Chapter 28 B

Sometimes I can go into people’s heads when they’re sleeping. Isabel remembered saying that to Tess when Agent Pierce captured her brother.
And you can communicate with him? Tess asked if she could communicate with people while she dream walked. However, Isabel remembered she taps into their subconscious.

Maybe if she tried, she could tap into the Alex part of his brain and somehow override the part Kivar had inhibited.
Closing her eyes she concentrated on Alex, ignoring Kivar who was using Alex’s voice to coax a reply.

Isabel, Alex replied, his voice so faint and distant but it was enough to
risk her life in order to free Alex.

“I’ll go with you only if you stay away form my friends and not to harm Alex, anymore.”

Kivar smiled, “Okay but I can’t guarantee that your friends will stay away from me. In which I will have to defend myself,” He glanced over at Tess, who was still in her fragile foetal position. “I just have to deal with a traitor first,”
__ _ _ _ _ _ _

Something inside Liz was hungry to fight. She couldn’t ignore the feelings inside her. The feelings were instinctive: go! Get inside! Save Max!
It seemed so surreal, running for her life down Kyle’s street while many other people were going on their daily business. Mrs Thistle, a family friend waved as Liz ran by. She was almost out of breath but she could hear Isabel’s screams everywhere.

Why can’t anybody else hear them?

“Hang on soldier,” Serena’s perky voice was behind her just as Liz made it through Kyle’s drive way. She turned her head back in annoyance, only to find, not only Kal Langley but also Larek in the form of Brodie Davis.
“I thought I’d bring enforcements.” Serena was still wearing the royal blue and yellow cheerleader’s outfit. She looked flushed but her wild cherry hair and blue silver eyes were fierce. Kal was in his black business suit while Brodie was wearing flannel shirt and jeans. “ Don’t worry humans can’t hear the commotion going on inside...” he said, pointing to Kyle’s house.

Liz shrugged, “Well, let’s go,”
A shield erupted in front of Liz’s body but Liz waved her hand through the pink mist, watching as the shield broke away like a membrane and disappear.
“We know Kivar’s power. Despite being in human form he can tap into the other ninety percent of the brain that’s not being used to defend himself. He is the most powerful and feared warrior known.” Larek said in his usual distant dull monotone. Liz had no time for this, tears were already coating her flushed cheeks.

“ Max is in there, and so is Alex…. Kyle, Isabel and Tess of all things,” Liz was screeching at the top of her lungs, her throat throbbed as she continuously pointed at the front doorway that had a thin glittery shield around it; so thin in fact that to any onlooker it would seem that they got sun in their eyes.

“Okay Liz,” Serena walked towards her with Kal and Brodie in two. “ But stand aside. We need to break through Kivar’s shield, if we can..”
“Oh no you don’t!” Liz placed a firm grip on Brodie’s shirt. “ Brodie is innocent. Go and protect Maria. If you wanna help me then get Maria. She’s cloaked in a jetta a few blocks away. So, get her and drive her to the UFO museum and wait. If anything happens I want her safe and out of harms way”

“Aren’t you in harms way Miss Parker?” Kal said as Brodie nodded and left the group to find Maria.

“Well,” Liz tilted her head back and pretended to think of Kal’s questions, her long brown hair flung across her face and stuck to the bottom of her trembling lips, “ I-I’m supposed to be apart of this royal four? Aren’t I? I’m not going to let Max down. I ran away when he found out about his destiny. I’ve lied to him and now I’ve got him back. I will not run away.” She will not stand aside, knowing full well that Max could die in there.

Liz had faith in them but she didn’t want to be left behind, doing nothing. Her bond with her unborn son told her that it was her son that wanted to help; it was him who convinced Liz in a matter of thirty seconds that it will be all right. So why not believe her own son? Charn was supposed to be this powerful being; even being inside her she could feel his presence. He knows what to do, which scared her in a way that she was supposed to be the one protecting her child: not the other way around.

She was only eighteen years old and she had to make these decisions that required more age in order to make that decision. Somehow, Liz pushed her innocence aside and stood aside to allow Kal and Serena to break the shield. Part of her knew they wouldn’t be able to break Kivar’s shield. Kivar is powerful, even in a human body, which dreaded the meeting of his Ra body- his real body- in the future.
Hopefully it won’t come to that, Liz said to herself.

A lone figure walked down the dim hallway, his presence caused darkness to cover the walls as he past, and a rush of cold infected everything he touched. Her pale arms slid across the wall as he entered a small room with a woman tied to the bed. His long dark sarong wrapped around his waist as a silver crest necklace was worn around his neck. His tousled wavy brown hair fell across his face and lightly touched his shoulders. His short locks of hair formed a parted fringed and banged around his eyes that were a dark brown, almost black as it was a stark contrast to his ashen skin that was even beautiful in the moonlight. He slid on a long black trench coat that fell to his bare feet. His face was chiselled like an angel but his smirk revealed his evilness that lingered inside his bitter heart.

Kivar, the word flashed across her mind.

A hand touched her arm and the image vanished and Liz looked up to see Kal looking at her with concern. In front, Serena was blasting all her energy into the shield but it continued to feed on Serena’s energy. An endless river of pink rippled into the shield but it made not rips or torns big enough to fit through.

“You saw something,” He whispered.
Liz slightly nodded. She didn’t what happened. One moment she was thinking to herself and then the next moment she had a flash of this attractive night creature that turned out to be Kivar. She was unsure about the woman that was tied to the bed. Who was she?
“Vision?” Kal asked.

“I don’t know. Usually when I touch things I see things but this vision evolved from a thought.” Liz looked to him for answers.
“You are still…developing into your powers.” His shades provided no sign of comfort. “ Maybe you are getting stronger in time,”

Kivar, a childlike voice whispered inside her head. A voice of a boy that clenched her heart with joy and sadness.

“No, it was Charn,” Liz whispered. Her own son gave her a glimpse of the future.

“A bond between child and mother is very strong. There is no record of a child providing visions of the future but….I dare say that your child is the reason behind you being strong Liz. It is your son. Your powers haven’t surfaced yet, besides being able to see into the future. “
“So you’re saying that I’m weak?”

“No,” he said a little too quickly, he shrugged his shoulders and attempted to smile but it came out wrong. His smile looked like it was forced- Liz saw too much for his white teeth but no emotion behind it.

Yes, he is, Charn said to her.

“My son says otherwise,” Liz emphasised. She couldn’t help but feel upset that she wasn’t strong.

You will be strong, her son’s voice said, he giggled and went back to sleep. It was strange, out of the ordinary, but with this information Liz knew her son could break the shield.

Serena lifted her hand away and fell to the ground, out of breath. She was breathing deep breaths; sweat covered her body. Liz saw sweat marks underneath her armpits and on her forehead like tiny raindrops.
“Cover me,” Liz said to Serena and tilted her head back to look at Kal.
Charn, Liz thought to herself. I need you to break through this shield. Help mommy save daddy and aunty Isabel.

It felt strange, talking to her unborn son who only began to show through her swollen stomach but looking down she saw Max’s handprint, glowing like the sun in its silver light. She felt a hot blaze sizzle upwards and cover her body until it was too much-she realised the blinding white beam with a loud Ka-Boom like a atom bomb going off she was flung back and was caught by Kal as they fell to the ground.

Liz looked up and found Kivar’s shield had been torn in half, like ripped curtain drapes and was frizzling away. Black scorch marks covered the front footpath and had brunt Kyle’s front door to ash and burnt woodchips. Only a rusted bronze doorknob was the only remains of the door.....but the doorknow was already half melted into the floorboard.

“Quick! Inside ” Liz had no time to explain, she winced as her leg was throbbing from the fall but ignored it, limping into Kyle’s home along with Serena and Kal just as the shield was woven back together and became whole once more.

Serena ducked in front of Liz-who had regained some energy to protect Liz but Liz stopped her and stood in front. She was confident that Kivar would not have any power to touch her while her son helped by using his powers.

She walked in to find three limp bodies on the floor; the smell of death hanging in the air and Isabel struggling against Kivar.

Liz had less than a second to act. She whipped to Serena and Kal-they both nodded and ran over to Isabel and lifted their hands to blast Kivar.

Their powers were like BB guns compared to Kivar's dark energy sizzling around him in endless dark cloud swirls, Kal and Serena's eletiric balls were thrown continually , making little pink and blue flits into Kivar but simply turned, with Isabel still by his side, smiling Alex’s cheeky grin. His wave brought a blast of atomic concoctions. Kal and Serena were flung back and thrashed into the wall, sliding down as crack of wall fell beside them, their bodies drained from using their energy but they staggered back up and tried again.

Liz didn’t stay in the front door for long, she hurdled over the kitchen bench top but she skidded across, loosing balance and fell on top of Max, she felt blood soaking into the back of her jeans when she realised that someone’s blood covered the table like a huge puddled, dripping at the corners to make more patterns on the brown carpet.

Kyle was still on the floor, next to Max. Awake but still groggily and hadn’t managed to sit up. Max was comatose, his skin was cold to touch but still Liz cupped his face and kissed him, breathing warm puffs of air into his face to see if he would move, looking into his dull amber eyes to shock him out of it. How much energy did he use? Was he too drained to wake up? Liz had no answers. She only became one of them only this year and Max had eighteen years worth of experience.

Just think about Max, Liz instructed herself, mimicking the same hand moves Max did when he connected with her. She cupped his cheeks and blanked out everything but the thought of Max.

He blink, a few tears leaked from his eyes and his lips were on hers. The simple gesture brought love and Liz pressed his head closer together, deepening the kiss by opening her mouth open to him.

No words were needed to tell if Max was okay. Just one touch from Max Liz Instinctivelyknew he was okay. The connection opened between the two of them with a warm wave of love which calmed them both.
Max looked down at Kyle who was fully awake and looking around, still lying flat on his back Liz got off Max and helped Kyle up while Max grabbed Kyle's briused back and hauled him up to lean against the kitchen cabinets. Liz then crept on top of Michael and healed his neck wound, feeling his hands slip in his pool of blood. She then sat by max's side, ready to attack Kivar when he was distracted. But he wasn't. He was standing inches away with a shocked experssion. Looking down Liz realised Max's handprint on her was glowing.

