Chapter 24

Post by magikhands »

Sorry about last week. Life was hectic. Here's the next chapter and only one more after this.

Chapter 24

Michael, Maria, Kyle, Tess, and Alex stayed at Michael’s place. The apartment was silent as the five sat in the den. Kyle and Tess snuggled in the chair while Michael, Maria, and Alex shared the couch. They all felt the slight twinge of anxiety the others were feeling as they confronted the parental units.

“I think my mom needs to know about us.” Maria said breaking the silence.

“She already knows that we are dating Maria.” Michael’s tone was in the d’uh area.

“No. I think she needs to know…everything.” She looked to Michael. “Think about it. She’s dating Valenti.” Maria visibly shudders. “No offense Kyle.”

“Trust me, I feel the same.” Kyle made a sour face. The thought of his father dating a friend’s mother was…unnerving.

“And they are getting quite serious. I mean the other day I walked in on them…”

“Maria! I don’t want details.” Kyle interrupted Maria’s ramble.

“Oh, yeah. Well, I have this feeling you and I will be siblings in the not so far off future if they keep it up. And then there’s the fact that the Parkers and Evans are about to learn the truth. Plus, it appears that I’m going to be developing some of those amazing yet scary abilities the hybrids have passed on and being stuck here with Space Boy…” She paused and smiled at Michael before giving him a peck on the cheek. “She’s going to find about you one way or another. And trust me, now will be much better than later. I’ve already hidden it from her for a year. How is she going to react when several years pass? You know her spaz attacks.”

The others looked at Maria as she took a deep breath and let it out. Yes, Maria was nervous. She babbled when she was nervous. None could blame her though. Especially Michael because they all knew how her mother was.

“I think we should talk to Dad first. He’ll be able to help us with Amy since he’s so…close to her.” Kyle once more made that sour face and shook his head.

Maria agreed and was able to relax some as she leaned back into Michael’s arms. She felt good that she wouldn’t have to lie to her mom much longer. Besides Liz and Alex, her mom was the only family she’d ever known…until now.

“We don’t have to worry about telling my parents.” Alex chipped in none too happily. It sounded like he was disappointed in the fact that there was really no reason to inform them of his new status or that of his friend’s. “They are once again out of the country. And even when they are home, they don’t seem too concerned about my whereabouts.”

They could all feel the sadness that radiated from their friend. Since his parents took over a major corporation a couple of years ago, they were hardly home and even less in their son’s life. The Parker’s had become his surrogate parents when they were out of town.

“Let’s see what’s on ESPN.” Michael said trying to lighten the mood and take their minds off what was happening in the apartment above the CrashDown. With a flick of the wrist the TV turned on and Kyle turned toward the screen while Maria and Tess groaned.

After some time, Maria’s head was lying in Michael’s lap as his hand absently ran through her hair. Her feet were propped on Alex’s lap. Alex’s head was laid back on the couch and his hands were stroking her bare feet. In the chair, Tess was still cradled in Kyle’s lap, her head laying on his shoulder and fingers playing with the curls at the nape of his neck. His eyes were watching the TV but his hands were slowly caressing circles on Tess’s back.

‘Max and I are going home. Our parents want to spend some time with us…and to talk some more.’ Isabel said through their deep connection. ‘Also Michael. They demand to see you tomorrow afternoon after we meet with the Parkers again.’

“Whoa, I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to this.” Kyle said.

Tess raised her head and smiled at him. ‘I kind of like it. It can be very convenient.’ Kyle’s eyes widened as Tess closed their connection to just the two of them and continued speaking in his mind of all the things she’d like to do with him when they finally got to be alone.

‘Wait. Why do they want to see me?’ Michael asked suddenly worried.

‘Don’t worry Michael. It’s a good thing.’ Max’s voice came through with reassurance. ‘They just want to get to know you a little better. Mom feels a guilty for leaving you out in the desert.’

‘But they didn’t know about me.’

‘I know. But it will be better if you just come over and get it over with and let her dote on you. It will make her feel better.’ There was laughter in Max’s voice. He knew how Michael hated attention like that.

‘Fine.’ Michael answered reluctantly. ‘Everything ok with the Parkers?’

