Table Four says their Take Off Tacos don't have enough Zest. I'd like to tell them where they can shove those...

Alex swiftly makes his way over to me and starts a jabbering."Hey Maria...little favour to ask of ya...let Liz take a breather for a few minutes and I'll cover for her." He points over to the booth where Max and Liz currently reside looking awkward with one another. That's Alex. Always the Matchmaker.

"Max is a pretty passive guy." I comment before bursting into giggles. "But he is going to kick your ass!"

Moving over to the counter I smile looking back at the twosome struggling to come up with a conversation starter.

"Alex, people don't like cupid. In fact many loathe him. For your sake I hope that goes well." I nod towards the couple before heading up to the cash register.

"Oh and can you tell Jose that Table 7 Needs a Tommy Lee Jone's Bacon Basket and a Mercury Milkshake." I yell before ringing up an elderly couples check.

When I'm finshed I make my way back over to the do gooder and smile mischievously. "Oh and Alex, when you get a chance you need to change into the offical Crashdown Uniform." I gesture toward my outfit before smirking devilishly.

"I think we have one just your size in the break room. I hope you shaved your legs this morning...wait. You are on the swim team. Of course you did." Unable to contain the laughter I head back over to Kyle's table.

Alex

Maria looks over at Max and Liz and smiles devilishly "Max is a pretty passive guy...but he is going to kick your ass. She says pretty much enjoying herself

"I start chuckling "NAH...I think he'll thank me in the long run.Besides I think I can take him in a fight." I say flexing my lean muscles,one advantage of being a jock

"And in any case I was sick to death of both of them tip toeing around each other...some thing had to be done."

I am given my first order and I try repeating it in my head so that I don't forget it as I go to Jose and repeat it mechanically to him

Maria is having a ball with this situation ""Oh and Alex, when you get a chance you need to change into the offical Crashdown Uniform."I think we have one just your size in the break room. I hope you shaved your legs this morning"

"In your dreams you Blonde Witch." I reply with a grin "though I dont' mind checking out the girl's locker room.Any cute waitress in there changing?And these legs" I say patting my thighs "are only bared for the good of the school." I joke before moving away to the counter where Jose has the order ready

*Maria*

"In your dreams you Blonde Witch." he accuses with a playful smile. "though I don't mind checking out the girl's locker room.Any cute waitress in there changing?" he asks with a chuckle before heading over to pick up an order. I collect my tip from the elderly couples table. $10! Not bad. At this rate I will be able to my that Dulce and Gabbona designer dress for the winter formal.

I know you'd think my parents would fund my attire for my dream night seeing as how asI am reasonably young ,but no. Daddy said If I wanted a dress over $200. I'd have to work to pay for it myself. He just doesn't get it. For a lady of my stature in thre hierachy that is high school I must keep up appearances and to be frank I looked stunning in that lil' red number. Only $440 left until I get the dress of my dreams.

Heading over to wear Alex is standing I subconciously adjusted my always falling antennas before speaking. "As a matter of fact I am a witch. The question that you should be pondering however is am I a good witch or a bad witch?"

I snicker thinking of one of my favortie movies. Hey, the Wizard of Oz is a classic. I've made Zan watch it a half a dozen times and even though he complains he totally gets into it when we do the voice overs together. I am Dorthey and he's The Scarcrow. Funny, I always pictured him as the Tinman.

Glancing over at Kyle's table I see Rath eying me. My gaze never wavers from his. hey, I'm not one to back down! "He is defintely the lion." I state out loud before I can help it. Supressing a sheepish smile I turn away so that Alex can't see my embarassment.

"Well, I'd better go refill the sugar shakers before someone drops a house on me." I reply fleeing the scene as quickly as possible.

"Yeah...that would be..." Alex trails off and I'm about to write whatever he decides to order when next thing I know he's standing and taking the order pad and my pen from my hands, pushing me into the booth. "Liz you need a break..."

"I can't, I have..."

Alex cuts my protest off before I can completely finish what I'd been about to say. "No no I am not going to listen to anything. You sit here for a few minutes with Max and keep him company...you need a breather.No you will not get fired...I'll talk to Maria." I can't help but look at him with confusion as he makes certain I'm seated before he walks toward Maria. I can't afford this...

Glancing at Max, I don't even know what to say. I don't have any idea, what I should even do. A break..? I barely even take breaks when I have a shift. I glance around and then look back over at Max for a moment, feeling nervous as I place my hands under the table on my lap, ringing them nervously even as I bite my lip. "Is... your order alright?" I ask, having to say something to break the sudden silence that seemed to surround me as I sat there. Other then taking his order, being in a class with him, this was the closest I'd come. I really wasn't any good at this talking thing.

