and I stop to lean against the wall. My my, isn't she a nosy one. "I don't mean to be nosy." Aha. Maybe she can read minds too. Wouldn't be the first person I've met who could. Though hopefully she can't because then she'd know how extremely attractive I think she is, and she'd probably also know all about my demon fighting abilities.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand. What do I do? Good question. Now what's a safe job I can answer her with, while still sounding impressive.
"I work for my father's company. We...investigate incidents of all kinds around the country, and try to find their sources and possible witnesses and all that for crimes and such." Not too much of a stretch.
"What about you? Are you a student here?"

He seems a tad timid at my question ,but he keeps his cool. Wow, the boy is good under pressure. I always seem to buckle at the first sign of inquires. After a moment he states, "I work for my father's company. We...investigate incidents of all kinds around the country, and try to find their sources and possible witnesses and all that for crimes and such." Amazing that sounds just like what Angel used to do only his position was more of a stationary one while he gets to travel.
"What about you? Are you a student here?" Uh Oh. My turn. "Actually I go to Boston Bay, but I don't stay on campus. I live in a house with some...uh friends." That's true enough. "You must really love what you do. I've always wanted to see the world ,but my destiny pretty much keeps me here." I reply with a little regret. We make it to the door of where he's staying. He flashes me a mysterious smile ,and I can't help but recipricate. I can't quite figure this guy out.

Actually I go to Boston Bay, but I don't stay on campus. I live in a house with some...uh friends." She says, and it seems like she's avoiding truthfully answering my questions as well. This Buffy girl seems to have quite a few secrets hidden under that blonde hair of hers. And I'm not sure why, but I want to find out what she's hiding.
"You must really love what you do. I've always wanted to see the world ,but my destiny pretty much keeps me here." She adds wistfully, sounding like she thoroughly hates being stuck here. Ah, a girl after my own heart. I hate being cooped up in one place for long. That's why the past few months driving around with Sam had been so appealing. At least until the demons started getting back at me like the one last night. But what destiny is she talking about? That's a little mysterious.
At this thought, my back starts to hurt again, so I move away from the wall. We're at the room anyways, but I don't feel like going in just yet.
"So, there's some big party here tomorrow night or something. Maybe I'll see you around?" I question, flashing my sexiest smile. She seems to be responding to my charm, and I wouldn't mind questioning her some more about what's she's hiding.
"And thanks for helping me with the stuff."

He moves toward the wall and for some reason I sense a great pain with in him. Let's just say I'm good at reading people ,and he's holding back. What is he trying to shield from the world? Oh yeah like I'm one to talk. I've got secrets even from people I love and care about. There's an unspoken battle going between the two of us of who can be the vaguest ,and I find it rather hilarious. "So, there's some big party here tomorrow night or something. Maybe I'll see you around?"
He inquires with the most provocative smirk. Hmmm. Maybe I should follow up my investigation at the party. After all it's only responsible of me to follow through. "And thanks for helping me with the stuff." I grin widely trying to channel the fun loving Buffy with no ulterior motives that I used to be back in my Christian Slater phase. "You're welcome, and I might just make an appearance. I never can tell where life will take me." I answe whistfully.

"You're welcome, and I might just make an appearance. I never can tell where life will take me." Buffy says, sounding pretty pitiful. She must have some serious issues going on, and I really want to find out what they are. I put down the boxes outside the door, and then stand up straight again. I really don't feel like just heading back into the room to show Sam that thing in dad's book, but it needs to be done, and I'm getting nowhere with this girl and her bowl full of secrets.
"Well, this is my little bro's dorm room...feel free to just stop by, he can be pretty boring, and I don't plan on getting stuck with him alone for any long period of time," I tell her, grinning widely. This might be the first entirely true thing I've told her so far. Sam can get a little boring when he starts going on about his classes.
I figure she's about to leave, before I get an idea. I might as well let her know I'm observant, so she can ponder that one for a while. "By the way, I saw you in the diner earlier today. Nice sugar packet sculpture." With that last word, I open the door so Sam knows I'm back, and wait to see her reaction before heading inside.

