~LIZ~

I finally decide that leaving isn't such a bad thing to do after all. I'm sure I'll get the phone call or visit from Isabel tomorrow demanding that I turn over my coupons and then go with her to Victoria's Secret. I just don't understand what I did wrong with that guy. It really bugs me because I don't usually lose bets or dares. Ok, once in a while I do but that was really fast. I glance upstairs and see that Isabel isn't up there anymore. Well, at least I can grab my purse. I make my way up there and see Maria and Alex standing. "You guys leaving so soon?" I ask, moving one of the cushions of the couch that I stashed my purse behind. "Where's Isabel?"

*MARIA*

I take Alex's arm just as Liz comes back. Wow. She must already have the guy waiting to take her home, that's like a record even for her, but I'm not sure that sleeping with the guy within two hours of meeting him will make him think of her in long term ways. I shake my head. "No, we're not leaving yet. Alex and I were just heading for the dancefloor. Isabel went home, though. I think she had too much excitement for one night." I wink and grin at Alex.

~LIZ~

Oh my god! Could things get any luckier for me? Isabel has gone home! She doesn't know that I failed. Now what though? It's not like I can call the guy, I don't even know his last name. I sigh and glance around before spotting him downstairs...talking to Kyle. This has got to be my lucky night. He knows Kyle? Or maybe they just met. Anyway, I have one little ray of light of hope. I can call Kyle and find out if he knows him and get his number that way. I'll just invite him, casually of course, to my party on Friday and I'll try again.

Nodding slightly at the plan I have, I turn to Maria and Alex. "Ok, have fun you two!" Then I smile down at Michael. "Don't forget to call about that cooking thing. I really would like to be in on it."

~KYLE~

I grin at Tess as I notice her staring at my nachoes. "Tess, help yourself to the nachoes. There's plenty here to share," I tell her, pushing the plate closer to her. At that moment, Max walks up and asks to speak with me. Why is it when I find a girl I'm really interested in, I keep getting pulled away from her?!

"Sure, Max," I tell him through gritted teeth. I smile at Tess. "I'll be right back."

I walk off to the side with Max and fold my arms across my chest. "Ok, what's up?" I ask.

ALEX

I blush slightly when Maria talks about Isabel having too much excitement for the night. Good thing that the light is so poor in here that the others don't notice.

"Hey wait Liz!" I cry when Liz is about to leave. Giving Maria and apologetic smile (again) I turn to Liz, "What happened with the guy?"

As soon as we're aside I quickly ask, "Kyle...are you friends with Liz...uh..you know the brunnette you were dancing with before? Are you friends? Its just...well..." I swallow and say slightly quieter. "Is she in it for the long haul?" I ask worriedly. "Cos I can't tell if shes happy with just... well in it for the fun?" I say lamely.

I then add, "Plus if you help me out I might forgive you for pushing Alex into talking to my sister" I say with a slight glare. "Please?"

~LIZ~

I become completely still as Alex asks what happened with Max. I bite my lower lip and tell myself that it's not over yet. I flash him a grin and say, "Ladies' don't kiss and tell, Alex." There! I didn't lie but I didn't exactly have to come out and say I failed either. "I'll see you guys later." I give them a little wave and start to make my way through the crowds downstairs.

*MARIA*

Uh oh. Liz is biting her lip like she is trying to debate whether to lie or not. She always bites her lip when she's trying to decide something...when she's fighting her conscience. I watch her carefully and when she answers vaguely, I barely stop a sigh from escaping my lips. She's covering the fact that she bombed. She didn't get the guy hooked for the long term at least. Before we can ask her anything else, she's bolted for the stairs and I glare after her. This isn't over yet, sweetie. I smile at Alex and shrug. "Oh well. Wanna dance now?"

~KYLE~

I laugh at Max's question, totally ignoring the part about his sister. "Liz Parker?" I laugh so hard, I nearly double over. "In it for the long haul? You're kidding right? If there is one person that you can count on to be in a fling simply for the fun and not a relationship, it's Liz. She's got the uncanny ability to make you feel like the only person in the whole world, for the night or for the week, maybe 2 but that's it. It's a blast while it's happening, though. If I were you, man, I would take it for as long as it lasts. I know you usually go for the one nighters but you really don't have to worry about the long term stuff with Liz. She'll dump you so fast your head'll swim when it's all over."

A thought occurs to me that he might ask how she is in bed but I refuse to let him get to that. I don't even want to go there with one of my best friends. "Listen, I really want to get back to...my nachoes. I'm starving man. I'll see ya later. Ok?"

ALEX

I look after Liz's retreating form, unsure of what to make of her reply when I hear Maria's "Oh well. Wanna dance now?"

Giving her a smile, I nod. "Of course, Mi'Lady. Lets show them how it's done."

With that, I lead her down the stairs, wondering if I just saw Max and Kyle talking or if it was someone else. Hard to tell with the light here.

A grin spreads out on my face. She's a playgirl? Oh yes....this couldn't be better. How come I didn't pick up on it if Kyle seems to think its that obvious? Oh well...I don't care. I'm gonna bags me a hottie!
I beam at Kyle. "Yeah man....thanks" I say slapping him on the back before disappearing into the crowd. I have to find Liz now. Before some other lucky dog finds her.

Quickly I make my way onto the dance floor to see if I can see her from here. For a while I think she might have left...when suddenly I spot her walking down the steps. Quickly I dash over to her. "Liz!" I call out. I smile at her as I catch up with her. "Hey... so are you available for another dance?"

*MARIA*

I giggle a little at Alex's words. He's kinda cute. I can see why Isabel would like him. I give Michael a smirk, for some bizarre reason that I'm not even completely sure of and walk with Alex towards the stairs. I see the dark haired target run up to Liz and she looks a little surprised. Well, I guess I was wrong. I guess she did snag him. Shrugging mentally I smile up at Alex as we start down the stairs.

~LIZ~

Max runs up to me and says, "Hey... so are you available for another dance?"

I kind of step back, a little taken aback by this change in his behavior yet again. I tilt my head to the side and toss my long hair behind my shoulder. "Um, you know I could have sworn that a few minutes ago you had decided I wasn't your type or something. Now you want another dance?" I ask curiously, wondering what he'll say to that. Not that I'm unhappy with this change, of course but I've got to wonder what happened.

Oh oh...think fast...
"I went to go and talk to a friend... and I most definitely did not decide you weren't my type. How could a beautiful girl like you not be my type" I say with what I hope was a charming smile.
Then I decide to play a different tactic. "But ok, if your busy then..." I say starting to turn away.

~LIZ~

He starts to walk away and I reach out and put a hand on his arm. "No!" He turns around and I feel a heat radiating from where my hand is on his arm. I snatch it back quickly, using it to tuck my hair on one side behind my ear. "I mean...I didn't say I was busy." I glance down at my purse in my other hand and hold it up to him. "I was actually kinda tired though. It's been a long day. I was just heading home." I quickly come to a decision and change my mind, however. "But maybe I have the energy for one last dance."

I smile at her. Oh I KNEW that would work. Kyle was right....total player. One more dance, my ass. Maybe one more dance and then back to mine or hers or more than one dance, but not just one dance.

I take her hand and lead her onto the dance floor. As if on cue a slow song comes on. I wiggle my eyebrows at her before wrapping my arms around her waist. "Lets see how you do with the slower numbers" I say with a wink.