It had become all the harder after my mother had died. "Do you need a refill?" I glance at his glass, feeling my heart racing and thinking that I was going to embarrass myself badly.

Why had Alex done that? And where was Michael... he could have saved me from this current dilemma. Actually... no, now that I think about it... he wouldn't have helped me. He would have been telling me to get out of the corner and talk to Max, tell him what I felt. "Max... I... I'm not intruding am I? I mean... do you mind if I am...?"

Okay, I am such a fool. I should just stop talking. I need to just stop talking because this is just too much. I'm going to make myself seem like such an idiot. I nibble my lip nervously yet again as I look down at the table.

Alex

"He is the lion." Maria states looking at Rath

For a moment I am confused...what the hell is she talking about and where did that come from?But before I can ask she runs off...Aha!so she is running for cover.

Could it be that Lady Deluca has a thing for the bad boy of our batch.Oh this is good...I have something on Maria now.Mentally I rub my hands together in glee as I move to table 3 to pick up the empty plates.

Glancing over at Max and Liz I notice that they are sitting like two dumb clucks...or well,at least Liz was attemtping to say something.Max...now I could clonk him over the head with a bat.

Going towards them,I wave ever so slightly to draw Max's attention,luckily Liz's back is facing me and I glare at him.
'I' I point at myself 'will kill you' I mouth to him and run my finger across my throat just so that the message was clear

"One Will Smith, coming up." She says with a smile.
God that smile…

"Be back with your soda, then if you are ready to order, I'll take that down."
I watch her walk away. God she’s perfect.

"Thanks...is that all you could say..."thanks."
I sigh as I look at Alex and he rolls his eyes.
“I tried ok!” I say looking at the table.

Liz brings the orange soda over and I watch her, fascinated.
"I'll be right back."

"Oh come on Max...what the hell's the matter with you? Can't you say something like 'Liz you're looking nice today' or 'Liz would you be interested in going for a movie tonight?'...I mean anything other than just 'Thanks'."

I look back at Liz. I can’t say that to her! The mere thought of it is stomach churning! The girl could do so much better than me. She’s perfect in everyway. Alex leans forward and whispers.

"If you keep up your 'Silent Stalker' act you are never going to get anywhere with her."

“I’m not a stalker! And I never will because she could never like a guy like me!” I tell him stubbornly.

I watch as Liz approaches us. The jocks have been giving her a hard time again. I sigh. Those jerks just don’t seem to understand how brilliant she is.

"Alright, Alex. Would you like to order anything? Saturn Rings?"

"Yeah...that would be..."
I look at him. I know that tone. The one where he’s thinking something…
This can’t be good. I give him a look praying he’s not going to do anything stupid.

"Liz you need a break..." he says jumping up.
No no no no no!
"I can't, I have..." Liz starts to protest and part of me agrees with her but part of me’s disappointed she protests so much.

"No no I am not going to listen to anything. You sit here for a few minutes with Max and keep him company...you need a breather.No you will not get fired...I'll talk to Maria."

I watch as he gently pushes her into the now empty seat.
'Talk to her' Alex mouths at me.
Oh dear God what has he done!!!

I look at my food infront of me embaressed. I can’t believe he did that!

"Is... your order alright?"
I look at her. Slow motion time again! Wow…she is just so…

"Do you need a refill?" I vaguely hear her say but I’m too shocked at the current situation.

"Max... I... I'm not intruding am I? I mean... do you mind if I am...?"

She looks down and I notice Alex looking at me.

'I' he mouths pointing to himself 'will kill you' he says pretending to slit his throat.

I know he wouldn’t…but he would hurl things at me for a very long time to come.

“Oh no, the burgers great” I tell her quickly.
Ok slooow dooown! The girl won’t even hear you say a word at that rate!
I take a quiet deep breath in.
“And I don’t need a refill, this is great thanks”

Stop with the thank you’s Max!!

“And no your not intruding…its nice…talking to someone…different…”

WHAT! You called her different!!!
“I mean…you.” I say looking down.

Ok damage control quickly.
“You know..erm…those outfits you wear here…you seem to pull them off quite well…”

QUITE! MAX SHUT UP!!!

“I mean…very” I say quietly.

God let the ground swallow me up now!!!
I look round at Alex hoping he gets my deer in the headlights expression.
God Max please…say something…anything!
Anything good!

“So…how are you?”

Smooth.
Not.
Idiot!!!