Kivar seemed flabbergasted; his mouth was wide open and his eyes for the first time showed fear.
“What…how…can it how did you get in here of all things….” He stopped, clenched Isabel tighter to him. He used his left arm to shield Kal and Serena up against the wall. Liz saw Serena was trying anything to brake through the imaginary chains Kivar had placed on her but it was to no avail. “Well, I guess its auf Wiedersehen for now,” Kivar laugehd but Liz knew he was afriad. He just found out that there was someone more powerful than him out there. Charn.

Isabel mouthed the word sorry to her brother. Tears were falling down her face as she tried to composure herself.
Kivar rushed off with black clouds whispering as he disappeared, along with Isabel and Tess.
“NOOOO!” Max screamed, lurching forward but only clutched the dark wisps trail as Kivar disappeared, along with a screaming Isabel. His scream matched his sister’s and echoed through the hallways. Liz felt guilty because she knew she could have prevented it from happening. She rubbed her swollen stomach and sighed. What now?

Chapter 29

Watching Max from the corner of her eye he remained motionless the journey back to the UFO centre. If Liz didn’t look as closely as she did it would seem he wasn’t breathing, as all his energy was lost when his sister was taken from him. Serena and Kal were still back at Kyle’s house when she left.

Its all my fault, Liz realised, allowing herself to shed a tear for Isabel. Although she felt that it was Isabel’s decision in the first place to leave with Kivar. Which meant Kivar conned her into thinking that Alex would survive. Liz knew her best friend was going to die; it was only now she allowed herself to think about it without breaking down. She loved him very much and hoped that Alex would be free before his body would collapse.

But Liz had to keep her eyes on the road as she was driving the Jeep to the UFO centre. Kyle and Michael were too weak; both of them nearly died back there and Max was too far-gone so it was left to pregnant Liz.
She looked at the clock on the jeep. August, Liz thought. It’s that time already? Liz was fourth months now and she was starting to show. However, thanks to her new powers she was able to cloak her swollen stomach in public.

She parked in the car park and tilted her head back.
“Are you guys alright?” she asked and only received a brief nod. She could tell by their pale faces and the bright glowing blue handprints and silver on their neck and chest that they were not okay.
But she had to get them inside.
First was Max.

“Come on,” Liz nudged Max who was still dead to the world.
“Need help?” Kal asked as he got out of Serena’s white rabbit. She didn’t even hear them pull up. Liz was thankful for back staff parking as the huge grey building concealed them from the locals and tourists of Roswell.
Kal and Serena carried the Max, Michael, and Kyle inside while Liz headed inside the UFO centre. Only to find a note tapped to the front office in Maria’s lazy handwriting.

Gone to Carnival to clear head with Larek. Be back in ten…
Maria

Damn that girl, Liz swore softly. How was she supposed to protect everyone when they decided to head off and do they own thing? Kivar could be anywhere and until he was found they had to stick together.

_

Out of the darkness Isabel felt her feet touch the cold pavement and then the stale smell of musty air chocked her lungs. She was in abandoned soap factory a few miles from Roswell. Tess was still groaning and leaving a blood trail around her fragile form. Despite her weak state she was still fiery and fighting for her life. Kivar was still behind her with his arms tightly around her waist. He was so close she could smell his stale breath hot on her neck. She pulled away from him and he allowed her to turn around and look deep into Alex’s sea green eyes.
“You promised…” Isabel whispered.

“I did,” He bowed his head and turned to Tess. “Oh Tess,” He crouched down and held her face in his hands. “I need to borrow you,”
His face slacked and a dark mist left Alex’s body limp and rushed into Tess’s body, with a strangled scream Isabel knew that Kivar possessed Tess and Alex was a free man. His body was still lying face flat on the ground so she placed his face in her hands and whispered, “Alex…”
“I’ll leave you two alone,” Tess said but her eyes were black. She was no longer Tess.

“So, are you going to tell me everything?” Maria asked. She was now back in her original form thanks to Larek and his powers…well he used Brodie’s 90 precent of the brain that he never used to change Maria’s appearance back to her original form.
“What do you want to know,” Larek said as his eyes scanned through the crowds littering around the carnival. The air smelt like popcorn, fairy floss and beer.
“What’s been going these past four months?”
“That’s a hard question to answer…a lot of things have happened in the past four months..” Larek sighed.
“Okay…the abridged version..” however, Maria had the feeling that his explanation was anything but the abridged version.

“King Xenoliths, Max’s ancestor was a good king when he gained control of the throne; probably around the same time when the pyramids were first built in Egypt. The Gods of the sands of time gave a prophecy that a messiah, the son of the sired who controls time will save Antar and unite the galaxy. Xenoliths ordered his chief squire to write down what the prophecy said. Before anyone knew about the prophecy a magi called Shijaju, a rebel from the east, murdered the King. So, the squires erased all proof of the prophecy and wrote a false one to protect what ever the message was. There are many stories about this so called prophecy that are believed by many and others believe it to be a myth.”
“I am soooo not following you,”

“DO you believe in God?” Larek asked.
“What? What’s that supposed to mean?” Maria seemed taken aback. When did this conversation get religious?
“Well, do you?” Larek said.
“I guess so but I’m not the religious type..” Maria waved her hands in the air. She wasn’t sure, yeah, she believed in a higher power but ever since the alien abyss Maria tended to doubt everything.
“There are some people who believe in God and others do not…There are many gods that are worshiped on Earth, which one is right?” Now that was a loaded question, Maria thought.
“I dunno.” shrugging her shoulders.
“It’s the same deal with Charn. There are so many myths and stories surrounding the coming of Charn, too many …..Which one is true?”
“Which one do people mostly believe in?” Maria asked as they passed the ring toss stand.
“That Charn will end the world,”
“WHAT!” Maria gawked, her scream was so loud that it caused a few looks. Larek lowered his head, looped his arm around her shoulder and lead her away from any on lookers, making it seem that they were dating.
Larek looked over his shoulder before continuing his previous explanation.
“But don’t worry only a select few, including myself know the actual prophecy. Charn is not here to destroy the world but our enemies in the universe. Here’s here to destroy Kivar and his truant rule over the ashure galaxy. As long Kivar is under the impression that Charn is ending the world and not him he will not harm Charn otherwise Li-Havana could be in danger.”

“Havana?”
“The prophecy says that a fallen king form the golden age and his sire will bring forth a child that will untie our universes together. His sired was thought to be Ava…or Tess since that Max was a fallen king and Tess was his queen to be but ……my advisor who recently came from a summit meeting told me that when Zan’s mother created the royal four there was an anomaly with Havana and her human prototype. Each alien had two human subjects that were tested to see if they DNA could hybridise…or as you call hybridisation. In Tess’s case…subject A created Tess and aver while subject B created Liz, one hundred percent human but had the potential to become Havana…a hybrid. All three were sent with the potential to become queen and max chose Liz… now Ava and Tess will die because there is no need for back up since the queen is chosen and is with child,”

“…. Okay. So my best friend is really this Havana chic and is destined to be with Max. Liz is pregnant with a saviour called Charn and will destroy Kivar”
“Yes…”
“Ha…. In your face Tess!”
Larek didn’t know how to react when a human is overjoyed over someone else anguish so he simply smiled and guided Maria into the mirror maze.
In the distance Kivar, in the form of Tess appeared form behind the curtains. Tess smiled and began walking towards the mirror maze.

Chapter 30

“Where do you think you’re going?” Kal asked as Liz ascended upstairs.
“I’m going to get Maria,” Liz replied as she placed one foot in front of the other. “Be back in ten,” Liz’s jaw was tight, her voice clenched as her eyes burned with sleep. Liz felt a wave of dizziness consume her but she vigorously shook herself. Sleep is not what she needed right now.
“You shouldn’t go alone,” Kal said.
“That’s hasn’t stopped me before,” Liz replied.
“At least have Serena with you,”
“Ah…uh…alright if it make you happy,”

“Larek?” Maria called, turning her head to look back down the dark corridor. The walls were painted black. The room was filled with a labyrinth of tall narrow mirrors: it was an optical illusion and all Maria had to do is find the right archways that lead to the other side. Rows of disco balls littered the ceiling and reflected its rainbow beams on the floor, bathing Maria occasionally in an array of bright colours.
Maria was by herself as she lost herself in the corridors of the mirror maze, ignoring her fuzzy reflections from alternate angles.

Crack!

The sound of glass crushing underneath her foot interrupted Maria’s reverie. Maria looked down and found a trail of shattered glass and Brodie’s body slumped awkwardly in the corner. His legs were sprawled ninety degrees apart; each leg had swealing from the joints. From what Maria could tell, his legs had been pulled from each socket. Each arms lay limp against the glass cinders, tiny red specks covered his red welts on each wrist. His head bowed, red blood dripped from the abrasion on his forehead. He was bleeding and knocked out cold.

“Don’t worry about him, Maria,” the chilling voice whispered. Maria looked upwards and saw the reflection of Tess in the wall of Mirrors. She was holding a wooden pole with a large scythe attached with the words carnival woodchop contest in bright blue colours. “He was just the warm up,” Tess’s hands tightened on the axe, “Bon voyage,” She cackled a witches cry and began limping towards her from every angle. Which one was the real image of Tess limping towards her? Maria breathing quickened and dashed to the side, her arms sliding across the glass surface to find a secret hallway of any kind.
_

“Do you know how to get there?” Liz asked Serena as she hopped into Max’s jeep. Serena nodded,
“Piece of Cake,” Turned on the ignition, gunned the engine and drove off onto the main road. Liz couldn’t help but feel on edge, something was wrong? Like a sick feeling in her gut she knew something bad was about to happen. But what? She didn’t know…
“Morning sickness?” Serena asked as she sped up on highway 12. The wind was boring down across Liz’s face, fanning her heated skin and streaming her chocolate brown hair behind her.
Serena right hand as she changed gears lightly touched Liz’s arm in a comfortable gesture but Liz saw white. Lightening flashed across her eyes for a millisecond, and yet it seemed to stretch on forever.

