Chapater Twenty Four

The rain tapped onto the roof as Liz lay in bed and watched it trickle down the window glass as Max slepted. He then woke and blinked his eyes after hearing a clap of thunder.

He then turned and saw Liz laying there on her side. He snuggled in close to her and started kissing her neck. "No Max not tonight." She sighed as she still looked out towards the window.

"Is it that time of the month?" Max asked shyly. "No It's not that." Liz said her voice trembling as she tried to hold back her sobbs. "Liz Are you ok?" He said as he looked at her concered. "No" She cried as tears ran down her cheeks.

She then turned and faced him. " I was thinking about Alex and everything we have sceen and the visions that we saw through Tess and what if I am wrong about Sweden what if he is not there and all of this is just a bad dream?" She sobbed.

"Shh" Max said as he cupped her face with her hands as he brushed the tears from her eyes and then he let her cry on his sholder as she gasped for breath in between sobbs.

"Liz look at me. I am not going to let that happen. I believe that Alex is out there and is alive we just have to have to have faith and listen to what our hearts tell us." He whispered as he held her close. Liz nodded as she brushed the tears from her eyes.

"I know but some times it's so hard. I mean it feels like a dark chapter in my past is coming back to haunt me. First I lost Alex my best friend and then I almost lost you. I am not sure if I can deal with that again. I'm so scared." She whisperd softy.

"Liz you will never lose me. No matther what I will find a way to be with you." He said as he kissed her passinately. They broke from there kiss and held each other tight. Max then threaded his fingures though her hair while he cupped her face in his hands.

"Your so beautiful you know that. Get some rest. Things will be ok. We will find away." He said as he hugged her and kissed her one last time before Liz sank back down under the covers.

"I know we will." She whispered as she kissed him. "Sweet Dreams." Max softy said as he stoaked her cheek and in a few seconds Liz was fast sleep.

Max looked towards the rainy sliver window and staired at it for a few minutes and then softy whispered "Alex as long as I am living I swear will do anything in my power to find you thats a promise." He said as he looked at Liz sleeping in the moonlight.

Chapter Twenty Four Continued

"How long has she been here?" Tess asked concered as she watched Isabel sleeping on the couch. "The whole night for the most part. She just passed out. I guess the stress of everything finally got to her. "Kyle said as he bit one of his nails nervsiously.

"I feel so bad for her. Wow thats a lot to handel. I mean I can't believe that Jessie just left her! Bastard! I never liked him! Where is Alex when we need him!" Tess said as she crouched down and stroaked Isabels hair.

"Klye Max is wrong! We can't wait! Two weeks is too long! We have to take action now before it kills her and god knows what they are doing to Alex!" She said firmly as she looked up into Kyles eyes.

"Tess what do you mean by they?" He said as a look of puzzlement took over his face. "They you know the special unit who knows if they have him and are tourching him or worse... kill him." She said as her voice grew horse while tears filled her eyes.

Klye took Tess's hand pulling her up towards him. "Tess look we got to trust Max. We will find him. I believe Alex is alive. We just have to have faith if Isabel believes he is then I believe as well." Kyle said as he hugged her.

Tess pulled away and looked up at him with a look of fear in her eyes."But Kyle I am so scared I mean you don't know how powerful they are they trick you... and do horrible things to your mind... and..." Tess gasped as she cried into Klyes chest.

"Tess you are safe they are not going to get you not as long as I am around I mean come on who do they think they are dealing with here anyway? We are some of Roswell's finest and my dad is the sherif so if they pull anything they will be really sorry they ever messed with Kyle Valentie." He said as Tess smiled and wipped her eyes.

"Your right what was I thinking those Secret service agents won't know what hit them with Buddah boy around." She said laughing as she punched him lightly on the shoulder. "Sorry I got carried away I still have those terrible nightmares of when I was tourchered." She said half smiling.

"I can help you, teach you some medation techniques to help you sleep." Kyle said smiling. "Oh really" Tess smirked as she walked closer to him. "Well I can think of some techniques of my own.' She whispered as her fingure traced up and down along his chest. "Oh what techniques would that be?" Kyle gulped as she moved in closer.

"Oh I have plenty let me show you how its done Buddah boy" Tess whispered giving him a seductive look as she moved in closer and brushed against his lips as they moved in for a kiss.

"AW" Isabel yawned as she woke up and streached. "Damne it!" Kyle yelled as he held back his anger after hearing Isabel stir. Tess bounched away from Kyle and made her way towards Isabel. "Isabel your awake!" Tess said beaming.

"Yeah I'm wake. It's nice to see you too Kyle. Just want I want to hear at 3 in the morning is your yelling." She said giving him the eye. "What do they have a rader on me or something! It's always when I am about to get lucky something aways goes wrong!

First it was with Liz now Isabel! I swear I must be curshed! Kyle wined as he paced back and forth. "Oh god get over it!" Isabel cried as she waved her hand as if to say enough is enough.

"Isabel are you ok. I am so sorry about Jessie." Tess said as she looked at her weary friend. "I know it was so hard telling him about Alex but I had to it was for teh best. I mean Jessie is not a bad guy and it's just ashame that things had to work out this way but I can't be living in a lie when my heart belongs with Alex." She sighed as she looked at Tess and then Kyle.

"Do worry Isabel things will be ok." Jim said as he made his way into the living room and sat down next to her. " Kyle told me the whole thing. I am so sorry you have been though a lot and if you need any help or just want to talk to someone we are here." Jim said as she squeezed her tight.

