Hope everyone had a great holiday. I finally finished the next part and it is a bit of a transition part. Hopefully I'll gett the next part done by the end of next week.

Part 45
Michael put the dirty dishes in the sink.

“This was nice.” A voice from behind him said.

He turned around to find Liz bringing in some more dishes. The four of them had just finished dinner and were doing the cleanup.

“Working at the Crashdown actually paid off.”

Michael arched his eyebrows at her.

“Michael’s always had a knack for cooking.” Max said.

He walked over and gave her a peck on the cheek.

“Yeah, I’m sure Jose has no idea how to make fresh Marinara Sauce.” Michael added.

“Well maybe you should be in culinary school.” Liz said.

“Nah I enjoy cooking but I’ve had enough of it being my job.”

“So you have any idea what you want to do then?” Max asked.

Max had been slightly absorbed in his own life that he really didn’t know what was going on in his best friend’s life. He had enjoyed this night catching up with two of his closest friends.

“Actually I’ve been taking a few math and drawing classes and I think I might like to be an architect.”

“Uh, Michael you do realize that would require some Science and math classes right.”

Michael shrugged.

“Yeah but I pretty much think I’ve got that covered. In high school it wasn’t that I couldn’t do the work it was that I just didn’t see any need for it. I thought that I would be leaving, so why bother. Things have changed.”

Michael wiped his hands with the dish towel and threw it down on the counter.

“Besides if I need any help I live with miss science.” He said throwing Liz a smirk.

Liz smiled.

“Any help you need.”

“I knew it would eventually pay off to live with geeks.”

Liz picked up the dish-towel and threw it at him and laughed.

“Hey watch it that geek is my girlfriend.” Max said as he caught the dish-towel Michael had thrown back at Liz.

“Speaking of girlfriends where is my Fiancé?”

“Her mother called a few minutes ago.”

“Isn’t it kind of late?” Max asked.

“Not for those two they’re probably talking wedding plans, like what type of flowers and crap like that. It could be a while.”

“And this is just for her Mother’s wedding. They haven’t even started planning ours.”

The three of them walked back into the Living room and sat on the couch.

“When was the last time that the four of us just hung out with out their being an Alien or human crises.” Max asked.

“I think this is the first time actually.” Liz said.

“Think again.” Came Maria’s voice from the stairs.

She was pale and slightly shaking. Michael immediately ran to her and Max and Liz followed close behind.

“Maria what is it?” Michael asked.

Maria looked at him her green eyes shining with unshed tears. How was she going to tell him this?

“What’s wrong?” He asked again when she didn’t respond.

“Michael… It’s Kyle.” She began.

The minute Michael heard Kyle’s name he tensed up.

“He’s missing.” She finished quickly as she watched the emotions play out on his face.

“They found his car abandoned by the side of the road. The sheriff and my father went to go check the area out.”

“Your father?” Liz asked.

“Apparently, Kyle’s mother knew something was wrong and went to see Jim.”

“She had seen him earlier.” She said meeting Michael’s eyes.

“Damn it! I should have known.” Michael yelled.

“This is not your fault Michael.” Maria said placing her hand on his shoulder.

“I never should have let him go alone. God only knows how he reacted. I should have known something was wrong with him.”

“Michael, Maria’s right there is no way any of us could have known this was going to happen.” Liz said.

Michael looked at her pools of tears threatened to fall from his eyes.

“Damn it!” He yelled and punched the wall.

Max and Liz stood in shock and shot Maria with a questioning glance. They were all upset about this news but Michael was taking it very hard and neither of them had any idea why.
Maria avoided their looks and walked over to Michael.

“We don’t know anything yet Michael. He probably got drunk and he is sleeping it off some where. You have to calm down.”

Michael’s body relaxed as Maria spoke to him. She truly was his calming force.

“We are going to Roswell. I’ll go grab our bags.” Michael said and then placed a kiss on her lips.

When Max was sure that Michael was upstairs he turned to Maria.

“What was that all about?” He asked still in shock from what he had just witnessed.

Maria sighed.

“It’s a long story but the short version is that Michael and Kyle are brothers.”

“What?!” Liz and Max said in unison.

“Twins to be exact.” She added as she walked toward the door.

“I’ll give you the long version in the car and trust me it’s a doosie.”

As she walked out the door she didn’t even notice them picking their jaws up off the floor.

)*********************************************************************

“Wow Michael that is amazing. All this time you’ve been searching for a family and it was here all the time.” Liz said.

They had spent the last hour listening to Maria recount the tale of Michael’s birth and his relationship to Kyle. They had been surprised to say the least. After Maria had finished they had sat in silence until Liz had taken the initiative to break the silence.

Michael just grunted and focused on the road ahead of him. He knew that they had questions but at this moment he didn’t have time to answer them. He needed to get to Roswell and to Kyle before it was too late. As much as they tried to get him to believe that Kyle was fine somewhere deep inside he knew that wasn’t the case. He just sensed it.

“Twins have always fascinated me. They share a special bond unlike any other.” Liz said as if reading Michaels mind.

“Well Liz I think that happens only when the twins are biologically related.”

Max had sat quietly till this point not knowing what to make of this new development. He didn’t know what it meant or how it would impact them all.

Michael shot him a glance through the rear view mirror which he missed but Liz caught. She didn’t know what she sensed from Max but something was definitely bothering him and she could see that the comment he had made had bothered Michael.

“That’s not true.” Maria said sensing her fiancé tense.

“Maria’s right. I remember reading about this case where a woman went to a fertility clinic and got implanted with her eggs and another woman’s by accident. One of the twins was hers and the other wasn’t. When she gave birth she had to give the baby to the biological parents. The couples stayed in t ouch and the found that when either of the twins was stressed or in some sort of pain the other somehow sensed it.” Liz said.

Max shrugged his shoulders and gave Liz a half smile.

“Ever the scientist Liz.” He said.