A young girl, no older than six or seven years old was covered in blue gel, it stuck to her like cobwebs and yet she didn’t know where she was. Her father was gone, and her mother died before she was conceived. Her mattered long dark hair stuck to her skin but her eyes were a sheer silver grey cobalt, and oddly familiar.
Then just as Liz was registering a young girl sounded in her own foetus glow the girl was now seventeen years old, dressed in a long black dress wearing a long silver chain around her neck with a round flat circle; a symbol had been engraved. The symbol looked like a fish hook with a single triangle dot inside the hook’s arch. Her hair was soft and a dark brown, almost coppery, like black coffee. Milk white skin like a china doll and eerie silver blue eyes. Eve…. her name was Eve.

“Eve…”the young woman’s name exploded in her mind and she was rudely awoken by Serena, her hands shaking her shoulders roughly. Once Liz felt her eyes fall back in place and the momentary blur passed she stared at Serena’s clueless expression, her red fiery hair billowed around her shoulders.
“Who the hell was Eve?” Serena raised her eyebrow.
“I don’t know but someone important, I don’t know. I just saw this child she looked so innocent then I saw her much. much…older…alone…regal.” and I felt…hatred for …me…and….our group. Liz finished silently. Why would she touch Serena and receive a vision like that?
Serena’s blue silvery eyes looked at Liz and she inwardly shivered on how uncanny Serena’s appearance reminded her of Eve.
“Look, first, we save Maria then we’ll talk. Obviously you receive visions for a reason. Whatever you feel…don’t take it for granted okay…” Serena continued speeding down the hallway until they parked at the back entrance to the carnival. It was deserted now, but Liz could feel herself crumble as she walked towards the mind maze. She could still see the girls face in her mind. Liz got the feeling Eve wasn’t here yet but Eve is going to be trouble.
__
The smell of menstruation blood was thick in the air, like rotten eggs festering in their own bacterial juices. Maria relied on her nose to sense when Tess was near. She knew for a fact that if Tess found her she would be killed. Slowly, Maria crept through the maze but it was hard to sneak your way through a maze when mirrors acted as doors and walls for both Maria and Tess. Maria knew that Brodie lay limp somewhere, and by now Larek had abandoned his body and she prayed that Brodie would be okay, he was, after all, collateral damage in this alien abyss mayhem Maria called life. Keeping her breaths calm Maria looked both ways but she didn’t see Tess, even though her menacing skeleton shell was reflected like wallpaper on every mirror. She seemed to be having an internal battle with herself, her legs were thin as chopsticks and Maria could make out the fine contours of her thighbones, poking through her skin.

Maria pressed her body against the corner and saw a dark cut off point a few feet away from the fork in the labyrinth. She was home free. Maria slowly got up from the floor only to be inches from Tess- a large cold metal froze through her gut and she couldn’t register anything but the feeling of cold silver lodged inside her flesh.
“You lose,” The scythe sliced upward and wrenched outwards in one long fluid movement as Maria’s body jolted as the scythe left her body. Maria slid down the mirror wall, leaving a blood trail in its wake. Tess smiled and with her bare foot slid across Maria’s thigh, Tess’s face broke into an inhumane smile at the sight of Maria’s paling flesh, bringing out a white napkin Tess wiped Maria’s blood off her praised weapon.
“I’ve seen too much blood today, Ma chéri,” Tess’s voice was low and throaty but hidden behind that was a man hell-bent on torture. Suddenly Tess’s head turned to her left, her red damp curls brushed against Maria’s shoulder. He sensed Liz entering the mirror maze; “Your friends are here,” Tess’s tongue poked out and slicked the left side of Maria’s frozen cheek. “This is going to be fun, Ma chéri”
__

The floorboard creaked, and moaned as Liz’s feet trudged up the narrow staircase into the labyrinth.
Eve’s face was edged in Liz’s mind. Her small drawn face, grim poised red lips, Her flaxen features and high cheekbones highlighting her silver eyes that held a sparkle of darkness.
The soft scuff of her shoes touching the asphalt floor gave Liz mild comfort as her stomach began to churn as images continued to explode inside her mind
.
The smell of blood was choking her lungs, making her want to gag.
Liz could sense Maria’s presence, and it was quickly fading. Staring at her reflection in the mirror she placed her hand against the flat surface and it rippled underneath her touch, making a shortcut to Maria’s limp body that Liz could now see with her own two eyes. Her heart nearly stopped beating and she quickly stampeded down the corridor, ignoring Serena and the shifty figure hovering over Maria, Liz cried.
“ Maria…MARIA…MARIA!!!!!”

_
He was bathed in blue light, his breathing harsh and raspy as he felt his body drift further and further into the sands of time. He felt his feet touch the ground through the soles of his army boots. Scratching his longish dark hair, his amber eyes scoped Kivar’s complex: an abandoned factory outside Roswell New Mexico.

It worked, he almost laughed out loud. He had to find Isabel and Ava before time was altered.
Giving himself an inwardly shake he placed the granolith crystal in his right pocket and began slinking through the corridors, looking left and right.

It was a dim hallway from an abandoned soap factory that had been decorated with pillars of candlesticks burning brightly but giving off dim light. Remember what mom said, he thought. Never alter time unless it is vital, which was ironic because he was sent to make sure everything happen exactly the way it happened, despite the possible chance of stopping Eve’s creation. Sometimes you have to do what must be done despite what you want to do.
_ _ _ _ _ _
Isabel held Alex’ limp body close to her warm flesh, in hopes of keeping him alive long enough for Max to arrive and heal him. Three guards stood by the door with their glowing hands, ready to blast if she moved a muscle.

The middle guard was the first one to howl-his teeth clenched and eyes shut, he grasped his throat as something burned it, turning it to ash and his body quivered as flames exploded from inside him, turning his flesh into charcoal. The other two followed suit, bursting into flames and howling as their flesh was slowly charred and their organs roasted to death. A boy, around the age of nineteen walked in with a glowing outstretched hand.

“ Who the hell are you?” Isabel asked. He looked oddly familiar. He was 5”11 with a middle build, longish black-copper brown bangs and amber eyes.
The boy smiled creepily it unnerved her as power flowed through his veins, absolute power and unlike power she ever felt from anyone.
“ I’m your night in shining armour,” His sense of humour reminded her of Kyle. He held out his strong warrior like, and yet gentle healing hand and she felt her body standing up without her even moving a muscle.

“We don’t have much time,” He urged. Grabbing her by the shoulders he shoved her out of the door, Alex’s body was limp and cold on the ground. Abandoned once again. No, she wouldn’t leave him. Isabel stood there, facing the wall until she felt something prickle her neck and she was walking, sprinting along with him. Her body felt slimly as invisible hands and voices told her what to do.

“I’m sorry Au-Izzy…”The boy said. “It has to be done. I need to save Ava,”
He then said after a beat, “My name is Charles Alexis and I’ve been sent 19 years from the future to help you and Ava escape,”
“What about Alex?” She wanted to turn and look at him but something or something had a pulse on her, forcing her to look dead ahead and walked stealthy around the complex.

“He is none of our concern,” Charles replied, his voice turned cold.
“Bullshit he is…he’s need medical attention,” Isabel fought against the electrically current that flowed throughout her body but like a virus it fried her train of thought and forced her to turn left. She could feel Ava’s presence, stronger now and Alex’s soul was slowly leaving her.
Charles amber golden eyes fixed on her and she felt her mouth closing up.

“Enough talking. We need Ava, she’s crucial to everyone’s survival,”
Isabel’s eyes blinked. “Okay,” her voice replied, it was a dull and monotonic as if it was forced. A familiar smile, a smile Isabel knew she had seen somewhere was on Charlie’s face. However, Isabel couldn’t feel anything, she had only one objective: Find Ava.

Chapter 31

Her friend lay deathly still slumped against the wall, saturated in her blood.
“No...Nononono” Liz chocked out. Maria wasn’t dead. She WAS NOT DEAD.
“Nice that you can join us reverend mother,” Tess spat. However, Liz knew that despite the words spurring from her cracked lips. It was Kivar, not Tess whom she was speaking to.
Liz hovered over Maria’s still body and placed a fluttering hand on her wound, fleeing the blood seeping past her fingers and trickle down her forearm. No, she wasn’t going to let this happen. She felt heat began to build up around her hand and she focused on making a connection with Maria.

“Maria, you have to look at me, please,” She stared at Maria’s half open glazed eyes and prayed for a flicker of recognition-a sign of life beating inside her best friend. She saw a small glint, no bigger than an atom.
She felt her energy pouring into Maria as images of their childhood flashed before her eyes. Went it was over Liz felt drained, hot and bothered but as she looked at Maria she nearly doubled over. There, instead of the fatal wound was Liz’s handprints glowing handprints. She healed Maria.

“ I feel like shit,” Maria cried, slowing becoming alert. Liz was too overjoyed and fiercely hugged her friend. It was two seconds after when she realised that it was deafly quiet. Liz looked up to find that she was alone with Maria. Serena was missing, and so was Kivar.
Liz’s phone interrupted her revive.
“Did you find her,” It was Kal.
“Yeah but I’m afraid we have some bad news.” Liz stared at her friend, Maria, still coming to terms of her near death experience but Liz couldn’t shake off the feeling of Armageddon. “Serena has been kidnapped,”

-

“Why would Kivar kidnap Serena?” Maria asked as she pulled her jacket closer to her body. Her healing experience was a secret for now. She didn’t know how Liz did it considering it was Max’s power. She knew that Liz had some theories but she was too whacked with guilt over losing Serena to Kivar to mull over the possibilities.
“Her family has knowledge of genetics but I’m not too sure of Kivar’s plan,” Kal answered. “However I do know that its time to leave Roswell. As soon as possible. Your lives are in danger and it’s no longer safe for Liz to stay in Roswell with Kivar running around,”
“What about Isabel?” Kyle asked.
“First we shall get you to safety, and then save Isabel. At this moment the only important thing is protecting Charn until it is time for his birth,”

He was tall and angelic in appearance. His aura pulsated with power. His face was ashen and his eyes were a dark brown, almost obsidian. His longish curled ruffled brown hair lightly grazed his bare shoulders, framing his alluring siren face and fanning his fine chiselled abbs. His long velvet shawl was wrapped around his hips with a black belt supporting it. Leather black shoots touched the marble tiled floor and Serena couldn’t move. She was lying on an operating table and yet his presence kept her there. He was pure perfection.