"Thank you. You all have been so good to me. I mean this all happened yesterday and I was toying with my feelings when I didnlt know who to go to I remembered you always said I would have a place and home here.

Jim you were the only person who I considered to be a real father figure to my brother and I we could trust and talk to you becasue you knew our secret and stuck by us in some of our most difficult times.So that is why I came here. I knew I could talk and you would listen and help me." Isabel said smiling at the three of them.

"Look Isabel I as well believe that Alex is alive and there fore I am coming to Sweden with you guys. To see you are safe and protected. Plus your parents liked that I was going." Jim said smiling.

"We will find Alex don't worry. Get some rest you look exhaushed still and you need your strength." He said as he kissed her good night on the cheek. "Good night sherif and thank you for everything." Isabel said smiling.

"Well I am back to bed.This god affal yell woke me up" Jim said as he scratched his head trying to figure out what the noise was as he made his way back up stairs. Isabel and Tess smirked while Kyle yelled to his dad from the stairs "Dad I think it was the thunder. Good night."

Tess caught a glance of the coffee table and noticed a book she had never seen before laying there. "Isabel what is this?' She said looking at it in wonder.

"Oh that was a stargazing book Alex gave to me in Sophmore year. I was doing reseach trying to see if I could find anything about the Northern Lights and Sweden.

I must of forgotten I still had with me during all the the excitement with Jessie." She said as she picked it up. "Welll did you find anything?" Kyle asked with an expression that was as intreging as Tess's was to hear her answer.

"Well I never got a chance to see. Jessie came home before I could look at it. Um lets see." She said as she flipped the book open to find the page. "Aw here it is the Cygnus constalation. See" She said showing Tess and Kyle the picture. They both nodded. Isabel then read out loud while othe others listened.

"The Cygnus Constalation is know as the Swan or The Bird of Return. The constalation is best sceen during the summer months becasue it is so far up in the sky along the Milky Way.

It was named after Cygnus who was the son of Aries was killed by Hercules but later Cygnus was transformed into a Swan when he died.

The Swan was the lordly king-bird of the waters. In classic writings the swan was considered the emblem of poetic dignity, purity and grace. It seems to be flying down the Milky Way, in the same general direction with the river which pours from the heavenly urn. It is thus the bird of matchless beauty, purity, dignity and grace, bearing aloft the cross, and circling with it over the blessed waters of life."

"Thats great but Isabel what does that have anything to do with the Northern Lights and Sweden?" Kyle questioned as he looked at her. Isabel hestated "I am not sure." She said as she scanned the page and then started to read more.

In some folklore some considered constalations to help them tell stories and explain why this were the way they were. In some cases even comets and shooting stars had a meaning behind them as well. One of the most breathtaking sights that has many meanings to it is The Northern Lights. "

Isabels eyes widened as her heart pounded with excitement as she read the words the Northern Lights out loud on the page and continued.

"Because people in Oldern times did not understand what the lights were they oftern created mythology and susperstition to explain the dancing spirits or fighting holders in the sky.

One romantic conception found in Danish folklore is that these lights were due to a throng of swans flying so far to the North that they were caught in the ice. Each time they flapped their wings, they created reflections which created the Northern Lights." Isabel finished as the words she had heard so long ago came back ringing like music to her ears making her heart pound faster

"Don't you worry my beautiful Ice princess there is more fire inside you then ice then you think. Your beautiful you know that. You will find away." Tears came to hear eyes as she remembered Alex's parting words to her in her dream. She had finally figured it out and was now certain he was alive.

"Isabel what is it?" Tess asked concered. "Isabel." Kyle asked as he looked at her wide eyed stair. "It's Alex He is in Sweden. It all fits the clues they all fit! Now I am sure he is there more then ever!" She said smiling as Tess and Kyle beamined with excitement as they hugged each other.

However in there excitement they didn't realise that Isabel had fallen back down onto the couch still in a state of aw and wonder.

"Alex the stars will shine again and you will have your Swan song! She whispered softy to herself before she closed her eyes and drifted peacfully to sleep.

Chapter Twenty Five

"Isabel are you ok?" Max said after he heard his sister horribel story. "He didn't hurt you.... Isabel did he?" Max said as his eyes grew wide with fear. "No I am ok he didn't hurt me physically my scars are on my heart." She said taking a deep breath. "Isabel I am so sorry." Max said as he hugged his sister tight while Liz rubbed her hair.

"Wow I can't believe him!!! That... that..." Maria said as she clunched her fits as Micheal held her back while she punched a pillow on the couch next to her. "I can't believe this is happening!" She said taking deep breaths "You deserve better Isabel!" Micheal said squeezing Isabels hand.

"I am fine, really I will heal I am strong you guys know that. Besides I have you here to help me.We will get through this" Isabel said as she looked lovenly at her friends.

"We came as soon as Kyle called us. Isabel have you heard from Jessie since he left?' Liz asked distressed. Isabel shook her head. "No nothing. He left for Boston 2 days ago. Thats all I know." She said as she looked down towards the ground as tears filled her eyes as she looked up at Liz.

"But Alex is in Sweden I know he is now more then ever. I found the clue I was searching for last night in the Stargazing book he gave me. See look." She said opening up the book.

"You see it fits. He is there in Sweden. I know it!" She said all excited as she finished reading the page out loud as the rest of the group looked at in with joy.

"Isabel if what you are saying is true then shouldn't we contact the Whitmans to see if they can tell us where in Sweden Alex is and why he is there." Liz asked as she looked into her wide eyes.

