"I didn't mean it like that, but fair enough... so how did you meet Liz, Alex? I'd like to know more about you... I take it if she says yes I'll be seeing you around afterall..." "Plus you seem like a really nice guy."
"Uhm, thanks." I reply, unsure where to start first - with how I met Liz or with what I'm doing? I better start with Liz.
"I met Liz years ago and we just clicked, getting along really well, you know. We two and Maria - my other best friend, were always there for each other, helping us in bad times and we three even lived together for some time. There was never anything romantic going on between me and one of the girls, they are like sisters to me."
Max probably would have wanted to know about that last bit, I guess so ... I just said it instead of waiting for him to ask. "I left Roswell a few years ago, travelling the world so I could learn about methods to prevent the ongoing pollution, but so far, I sadly haven't found any solution yet. I'm actually hoping that Antarians and their technology might be able to help us save our planet. Or at least treat it better in the future. But your sister seems to believe that it isn't possible that humans not destroy the planet."
I add the last with a smile, not wanting to to make Max think I have a problem with his sister. Then I remember something he had said, "Wait ... if she says yes? So you are really going to ask Liz? You are already sure about that? No chickening out?"

I swallow before giving a nervous smile. "Well....she does seem....how do I put this...perfect? She's...everything and more that I could have hoped for. But like I said, if she says no thats the end of that. I want her to be happy with whatever decision she makes. Her happiness is what counts." I say with a smile.

"I'm certainly glad to hear that, Mr. Evans." I note with a smile of my own. I'm starting to think that he might be able to win Maria over too which wouldn't be a small thing to accomplish.
"I'd really like to have a talk with you or one of your scientists again so I can learn about how you deal with pollution but I'm really tired and also aware that I appeared at your doorstep unannounced, so I guess I leave your home now."

Isabel
I listen to her intently as she carries on about Max.She seems quite smitten already from all that she's telling me.I must say she has noticed a lot about him from one meeting.
"Max doesn't feel the need to show his power and wealth." I tell her quietly after she finishes "He knows and understands that he is king and that he has a responsibility to his people which he takes very seriously.Your life will not be easy if you marry him but he will try his best to make you happy should you two decide to carry through with this plan."
Taking a sip of my tea I look at her for a moment before remarking,"I hope you think things through properly, objectively.I have to be truthful and tell you that I have been against this plan from the moment I heard it but this is Max's business and will be yours should you marry him.My best wishes will be with you should you decide to become a part of this family."

*Maria*
The captivating stranger across from me gives me a warm smile but it doesn’t quite reach his amazing brown eyes. What could be troubling him? I tilt my head slightly to the side intrigued by his reaction. There’s something about this guy that is puzzling. I don’t really know anything about him but it is as if my heart trusts him instantly. I’m going to trust my instinct on this one. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? I listen intently as he assures me,
"I'm sure your friend is find, if anything was wrong she would definitely tell you. This is just a bit different and frightening I'm sure, but from what I gather it is of great importance and I doubt the alien King would allow anything to harm her." He’s right. I know he is ,but it is still difficult to hear. I fear for my friend. Leave it to her to venture into the unknown. She could never just be content with a regular guy. Although I admit I adore any alternative in which she isn’t dating my Cousin Sean.
I love them both ,but they just don’t go good together in my opinion. Not that any one of them asked me mind you. Oh well, I’m just going to have to trust my girl on this one.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t. I just…” I trail off looking for the words to convey my conflicting emotions.
“I know how important this is. How significant a role she could play in saving us all but at what price? I won’t have her play the martyr and give up her chance at happiness by marrying a complete stranger.
I have to look out for my friend’s best interest even when she is to busy to consider the severity of her actions. Also what about this Alien King? Doesn’t he want to fall in love?” I pause for a moment to hit my point home.
“Everybody deserves to find that person that completes them. Even Aliens.” I sound like a hopeless romantic. I tear my gaze away from Michael’s and instead focus on my cappuccino.

Occ: Sorry, everyone but my internet connection and cable have been acting up because some bozo thought they would try to get free cable by cutting or disconnecting all the wires on our apartment building in the cable box outside. Sigh.

Idiots.
~LIZ~
For all of the formalness that accompanies Isabel's words, I feel they are also sincere. I smile genuinely at her and see just a glimpse of a vulnerable side. "Thank you. I hope that if we do end up working out that you and I will be able to become good friends," I say quietly, not able to look at her for her reaction to that. Taking a sip of tea, I gather my courage and ask, "Why were...are you so against this?" I am pleased that my tone doesn't sound accusing in any way, just curious. Don't ask me why but I can't help but feel like Isabel could be a good friend to have.

"Oh...okay...but uh...your welcome to stay if you want... I mean... any friend of Liz's is welcome in this house... you could stay for dinner or something..."
I sigh. "Sorry...I'm not too good with the extending invitations thing yet." I say with a small smile.

I smile reassuingly at the other man. "Don't worry, you are doing fine with the invitation stuff. But I still have to decline. It's been months since I was last at my appartement, I really wanna take a look at it again and sleep there."
Besides, it would be rude if I just stay here over night, but I don't say that out loud.
"But in case there are spiders, snakes and other wild animals living in my place now, I'll come back and remind you of your offer."

I can't help but laugh at his comment. I nod and smile, "Sure...any time... we'll be here. And hey..." I quickly delve into my pocket and offer it to him. "Feel free to call me anytime you want to arrange to talk to a scientist.... my cell's on there too." I tell him.

"Wow, thanks, that's really great." I grin when I take Max's card. "I will certainly call soon, there are many things I want to talk about ... but not today. We better head back to your sister and Liz again, they might start worrying that I'm giving you the third degree here."