“Your mind was interesting,” His voice was different, ghostly eerie and yet was rich in a mysterious accent she couldn’t put her finger on. His fingers were long and slender with glasslike fingernails. He touched her cheek and it was cold as death. She tried to scream but she remained emotionless like someone was forcing her to remain still. What is going on?

“The dark side is always seductive ma cherie. However, you have something of value,” His eyes travelled down to her stomach and roamed around her venerable body. What value do I have? Serena thought. Many….she suddenly realised. She has many secrets that her enemies would kill for.

And yet there was something about him-that certain spark that caused a flutter in her rapidly beating heart. Sweat began to bead underneath her arms and legs. His face roamed over her as his left hand traced her arched eyebrows, brushing a few loose strands away from her silver blue eyes.

“You have such beautiful eyes…” His hand was like a dark curtain-turning light to dark and covering her face, unleashing hell inside her mind.

Charlie looked down at Isabel’s sleeping form. They managed to escape with Ava and now were residing inside the pod chamber for shelter.

Breathe in and breathe out. Kyle used to say.

Charlie let go of all his worries, his concern for his parents, his fear of Eve, his love for Asha. His fear of the future, and responsibly of being the chosen one.

Calm down Anikan Skywalker…he could hear Asha’s sweet voice in his mind. He savoured the memory and prayed to God that his presence in this timeline would not alter the future.

He turned to Ava’s prone form. She looked like hell. Her body was reduced to a shell that once was Ava. Her pink short hair had faded and was a muddy red, mattered by blood from her head abrasions and superficial wounds. Her arms had thousands of pierced marks form where they drew blood and her skin was a pasty lime green. She looked terminal. Charlie knew that he was supposed to heal her but the prospect of actually healing her—he wasn’t sure, with his inexperienced ability to use his powers. Was it possible?

Crouching over her limp body, drenched in dried blood and unknown chemicals the scientists used on her he placed his hands over her. The five healing stones were a crown of jewels around her head. He knew where his father hid them before he made the trip. He will need these stones to amplify his power into to heal her on this magnitude. He closed his eyes and let his mind go---looking for a door into Ava’s unconscious mind. A map appeared before him. It was a map of Ava’s physiology and the yellow haze was the alien Aids virus. The yellow haze was attacking the green cells inside her body—her alien cells while her red blood cells were unharmed and intact.

You can do this, he coached himself. She must survive. Here was the conundrum. The virus was genetically coded inside her. The only way to cure her was the flip the switch. This meant, killing her and then reviving her. It was the only way to flush out her old alien self—she was half human and the scientists reassured him before his slide that this solution is one hundred percent effective.

I’m sorry Ava, Charlie whispered. He beamed his energy around her slow beating heart and stopped the engine. If he thought about this like he was flipping a switch on---he would feel less inhumane.

Her heart was beating again and all signs of alien cells were gone. Charlie scanned her double helix and noticed, just as the scientist have predicted that there were a few modifications and within two years her powers would return but she would forever be, human. That was of no concern, she was alive and that what mattered. The world is saved.

Charlie rooted through his knapsack he managed to take with him through the gateway. He pulled out a clear cube with golden symbols covering the surface in an eerie golden glow, a small glowing image of the orb symbol hovered in the centre. The pandai was created before he left. He knew that he didn’t have much time left in this timeline. He still had a lot to accomplish if he wanted to return home.

Kivar knew that Serena felt light headed, like she was floating against the warm of soft billowing clouds. She was swimming in the drugs he injected. He felt the walls close around him. Charn, Zan’s son was now deemed a threat to everything he held dear in this world. His beloved Vilandra left him moments ago, along with Ava.

Serena’s body amazed him and he was itching to touch her. He knew that he could not. It was too late for him now but maybe, there were some hope still left.

Commander Quinn was flanked beside him. “What do you want me to do with Tess and Alex?” his gruffly voice with thick his an Irish twang
“Bring the bodies of Tess and Alex into operation room 2D. A team of scientists are waiting,” he then added. “And bring those two dead shape shifter bounty hunters I exterminated earlier along with them.” His dark eyes roamed around the vacant room, watching as Serena was slowly tousling in her sleep. If only things could have been different, his heart was heavy. Kivar knew that Serena would never be his queen of his galactic Empire.

“So this Charn prophecy was a hoax?” The cold sensual voice shattered Serena’s equilibrium. “He is destined to be the end of me. The end of a galactic empire that for decades would fall as Charn ascends to power with his human bride, bridging the gap between our worlds and other’s alike outside the world wind galaxy?” He didn’t know what else to say.

Instead he watched as her face gave him the truth. Charn would be the end of him. Clutching the vial in his right hand, he felt the glass warm up. He walked towards her as the fluorescent lights hovering around her body, bathing her in blood light. Her red tousled curls he itched to touch now were a brilliant violet underneath the blue light.

Attentively, Kivar’s hand slid across her belly and gently made cooing sounds, hushing her still and his deep slow circles around her stomach calmed her, warmed her as his eyes roamed over her.

Serena paled, everything stood in place. She knows who I am. This is my body, my Ra body, Kivar mused. There was no turning back. He had to make sure that his reign on this world remained that way forever.

“Your thoughts have told me many things.” He whispered. Things about genetic cloning, and the truth about Charn. “My only solution is to take over to Earth, harness it.” Kivar knew that if he had Earth the royals would give up their fight and the throne would be his. “I will bring down the only city that is loyal to the royals. Magnikartrya will fall and so shall Earth.” Kivar smiled. “But Earth’s fate will not arrive for the next eighteen years.” He slowly raised the vial that was burning underneath his touch, raising it high in the air so she could see her grim fate that she chose.

“What do you me—“ Serena’s breathing hitched once she realised what he was about to do. Kivar picked up a test tube, burning red from his glowing hand and he slammed down on her stomach. He knew fair well that he was preventing her from screaming but his hand focused on removing something vital to his survival, and his reign on the galaxy.
Kivar pulled his hand away, clutching the vial in his hand he looked closer at his only hope of defeating Charn, a fail safe. Serena’s body was limp from his scorched handprint marred into her chest.

He felt someone entered the room. He was tall and of medium build with blonde hair and snake like eyes.
“Doctor,” Kivar said as he turned, feeling a sudden chill emit from the doctor as he walked in with his team of genetic scientists. The doctor was afraid of him.
So he should be, Kivar thought.

Kivar looked upon an adjacent operating table a few metres away. A small hollow dome lay on the table. He handed Serena’s ovaries to the doctor. He didn’t bother to look at him, as no one will be alive after this creation of Eve, his daughter and salvation.

Chapter 32

Ava opened her eyes. Her vision was hazy and when she tried using her powers…nothing happened.
“You’re still a bit weak,” a heavenly voice whispered. “Don’t try and do anything brash,”
Ava looked upon a man around her age with dark bangs, almost copper like with amber eyes. His presence was soothing and his powers were absolute. His skin was ashen and seemed to glow with inner moon light.
“My name is Charlies Alexis,” He feverishly whispered, Ava’s heart sank. Never in her life has she met someone with a voice that carried such resonance and passion. Charles was a man that women dream of being with. “……and I have been sent here to save you,” He then added, “But you know me as Charn.”
“Charn,” Ava gulped, all her previous thoughts were dumped outside the window. Her stomach squeezed as a thin cord of bile seared her insides. How can this heavenly creature be Charn? She struggled to sit up but his strong arms helped her sit against the cool limestone walls. His hands were warm and soft like butter milk seeping into her skin. Ava stared into his golden flecks that seemed to flare bronze every time he blinked. “You’re...” Ava could see the familiarity of his fine features she saw in Liz, and in Zan, Max Evans…Ava corrected.
“Yeah, my parents are Max and Liz,” He sheepishly smiled but then he shook himself out of it, “Look, we…I don’t have much time. I came here to tell you something before I leave. This must be done Ava, to the second. Or else my future will not exist.” He placed a clear cube with golden symbols engraved with gold on its surface and the orb symbol hovering in the middle.

“Is that what I think it is,” Ava was afraid to touch the box. Fear spiked her heart. That box was hell itself.
“It’s a pandai Ava.” Charn replied. “A very powerful one,” he added.
“What…why must you bring this...” Ava gestured to the blue box that was resting on her lap.

“ You know what a pandai is?” His eyebrows rose and Ava could feel his smile in her bones. His smile warmed her heart. “I’m impressed…”
“Of course I know what it is!”Ava rolled her eyes, “But why must you bring that here?”
“September 10. At dawn Ava. You must unlock this pandai,”
“What?”

“It is essential that you do this Ava. You are its keeper. You alone must unlock this at this time and date,” handing her a piece of paper.
“Give me one good reason...”Ava replied, crossing her arms.
“I have plenty,” Charn replied, and began to tell her those reasons why.

Liz awoke abruptly and kicked Maria in the shoulder as her hands clasped around her face. Serena was dead. She felt her screams chill her bones.
“Hey watch it,” Maria groaned, she turned to the sleeping forms of Michael, Kyle and Max. She peaked at the blue silver handprint glowing around her stomach and chest. She turned to Liz.
“I never got the chance to say thanks,” Maria whispered to her best friend. They were on a charted flight to the chech republic. A private jet, in fact, Liz thought as she saw Kal read over the reader’s digest.
Liz smiled briefly; her mind was jumbled as she was wracked with grief. “It’s okay Maria. It wasn’t me thought. It was.”
“Your son?” Maria pointed to her swollen belly. Liz rubbed her pregnant belly.

