"Sure, anyone else want anything from the bar?"

"Since you ask, could ya bring me a bottle of water? This sweet stuff is getting a bit much." I reply, after drowning the Mai Tai.

Hopefully, Isabel and I will be able to get Liz over to Max before anyone else interrupts our scheming.

*MARIA*

Ok, so Isabel has something up her sleeves and it has to do with Liz and marriage. I get that. What I don't get is why. This is the way Liz has always been. I speak up a little. "Well, I think our Lizzie would be a great catch," I say standing up for her. When she looks at me gratefully, I grin evilly and add, "If she could stop playing around with them long enough to realize she wanted a serious relationship." Her mouth drops open and I laugh a little.

~LIZ~

What? "Ok, so now you're saying that it's my fault that I attract these party animals?" I ask. Maria is giving me a look that says that's exactly what she's telling me. I look to Isabel. "Tell me you don't believe that."

I admit that I like my fun. I love to date and flirt and play but where's the harm in that? I'll settle down eventually, when I meet the right one. But there's no way that it's my fault that I haven't met Mr. Right yet. Is there?

Isabel

I can't help but laugh at the expression on Liz's face after hearing Maria's comment.It went from gratefulness to shock in one second.
"Tell me you don't believe that." she asks me with one of her glares

I try to look serious but it's difficult,"Oh come on Liz...you have to admit she has a point.When was the last time you had a relationship that lasted longer than a month?"

I pretend to ponder that question myself for a moment but then answer it myself,"High school...with that nice guy Jesse.The moment it looked as though he was getting serious about you...you dumped him and broke his heart.Face it Liz,no guy is going to take you seriously because they know you don't want to be serious."

There...if she doens't rise to the bait now then it's not going to happen.

~LIZ~

I sit there and think for a few minutes, going over all the relationships I can think of in my past and I'm surprised by how many there are. And Isabel's right, though I hate to admit it. None of them have lasted longer than a month.

"Jesse was a nice guy but come on...it was high school! Did he expect us to get married or something? That's just ridiculous. Who gets really serious with their high school sweetheart?" I know I'm starting to get a little hyper about this but hey, this is my reputation here. "But now that I'm wiser and have some experience, I could make any guy take me seriously...if I really liked him, even one of these playboys." There let them argue with that!

*MARIA*

Some bell goes off in the back of my head but I simply roll my eyes and grin goodnaturedly at my friends. "Liz, you couldn't be serious for five minutes if you wanted to," I tease.

Sometimes I wonder if she could be serious but she's so much fun the way she is that I hated to bring it up. I wonder now if she's really happy in her life or if it's all a show or partly both.

Isabel

Liz seems a little offended by what I had said but defends herself,"But now that I'm wiser and have some experience, I could make any guy take me seriously...if I really liked him, even one of these playboys."

Aha...that's it.The sentence I had been waiting for.

"Oh really...any of the playboys here tonight?" I can't help but grin "Shall we bet on that?If you can get one of these playboys...better yet,one of my choice to...want to marry you in one months time...then I will concede defeat and acknowledge that you have changed."

*MARIA*

Aha! That's what Isabel had planned all along! I give her a knowing look but don't say anything and hide it from Liz with my drink. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Liz has this sort of panicked look for a minute but it's gone so fast, if I hadn't been watching closely, I wouldn't have caught it. This ought to be a lot of fun. I wonder who Isabel has in mind for her.

Marriage?! I feel a little sick at the thought for a moment but then the word "bet" echoes in my head and I am suddenly transformed. I don't turn down dares or bets unless it's something really dangerous. I suddenly feel like a lioness out on the hunt and I give Isabel's smirk a self-assured smile in answer. I take a moment to think about Isabel's challenge and go over it again.

"Ok, so I have to make one of these guys, your choice, fall in love with me and want to marry me within a month, is that right? I don't actually have to marry him though right?" I mean, my god, who knows if she would pick a serial killer or a mobster or someone equally as bad. "What are the stakes with this bet?" I ask. I don't want to agree to anything until I know exactly what we're betting on and for.

I lean forward a bit as I get a little excited at the challenge. My last one wasn't such a big deal. All I had to do was get this one guy who was a total geek to allow me to make him over into a total hunk. That took a lot of time but it turned out that he was a real sweetheart and had good looks under the glasses and bad hair and bad clothes. He just needed someone to take some time with him and when I was done, he was very happy with the results and now has a very steady girlfriend. Hmm. I wonder why I didn't end up with him.

Occ: yeah, it do don't it. Didn't think about it until you pointed it out though. You want I should change it? Eh?

"Ok, so I have to make one of these guys, your choice, fall in love with me and want to marry me within a month, is that right? I don't actually have to marry him though right?" she asks a little worriedly

I shrug my shoulders carelessly,"If you fall in love with him you might want to marry him.Who knows!?"

"What are the stakes with this bet?"

I ponder over the question for a moment,"If you win,I'll pay for your next two visits to Lifespring (fancy pants spa and massage parlour) and if I win you give me your next two months discount coupons for Victoria's Secret that your dad always manages to get for you through his contacts."