‘So far. Liz stayed with them to talk. We are meeting with them again in the morning.’

The room fell silent again. Maria looked up to Alex who had quit rubbing her feet. His eyes were still closed but now he was smiling. She was sure that Isabel was carrying on a private conversation with him. Then she looked across the room and saw Kyle and Tess in their own little world. There was no mistaking the desire that swirled around the room.

Maria sat up and got off the couch. Michael looked at her in confusion. “Come on Space Boy. It’s time we went for a ride.” She said pulling him up off the couch.

Michael looked around and then back at Maria seeing the twinkle of desire in her eyes. Together, they left the apartment. Using Michael’s motorcycle, they rode through the desert until they reached the Pod Chamber where the two would spend several hours alone…and seeing just what sort of powers Maria may developed if coaxed the right way.

^^^^^^^^

Alex broke out of his Isabel trace when he heard Michael’s motorcycle roar off. He got up and headed for the door.

“See you guys later.” He called out as he left. Alex wanted to get home where he could be by himself. Isabel had wanted to be with him but her parents had insisted that both she and Max be home today.

Alex rushed home, locked all the doors, and went to his room. He lay on his bed and closed his eyes. Because he’d had little sleep the night before long, it didn’t take long for him to fall into a deep sleep. The next he remembered was opening his eyes to find Isabel lying on a bed in a red negligee. Alex took a quick look around and realized that he was in the dream plane. Anything outside of canopy bed was darkness like she was the center of the world, which he already thought that. With just two steps he was kneeling on the bed and gathering her to him body.

“Everything ok?” He asked between soft kisses.

“Ummm. Yes. I told them I was really tired and needed to rest since we’d gotten little sleep last night. I promised that I’d spend time with them later.”

“What about Max?” Alex asked but not until after a long passionate kiss.

“What about him? He can handle them right now. They are doing nothing but coddling him.”

Alex smiled as his lips traveled down her neck and his hands went to her breasts. “Good.” He felt her gasp as his fingers found her nipples and gave them a squeeze through the fabric. “I love you Isabel.”

Isabel threw her head back loving his touch. “I love you too Alex.”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Tess heard the door shut when Alex left. She pulled away from Kyle and saw that they were alone in the apartment. Finally. She smiled wickedly at Kyle who couldn’t seem to tear his gaze from her.

He was completely mesmerized by her beauty and the feelings she evoked in him. He’d never felt the way he did when she was near. It had about driven him crazy when she’d disappeared and now he knew that he’d never let her go again.

“It’s time Buddha Boy.” She said, her voice husky with the same need he felt through his body. He followed her into Michael’s bedroom, both determined to make their first time unforgettable.

Chapter 25 Conclusion

Post by magikhands »

Scottie wrote:Many people who read fanfic have said that Liz gave up her dreams to be with Max (in the show as well as in much of Roswell fanfic), but I agree with Liz that her dream only changed, she never gave it up. Her dream was Max. I loved this!
I believe that dreams don't die but change. I had a dream for most of my life and I was on my way to fulfilling it when my children were born. From the first moment I laid eyes on them I knew that I had another, more important job so my dreams didn't die, they just shifted and made me open to more possibilities :D

Ok, enough with the sappy stuff  . Here is the last chapter. Thanks to all those reading and those that left feedback. I had thought about expanding this story a bit more but decided to just go ahead and finish it up, closing another chapter in my list of fics. I hope you enjoyed this journey as I have.

Chapter 25

The Parker and Evans families met the following morning as planned at the Parker’s apartment for breakfast. Liz waited for Max down in the café. As soon as he entered the building her took her into his arms and held her close.

“Everything ok?” He asked quietly.

“Your son is doing quite fine.” Liz smiled as he leaned down and captured her lips. They only broke away when they heard the clearing of a throat behind them. They blushed realizing they were still standing near the doorway of the restaurant and had a few patron’s attention.

“Sorry Dad.” Max said glancing over his shoulder and taking Liz by the hand before leading them to the back.