After that the four of them sat in silence lost in their own thoughts as they moved closer to Roswell and the fate of Kyle.

*)***************************************************************************

Michael pulled the car in front of the Valenti home.

The four exited the vehicle quickly.

Michael spotted Kristiana in the backyard and Maria noticed her a few minutes later.

“I’m going to go in and see my mom and KJ.” Maria said knowing that Michael might want some time alone with his mother.

He gave her a smile and a quick kiss on the lips.

“Are you coming Liz?” Maria asked.

“I think that I will wait out here for a little bit.” She answered.

Maria nodded and headed toward the house.

Max watched Michael walk to Kristiana. He watched as the woman looked up at him and embraced him. Michael stiffened slightly at first but quickly relaxed into her embrace.

“Michael finding them doesn’t mean what you had is lost.”

Liz’s voice drew his attention from the scene between mother and son.

“What are you talking about?” He asked trying to play dumb.

“You’re jealous.” She said matter-of-factly.

“That’s ridiculous.” He said shaking his head.

“Is it? It would be perfectly natural. You and Kyle haven’t always been the best of friends and the two of you have a long history filled with struggle. First he was dating me, then he was following us, then you thought he slept with me and I think the thing that hurt you the most was losing a son to him.”

Max didn’t say anything. He knew she was right. He had spent a year believing that Tess’s son was his and that he was a father and then that was snatched away from him. He knew logically that it wasn’t Kyle’s fault but part of him blamed him for that loss.

“Now you’re afraid you’ll lose your brother.” She said when he didn’t respond.

“You’re right.” He whispered.

Max, this doesn’t change what has happened between the two of you. That bond will always be there but you have to let him connect with his family or you’ll lose him.”

“I know. Thank you Liz”

He reached over and pulled her into an embrace. They stood there entwined in each others arms until Michael came back.

“You ready?” Max asked when he returned.

“Yeah. Kristiana told me their location and that Rian is with Jim.”

“Ok let’s go.” Max said kissing Liz on the lips.

He began to make his way toward the car suddenly when he stopped suddenly.

“Isabel.” He said.

“Someone needs to let her know what’s going on.”

“I’ll go.” Liz said.

“Are you sure? She’s going to take this hard.”

“Yeah, I’m sure. I’m sure Maria’s mother will let me use the Jetta.”

“Be careful. I love you.”

“Tell Maria I’ll call her.” Michael said as he got in the car.

“I will. Bring him back to us Michael.”

He nodded his head and finished getting in the car.

Liz watched as they drove away. She knew they would find him and bring him home she only prayed it would be a happy event and not a sad.

I finally got the new part written. Thanks so much for all the feedback and welcome to all the new readers. I hope you like this next part.

Part 46

Maria walked into the Valenti home looking for her mother but instead found an empty living room. She was about to call for her when she saw her coming from the back room.

Amy walked out of KJ’s room and placed her finger in front of her lips when she spotted her daughter.

Maria walked over to her and gave her a hug.

“I just got him to go down again.” She said as she blew a breath from her lips.

“It’s as if he knows something is wrong.” She added.

“Maybe.” Maria shrugged knowing full well that Kyle and KJ did share a very special connection.

Amy noticed her daughters reaction. It was something she had seen many times before. Only this time she knew why she was reacting this way.

“We need to talk. She said pointing to the couch.

Maria was surprised at her mothers sudden need to talk. What could she possibly have to say to her at a time like this?

“Where is Michael?”

“Outside talking to Kyle’s mother.”

“Don’t you mean his mother.”

All the color drained from Maria’s face at her mothers words.

Amy pulled out her vile of cedar oil and handed it to her daughter.

“Here I think you’re going to need this.”

Maria closed her eyes and quickly inhaled the aroma.

“I know Maria.”

Maria’s eyes narrowed not having any clue what had transpired here or what her mother knew.

“What do you know?”

“Everything.” Amy replied.

“It explains a lot. Why you were always so secretive in High School. Why you were always so protective of Michael. The many sleepover s at Liz’s. All of those so called camping trips. Hell I thought you were sneaking around trying to have sex not running for your lives from the FBI and evil aliens.

Maria slumped deep back in to the cushions of the couch. She knew. Her mother finally knew. Part of her was relieved but part of her was panicked because she seemed to be taking it way to calmly.

“Who told you.”

“Your father did.”

“Dad?” Maria asked surprised that her father would reveal all of this to her.

“He was trying to explain to me about why he left. He told me he was part alien. Of course I told him that he was nuts and that maybe he should have spent the last 10 some odd years in a psych ward. That’s when I went to get Jim and when I saw his face I knew. I knew it was true.”

“You seem awfully calm for someone who learned that she was married to a part alien..” Maria said making her thoughts known.

“I wasn’t initially. I went into a fit of hysterics. Then Jim and your father started fighting and then Deputy Hanson showed up about Kyle. Kristiana explained the rest to me.”

“So your ok with this? Me and Michael getting married and who he is?” Maria asked surprised.

Amy smiled at her daughter. How had she missed the moment her little girl became a woman. She had to handle more in her young life then anyone should.

“Am I happy that my daughter has been in constant danger for the last 4 years? No. I wish you could have confided in me. I know that you probably thought I would freak but Maria for god sakes as you so aptly have pointed out many times I was a hippie. I’m into aromatherapy, psychics and numerology. I own an alien themed store for god sake. If anyone would understand believe you it would be me.”

“Maybe you would have mom from someone else but before you are any of those things you are my mother and you never would have allowed for me to be in danger.”

Amy thought about it for a few moments and knew she was right.

“What about Michael?”

“What about him? He adores you and would do anything for you. He would give his life for you. What more could I ask for my daughter?”

She smiled and took her daughters hand in hers.

“So you’re all right with him being an Alien?”

“The way I see it he’s still the same Michael he’s always been. He’s always been part alien so nothings changed. Besides apparently I was married to an alien for seven years and had no clue. At least Michael has been honest with you. Who knows how different our lives would be if your father had been honest with me.”

