Chapter 21

"Hey Liz can I talk to you a minute?" Michael asked just as the group was getting ready to head back to class after lunch.

"Yeah sure...hey go on without me Maria, I'll see you in class..." Liz called out and threw Max a wink before walking off with Michael.

His heart was racing, and he knew he had one chance to get this right or they'd both be dead, "Um so I was just..." Suddenly he let his connection open, like tenticles they reached out, latching on to the dormant encoding that linked him to his siblings. ~Listen up sweets, if yous want to get out of dis alive, Iz need yous to follow my lead, got it...~

Liz flinched at the ragged connection, and instantly she realized this was not Michael, but rather his dupe...Rath at her side.

~What do you want?!~ she snapped mentally, but continued to smile and talk in the midst of it.

Rath couldn't help but smirk, she was definately Sardonian, ~Ders a trap being set as we speak, my backstabbing bitch and your pyscho cousin are waiting for me to lead yous to the parking lot, where deys prepared to capture yous.~

Liz was confused by his declaration, either this was a ploy to throw her off or he was seriously an idiot, but their was something different behind his eyes. She'd only spent a few moments with both Rath and Lonnie, but there was always a cold edge to their eyes, almost like they were completely devoid of warmth. Yet now she could feel a small sliver of emotion, rolling through him, he was afraid, she concluded and it was this fear that'd caused him to change tactics.

~Why are you telling me this, what is it your trying to play at here Rath?~ she asked still trying to read his intentions.

Walking carefully through the courtyard, he turned his gaze from her letting his eyes search the sea of students, carefully picking out Lonnie's energy signature. They were close, and he was running out of time. ~Iz need yous to offer me a place to crash and in return Iz will help you take down both the Lonnie and Queen bitch, do wez have a deal...~

It was a bold move, and Liz could tell he was placing all his hopes on her decision, though she wasn't a hundred percent on how trustworthy this dupe was, she also knew she had no other choice but to trust him. She was already sensing not only Lonnie and Tess but Tristan and a handful of skins in the vicinity, there was no time and she would not place innocent lives in danger.

~Fine...but mark my words Rath if this is a setup I swear by the gods you will live to regret this move.~ Her eyes flashed amber and Liz watched satisfied as Rath gulped.

~Yeah Iz get it, Majesty.~

On cue Rath led Liz to the designated spot, and like clockwork Lonnie and Tess jumped out ready for an attack. "Well, well if it aint her royal highness, hows it feel to get yourself caught?" Lonnie taunted and signaled to Tess to start the warp.

With her eyes scrunched in concentration, Tess attempted to warp Liz, but what she wasn't expecting was Liz's mind to be sheilded, and each attempt was met with only failure. Angry and frustrated Tess made one final attempt, pulling on all her power she mentally bombed Liz's mind, this time she managed to dent the sheild and Liz cried out in pain.

"RATH! Grab her and lets go!" Lonnie ordered.

Only hesitating for a second Rath picked up the fallen queen, and backed away from his team of renegade's "Sorry sweets but Iz aint followin your orders anymore..." he snarled and continued to push back.

Lonnie let out a disgusted laugh, "Yous really are an idiot, do yous honestly think yous can just walk outta here without any retaliation, look around you lover..." she waved her hand and 5 skins aswell as a pissed Ciyan stepped forward.

"DROP HER RATH!" Ciyan ground out, his energy spiking with rage.

With a smirk Lonnie closed the distance between herself and Rath, "See Rathie boy yous aint got a shot in hell, so why not be a good lil boy and give us the girl we'll calls it an even trade, her life for yours..."

Unblinking Rath stared his mate down, "Nah sweets, Iz think Iz will take my chances wit de cornballs, plus Iz wouldn't miss de oppurtunity to watch yous fail princess."

"Are yous high..." before she could finish her thought a blast caught her off guard, grazing her shoulder and causing her to cry out in pain as she fell backwards.

"NOW!" a voice commanded.

Maria and Serina set up a perimeter and used their time manipulation skill to block a section of the courtyard, so as not to cause a disruption in public. It was completly surreal inside the circle time progressed normally while their surrounding's froze to a standstill. "Max we don't have much time..." Maria called out.

Within seconds Max, Zan and Michael, had taken out all five skins, their ashes floated remorserly around the royal's, "You were saying?" Max stepped forward, his eyes glowing amber with power.

"Well, well if it aint my big bro, so yous finally grew a pair, how about we dance and see just how powerful the mighty Zan really is?" Ciyan snarled and lept into a defensive pose.

Through the confrontation Tess realized the odds were against them and right now the last thing they needed was for Ciyan to square off against Max, especially with the rest of the Royal's around for support. Grabbing onto Lonnie she ciphered enough power from her to pull up a mindwarp, she then pushed her way into Ciyan's mind and forced him to obey. The stress of maintaining both warps was causing her great physical harm and already blood seeped from her eyes and nose, but with sheer deteremination she was able to get herself and Lonnie and Ciyan outta harms way.

"FUCK!" Michael cursed when the warp dropped and he realized the trio was gone.

With the danger gone the Time Freeze was let down, and the Royal's took the few seconds it took for time to readjust itself to make their escape. They opted to meet back at Michael's, to regroup and interogate Rath.

****************************

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?" Lonnie roared sending a blast of power searing through the empty space of desert around them.

"It's obvious we were double-crossed by your dumb and obidient mate?" Tess seethed she had Ciyan's head in her lap and was trying to re-enforce the warp she'd placed previously on his mind.

Lonnie paced furiously, curses flowing freely from her lips as her skin crackeled with energy, "Now what do wez do, huhnn queenie, cause we've just lost our one shot at dis shit, der aint no way the Royal's will let Alexia outta der sights now."

"Perhaps, I can be of assitance..."

Two heads whipped around in shock, and what they were confronted with was a sight they hadn't fathomed in a thousand years. The man that stood before them could not possibly be real, yet each step seemed to solidfy his presence. His dark blonde locks fell in liberal waves around his face, giving his already boyish complexion an even more angelic appeal. His eyes were a deep cerulean that seemed to reflect the light with an incandescence that was far too surreal to be human, even the chiseled features of his jawline and muscular build of his body was in it's own perfection intangible. Giving him an ominous aire that lingered over his surroundings, chilling the blood of any misfortunate onlooker.

"Khivarr..." Tess whispered her eyes as wide as saucers.

The smile that floated over his lips, could stop a heart mid-beat with it's malevolent beauty, and the soft timber of his laugh was deceptive in it's richness, because in truth the entity it belonged to, was colder than deepest reaches of space. "Ava my how the mighty have fallen, but do not fret little sister all shall be as it should be soon."

Tess was unable to hide the fear that trembled through her body at his words, they were all doomed now, because if there was one truth that transcended both time and space it was that her brother wrought only death and destruction. If he was standing here before her, then Earth would suffer the same fate as Antar and the 5 planets, Earth was doomed.

In the night screams tore through the peaceful silence only to be tempered with an insidious laugh that whipped around the desert washing away the tranquility that once flourished in its place.

******************************

''Hey how you holdin up?" Serina gently proded as she took a seat next to her sister.

She couldn't help but smile, in the short time they'd been reunited the two had rekindled their bond, almost as if no time had passed between them. "Im alright, I just can't believe I let her get through my barriers, maybe I need more practice..." Liz furrowed her brow in concentration, scanning her powers and replacing the barrier around her mind.

"Liz, yous aint invincible, and though I knows you can kick some serious ass, don't let dis get to ya, alright?"

"Yeah I know, its just how am I supposed to protect all of you if I can't even keep Tess outta of my head." Liz let her head hang dejectedly, feeling the weight of the world pushing down on her shoulders.

It pained Serina to see her like this, memories flashed before her eyes, and the similarities made her shiver, "Come on boo dis aint your responsibility, wez all here for you. Now lets get out der before our lovable yet oh so pigheaded big brother tears Rath apart, before we get any answers outta him."

Liz giggled at her description and with an arm around her sister's shoulder they both walked out together.

"HEY Chica!" Maria squealed before launching herself at an unsuspecting Liz causing all three girls to stumble and fall in a fit of laughter.

"Geez Maria you don't want to knock her out again..." Michael grumbled as helped his two sisters and Maria up off the floor.

"Shut up Spaceboy, I'm still pissed at you." she pulled out of his arms stalking over to where Alex and Isabel were seated together.

Liz threw Serina a questioning look, ~What was that about?~

~Nothin just Michael being an idiot again and almost wrecking Nia's car in the process.~

Liz sighed and shook her head, it seemed she'd have to sit down with her brother soon, and explain to him the inner working of the female mind. "So what's the damage?" she asked while staring up at Michael.

The others were all anxious to get Liz's take on the situation since she was the one who'd spoken to Rath before the fallout, and it seemed he was refusing to speak to anyone but her. A fact that had both Michael and Max up at arms, and doubting Rath's intentions.

Max who'd been busy interogating Rath turned when he felt Liz's presence swirl around him, he let out a breath and smiled at her. Leaving Rath in Zan's capable hands, he made his way over to her. "Hey...how you feeling?" he let his hand graze her soft treces.

Taking his cue Michael stepped back, and soon both Liz and Max were lost in the moment, letting the warmth of their love flow openly between them. It was such a small act, but just the simple pleasure of feeling each other on such an intimate level nourished their souls. "I was so worried about you." his voice gently whispered over to her.

"I'm alright Max, I promise, and after we're done here I think we need some down time just you and me..." her eyes held a different depth to them, that made his pulse race, whatever she had in mind would definately change the course of their relationship. She smiled and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, "Alright lets get down to buisness."

They were growing more in tune with each other, working as a team without much need for direction, each member knew exactly where to be and what their role was within the groups dynamic. They were finally a unit, "So Rath you wanted a place to crash, and you kept up with your part of the deal, so lets have a little chat..," Liz took a seat infront of him, Max and Zan flanking her sides, while Michael stayed behind Rath, Serina Isabel and Tristan took up stations at each corner, leaving both Maria and Ava for back up on the outskirts. Guards were up, and each member let their senses heighten opening themselves up in case of an attack.

Rath was in awe, the general in his essence couldn't help but be impressed, "It seems you cornballs have been training, Iz don't think Lonnie was expecting dis shit, Tessie gave us the impression yous guys were still babes in arms. Theys in for a real surprise..."

"Look this is all fun and shit, but we don't have a whole lot of time, so what's Lonnie up too, cause this shit has her name written all over it." Michael slapped his dupe upside of the head.

"Shit!" Rath cursed and glared up at his dupe.

"Michael stand down..." Max ordered and then kneeled infront of Rath, "...I don't like you, and frankly if it were my decision to make you'd be out of our hair permanently, but fortunately for you, we all have a say in your fate, and majority favored you, but get one thing straight you so much as breath in the wrong way and I will personally take you out, understand?" his eyes flashed black and amber with unrestraint power.

"Yeah Iz got you cheif, no needs to worry Im as harmless as a lil lamb, so whats yous want to know?"

"First off what is Lonnie planning, and why were they after Liz?" Max asked taking his seat once again at Liz's side.

"Well Lonnie has alot balls up in de air, she's workin her own angel though, she's got Tessie and Ciy believin she's in dis shit wit them but on the low she's workin wit your shifter..."

"What, so Langley's working with Lonnie?" Isabel shot back, not really trusting their new informant.

"Nah not Langley's sorry ass, the otha one, yous know Nase-something or otha.."

"Nasedo?" Liz offered and Rath nodded. "Well atleast we know where his backstabbing behind ended up, can't say its much of a surprise considering who he was alligned with originally. Alright so Lonnie's working with Nasedo, but what is exactly is she planning?"

Rath scratched his eyebrow and gathered his thoughts, not really sure if he should reveal all his cards up front, making a judgement call he decide there was no use in keeping secrets, either way he wasn't going to make it out of this war alive, but atleast he'd get the satisfaction of bringing Lonnie down with him. "Lonnie needs to get rid of the real queen, before she bonds with her true mate and reaches her full potential. Once Max pops Liz's cherry she'll be one hella off a bitch, and Lonnie can't let that happen, so the plan was to hand sweets over to the shifter, who would get his rocks off and in the process have a bonafide oracle at his disposure."

Both Max and Zan were about to pounce at Rath's lack of respect, but Liz eased them back, rubbing a hand lightly over their backs, "So I guess I'm the prize, how does Khivarr fit in all this?" she asked trying to divert the conversation back to the matter at hand.

"That's the real question now, see Lonnie's real mission was to secure your safety and hold you til the big man gets here, which by the way should be any day now."

There was a collective gasp that could be heard circling the room, though they knew the battle would be fought on Earth, they figured it wouldn't be for a good while. Another sick twist of fate, that now fell on their shoulders, and once the shock wore out, only anger remained, anger that their innocence was now a long gone memory.

Michael led Rath into the empty utility closet, and after he pushed him in, sealed the door shut posting Tristan at the door as a security measure. The others had reconvined in the living room, each trying to figure what the next plan of attack should be.