"Well thats the thing I can't seem to understand. I went to Alex's house to see his mom and dad but when I knocked no one answered. I tried calling a few times and went back to the house a second time but no one was there. A neighbor told me that after Alex died Chuck and Gloria Whitman just left with out a word and they haven't scene them since." She said puzzled.

"What that makes no sence you can't just vanish like that...Can you?" Kyle said confused. "No Kyle the Skins are not attacking and trying to wipe us out again if thats what you are worried about." Tess said as she squeezed his arm as he smiled at her.

Liz looked at Isabel. "Look all I know is that when I was over Alex's house after he died I saw no indication Mr. Whitman was going to leave. Mr. Whitman would never do a thing like that" Liz said trying to find a logical explanation.

Max looked into her soulful eyes and then turned to the group. "Look Liz is right Mr. Whitman would never do such a thing. I mean when we were on the father camping trip he seemed like a pretty nice practical guy. It makes no sence?" Max said shacking his head as he rubbed Liz's back.

"Look it dosn't make any sense for me either all I know is that there is more to Alex's disaperience then we think." Isabel said concerned. "And I am so scared." She said as tears came to her eyes as she cried softy as Max held her.

Liz looked at Maria and gave her a hug comforting her as Kyle and Tess leaned on each other while Micheal rubbed Maria's back and then kissed her cheek.

Max looked up into his sisters teary eyes. He could see the pain and suffering in her eyes as he wipped her eyes while he held her hand.

He then looked at Liz and got up from the couch and walked towards her and caressed her face with his hands as he felt the fear inside her. He then leaned in and kissed her. It was a kiss of love saying that everything would be ok they would be safe as long as they were together.

They broke form there kiss and Liz leaned her head on his chest as Max looked on to his distressed and frightened friends.

He then looked at his sister sitting there while tears streamed down her cheeks and suddenly he knew in his heart what he had to do. He hestated as his heart pounded against his chest and then took a deep breath.

"We can't wait! We leave for Sweden tomorrow night. If Alex and his family is in danger then we have to save them we owe that to him! Alex was a loyal friend to all of us and now we have to be loyal to him and keep his promise to bring him home!" Max whispered firmly as he held Liz tight as the others looked on in agreement.

Chapter Twenty Six

"Isabel honey wake up" Diana Evans said as she nugged her daughter awake. "What" Isabel said groggy "Where am I?" she said as got up with a jolt and look around to see where she was.

"Isabel you are in your room.Kyle dropped you off this morning.You were still so exhausted so I let you sleep. Kyle told me what happended with you and Jessie.Honey are you ok?" Diana said as she stroaked her back. "I am fine mom really I will get through this whole thing with Jessie but right now I have to find Alex." She said smiling as she squeezed her mothers hand.

"Isabel are you sure you are doing the right thing? I mean how can you be sure Alex is alive?" Diana said as she looked deep into her daughters tired eyes.

"Mom you know sometimes somethings you can't see like the wind. Right? She said looking at her. "Yes" Diana nodded. "Well you can't see the wind but you know it is there.Why becasue you can see the way it blows the leaves in the trees and you can feel it's cool breeze againt your face. I can't see Alex but my heart tells me he is alive" She said smiling.

"Your right I always loved Alex he was such a sweet, caring, and nice boy. I always thought he was a good match for you. You two always had a special connection. I hope you find him." Diana said smiling as she hugged her daughter.

"And so on July 4th, 1947, after all the fireworks had been shot off, after all the apple pie had been eaten, they came. The evidence suggests that they had been studying us for quite some time. To what end we'll never know, but on that fateful night something went terribly wrong, and one, though some say more than one, of the alien crafts crashed onto our planet, starting what was to become one of the most elaborate cover-ups mankind has ever known..."

Milton said as he lead a tour through the UFO center while Max helped file books. He stopped and placed the books down on the desk and walked over to where Brody was sitting amongst high tech computers. "Max how can I help you?" Brody said smiling. "Nothing really just wondering where the book Among Us went?" He said trying to make small talk before he asked his question.

"It's right here." Brody said as he handed it to him. "I was doing some research on the 1959 muders for my computer files." He said as he looked at the computer. "Oh really find anything intersting?" Max said as he looked at the computer. "No nothing unsual." He said as she shugged his sholders.

"Look Brody I was wondering now I know that I already started work but I really have to go to Sweden to visit an old friend of mine. he is in trouble and I have to help him." Max said as he placed his hands behind his back holding to book tightly in order to ease his nervers.

"Well i am ok with it but you will have to ask Milton. I am sure there won't be a problem. You have been such a great help. Hope your friend is ok." Brody said smiling.

"Thanks Brody. I really appreciate it." Max said as he patted him on the back before he caught Milton at the end of his tour.

"Evans. Just the man I wanted to see" Milton said as he walked towards him. "Milton whats up?" Max asked concered. "Well I was wondering if you heard about a new sighting they found in Mexico?" Milton asked as his eyes glowed with excitement. "Max shook his head "No I havn't but I was wondering if I could go to Sweden. Brody said I could go, but I am leaving tonight." He said looking at him as Milton looked puzzled and upset then smiled.

"Boy you are obessed more then I was when I was your age.Of course you can I hear there are some great sightings there you know the Northern Light and all. Bring me back something if you can for the arcives." Milton said as he beamed with excitement. "Oh sure" Max said as he gave him a nod before he left.

"A black hole...that's what's left after a star dies. And that's exactly what happened last week, my friends. The spectacular, stellar, implosion of a red giant, unheard of in the history of astronomy..." Mr. Seligman droned on to his summer school class.