Maria hugged her mom.

Amy pulled away and looked in her daughters eyes.

“I love you Maria. Promise me that you’ll always be careful.”

“I will. I‘ve got to make you a grandma some day.” She said laughing.

“What are the odds they will be green with huge eyes?” Amy asked only half joking.

“I would say looking at KJ and Lexie slim to none. Those two kids are the most beautiful babies I have ever seen.”

As if on cue a crying sound came from KJ’s room.

Amy started to get up but Maria placed her hand on her knee.

“I’ll go. You try and relax. You’ve been through a lot tonight.”

As Maria was getting up Liz came in.

“Hi Amy.”

“Hello Liz. Where are the guys?”

“They headed out to see if they could meet up with the sheriff.”

“Michael said he will talk to you later and that he loves you.” Liz said to Maria.

KJ’s cries became louder.

“I better go.” Maria said motioning toward the room.

“I’m going to head over to the Evans to let Isabel know what is going on.”

Maria nodded and went to take care of KJ.

“Amy could I borrow the Jetta?”

“Sure hun, the keys are in the basket on the front table.”

“Tell Maria to call my cell if she hears anything.”

“Will do and be careful.”

“I will.” Liz said as she grabbed her keys and headed towards Isabel’s.

*********!***********************************************************

Liz pulled the Jetta in front of the Evans home.

She rubbed her face with her hands. It had been a long day and it was about to get worse. She was not looking forward to telling Isabel that Kyle was missing.

She knew that there was something developing between them. Everyone saw it but Isabel refused to see it, refused to accept it. Part of her could understand where she was coming from. She loved Alex. She had his child and she felt as if she was betraying him by having feelings for Kyle.

However the other part of her wanted to shake her and ask her if she had learned anything from pushing Alex away. She was doing the same thing to Kyle that she had done to Alex and Liz just prayed there wouldn’t be the same results.

She got out of the car and walked the path to the door and rang the bell. It was late but she knew that the Evans wouldn’t mind once they knew what was going on.

She waited a few moments and then saw the light in the foyer go on. She had a full story planned for Mr. or Mrs. Evans but it was Isabel that answered the door.

“Liz?” She said in a half whisper a confused look on her face

When Liz didn‘t respond immediately she panicked.

“Liz? Where’s Max? Oh my god. What happened?” She rambled neglecting this time to whisper.

“Isabel, Calm down. Max is fine. That’s not why I’m here.”

“What do you mean? Do you know what time it is? Why else would you come here at this ungodly hour if something wasn’t going on?”

“There is something going on but it doesn’t have to do with Max.”

“Michael?” Isabel asked,

Liz shook her head.

“It’s Kyle, he is missing.”

“What do you mean he’s missing? I just saw him a few hours ago. We had an argument but he was fine. How could he be missing?”

Isabel was confused and slowly becoming frantic.

“They found his car abandoned on the side of the rode.” She began to explain.

“So that doesn’t mean anything.”

She didn’t want to believe it. She was trying to build a shield of denial. If she could plausibly deny it then it wasn’t true. She couldn’t lose Kyle.

“There were signs of a struggle and…”

Those were the last words Isabel heard. Her bubble had been burst. There was no denying this. Something had happened to Kyle. Her body began to shake. Tears springing to her eyes. She gripped her hair with her hands.

“This isn’t happening again.” She whispered.

She repeated it softly several times. Over and over willing herself to believe this wasn’t happening and when she could no longer bare it she allowed the darkness to engulf her.

“Isabel!” Liz yelled as she saw her eyes roll in the back of her head and the larger girl began to faint. It took all of Liz’s strength to keep Isabel from hitting the floor. She was trying to move her to the bench in the foyer when Mr. Evans appeared, followed closely by Mrs. Evans.

“My God what happened?” Mr. Evans said as he lifted his daughter easily into his arms.

“She fainted.”

“Philip take her to the couch.” Diane said her attention focused on her unconscious daughter.

“Liz what the hell is going on. What are you doing here at this time of night or should I say morning?”

Philip laid his daughter down and then turned his attention back to Liz.

“It’s Kyle. He’s missing.”

“Missing? He was here last night.”

“They found his car abandoned and there were signs of a struggle.”

“Oh my God.” Diane gasped.

“The sheriff, Michael and Max are out searching now.”

“Isabel fainted when I told her.”

“Well she’s breathing fine but she’s not waking up.” Diane pushed the hair away from her daughter’s face.

“I think we have some smelling salts in the bathroom Philip go see if you can find them.”

Philip did as his wife asked.

“The Sheriff must be frantic. I know I would be.”

“They’ll find him. If anyone can it’s them.”
*****************************************&**********************

Dream plain

Isabel found herself on the dream plain. The last thing she remembered was seeing Liz and finding out that Kyle was missing. Then suddenly she found herself on the dream plain. It was different then when she dream walked someone. When she was using her gifts the dream plain was full of bright vivid colors and strings that led to dreams. That wasn’t what it was like now.

She found herself surrounded in darkness. It reminded her very much of the time Laurie Dupree was missing. Only then she had been receiving images. Now she was surround by a dark gray fog.

“Hello.” She yelled trying not to let the sound of fear enter her voice.

There was no response only a swirling of the dark fog around her. She felt cold and wrapped her arms around her tightly.

‘Where am I?’ she thought to herself and closed her eyes willing the darkness to go away.

When she opened them she found that there was a stream of light coming from the deepest section of the fog. She wanted to go towards it to get out of the darkness but she was scared. As she stood there contemplating what she should do the decision was taken from her hands as she began to be pulled quickly toward the light.

Slowly the darkness was leaving and the light was enveloping her and then there was a blinding flash.

Isabel on reflex shut her eyes to shield them from the bright light.

Slowly she opened her eyes not knowing what she would find. She found herself in a large meadow with hundreds of wildflowers surrounding her. The sight took her breath away. There were rows of beautiful fruit trees and she could see a large gazebo further in the distance just past a small hill..