"I think we should bail, everyone knows were here, and dis town aint safe no more." Serina spoke up first, she'd been going over the information Rath had given them and it seemed laying low in Rozy New Mexico was not the smartest of deals.

That suggestion did not bode well with the Parkers, Evans, and De Luca's, "What about our parents, what's to stop Lonnie or Khivarr or whatever other pyschotic alien asassins are after us..." Alex said outraged with the suggestion, his arms protectively locked around Isabel.

"Looks Im with sweets over der, dis shit is serious and wit Khivarr involved, wez sittin ducks out here, what happens when all hell breaks loose and your fam gets in da crossfire?" Zan joined Ava over by the counter, his knuckles drumming on the linolium.

Through their connection Max could feel Liz's fear and guilt over the situation at hand, "ENOUGH!" He yelled and in an instant the room fell silent, though he hadn't been lying when he told Rath they each had a say in matters, right now his word was law. "I'm sorry but there is no other choice but to go, we can't put our families in that kind off danger, and I doubt either Khivarr or Lonnie will care with 'insignificant' humans once were gone..." Max turned a regretful eye to his companions, he felt the loss just as much as they did, "I know this isn't what you guys want, I don't want to leave either, but what choice do we have?"

"We could tell them...our parents we could tell them the truth..."Liz suggested.

"No...NO Im sorry Liz but we can't risk it."

"Max that's not just your decision to make I say we vote..." this time Isabel was the one to speak up.

Rubbing the back of his neck, Max let out a sigh, though he knew telling the parents was not the best option, right now he couldn't afford a rift in the group, he just prayed enough voted no. "Fine we vote...I vote No we dont tell the parents."

"I vote No." Michael cast the second vote.

"Yes..." Liz was next, followed by Alex who also voted yes.

"Look Iz wit Maxie boy, tellin them will only put dem in danger, so I vote No." Zan walked up to Max's side, standing with arms crossed a mirror image to his dupe.

"I votes No, sorry sis but we'z can't risk it..." Serina bowed her head, not able to meet her sister's eyes.

Both Isabel and Maria cast their votes simultaneously voting "Yes"

The last two votes were held by Tristan and Ava, the two members on the team that really weren't sure either way, they had no personal stake in the matter, and really couldn't find the need to tell the parents of great importance. In the end they followed their king, and though it was met with alot of angry glares, the Royal's decided to make a clean break, using Ava's mindwarp to assure their parents would ask no questions.

******************************

With only one night to say their goodbyes the group split up, Serina taking off with Liz and Alex over to the Parkers, while Tristan joined Maria and Michael over at the De'Luca's and finally leaving both Zan and Ava to stay with the Evan's. Zan was to play the part of Max and Isabel's long lost brother, while Ava easily transformed into Tess.

Each group though attempting to be their normal well adjusted selves, were failing miserably as a somber cloub fell over Roswell. Unable to keep up appearances Liz excused herself claiming she wasn't feeling well, and with Serina in tow they both made their way over to the Liz's balcony. In silent aggreement the sisters let themselve get lost in the moment, trying to hold onto the stillness of the desert at dusk.

"Liz...Liz!" Max's voice drifted up from the alley.

Serina made a quick departure, knowing this was definately not the kind off situation she wanted to stick around for, especially not when Liz let loose on Max, which would definately not be pretty.

"Liz are you up there?" Max's voice called out again.

Once she was sure Serina was gone, Liz signaled for Max to come up, but would still not look in his direction, she knew it wasn't fair to blame him, but it just hurt that he stick with her on this decision.

Max knew this was going to be difficult, Liz had shut him out of the connection hours ago, and he could tell by the coldness in her glare she was far from over it. "Liz I know your angry with me right now, but I only did what I thought was best, and the others agreed..."

"Why yes your majesty, your lackies agreed with his highness edict." she immediately regretted her crude comeback, knowing Max still had doubts at being the leader, she automatically went for the heart on purpose, but she stayed silent nontheless.

"You know what fine Liz you want act like a toddler and throw a fit, go ahead! I will not feel guilty for making the right decision for all of us!" Max shot back, he'd lost his patience, and was sick of her attitude.

"You have no RIGHT to decide whether or not I TELL MY FAMILY!" Liz exploded. She wasn't only aggrivated with the fact that telling the parents was a group decision, this anger stemed from her recent lack of control in any part of her life. To Liz it seemed she was just a puppet watching as different people pulled the strings of her life, causing her to jump and dance at their leisure.

"My Right, MY RIGHT! YOUR MY FAMILY...Isabel, Alex, Michael, Maria, and the rest of the Unit, THEY ARE YOUR FAMILY...And right now we are at WAR LIZ...DAMN IT!" Max began to pace the small space on her balcony, anger roaring through him, intensifying when he took notice of her still defiant and resentful gaze. "DO YOU EVEN CARE...This is not just you and Alex anymore, we are a unit, a family, and though I hate it I'm responsible for all of you, and I would rather have you guys angry with me, then have any of us get hurt or die because I didn't want to upset you." Tired and dejected, Max just fell back into the lawn chair with a sigh, his eyes closed.

They were at an impass, and Liz knew it, she could continue to remain angry and probably cause a rift to form between her and Max, and inturn the group. Or she could swallow her pride and admit to herself that Max had actually made the right decision, and she was just redirecting her pent up aggression and blaming him for something he had no control over. She slowly crept over to him, her decision made, she let down her walls and opened herself to him, letting go of her resentment she sat next to him.

"I'm sorry..." but that was as far as she got, before Max had pulled her into his arms. It was that instant that she finally let go, not caring what happened any longer, just as long as she had him by her side.

She didn't have to apologize, just the simple act of her opening up to him, was enough, "Don't Liz...don't apologize not to me, I know how hard all this has been for you, so don't apologize, because there is nothing to forgive..." Letting his hands stroke her hair soothingly, Max let himself soak in her warmth, and let himself relax for the first time in days.

Everything was changing, they couldn't pretend any longer, no matter how much they wanted to be normal human teenagers, the truth was they would never be normal, and now they were leaving behind the last piece of innocence they had left...their home. Liz didn't care about being a queen or an oracle, and she certainly didn't want to go to some far away galaxy to a home she couldn't really remember. Afraid of getting lost in the doubts and fears that raged inside her, she clung tighter to Max's body, willing time to freeze. Praying that just for tonight, she could find a moments peace in the arms of the only man she'd ever love.

Max could feel her turmoil as it rolled over him, looking down his heart ached for her, Liz's eyes were shut tight, and small lines furrowed on her brow as she fought back the tears that threatened to fall. Their were no words, he didn't need them with her, she knew his heart and soul and he knew hers. Lifting her up into his arms he gently carried her through the open window that led to her bedroom, he laid her on the bed never losing her gaze.

In silent communication Liz relayed her consent to him, and scooted over giving Max room to lay at her side. This moment wasn't about need or biological encoding, this moment was about them, two hearts searching for the courage and comfort in their mates matching point. She let her hands roam over his chest lightly, and when she reached the hem of his shirt, it only took one tug and it was gone, leaving him bare to her ministrations. "So beautiful..." she whispered and let her hands dance over each dip and peak.

Locked within the depths of her eyes, Max felt his body stir to action, without hesitation he pulled her to him, letting the deliciously sweet fragrance of strawberries and jasmine wrap around him. That was her scent, so completely perfect he'd never tire of it, she would never truly understand the depths of his desire for her, because it could never be matched. It left him terrified at times, she was his greatest strength but at the same time his deadliest weakness as well, all anyone had to do was mention her name and he'd cave like coward. Even now as he prepared to share himself completly with her, he doubted his worth in comparisson, but regardless he'd treasure every second with her.

Pushing away the silky material of her top, his pulse quickened when he drank in the sight of her bare breasts, her breath was coming out in small pants and the flush that painted her cheeks only added to her beauty. "Words can't even describe, how perfect you are...I love you Liz..."

A shiver raced down her spine, when she felt his words whisper around her, and before she could respond back, his lips were upon her, devouring her mouth with hungry passion, which she returned greedily.

Within minutes they were both lost in a haze of heat and craving, thier clothes had long since been discarded and both fell into worshipping every new spance of skin, that lay revealed for the first time to the young lovers.

"I need...you Max..." Liz cried out when she felt his fingers dipp inside the creamy warmth of her core, an instinct older than time took over and she rocked her hips meeting him thrust for thrust.

The smell of her arousal and the moans that escaped her parted lips, were slowly driving him mad, and he bit down hard on his bottom lip to halt his own release from spilling over the small hand that was now stroking him with firm confidence. "Please Liz...you need to...stop...ARGH!!" he growled when she squeezed his tip before conitnuing to pump him faster. Grabbing her hand he stilled her movements and swallowed a gulp of air trying to calm himself down, "...I won't last...much longer if...you keep that up..." he gave her a half smile, and bent down to take her lips once more.

Each touch left her breathless, he was playing her like skilled musician, plucking each chord to perfection and leaving her trembling in euphoric desire, "Max Please...Oh God..." she threw her head back in ecstasy as his lips tasted her sex for the first time, she was so worked up that it only took a swipe of his tongue to send her flying over the edge.

In awe he watched as a golden light engulfed her, leaving her skin glowing with raw power, and when she pulled him up and fused her lips to his, Max felt every emotion and feeling that raced through her. Knowing he wouldn't be able to last much longer, he nudged her legs apart and without a second thought pushed into her, tearing through the last piece of her innocence and binding them eternally to each other. "AWWW!" both cried out in a mix of pleasure and pain.

Pausing he let her adjust to his girth, gently he kissed away the stray tear that streaked her cheek, and when he felt her stir below him, he began to slowly pump in and out of her. She was perfect, fitting him like a glove, he picked up his pace pulling nearly completly out before slamming down again and again. Her cries were growing louder with every thrust, not wanting to alarm her parents Max fused his mouth to hers, effectively swallowing her moans and his own at the same time.

The rythmn between them was building into a magnificent crescendo, as sweat slicked bodies drove into each other, desperate for release, each grunt and cry reaching for a connection that seemed unimaginable. When their orgasmn hit, their bodies pulsated with a golden heat that drenched the room in liquid fire, both Max and Liz were riding out a wave of power and pleasure that nearly knocked them out cold. Their souls were knitting together forming a single tapestry of love that would extend through death to assure their unity in the next life. They were eternal, one could not survive without the other, and each new life only solidified this truth.

Unable to move or speak, the young king basked in the warmth of his queen's love, finding his home within the safety of her arms. Together atlast both fell into a quiet slumber, unwilling to relinquish this peace to times steely cold grip. They remained connected even in sleep, and dreams of happier times, filled with friends and family and two dark haired toddlers with amber eyes that smiled up at them, mischieve glinting in their eyes, and a promise of what was yet to come in their hearts.

************************

"Are we ready?" Max questioned the somber crew before him, and when they each nodded in recognition he turned to Liz, "Are you ready?" he quietly asked.

Her eyes were already misted with unshed tears, when she'd awoken a couple of hours ago, she been ecstatic feeling complete for the first time in her life. But when Max called the others together and explained their departure, it was like the rug was pulled out from underneath her. Liz could not even make it through an embrace with her mother, without falling apart, luckily Ava was their and she quickly wiped away the memory from both Nancy and Jeff Parker.

As far as the Parker's knew their children were both taking part in a study abroad program in Sweden, along with the Evan's and Amy De Luca, whose childern were also chosen for the distinguished honor of representing the US in a foreign country.

"Yes..." Liz's voice squeeked out, and soon the teens were packed up and heading out of Roswell, New Mexico, a new chapter in their lives just beginning as their childhood closed behind them. Heavy were the hearts of the Royal's, knowing that the weight of two worlds now rested firmly on their inexperienced shoulders, may the gods keep them in their good graces, and help the young find the strength to see this task through til the end...

Thanks Again for all the feed Back and A REALLY BIG THANKS TO ALL MY READERS... You guys are my inspiration...

Enough of the MUSH...On with the Story....

Chapter 22

Journal Entry 1
(Somewhere on the outskirts of Colorado...)

I'm Liz Parker and two days ago I left my home and everything I've ever known, to help save not only this planet but a home world I can't even remember. See the thing is that I'm an alien, No...not just an alien but rather a human alien hybrid, created out of the essence of a dead alien queen, and designed to be my galaxies only salvation. Well that's not entirely true, its not just me, there are actually a total of 14 hybrids here on earth, the Royal court consisting of 10 indvidual's, and 4 back-ups designed to be not only decoys but our bodyguards. Seemed like the perfect plan at the time, but like all good plans something went terribly wrong, but I digress...

