KYLE
I can't help but frown when Max puts his hand on Tess and she gazes adoringly at him. I bet they would have been Homecoming King and Queen in high school. Well, I better get them apart before they get it on in here.
"I can't believe you never watched Ice Age - that's a damn fine movie." I say casually as I walk past them, "accidently" brushing Tess. Then I frown again and turn back to the two.
"Should we get dvd's or vhs cassettes? We have both a dvd and vhs player at the house."
"Hm, how about dvd's? They have extra material on it after all." Max says and I hate to admit it but, "You are right, man. Lets get the dvds."
I briefly glance towards the adult section and then shake my head slightly.
'Not tonight Kyle, not tonight.' I tell myself a little sad before walking towards the DVD section.

TESS
Kyle walks ahead of Max and me towards the DVD section of the store. Max still has his hand around my waist, keeping me close to him as we walk, and it feels really nice. I casually turn my head in his direction and he gives me one of his big charming grins. I can’t help but blush a little bit and smile back as we saunter over to where Kyle is crouched down looking for ‘Ice Age’ at the bottom of the wall fixture.
He finds it, gets up and walks to the left towards the beginning of the alphabet looking for the ‘French Kiss’ movie while Max and I sort of just stand there, not doing anything. Kyle’s brow is creased like he’s deep in thought as he scans the shelves, and after a few seconds I ask, “Can’t find it?”
Kyle looks over at me, eyebrows still creased, darts his eyes to Max, and I catch them traveling down to where his hand rests around my waist before he quickly pulls them back up to my face to reply with a mumbled, “No.” He returns to searching the shelf, his head tilted to the right, reading the titles.
“Well that sucks,” I say to no one in particular. Max doesn’t say anything except to give my waist a squeeze with his left arm, pulling me closer to him. I rest my head on his shoulder for a few seconds before my eyes suddenly spot a poster for a movie that I know Maria, Liz, and Isabel will so love to watch. I perk up immediately and, stepping out of Max’s embrace, walk in the opposite direction towards the ‘P’ section of the video store.
“What is it, Tess? Find something else you wanted to see?” Max asks, looking slightly perplexed.
I don’t answer him right away, but instead grab the DVD from behind the case and walk back with a smile on my face until I am standing in front of Max again. Kyle has now come back to where we’re standing, waiting to see what I got.
“So, whad’ya get?” Kyle asks.
“Pirates of the Caribbean!” I reply with gusto as I thrust the movie case into their faces. “I soooo love this movie. I have it at home. And the girls are going to be soooo stoked when they see what I selected.” And with that I turn around and walk down to the end of the shelves where the ‘X-Men 2’ movies are kept.

Pirates of the Caribbean? isn't O. Bloom aka Jake in it?
KYLE
Where the hell is that stupid movie? Okay, 'French Kiss' isn't really stupid but I guess the closeness between Tess and Evans irritates me more than I thought.
While I continue to search the shelf for it, keeping my back ot the other two, Tess suddenly walks away from both Max and me, leaving us there confused. She returns seconds later with a dvd clasped tightly in her hands
“Pirates of the Caribbean! I soooo love this movie. I have it at home. And the girls are going to be soooo stoked when they see what I selected.” is her answer to my question about what she got, then she turns on her heels and heads towards the action movies.
"I think I can live with Keira instead of Meg." I tell Max with a grin. Not to forget that Depp isn't too bad in this one either. If only that "I wanna be the next Leo" guy wasn't in it.
"Well then, lets follow the woman." I tell Max and walk over to where Tess stands, already reachign for X-Men 2.

