"Isabel?" I repeat. I can hardly believe my ears. What does Isabel have to do with anything? "You and I talked last night about how you liked Liz. I was talking you up for her. Telling her you were a good guy and then you freaked over Maria, and now you like Isabel?"
I don't understand this guy at all. Can't he make up his mind? How's anyone to know who he's going to blow up about next?

"Liz"? I repeat confused. "I was talking about Isabel - I thought you were too! I like Liz like a sister, nothing else." I give a little laugh. "After all, she likes ..." I trail off, realizing what I said. God knows how mad Liz would be if I tell Max about her crush.
"Well, I don't like Liz that way and I was NOT talking about her yesterday. I thought we were talking about Isabel." I say, slowly realizing what went wrong. "You thought we were talking about Liz weren't you?"

"Of course," I say, feeling annoyed. How could he be confused on that. I must have mentioned her by name. Didn't I? ... Well, maybe I didn't. I'm not sure. He thought I were talking about Isabel? But what about him going off with Liz and her giving him a rose and everything? She likes someone-else?
What was that Alex was about to say? Liz likes who? Kyle, no doubt. If she's not interested in Alex, it has to be Kyle. She told me she thought he was nice and they have spent a lot of time together. Last night probably cinched it for him. Liz and Kyle. Lucky guy.
But Alex has liked Isabel this whole time. "But you like Isabel," I say as it all starts to sink in.
"So what was the deal with Maria, then? She was too hungover to drive and I'd finally talked her into handing over the keys and you had to go all Rambo on my face," I say, trying to understand.

"Yeah." I agree embarrassed, looking down at my coffee, "I had a bit hangover too, like I mentioned and well, before you stopped Maria from driving, you were helping Isabel to have her date with Jakey-boy, so I was a bit confused and well, pissed since we talked the night before about who we like." I chuckle a bit. "Or we thought we talked about that."
"Not to forget that for the first time since high school, I was really annoyed that another guy got all the female attention ... especially from Isabel. Considering how they were throwing themselves at you for a while, I felt a bit of pity for you too. Well, I guess you getting along with all the girls while Isabel was ignoring me, got on my nerves and for some reason, my neandertal instincts took over - for the first and hopefully last time in my life."
Sighing, I look up at Max again, "No matter what I say, my actions can't be excused so I totally understand if you don't wanna talk to me or anything. Or you can hit me in return if you want, even though I fear you'll do more damage than I did."

Heeheehee. I was just reading over some of the early Max/Alex interaction. So much fun! lol.

I nod at Alex's explaination. I certainly do remember his hangover. I brought him the JD to try and help him out. Not to mention a lot of coffee. That was before our conversation at the pool about Liz - or about Isabel? I don't know what any of that meant any more.
He was jealous of me? Because of all the girls? Well, all the girls except Liz. I guess I understand that, but it was no picnic. He had it right when he said he felt sorry for me, too. Thank goodness most of them have backed down a bit now. Especially since I let them know I was going out with Tess last night.
But he's not interested in Maria, either. Half the reason I chose to go out with Tess was because of Alex, but I also thought Tess was a really fun person. I still do. It might just really work out.
"I'm not going to hit you, Alex," I tell him. "Seems like we were both pretty confused. What do you say we start over?" I extend my hand to him. "I may even re-concider my plans to try to swap room-mates."

I'm enjoying a beautiful day at the beach with Candy, surfing, playing and getting friendly. Such a great day. But suddenly everything is ruined by the crashing sounds of a demolition crew right next to the beach. The banging comes constantly and just won't stop. I turn to shake my fist and get tangled in my covers, waking up in my bed, alone.
The sun is too bright and the noise keeps on. Why couldn't that have disappeared with my dream? It's Kyle, tramping around like a gang of monkeys. "Quiet!" I hiss at him.
"Oh, you're up," he says with a cheerfulness that makes me want to strangle him.
"How can I help it with you making all that racket?" I grumble.
"I've been quiet as a mouse," he insists. "But it really is time to be up."
I groan and pull my pillow over my head. I'm not getting up yet. Not yet.

"I'm not going to hit you, Alex, seemslike we were both pretty confused. What do you say we start over?"
He extends his hand to me. "I may even re-concider my plans to try to swap room-mates."
Swapping room mates? wow! That's drastic, not that I can't understand him. Smiling nervously, I take the
offered hand, "Thanks. And if you still want to swap room-mates, I'll leave the room, since you already
unpacked and all."
"Sooo," I say after a moment of silence. "You want another cup of coffee or should we wake up the
others?" I glance at my watch - 7:30, "We have to be at work in about an hour, after all."
Looking at his watch, Max nods, "Might be best to wake them - the girls will take up a lot of time in the
bathroom after all." he says with a grin.
Chuckling myself, I place my cup into the sink. "You go wake the girls since you seem quite popular with
them." Hearing him sigh, I add, "Come on, you have to admit that you enjoyed it at least a tiny bit - if only
for a short time."
"Lets not talk about that anymore, please!" Max says with a sigh.
"Okay okay." I held my hands up in surrender. "Anyway, you wake the girls, since Isabel told me last night
to stay away from her and you get along well with Tess. I go to the guys and try to wake them up."