Jeff and Nancy were laying the meal out on the table when the Evans family walked into the apartment. Pleasantries were exchanged as they sat and ate. The silence was a little unnerving for them all as they mentally searched for things to say. No one was quite sure how to start. Liz had stayed up much of the night with her parents filling them in on all that Max had not told them. They had both agreed that if they were going to tell the truth about who Max and the others were, they were going to let the parents know the risks that went along with that knowledge.

“We went through most of Liz’s medical evaluations last night.” Philip finally broke the silence. “It looks like she’ll only carry the baby about six months at the rate of his growth.”

“Six months? She’ll still be in school.” Nancy complained.

“Mom. It’s ok. I’m sure we can work something out with the school.” Liz tries to reassure her mother.

“But will it be safe?” Jeff asked concerned for his daughter’s health. It was bad enough that she was pregnant before she was out of high school, but the father is an alien hybrid to add to the complication of it all.

“From what all the medical personnel that examined her, they thought it should be a fairly complication free pregnancy. Liz is healthy, young, and strong.” Philip answered.

“What about prenatal care? If the baby is growing a little faster than normal, she can’t go to a Doctor. They will know something is different. And what about when it’s time to give birth? Will that be normal?”

Max took a deep breath. So many questions. The same ones he discussed with his parents the night before. They didn’t have all the answers but they were going to try the best they could.

“We don’t really know what to expect. Isabel and I were born from pods big enough to walk. This is the first human hybrid birth. But we’ve discussed it. Isabel went to the library last night and checked out medical journals on OB and pregnancy books. Our…abilities allow us to learn quicker and we only have to read something once before it’s committed to memory. She will work with Liz throughout the pregnancy and keep records. Liz can have the baby at home with no problems. After he is born, we can take him to a pediatrician and have him checked over but with no blood tests. We can say it’s against our religion.”

Jeff and Nancy looked worried but they didn’t really know what to say to argue what Max was telling them. They had no other suggestion either, not one that would keep Liz from harms way.

“We don’t have other options right now.” Isabel said trying to assure them but she wasn’t sure how well it worked.

“However…” Philip started but stopped. He looked down at his coffee cup not really sure how to proceed.

“What?” Jeff asked not liking how Philip was looking.

“We have found that there might be some…alien quirks that Liz may experience.” Max said and actually blushed.

“What do you mean?” Nancy asked.

“Don’t you remember the cravings you had with Liz?” Diane asked. She’d never been pregnant but she has heard all the other women talk about the strange things they ate while they were pregnant.

Nancy nodded but she didn’t see them as alien.

“Mom, my cravings will be different. Like last night I wanted Tabasco in my coke…well, I’ll have extremely strange tastes. But…then there’s..um..”

“What?” Jeff’s eyes narrowed on his daughter before they went to Max who looked away.

“We found out last night that I have these other…needs.”

“Like what?” Nancy asked but the other three parents were interested also.

Now it was Liz’s turn to blush. It was bad enough that the night before she had to talk to her parents about getting pregnant but this… “I have these cravings that only Max can calm.”

The four parents looked at Liz in confusion for a moment before her words slowly sank in. Jeff looked to Max and he could see the older man’s face begin to redden with anger. Max was smart enough to duck his head and pay special attention to his hands that lay in his lap. Jeff had exploded yesterday when he found out Liz was pregnant, but now the knowledge that Max would have to keep having sex with his daughter…was not something he knew Jeff didn’t want to think about.

Liz reached out and took her father’s hand trying to divert his attention from Max. “Daddy, please. You promised.”

Jeff took a deep breath and closed his eyes mentally counting to ten. “Yes Lizzie, I promised to try to be nicer to Max but that was before I knew you would have to continue…” Jeff couldn’t finish his sentence. He couldn’t verbally say that his one and only daughter would be having sex on a regular basis.

“Liz doesn’t have enough Antarian DNA to create the energy the baby will need from time to time as it grows.” Isabel tried to explain. Late in the evening, Max had come to her telling her what had happened. “Max can only transfer it by being intimate with Liz.”

“Wait a minute. How did you find this out? We never found anything like that in the papers and you didn’t use the phone all night.” Diane asked looking from Max to Liz to Isabel.