My former name was Alexia Nexus D'thaime, a was first born princess of the Planet Sardonia, and my twin brother Rathos was the heir to the throne. Rath's essence now resides in one Michael Guerin, I just found him not more than a month ago after searching for 10 years, and not only did I find him but my entire unit. Unit, it seems weird thinking of them in such a tactical term, but that is what we were designed to be. Each of us has certain talents if you will that are meant to compliment our mates...yes you heard it right we were paired at conception engineered to be with a single hybrid. Ofcourse atleast they got the pairing right in this life, my mate is none other than the love of my former life and ofcourse high king reincarnate Alezannder Carisius Zannos or Zan for short, now however he goes by the name Max Evans, he along with his sister Isabel (the former Volanndra Zannos) were adopted by the Evan's of Roswell New Mexico. I know, I know the irony that we not only crashed in Roswell but pretty much dominated the area is still beyond me.

So Max is my mate and life couldn't be better, happily ever after right, not really, one little problem, well actually its a big problem, and he goes by the name, Khivarr. Khivarr is the tyrant who killed all of us in our previous life, he's ravaged an entire galaxy, and has now set his sights on Earth and the cloned royal's. Him along with Lonnie, Tess and Ciyan who've all gone renagaed on us, are the main reason we've had to abandon our homes and set off on this cross country trip.

Our biological encoding is starting to kick in, driving us towards a goal that we aren't prepared for, pushing us into roles that may lead down a path of death and distruction. What little innocence we have left, is only an illusion, we were created to be weapons, each deadly in his/her own right, fitting together perfectly like pieces to a puzzel...but we aren't machines, we might be half alien, but we're also half human. Maybe that's our tragic flaw...emotions. If our protectors had any say in it, we'd be flushed of all our humanity, because it is our humanity that makes us weak. I can't begin to count all the times Langley drove that thought into us, the hypocrite playing the role of big time hollywood producer in love with his precious facade, while at the same time condemning me and my brother Alex for feeling to much. Oh yeah I guess I should give you the heads up on the rest of the pod squad, let's see...

There is Alex my twin in this life and my younger sibling Lisander in a former life, we were both adopted by the Parkers and whisked away to sunny California where we grew into the well adjusted teens we are today. Serina is the final piece of the D'thaime quartet, and along with Tristan and Ciyan, two other founding members of the Royal court, was sent to New York. So now that I've told you about pretty much all of the Royal's except for a few key members, like Melenia who is now my bestfriend Maria De'Luca and Tristan's little sister, and oh yeah who could forget my loving and dear cousin Ava, or Tess as she's called int this life. Really I have no idea how she and Ava (her dupe) share the same genetic material, but maybe they mixed her wrong the same with Lonnie, too much alien DNA not enough humanity. Then again she wasn't a picnic in her previous life either...

I know there is more I need to say, and more I should get down on paper, this journal is more like a log, a history of our journey, so that the sacrifices we make will be remembered. So that if some of us should fall in battle, their stories will live on, in here, immortalized forever in ink and pen...but I'm just so tired. I need to keep up my strength, but the secrets I hide are slowly draining me dry, and I'm afraid I wont be strong enough to protect the ones I love much longer. Even the man beside me, my soulmate and lover, doesn't know the extent of my powers, the tragedy that comes with being able to see the future but helpless to prevent the outcome. So I will continue to keep my secrets, and let my family have a little piece of their innocence for just a short while longer...

Liz closed her journal and let her eyes wander over towards Max, she noticed how his gaze was transfixed on the road ahead of him, but the emotions rolling off him were on anything but the road. "Hey, penny for your thoughts..." she asked thoughtfuly.

Pulled suddenly from his thoughts Max turned to find Liz's curious eyes waiting for him, he couldn't help but smile. She was such a profound creature, even in her flaws he was able to find perfection, "Well I don't think they're worth that much..." he lightly teased back, then reaching his free hand over took hold of her hand. "I'm worried Liz, what if this wasn't the best idea, what if we've only made ourselves more vulnerable..."

"Max..." Liz quickly silenced his doubts, "We trust your decisions...I trust you, and I know that every step is well thought off and calculated to a fault, I know you Maxwell Evans, sometimes far more than you know yourself." She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze before, letting her gaze fall on the backseat of the jeep. Both Isabel and Alex had fallen asleep and seemed just content to be in each other's presence, warmth traveled through her body at the small smile that seemed forever plastered on her brother's lips. But before she could think on it further, she was jerked violently into a vision...

Flash....

"So Alexia I see you have a choice to make, come willingly or I shall take apart everything you hold dear starting with this maggot half breed brother of yours..." Khivarr sneers as his grip tightens around Alex's thoart. "Argh!! Don't do it Lexi....ARGH!!!" He cries out as Khivarr's razor sharp nails dig into the tender flesh of his neck.

"SANDER!!!!!" Liz cries out as she tries to rush to his side she feels arms wrap around her waist, she turns frantically to find Max holding on to her, desperately she claws at him, trying to reach her brother. "No...NO...NO!!!!" she shreaks out a horrid cry and releases what little power she has left, but it is no use. Max refuses to let go and they both tumble to the mud, battered and broken.

Khivarr laughs as he chokes the life out of Alex's torn body, and then simply discards him with out a second glance, "...Remember princess, I will kill everyone you hold dear, but I will save Zan for last and let you watch as I take him apart limb by limb..." he sneers and wipes the blood off his hands onto the back of his pants with disgust.

Just as suddenly as he arrived he is gone, but his distruction lays bare for all to see, all around lie bodies torn and tattered but none more tragic than that of the Queen's younger brother. Liz finally able to free herself from Max's arms crawls to her brother, each movement breaks her, but she continues til she is right by his side.

"Sander...Sander come on wake up, stop playing around..." her voice is weak and each breathe stings her bruised lungs but she continues forward, and craddles her little brother's head in her lap. Tears run endlessly down her face, and she can feel the rain now beating down on her, but nothing matters except the cold lifeless body that she is clinging as, memories flash before her eyes...

Flash...
Alex tickling her as they lay in a field, "Come on Lex let's go home..."
Flash...
"You know you keep frowning like that and you'll get wrinkles before your 15 birthday..." he teases and ellicites a smile. Then he pulls her down with him and they both fall onto his bed giggling and laughing.
Flash...
"Liz you can't control who you love, the heart wants what the heart wants..." he reaches out and pulls her into his arms gently rubbing her hair trying to comfort her.
She can feel his concern and his understanding through their connection, they've always stuck together, always shared a stronger connection than any of the others, and somehow he always knows the right things to say, "Thanks Sander, no matter how lost I get, your my beacon...you guide me home..." she let's herself be lulled to sleep in the arms of her brother, knowing that he'd never let any harm come to her.
End Flash...

"NOO!!!!" she howls miserably, still holding onto him for dear life. The others have formed a circle around her and each is crying feeling the depths of their own loss, but also feeling the misery that rages out of their broken queen. Isabel falls to her knees and cries out for her broken lover, "NO! Alex no...please dear god...PLEASE! she breaks down, Michael is at her side instantly, he gathers her sobbing body up and craddles her close to him, tears streak down his face, no longer the stonewall, he feels the emptiness that his younger brother's death has caused eating away at his very soul.

Serina is clinging to Tristan and Ciyan has fallen to the ground mere inches away from Liz, but he dares not reach out to her, he's not what she needs right now. When he glances to the side he watches his brother tredge up to her and fall to the ground at her feet. Everyone is still in denial, they can't possibly come to terms with the loss, so they watch the painful scene that plays out before them.

Feeling a presence fall to the ground next to her, Liz turns to find a beaten Max staring up at her, his eyes dark and storrmy with emotion, "Max please you have to heal him, PLEASE...I can't lose him..." she begs and continues to sob miserably.

Not wanting to push her for fear of snapping the little thread of reality she has left, Max moves forward and attempts a futile connection, but it is no use he can't bring back the dead, and every attempt only leaves him colder a knawing hopelessness ripping into his soul. When he turns to face his love it is with a heavy heart that he shakes his head, "Liz...I can't heal what's already gone..." he tries to reach out for her but she pushes him away.

"No try again...NO you have to try again...I SHOULD'VE GONE TO HIM....YOU STOPPED ME AND NOW HE IS DEAD...THIS IS YOUR FAULT..." she screams at him pushing back all his advances, but finally she can't go on, all her strength all her fight is gone and she crumbles into his arms endlessly sobbing.

Max can feel the tremors that wrack her body and with great pain he lifts her up with him, craddling her body gently against his chest, "Shhh...Lexi everything will be okay, I've got you, I'll always catch you...I'll never leave you Liz...I'll never leave you..." he whispers as he makes his way with great effort towards the cars, he stumbles every now and then but continues on regardless of the pain.

The sight before them is far to miserable to watch but each of them is transfixed as they watch their King and Queen struggle forward. Their bodies are bloodied and broken and mud is caked on them mixed with blood and tears they seem drenched in the horrible substance. Yet through all the pain and suffering they shine, they shine with a light that can't be dampened by death or sorrow. A light that proves that even after the unsurmountable odds, they will perciver, not because they want to, but because they have to, because that is the burden that has always befallen those who lead. One by one they each turn to follow them, Michael leaves Isabel to Ciyan's care and gently lifts the lifeless body of his brother into his arms. Following the ghostly procession as they make their way home. The war has commenced and it is a somber party that returns home, but though things seem hopeless, and hearts are broken all is not lost. Soon the time to fight will be at hand, and this tragedy shall serve to push them forward, it will bind them securely to one goal, and pity the miserable soul who unbeknownst stummbles onto their path.

End of Flash...

"LIZ! LIZ!...Come On Baby...Wake UP Liz!!!" his voice seeps in through the darkness that surrounds her, already the vision began loosening its grip on her mind, but the emotions left in its wake sliced through her, causing a gut wrenching cry to escape her parted lips, "NOOOOO!!!!"

The others stood back as Liz's body jerked upright her eyes cold and black stare ahead unseeing, already her skin wass crawling with red and green sparks of power that singed not only her clothes but the material of the car seat aswell.

Max remains unphased at her side, ciphering the turbulent energy from her body through their connection, he'd panicked when he'd seen Liz's body tense and then wilt on the seat next to him, but when she'd started convulsing and shaking uncontrollably he'd quickly pulled the jeep over. When he wasn't able to form a connection his own trepidation trippled over itself until his own fear caused streaks of identicle green and red lightening to dance over his skin. It wasn't until Serina stepped forward and explained that Liz was in the middle of a particularly strong vision, that he'd finally let himself ease off, but his eyes remained glued to her fallen form. He was diligently memorizing every painful detail, engraving this moment into his mind and heart. This moment would serve to fuel his resolve to end this ceaseless war, and finally give them all a chance at a real life. Hating the power that seemed to cause his love so much uneeded heartache, he cursed their creators ten times over and prayed that she'd soon be released from fates cruel grasp.

"Liz...baby? Can you here me?" Max led her gently into his arms, smoothing back sweat drenched locks as he whispered words of love and encouragement through their newly opened connection.

"Max...?" her voice trembled slightly as she shook free of the last vestiges of the vision, "What...happened?"

The group seemed to release a collective breath at the sound of her voice, "Liz what did you see?" Serina asked abruptly, she'd been the one out of all them to be least affected, having remembered her sister in this same perdicament numerous times before. She was also well aware that unless Liz explained the vision immediately it would soon grow fuzzy and incoherent with time.

Serina's question caused Liz to tense as the visiojn replayed itself in her minds eye, then in a trance like tone she described the dismal scene, not pausing once, not even when Isabel began chanting NO, over and over again, or when the others gasped in horror. Liz Parker was only an instrument at the moment, an extension of a higher power that needed them to be prepared for an abhorent battle. When she finished relaying the scene, her body and mind both weary escaped into the sweet release of sleep, and she fell back into Max's awaiting arms.

"Liz...?"

"Let her rest Maria..." Max's voice sounded flat and detached as his eyes lingered over his beloved, he then cast a glance around him at the fear induced haze that now fell over his family. "We need to stop for the night, Michael take the lead and pull over at the first available motel, Tris you take up the middle and do me a favor, give Langely a call, tell him we should be arriving tomorrow evening and that I want a full report from him ASAP..." carefully he lifted Liz into his arms, and placed her gently onto the backseat of the jeep, "Alex..." he quickly dug out his keys and threw them over to his friend, "...you drive."

Everyone nodded and headed off to their respective cars ready to head out, only a few stragglers held back still to preoccupied with Liz's condition to move from sight of her sleeping figure.

Zan was pacing like a mad man, he knew how much the visions took a toll on her body, he remembered the handful of times that he'd found Alexia passed out cold on the palace floor, her body nearly completly drained. A shiver raced through his body, as an image of Alexia's prone body flashed before him, 'Fuck dis' he cursed silently and was about to make his way over to Liz when he felt a hand restraining him. He turned a feiry gaze on the culprit, ready to attack, but bit his tongue when he saw Ava's pleading blue eyes.

"Zan let it be, he's got'er, he aint gonna let nuthin happen to'er."

Letting out a sigh, Zan wrapped an arm around her shoulder and both made their way over to Maria's jetta, soon they were all on the road again. All conversation seemed to have died with the nights events, and now a deafening silence loomed over the Royal's. Whatever had caused Liz's vision left them with mixed emotions, was it a warning, a way to prevent the upcoming disaster, or was it already too late, was their fate already written in stone and this was just a cruel glimpse at the
inevitable.