"Well, seeing as how you are hanging out with Kyle my wild imagination puts you somewhere in a library takling some rough Calculus problems."
Touche!
And then she uncrosses and recrosses her legs. Holy shit…
Her eyes are locked on mine. Oh God… I so want some of her action.
She runs a hand through her hair.

“Hey leave me out of this.”
Shut up Kyle and let the lady flirt!!!

"Well, my break is almost over so I better get back."
I continue to stare at her…God there is no one on his planet sexier than that!
"Have fun tonight ,but don't forget about the help with Bio. Mom and Dad said if I failed my social calender would become nonexistant."

She looks back at me slowly. Hmmmm
"See ya around, Rath."

She gets up from the table and sways away. God she has a perfect arse.

I look over at Kyle. God he’s going to kill me. I give a little uncertain smile.
“That was…entertaining.” I say quietly. “Erm… sorry… just I have to say… your sister is kinda… well… hot.”

I swallow hard. “Look don’t worry I’ll make sure nothing happens… I wouldn’t do that t o you. I didn’t do it to Zan with you know who, I m not gonna start doing it to my best friend”

But as I say it my eyes return to Maria. Hmm…nice… better than nice… gorgeous.
And then she looks at me. Her eyes lock on mine and I have to try very hard not to give a cocky grin.

I see her say something to Alex and dash off. Intresting…

“She so wants me” I mutter.

Oops. I hope Kyle didn’t hear that!

Alex

While I buzz around the cafe,trying to make good as a waiter...I sneak a peek at Max and Liz and immediately I see Max give me one of his 'You've got to help me out here' look but I ignore it and instead give him a thumbs up sign.

As I go to collect an order from the counter I bump in to Maria again and can't help but whisper in to her ear as she passes me "So witches are in to bad boys huh?" I give her a sly grin and nod in Rath's direction

*Maria*

The cafe is growing fairly crowded so as I'm retrieving an order I accidently bump into Alex. In passing he whispers, "So witches are in to bad boys huh?" Flashing me a knowing grin I frown at his ability to read me. That's soo not good.

"You couldn't be furthur from the truth." I state hoping he doesn't see right through me. "I loathe the guy. He represents everything I'm against. He's concieted, antisocial, and he... he.. dresses funny." I finish lamely.

Casting one quick look over in his direction I notice that one of his groupies is making their way over to his table.

"Beside's he's a male whore. He's into girl's like that." I gesture toward the ho in heels.

"She's given more rides than Greyhound."Laughing awkwardly I begin wiping the counter.

Alex

Maria looks flustered for a moment but trys to cover it up "You couldn't be furthur from the truth...I loathe the guy. He represents everything I'm against. He's concieted, antisocial, and he... he.. dresses funny." she says in an attempt to throw me off track.

But I am so not falling for that 'I hate him...I can't stand him' line.That's the one line girls always use when they don't want other people knowing about the guy they are interested in.

*tut tut* I look at her disapprovingly "Liar liar pants on fire." I say in a low sing song voice "It isn't nice to lie to me Maria...don't you know what happened to Jim Carey in "Liar Liar"?" I continue teasing and wag my finger at her in mock disapproval

"My birthday's around the corner...may be I will make a wish regarding a certain witch telling me all her secrets.Anyway,Rath isn't a bad sort...yeah he's a womanizer but look at it as a challenge...try and tame him." I conclude with a wink

*Maria*

"Liar liar pants on fire." Alex teases with a sing song voice and I have to subdue the urge to slap him upside the head. Why is it that my seemingly closest friends know absolutely jack about me and this guy sees right through my Ice Princess routine.

"It isn't nice to lie to me Maria...don't you know what happened to Jim Carey in "Liar Liar"?" he warns as he waves his finger up and down in a scolding gesture. I can't help but laugh at his childish antics. I wonder why I never noticed how funny he was before.

"My birthday's around the corner...may be I will make a wish regarding a certain witch telling me all her secrets.Anyway,Rath isn't a bad sort...yeah he's a womanizer but look at it as a challenge...try and tame him." He finishes with a wink to which I shake my head at insistantly.

"First off, you don't want to know my secrets. I've spent years collecting dirt on everyone. I rule the school. So therefore I have to know everybody else's business. It's like a requirement or something. The things I know would scare you." I explain before setting the Galaxy Sub in front of Mr. Montgomery.

"Secondly, I don't date players, and thats what he is. He's only in it for the chase and let's be honest... I've never been caught. Nor do I plan on being. Therefore it's just a huge waste of time." I reason almost with myself before turning back to Alex.

"I could care less about taming the wild beast. Thank you very much." I finish before heading back over to the cash register.