"God how much longer to we have to go through this agony!" Tess sighed annoying as she whispered to Micheal." Wait I thought you were the one who enjoyed school Miss 4.0?" He said glancing at her as he yawned.

"I do but this is insane I didn't sign up for this toucher!" Tess sighed "We just have to wait about a minute more" He said as he glanced up at the clock. A minute to 4 it read as the lechure dragged on. The clock struck 4 as Tess and Micheal looked at each other and smiled.

"The first time a post-main sequence star burning in its prime suddenly..." Mr. Seligman started straching his head hard but he countinued to talk "and without warning..." he then suddenly started scraching his chest as well as his head he appologised and still he pressed on. "violently... exploded.... in a supernova of a hundred million degrees...." by this point the rash he had traveled all over his body and he started to scrach and hop all over until he reached the door as his breathing became stagered before he blurted out in one big gasp "....and disappeared!" he said as he rushed out of the classroom.

In a few minutes Mr. Seligman was back and to his old self or so he thought and started to pick up where he had left off in his lecture. "a process that typically takes many thousands of years. What could have accounted for this...remarkable loss?" He then stopped and looked at the clock and started straching again as Tess closed her eyes. "Oh I am so sorry I didn't realise that today was saturday. I am not feeling the greatest either I have this rash of some sorts. So I will be out for teh rest of the week you can go home now." Mr. Seligman said as he gatherd his papers still strachign as he walked out of the class room.

"Good one. Micheal." Tess said laughing as they made there way outside of the school. " Hey You are dealing with the king when it comes to cutting school. Loved the saturday comment nice touch." He said as he and Tess burst into laughter. " Yeah the good old mindwarp trick works everytime!We better go the others are waiting." Tess said as they hurried to her car.

"I think we got everything. Let me check my list." Liz said as she held up her list checking off the items. Money,cloths,camera,books,flashlight...."
"Flashlight? Liz we are dealing with Aliens here. I don;t think a flashlight is going to help us save Alex." Maria said in shock. "Maria first of all we don't know if we are dealing with Aliens and second It dosn't hurt to be prepaired." She said as she zippered her bag.

"All right but if we are abducted by Czechoslovakians don't come running to me." Maria said as she helped place the bags at the frount of the doorway. "Maria Deluca I ever hear you talk like that again I swear I am sending out a search party and your cousin Sean." She said pointing a fingure at her.

"You know she will too" Sean said shaking his head in agreement as he finished packing Maria's bag.
"You scared me half to death last year when you left the country with Micheal!" Amy Deluca yelled as she crossed her arms in frount of her.

"Mom Micheal and I didn't leave the countryl!" Maria said trying to reason with her mom. "Well what do you think going to Sweden is? I need to sit down this excitement is killing me." Amy said as she sat down on the couch. "Chill mom ok!" Maria said letting out an annoying sigh as she helped Liz carry down Kyles bag.

"Amy the kids will be safe don't worry ok" Jim said trying to resure her as he held her hand. "I know I just worry thats all. I know you will takde care of them. I am just worried about you." She said as she squeezed his hand. "Don't worry I will be fine." He said as he kissed her on the cheek then checked his watch.

"Kyle, Tess Lets go we are going to be late for our flight!" He yelled as the two came running down the stairs. "Reporting for duty sir." Kyle said sluting him as Jim shook his head laughing.

"Liz where is Max and Micheal? Isabel said frantic. "We are going to be late if they don't get here soon." She said annoyed.

"Hi where here." Max said breathless as he and Micheal ran into the house. "Well if it isn't the notorious deo getting into trouble again as usual" Isabel said giving them the eye. "Look we would of been here sooner but Micheal forgot to pack his bag" Max said looking at him. "What I forgot!" Micheal said shugging his sholuders.

"Thats so like you! Aw Alex could of been hurt and there would of been no way for us to get to him because we missed the flight all over you forgettign to pack your bag! I swear Micheal Guerin one of these days..." Maria Yelled but couldn' finish her sentance for Micheal cut her off with a long passionate kiss. "Um well then..."Maria said blinking her eyes "um Liz put his bag by the others." Maria said stiill in shock over the kiss as Micheal smiled.

Liz lifted one of the bags as Max leaned down to pick one of them up. There hands brushed against each other and they looked into each others eyes and smiled realising they both reached for the same bag. Liz let her grip go on the handel as she leaned in and gave him a kiss. He smiled "Here you can take this one. It's mine I trust you with it." Liz said smiling. "Don't worry it's in good hands." He said as he looked into her glowing brown eyes.

"We better go the van to the Air port is here and we better hurry if we want to get the 6:00 flight." Jim yelled as the group said there gooddbyes to Amy and Sean. "You better call the second you get there!" Amy yelled as Maria left the house. "Don't worry we will. We always do."Jim said hugging her goodbye.

"Be safe Parker. Take good care of her Max" Sean said as he gave Liz and Max a hug. "Don't worry I will." Max said as he held Liz's hand giving her a reasuring squeeze before they joined the rest of the group as they piled into the Van and drove off into the desert sunset.

Chapter Twenty Six continued

"All passangers are allowed to unfasen there seatbelts and are now free to roam the cabin until told other wise" The speaker said over the intercom as the flight to Swden flew though the night sky.

Isabel looked up from her book and glaced over to where Maria and Micheal were sitting next to her. Maria was in a deep sleep as she leaned on Micheal shoulder as with arm was wrapped around him as he lsitened to music. He glance every now and then to see how she was while he rubbed her arm as she slepted.