*****************************

The night wind bitterly lashed at her hair, causing it to dance with wild abandonment, whipping at her cheeks mercilessly, if she'd had any sense left, she would walk right back to her room and find shelter amoungst the cotton pillows and sheets that adorned her makeshift bed. A small corner she'd seperated, away from the crowd, a tiny piece of carpet that belonged to her, if only for one night. Yet to many thoughts clamored for attention pulling her away from sleeps timeless oblivion, so quietly she'd crept out of the room they'd all scrounged together to share, and found herself alone once again.

I bitter laugh escaped her lips as she remembered all the nights, she wandered aimlessly through the empty alleys and streets of New York, it seemed she found herself alone her entire life. Tristan would plead with her, concerned that the streets weren't safe, but with a flick of her wrist she quickly dispelled any further argument. Tristan...he was her family, he'd proven himself countless times to her, never faltering, his love never wavering or flickering out, she cursed her heart for being so fickel. She knew that there would never be another for her, her heart beat only for him, and yet she continuously pushed him away. She was nothing more than a coward, a weak and scared little girl.

'Oh if Father could see me now...' Serina's mind taunted her own weary heart.

"Hey what are you doing out here?" A familiar voice drifted from behind her, causing her to jump around, arm up posed for an attack.

Max quickly brought his hands up in submission, "Don't shoot its just me..."

"Shit Duke, yous scared da crap outta me, I coulda taken your head off, are yous crazy!?" Serina chided before approaching him.

"Sorry...I needed some air and noticed you were out here too...but if you want to be alone I could..." Max felt flustered, he'd never really clicked with Liz's sister, to much bad blood still flowed between them, concerning the past.

She couldn't help but smirk at the way he rambled and timidly looked down at his shoes, it amazed her how he could appear the self assured king and the small frightened boy all at the same time. "Nah, its cool Max, Iz just couldn't sleep, yous know both my brothers snore like truckers, and following in der foot steps Liz aint to far behind."

They both laughed at the image of those three snoring up a symphony, even Maria and Isabel had both given up all hope of sleeping in the same bedroom and joined the rest of gang out in the livingroom. This left only Max and Serina in the bedroom and it now seemed that they'd also given up hope of finding rest aswell, "They do tend to get a little loud, I can handle Liz alone, but add to her both Alex and Michael and you could wake the dead with the ruckus they cause."

Again both teens found themselves caught up in a fit of laughter, which helped to alleviate the tension between them, and soon they both found themselve's in a companionable silence. When Max turned his breath caught suddenly, he'd never really noticed the similarities between Serina and Liz, but in the moonlight she appeared almost identicle, if he didn't share such a profound connection of her sister, he'd swear they were one and the same.

"What?" Serina asked feeling alittle self conscious at the way he was staring at her.

Max shock his head and tried to blink away his thoughts, "Sorry, its just I never noticed how much the two of you look alike."

"Yeah I know it is kinda creepy, if it weren't for da hair and eyes, we could pass as clones, but hey yous know all about dat, I mean its major bizarro the whole Zan and Rath deal, but I guess its worse for yous, since they technically are yous. Atleast for all accounts me and Liz are two seperate people, wes just look alike, but Zan is you and you is him, hows dat feel?" she was actually really curious for his take on the whole dupe issue, Michael had been no help, saying that he and Rath shared no similar DNA, and then quickly ending the conversation.

Zan was a touche subject, though he'd never really done anything to cause friction in the group, the way he was always staring at Liz, seemed to rub him the wrong way, that and it didn't help that Liz had the brilliant idea to use Zan in her planned attempts to control the heat. Jealousy reared it's ugly head once more as he imagined the scenarios that played out during one of their study sessions. Serina's deliberate cough brought him back to the conversation, "It's obivously weird, but despite the fact that we share the same essence, we are completly oppisite, I don't see myself when I look at him, and I'm positive he sees no resemblence in me either. Yet in other aspects we are more the same than I'd like to admit..."

"Yous mean Liz right..." Max nodded and looked away, his eyes lingering on the neon lights that flashed vacant in the night. "Duke she aint never going to confuse the two of yous, he maybe your dupe, but yous the real deal. Liz always felt it, she's told me so herself, she's always felt yous, when we hatched, yous were the only soul dat called to her, not his but you."

Max smiled with appreciation at her words, he knew she was trying to ease his doubts, and the moment was endearing to him, it felt like they finally pushed past a few of those obsticles thay lay tattered between them. Taking this opportunity to say a few choice words of his own, he turned a serious gaze towards her. "Serina, I can't remember the past, only bits and pieces filter through my mind, but I do know that I wronged many in that other life, but known more than you and my brother. It seems my chance to make amends with him are gone for now, but to you I give my sincerest apologies, and I vow to never allow what befell us all to once more repeat itself."

His declaration left her stunned, in that one instance, she knew without a shadow of a doubt that Max was a far greater king than Zannos could ever hope to be. "Thanks Duke, Iz know I've been a bit shady around yous, but Iz was just afraid you were da same ol'Zannos, but now's Iz know you aint him, yous Maxwell Evans, and dat is far greater than any of us could ever hope for in a King." She met his gaze with a smile, "Now lets get back before deys send the search party out after us.."

Dusting themselves off, the pair headed back to the motel, and just as Serina had predicted Michael and Isabel were both up at arms with worry, and had no trouble in expressing that worry in very loud decibles...repeatedly.

************************

The Royal's reached New York the following day at around 4 in the afternoon, and the group could not be happier, whatever fate had in store for them, atleast for the time being they were off, of the road.

For the Roswell crew the big city was overwhelming to say the least, coming from the likes of Roswell, New Mexico, it was definately a culture shock, but the others took in the sights as a breath of fresh air. They were finally home, and could not be happier.

"So where do go from here?" Isabel asked she'd been hovering close to Alex, afraid to leave him for a second, since Liz's premonition.

Tristan elbowed Serina, which caused her to yelp and throw him a menacing glare, to which he only smirked and tilted his head towards Max, "We's can crash at our place, ders plenty of room and it aint to far from the bright lights of Manhattan."

"You sure Serina, cause it really isn't a problem to find a motel or something..."

"Look Duke yous aint gonna be able to afford no motel up here for more than a day, and plus deys aint safe..." Tristan let out a sigh, before meeting Max's eyes sincerely, "...we's got the room, and its our safest option."

"Thank you..." Max gave them both his gratitude then easily slipped once more into leader mode, "Zan, you take Rath and Ava and check out your place, if there is anything of use to us bring it with you, but keep an eye out. If there is any sign of Lonnie or Tess you keep your distance, follow them and try to maintain survaillence, but do not compromise your location...understand?"

"Epic...so we'll meets yous back at Rina's in 2 hours..." Zan confirmed before the three headed off into the city.

"Alex I need you and Michael to round up Langley, make sure he actually has something worthy to report back, before you make your presence known. Same goese for you two if anything feels out of place you abort and keep watch but make no attempts at contact." Max's tone left no room for arguement the brothers nodded in understanding before heading out.

"Max maybe I should go with them, you know just in case they need back up?" Isabel chimed in just as Michael turned to acknowledge her comment with a knowing smirk.

"Yeah, back up right..." he huffed, but quickly snapped his mouth shut at the glare in Isabel's gaze.

"Sure Izzie, just be careful, and report back when you've located Langley."

"Yo Duke, how's about yous three get the lay of the land, me an Tris will pick up some supplies, then meet you back here in an hour." Serina offered, she'd noticed the tension rolling off both Max and Liz, and knew they needed some time to unwind. "Mouth, yous keep an eye on dem, makes sure they actually relaxe..."

"Oh yeah give me the hard job, these two relax...not in this lifetime..." Maria teased an earned herself a smack from Liz in the process.

"Come on your majesties, time to have some fun..." Latching onto both Max's and Liz's arms Maria led the way, for now things were quiet and she was prepared to enjoy every last minute of calm.

Hey Everyone I know I've Been GoNE for a While but Things have finally Calmed down and I've Been AbLe to UpDate...ThAnks FOr your PAtiencE and WithOUt FurthEr Ado The NExt Chpt....LEt ME knOW What Ya ThiNks...

Chapter 23

"Maybe this was a bad idea..."

Liz couldn't help but smile as she watched her boyfriend squirm, "Come on Max you've been looking forward to this all day..." hooking an arm around his waist, she snuggled against him, counting the tings that passed by each floor.

"God...could you guys just pretend not to be soo in Love...it was fine at first but now I kinda get what Isabel means...EWW!" Maria teased the pair good naturedly, which earned her two menacing glares in return.

Suddenly the elevator came to a stop, and the trio stepped out into the most breathtaking view they'd ever been witness too.

"Wheww...now that's what I call being ontop of the world..."

"Maria..." Liz grunted at her cornball comment, then taking Max's hand she led them both over side of the building, "So what do you think?"

He took an appreciative look around, gasping at the marvelous view infront of him, it never ceased to amaze him just how small he really was in comparison to the world around him. It was actually quiet humbling, but it also gave him a stronger regard to protect this world, Earth was his home now, not some faraway planet he'd never set foot on. Turning he watched contendedly as both Liz and Maria giggled and laughed, while gazing out onto New Yorks busy metropolis, "You know Maria had a point, this does feel like I'm ontop of the world."

Liz rolled her eyes, and wrapped her arms around his waist, "Well don't let it go to your head highness, you maybe a king, but I still wear the crown in this relationship."

"Oh really..."Max fained hurt, and turned abruptly out of Liz's reach, when his gaze landed on Maria, she caught the mischiveous glint in his eye, and bit back a giggle.

"Ahh come on Max don't be mad, I was just teasing...Max no...don't even..." Liz stood by helpless, as Max lunged at her fingers nimble and ready for the attack. "Please baby I promise..." she quickly ducked behind Maria, "...to make it up to you..."

"Hey, keep me out of your strange foreplay..." Maria groaned and jumped out of the way, just as Max closed in on Liz.

Pinning her easily to the plastic viewing sheild, Max attacked, but decided a better vengence would be extracted from her lips, and he took great pleasure in exacting it. "You know Ms. Parker, I think you need a serious attitude adjustment..." his fingers danced lightly over her bare midrif, as his lips trailed fiery kisses down her neck.

What started innocently enough as a simple teasing game, soon had her gasping for breath as her heart pounded furiously in her chest, "Max...don't start what you can't finish..." She watched delighted as Max's eyes darkened to an ebony shade of lust before melting back to their normal amber pools.

Max knew that it would not be in anyone's best interest to continue his advances, especially when all he wanted to do was throw Liz down and claim her infront of all these unsuspecting humans. So instead he reigned in his desires and gave Maria some lame excuse, before dragging Liz to the nearest elevator.

"You are so bad Max Evans..." Liz gasped when Max wasted no time in attacking her lips, "Umm...you know this elevator...ahh...is going to stop at...some point..."

Pulling his mouth away from her neck briefly, Max aimed a hand at the control panel, purposely jamming them in between floors, "There now we have all the time in the world, so where was I..."

"Max..." Liz moaned and soon the pair were both lost within the fiery depths of each others desire, oblivious to the world around them, it was only the two of them in this moment.

******************

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE LOST THEM!"

The roar of his voice boomed throughout the room, causing his attendants to quiver with fear, and Nicholas to flinch in anticipation, "Highness, we have our best trackers out searching, and it is only a matter of time before we have a lock on their location..."

Khivarr flung a hand out instantly silencing his second by flinging him into a wall across the room, "Time...time is a luxury we don't have Niko, or did you forget the queen will soon come into her full power." he sneered before calmly walking back to his position by the open window.

Shaking off the pain that bit into his side from where he struck the wall, Nicholas straightened himself before his king, "Majesty, please forgive my igonorance and know that I will take personal responsibility for finding the Royal's." he bowed his eyes glued to the floor.

"Oh Niko, my ever faithful lap dog, you truly are a spineless wonder, but ever the loyal follower..."Khivarr sneered in disgust before he turned obsidien eyes on his general, "Now...GO! and do not return without the Royal's location."

"Highness..." Nicholas bowed once more before heading out.

Once the door clicked shut, Khivarr let his eyes linger over the vast New Mexico desert, his surroundings were vaguely reminescent to his home world Corino, and briefly images of a long gone past danced before his eyes, as a sigh escaped his lips.

'If only things could've been different...' the words echoed through his mind, but it was only a vague impression reverberatting around his heart. He no longer had the depth to feel such trivial regretts, his emotions had long since died out, replaced with only a bitter cold vengence.

Letting himself fall back onto a chair, his shoulders sagged slightly, as the years of war and deciet took their toll, but the moment only last a brief second and soon his impenerable mask was securely in place once more.

************************

His eyes slowly wandered over wretched expanse he'd once called home, it was hard to imagine that this was the extent of his world, the city sewers. He'd never paid any mind to his living arrangements before, or to the fact that he was nothing more than a street urchin, stealing just to get by. Yet after being in her presence he knew he'd never be able to return to this life, she gave him the desire to better himself, if only to be worthy of standing at her side.