I have to chuckle as our movie selections keep changing and re-arranging. Tess disappears and comes back bubbling with enthusasim for another film.
"Pirates, eh?" I say with a grin. "Sure, that'll be fun." But she's already off collecting the last of our three movies.
"Well, let's follow the woman," Kyle suggests, and of course, we both do.
X-Men 2 turns out to be up on one of the higher shelves and Tess is straining just a mite to get it down. I step up behind her, reaching up as my body fits neatly behind hers, my hand touching her fingers as I grab the box.
"Oh!" she says, turning around, still snug between the wall of DVD cases and me. I can't help but grin at the sight of her perky, upturned face and the feel of her hands on my chest, gently holding her space.
"Got it," I tell her, bringing my arm down to her shoulder. She looks so adorable and cute that for a moment I want to kiss her again. Right here in the video store. Instead, I grin sweetly and touch the tip of her nose with my other hand. "Let's go," I say.
Together, we turn towards the front of the store and head for the rental counter. "All set?" the teenaged clerk asks.
"All set," I agree, pushing the three DVDs across the counter for him to scan.

Great post Isabelle, I love the Max coming up behind Tess bit. Very nice
Poor Kyle, he's going to steaming out the ears if this keeps up hehe.
TESS
I spot the X-Men 2 movies up on the top shelf. Of course. And I’m just short enough where this really isn’t working, although I reach up to try and snag one anyway. Then all of a sudden I’m engulfed by something warm and hard. A hand snakes up past mine and firmly grips the DVD case I had managed to precariously pull to the edge of the shelf. I involuntarily gasp in surprise.
“Oh!” I turn around to find Max standing directly in front of me, and find that my hands automatically reached out to steady myself on his chest. His rock-hard chest I might add.
“Got it.” He says looking straight into my eyes as the hand with the video comes to rest on my shoulder. After a few beats of intense staring, he touches the tip of my nose with his other hand and says,
“Let’s go.”
I’m all smiles as we walk up to the register where the clerk asks us if we’re all set. Max repeats in the affirmative and I wait to see who’s going to pay. Always an interesting battle between guys I’ve noticed, like it makes them or breaks them as men or something. I swear, and men think women are impossible to understand. It’s just money folks, nothing to get all worked up over.
“That’ll be $12.90 please.” The clerk says after scanning all three videos.
***********************
I left it here in case anyone has something cute to write about who's going to pay. If not, then we can just move it along and get them on their way back to the house.

The clerk annouces the the total and I lay $15 on the counter. I look around for Kyle as the teenager counts out my change. He's standing in the aisle, with an unfocused look on his face. I'd think he was bored, except for the way he's biting his lip...
I pocket my change and Tess goes around the counter to recieve the DVDs. "Kyle? We're leaving, now."
"Yeah. Right," he says a bit gruffly, although he does move in our direction. I come up behind Tess as Kyle joins us and we all head out to the jeep.
"This'll be a great surprise for the group," I say, smiling. Hopefully, one of these movies will calm some of the frayed nerves that seem to have occurred this evening...

I stand a few feet away from Tess and Max when they hand the teen behind the counter the dvds. Since Tess is gazing at Max as if he has the power to heal, he can certainly pay for the stuff. Next time, I'll pay ... or at least make a half hearted offer to do so.
Well, if it had been more ... uh, "interesting" movies, I'd have paid but God knows what warrier Anderson would do to me if I'd bring such movies home ... I certainly have some ideas - painful ideas but ...
"Kyle? We're leaving, now." Max's voice brings me out of my musings.
Sir, yes Sir!
"Yeah, right." I say, trotting after them, trying to not stare at Tess' behind. Oh well, a little peeking won't hurt!
"This'll be a great surprise for the group," Max says while holding the door open for Tess - again. I guess I should really try for this gentleman-softie guy thing ... it might get my some lovin'.
"Yeah, unless," I say to Max while opening the door, "people start whining about not wanting to watch this or that or what to watch first, who's sitting where, who's the keeper of the remote, etc."
I'm a spoil sport, so sue me!