She didn’t know what this was but it was a lot better than the darkness of the dream plain. She heard the sound of voices and moved toward them. She passed the beautiful trees and made her way to the gazebo.

As she came down the hill the sight that met her was not what she expected. It was Kyle and he was playing football with a few of his high school friends. A sense of relief washed over her.

‘This must mean that he’s ok.’ She thought.

“Kyle! Kyle!” She yelled as she ran toward the large field next to the gazebo.

Kyle looked up and saw her a scowl appearing on his face.

As he walked toward her his high school friends disappeared.

He reached her the scowl still firmly planted on his face.

“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked.

Isabel was taken aback by his attitude toward her.

“Kyle I….”

“You what?” He interrupted her.

“Thought you would come and stomp on my heart a little more?”

Isabel shook her head. He must think that this is a dream Isabel.

“Kyle it’s really me.”

“I know who you are you’re the woman who’s afraid to love.”

“Kyle that’s not true.” She said falling into the moment but she couldn’t do that not now. She needed to find out where he was.

“Kyle, your missing.” She tried to explain.

“No your missing out, We could have something Isabel. They wouldn’t want us to be alone but your to afraid to see that, afraid to take a chance.”

“Kyle you need to try and focus here.” She said getting frustrated.

“Focus? Yeah ok lets try and change the subject why don’t we.”

“Where are you?” She asked but he ignored her.

“I don’t want you here.” He yelled.

“I can’t do this. Not now.” He said and grabbed his head in pain.

Isabel ran to him as he clutched the sides of his head. She ran her fingers across his forehead. The dream plain began to fade in and out and she could see Kyle in a warehouse type environment. It all seemed vaguely familiar. Then suddenly she was back in the meadow.

“I said get out of my head!” and with that Isabel was pushed from the dream plain.

Isabel awoke with a gasp, a terrible smell filling her nose and one word on her Lips. “Kyle!”

Thanks for all the great feed back. Sorry it has been such a long time for a new part but I started posting a new story that has been consuming my writting time. It's called till we meet again. I finally sat down and wrote out this next part. Let me know what you think.

Welcome Back Gerry

Stronger Together

Part 47

When Isabel had some what recovered and they had convinced her parents she was fine, she and Liz got in the car and headed for the Valenti’s.

“It was so strange Liz. Nothing like that has ever happened before.” Isabel said as she pondered what she had just experienced.

“Sure I was pulled in to Laurie Dupree’s nightmares but I had no control over myself in them. With Kyle’s Dream I could interact with him.”
“ If it was a dream.”

Liz had stopped at a red light and raised her eyebrow at Isabel’s comments.

“What do you mean if it was a dream?”

“It’s weird but I don’t think that Kyle’s asleep.”

“He has to be Isabel, you told me yourself it’s incredibly hard to get into someone’s head when they are awake.”

“I know but this was different. I can’t explain it.” She said shaking her head.

They were moving again and Liz turned her attention to the road.

“Do you think he knows something is happening to him?”

“I don’t know. Maybe on some level he does but if he did he didn’t tell me.”

“It was so strange one minute we are in this field and the next Kyle is clutching his head and the field is gone and there was a warehouse.”

“Do you think he was trying to show you where he was?”

“Could be, but then why throw me out of the dream like that?”

“I know I have been at that warehouse before.”

“Isabel beside the warehouse where that Congresswoman Whitiaker incident happened when else have you ever been to a warehouse?”

Isabel thought for a few moments and then it hit her.

“I know where he is!” She yelled.

The sudden outburst startled Liz and she slammed on the brakes.

“Geez, Isabel.” She said as she reaccelerated.

“Sorry. I know where I’ve seen that warehouse before.”

“It’s behind the old soap factory. Alex and I were there once.” She said blushing.

“Are you sure?” Liz asked.

“I’m positive. That’s got to be where he is.”

Liz pulled in front of the Valenti house and pulled out her cell.

“I’ll call Max.”

**********************************************(********************

Michael, Max, Rian and the Sheriff looked around for any clues as to where Kyle was.

“Well he definitely struggled with someone.” Michael said looking at the car and its surroundings.

“Look at this.” Max called from where he was on the side of the road.

The three other men walked over to where he was standing.

“Looks like fresh tire tracks.” The sheriff said studying the marks.

“Are they Kyle’s?” Rian asked.

“No, he said shaking his head.”

“It looks like he was dragged over here and put in the car.”

The sheriff said and ran his hands over his face.

“They could have taken him anywhere.” He added.

They stood there in silence for what seemed like an eternity until Max’s cell phone rang.

“Yeah.” He said into the phone.

“Max it’s me. We think we know where Kyle is.”

“What? Where?” He asked excitedly.

“Isabel sort of dream walked him.”

“What do you mean sort of? “

“It’s a long story but she thinks he’s out at the old Soap factory, in a warehouse.”

”Ok, will head over and check it out.”

“Max, be careful. We don’t know what we are dealing with.”

“I will. I love you.” He said.

“I love you too.”

Max hung up the phone.

“Isabel dream walked Kyle. She thinks he’s at the Cheese factory warehouse.”

“Let’s go.” Sheriff said and they all headed for their cars.

*********************************(****************************************

Kyle sat in the gazebo alone. He didn’t know what the hell was going on. One minute he was having a dream about playing football and the next thing he knew he was confronting Isabel.

At first he thought she was just the dream version of Isabel but as the confrontation became more intense he realized it was really her. Before he had a chance to acknowledge this information a pain ripped through his head like no other. Somehow he knew he had to get her out of his head before she was trapped there.

“What the hell is going on?” He mumbled to himself.

“I guess you’ve figured out your not asleep.” A voice startled him.

He turned to look at her, Tess.

“Oh God I’m dead.”

She laughed at him.

“No you’re not dead.”

“Then where am I?”