“There’s no need to hide it,” She offered Maria small smile but she didn’t feel like smiling. She felt cold, alone, and guilty. Max was still comatose.
Her face fell though, coldness wrapped around her heart as she continued to stroke her swollen bell
y.
Images flashed before her eyes.

A woman with long dark hair and silver blue eyes, her hands covered in blood and outstretched. Death filled the room. Her eyes brimmed with tears and hot boiled hatred was aim at her. No, Liz realised. At her son. Her son, she repeated.

A man appeared in her next vision. He was 5”11 with a middle build and longish black-copper brown bangs and amber eyes. His stance was regal like but his eyes held infinite unknown terrors. She felt fear, and guilt at the road ahead.

Liz’s eyes snapped open. Looking at her watch Liz realised that only five minutes had passed. She rubbed her eyes and winced as the searing pain in her lower back increased. Liz desperately needed Max. These visions were taking its toll. If indeed, they were visions of the future then Liz was unsure of what to do next.
“We should be arriving in Prague in five minutes. A limo will be standing by to take us to the check-point to open the gateway,”
_ _ _ _ __
Magnikartrya, Kivar thought.Or..Magnai…as it’s commonly known to the world was the last city loyal to the royal four, and the last rebel base against Kivar’s Galactic Empire.
“At sunset,” Kivar gestured to the hologram map of the Czech-republic, a small red dot was hovering towards Prague. “Magnai will fall,”
___ _ _ __ _ _ _
Charn looked over at Ava and listened to the sounds of Isabel’s breathing. He had told her everything. Everything about himself, his parents, his life, and Eve, Kivar’s daughter. He told Ava her role in his life and the importance of the pandai. Everything except one thing, which he knew if he told her...Ava wouldn’t go through with it.

He thought about Asha. His beloved Asha. He wished she was right here, right now. He certainly could use her in a time like this. He looked at his watch. He needed to get moving. He still had things to do before he had to leave.

Charn handed Ava the pandai and placed his arm around her shoulder. It was the first and only time he would meet her. The next time he would hear about her was when he was eighteen, by then, she would already be dead.

However, there was no need to tell her this.
Closing his eyes….he grabbed onto Isabel sleeping form and focused on Magnai, using the memory his mother had given him he focused on the tall blue needle meadows and the tall mountain ridges and towering water falls. He thought about the three moon silver sky and the stars winking at him. He felt himself getting thinner...
I am the wind…Charn thought as he vanished with Ava and Isabel into a burst of black smoke.

When he opened his eyes he was leaning against a towering willow tree with drooping black ash leaves. Leaves surrounded the trio and Isabel was still asleep.

“She won’t remember anything.” Charn told Ava as they stood up together, looking over at Isabel prone form he added. “Tell her a group of rebels helped you escape and died in the act. Remember what I’ve told you about Alex—“

“You do realise that it was cruel to leave him there in the first place—“
“Believe me If we did anything remotely to save Alex then I wouldn’t exist Ava,” He eyed her and added, “Neither would you,” He gazed down at his Aunt still asleep underneath the ash tree.

I’m sorry, He whispered to Isabel. These next eighteen years will bring you pain. Charn knew that what would become of Alex and he choose not to think about that. He knew that this was hard on him and his parents when they sent him back through time. “The others will be here in an hour.” Charn finished his sentence and turned his back on Isabel. He couldn’t look at his Aunty anymore without thinking about Alex. Instead, He grabbed Ava by the shoulders and stared down at her. “Tell them nothing!” He cupped her cheeks as he said this, he couldn’t help himself. She was beautiful flower amongst the weeds and she was the one who protected him for eighteen years. “Say…”Charn struggled for thoughts. What should he say in a time like this? “… that you found a cure for yourself...that you’re human..” Oh, that was convincing, Charn thought. Ava miraculously found a cure for her alien Aids virus.

“I’m what..?” Ava stuttered and diverted her teary eyes to her frail form. She seemed to become paler than before, almost ill like as the concept of being a human being was degrading.

“Don’t worry,” Charn smiled. “Since I’ve healed you. Your old powers will return...”He couldn’t help but trace his fingertips across her pieced eyebrow. She was indeed beautiful and could understand why his father liked the other one.

“I know that I’m rushing things….”He added, still tracing the fine contours of her face and implanting them to detail. “ I’m not use to this sort of thing,” He grinned despite the serious situation they were both in. His eyes staring down at her beautiful face, he pulled her closer, kicking himself as he kiss her forehead, his lips trembling. He wished things were different for Ava but unfortunately he had very little time left. Thank you, Charn thought as he looked down at Ava. Thank you for the next eighteen years.

“Remember what I’ve said Ava. Stay close to Liz. Protect her and you’ll know when the time is right to unlock the pandai,” He turned on his side to reveal a small scar just below his left ear, a scar that lay hidden underneath his dark hair. Ava nodded, she understood what that scar had meant.

Charn stood back, closed his eyes and thought of the pod chamber, the cold damp dim cave mouth and felt the ground leaving his feet as he disappeared in a burst of whispery black smoke.

Chapter 33

August 31st 2002 10:30am—eight and a half hours until battle.
Roswell New Mexico

It’s hard to believe that over a year ago I looked like this,

Charn thought as he looked upon a dilapidated photo of him and Asha. Despite its torn charcoaled edges and coffee stains in the bottom left hand corner the tell tale vibrant blue lightening streak through his short punk shabby locks could still be seen. His pale ill-stricken face was caked with heavy dark eye shadow and grey eyeliner. His lips were red with berry lipstick, always smudged from his constant cigarettes lodge in his mouth. His piercing glowing studs through his ears, left eyebrow and his chin shone like silver. His black shades rested on the hem of his black mesh shirt with a charcoaled stain white sweatshirt underneath.

Asha, on the other hand, remained vibrant as he could remember. Her long cocoa brown hair, forever wild and unruly curled from years of having her hair groomed and styled in a variation of hair styles. Her brandy-brown eyes seemed to shine and take over the focal point of the picture. Her skin was soft and a creamy sandy-beach colour. He loved seeping his hands into her skin.

An involuntarily smiled appeared on his face as his eyes shone with love as he thought about her. She was the constant, the heartbeat of his life. Even with the constant brutal beatings, the isolation and ridicule from others, and the occasional drugs. She always saw him as a strong and brave young man. She never saw him as some, homosexual punk freak.
His wrist watched beeped, reminding him of the limited time he had left until he had to re-enter the granilith chamber and slide forward to his time.

He placed the photo in his back pocket and carried the heavy white box into Joey’s 24-7 safe-deposit depot. Placing the box carefully onto the wooden bench, he waited until a short balding man with a stubble chin waddled like a penguin to the front desk
.
“Whadda have ‘ere,” The clerk named Sam asked.
Charn replied, curtly, “It’s a package for my son,” He tried to not smile and think of the irony of the situation. Looking upon the same package he was given on his eighteenth birthday. “I want this to be delivered to him,” Charn added, “as a birthday gift,”

Sam eyed the box cautiously, “What’s inni there?” pointing his pastry hands at the sealed white box.
“A few archaeological artefacts that have been in my family for generations,” Charn lied, “When my son turns eighteen I want him to have these objects as a remainder of his … father’s heritage..—and that---”
“Alright, right-o,"Sam interrupted, "Who’s it for then, the date and address,” Sam replied, his brown chocolate eyes rolled in its sockets, he was obviously frustrated and wished it was quitting time.
“September 10th 2020. Address to Charles Alexis Evans at this address,” Charn placed his address on the front counter. He always wondered who gave him this package when he first stumbled on it the day of the shooting. Charn also realised that his eighteenth birthday was the cataylst for when everything started to spiral out of contorl.

Czech-republic. Around the same time.

The plane had landed. Max and Michael were moved with caution. Liz didn’t dare look into Max’s vacant eyes. She had to remain strong. Maria was with her, as they held each other’s hands, they sat there, staring at the foreign countryside blurring past. Not bothering to soak in the raw green detail of the Czech countryside, instead they focused on each other for their comfort. Kyle was riding shotgun and was quietly speaking to Kal, who was busily driving the limo down the narrow dirt path.
“Do you think Isabel is okay?” Maria whispered, trying to hold back a sob.
“Yeah,” Liz replied. She felt guilty. All this time Liz was worrying about her visions about Eve, herself and Serena that she almost forgot that Isabel has been kidnapped and in Kivar’s clutches; grief hit her like a lethal gunshot wound.

“Your majesty,” Kal said, as he swivelled off the dirt path, stones clattered like drop sticks, pattering underneath the car.
Liz cringed. “What is it Kal,” She snapped. She didn’t like being called your majesty or your highness. Her new status hadn’t quite grown on her yet.

“We have arrived at the check point,” The car had stopped outside a small grass field. The door was opened for her and Maria helped her out, as her pregnant belly was visible to everyone, Her friends realised that her situation was suddenly more real than before. Kyle was leaning against the limo, staring up at the clear blue sky.

The limo was parked on a dirt road long forgotten. It stretched for miles and on each side of the road a wooden picket fence stood. Some of the panels had been rotted away or eroded with weeds growing from the stake’s base, which stood a metre apart from each other and was the same distance that separated each stake for miles.

Kal escorted Liz and Maria through a rusted wire fence that had been broken a long time ago. Kyle followed close behind.
“Well this isn’t Kansas,” Maria mumbled, taking in their surroundings. There was no living soul for miles “I don’t see anything,”
“I do,” Liz suddenly realised. It was hard to see at first by a metre away from where she and Maria stood was a small metallic crop circle. As Liz headed closer she saw golden symbols surrounding the outside. Each symbol was inside a small box. It looked like a chessboard but shaped in a circle and every box contained a unique symbol. The only square that contained for symbols was in the middle. Kal stopped just as they reached the outside of the circle base.