“In the middle of the night I woke up knowing that Liz needed me.” Max explained. “She called out to me. She wasn’t feeling well. So I came over.” Max looked to Jeff. “I’m sorry Mr. Parker. I couldn’t not come.”

“I asked Max to come Daddy. I needed him. Something wasn’t right.” Liz said trying to soothe the anger she knew her father was feeling. They had a long road ahead of them with Jeff Parker.

“How did you call him honey? I took the phone out of your room after you fell asleep so nothing would disturb you.”

“We can all communicate with each other. Remember how Max told all of you not to stop Dad?” Everyone nodded but Jeff. He hadn’t heard it. ‘That’s how.’ Liz finished in their mind.

The four adults gasped. None really thought about how they heard Max’s command the day before, too much was happening to really call attention to it.

“After I came back home, I spoke to Isabel about what happened and the visions we had while we…” Max stopped. There were just some things you can’t talk with your parents about.

“This will happen often?” Nancy asked.

Max and Liz shrugged. They wouldn’t mind it. Their time of love making the night before was beautiful. While they were together, they could actually feel their son and it was an indescribable experience.

“Well, I’m sure things can be modified as your time goes along. Right Jeff?” Nancy asked trying to be understanding to her daughter’s situation. Though it’s been 17 years, she could still remember how needy she was with her husband and the things they did together during her time of pregnancy.

Jeff glared at Max but slowly nodded.

“Thank you Daddy.” Liz leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. He turned to her, his expression softened and he actually smiled. “I’ll always be your little girl. I’m just growing up.” She had said the night before. He just hoped that was true and wasn’t loosing her to Max Evans.

“Mr. Parker, I’m also asking your permission to marry Liz before our son is born.” Max spoke up. He and Liz had discussed it the night before and thought that now was as good of time as any. At least he had his parents there so Mr. Parker wouldn’t kill him.

“You realize what you are asking?” Jeff spoke to Max for the first time.

“Yes sir. But I love Liz and I want us to raise our son together.”

“The two of you are still in school. You’re only about to become juniors. That’s two years before you graduate. How do you propose to support a family Max? And what about after you graduate? College?”

“We will continue with school and graduate. As I mentioned before, we have excellent learning skills so schoolwork will not be a problem. Brody said I can have my job back at the UFO Center and Liz insists on continuing to work for you. We haven’t really discussed where we will live yet but I’m sure that we can find something affordable with both of us working. As for college, we will discuss that as the time comes closer.”

“You’ll do no such thing.” Diane said before Max could even take his next breath. Every head turned to her. Max opened his mouth to protest. His mother had been so understanding the day before. He never dreamed she’d protest he and Liz getting married. “Our home is big enough that the two of you can come and live with us. I’ve got that small sewing room that you can turn into a nursery when the baby gets older and I don’t work so I can help watch the baby while you go to school and work.”

“And I can help watch him too.” Nancy volunteered. She would love for Liz and the baby to live there with them but with Max added to the household, it may get even more cramped. And she wasn’t sure if Jeff and Max could handle living so close together this early on. Their apartment was smaller than the Evans’ home but just as cozy. She could easily set Liz’s room up so that they could come over and spend some time with them also. At least she and Jeff could get to know Max better.

“Mom, Mrs. Parker…we don’t want to inconvenience anyone. Liz and I want to take responsibility for our actions.”

“Max, you are my son. I will not have my grandchild living in some cheap apartment that may not be safe just to save your pride. And you are going to be responsible for your actions. Do you really think I’m getting up in the middle of the night with a screaming baby?” She asked but they all heard the humor in her voice

“Diane is right. Neither of you can work full time until you graduate, so we will help out where we can. One being a roof over your heads. Thank you Diane.” Nancy said.

Diane smiled at the other mother. “I love Liz. She’s a wonderful person and she makes my son happy.”

Liz and Max turned to Jeff who’d been quiet since he asked Max his question.

“Mr. Parker?”

Jeff looked at his wife, then his daughter, before turning to Diane and Philip. They had found two naked children wandering in the desert and took them in to raise with no questions. Jeff had to admit that Isabel and Max were good kids. He’d watched them grow up as they came into the restaurant through the years. And now Diane and Philip were willing to open their home and goodness to his daughter.