“Your in a safe place in you’re head.”

“I’ve gone crazy? I thought meditation was supposed to help keep you sane. How did I go crazy?”

Before Tess could answer he continued.

“It was Isabel wasn’t it. She finally sent me over the edge.”
Tess placed her hand on his shoulder.

“Kyle you’re not crazy. I put this place here.”

He narrowed his eyes at her in confusion.

Seeing his confusion she continued explaining.

“When we were together I was always afraid Nicholas would come after you and mindwarp or worse mindrape you. I put this place in your headed so you could go there if you needed to.

It was then that Kyle remembered what had happened.

“Oh, God is that what their doing?”

She nodded her head sadly.

“I don’t know how long this will protect you but it is buying you time for the others to find you.”

“What do they want from me?”

“What does Kivar always want? He wants the granolith, the key and Vilandra.”

“Isabel?”

“No Vilandra. Isabel isn’t Vilandra but he doesn’t care.”

“What about this key?” He asked.

“The granolith is very powerful but its full strength can only be accessed by the guardians and they are the ones who posses the Key. Kivar needs the power to get his men to earth so he can take it over. You can’t let that happen.”

“Why me? I don’t know anything.”

“You know and possess more then you think.” She said with a cryptic smile.

“I can’t say anymore, I’ve told you too much already.”

“Tess, how are you able to be here?”

“We all exist on different plains Kyle. I’m just on a different plain. We are always connected.” She said with a smile.

A look of guilt flashed across his face. How could he have talked about Isabel in front of her? What was he thinking?

As if reading his mind Tess broke the silence that had engulfed them.

“It’s ok that you have feelings for her. I don’t want you to be alone. I wish I could be there for you but I can’t and if it has to be anyone I would want it to be her.”

Tears sprang to his eyes.

”I love you Tess.”

He moved toward her and wrapped his arms around her.

“It’s been so hard without you.” He said as the tears fell from his eyes.

“I know but you’re such a great father Kyle. I’m so glad that KJ has you.”

“He reminds me of you so much sometimes.”

“Really?” She said surprised.

He looked at her with a big smile.

“All the time.”

She pulled him toward the gazebo and sat down.

“Tell me about him Kyle.”

Kyle grabbed his head and screamed in pain.

“Kyle!” She yelled placing her arms around his shoulders.

“I don’t know how much longer you are going to be able to withstand this.”

She placed her hands on his head and sent some energy waves through him.

“What did you do?” He asked when the pain was gone.

“I just helped strengthen this place a little bit.” She said with a sad smile.

“We might not have much time left.”

“Tell me about KJ. Focus on him and that may give you some extra time.”

Sorry for the delay but I have just been focusing on Till we meet again. All the ideas just seem to be popping into my head for that one but I made myself sit down and write this next part. I am not a great action scene or battle scene writer so this is lacking a little bit but it does move the story along a little bit. Let me know what you think.

Part 48

The sheriff turned onto the road that lead to the old soap factory and turned off his headlights. Max was riding with the sheriff and Rian was riding with Michael. It seemed that was a good idea considering all the tension that was between the two older men.

During the ride over the two elder men had told both younger men that Amy know knew of their origins.

Michael had groaned at the news because he had no idea how she was going to react to him now that she knew but he had quickly pushed those thoughts from his mind when they had turned on to the road that led to the soap factory. He had to stay focused.

The four men got out of their vehicles and walked toward each other.

“There is definitely somebody in there.” The sheriff said as he pointed to the warehouse in the back. There was light radiating from the cracks in the façade of the old building.

“What the hell are we standing here for?” Michael said gruffly and started walking toward the building.

“Wow Michael, I think I should lead.” The sheriff said.

Michael put up no fuss and stepped aside to allow the sheriff to lead. He was followed by Michael Max and Rian.

They walked slowly and swiftly toward the building making sure to check for any trip alarms or traps the person or people inside might have set. The sheriff drew his gun as they approached the building and put his back flush to the warehouse. The others followed his lead.

“You two head that way.” He whispered pointing to the left of him.

“Michael and I will go this way. See if you can find an opening or entrance so we can get inside.”

The three other men nodded and did as they were instructed. A few minutes later the sheriff and Michael had reached a dead end.

“Damn it.” He mumbled and then turned in the direction of Max and Rian.

A few moments passed and then he saw Max waving them over. Without a word the two men headed in Max’s direction.

“We found a way in.” Max whispered when they reached him. Max led them to a large whole in the side of the building. Rian was already inside and the sheriff, Max and Michael followed in quickly.

They walked through a web of broken down rooms. Wood and old boxes and machinery were strewn everywhere. They slowly made their way toward the light that they had seen on the other side of the building. They entered a large room with huge bins that had been used to make the soap at one time and saw light coming through the cracks in the wall.

Suddenly they heard a yell. “Son of a bitch! Why is he able to block me? He’s a friggin human.”

Michael and Max both tensed at the voice. They knew that voice but before they could verbalize it Rian did.

“Nicholas.” He hissed.

There suspicions were confirmed when the form of a young boy came into view.

“That’s the infamous Nicholas.” The sheriff said surprised.

“He looks like he’s twelve.” He added

“Don’t let his size fool you. His powers aren’t physical they are mental and very dangerous.” Rian said.

As if to prove Rian’s point Nicholas walked over to Kyle and placed both hands on the side of his head. Then he closed his eyes for a second. Kyle’s body convulsed for a second and the again his body became still.

“What the fuck is he doing to my son?” Jim hissed.

“Mindraping him.” Max said remembering his own experience with Nicholas.

“What the hell does that mean?” He said the anger building in him.

Michael saw that the sheriff was a bout to explode and went to stand near him.

“Kyle has something Nicholas wants and he is riffling through his mind to find it.” Michael said trying to be as calming as he could. Staying calm was not one of his strongest attributes.

“And from the looks of it he doesn’t seem to be having a very easy time of it.” Rian said pointing towards Nicholas. He was kicking boxes and yelling at the only other person in the room with him.