“Only Antarians can see what you see Liz. While Maria, Kyle and I stay here. You move to the centre of the circle.”
Liz did as she was told and walked to the centre of the circle. “Unfortunately since his highness is currently inactive we can’t freely go to and fro in between the gateway like he can…however..there is another way and if you follow my instruction we shall have the doorway open in no time,”

“Stretch your arms to the sky,” Kal instructed.
Liz stretched her arms and arched her back to the clear blue sky. The sun’s golden blaze touched her skin and sent shivers down her spine.
Liz watched as the squares started to move. She heard the stones slowly lift the ground with a loud lurch a symphony of sounds filled her ears. The stones swirled around her, her hair continually whipped against her face as she was suddenly engulfed in a tornado created by the swirling stones glowing with cobalt light.

“Now repeat my words…as you say each word you must touch the symbol" Kal yelled but his voice was hard to hear amongst the beautiful symphony created by the stones that swirled around her. Still holding her arms up in the air, Liz waited for him to start.
“Le Tot tu-lae,”

“Le tot tu-laaee,” Liz said and watched in amazement as a stone slab with a glowing symbol hovered towards her. The symbol was a triangle pointing upwards to a single circle.

“Va Trop Hi-laaee,” Kal said, and Liz repeated his words and a second symbol appeared before her. The symbol was covered in tiny dots but only six dots were lit. Its alien light blinded her before it too disappeared behind the howling dust tornado of glowing stones.

“Magnai-ont-ills tot-lee”

A third symbol appeared before her. It was remotely similar to the first symbol except this symbol contained three half moon shapes surrounding the triangle arrow pointing upwards instead of one. What did this symbol mean?

“ Onivarius!” Kal shouted and Liz repeated his words, “ Onivarius,” The three stones appeared before her once again and melted into one large slab a metre wide. The symbols continuously flashed at her as the ground beneath her felt thinner…and less dense.
Then darkness ….

Chapter 34

And then….

“ ..You could have at least warned us that a wormhole leading to an alien planet opened right beneath our feet!” Maria yelled… her voice interrupted Liz’s peace inside a dark world. She slowly opened her eyes and found herself to be underneath a warm cotton blanket.

“You wouldn’t have understood the complexity…” Kal yelled, he was standing on the opposite of Maria with Liz’s bed in-between them. Neither one of them noticing that Liz had awoken.

“Oh yeah,” Maria counted, crossing her arms, “Try me, you could have said..”
“Said what?” Kal barked, his sunglasses slowly riding down his nose. He used his right index finger to push them back in place.

“Well,” Maria drawled, pretending to think, “ how ‘bout… ‘In case you didn’t know there will be a wormhole that will be opening right underneath your feet in thirty seconds.” She mimicked the sound of an old British librarian. Every vowel was a harsh girly squeal while the rest was pronounced like she was chewing ice. “…….No need to panic…”Maria raved on. “….. as the only thing you’ll feel is darkness and the feeling of falling into an open CAVERN! How about that huh? Or you’d think that we poor lonely humans couldn’t possibly fathom the idea of a wormhole suddenly erupting in our midst?”

“Mars! Git it a rest,” Liz grumbled, breaking the silence. Kal glanced at her ill form and gave her a quick head bow. Meanwhile, Maria was still grumbling at Kal.

“Mars? Who are you calling Mars?” Her voice died down once she saw that Liz was awake, she gasped and covered her mouth with her trembling hands.

Liz looked down at the fur blanket that covered the entire king size Bed that Liz realised she had been placed into since silken lavender sheets covered her swollen body. Her clothes were changed as well, gone were her pair of worn Levi jeans and stained shirt. She felt cotton against her skin. She was wearing a long blue cotton kimono without a sash tied across her waist. Her baby was feverishly kicking and Liz winced, rubbing her belly with concern. Wait…is my belly suddenly as big as a whale or is it just me, Liz freaked inside.

“What happened?” Liz asked once Maria had finally calmed down and Kal looked less hostile towards her friend, Maria. Where were Max and Michael? Kyle??

“There is soo much to tell you Liz. You’ve been out for four hours! Its, like 2pm…” Maria gushed.

Liz turned to her protector. “Kal?” Hopefully he could give her a more detail explanation.

“Sorry your majesty-“
“Kal----” Liz glared. She didn’t want to be called “majesty” or “your highness”. She was still getting used to the idea of being pregnant, becoming a young mother. So, she didn’t want to worry about a whole planet who’ll perceive her as their Queen. But, Liz winced. She had hated that word. Sooner or later she would have to fess up and start living in the real world and come to terms with the fact of being half human and Max’s Queen. The latter part, Liz smiled when she thought about her future-husband, Max….Max? Liz’s felt her baby kick. Was Max okay?

“Liz-----” Kal stressed, “A wormhole opened underneath our feet as soon as you uttered the last word of the password. The words contain three parts, the sender, the destination, how many people and an Antarian phrase-we shall pass…”

“The password is changed every twenty-four hours by the password guards at sunset. Only the King has the power to go between these worlds….speaking of his highness.” His voice was dripping with sarcasm and distaste. “He’s awake and wants to see you once you’ve rested…he’s still being reunited with his sister, and Michael and Ava,”

“ Ava???” Liz breathed. How did she get here? How was she still alive?
“Yes, We are unsure how that happened, your highness but she bears no royal symbol. She mentioned about a cure that she created for herself but we are still investigating that theory.”
“And Kyle?”

“Kyle? Last time I checked he was in the museum.”
“Museum?”
“Yeah, its filled with acient artefacts and weapons used in the skin wars…”
“Skin wars?”

“The war Micahel and the other’s fought in their past lives…you should so see this pandai thing..its freaky..” Maria turned her gaze to Kal, “She can walk now..so there’s no reason for you to be hanging around…”

“Well, according to our calculations she is almost due…”
“What? But I’m a I’m…..I’m nearly five months….this cannot be…’
“Well according to your swealing belly—“
“I so not have a swealing baby..”Liz grumbled…
“------ and the prophecy pinpointing the time Charn will be born….it is…very soon,”

When he uttered the word prophecy she was reminded about the orb she and Max found, still nestled in her knapsack. Sooner or later they had to view it since it contained the true purpose of their son’s destiny.
“Well, I’m up for a little walk,” Liz said, seeing her friend squeal in delight Liz felt that Maria wanted her company, someone familiar in this…foreign place. Although, ever since she woke up she felt a sense of déjà vu….

These opaque walls, the oriental clothes and crimson tapestry and the air smelling of lilac and vanilla… Liz knew that outside the ground would be covered in luscious tall slim blue grass and willowing obsidian trees.

“I feel like seeing a few familiar faces,” Liz smiled at Maria, then told Kal, “ Ill see this Pandai…then I want to see Max,” Truth was, they hadn’t had any time together ever since the Isabel escapade and although she was happy that Isabel was back she felt a tad selfish that Max hadn't been there when she needed them the most…when they, Liz corrected, touching her belly she felt her child beam back at her through their mother-son connection.

Charn was protecting her and although she was grateful apart of her wanted the responsibility of protecting her son, like any other mother-to-be had…then again…Charn was special and unusual circumstances called for unusual methods…such as her un-born son having powers and the ability to protect his un-met mother from harm.

The main hallway was wide, flanked on both sides with large marble archways with large Middle Eastern gaping bay windows with crimson curtains tapering to the sides and covering half of the white marble floor. The feeling of openness greeted Liz as she was flanked by Kal and Maria. Each Hallway had a small room with people inside, mediating, sowing clothes or dancing in small circles wearing purple and blue sarongs. Their skin was ashen white and their hair ranged from all shades of the earth, black, brown and a few dark blondes and muddy reds.
However, Liz was still hazy and her surroundings didn’t matter to her now. Maybe later, she would take a detailed tour around the castle, maybe with Max. Liz liked that idea.

__
At the end of the hallway there was a fork in the road, a large blue wooden style door on the right and another large hallway to the left. Maria headed right with Liz and Kal closely behind and opened the door.

“You!” An old man dressed in a long brown robe with a large black sash tied to his waist yelled at Maria. The old man had long hair half tied back with streaks of grey and white. His bead touched the middle of his chest which had the royal emblem tattooed in red paint. The orb symbol.

As Liz veered into his view his expression changed, a growl became a soft whisper. “Your majesty…I-didn’t—realise…”
“It’s alright,” Liz replied as she felt a wave of recognition hit her. She knew this man… The name Yavis Siri-Tachi echoed in her mind. His name was Yavis Siri-Tachi.

He was the keeper of history and as a little girl she called him Master Siri-Tachi as he was also her weapon and combat instructor. But he was very young back then and she a little girl.

“Master,” She whispered, the old man gulped and as she looked into his brandy-brown eyes she felt a memory teetering back in recognition but nothing happened. “I knew you…”Liz added, she was Liz Parker again.
“And I you. My...my…you have grown up into an exceptional woman you majesty,”

Hhem-Hhem….a loud cough interrupted her revive and she realised that it was Maria, and Kal, standing beside her and looking at her strangely…more importantly Maria was ready say something Liz knew would be inappropriate at this time.

“My friend, Maria and my protector Kal wish to look at the Pandai?”
Yavis sighed, his eyes cluttered with an unknown sadness. “Are you sure your majesty---we have…other”

“I’m afraid not,” Liz politely interrupted him; “I want to know about the Pandai. Who knows Master---”She used the old name to add emphasis and to encourage him to agree, “In our current situation it might help us..”
“No, the pandai only brings pain and suffering,” he said and with that he began walking down the hallway. This one was narrow and only was wide enough to fit one person after another, not side by side. It was like a museum room back home.

There were medium sized pedestals around the rim and in the middle, with ancient objects resting on top. The tallest stool was in the middle and was surrounded by four earth-styled couches. On the tallest laid an empty clear box and a ceremonial dagger that looked more like a butterknife, lying snugly on a bed of silk. Tiny fairy lights covered the ceiling like the night sky, providing an intimate light, along with three pearl seashells, on each side of the room, beaming lights from their centre in a sea-wave arch also added more light to the room.