"Yo Zan, you ready?" Ava called out from behind him.

"Yeah I'm set, lets bounce..."

"Rath yous ready?"

"Sure thing duke..." Rath answered with a sneer. Just because he had to play nice with the cornball Royal's didn't mean he had to reconnect with the fam. aswell. He gave one final glance over his shoulder, to what was left of his old life, and shrugged.

Even Ava couldn't help but let the moment bring back a dozen fleeting memories, this was her home, as pathetic as it was, these sewers held her past, from the moment she broke free from her pod, til only a few months ago. She watched Zan as he picked through what little belongings they owned, her heart felt heavy, she'd been dreading each new day, fearing that she'd lose the fragile hold she had on him. She'd felt him slip away a little each day since they'd arrived in Roswell, and he'd seen her, his true queen.

"Yo Aves, we out."

Wiping away a stray tear she straightened herself before turning to him, "Yeah aight, Iz heard ya..."

Together the trio trudged out of the sewers, each lost in their own thoughts, and each fully aware that they'd never set foot in these sewers again.

**********************

"Hey...Yo Rina deys here..."

"Yeah aight Tris, I'll be right out..." she called back through the open fire escape. When she'd arrived home a couple of hours ago, she and Tristan had both worked nonstop to get the place ready for the crew, and they'd managed to get everything finished in less than an hour. After which she'd excused herself for some much needed down time, and a well deserved hot bath.

Thoughts of Ciyan plagued her, all of sudden every fear and concern she'd so dilligently pushed aside since his departure slammed into her with a fury. Serina felt the weight of it, suffocating her, as her heart cried out for him. Despite everything he'd done, she couldn't turn her back on him, they were family, and you don't just quit on your family.

'Why Ciyan...yous could've come to me...We'z coulda handled dis shit together...' she whispered to the wind, and slowly climbed back through her open window.

Already she could hear the grumbling coming from the living room, apperantly Zan and his crew arrived at the same time as Lexi and Max, and something was about to break.

"Look why don't you back the fuck off!" Max growled stepping up to his dupe.

"What's wrong duke, yous can't let sweets over der decide for herself..." a half smirked played on his lips caustically, "...what yous too afraid she'll get a taste of a real man and dump your lame ass..."

Serena watched transfixed as Max's jaw clenched and his fist cocked back, she was more than prepared for the blow that was about to knock Zan on his ass, when a slivery blue sheild halted his progression mid swing. She was stunned for maybe a second before she glanced to the side, and caught the fury set a blaze in her sister;s eyes.

"ENOUGH!" Liz roared quickly silencing the entire room.

Now, though Serina was technically the eldest of the two, she knew better than to piss her lil'sister off, and right now she was two seconds away from full on meltdown unless someone intervined.

"Yo if Iz was you two, I'd definately sit down and shut the fuck up, cause yous maybe 'da man', but der aint nuthin more scary den a pissed off alien queen." Serina commented under her breath as she cautiously tipped-toed over to her sister. Lacing an arm around her shoulder, she along with Maria led an irate Liz into the other room.

"I swear to god, if they don't stop Ima murder them both, and I'll find another King..." Liz fumed as the three disappeared into the other room.

Before another word could be uttered Michael came barreling into the room, a shifter securely held in his grip, "Maxwell, Langley has some very interesting news to share with you..." he flung the protector forward, causing him to stumble into the middle of the room, "NOW Spill."

Langley let out a sigh, while picking himself up, "Highness..." he commented before taking stock of the rest of the group, he automatically sought out Alexia and breathed a little easier when he saw her emerge from one of the bedrooms with Maria and Serina in tow. "Since returning I have been in contact with my people and the news is not good..." He paused momentarily trying to reason the right way to divulge the information, that would certainly brand him as a traitor infront of his king, "It seems Khivarr has arrived on Earth with atleast a dozen soldiers, he is working with your brother and the two insurgents."

"FINISH!" Michael commanded his eyes flashing with anger.

"He is aware that you have left Roswell and that you are now here in New York..." Langley remained steadfast his eyes never leaving his king's sights, "...I was his informant."

"What!?"

"How could you, your supposed to be our protector..."

"You Bastard..."

The room broke out in an uproar, everyone voicing their opinions and outrage, only Max and Liz remained silent, "Michael, take Langley into the other room and secure him, Rath you go with him."

Without hesistation the two general's excuted their orders, Max turned to Liz who nodded in silent aggreement, "We move in less than 10 minutes, grab whatever you can carry and only what you can carry. Ava you and Maria sweep the area, if anything feels off, anything at all you phase back here ASAP...Understood?"

"No prob Duke..."

"The rest of you stay cautious and be ready to move on my command..." With his final orders in place Max, accompanied by Liz made his way into the room where Langley was being held.

"That will be all Michael, keep post outside this door, and make sure no one enters."

"Are you sure that's-" before Michael could get his concern out, Max had shut the door, ending anymore discussion.

"Yo don't worry duke, deys got dis shit under control." Rath commented before taking his spot next to Michael at the door.

Inside both Max and Liz silently debated as to what was the best way to proceed, neither taking their eyes of the shifter, once an agreement was reached it was Liz who spoke first.

"Langley you are to contact Niko again, set up a meeting..." Liz knew well enough that Max would never agree to the next part of the plan but it was essential, if she was going to save her brother's life. "When everything is in place you will contact me and we will commince with the trade..."

"NO! Liz I've made myself very clear on that point, we're not going through with that plan."

"Max you know it's the only way to get Ciyan back and also throw Khivarr off our trail, plus I wont be alone Langley will be there to protect me."

"NO, Liz I'm sorry but it's too dangerous and I wont allow it."

Though she'd tried to be patient, understanding his fears for her, she was tired of being treated like property, "Max I'm not asking your permission, we are going through with the plan and that's final."

He was about to protest again when a knock at the door ended their debate.

"Um...guys everyone's outside and waiting on your next order." Michael quickly ducked back out of the room, forcing the up an coming battle of wills to be put on hold.

Never missing a beat, Liz quickly hurried out of the room, throwing Langley a meaningful glance before walking out. She'd almost made it all the way out, before she felt a hand halting her escape, and there was no denying who it belonged to.

"We aren't done here Liz." Max's low growl penetrated her calm exterior, forcing her to meet his heated gaze. Pulling out of his grip, she straightened herself before walking out towards the others, Langley at her heels, and Max trailing angerly behind.

It was time to set the next part of their plan in motion which meant pulling off a massive mind-warp on their family, and though Ava was on point with them, it still felt wrong to decieve them all purposely. Liz gave Ava a sympathetic smile, and stepped up beside her, she'd need to connect with the punked queen and feed her, her energy in order to pull this off.

"We's ready duke so how's you want to do dis?" Zan asked as he plopped down on the couch.

Though he was far from enthusiastic with the way the plan was playing out, Max followed through with his part, and as he was about to address the group, Ava started the warp.

"Go Langley, and remember this has to be flawless, make sure no one suspects a thing." Liz carefully handed Langley a cell phone, and bid him goodbye.

"Highness..." he bowed to Liz, "...Majesty..." he bowed yet again this time to Max.

"Langley I promise you, if this is all an elaborate set up, and some ill fate befalls Liz or anyone in my family, there will be no force in heaven or hell that will prevent me from hunting you down and flaing you alive..." Max whispered menacingly, find an odd sense of comfort in the shivers of fear that ran down the old protectors skin.

Once Langley was out of sight, Ava was instructed to let down the warp...

"...we move now. Everyone clear on their part." Max picked up after Ava's warp disolved, and flawlessly stepped into the converstation.

"Alright you heard his majesty lets move out." Alex announced as he and Isabel made their way to the door.

"Hey where's the shifter?" Maria asked suddenly, to which both Liz and Max answered, "He wont be a problem anylonger..." and with that they all left Serina's apartment ready to embark on the next legg of their journey. It'd be a long grueling battle, but with a little luck and alot of faith they'd make it through the darkness and hopefully find their way into the light of a new day.

*******************************

"Majesty, the protector has just checked in, and is proposing a trade sire." Nicholas quickly informed his eyes cast down as he bowed before his king.

"A trade is it, and what is it he is offering?" Khivarr smirked his interest clearly peaked at the proposition.

"Highness, he is offering Alexia in return for Zan's little brother."

Khivarr let the information sink in, turning over each piece of the puzzel, whatever Zan had planned definately included the shifter and if he was willing to put Alexia in the crossfire, he either had an ace in the hole or was playing a blind man's bluff. "Play along with his request, but continue survilance, I want to know what Zan is planning. Oh and Niko make sure to kill the shifter as soon as the message is relayed."

"As you wish Highness." with another bow Nicholas walked out.

To many days and nights of plotting and revenge were now weighing heavely on him, the years spent in his pursuit of the Royals had not been kind, and now with vengence so close at hand, it all seemed like an absurd dream. Truth be told he'd often questioned his own desires, and their relevance in the greater scheme of things. He'd been King for almost a decade, longer in Earth years but still it held no true glory, because Zan still breathed and held the only treasure worth possesing.

'Alexia...' her name dripped from his lips, syrupy sweet and full of desire.

With a vision of her face firmly planted in his thoughts, Khivarr turned towards the trembling mass tied to the foot of his bed. Long ebony hair cascading down her back, from a distance she could almost pass for a long lost queen. With a sneer on his lips he shut the door behind him.

*******************

"Dis is a bad idea, yous know Maxie boy is going to bust a nut when he catches wind, and whos goin to get the brunt of it..." Ava turned a skeptic eye towards her cousin, "...Iz will, dats who."

"Ave's you know his bark is worse than his bite, and this is the only way to get into Khivarr's camp." Liz responded trying to ease Ava's doubts to no avail. They'd managed to sneak out of the groups watchful eye, but she was sure they only had minutes before their absence was spotted. "I just need you to give me 15 minutes, after that drop the warp and try and explain your part in this to the group..." Liz watched amused as Ava's eyes grew round with disbelief, "...fine then tell them I ordered you as your queen and you had no choice but to follow orders."

"Liz yous know dis aint about following orders or nothin like dat, yous my family and no matter what Iz always got your back."

With a quick hug, Liz started her trek towards the enemy camp, she wouldn't look back, in case she lost her nerve. No matter how she weighed her options, this was the only plan of attack that seemed fisable. As she walked on her thoughts turned to the past, to her past...

Flashback...

"You know cousin, some might call it improper for a lady to walk unattended."

Alexia jumped in fright, as she turned to find an unfamiliar face paired with a voice she'd grown accustomed to over the years, "...Khivarr...?" she asked cautiously taking in the handsome features of the man before her. His face was flawless, ageless in its beauty, only his eyes gave away the truth of his years and maturity, and though he was nearly a foot above her, his build was not overbearing, but rahter secure in it's size. The cerilium of his eyes, and the blonde scattered through his hair was a family trait she could not deny and when he smiled his assurance she knew it was true.

"Have you forgotten me already dear cousin, careful or I might take offense to your indifference." He teased before enveloping her in a hug.

Finding a strange sense of comfort in his arms, Alexia replayed her fathers demands on her impending nuptials, perhaps this choice would not be as horrible as she once expected. "It's been a long time cousin, how fares your family, I hear Avaria is soon to take her vows at the Temple of Isis."

Walking hand in hand, Khivarr led her to a near by bench, "Yes, though I am still not quiet sure that mother will survie her absence. Now enough about my dear sister, how have you been." he asked, completly enthralled in her presence.

"I've been well, um...yes quiet well..." her words faded into the silence of the mid afternoon sunlight, as she stared off into space lost in the moment.

He'd been kept up to date with her comings and goings, he was well aware of her tryst with Zan, as well as her father's proposal to have her married off to either one of the ruling houses. His own house being one of the contenders, between Serina and Alexia, he perfered the later, she was the first born daughter heir to the throne. She was also the profisized Zenith in coming a power that would rival the gods would be his to wield, with her at his side, and he was well aware of the implications. This was a move that needed to be played with complete restraint and precision, a role he could efficiently pull off.

"Lexi, I know of your father's request, and nothing would make me happier than to have you by my side, as wife and queen, but if your heart is not ready, then allow me the oppurtunity to win your favor..." he gently cupped her chin bringing her gaze up towards him, "...all I ask is a chance."

The moment hung with anticipation, as his lips slowly decended, "LEXI!" Serina's voice cut through the fog, causing her to jerk away.

"I'm sorry Khivarr, please try and understand...I just need some time..."

And with that said she dashed away, never looking back, never noticing the sneer that spread over his lips, or the glint of mischieve that shone in his eyes.

End Flashback....

Lost in thought she barely registered the headlights headed straight for her, and just nearly avoided being run down, "HEY WATCH IT!" she cursed while stumbling to the ground.

The car screeched to a halt only a few feet away, and the occupants were pleasantly surprised by their unexpected fortune. A leggy blonde stepped out first, the frost in the air surronding her caused the temperature to drop a few degrees in the mid morning heat.