“Do you promise to take care of my Lizzie and protect her?”

Max nodded. “With my life.”

“And no more children until you are old enough to support them?”

Max glanced over at Liz who nodded. “Yes sir.”

Jeff let out a sigh. He was giving up his little girl but looking at her, he could see she was no longer his little Lizziebear. No, she was a woman, about to have her own child to raise.

“You have my blessing to marry Liz. However, if you ever hurt her or…”

“I completely understand Mr. Parker.” Max said before he could go any further. He knew that he would never intentionally hurt Liz or put her in harms way. The same went for his son. As he promised earlier, he would protect them with his life if need be.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Later that night, Max and Liz lay on a blanket out in the desert looking up at the stars. It was a cloudless night and the sky twinkled brightly down on them. In the distance they heard a coyote howl along with an owl hooting a response. The night air was cooled with a slight breeze that blew over their naked bodies. As they lay there in the heart of nature, they reached out and could feel their friends spending the evening with their mates. All around it was a time of peace.

While the Evans and Parkers were meeting that morning, Valenti went with the others to tell Amy the truth. As expected Amy went a little ballistic but not for the reason they all thought. She calmly told Michael that she knew something was different about him and thought that it was quite ironic that her daughter was dating an alien considering what her business was. It was the fact that Maria had lied to her for a year that got her fired up. She tore into Maria pretty harsh then when Valenti tried to reason with her, she chewed him out also from keeping it from her. It was actually Kyle who was able to calm Amy down directing her to do some deep breathing and do some little chant he made up.

Amy is still miffed with Maria and Valenti and Liz was warned to be ready for her chewing out when Amy saw her next but otherwise Amy was accepting of it all. Even when they told her how Maria was mated to Michael and how he could never leave Maria. Everyone thought the thought comforted Amy very much, to know that her daughter would always be loved and never abandoned. But they also all promised the parental units that no more children would be made until they graduated and could support them on their own.

“What destiny do you believe Max?” Liz asked breaking the silence. “Dr. Harper’s theories about you being brought here to make a new race or that you are to go back to Antar one day to save it?”

“I’m not really sure. I think both have truths to it but I feel as if there is more to each story I’ve heard. The dreams are the only thing I can rely on right now as they give us more information about who we are. I can only follow my instincts and hope they are the right thing.”

“And what are they telling you now?” She asked as she rolled over, her body pressed on top of his.

“That I love you and our son. And that I will do whatever is needed to protect my family.” He leaned up and captured her lips for a sensual kiss.

He rolled them over so she now lay beneath him. He broke their kiss and shifted as he reached over and dug through his jeans. He lifted slightly, placed a small box in Liz’s hand and opened it. Inside was a gold ring with a small diamond.

“Liz, from the moment I saw you, I knew that you were my destiny. That you were all I would ever want. When I saved you that day, our souls touched and linked forever. Our love has now created a life who is the best of both of us. Elizabeth Parker…will you marry me?”

Tears streaked down Liz’s cheeks as she looked up at the man she loved. This was the one person she knew she could trust with her life in every way. He held her heart, body, and soul. He was her everything from the moment he reached inside of her and healed her.

“Yes, I will marry you Maxwell Evans.”

He smiled and placed the ring on her finger.

“Perfect.” She said.

“Just like you.” He said before he leaned down and kissed her again. Max shifted again and slowly entered her, both moaning in pleasure. They made love again under the desert sky. There was no urgency, no energy transfer, just two people who loved one another sharing their hearts and bodies. As they climaxed together, visions of the future flashed through their mind. They showed many joys and sorrows that were to come but both knew the future could change so they paid them no heed, only concentrated on pleasing their love.

Embraced and sweat laced, they clung to each other knowing that they would have to part soon. The parents had demanded that until they were married properly they would not spend the night with each other. Max and Liz agreed but only if they could get married in two weeks, the weekend before school started. Reluctantly the parents agreed seeing that Liz would be delivering in four short months and that she may have frequent needs to be calmed as the birth of their grandson drew closer.

“Do you ever think about going home anymore?” Liz asked as she studied the dazzling stars above.

“I am home.” Max said pulling her closer and kissing the love of his life.