It was then, Liz realised that Kyle was sitting one of the brown coloured couches.
“KYLE!” Liz screeched and began heading towards him, however, she couldn’t run as fast as she wanted to anymore. However, Kyle ran to her and they both met in the middle, hugging tightly.
“Hey, you have a pregnant belly,” Kyle joked, his hand resting on her swollen belly.
“You’re awake!”
“Yeah….healing me took a lot out of Max ….”He seemed a little rough around the edges and his skin seemed thinner. His eyes turned back to the empty box resting on the pedestal. “I was just having a history lesson by Siri-Tachi over there…why are you here?”
“Well…I just woke up and Maria said I just had to look at this pandai...”
Kyle’s eyes sparkled. “Yeah it’s a great weapon but it’s too bad we can’t use it...”

Liz wrapped her arm around Kyle; her billowing cuffs almost touched the floor. “I’m in for a treat then..” somehow…learning about this pandai made her feel like she was on edge…as if what she was about to learn will effect her in some way.

Sitting on the couch facing the pedestal, alongside Kyle and Maria, who joined them as soon Kal and Yavis entered the room.
“This is a pandai,” Yavis pointed to the clear cube. “It’s inactive of course,” he added. “if it were active it would be glowing and golden symbols would be etched around the surface…” Yavis coughed briefly, feeling slightly uncomfortable as all eyes were trained on him. “But this device has been around since the sands of time…”

Sands of time…that’s that word again. Yavis caught her troubling gaze and explained, “The Sands of time is a myth about the creation of the Granilith your majesty. A very long and complicated myth…”
“Please, enlighten us,” Kyle spoke, his arm around Liz’s shoulders.
“King Xenoliths, Max’s ancestor was a good king when he gained control of the throne; probably around the same time when the pyramids were first built in Egypt.” Yavis drawled.

Maria groaned, “Not again,”
“….. The Gods of the sands of time gave a prophecy that a messiah, the son of the sired who controls time will save Antar and unite the galaxy...” He pointed to Liz’s swollen belly. “He’s name is Charn. The sands are time are..well..fate in a sense that they are spirits that have the power to alter time…to create alternate universes….they have the keys to opening alternative universes… Once King Xenoilth was murdered the sands of time…the keeper of destiny created a being in their own image to make sure that the destiny of Charn will take place. This being had the same capability that the fates had...”

“The Granilith…” Liz said, not knowing how she knew the answer to the question but as soon as Yavis said alter time she thought of Future Max.
“Correct, your majesty. The Granilith, and now here is the complicated part. The son of the sired who controls time….now we know that the sired was Zan’s chosen bride….she had the same powers as Ava once had…the ability to manipulate human thoughts…but also…given the power of foresight by the granilith.”

“How’s that possible?”
“Through the tests that each potential had to pass in order to be chosen as Queen,” Yavis answered, “ The final test… is when the potential is given a choice…”

Liz knew the answer before Yavis said it.

“The choice: Her happiness or…self sacrifice in order to save billions. we wanted a queen who will put her own life on hold for strangers…that skill and ability in such a leader is crucial. in order to pass that skill onto our future leader. We of course, do not want a selfish leader,”

“So, Future Max wasn't real?” Liz whispered, and Yavis nodded.

“The granilith used your memories and feelings to create the man you call “Future Max” and you passed. By passing the Granilith gives you, through Max…the seal of the Queen and the ultimate power…” Pointing to her son, “Only the royal seal of Antar can communicate and use the granilith but the granilith is still the Master and can choose not to
cooperate. However, once you’ve passed Liz and the royal seal was given to you...your child indirectly was given the ultimate power..”

“You really like saying the word ultimate,” Kyle whispered.
“The ability to control time itself…to have access to the same powers of the sands of time is a very powerful gift and responsibility, that is why the rightful queen had to be chosen so her beliefs and kindness shall be taught to her son and he shall not abuse it…”

“What…so Liz’s kid is like Neo and can do that entire Matrix stuff?” Kyle said, waving his hands in the air. Maria rolled her eyes,
“Oh bother…”

“What is this-Matrix..?” Yavis slurred, his eyes widened in confusion as he turned to Kal for help.
“Don’t worry Yavis…a Human thing” Kal assured the old man, “…and in answer to your question Kyle…yes and much more…you see…Charn is also pure-blood and only a pure-blood royals can receive the gift form the granilith according to the prophecy..”

“must be some long prophecy conceding every answer to my son is ‘ according to the scriptures which in actual fact….no one knows its entire translation…only fragments that some people choose to believe,” Liz didn’t realise she had spoken this out loud until utter silence greeted her. Kal briefly nodded, letting her know that what she said was true-which only strengthened the need to look at the message in the orb she and max found that contained the entire translation Max’s ancestor heard long ago…..

“So Liz’s child is one hundred percent alien?” Maria’s voice interrupted Liz’s thoughts and she caught her best friend’s gaze on her stomach as she said this, while her hands on her chest. Liz’s smile faulted. Charn healed Maria…what kind of changes will she experience…will she be connected to her son like she was with Max…or will it be like Kyle’s graduation transformation…minus the soul-deep connection?

The answer was beating inside her and somehow her son told her without words that Maria’s change will be like Kyle’s. Thanks goodness…

“Yes,” Kal said, in answer to Maria’s question, “he will be pure-blood.”
“ Although there is a chance of him being mixed blood,” Yavis rushed on after Kal answered Maria’s question, mumbling his inconsistent ramblings to himself before he stopped suddenly, sighed and continued on his spiel, “….according to our scriptures he is and will be pure-blood. It is also acceptable to say that Charn will not only possess the ability to alter time, to manipulate human thought and heal but he can also shape shift—making him a very strong leader for our galaxy,”

“But wouldn’t the whole concept of uniting the galaxy taint his capability of being a pure-blood?” Maria rushed on; Liz could see the wheels turning in her head. What is Maria thinking? Unless Maria is doing this for Liz considering Liz wasn’t really paying attention. Liz’s thoughts concerning a certain dark haired man that captured her heart and her son nestled inside her womb.

“Some say yes and some say no. You must have faith…..the real teachings of Charn and his destiny is well hidden…. us mere Antarians and many other species across the galaxy interrupt what we are given,”
This meant that the true purpose of her son was hidden inside the orb she and Max found. As soon as she is reunited with Max, together, they will view the message.

“None the less All was done in order to ensure the destiny of the chosen one happens. The chosen one was meant to receive this miraculously gift just as King Xenolith’s followers hinted…” Yavis smiled. “Now…in all this excitement I have suddenly forgotten my place,” Yavis sheepishly laughed before grunting. “Well…where was I….Oh yes,” he said looking down at the pandai in front of him.

“The pandai has long existed before you and I were born. It was mainly used during the Skin wars for various reasons…” Yavis suddenly chuckled. “I’ve skipped a few pages. I’m sorry your majesty. Ill shall start again…”

He cleared his throat and in the mean time Liz sunk lower into the leather sofa, feeling that this will be another long explanation.

“The pandai is an inter-dimensional semi-permeable matrix. Inter: for internal. dimension meaning…our universe…you me…our memories…and history itself, semi-permeable means that certain substances…liquid I shall say for now can penetrate the inter wall…meaning our memories ….it roughly translate to liquid in some languages…so this pandai its not solid. Meaning that whatever that its inside can be altered in some way…. and matrix means an environment. So in other words an altered internal universe,”

“This is the third time I’ve heard this and ..lemmie just say this.. ‘Wha??’ ..”
“Maria Deluca. I understand completely. humans just don’t have the mental—“

“Don’t forget Yavis, that your majesty is half-human….she was...once human,”
Yavis cursed in another language. “Sorry your majesty,”
“Does anyone else think that they’re stuck in some long never ending history lesson?” Kyle said,
“Kyle..” Liz shushed. “Be quiet,” Turing to Yavis she nodded for him to continue.

“Maybe we shouldn’t dwell on the many translations and theories concerning the meaning of the term ‘pandai’…let’s focus on what it does and maybe we can understand its meaning…” he clapped his hands together and pointed to the pandai resting on the pedestal.

“This pandai was mainly used for prisoners of war, and potential enemy spies during the skins wars. Inside this box a person shall we say can create a universe for someone to be placed in….so for example…we would create a universe in which a potential enemy spy has escaped prison. Where does he or she go? We would watch and his or her….their mind will show us where they go. If they are a spy..then they are convicted..if not…then they are set free… Another reason we used to use the pandai is to hide the royal family. Zan’s great-grandfather used this when the city’s capital had been invaded by Kivar’s great grandfather..the pandai was able to hide his pressnce until his wife bore him a son—Zan’s father and they were able to raise him without their enemnies knowing their location….Another reason for using the pandai…to hide memories…say for example we place a mole in enemny terrorty and theyr suspect the mole knows something…they will try and use the best mind-readers but nothing…zip..the pandai can house old memories or top secret information to prevent information being leaked. Of course…he or she returns the keeper unlocks the pandai and the old memories return…volia…”

“What’s….a keeper?” Liz asked,

“You never miss a thing your majesty…a very wise skill to obtain …yes indeed…To create the pandai you need a powerful pure-blood Antarian adult male…the age here is eighteen. Then, let’s say for example, that the royal family are in trouble and their enemies are closing on their location. The powerful pure-blood male would create….well….depending on what he wants to do...he could create a universe in which the royal family didn’t exist, successfully hiding them….or he could erase the memories of the royal family and give them new ones….making them believe that they are common people…..so….he creates the pandai—which might I add takes a lot of power—he needs a keeper…a keeper of his secret …..someone to watch over the target: the royal family or the enemies….until the time is right to set the pandai free. To do this….its a sacred blood ritual in which consists of the maker’s blood and the keeper’s blood…to turn on the pandai—so it can hide or erases people’s memories of who they are---the keeper needs to slice a small scar. it can be anywhere and a drop of the maker’s blood must fall on the pandai in order to activate it—which is this dagger--- Pandai-vu—“

Yavis held up a medium side dagger with an ornate handle made of amethyst with tiny engravings that Liz couldn’t read unless she was up close. The knife itself looked like a butter knife but she knew that the thin elegant edge will be very sharp. Yavis placed the dagger back down on its stand.