“What could he possibly want Kyle for?” Max asked.

“I don’t know but I can tell you I am not going to stand a round here to find out.” The sheriff hissed.

With that statement he pushed into the room his gun drawn aimed at Nicholas and pulled the trigger.

Nicholas spotted him almost immediately and deflected the bullet.

“Stupid humans.” He mumbled and threw an energy bolt toward the sheriff.

Max immediately threw up his shield protecting the sheriff from the blast. At the same time the other person in the room came rushing at Michael and Rian. Rian flipped him and Michael prayed that he was a skin as he brought the flashlight down hard on the small of his back.

Immediately he disintegrated and there was floating particles everywhere.

“Well, well if it isn’t the mighty King Zan and his second.”

“Let him go Nicholas. He doesn’t know anything.”

“I beg to differ. He was Avarina’s human pet after all. She must have told him her secrets and I will get the answers Kivar wants.”

“Still can’t be your own man huh Nicky. Still taking orders from him and what have you got to show for it? A deteriorating husk of a 13 year old? Must suck to be stuck in puberty forever.” Michael spat at him.

“I made him promise me to give me you’re feisty girlfriend when he finally invades. I’ll make sure I take my hormonal puberty out on her.”

Michael sent an energy blast his way but he threw up a shield and deflected it.

“Did I hit a sore spot Mikey?” Nicholas taunted.

“Enough, out of you, let my son go.” The sheriff yelled.

”Zan, Zan, have you learned nothing. You keep aligning yourself with these humans. They are just liabilities though this one is special to Michael.” Nicholas said as he grabbed Kyle by the hair.

“Are you jealous that Rath has a brother in this world? After all he’s supposed to be your second, your brother.”

Nicholas continued to ramble on. He didn’t notice as Rian slowly crept around the room and was now standing behind him.

“First you’re sister betrayed you, now your second will. It will be a fine day when Kivar controls the earth and I can rule over it with Michael’s pretty lady as my whore…”

Nicholas stopped speaking abruptly.

“Who the hell are you?” He asked.

“Something you must have not encountered in this lifetime an overprotective father?”

Amusement swept across Nicholas’s face. ‘Would these humans never learn?’

Nicholas’s amusement suddenly turned to horror as he noticed the ball of energy forming in Rian’s hand.

“Some dads have shot guns. I have this. Stay the fuck away from my daughter.”

Nicholas could only watch in horror as the energy headed straight for him. It hit him with great force and for the second time that night there was floating particles everywhere.

The three other men stood there stunned.

“Good thing he wasn’t around when you started dating Maria.” Max said to Michael.

Michael just smirked at him.

The sheriff walked over to Rian.

“Thank You.” He said.

“I was just doing what you have been doing all along, protecting our kids.”

The two men exchanged a look of thanks and then headed over to Kyle.

“He’s not responding.” The sheriff said.

“What the hell did that little shit do to him?” Michael said.

Before anyone could say anything further they heard sounds coming from the outer room.

“Shit.” There must be more of them.

Michael mumbled and stood up to fight.

The door crept open slowly and Michael was about to let loose when the sheriff stopped him.

“Michael wait.”

Michael looked at the sheriff and then looked at the figure in the doorway.

“Hanson, what the hell are you doing here?”

“We got a call from a trucker passing by at strange lights coming from her. I just came to check it out.”

“What are you doing here?”

‘Shit, how was he going to explain this to Hanson?’

“Kyle called, he ran out of gas and walked here. He lost his bearings in the dark.” Michael said hoping that Hanson would accept that.

Hanson looked at Kyle sitting in the chair just staring straight ahead.

“What’s wrong with him? Does he need medical attention?” He asked.

Max felt a knot form in the pit of his stomach. He wasn’t going to buy it.

“He’s sleeping.” Michael said quickly.

“Sleeping, with his eyes open?” Hanson said not buying it.

“Yeah it’s a rare sleep disorder. It’s like sleepwalking. He’s had it since he was a kid.” The sheriff added.

“Why is he asleep here?” He asked still not sure if he was buying this or not.

“He fell asleep waiting for us. It’s tough being the father of an infant. The exhaustion must have just overtaken him.”

Hanson nodded his head. ‘It sounded plausible.’ He thought as he stared at Kyle.

“Why don’t you just wake him up? That’s freaky.”

“we can’t just wake him up. It’s like when someone is sleepwalking or having night terrors you have to let them come out of it on their own.” Michael said before the sheriff could answer.

“How do you know so much about this?” Hanson asked Michael.

‘Shit, I should have kept my mouth shut.’ Michael cursed himself.

“Michael and I are Kyle’s roommates at college. The sheriff filled us in before we moved in with him.”

‘Nice one Maxwell.’ Michael thought as he relaxed.

“We are just going to take him back to my place until he wakes up.” The sheriff said as he got on one side of Kyle and motioned for Rian to get on the other side.

“Ok, I guess the lights the trucker saw were just you guys moving around in here but what the hell are all of these flakes.”

‘Shit!’ was the unanimous thought of all four men.

“Soap flakes. We bumped into one of the old bins because it was dark hence the flakes.”

“Ok sheriff I see you have everything under control here. You need anything?”

“No I’m good I’ll see you at the station.”

The four men watched as Hanson left.

“That was close.” Max breathed when he was sure he was gone.

“Where the hell did you come up with that story Michael?” He asked.

“We talked about it in one of my science classes.” He shrugged.

“I guess it pays to pay attention.” He said with a smirk.

“Let’s get him back t o my house and then you can take a look at him.” The sheriff said as he and Rian carried him to the car.

Max only hoped that Nicholas hadn’t damaged him beyond repair.

Part 49

The sheriff laid Kyle down in his old room and went back to the others who were all gathered in the living room.

“What’s wrong with him?” Kristiana asked the worry evident in her voice.

Michael looked at his mother. He didn’t like seeing her so upset.