"Well, well look what wes got here?"

Following suit the two other occupants of the car stepped out, the second female was smaller in height but rivaled her counterpart in icy malice, the third was the only male of the group, and though his appearance was rough and ragged, the molten amber that bore into the young queen nearly burned her alive. Carmel pools so very familiar she could almost see her beloved in those eyes, "Tristan..."

"Hello Alexia, what a lovely surprise cousin, you have saved us all the trouble of kidnapping you." Tess's viper-like tongue hissed.

Tristan remained silent, but his eyes never left her sight, before him stood the woman who'd captured his heart, and destroyed him all with the same breathe.

"Enough with all dis staring, ders someone whose just dying to see yous, so lets get a move on your 'highness'." Savagely yanking her arm, Lonnie dragged Liz to the car and literally jammed her into the backseat. Once they were all in the wheels screeched a retreat and the car sped off.

***********

"SHE DID WHAT!!!" Max roared causing several small boulders to burst into dust.

"Maxwell relax man, lets just hear her out..." Michael bite out through clenched teeth, trying to remain level headed, a position he was finding himself having to fill more and more these days.

His world was suddenly flipped and turned on its side, once the warp dropped and the connection faded he nearly passed out from the pain. It seemed their protectors failed to warn them of the dire circumstances surrounding their newly opened connection and its implications regarding distance. Even Zan being his duplicate was affected, knowledge that didn't help his anxities, but that was a subject for another time and place. For now his sights were solely focused on Ava and her part in Liz's idiotic plan.

"FINE...Fine...Ava what exactly did she say?"

The others huddled around her, both eager and fearful of what they were about to hear, only Zan stayed away. He was busy trying to lock on to her signature, using Serina like an amp to his powers, they were both slowly scanning the surrounding area. Ava couldn't seem to swallow the lump that was permanently lodged in her throat, and the death glares that both Max and Michael were sending her way, well lets just say she was thankful laser vision wasn't one of their special powers or she'd be toast right now.

"Look Iz already told yous guys, dis was Liz's idea and once she gets her mind set on something, der aint no changing it. Plus it was a direct order, Iz can't go against it and neithers can any one of yous...well cept Maxie boy. Dats why Iz had to use the warp, if she'd have known bout dat freaky connection thing den Iz sure she'd have done things different..." Ava tried to explain, but her words did little to ease any of the groups anxieties, aswell as her own, not only was Liz alone in enemy territory but paired with the symptons due to the connection she feared her cousin would be defenseless against Khivarr.

"Max what are we going to do?" Maria hesistantly asked her face buried against Michael's chest.

"Zan and Serina are locking on to her location as we speak, for right now we pack up and ready ourselves to leave as soon as they find her. Maria, I need you to rest, we will be phasing all at once..." The look of pure disbelief in her eyes, did nothing to discourage him, "...we will all feed you our energy, just please trust me I know you can do this. Rath..." His eyes locked on to his second's dupe, "...take Alex and Ciyan and scoure the area, if anything seems out of place scan it for clues, maybe we can get a feel of what their intentions were, right before they picked her up."

"No prob duke, wes on it..."

Only Michael remained at his side, both locked in amiable silence, both praying to whatever gods existed that Liz was somehow safe where ever she was.

"We'll find her Max..." Michael commented as he stared out into the abysmal darkness.

He could only nod, unable to really focus on his surroundings his body literally ached from the absence of her presence. Every cell in his body screamed for her, and he was clueless on how to remedy the situation, he only prayed that Zan and Serina got a lock on her soon.

Chapter 24

The pain was slowly driving her insane, her muscle's coiled and burned yet no matter how hard she tried to relax there was no remedy. The others were clueless as to why she'd fallen ill, only Tess it seemed held any knowledge, but she kept her mouth shut tight, enjoying the show and laughing at her cousins misfortune. They'd only just arrived at the Camp when Liz fell to the floor withering in agony, a cold sweat poured off her body and her skin burned to the touch.

"Whats wrong wit her?" Tristan asked terrified at the thought of losing her.

Lonnie looked on in interest, they'd been engineered to overcome any earth bound ailment, yet here was one of their own suffering some sort of illness, "Yo we aint suppose to get sick, dis shit don't make sense. You being awfully quiet over der blondie, what you know that yous aint telling us."

She'd tried to remain passive, not wanting to give to much away, this was perhaps the most fun she'd had in awhile, unfortunately Lonnie caught on to quick and now her fun was over, "She's suffering the seperation from her bonded mate, apperantly our little Alexia has already bonded herself, and my guess would be Zan as the lucky husband."

"No...that can't be, yous said she was to be my mate, my queen..." Tristan proclaimed looking like he'd just been punched in the face.

"Well it looks like yous too late again lil bro, but not to worry Iz sure that once we get rid of Zan she'll be all yours again..." Lonnie tried to nullify the situation that was slowly brewing, without Tristan their plan to take down the royal's would be useless.

Catching on to Lonnie's train of thought Tess jumped into action, she eased her way into Tristan's mind, careful to not alert him, and cleared away his doubts. She left a wisp of hope and solidified the blocks already in place. "It'll all work out Tris, just try and stay focused..."

Though the pain was slowly subsiding it was only a temporary relief, each move she made only left her trembling in agony, and suddenly a thought struck her like a punch in the gut. If she was in this much pain, then it was safe to assume that Max was also feeling the same escruciating symptoms, Liz sent out a small prayer that his suffering would lessen soon enough and pushed herself up out of Tristan's arms.

"Where is Khivarr?" she softly asked and before the others could utter a word, the doors to the suite opened revealing non other than the angelic tyrant himself.

"My, my Alexia you look absolutely horrible, feeling under the weather?" his voice was melodically smooth as it drifted over to her.

Using every last ounce of will power, Liz pushed down the pain and stood her ground, her head held high she squared off against her cousin, "Not to worry dear cousin I am perfectly fine, I see the years have been gracious to you, though it seems to be at the expense of my people."

His eyes locked on her, Khivarr circled her like a ravenous beast itching to attack, "Your people? That's cute, you aren't even real, a duplicate of a dead queen, with your carbon copy court. Oh my dear sweet Alexia, you are in no position to lay claim to any one's throne."

She was about to throw out a witty come back when the pain shot through her like a bullet, causing her to double over and nearly tumble to the ground. Luckily Tristan was close enough to catch her.

"Aint der nothin yous can do?" he pleaded as he cradled Liz close to his body.

Khivarr caught sight of Tess smiling to herself in the corner, "Ava dear why don't you inform the others of what has you in such a pleasant disposition."

Suddenly every eye in the room was staring at her, causing Tess to gulp, "The pain will pass soon enough, her body is just finalizing the mating process, and without her bonded mate at her side to ease the transformation the feelings of pain intensify."

"Hows do you know that, and why haven't yous said somethin before?" Lonnie snickered her eyes darting back and forth between Tess and Liz.

Tess rolled her eyes, she was sick of Lonnie's attitude, actually she was just sick of Lonnie period, "Nacedo trained me well, and that included a thorough understanding of mating and bonding."

"Yeah I bet..."

"What's that sunshine, a witty come back even in your frail state, ever the trooper Lexi."

"Ever the hianous bitch Ava!" Liz spat her eyes burning with fury directed solely at Tess.

Though he was enjoying their catty behaivor Khivarr stepped in before things got out of hand, "Ladies lets try and keep things civil..." He stood infront of Tristan and before either could protest, he snatched Liz into his arms, "Now Lexi, how about we get you situated and I will have one of my healers sent in to check on you."

She was about to argue when another thought crossed her mind, this would be a perfect oppurtunity to check in with the others, "Fine, I'm alittle tired anyways."

"The rest of you, are on patrol, I am sure Zan and the royal's will be scouring the area searching for clues, throw them off her sent and keep a watch. Report back to me with any new developements."

With their orders in hand the trio split, and as Liz watched Tristan's back fading into the night she sent out prayer that the gods keep him safe and lead him back to his real family. Perhaps this was her oppurtunity to not only inflitrate Khivarr's base but to also guide a lost soul home to his family.

*************

"DAMN IT!" a shockwave of power shot out around him, sending fragments of rock and debris into the air.

"Yo duke watch out.." Serina ducked and avoided a piece of rock that flew inches from her face. She couldn't really blame him, she was feeling just as inadequate and frustrated as the wayward king, but one of them needed to keep collected and that job was by default her's in this predicament.

"Sorry..." Zan apologized and scooted away from her. Though he'd agreed with the decision that as a pair they'd be the most efficient in locating Liz, everytime he looked at her it felt like his heart was breaking. She was the mirror image of his heart's desire and knowing that he'd never get to feel that love in return was slowly driving him insane.

Serina could feel the tension like a vice gripping at her, she wasn't blind and like the rest of the gang she was well aware of Zan's feelings towards her sister. It was a crappy situation and it sucked that he was in it, but there was nothing any of them could do. "So Iz think that our best shot is to connect and both try and reach her toghether..."

He hesitated, unsure if he wanted Serina in his head, but it was his need to find her that finally had him giving in, "Alright, but keep outta my private thoughts, got it."

"Yeah, yeah no worries, Iz really don't wanna know what's got you so pissy..." Setting herself up beside him, she attempted to form a light connection, but was in for the shock of her life, when she was pulled forcefully into his subconscious.

She felt as is she were drowning in quicksand, unable to get her bearings as Zan's turbulent emotions engulfed her. It never occured to her, that he could be in such much pain and confusion, her thoughts turned to pity and she felt him mentally shove her out. Gasping for breath Serina tried to pull herself togethe rwhile Zan pulled away harshly.

"I told yous to stay outta my private thougths, and Iz don't needs your PITY!" he spat at her. He'd be damned before he let anyone pity him, yeah he'd gotten the short end of the stick but he'd never let anyone feel sorry for him. He was a king, past, present, and future, regardless what the world thought, he knew his heart, and it was not the heart of a reject duplicate.

"Zan..."

"Stop...look Iz sorry for shoving yous out, but maybe we should try a different approach." He hated the look of remorse shadowing her eyes, "...look Rina, just forget it, lets get back to work...okay?"

Serina knew he was a proud man, and it killed him to have anyone feel sorry for him, she knew his anger was a defense mechanism and was thankful for the reprieve, "Sure duke no prob..."

Zan nodded and absent mindedly picked up a pebble from the ground at his feet, he was thrown into a vision...

Flash...

Liz being forcefully thrown into the back of a beat up camaro.

Lonnie, Tess and Ciyan arguing amongst themselves, "We's taking her to Khivarr and that's final, she's our ticket back home and I aints about to lose my ride, cause yous got a bonner for your brothers mate!" Lonnie snickered which caused Ciyan to turn furious eyes towards her.

"She aint his, and she aint Khivarr's either, she belongs to ME!" Ciyan roared. He was about to blast her when Tess stepped in.

"Hey both of you just chill, look we get back to camp and stick with the plan. Its our best option right now, okay?" she pleaded with the siblings hoping to appeal to their better judgement. She released a shaky breath when they both nodded in aggreement and soon they were all speeding south...

End Flash...

Serina watched as his eyes glazed over and knew right away he was caught in a vision, she waited patiently for it to be over and when he pulled in a gulp of air she jumped to his side. "Yous okay der duke?"

"Yeah...Iz know which way dey went..." Zan managed to get out before he was up and running in the same direction he'd seen the car drive off to in his vision.

"Zan wait up, we's need to tell the others...ZAN!!" Serina called out after him, but it was a futile attempt, chasing after him she quickly dialed Michael's cell.

**************

They'd been a somber bunch, eagerly awaiting any new information on Liz's whereabouts, but nothing had panned out. Michael was on the verge of blowing up, when his cell began vibrating.

"Sup...Hey Rina did-...what...WHAT?!...NO follow him and report back...fine, FINE...Bye" Michael flung his phone sending it soaring into the cold desert night.

"Hey spaceboy wasn't that my cell phone?" Maria chimed in.

"Shit...sorry blondie I'll get you new one...Maxwell we have a problem." Michael easily bypassed Maria's impending outburst, and went directly to Max. "Maxwell we's got a problem, it seems your dupe has gone off on his own on a suicide mission to save Liz..."

"What?!" the gang erupted outraged by the new turn of events.

"I knew trusting him was a mistake..." Max seethed as he threw Ava an accusatory glance, satisfied when the smaller punk shied away hiding behind Rath's overpowering form he continued, "...now he's run off on his own and will probably put Liz in more danger because of it."

"Yo duke Iz sure Zan's got a plan, and back off cause Ave's got nothin to do with dis shit..." Rath stepped up going to bat for his fam.

"Look, everyone cool it, our main concern should be Liz and her safety, Michael..." Alex turned to face his brother, "...you sent Rina to follow Zan right?" Alex waited for his nod and continued, "...good we simply pack up and phase to whatever location she calls us from."

"Wait, wait 'phase'...I thought I told you guys I their was no way I'd be able to transport all of us at one time..." Maria squeeked out, she was still less than confident in her abilities and to even attempt such a feet was inconcivable to her.

