"I'm sorry for biting your head off."

"Don't be sorry, I wasn't very clear with my words anyway." I say softly.

"It's just that people rather men tend to think I would only go for the overly macho,beefed up kind of guys.And that not what I look for in a man."

Ooookay, I think there is a hidden message in there but ...what if I'm just imagining things? I have a feeling she doesn't tell that many people and I'm feeling that she is trusting me with this.

I softly squeeze her in reassurance. "Guess it is a good thing then that I'm more on the geeky side, huh?" I say quietly. "Besides, I know how hurtful people's opinion can be on someone when they judge you just by looks instead of personality."

Isabel

I smile at him gratefully,"First of all Alex you are by no means a geek...Okay well you did look like one with that awful beard,those glasses and that hairstyle you had." I start laughing when I see his expression "but you're a great guy."

"Second of all I don't think we should bother about what people think anymore.I wasted time doing that for ages.Let's go out on to the balcony." I suggest and lead the way to the door which opens out on to a pretty big balcony overlooking Liz's swimming pool

"First of all Alex you are by no means a geek...Okay well you did look like one with that awful beard,those glasses and that hairstyle you had."

Comments like this lead to two thoughts: 1) Max shouldn't be worried about me dating his sister if Isabel so didn't like my former look and 2) why did she want me to kiss her in the first place if my looks didn't appeal?

I guess my thoughts must have shown since she laughs and adds, "but you're a great guy."

This is almost like 'you are such a nice guy but ... lets just be friends' almost!

"Second of all I don't think we should bother about what people think anymore.I wasted time doing that for ages.Let's go out on to the balcony."

During her 'speech' Isabel starts to move us away from the dancefloor and out on a balcony. It's only now that I'm outside that I realize how loud it is in the house, the silence is more than welcome.

"Wow, Liz certainly has a nice home." I comment, even though I'm sure we aren't here to talk about houses or the great view.

Isabel

"Wow, Liz certainly has a nice home." Alex comments appreciatively and I nod my head,"It's been in her family for the last four generations.Each one has expanded it."

Going over to the stairs that lead down to the swimming pool I sit down on the first and rest my back against the wall,"A pity we couldn't meet up for coffee this week." I say looking up at him

Alex

I watch her sitting down on the stairs and can't help but ask, "Aren't you cold?" then I think over what I just said and shake my head, realizing that we aren't in Alaska, "Forget what I said, stupid question."

Heading over to Isabel, I briefly contemplate leaning against the wall before I sit down one step below Isabel.

A pity we couldn't meet up for coffee this week."

"That just proves that we are two hard working citiziens who don't even have time for simple pleasures like coffee." I reply softly, before turning slightly to look at her. "Maybe we'll have time this week."

~LIZ~

I narrow my eyes at Isabel's retreating back. So she's using me to get back at her brother for something? Boy do I feel used! Oh well. It works for me at this point. I'm actually looking forward to spending some time with the gorgeous doctor. Speaking of which...

I make my way through the crowd to Max and see Kyle standing there too. "Hey, guys!" I call as I get closer. "I'm glad to see you both here!" I think that's everyone that I was really hoping would come. I saw Maria with Tess a few minutes ago.

I smile at Liz and lean in to give her a quick peck on the cheek. "You look good, Liz." Nodding at the swell of people, I say, "Looks like another success. Am I right by guessing that things haven't really gotten started yet?"

She laughs and a mischeivous twinkle enters her eyes. "You've been to my parties, Kyle. You know that the fun is just beginning."

She keeps glancing at Max and I can get the hint. "If you'll both excuse me, I think I'll go say hi to Tess."

As Kyle excuses himself, I remind myself to thank him later. Smiling up at Max, I say, "Hey. How'd your week go?"

Isabel

"That just proves that we are two hard working citiziens who don't even have time for simple pleasures like coffee." he says looking up a me from the step below "Maybe we'll have time this week."

"You're right.We are meeting tomorrow and day after so may be before we meet the others at the carnival tomorrow we can catch a quick coffee" I reach out and touch his hair,running my hand lightly over the top of his head waiting for his reply

I'm about to reply when Isabel runs her fingers through my hair. I don't think it's a sign for hair fetish (hehe) so I guess she really prefers the shorter hair. But how am I supposed to think when she's touching me? Help!

Giving myself a little mental shake, I reach up and take her hand - which is still in my hair - in mine and 'study' it, running a fingertip along the lines in her palm.

"Sounds like a smart plan, Ms. Evans." I say after a moment. "Any special preferences where you wanna drink the coffee?"

Isabel

"Sounds like a smart plan, Ms. Evans." he says running his fingertip lightly along the lines on my palm and I feel a tingle going up my arm,kind of ticklish yet at the same time wonderful

I think about it for a moment,not really able to concentrate on great cafes when he's touching me,"Umm...how about Coffee Beans?" I suggest after a moment and close my palm over his fingers

"Umm...how about Coffee Beans?"

"Sure, I haven't been in one of those in ages." I reply with a nod then watch as Isabel closes her hand over my fingers.

Oh man, I just had to promise that I'll be on my best gentleman behavior, didn't I? God, I'm such a geek! Well, if I wanna stick to that promise, I really need to change the topic.

I probably should let go of her hand too but ... there's still time for that and she's actually holding my hand in hers so it would be rude to pull away.

"Any update on the Max/Liz front? I didn't get to ask Max when he visisted my place along with the others earlier this week."