"How is she?" Isabel asked looked at Micheal. "She has been out like a light for hours." he said as he kissed her forehead. "How are you doing?" Micheal asked concerened. "I am fine thanks. I am going to see how the others are doing. I'll be back later." Isabel smiled as she nugged her way out of the seats heading over to where Tess,Kyle, and Jim sat.

Max and Liz were futhers down the aisle. Liz looked up and smiled seeing Isabel walking around. She then nugged Max "Hey I see Isabel is awake. I am going to see how she is. I'll be right back." She said as she kissed him before getting out of her seat.

No sooner had Liz left then Kyle plobed down into Liz's seat next to Max. "Evans how are you." Kyle said all excited. Max looked up at him not knowing why he was so happy. "Hey Kyle" he said as he looked down at his book.

Kyle then glanced back to the back of the plane and then back at Max. "So I take it that you and Liz will soon be members of the Mile High club?" he said claping his hands together and smiling. Max looked up at him in shock "Kyle!" he shouted. " what...No thats discusting. I would never." he said still in shock over the comment.

"Oh come on Max think about it, it's dark,close quaters, I hear the sex is great at least thats what Jugs saids." Kyle said glancing to the back and then to Max again trying to make his point. "Kyle I said the answer is no." Max said as he saw Liz coming back in the nick of time.

"Hey Kyle." Liz said as she saw him in her seat. "Oh yeah Liz I was just leaving. Think about it Max." he said as he patted him on the back before he left.

Liz sat down in her seat. "What was that all about?" She asked. "Nothing for get it." Max said shacking his head. "So do you want to read your book to you." he said glancing down at Liz's book. "Sure it's one of my favorits Romeo and Juliet." She said handing him the book as she curled up next to him. "Aw a classic.What part were you up to?" He said as he opened up the book.

"The balcony scene." She said all excited. "Really hey how about you read Juliets part and I read Romeos" Max said grinning. "Sure, but we have to be quite not to disturbe people sleeping." She whispered as she kiss him. "Ok my fair Juliet" Max whispered in her ear. "But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun." Max whispered and then passionately kissed her.

"Max" She smiled. "I don't think it's written in the play that we kiss here?" She sighed giving him a begiling look as she batted her eyes. "I know but this is my version of Romeo and Juliet." He said as he kissed her again. "I think I like your version better." She sighed as she kissed him back before they continued reading.

Kyle made his way back down to his seat seeing Tess next to him. "So Tess do you want to be a member of the Mile High club.' he said all excited. "Don't even think about it" Tess yelled as she pointed at him. "But Tess." Kyle beged. "I say no! Down Budddah Boy!" She said as she went back to reading her book as Kyle sighed. "Quite you two. I am trying to sleep." Jim yelled as he closed his tired eyes. Kyle and Tess looked at each other and smiled.

In a few minutes Liz and Max were fast asleep there heads touching as Isabel looked over and smiled seeig how cute they looked together. She yawned and then glanced out the window seeing the dark night sky.

She sighed knowing once they landed she would have no way of finding where Alex was but hoped he would come to her in her dreams. "Alex give me a sign." She whispered as she leaned back and in a few minutes was fast asleep.

Chapter Twenty Seven

The plane flew deeper into the night while Isabel slepted soundly letting her dreams take over her.

She found herself in a very fimilar yet forgotten place as she sat on the window seat looking out the window as a cool breeze swepted across her face.She then turned hearing the fimilar tune of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppland being played on a guitar.

"Theres a lady who's sure all that gliter is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed"

She looked seeing first the oak guitar by her knees as she sat crossed legged and then she she looked up as a smile creppted across her face at the sight she saw.

"With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
Theres a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings"

"Alex! Oh God Alex you are here!" She said as she embrassed him. She then turned and looked at the room she was sitting in. It was Alex's room "Alex why are we here?' She said looking at her surroundings. "Oh this is not real we are not here your in Sweden not in Roswell New Mexico? This is all a dream just a bad dream!" she said shacking her head.

"In a tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgivin

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west

"Isabel look at me.This is not a dream. We are here. I brought you here so you would't forget and remember." Alex said in a soothing tone. Isabel took hold of his hand remembering the night she had come to ask him to the prom. "Of course I remember. But Alex how why? There are so many questions I want to ask you?" She said taking a deep breath.

"Shh there will be plenty of time for that later but right now I just want you to talk and tell me whats on your mind. I told you once that I would take care of you no matter what. Trust me Isabel let me in." He said squeezing her hand.

"In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees

Tears filled her eyes and she wepted onto his shoulder as she rubbed her back. "Oh God Alex it's been awful. God everyone I touch gets hurt. It was just like they said that I was a betrayer in my past life and now here I am betraying the people I love again. I should of told Jessie the truth from the begginning but I was too scared?... Why?.... Why hadn't I....

God I even married him for what to be entered into another world of secrets and lies. God I wish things could be normal.... why do I... have to be the hidious creature that I am!" She sopped

"If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now
It's just a sprinkling for the May queen

"Isabel look at me" Alex whispered as he held her chin in his hand. "You are not a monster you are beautiful inside and out and I wouldn't have it anyother way." He softy whispered as he pulled her in for a long passioante kiss. They engulfed eachother with the love that was so deeply burning in there hearts as there passion grew.

"Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow
And did you know your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadow taller than our soul"

"Alex" Isbel said softy as she broke from his kiss. "Thank you. I love you." She said as a new set of tears filled her eyes. "When will I see you again? How will I find you?" She said as she held on to him tight.