Tristan could feel the waves of anxiety and self doubt rolling off his sister and quickly wrapped her in his arms, offering what little support he could give, "Yous can do dis Ina'vay just have alittle faith in ya self, Iz know I do."

The small endearment took her back to simpler times, and made her heart swell with appreciation, "Thank you Vanya..." Maria smiled up at him and held her chin up confidently.

Max who'd been silent throughout the exchange finally roused himself out of this thoughts, "Be ready to move at my command, I am done with insubordination, I will deal with Zan appropriately when we meet up, and I want the rest of you to hear my words and take them to heart. You are my family, all of you, but you are also my unit, a unit for which I am the leader, if you can not follow orders than there is no place for you in this battle. I will not stand for it, and I will not put the unit in danger for someone's ascine attempts at playing hero again, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD!"

The room fell quiet as Max spoke and when his voice rose 3 octaves at the end of his speech the royal's flinched in shame. Finally they all nodded in aggreement and prepared for departure, each praying that Serina's call arrived post haste.

************

"Is the princess resting securely in her chambers?"

"Yes sire, and all preparations have been completed we can begin at your command." the soldier bowed before his king patiently awaiting orders.

A glint of satisfaction danced in his cold azure eyes, his plans were finally falling into place, "Very well, but remember that everything must preceed without a hitch, Alexia must not suspect a thing...Understood?!"

"Yes Sire" with a final bow he set out of the room.

"Hey, Xaldeon what are you up to?"

"Not now Nefritia, please just get back to your post before you get us both thrown in the dungeons." Xaldeon rushed passed his noisy sister in an effort to try and disway her curiousity, but unfortunately she was not easily brushed off.

"Oh come on Xal, the halls are buzzing with news of princess Alexia's arrival, not only that they say she has bonded herself to Zan and finally the prophecy shall be fulfilled. The Queen shall-" before she could finish her thought Xaldeon's hand smothered her words.

"Have you lost your sense, can you imagine what would happen if a loyalist heard you, now please Tia go back to your post." Xaldeon once again insisted his sister return to her post and anxiously waited til she begrudingly disappeared from sight. He knew of the prophecy and he was well aware of Alexia's part in it, yet despite what he believed he was still playing his part in Khivarr's plans to destroy the royal's and subdue his queen. 'Damn it, there is nothing I can possibly do, I am but a lowly servant...Damn me...' Xaldeon silently cursed even as he relayed the orders to the appropriate unit leaders.

Despite his best attempts to distract himself, his thoughts constantly returned to her, Alexia his captive queen. Already Khivarr's devious plan was being set into motion and soon Alexia would be nothign more than a mindless slave at his control, much like Zan's younger brother Ciyan. Although he had confidence in her powers, yet he'd never met a being that was able to withstand a direct attack from Khivarr's highly elite crimson brigade.

Out of all the squadrons that complied the Royal army, the crimson brigade were by far the cruelest and emotionally deviod unit of them all. He'd only been in contact with them on one occasion and it was an experience that had forever changed him...

Flash...

With his enlistment papers in hand, Xaldeon felt the nervous tension roaring through him, he'd never wanted to join the Royal army, but being the son of a lowly Cabaron Farmer, it'd been an honor to be admitted into the ranks and his father would not stand for his refusal. So here he was, fresh off the farm and without a single clue as to what he was suppose to do.

"Papers Recruit!" A voice barked at his side causing him to jump to attention, "You are to go, training hall 5B and speak with Colonel Antevarius."

"Yes Sir."

Once the Drill Sergent vanished from his sight Xaldeon let out a shaky breath, he'd definately need to work on his ability to sense auras, especially in this madhouse.

"Damn it!" he cursed again under his breath as he turned another unfamiliar corner, he'd been wandering around for what seemed like an eternity but every hall appeared identicle to the last.

"You lost newbie?"

"It appears we have ourselves some fresh meat, and the poor dear's wandered into our neck of the woods.."

"How's about we prorperly introduce ourselves..."

Xaldeon felt the air around him crackle with dark energy, and suddenly before him 3 soldiers materialized seemingly out of thin air. They appeared completly harmless, two girls no older than 15 and a boy who appeared even younger perhaps 14 at the most. They were dressed in black fatigues with red embelishments decorating their sleeves and pant legs. Yet though they appeared nothing more than harmless children, the energy surrounding them and emitnating from them was powerful, savagely tearing through his calm resolve.

"I..I seem to be lost..." he managed to studdard out, still transfixed to his spot, a shiver of trepidation rolling off him.

"My, my a little lost lamb, I so love to play with little lambs..." the smaller blonde of the trio giggled as she circled Xaldeon, "...can't we play with him Evani, just for a little bit?"

Before he could respond, his world slowly faded from sight, and he found himself standing at the edge of the cliffs of Sardonia, the wind viciously whipping at him causing him to sway dangerously. "How the hell..." he choked on his words as he fell to his knees trembling with confusion and fear. Then just as quick as he was their, he was back at the academy.

"Now that was funny, let me try next..." the boy of the trio announced as he stepped up beside the blonde, "...how's about we erase his entire personal history and create a new one for him, hmmm...I'm thinking a Corinian cave dweller, they are always fun to annoy, or maybe a Sardonian school girl what do you think Ambro?"

The small blonde giggled hysterically, "Oh wow I can almost taste his fear, it is absolutely delicious, I'm so enjoying this..." she licked her lips and ran a finger down his chest.

Fear seemed an innapropriate description of the emotion he was drowning in due to their presence, he trembled uncontrollably and found it increasingly difficult to catch his breath, almost as if the air was to thick to swallow. Luckily for him the commanding officer was not really in the mood to play.

"Enough, we can play with our little lamb some other time, right now our King has requested our units presence..." Evani informed.

"Ahh, oh well see you around newbie..." Ambrosia winked then vanished abruptly from before him.

"I'm sure we'll meet again lost lamb..." Evani blew a swift kiss, "Andreaty I said enough..." she turned gold ringed ametheyst eyes towards the boy. Xaldeon could almost feel the power struggle raging infront of him, but it was clear who was the strongest of the two, and without a word the boy vanished.

~Your lucky newbie, but luck is a fickel mistress, till the next time we meet...Xaldeon..~ the words echoed in his mind even while the boy was no where to be seen, and soon Evani was gone aswell.

Xaldeon fell to his knees a trembling mass of skin and bones, after catching his breath and calming his racing pulse, he quickly found his way to the appropriate hall. The incident had him looking over his shoulder for months, and though he constantly asked his superiors about them, he never recieved a straight answer only lending to the units shady reputation. He never set eyes on the trio again, and would never personally meet with any of the crimson brigade's members for many years after the incident, but still the fear lingered in his heart.

End Flash...

Xaldeon shuddered as the memory faded and he found himself standing mere inches away from the queen's door, he was at a crossroad and as insignificant as he viewed his contributions, perhaps he might be able to atleast give the royal's a heads up. Maybe giving them a fighting chance against Khivarr and who knows he just might find some redemption for his crimes.

***********

The camp was silent, not at all what he was expecting when he'd arrived, it actually appeared more a deserted town than an enemy camp, but for the time being he focused only on her essence. Letting it guide him to her location, "ZAN!" Serina's harsh whisper had him flinching suddenly. "Are yous nuts, yous want to get caught or something?" he reprimanded smothering her mouth with his hand in an attempt to silence any further discussion.

When he was certain she'd stay quiet, Zan removed his hand and continued his search.

Serina was fed up, she'd spent the entire night running after him, only to find him waist deep in the enemy territory, without so much as a plan and now he was reprimanding her. "Am I nuts?" she caustically laughed under her breath, "...Maxie boy's gonna have a field day when he gets his hands on yous. Now lets get outta here and wait for d'others before wes gets ourselves killed." She was tugging at his sleeve hoping to shake some sense into him, but one look into his eyes told her there was no reasoning with him.

"Looks Rina, yous can go back and waits for de others, but Im gonna go grab sweets and get her da hell outta here." He was half expecting her to pitch a fit, but was stunned when she gave in and moved out of his way.

"Iz know ders no arguing with yous, when your minds made up, but let me just say dis is a bad idea, your probably gonna get your fool head shot off and put Alexia in more danger." Serina scanned the area, she spotted 10 skin soldiers around their immediate location, "Der's 10 skins surrounding us, the majority seem to be focused around that building, so its safe to assume deys holdin her der." She scavanged around her pocket until she found her cell phone, "...takes dis and as soon as yous got her call, I'll have mouth phase us to you so wes can get yous the hell outta der."

Zan took the offered phone and regarded the small auburn warrior, "Thanks Rina..."

"Zan becareful, please don't pull some heroric crap, just get in and get out..."

"Not a prob, wish me luck." that said he disappeared into the night, Serina watched him go praying for his safety and once she could no longer see his form she began her slow and tidious walk back out of the town.

'Max and Michael are gonna kill me...' images of her brother's angry tirade flashed in her mind and she shivered with trepidation. She was about a quarter mile up the highway when she felt the air around her charge and shimmer with power. Then just as if they'd always been there the whole pod squad materialized before her. "What da hell?!"

"I did it..." Maria's excited voice cracked as her exhausted form tumbled to the ground.

"MARIA!" the others cried, relieved only when Michael gave a nod signifying she was okay while he cradled her in his arms.

Serina barely had a moment to relax when she heard Max's booming voice calling out, "REPORT SERINA!"

"Yes sire, as far as I was able to confirm the enemy camp is littered with skin soldiers, the majority focusing around a particular building located in the south quadrent of the town. Zann is on reconiscence at the moment and will call with Alexia's location once he derives it." she robotically explained then bowed as she waited for his response.

"Do not make excuses for him, he is no more on reconiscence than we are at the moment, he disregarded a direct order from his king and is now jeoperdizing the entire mission."

"Sire please be linient-" Serina tried to defend her comrade only to be silenced by Michael's abrupt yell.

"SILENCE! You dare talk back to your king, YOU FORGET YOUR PLACE SERINA!"

"I forgive me sire..." she apologized and cast her eyes down in shame.

They were no longer the group of teenagers that left Roswell in hopes of saving their families, but rather they were now a single unit. Memories of hours of training and mission experience now flooded their brains, as they reverted to their soldieristic mind frame. Each member had a specialty and each was deadly in their precision, but as a unit they were a force to be reckoned with, perhaps only riviled by Khivarr's crimson brigade in their efficiency. It was that specific reason that had Max seething, a mistake at this point would mean certain death to one if not all of the unit and casualties of war was just not acceptable at this point.

"At ease Rina, I know this was not your idea, and I also am well aware of Zann's current location and his mind set." Max eased back into the role of cool headed leader, he turned to the other members of his unit, meeting each of their eyes before continuing. "We will carefully review the intel Serina was able to acquire and formulate a plan of attack, and hopefully Zann's actions will not have a determental affect on our final mission. Now take half an hour to regather your thoughts and hone your powers before we leave. Rath, Michael..." he turned to the twin general's, "...make sure Maria is stocked with enough energy to recuperate we will need her phasing powers to get in an out of the camp."

"Max I dont think she can handle two more trips." Michael regarded carefully a sleeping Maria still tucked away securely in his arms.

"We don't have a choice, I'm sorry but she will be ready and you will make sure of this Understood?!"

"Yes Sir" Michael glared but agreed all the same and carefully carried Maria to a small clearing to rest, Rath was soon at his side, and both sentinels stood watch over the peacefully sleeping princess as the others readied themselves for battle.

I'm not sure how many of you guys are still reading this but to those who are and have been ever patient with me, THNKS...

Chapter 25
"This assignment blows."

Evani rolled her eyes, as she took in the sight of her brother, he'd opted for a punked out style, his silvery white locks shortened and spiked with purple highlights frosting the tips. His fatigues were now ripped and patched giving him a street urchinlike appeal, in his nose, he wore a diamond stud that complemented the two in his left ear, he could almost pass for a human teenager if is weren't for his eyes, striking amethyst shards ringed with luminescent gold. Not unlike her own eyes, all three siblings bore the same haunting eyes a family trait she imagined, but that is where the similarities ended, they were all as different as night and day.

"You really need to use proper speech, especially around the men." she countered it was an ongoing battle to get both Andreaty and Ambrosia to take their roles as captains seriously.

"Oh please Vani, who needs respect when we can have pure unadulterated fear at our disposal." Ambrosia's sing-song voice rang into the room. She materialized in a whirlwind of pink satin and blonde curls, and idolic vision of sweet perfection. Where Andy was harsh and punk, Ambro was soft and beautiful, her long mane of springy blonde curls flowed loosely all around her, framing the ageless perfection of her porceline face.

"Both of you need to be more cautious of your actions, this is not the Academy and we are not on Corrino, if Khivarr catches wind of both of your indiscretions there will be hell to pay." Evani warned once more, she was given responsibility not by choice but rather by birth, as the eldest she bore the weight of all their lives. Out of the three she held a subtle beauty that was not to be overlooked, there was an elegance to her stature that could only be described as regal. Her ebony locks fell in messy layers down her back, unlike her siblings her skin was olive in tone and seemed to shimmer with a golden light, her purple eyes were deeper than her siblings switching from violet to grey depending on her mood.