“We aren’t sure. Max scanned him in the car and repaired any damage caused by Nicholas.” He said trying to sound encouraging.

“Then why is he still unconscious?” Isabel demanded.

Max walked over to his sister and pulled her into a hug.

“I don’t know but I have a theory.”

“What is it?” Jim said hoping that Max could do something to help his son.

“I think that Kyle has escaped into his mind.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Maria asked because she was confused as hell.

“I know what he means. When people go through serious trauma sometimes their bodies send them into preservation mode and they go into a catatonic state.” Liz answered Maria.

“Is that what you mean Max. Is Kyle in a catatonic state?” Amy asked as she gripped tightly onto Jim’s hand.

“It’s something like that. When I was healing Kyle there was a section of his mind I just couldn’t get to. I think that Kyle retreated to this safe place when Nicholas was mindrapeing him and he doesn’t know it is ok to come out.”

“I did something similar when I was being held by the FBI.”

Liz squeezed his hand for support. She knew it was difficult when ever he had to relive his time in the white room.

Jim released Amy’s hand and began to pace.

“So what are you saying he’s going to stay like this?”

“No I don’t think so. I came out of it pretty quickly because my life was in immanent danger and I was with Liz. She helped me find my way.” He said as he looked at her and gave her a small smile.
“We could wait for him to realize it on his own but who knows how long that would take.”

“Or?” Maria asked the question everyone was thinking.

Max let his gaze fall on his sister.

“We have someone tell him it’s ok.”

Isabel began shaking her head.

“No, I can’t do that. You weren’t there. He pushed me out of his mind. He doesn’t want me there.”

“You have to Isabel. He trusts you. He will let you in.” Liz said moving closer to the girl who had become such a good friend.

“Liz I can’t.” She said tears in her eyes.

Maria walked to the other side of her and took her hand. “You can because you can’t lose anyone else. None of us can”

Isabel knew that she was right. She couldn’t lose Kyle even if she couldn’t admit it to herself she loved Kyle.

“Ok. I’ll do it.

Amy began tapping her foot in frustration.

“Listen I just found out that aliens are among us can someone clue me in on what the hell is going on.”

“Isabel is going to tell Kyle that he is ok.”

Amy became even more agitated.

“We can all tell Kyle that he’s going to be ok but that doesn’t mean he’ll hear us.” Amy said shaking her head.

“Mom, when I tell you his I want you to stay calm ok.” Maria said.

“In the past few hours I’ve found out that I was married to an alien, my future son in law is a Hybrid alien and my future stepson has been mindraped by an evil alien. What the hell do you think you can throw at me that I couldn’t handle?” Amy said pointedly.

Maria thought about what her mother had said and knew she was right. She had handled it pretty damn well.

“Kyle may be blocking us out but he can’t block Isabel out. She can do something called dreamwalking.”

“Dreamwalking?” Amy asked.

“Basically when a person is asleep I can go into their dreams.” Isabel added.

“But Kyle isn’t asleep he is unconscious.” Amy pointed out the obvious.

“We don’t know much about our powers but I do know that when Max was being held by the FBI, I was able to reach him when he was awake and when Kyle was being held by Nicholas I was pulled into his subconscious. I think that if I have a connection with a person I can reach them even if they aren’t asleep.”

There were still a million questions Amy had but for now she just wanted Kyle back.

“Ok then lets do this Isabel. I am so glad that you are here and you can reach him.”

Amy grabbed her and embraced her. Kyle was more than just her Fiancé’s son he was her son as well and she wanted him to be safe.

When Amy released her there were tears running down both their faces.

Isabel rubbed her face with her hands and began to walk towards Kyle’s room.

“Bring him back to us.” Jim said.

She turned back and gave him a smile. Then she walked to Kyle’s room and closed the door.

She said a silent prayer that she hadn’t pushed him so far away that he was unopened to her presence and then she began.

Isabel sat down next to Kyle.

He looked so peaceful.

She brushed the hair away from his forehead.

“Let me in Kyle.”

She closed her eyes and concentrated. With in moments she was on the dream plane

It was different then it had been before. There was no more darkness or fog but it still was not the vibrant colors that were usually there and the mist was an unusual shade of gray.

The strings of people’s dreams danced around her in a rhythmic motion trying to draw her in.

She pushed past them and tried to focus on finding Kyle.

“Where are you Kyle? Let me see you.”

She moved around the dream plain searching to no avail. Frustration began to overtake her and tears began to fill her eyes.

“I knew this wouldn’t work. What was I thinking? The only time I was able to do this Alex was with me.”

“Don’t cry Bella.” A voice came from the mist.

“Alex.”

“Follow my voice, I will show you the way.”

Isabel walked toward the sound of Alex’s voice and as she got closer and closer her surroundings became brighter and brighter.

A flash of white light surrounded her and she shielded her eyes with her hands. When she removed her hand she found herself in a meadow and Alex was standing before her.

“Alex!”

She threw her arms around him and placed kisses on his cheeks.

“Oh my God. How is this possible?”

“There are greater forces at work here then you and I.” He said with a smile.

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m here to help you, help Kyle.”

Isabel felt terrible. Did Alex know that she had feelings for Kyle? How could she do this to him after all that they had been through? Did he know that Lexie had called Kyle daddy?

“Isabel, we have to go. I don’t have much time and neither does Tess.”

“Tess?” Isabel asked surprised to hear her name.

“She’s with Kyle.” He said and pointed in the distance.

There sitting in a Gazebo in the distance was Kyle and Tess.

Alex grabbed her hand and they began walking toward Kyle and Tess.

“He’s refusing to leave. He is confusing this with reality.”

“I can’t blame him. You’re here and Tess. I don’t want to leave either.”

Alex stopped suddenly.

“Don’t say that Isabel. Promise me that you will always remember that this is not real, as much as we might want it to be.”

Isabel was surprised by the seriousness in his tone and the look of determination on his face.