"There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold"

"Don't worry Isabel you will find away. Come here." Alex said as Isabel currled up against him while he strunned his guitar. "I love you Isabel now get some sleep." He said as he kissed her forehead. Soon she was lulled off to sleep by the sound of Alex's playing while he held her close in the moonlight of his room.

"The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll. "

"I'll see you soon" he whispered into her ear. "Alex" Isabel murmered in her sleep. he then leaned down and gave her one last kiss before he disappeared while the tune of the music played as she sleeped in the empty room.

"And she's buying a stairway to heaven"

Chapter Twenty Seven continued

"Alex" Isabel murmered in her sleep and then she opened and blinked her eyes as she felt the plan rattling underneath her. "Isabel we are landing." Maria said as she nugged her to wake up.

The plane landed smoothly as the eight of them started to decend from the plane. "Sweden here we come!" Maria shouted as she grabbed her luggage from the check out turmal and joined the others as a limo came to pick them up. "You got a limo?" Max said surprised as he looked at Maria.

"Hey I figured if we are here in Sweden we might as well enjoy it as best we can." She said smiling as Micheal shrugged his shoulders "hey I had nothing to do with this Maxwell. It's all Maria." He said as they climbed into the limo.

The limo arrived at the hotel and made it's way to the grand enterance as the bell hops helped them carry there bags. "Reservation under Deluca" Maria told the frount desk. "Yes Deluca your all set." the receptionast behind the desk said as she checked the computer. "Your room is on the sixth floor here are your keys." The receptionast said as she handed her the keys.

"This way guys" Kyle yelled as he hurried to catch up with Maria as she got into the elavator. "Wow they have a pool and a night club!" Tess beamed as she read the hotel booklet while they rose futher and futher until they reached the sixth floor.

"Look they have a spa as well!" Tess said as she showed Isabel the booklet as they walked down the long hall. "Aw I am so in the mood for a massage! We are so going after I get settled in." Isabel said as she dragged her lugage behind her.

They finally made it to the room and opened the door, The room was huge complete with a living room area with a table and chairs, a huge king size bed and french doors that opened up to a balcony that over looked the snow covered mountains.

"Wow this is so beautiful" Liz gasped as she entered the elaborate room. "Maria this is too much." Max said as he looked around. "How did you afford it?" Max asked as he looked at her with a suspecious look. "Thats my little secret." She said as she looked at Micheal who smiled knowing he had used his sisters Laurie's money to pay for it.

"Well I will see you guys later." Isabel said as her Kyle and Tess started to leave. "What Where are you guys going?" Liz asked with a questioned look. "To our room." Maria said. "Surprise" Isabel said "Look we know you guys didn't have a honeymoon so we booked the honeymoon sweet for you guys as our present to you." Maria said smiling as she looked at Max and Liz's jaws drop.

"You what!" Max said in shock. "This is your room for the week we pooled our money together so you guys could have your own room. Happy Honeymoon." Jim said as he left. "Come on Isabel our massage waits." Tess yelled as Isabel followed her."See you tow love birds later" Kyle said grinning as he raced after them.

"Have fun kids." Micheal said as he slapped Max on his shoulder before he left with Maria. He then turned "Oh yeah and I requested they put some Chaka Khan in the CD player. It's all ready to go you just have to push play" Micheal yelled as Maria started pushing him. ""Were leaving." Maria said as she pushed him out the door and into the hallway. You guys can thank us later.Have fun." She said as she closed the door while Max and Liz staired in shock at the news they just heard.

"Wow that was a surprise." Max said as he blinked and placed his bag down next to the closet. "Yeah your telling me." Liz said as she put her bag next to his. "I can't believe them. This is insane!" Liz said smiling.

They both looked at each other in the eye and then started running around the room shouting to each other as to all of the cool stuff they found in the room."No way! They have a hot tub and everything complete with bathrobs and cool soaps" Liz shouted from the bathroom. "They got like 50 channels on the TV and they have a minie bar complete with champain and cholate covered strawberries." Max yelled to her from across the room. "Liz you got to check out this view." He said as Liz made her way onto the balcony.

"Wow this is so beautiful! Oh my god this view is gorgeious!" She cried as Max held her in his arms. "Wow I can't believe we are finally going to have a honeymoon!" He said as he kissed her cheek. "I know this is so exciting we are really here in Sweden the two of us in another country I never thought I would of see the day." Liz said as they walked hand in hand back into the room and sat on the bed.

"I mean we always talked about it but we never had the chance things were so...." "Confusing" Max said as he finished Liz sentance as she smiled. "Yeah confusing is a good word for it. It's all to real we are finally living our dreams of going off to new and exciting placs together!" She said as she looked deep into his eyes and smiled.

"This is what Alex always wanted for me for us and now that we are here I feel we are closer to finding him more then ever." Liz said as she grinned."That was Alex for you,always looking out for his friends and always trying to bring out the best in them." Max said smiling.

"Should we go and join the others?" Max asked looking at Liz's glowing face. "Not yet. I am so tired from this jet lag." She said as she leaned down onto the bed as max followed her. "OK. I am really tired myself." He said yawning. "Besides we will need our strength for tonight." he whispered as Liz laughed.

"Max can you hold me until I fall sleep." She whispered. "Of course I could hold you forever if you asked me to." He said softy as he kissed her. Liz sighed and then closed her eyes as Max whispered softy "Sleep dwell upon thine eyes,peace in thy breast! Would I were sleep and peace, so sweet to rest" Max closed his eyes as he held on to her and soon the both of them were in a peaceful sleep.

