What Real Life's Like (AU,CC,MATURE) Thread #1

Sorry, Trude. I'm just feeling a little stuck....

Alex has everyone giggling, including me. He seems to be relaxing and having a little fun, at last. That's good. He seems so tense when he's thinking about Isabel and all that it's no wonder it's hard for him to make a good impression. He's doing a much better job now when he's teasing Kyle. In fact, I think I saw Isabel smile.
I like that smile on her. She's been scowling and angry so much and when she isn't, she's busy acting superior and bossy. At one point I was close to coming right out and asking why Alex was even trying. But now, I see the Isabel I remember from Sunday night and I'm again wishing Alex luck in capturing her affections.
I'd love to say something to her now to re-inforce the fact that Alex is making her happy for at least a moment, but nothing good comes to mind. Instead, I just share a broad smile with her over Alex's antics. It's good to enjoy a moment of simple fun.
Sitting between Tess and Liz, I can't help but feel some sympathy for Alex since my situation with Liz is rather similar except that I'm not trying to enlist the whole group to get her interest since that seems a bit pointless to me. Liz looks so absolutely stunning, it's hard to even look at her. I grin at Tess and softly say, "I had no idea this place had such a good floor-show."

Alex is a clown. More than that, he's clumsy and a geek. I can't believe anyone takes that guy seriously. At least I know he's not gonna give me any competition.
All the other spots seem to be taken, so I sit down with my food next to Liz. She's watching everything with amusement but not offering any real comment. I would never concider her my type, but she's actually kinda cute when she smiles.

I’m quietly eating the food on my plate, listening to the lively conversation, smiling when I think something’s particularly amusing, which seems to be quite often since Alex has found a level of comfort with everyone here. I tear off a piece of the hotdog bun and put it in my mouth when I hear Max quietly say to Tess, “I had no idea this place had such a good floorshow.”
I smile again and look to see him leaning closer to her. I can’t stop myself from wondering how it must feel to have him lean in that close to you. I tear off another piece of the bun when Michael comes to sit beside me. I smile over at him before popping the bread into my mouth.
“How’s the water?” I ask once he’s seated, hamburger in his hands, waiting to be devoured. He would be the only one to know how cold or warm it was. And he didn’t look like it was cold, but that might change a bit once it gets colder. Not to mention that we might have completely different ideas of what warm and cold is.
I'm hoping that it's not too cold. I thought it would be nice to play in the surf, a game of tag with the waves, or just stand and sink as the water ebbs and flows.

Liz looks really hot in a bikini. Even better than I remember from Sunday night, although my eye keeps traveling over to Maria, instead. Liz asks about the water and I give her a friendly smile.
"The water's great," I tell her. "California is better, of course, but this is real nice. You wanna go for a swim after? I could teach you if you don't know how."

no need to apologize for me being a pain in the ass, Isabelle, I mean, unlike you guys, this is my only rpg so I might be a bit obsessed
ALEX
It's nice to see everyone relaxed and not trying to rip open each other's throats. I mean, life is too short to be angry, everyone should think of life as a big party instead of scowling all the time.
Max and Tess are quietly talking about something, I can hear them barely. They seem to get along well which makes me kinda sad. It won't be easy to get Max and Liz together since Max seems to really like Tess. On the other hand, I won't feel guilty if nothing happens cause then Tess won't be unhappy without Max. But then Liz would be really unhappy and ... god that's complicated.
Hm, but then Liz seems to get along quite well with Michael even laughing at something he said. Not that I want to see her with Michael but well ... maybe I can find someone from outside the house for Liz. There are enough guys on the beach, there might be someone for Liz too. Someone that makes her forget about Max and Tess.

I think Maria's just sitting with everyone else, enjoying the food and the atmosphere. But I could be wrong.

“The water’s great,” he answers before taking a rather large bit out of his burger. “California is better, of course,” he says and subtly winks, making me laugh. I’m sure he thinks the beaches there are the best. “But this is real nice. You wanna go for a swim after? I could teach you if you don’t know how.”
“A swim would be nice,” I say smiling and nodding. It would be nice, maybe even get everyone who wants to go out there. “I’m not the best swimmer, and I’ve never swum in the ocean before. But what makes you feel like you’re the best candidate for lessons?” I ask before taking a bite of my hotdog.

I shrug, non-challantly at Liz's question. "I've been a Life-guard for four years. I don't usually do lessons, but I think I can manage it for you. I have a feeling you'll be a lot more fun to teach than a bunch of screaming ten-year-olds."
Yeah, a pretty girl who wants to learn is much different. Especially if they're really attacted to me. I've picked up more than a couple girls by offering lessons. I'd guess almost half of them already knew how to swim, but they'd just pretend in order to get close to me. Not that I was complaining, mind you. Any excuse to have a girl iwearing nothing but a bathingsuit in your arms, is a good one.
And Liz isn't even drunk. Maybe she'll even remember it in the morning. Not like when Maria nearly drowned herself Sunday night.
"So, are we on then? I'll give you a hand after dinner."