He seems to analyze my features as if searching for some clue as to what makes me tick. I smile sweetly ,and put up that brick wall to guard outsiders from seeing what's inside. It's pretty obvious what comes next. It time to say goodbye
."Well, this is my little bro's dorm room...feel free to just stop by, he can be pretty boring, and I don't plan on getting stuck with him alone for any long period of time," I laugh whole heartedly and am geniunely flattered by his offer. Maybe I'll take him up on that.
He opens the door and I turn to leave ,but am stopped in my tracks when he speaks,
"By the way, I saw you in the diner earlier today. Nice sugar packet sculpture." Shock covers my expression and I see the laughter in his eyes. So he did notice me at the diner. Biting my bottum lip I smirk,
"Thanks I've had a lot of practice. Maybe I can show you how sometime." With that I flip my head around and start walking to the exit. Oh yeah this guy is different. Good different. I can wait to unveil what he's hiding.

"Thanks I've had a lot of practice. Maybe I can show you how sometime." She says, taking my comment in stride, though I catch a hint of surprise on her face. Good. I like to surprise people. And I have to give her credit for her nice comeback. This Buffy should be an interesting girl to get to know.
I watch her as she walks away, still grinning to myself, before wandering back into the room. Hopefully she's coming to that party tomorrow, because I'm suddenly looking forward to it more than before.
I kick the boxes in with me, and then shut the door. "Okay, Sam, I got the stuff. Sorry it took so long, I ran into that girl from the diner. Her name's Buffy," I tell him, watching as he rolls his eyes. What? I can't help it that girls find me so attractive.

I was still leaning against the door, my whole body shaking when I heard a faint ringing. It took a moment, but then my mind registered that it was my cell phone in the back office. Tucking the two relics into my pockets I make my way to the office and pick up the phone. "Hello."
"Hello?" I hear Maria's familiar voice on the other end and can't help but feel deflated. When I'd seen the house number, I'd been hoping that it might have been my brother or Michael.
"Hey, Maria. I... I just got done with my meeting. Are the others home?" I can't help but ask. Right now, after everything that had seemed to hit me today, I needed everyone together. "Is Liz coming to the house tonight?" I ask as an after thought. I know that if Liz comes then it will mean my brother will be home too. I don't really want to get them involved but I can't hide this from them either.
~Liz~
"Hey there, beautiful," I hear Max's voice on the other end finally and can't help but smile.
"Hi, Max. So... umm... how's it going? Does it look like everything is going to be comfortable?" I can't help but ask, wishing that I was actually there with him. I could be, but instead I'd decided to settle in and wait to meet my new room mate. I just hoped that whoever she was, we'd get along.
It seems strange not having my best-friend around. While I'm waiting for Max to answer a knock sounds on the door and I smile. That must be her. Getting up and walking over to the door, I open it and greet the girl on the other side with a smile, instantly holding the door open. "You must be Lana." I said, covering the phone's mouth piece.
"I'm Liz... need any help?"

Sailing off to the Caribbean was nice enough, checking out the different sites on my boat, but it wasn't the same without Joey to share it with. When my trip there was over, I'd decided that I was going to settle in Boston Bay, not that far from home, but far enough so that no one would really know where I was. Well, almost no one. I did tell Jack and Jen, getting them both to promise not to tell anyone else.
I got a job at a nice resteraunt as a line cook, sometimes even more then that. In fact, it seemed a few times I'd actually been given a temp management when the boss man decided to leave with his second in command. This was unfortunately not one of those times.
Stepping back into the kitchen after having to go and get more meat from the cooler and of course more vegetables, I see Karen of all people walk in. I've had this job all of two months and with this girl, I have no idea what to think. Oh, that's right. I'm still trying to get past her gender bashing. She can't seem to stop blaming me for becoming a prep cook under boss man Brecher's own decision and thinks it's just because I'm a man.
Well... I don't see why little miss law student didn't just do something legal about it. It would be a better way for her to handle things. When I heard Michael over at the grille, I grinned. He hadn't been working here as long as I had, but I liked the guy. He didn't take anyone's crap and handled things with pizzazz.
Stepping toward him, I keep my voice low. "Might want to make certain man-eater Karen doesn't hear you. She might try to set up a law suit." I can't help but joke and then straighten as Karen moves closer.
"Pacey, don't you have something better to do then stand around talking?" Karen admonishes and I can't help but smirk slightly.
"Yeah, I can return to my gender based role here in the kitchen that you seem to think I should not have despite the fact that you wouldn't know what my skills in a kitchen really extend to." I throw back at her, normally not so incensed, but I'd just about had it with every single one of the women that worked in the place today and of course, boss man as well.
I can't help but turn to the task at hand and find myself doing what I often do when I'm given the chance to think. I begin wondering what Joey Potter was up to at that very moment. Had she made her way to college? I could always ask Jack, but I wasn't sure I wanted to know. It would spoil the many fantasies I imagine for her to be living in.
