"So what shall we do after we eat? Alex has been gone for some time now. Do you think he found out anything?"
I swallow down the last bit of the food I have in my mouth and grab my glass of wine, studying the dark-red liquid in it for absent minded for a minute. Then I look into Maria's eyes. "I really hope so, Maria," I take a sip of the wine and put the glass back on the table. "I'm so confused about this whole story. I mean - in all those years Zan has never sent me a picture of himself.... and now he is sending guards?" I sigh heavy. "I don't know if I should take this as a bad sign for my future life with him. If he sends guards to protect me now - even before our wedding day.." I hesite, not sure how to tell my friend about my fears. "Maria - do... do you think he will held me like in a cage when we are married? I don't think I could life like that - even when the cage is golden....."

Tess settles down on her side next to me and wonders out loud,"I wonder why prince Xan decided to send two guards for Elizabeth. I hope its just a precaution."
"He's probably just being cautious...what with the situation still being uncertain.I guess until the details of the peace process are ironed out everyone will be on the tips of their toes."
Getting up I hold my hand out to her to pull her up,"Come on,let's go eat dinner.I'm starving."

I'm a little hurt when Vilandra turns away from me to go back to sleep, but I understand it. Now that I have calmed down and feel sleepy again, my mind is racing, trying to figure out what happened. I have no memory of the dream Lonnie described to me. But when I try to remember it, I do feel fear, real fear for the first time in many years. I sigh as I wrap my arm carefully around Lonnie and try to go back to sleep. I will think on it more tomorrow.

I think carefully about Liz's question before finally shaking my head. "No, I don't think he'll be like that but even if I'm wrong, you can ask his guards or even send for help. But Xan's reputation, the current king and the Crown Prince, are really good. They seem sincere in wanting this peace. Besides, I think it kinda shows a curious nature. Maybe they just want to find out more about us or maybe just you." I wave my fork in dismisal. "Anyway, whatever they're coming for, there are only 2 of them and Uncle Jeff won't let anything happen to you."
Basil sticks his head in my lap to beg for food again. I shoo him away and ignore him when he only sits there panting and drooling at my plate. He's been with us all day, except for 2 brief trips outdoors and I'm tempted to lock him in my chambers because he's making a pest of himself but I can't blame him. He needs the attention.

"Of course he won't." I say after Maria's finished. I've been listening to them for a few minutes (bad me, I know) and think that now is a good time to enter. "Can't believe you started eating without me, I'm a growing boy after all." I joke slightly before sitting down in an empty chair.
"Kyle thinks that Xan is just wanting to be careful, that he wants to make sure that nothing happens to you, especially now that there might be a war coming." I tell the girls of what Kyle said, "He also says the prince is a good guy and that he isn't trying to insult us by sending guards. He just doesn't want you to get harmed, Liz."

Occ: I don't mind skipping ahead either. I wanted to point out that all the characters don't have to have the same times of day in their posts. Different planets have different length days and years. Does that make sense? So just because it's night time on one planet where our characters are and summer doesn't mean it can't be noon and dead of winter on another. That was part of the reason I put it on different planets.

I rush around supervising the servants and checking to see if everything in Tess' room is as she likes it.Fresh flowers from the garden,lavender potpourri in the closet,pink towels in the bathroom.all the lotions and perfumes in the buduoire...I think everything is ready.
Going back in to my own room I check my hair in the mirror once again to see it's still in place before going out to the landing deck where the spaceship from Valentia should be landing any minute now.
I hope Kivar remembers to come up.I did remind him this morning of his sister's arrival but he's been so absent minded for the past two days.That damn dream of his has really upset him and he's been on edge ever since.May be this visit from Tess will be good for us all.I know she'll be surprised to see me happy again.

I march up the stairs from the keeps below the palace and head for my chambers for a bath and to change clothes. Now that what I had decided to is over, I'm having a few doubts but I try to shrug them off. You cannot trust someone who would lie to you about something as serious as your wife cheating on you and therefore the man had to die. I didn't want anyone else to have to do it. Now, as I strip off my clothes, I order my valet, "Get rid of those and make sure that no word of what has transpired reaches the queen."
"Yes, my lord," he responds with a bow and leaves me to my bathing. I'm glad for the moment of peace, although I know it will not last long. I must hurry to meet my sister. She will be arriving any moment and Vilandra has asked me to be there to greet Ava with her.
As I wash myself, I think back over the past 2 days. So many things have changed. I don't know exactly what to think or do about them. After that dream, it seemed that providence decided to intervene when the chief doctor came to me and reminded me that it had been some time since my last physical. At first, I put him off and refused but then I thought back on the dream and agreed.
*Flash*
"Well, what have you discovered? Am I the perfect speciman and everyone should strive to be me?" I joked with the doctor with a chuckle.
His frown has me worried however and his next words don't help. "Your majesty, I think we need to conduct a few more tests. I think we may have made an error somewhere," he says, forcing a smile onto his face.
I stand up from the examination table where I had been refastening my cloak. "What did you find?" I ask in a low tone.
"Well, our results are still inconclusive..." he beings.
"What have you found?!" I yell at him.
"Something in your brain, your majesty," he blurts out. I freeze at the words. "We cannot be entirely certain but it looks like a parasite of some kind. We will need to run additional tests of course and find out exactly what type of parasite it is...if that's indeed what it is at all..."
I feel my heart and head start to pound. A parasite, in my brain. My eyes study him thoroughly, and I try to access what he knows but he blocks me and I don't push it. I narrow my eyes at him and growl out, "You are not to breathe a word of this to anyone. Do you understand? If anyone has even a hint of this, there would be anarchy as people tried to take my throne from me. I don't want the queen to worry unnecessarily either. Do you understand me?"

Stepping out into the bright light of day, I smile at my beautiful wife. We have spent two wonderful nights together with no repeats of what had occurred that first night. No more nightmares. "I see I made it in time," I say, coming to stand right behind her.