Isabel
“Did you want shotgun, Isabel?” Liz asks as we nearer the car.
“Okay,” I start to reach for the door but Alex gets there just before me and opens the door. I stare blankly at him for a second before getting into the car “Thanks”
He grins at me and I feel a smile tug at my lips. Alex Whitman confuses me. Just when I thought I had him figured out he does something that makes me think twice. I thought he was a loser because of how drunk he got and then I thought he was slightly psycho after he hit Max and now, well now I’m not sure what to think. He seems….nice.
When I was talking to him about Liz’s birthday party, he was funny and smart. And he made me laugh. I actually forgot about what a pain he has been otherwise. Maybe I shouldn’t have judged him so quickly.
Maybe I should try and get to know him better before I pass my finally judgment. If tonight’s little episode with Jake goes to show anything, its that I’m not sure a great judge of character like I thought I was.
Ugh, Jake. So beyond annoying.
“So I wonder what the others are doing right now” I say

Ruby!
*runs over and tackles unsuspecting girl*
... Ruby? Ruuuuby? can you hear me? ... uh, anyone having some of Maria's smelling stuff here?

Ruby?
ALEX
When Isabel says yes to riding shotgun (next to me!) I immediatly dash towards her side of the car and open the door for her. She stares at me for a moment, probably wondering how I got there so fast without being out of breath but then gets in, thanking me and not even wearing the slightest frown.
I get back to my door, noticing Liz giving me a wink out of the corner of my eyes. I grin back at her before getting in and buckling up. So far, so good.
“So I wonder what the others are doing right now.” Isabel says when I pull out of the parking lot.
"I guess they also left since Maria and Kyle started packing too." I say with a shrug. "Well, maybe Kyle just used that as an excuse to stare at all the surfer girls without being too obvious." I laugh.
"Max and Tess are probably still walking along the beach." Liz mumbles with a sigh and my eyes snap to her. I feel really bad for not thinking about Liz and her Max-Tess situation or about ...
"Liz, I don't want to be noisy and you really don't have to answer but ..." I exchange a quick glance with Isabel, "... what happened between Michael and you? I know it's not my business and all and like I said, you don't have to answer, I'm just curious."
Glancing again at Isabel, this time without her noticing because I just can't help myself, I wait for Liz's answer - if she answers. Maybe I shouldn't have asked, this really is not my business and I have no right to demand answers, so i'll just tell her to forget about it if she doesn' answer within the next 10 seconds.

Maria doesn't answer my question about where the others are, which makes sense, I guess. She doesn't have any way to know either.
"Well, I guess the house is all ours, then," I say. I take a few quick steps so I'm walking alongside Maria as we reach the door. Of course, she has a key, which is a good thing. I got mine, too, but I don't wanna go hunting for it. Girls are so much more organized, anyway.
We step inside and I'm again hit by the size of the place. How bright and roomy it is - especially when I'm here alone with a pretty blonde girl. "So, wanna do something?" I ask her as we walk through the house towards the back patio. "We're already in our swim-stuff. We could snag the hot-tub all for ourselves. Or take a walk in the garden, or maybe find a quiet place to talk or something?"
I don't know why I find it hard to talk to this girl. I just can't ever figure out what she wants, what she's thinking. I mean, I think she's a real fire-cracker and I could really like her, if I could only sort it out...

Kyle and Tess are back in the jeep and Kyle just has to make some pestimistic comment about the movies causing trouble in the group. Great. Somehow, I'm thinking we'll all do just fine if people keep their grumpy comments to themselves. But I refraim from commenting as I start up the jeep and we head the last couple miles back to the manor.
Tess seems to snuggle a bit closer to me on the ride now than she had been before, which feels nice. I wonder what it would be like if it were Liz, or rather, I wonder who Liz might be snuggling up to by the end of the week.
I pull into the drive and I find myself looking for her, or at least for some sign of where she is. But Alex's Saturn isn't there although Maria's Jetta is parked in its usual spot to the right of the house.
"That's strange," I say aloud. "Alex and Isabel were the first to leave. I wonder why they're not here yet..."