Chapter Twenty Eight

Soon the golden sun was starting to set across the snow covered mountains as Maria and Micheal sat pool side sipping marguateris as they watched the beautiful sight in frount of them through the glass canopy windows.

"Aw this is the life." Micheal sighed as he took a sip from his glass. "Your telling me. I definally could get used to this." Maria nodded as she and Michela held hands as they watched the sun set. "Micheal do you think we will find him...I mean Alex? I feel he is close but I am not sure." Maria said as her mind wondered.

"Look Maria here is what I think. He has to be out there I mean look at Max,Isabel and I. We were lost when we first came out of the pods. But the Evans were lucky enough to find Max and Isabel. In the beginning though thats all they had was each other, while me on the other hand had no one. I eventually found them but I never felt at home like they did. I always thought there was something more out there that I had to discover.

Same way with Alex he is on a journey to find his home and some day he will find it in us." Micheal said as he looked into Maria's eyes. She looked at him for a few minutes and then staired out at the crimson sky.

"So you said that you felt there was something more out there to be discovered. Did you ever find what you were looking for... did you ever find your home Micheal?" Maria asked as she turned and looked at him.

"I did. My home was you." He said as he squeezed her hand and smiled as Maria beamed and then got up off her chair and passinatly kissed him. "I love you Micheal." She whispered "I love you." He said softy.

They then started kissing intensly as they removed there bathrobs revealing there bathing suits as they moved around the pool side however they lost there footing and feel in. "Oh my god. I am soaked!" Maria said as Micheal laughed and splashed her. "Stop it!..Cut it out Micheal!" She cried as she tried to defend herself by fighting back with each splash she threw at him.

"I swear wait until tonight you are so dead" She yelled."Is that a threat?" Micheal laughed."Don't push me Space Boy!" Maria yelled as Micheal came closer to her and kissed her hard they broke away form each other and then Maria threw him under water as she turned and swam away.

Micheal amerged from the pool trying to catch is breath as he saw to see two fimilar faces stairing at him. " Wow You guys were at it for a while." Micheal said grinning as Max shook his head.

"Looks like you two were at it as well." Max said as he used Micheal's words against him and smiled as Micheal gave him the eye.

"Aw thank god you are here I am soaked all becasue of spaceboy here!" Maria cried as she got out of the pool. "Hey you were the one who kissed me first." Micheal said coming to his defense.

Liz laughed. "Sure Maria it was all Micheal fault but how come both of you and Micheal are soaked?" She said laughing as Maria groaned and picked up her things ingorning her friends question and gave a death look to Micheal before she started to smile at him as he looked at her and laughed.

"Liz did you get my message dinner is at 8 here at the hotel resturant." Maria said as Micheal got out of the pool. "I figured we all can eat at the hotel tongiht then go some where else tomorrow." She said as she handed Micheal a towel.

"Sounds great Maria. Where are the others?" Liz asked as she and Max walked with them back to there room. "Oh they are off getting massages I think? Kyle might be snowboarding not sure?" She said as they walked into there room.

"Well we will see you guys down at the lobby." Max said as he waved goodbye to them and closed the door. "We should probaby get ready it's already seven." Liz said checking her watch. "Good idea." Max said as they walked hand in hand back to the room.

Isabel sat in the lobby by the brightly lit fireplace as the golden flams engulfed the room making it glow with it's amber light as Isabel sat curled up in a big chair reading her book. The warm heat felt good on her body and she was enjoying the new comfortable surroundings. "Life could get much better then this" She said to herself.

However she was wrong as she heard a voice from behind her calling her name. "Isabel" the voice whispered she then turned as felt her heart drop as she looked up and whispered "Jessie?"

Chapter Twenty Eight Continued

"Jessie" Isabel said i shock as she got up in a hurry from the chair. "What are you doing here?" She said as her hands trembled with fear. "I went back to Boston and I was sent to Sweden for a case and to meet up with a client I am represcenting.

I knew you would be here in Sweden so I called your mom and asked her where you would be staying andshe told me the name of the hotel. So checked in hoping to see you again." Jessie said as he walked closer to her. "Isabel I am so sorry" He said as he leaned in Isabel backed away.

"Look Jessie I don't understand why? After all you said to me why would you even think of coming to see me a person or rather thing you don't even know." She said her voice getting louder as her heart raced.

Jessie looked at her and took her hand. "Isabel I am so sorry for pressuring you into marrying me. For me not learning about you and your past life for not getting to know the beautiful creature you are." He whispered as he looked her in the eye.

"Sure you say that now that I am not around typical guy always trying to get what he wants after the thing he wants leaves for good." She laughed and shook her head as she pulled her hand away. "No I am not going to take it any more. There is someone out there who loves me for me and the beautful person I am. It's only taken me now to realise how wonderful I really am. Good bye Jessie." Isabel said as she started to walk away.

Jessie ran up to catch her as her pace quicken with each step. "Isabel look I know this is really weird but I am so sorry. If it make you feel any better I got our marrage annoled." He yelled

Isabe stopped dead in her tracks and wirld around. "You what?" She said in shock. "You are no longer Mrs.Ramirez Isabel Evans" He said looking at her in the eye. "But why? Why would you do that for me?" She said trying figure out his reason.

"Look I did a lot of thinking these past few weeks and I did it because I love you and I want you to be happy with Alex. He is who the one you should be with not me. It was written in the stars you two should be together. I really hope you find him." He said smiling as Isabels eyes filld with tears as she hugged him. "Thank you" She whispered.