“I promise.”

When Alex had secured that promise from her he again began to walk toward the gazebo.

“Lexi and KJ need their parents.”

“Your Lexi’s Father.”

“Yes but I’m here. Kyle’s with you.” He said sadly.

“But Kyle’s not her father you are.”

“I know that Isabel, but I can’t physically be there for her and Kyle can.”

It was Isabel’s turn to suddenly stop.

“So what are you saying that I should have Kyle replace you and let her forget about you?”

He placed his hand on her face.

“No that’s not it at all. What I’m saying is that a little girl needs a strong male role model. She needs to be treated like a Princess and needs to see how a good man treats a woman so when the time is right she recognizes it for herself.”

Tears sprang to his eyes.

“God knows Isabel I wish that man could be me but it can’t. Kyle’s a good man and he loves Lexie and you… I want you to be happy. You more than anyone know that a man doesn’t have to be biologically related to you to be a good father.”

Isabel was sobbing trying to control the emotions that were coursing through her body. She was feeling the loss of Alex all over again but at the same time he was giving her what she needed to acknowledge her love for Kyle.

“I won’t let her forget you.”

“I know that and lord knows Maria and Liz wouldn’t let you even if you tried.”

They both laughed and he wiped her tears away with his thumb.

Then he placed a sweet tender kiss on her lips.

“I’ll always be with you and Lexie.”

She smiled at him and they shared a sweet moment in the sunshine together before they began to walk toward the gazebo and Isabel’s future.

Part 50B

Isabel walked up to Kyle and Tess.

“Hi.” She said as she stepped toward him.

Kyle looked up at Isabel in surprise. He wasn’t going to let her ruin this. Quickly he grabbed for Tess’ hand.

“Tess, look who’s here Isabel and Alex.”

Tess smiled and nodded toward Isabel.

“What are you guys doing here?” Kyle asked.

“I’ve come to take you home.” Isabel said as their eyes met.

“What are you talking about? We don’t have to go home.”

“Kyle it’s time to go. If you stay here much longer you won’t be able to come back.” She pleaded with him.

“I’m staying here. Tess is here. I’m happy here why would I want to leave?”

“Kyle I’m not real this isn’t real.” Tess said as he looked at her

“KJ needs you.” She added.

A picture of his son flashed before his eyes. He couldn’t leave him.

“Why do you care anyway? You should be happy.” He said turning toward Isabel.

“Why would I be happy? We need you Kyle, I need you.”

“You’re saying that just so I will go back with you but it will all change. I may be living here in my mind with Tess but you are living with a ghost in the real world.”

Isabel looked at Alex and at Tess. She felt like she was losing him.

Kyle ran his hands through his hair.

“God Isabel I know that your heart belongs to Alex like mine belongs to Tess. I thought that maybe you could find a part of it that you could give to me.”

Isabel was crying now. She looked again at Alex but she needed to do this.

“You can...” She sobbed.

“You do. I’m saying this here now in front of the two people who hold parts of our hearts that you Kyle Valenti, have my heart. I love you.”

Kyle looked at her in shock. Did she actually just tell him that she loved him, in front of Alex and Tess?

With in moments he had his arms around her in a hug.

“I can’t believe it.” He said.

“Believe it.” She said.

He wanted to kiss her so badly but he knew he couldn’t. Alex and Tess were there and even though they were ok with there relationship he wouldn’t rub their noses in it.

“The two of you better get going.” Alex said.

Isabel removed herself from Kyle’s embrace and turned to Alex. She hugged and kissed him and Kyle did the same with Tess.

Then Alex walked over to Kyle. “Take care of them for me.” He said his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

“Always.” Kyle said as he shook his hand and pulled him in for a quick hug.

Tess walked over to Isabel.

“I’m glad KJ will get to have a mom.” She said as the tears fell from her eyes.

“I will tell him all about you.” She said and pulled her into a hug.

After their goodbyes were finished they were ready to go.

“There is one thing that you need to know. The children are the key.”

“What?” Isabel gasped.

“Those baby’s and the two that will come are meant to be.”

“What are you talking about?” Kyle said taken aback by their comments.

“Think about it Kyle. We were careful and yet KJ is here.”

“I never even thought about it.” He said shaking his head.

“The children are the true destiny and because of that they are in the most danger.” Alex said.

“When it is time for Maria and Michael and Liz and Max to conceive they will, no matter what they do.”

“I better tell Michael to move up the wedding then. All he needs is to get Maria pregnant out of Wedlock and Amy will have his bal…”

“Kyle!” Isabel and Tess yelled at the same time and smiled at each other.

“What? Come on Whitman you know it’s the truth.”

“Yeah, I sure wouldn’t want to be Michael if that happens.”

They had a brief laugh at that and then it was time.

“It’s time for you to go.” Tess said to Kyle.
He nodded sadly.

“We will be watching over you.” Alex said a mask of sadness on his face.

“Don’t look at us anymore. You have to go.” Tess said seeing that they were reluctant to leave.

Isabel looked toward Kyle and their eyes met.

“Take my hands.” He said as he placed them palms up.

With in moments he felt the softness of her skin on his.

They closed their eye tightly.

“Do we chant there’s no place like home now?” Kyle said with a smirk.

Kyle was the first to open his eyes. He was back in his old bedroom. Isabel was sprawled across his chest her hands holding on to his own tightly.

He freed one of his hands from her grip and brushed the hair from her face.

“Dorothy we are home.”

Isabel’s eyes fluttered open slowly.

“Hello beautiful.”

She leaned her arms up on his chest and placed her chin on her hands.

“Welcome back.” She said with a huge smile.

“Glad to be back.”

“There is a whole room full of people out there waiting to see you.”

“Yeah but the most important person is right here.”

He took her face in his hands.

“I love you.” He breathed.

“I love you too.”

Within seconds his lips were on hers. It was a kiss full of passion and promise and some where in the heavens Alex and Tess knew they would be ok.