“The keeper cuts the maker, blood falls and the pandai is activated. Once the keeper believes that the danger---whatever it may have been---has passed he or she makes a tiny cut herself and his or her blood will deactivate the pandai…..but…now this is when it’s dangerous…Once the keeper believes that the danger has passed all whose minds were directly altered must be present for the deactivation.”

“What happens to them if they don’t?” Maria asked.
“Utter chaos.” Yavis replied sternly, “Let’s say that the keeper was murdered…then the pandai will release whatever it had stored…old memories lets us and it will return the old memories to its target: the royal family…old memories will mix with the altered-new memories until the person cannot differ the two and unless…he or she can separate the old memories from the new memories they will become schizophrenic….utterly insane until they kill themselves….”

Everyone sat there for the moment.

“That is why the pandai hasn’t been used since the Skin Wars, your majesty. And I strongly urge you to never use this pandai for there are dire consequences for the minds altered by the pandai if the keeper was killed before he or she deemed it safe for deactivation,”

Chapter 35

“Gives you chills, doesn’t it?” Maria commented as they left the room, she snaked her arm around Liz’s waist, giving her extra support as she sensed Liz’s distress over her unborn child and Max.

“What kind of chills exactly?” Kyle quipped, his arm around Liz’s shoulders.
“Bite me Kyle,” Maria whispered, her blue eyes glared at him.
Ava was no where to be seen. Liz didn’t know if she felt relieved or worried about it. Her son certainly told her that he was okay with it but her own feelings said otherwise. If Ava managed to find a cure? What about Tess? And Alex? Are they both dead? She knew that it was a bit macabre thing about this but she wanted the knowledge, no closure, Liz corrected herself. She wanted closure so she can heal.

Speaking of closure, a certain orb came to mind. After hearing about the pandai, the knowledge of her son’s destiny hangs in the air. What was so special about her son? Only the orb held the answers.

They were led by Yavis into an oval room. It was of middle-eastern architecture; the walls were curved and met in the middle. Couches surrounded the perimeter and a small pedestal was in the middle. A beam of light encased the entire pedestal—highlighting the small ivory stand in which the orb will be placed. This was the communications room, Liz realised, tingles of remembrance shot through her.
A hidden door on the right opened and Michael, Isabel and Max followed suit.

Shouts of joy and disjointed bits of conversation filled the room.
“This is the last straw Space boy!”
“So, this place…..”
“I thought you were…”
“Oh come off it!”

However, Liz felt speechless. Max, he was awake. Her skin was jumping all over the place. Max was here! Her body, heart and soul cried but she was rooted to her place. She couldn’t remember the last time that she saw him last. Apart of her was mad for leaving her alone when she needed him the most but at this moment she needed him. The arguing and squabbling part can come later.

“M-” Liz couldn’t say his name without hitching a breath. Tears pooled out as she ran into his embraces, her arms securing a firm grip, however a medium sized bump prevented Liz from encasing her body in his. His hand rubbed her swollen body, she could feel his awe rush over her.
“Liz..” never did she hear her name uttered with such resonance and love until now. Liz placed kisses on his chest and his hands gripped around her waist. Liz rubbed her hands over his lower back in lazy circles.
“You can have the reunion later,” Kyle said, standing alongside Isabel. “Let’s see what the message says,”

A maid followed in and handed a small knapsack to Yavis. He zipped the bag open and pulled out a small metallic orb. He gestured the orb to Max and Liz.

“Your majesty,” He smiled over at Liz before bowing. He then, in turn, bowed in front of Max. “Your highness. It is a relief to see that you have recovered. Now, let’s see what the message says,” He placed the orb on top of the ivory stand and stood back, next to Isabel and Kyle.
A familiar image appeared in front of them.

“If you are seeing me now. I know that Zan has chosen his bride and is now carrying the chosen one. It is my duty to tell you the true message behind Charn’s destiny.”
“Destiny, how I hate that word,” Maria mumbled.
“Maria,” Max whispered, giving her a warning’s glance before turning back to the hologram.

“Around your time of 1783, Havana, Zan’s wife was stabbed to death; discovered through autopsy that she was three months pregnant with Zan’s child. A mysterious power called the Granilith is born and lies in the hands of Zan and his followers. Many thought that the Granilith was created by Zan but that is not true. The Granilith actually was created by the sands of time and was kept secret from the royal House of Avon until 1783. A mysterious time traveller appeared before us and helped us relocate the buried Granilith. His name was foreign to us but before he left he claimed to be from the past and future. He handed us the scroll, containing the prophecy the true purpose of Charn’s destiny and returned to his time. This prophecy our Ancestor heard a long time ago was bestowed to me. My son, I memorised the words before burning the scroll to keep you safe and to shield you from your doomed fate,”

“Time traveller?” Maria said. “Who can it….’
“Maria!” Isabel and Michael snapped.
“Doomed fate?” Kyle commented, ignoring Isabel who was making shooshing sounds.

Liz whispered to Max, “I think Zan’s mother is referring to her son in her time line. This message must’ve have been created when you guys were alive. Which meant that she knew that her son was going to die and be reborn into a human alien Hybrid and create Charn?”

“Makes sense, I guess,” Max whispered back.

“What I am about to tell you must be kept to yourselves or chaos shall follow.” Zan’s mother continued. “The time traveller said before he left that there were two popular beliefs in which Charn’s birth shall destroy mankind or the other myth in which Charn leads our people into war, delivering us from evil, and reunites our two worlds. According to the scripture the traveller obtained from our ancestor. Both prophecies are true. Charn is the destroyer and the saviour.”

The hologram flickered.

“This isn’t good,” Kyle said. Neither of them noticed the young maid hovering by the door, her mind racing. I must tell the others! The maid thought.

**i'm trying to get into the swing of things so hopefully this small chapter is okay**

Chapter 36

The maid who was outside the royal meeting room only a few minutes ago was running. Running, running, running down the stone floors as her long dirty hair streamed behind her. Tears coated her eyes as the sound of her heartbeat drilled her ears. She didn’t want to die.

_ _ _ _ _

Liz was standing alone in a cold dark cellar that smelt like old fish. She saw a young girl was long flowing hair and unnerving silver eyes was surrounding by a pulsating viscous pond. The pond burbled dark red bubbles that smelt of burnt rubber. The girl was huddled in the corner and was afraid and yet aware of what she was. Flanked beside her were two pulsating see-through bags that looked like oversized ovary sacs suspended by the ceiling. Inside was the same fluid that stained the floor and the girl’s pale flesh. Suddenly, Liz saw through the girl’s eyes and saw a flicker of golden girls and a flash of a familiar pair of blue eyes.

“Liz,” Maria was lying beside her on Liz and Max’s master bed. It took a few seconds for Liz to realise where she was. She was in a small room with a King’s size mater bed with goose down silk sheets. The floor was lavender and the walls had the long thick magenta drapes drawn shut for privacy. However, as Liz breathed she could smell faint traces of the terrible fish odour and feel the slimily viscous that looked like the innards of a female womb on her skin. The vision unnerved her. Who was this little girl? And why do I get the feeling that Tess is somehow connected?
“Hey, Chica, are you alirght?” Maria asked, interrupting Liz’s train of thought.

Should I tell Maria about my dreams? Liz thought. On second thoughts, it would be best until I talk to Max.

Max, Liz breathed. She really needed him right now. They had a lot of things to talk about and not enough time in the day to spend talking about it. Not only were they going to be parents they would be also Leaders of another planet. There was also the issue of Alex, Kivar, Serena and their child to deal with. Their son, Liz rubbed her swollen belly and lazily smiled. Liz couldn’t explain it but she knew that Charn would be here soon and they needed to prepare.

As Liz pounded Maria turned to face, her long golden hair was now dull and flat and her green eyes were surrounded by a red haze. She too was tired, hungry and eagerly awaiting for her love to return.
Liz could feel her child moved inside her and it caused her to wince. Her feet were sore and her back felt like it was in splinters. Pregnancy suddenly caught up with her.

“Where’s?” Liz began but Maria beat her to it.
“Max and Michael, along with Isabel are taking a tour of the Palace.” Maria yawned. “That was only half an hour ago,” Maria glanced at her watch; there was an hour until sunset.

Liz nodded. She remembered taking a nap after receiving the message about her son. Liz sighed. How do you deal with that? Knowing that your son will be responsible for ending and saving the world? How does that make sense? How can our son be the destroyer and the saviour?
“Hey, Chica, I know what you’re thinking and hey, your son is not a destroyer or whatever doom and gloom that old lady prescribed. All prophecies are riddles. You just gotta read between the lines” Maria slowly lifted up her shirt to reveal the shining blue handprint, the top part had already faded and the only thing left was the outline of Liz’s palm.
“Your son wouldn’t heal me if he was a…”

“I know Maria but all of this it’s hard to…”
“Digest I know…believe me I just wanna a bottle of the strongest vodka and call it a day but we gotta run with it. We chose to be sucked into the alien abyss and this is what we gotta deal with,”
There was a slight knock on door.

Maria sighed. “If that’s Michael. I’m gonna kill him…wait a minute Michael never knocks…”Maria shrugged, “Probably Kyle then,”
As Maria slid of the bed and walked towards the front door Liz had a slight feeling of a bowling bowl hitting her stomach. Something was not right….something….

“Maria don’t…” but it was too late she opened the door and two palace guards knocked her out cold, she laid unconscious in a crimple heap with a fresh blooded bruise to the head.
Liz gasped, clutching her belly in fear.

“If you don’t come with us we will kill her and the boy too,” The first guard said. The guards were dressed in royal armour, with silver chest plates and a dark swish plaided skirt that swayed at the knees. The claves had long cylinder shaped protectors clasped around their pale legs.
The second guard was of average height and wearing the same armour as the first but had long pale blonde hair with the other had a rusted brown.

He scooped her up from her bed and Liz struggled by at the same time she feared that he would drop her and cause harm to her child. So, she still her body and tried to remain calm as her feet and hands were bound and carried out like a convicted criminal to the back passageway. The last image Liz saw before being herded into the back passage door was a petite female maid with long dirty hair and a look of relief on her face.