Just some boring exposition from Liz and Isabel's room.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ Liz ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

I roll over and blink away the sleep from my eyes. As my vision clears I am reminded once more of where I am. Raising my arms above my head, my hands lightly hit the headboard, and I yawn while I stretch.
I smile as the warm sunlight streams into the room. I look over to Isabel’s bed and see that she’s still sleeping. Knowing that she got in later that I, and that she had probably gotten less sleep than me, since I did fall asleep during the movie, I decide to let her sleep a while longer.
Padding over to the bathroom, I slowly close the door until a quiet click permeates through the room. I brush my teeth and take a shower, pulling down a towel from the stack in the room. As I dry off, I realize that we should probably do a load of laundry, towels at least, after work today.
I get back in the room and pick out some clothes to wear. I finish getting dressed before going to Isabel’s bedside, choosing to wake her before I get started on makeup and hair. I may spend less time on those than Isabel, and that is all the more reason to wake her. Gently I touch her shoulder.
“Isabel,” I say quietly. “Isabel, it’s time to get up.”

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ End Liz ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Just a little note. I think that when Max comes to wake the girls up, Isabel would be working on her makeup, and Liz possibly making her bed? Just because in the "timeline" in my head, Liz was waking Isabel up when the guys were having their chat over coffee.

I'm relieved when Alex takes my hand, ready to start over. He says, "Thanks. And if you still want to swap room-mates, I'll leave the room, since you already unpacked and all."
"Nahh. That's okay," I tell him, smiling. "I'm willing to risk it a bit longer."
After a bit, Alex suggests that we go wake up the rest of the household. It does seem to be time to make sure they're all moving, so I agree.
Alex suggests, "You wake the girls, since Isabel told me last night to stay away from her and you get along well with Tess. I go to the guys and try to wake them up."
I nod and head up the stairs with him. I'm thinking that if Isabel doesn't want Alex anywhere near him, it's gonna be mighty hard for him to be with him the way he wants. Although I guess that's not a lot different than me liking Liz knowing that she's not interested in me.
At the top of the stair, it occurs to me that he managed to get the easy part of the job. He's only got two guys to rouse. I've got all four girls. Oh well. He turns to the left to get Michael and Kyle while I stop at the first door on the right. Liz and Isabel.
I knock on the door and call out softly, "Liz. Isabel. Are you ladies awake?"

Man, I'm damn happy that Max is such a great guy and isn't holding a grudge agains me ... I could understand him if he did though. But he isn't so, I won't worry about that.
Hm, why did he think I was talking about Liz? Okay, I maybe have never said Isabel's
name but why did he automatically think of Liz? I have to ask him that later ... AND I have to talk to Maria about Liz's birthday ... so many things to do so early - I hope I don't forget anything.
Arriving at the door of the other guys, I knock onto it. "GUys? You already up?"
No one's answering but I think I heard something. Should I walk in or not? Hell, I doubt I catch them naked and even if I did, I've seen a naked guy (well, me) before, so I won't get a shock when I call them sans clothes.
Opening the door I step in to see Kyle already walking around the room with a smile on his face (morning person, I guess) and Michael still in bed (not a morning person).
"Morning!" I greet Kyle loudly with a wink towards Michael.
"A happy morning to you too, Alex!" Kyle greets back just as loudly, grinning when we hear
a groan and muffled curses from under the covers.
"We could pull the covers away." I suggest after a moment.
"No, a glass of could water is better." Kyle answers seriously. "I'll go get one." Before
he made one step towards the door, the covers are pulled away and Michael slowly sits up with an unhappy look on his face.
"Morning sunshine!" I say again. Damn, I'm in a great mood since the talk with Max went so well ... besides, it's kinda fun to annoy Michael so early in the morning.

“Liz. Isabel. Are you ladies awake?” I hear a voice from the other side of the door say before lightly tapping against it. I toss the pillow that was currently in my hands back down to the bed before walking to the door to open it.
I come face to face with Max, who looks the slightest bit surprised.
“Hi, Max,” I say smiling. “Good morning. Isabel is finishing getting ready. I’m just making my bed.”
“Morning,” he greets, while the surprise on his face washes away. It's quiet for a time, and he shifts his weight slightly, standing in the doorway. “Alex made some coffee,” he says. “Downstairs. If you want some.” I can’t stop the smile at his slightly stilted speech.
“Thanks,” I reply, smile still there. “I’ll go get some.” I turn to the bathroom before saying, “Isabel, did you want some coffee? I’m heading downstairs to get some. Did you want a cup?”