“So, are we on then?” Michael asks. “I’ll give you a hand after dinner.”
I think about it as I take another bite of my hotdog and chew on it. It sounds like it might be fun, especially if everyone else comes to play in the surf. And since Michael was a lifeguard, there is some reason to feel a little safer. And he did just swim in the ocean without any problems.
If we get tired of swimming, we could just start a game of keep away or something. I’m sure someone had to have brought a Frisbee. I mean, it’s the beach after all.
“Sure,” I say with a nod. “We’re on.” Hanging out with Michael has got to be more fun than sitting on this blanket alone the entire time. Not to mention that Michael's not even the obnoxious person he was before. Or maybe he still is and I've just gotten used to it? No. If anything it has to be a little of both. Maybe he has toned it down and I have grown accustomed to his personality to some level. But I still hope that he will grow to be more sincere.

Maria doesn't seem too preoccupied and Liz is happily chatting with Michael, so this is a good time to talk with Ms. Deluca, I guess. I get up, careful not to drop my plate or orange soda and walk over to Maria, sitting next to her and Kyle (or Michael, I don't know who's next to Maria) and not looking over at Isabel and Jake in the process.
Maria looks at me curiously and I give her my most reassuring smile. "Do you have time for our talk Maria?" I ask casually, hoping she won't brush me off.
"You mean the get-to-know-each-other talk mixed with talking about Liz's birthday?" she asks back. "Sure."
"Uh, good. Lets start with her birthday." I say briefly nodding in Liz's direction. "That won't take too much time and then we have the rest of the evening to get to know each other. Okay?" I ask her, hoping she's okay with my suggestion.
"No problem with that Alex. What do you have planned?" Maria asks interested.
"Not much." I admit. "I thought since you are a local, you might know some place where we can celebrate."
"Like the club we visited the first night?" she asks and I think that Isabel and Jake are listening on our conversation which can't be easy since Maria and I are talking quietly so Liz can't hear us.
"Liz didn't really strike me as a party animal so far." I say and Maria nods thoughtfully. "How about ... a restaurant with a club attached so we can first have dinner and then go dancing? You know a place like that?"

I chat casually with Tess and the others as dinner continues. I keep wishing for a good opportunity to talk to Liz and ... um ... figure out what she wants for her birthday. Yeah, that's it. ... But she doesn't often look in my direction and I can't seem to catch her eye. She seems to be enjoying her conversation with Michael, 'tho...
It doesn't take long for Kyle's good cooking to disappear, and I get up to throw the leavings away. "Can I take your plate, Tess?" I ask. She nods, handing it to me. I'm about to walk it over to the trash bin and then think better of it. There's more than one good reason to use paper plates at a beach fire. I toss both plates and spent napkins into the fire. In a moment, the others are following suit.
"Well, what next?" I ask, generally, smiling at the rest of the group.
"Well, we're at the beach and we're all in our swimwear," Liz grins. "I think it's time to go swimming."
Tess beams at me. "What a great idea," she says. "You can lose that tee-shirt."
I flush a little at that, hoping the tops of my ears aren't turning red. I've always been told it's rude to eat without a shirt on, although I realize Michael and Jake were both bare-chested and nobody seemed to mind. The girls were all in just their swimwear, too, which, I have to admit, was very easy on the eyes. Especially Liz....
"Sure, that seems like a good idea," I say, peeling off my shirt as our other housemates start disposing of their own plates in the fire. "We don't want to wait until it gets too cold."
Maria laughs, hearing that. "It's Florida in July. Unless it's a big rainstorm, it's never too cold to swim, even at midnight."
"Oh, Okay," I say, trying to sound light and easy.
Tess smiles, reaching up to touch my face as she whispers back. Then she moves her hand down, running it over my shoulders and down the front of my chest. She grins, and I wonder just what she's thinking. Before I can ask, 'tho, she takes my hand and steps towards the water. "We're going in guys. Who else is coming? Kyle?"

it's not great, but it is something:
ALEX
Maria and I had a great talk and really fun. Well, I had but then she laughed too while we talked so I guess she didn't think it was bad talking to me. And it is a real shame that Kyle won't cook for us, because what he made tonight is really tasting great.
Max is the first to clear his plate and throw the remaining stuff into the fire and asks what we are about to do next.
"Well, we're at the beach and we're all in our swimwear," Liz grins. "I think it's time to go swimming."
Liz and Michael are sharing a secret grin after she said that and I really wonder what that is about. But well, Michael is behavig nice so I guess it's a good thing that he spents time with Liz.
Tess really teases Max then and the poor boy looks damn embarrassed. It really isn't easy to not laugh at him but I manage it. Michael and Kyle aren't looking too happy at the antics of those two.
Tess invites Kyle swimming with her and Max who is now shirtless, Kyle looks surprised at first but then grins back at Tess, strips his shirt and follows Michael, Max, Tess and Liz into the water. The small rest of us is still sitting in the sand, me being the only one who's still wearing something else over my swimm shorts.
"Enjoying the view?." I tease Maria when I notice her staring after the guys. I wonder who she's interested. Probably Max considering how all the girls lusted after him the first few days. Or maybe she has fantasies about all three of them.
"You bet I do, sweetie pie!" Maria shots back with a grin. "Jealous?"
"Hell yes! You've broken my heart, girl." I say over dramatically, holding my heart as if wounded, causing Maria to laugh more.