"Take good care of yourself Isabel I will see you around." He said as he squeeze her tight before leaving. "You too." Isabel said as she squeeze his hand. "Wow will you look at the time. I to get going don't want to keep Mr. and Mrs. Olson waiting" he said as he started leaving. Isabel watched him leave and then cried out running after him.

"Wait did you say Olson? Do they live in Uppsala and have a daughter named Leanna?" She asked. "Yes why?" Jessie said as he turned around giving her a questioning look. "I think you can help me. Isabel whispered as her eyes grew wide with excitement.

Chapter Twenty Nine

There was a knock on the large wooden green door as three figures came into sight on the door step as the door opened wide.

"Hi Mr. and Mrs. Olson. I am your lawer Jessie Ramirez." He said shacking their hands. "This is Isabel Evans and Liz Parker my um..." He hestated. "His assistents as well as friends of Alex Whitman." Isabel said as she shook Mr. and Mrs. Olsons hands smiling as she looked at Jessie.

"Oh please come in make yourselves at home." Mrs. Olson said as she ushered them inside.

The three sat on a huge couch while they looked through photo alblums and sipped tea while Mr and Mrs. Olson sat in arm chairs next to them.
"So you say that the last time you saw Leanna was before Alex left Sweden?" Jessie said as he flipped through family photos of Johan, Gustav, Rebecka, Mattias, and little Kiki.

"Yes she left for the states a few weeks later to study at the University of Las Cruces . Only problem was that we haven't heard from her since then.We called the poliece but they are no help and stopped searching a while ago." Mr. Olson said as she looked Jessie square in the eye.


"The problem is that West Roswell High wants to file a law suit against us for mistreatment to Alex Whitman while he was staying here which later caused him to kill himself. I don't understand. I mean Alex was the sweetest person a little dramatic at times but over all a very nice guy." Mr. Olson said as he sighed looking at the three troubled faces.

"Um Mr. and Mrs Olson I remember Alex mentioning something about how Leanna and him dated for a while were you aware of that?" Liz asked as she spotted a picture of the two of them hugging each other by a snow covered mountain top.

"Yes they didn't date for long to be honest with you I think it was more of a close friendship nothing more. They were cute togethe but the distance and everything plus they weren't right for each other but as far as friends went they were great.

Alex always talked about you Isabel. It's great to finally meet you it feels like I have known you for years. And Liz wow you are really lucky to have such a friend as Alex." Mr. Olson said as Liz and Isabel smiled.

"So you don't know where she was staying in New Mexico I mean there must be an address for the university, phone number or something?" Jessie said trying to piece the facts together. "Nothing she was going to come home some time in April but she never did. And then thats when we heard about Alex's death." Mr. Olson said shacking his head as he fought back tears and then took a deep breath to compose himself.

"That might be becasue her name was Jennifer Coleman in the states. I did some research into Alex's death as well and thats what I found her roomate said she went home some time in May saying her mom was sick in the hospital. So I guess she is here Sweden. I know it dosn't make sense. However I can assure you that your daughter did not kill Alex. We will find her." Liz said taking hold of Mrs. Olson hand as she nodded her head as tears filled her eyes

Liz looked at the two people sitting in the living room and images of Alex's slideshow flooded her mind. She then flipped though the alblum until something caught her eye. It was a tall building with windows and Alex and Leanna were hugging each other while the huge structre lay in the back ground.

"Um Mr. Olson are you fimilar with this building at all?" Liz said pointing to the photo. He shook his head. "Aw yes I have sceen that buliding before Leanna used to work there during her summers doing some kind of goverment research I think she didn't say what exactually. Why?" he asked looking at her concerned.

"You see when Alex died I wanted to see if what the accident report said was true and that they weren't hidding anything. Turns out when I called the Swedish Embasy a Mr. Stockman said that the building had been tore down in 1994 and that three people in his office confirmed it. So I thought that Alex never went to Sweden being the building was not the real one." Liz said looking Mr. Olson in the eye.

"Well then I suggest Mr. Stockman and the Swedish Embassy update there record books because the building still exhists." He said as Liz felt her heart jump with excitement.

"I think you have yourself a solid case. If West Roswell High clams that Alex did go to Sweden and the Swedish Embassy saids that his pictures are fake and that he didn't go when in fact they are real then I don't see how West Roswell High can make a clam for mistreatment on you when it looks like your goverment is the one who mistreated not only Alex but you and your daughter as well.

They are covering something up and it is my job to get to the bottom of it and eventually find your daughter as well as Alex Whitman." Jessie beamed as he closed his brief case shut and shook Mr. and Mrs. Olsons hands. "Looks like we are going to court." Jessie said as Mr. and Mrs. Olson smiled as tears filled there eyes.

"Don't worry we will find them. I promise. " Isabel said as she hugged them good bye. "Take care." Mr. and Mrs. Olson said as they hugged both her and Liz good bye.

"If you don't mind can you tell me where the building is? I would love to see it." Liz said as her Nancy Drew skills started to come into effect again. "It's located in Stockholm just north of here. The town is pretty close. You can't miss it." Mr. and Mrs. Olsen said "Thank you for everything."Liz said beaming as she hugged them goodbye and joined Isabel and Jessie outside.

"A clue" Liz whispered as she sank into the back seat of the car. " I knew it Jessie this proves it. Alex is really alive!!" Isabel said beaming as she hugged him. "Thank you!" She whispered. "Thank you for making me believe." Jessie whispered as he looked her in the eye before he turned and started the car.

"The woods are lovely dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep" Isabel whispered to herself. "Don't worry Alex the journey might be long but we will bring you home." She said softy to herself as she looked up towards the starry sky.