Yet as different as the trio appeared, they held one similarity that could not be mistaken, whether feared or respected the three held the highest position amoung the royal army. Captains of the Crimson Brigade and better yet known as the demons of Carsana, no one is sure how they came into existance, never aging, no family other than each other, and no limit to the power they each were able to weild. Stories of their battles were legend amoung the five planets, their legend only matched by their nightmarish exploits.

"You seriously need to loosen up Vani, Khivarr is only in power because we allow it, and that is soon going to change." Andy casually replied taking an empty seat next to his sister, "...the queen has finally awakened and soon, we shall have a battle worthy of our time." a feral grin spread across his lips.

"I can almost taste her power, so sweet and just about ripe, it's been so long since we had a true fight on our hands, I've grown anxious at the thought of it." her eyes glowing gold with power Ambrosia licked her lips in anticipation.

Their spiking energy only seemed to cause her own desire to rise, she'd been itching for a good fight for quiet some time, years actually and now it was so close she could almost taste it. Soon...soon it would be time to end this charade, and release their true origin, then the worlds would know the meaning of the word fear.

"Let Khivarr have his silly war with the Royal's, our time will soon be realized, and what a magnificent death we will bring them all..." Evani whispered her eyes locked on the door at the far end of the corridor, where the young queen now slept. 'Yes, soon all that'll be left is the destruction that shall follow our coming...'

****************

Her dreams were restless, causing her to flay about anxiously, yet no matter how many times she attempted to wake herself, she only found herself falling deeper into unconsciousness. "Max..." his name fell warily from her lips.

"Why is there no progress?!" Khivarr's voice boomed in the silence of the room.

"Well, this aint some lowly pion, her powers are awakening and she is fighting the imprint." Andreaty casually informed, not even bothering to look up at Khivarr as he spoke.

"Then press harder, I have no time to waste, she will either bend to my will or she will perish in its wake, do I make myself clear." He absolutely dispised working with the Brigade Captains, but at the moment they were his only option.

"Oh please Khivy, if we push her any harder there will be nothing left but mush and then we will have no one to play with....so just sit back and relax we'll let you know when we've finished, okay?" Ambrosia's sweet voice mocked ever so slightly, as she sauntered past Khivarr taking up residence next to her brother.

Fed up with their lack of respect and whimsicle attitude towards him, Khivarr's energy spiked as he prepared to let loose a full out rant, luckily though for his own sake Evani stepped in.

"Khivarr, we will accomplish our goal, we will hand you a complacent and dutiful queen, but it will be on our time table not yours, we know what to do, have we failed you before?" She asked and watched as he physically relaxed a notch before answering no, "...then we will not fail this time either. Now I am sure you have far greater affairs to attend to, other than dealing with three rebellious captains, yes?" Once again he found himself relaxing and answering before walking out, Evani turned cold angry eyes at her siblings.

"Relax Vani, we know, we know...running our mouth and angering the great and mighty king blah blah blah..." Andreaty tossed back unphased by her deliberate display of power. "...oh by the way nice work with the persuasion he wasn't even mildly aware of it's hold, bravo my dear sister, bravo." he clapped caustically causing Ambrosia to giggle and Evani to scowl further in irritation.

"Khivarr is not so simpleminded that he can be so easily fooled, you keep taunting him and eventually he'll catch on to our rouse." Evani warned yet again, but from the mild look of boredom set deep in both her siblings eyes she knew her warnings fell on deaf ears. Blowing out an exasperated breath she fell back onto the couch rubbing the bridge of her nose.

Ambrosia could see the deep umber waves of stress flowing of her sister, and decided to bite her tongue offering her sister an encouraging smile, "Vani, we know what we are doing, we also know how far to push this..." Placing both her hands gently on Evani's temples she eased away the tension, syphering it through her own body til the deep umber, was nothing more than a pale shade of grey.

"Thanks..."

"Don't mention it sis, now lets go take a look at our sleeping queen."

Without another word, the trio entered the darkened room where Liz lay unsuspectingly sleeping...

*************

He was now a man on a mission, and for the first time in far longer than he could remember he felt alive, truly alive, 'Do not fret my queen, I will soon find help...' he vowed solemnly. Lost in thought Xaldeon was unaware of the tail he'd acquired a few halls back...

"You seem awfully preoccupied my dear brother, anything on your mind?"

Caught completly unaware, Xaldeon jumped around shocked to find Nefritia standing infront of him and caustic smile spread across her face, "TIA!...Um what are you doing here?"

Yep, he was definately hiding something, Nefritia thought to herself, "Me?...I'm just heading to the mess hall, and you?"

"Me...um nothing just taking a stroll, you?" he replied anxiously his eyes focused on the floor with interest.

Nefritia furrowed her brow and gave him a look of obvious wonder, "I just told you I'm headed towards the mess hall, Xal what the hell is going on and don't give me so lame story about taking a stroll, I'm not an idiot..." her curiousity was slowly melting into concern over her brother's odd behaivior.

There really was no way around it, even though he would rather keep her out of it altogether, being as pigheaded as she was, Nefritia would just end up digging and probably putting herself in far more danger than if he'd just tell her and be done with it. Blowing out a shaky breath, he refocused his attentions on her, "Fine, but we can't talk here, meet me by the fountain over in the East quadrent in 1 hour."

"Okay..." she agreed and before she could ask anything further he was already out of sight, 'Damn...where'd he go?' she wordlessly questioned, as her eyes scanned the hall, but it was no good, he was gone.

As she continued her trek passing one corridor after another, her mind was running a mile a minute, she took into account every detail of her brother's strange behaivor and her final conclusion was always the same, something was definately wrong. Even his willingness to take her into confidence only seemed to solidify her preconcieved fears, Xaldeon was definately up to no good.

Since he arrived before Nefritia and still had a couple of minutes to spare, Xaldeon used the extra time to set up a deflective sheild that would offer some concealment and privacy from the night guards. Just as he was finishing up, he caught a glimpse of Nefretia's aura before she concealed it and turned just as she was walking up, "Hey..."

"Your getting pretty good at that, practicing much have we?" she teased and allowed him to lead her over to an empty bench close to the dried up fountain. It was perhaps one of the most atrocious structures still standing at camp, chipped and cracked from times ruthless beating, the once prestine mermaid and dolphin pair were now deterioating into a miserable mass of yellow tinged concrete. Nefretia felt a shivers race down her arms and quickly shaffed them away. "So why all the cloak and dagger, what's going Xal?"

With one final scan of the area Xaldeon recounted his intentions to his sister only pausing when he caught the look of shocked intrigue laced through her eyes. "I will go to Zann and relay all that I know and hopefully be of some use in rescuing the queen."

The silence hung heavy in the air and he was just about to ask is she was okay when Nefretia spoke up enthusiastically, "Count me in, when do we start?"

"We...oh no, no, NO, there is no we, you are going back to your barracks and I'm going to the Royal's, understand?" the cold steel in his voice left no room for arguement, but Nefretia was not that easily put off.

"Oh come on Xal, you need me, you can't do this alone, and plus if you get caught who do you think they will go to first for information..." she could tell she was slowly breaking down his resolve and continued, "...so really it will be safer for the both of us if you include me in your plans."

He had to hand it her, when Nefretia got an idea in her head there was no arguing with her, obiviously in over his head trying to argue with her, Xaldeon lamented and finally agreed, "Fine, but I'm in charge, so what I say goes, do you understand Tia, or I swear I'll turn both of us in damn the royals and the queen, your my main concern got it?"

She flew into his arms and fiercly hugged him, "You got it commander, you speak and I'll listen, no questions asked completly understood."

Though he had his doubts that she would oblige by his rules, it was still a slight relief to know he would not have to go this alone. Xaldeon just prayed that the gods smiled down upon them, if only long enough to get the queen to safety.

***********

"NO!!!" she howled out in pain, but there was no white knight, there was no one to save her, she was alone. The darkness was suffocating, slowly swallowing her whole, and despite how hard her legs pumped she never seemed to get any farther away.

'Where is your King? Where are your family and friends when you need them most, poor naive queen, all alone and still you pray for them...' the disjointed voice taunted.

"SHUT UP! That's not true, I left them...I...they're probably on their way here...Max is on his way here...I know it..." Liz finally brokedown falling to her knees in the midst of all the darkness.

'Your a fool, no one is coming for you, resolve yourself to your fate, only one man will ever truly love you, only he can be trusted, your true love...Khivarr...'

Clutching her head in pain, Liz tried desperately to block out the voice but it was useless, "NO!!! MAX IS MY TRUE LOVE...MAX!!!", she cried out in anguish still clutching her pounding head.

The darkness that surrounded her throbbed with unyeilding power, as invisible hands wrapped around her throat constricting her airway and making it difficult for her breathe. Liz fought desperately to free herself from the phantasmic oppressor, but no matter how hard she fought, there was no one there to push away. She was fighting the nothingness within her soul, the doubt, and corruption that plagued her nightmares were finally manifesting themselves.

'Just let go, stop fighting me and in turn yourself, give in to your destiny, and all this will end, you can find your way back into the light, find your way back to happiness, Stop Fighting Alexia...just Stop.'

Slowly her resolve was fading away, she was tired and scared, despite her better judgement she could feel herself giving into the voices and it broke her heart. Just as the last of her will was about to fall apart, an image of Max appeared before her eyes. The warm amber of his eyes, wrapping gently around her heart, giving her an anchor to hold onto, if only for a short time longer.

********

"DAMN IT!" Andreaty spat out in a bitter rage, he forcefully pulled out of Liz's mind, frustrated with the little queen's presistence, "...the girl is definately a stubborn little brat, and a royal pain in my ass." He blew out a breath and prepared to push his will into her mind once more, but was stopped by one of Evani's hands on his shoulder.

"Wait a minute Andy, we want her subordinate not retarded and at the rate your going their wont be anything left of her mind but mush..." Evani let her gaze land on the sleeping queen as a thought formed in her mind, "...we will do this together, perhaps all of us working as as one can finally convince our 'beloved' queen where her loyalties truly belong."

"Whateva..." Andreaty shrugged either way was fine by him, as long as the job was done, he was growing bored with the whole situation, and would just as soon kill her, Khivarr and the whole Royal court. "...I'll go round up Ambro." his imaged flickered out as he vanished from the room.

Evani continued to stare at Liz's dormint form, she seemed so fragile and weak, and it fascinated her just how contridicting appearances could be. She took a seat next to Liz, still devouring every detail of the miniscule bruenette with her eyes, letting her fingers gently trace the contours of Liz's face she marlveled at the pure power that radiated off her. How was it that the others were not aware of her potential, it was almost an insult to hinder such a glorious creature, but this had to play out. They'd spent to many years waiting for her arrival, and the only way to awaken her from this slumber, would be to systimatically destroy every last aspect of her previous life.

Cupping her cheeck she let her essence flow slightly into Liz and watched amazed as her skin faintly glowed crimson in recognition, 'Soon my dear little queen, soon you'll finally awaken, soon we'll make them all tremble...'

Seconds later Andreaty and Ambrosia rematerialized and the trio prepared to place the final piece to their game into play, the next time Liz opened her eyes she would no longer be the naive little hybrid, nor would she be the compassionate queen of Antar, no she would be something far diffrent, something that no one ever saw coming.

Alright guys here's the next part, just to prewarn you, the next couple of chpts will show a different side to Liz , so try and keep an open mind. Well without further ado...

Chapter 26

"ARGH!!!"

"What's going on!?" Maria cried out as she held onto Michael's trembling body.

"I don't know, one minute everything is fine the next all of them are screaming and falling to the ground!" This time it was Isabel who fearfully called out, she herself holding onto a barely coherent Alex.

All around fallen members of the group now grew still, as an erry silence descended upon them, "What's happening now?" Ava's voice trembled slightly as her eyes roamed the room, she watched in horrified awe as Michael, Serina, Alex, Zan and finally Max, slowly roused from there trance. She noticed that all five of them were staring around the room confused, their obsidien eyes boring into nothingness.

"Max...Max?!" Isabel called out unsure just how to proceed, the last time his eyes took on their previous alien appeal, he was King Zannos, but when he blinked and focused on her, she visibly relaxed to find her brother's amber gaze on her instead.

"Isabel...what happened...?" He barely managed to croak out, his entire body heavy and foriegn to him, something was definately off and when he stilled the answer was as obvious as the nose on his face. Liz...

"Are you kidding me, we were waiting for you guys to shed some light, one minute your fine giving last minute orders and the next all five of you are screaming your heads off and falling to the ground." Isabel explained anxiously, while trying to help Alex up off the floor. He gave her a grateful smile and allowed her to lead them both the nearest couch.

The room grew silent again, as the royal's struggled to find an answer to what had just transpired, though at the core of it they were sure it had something to do with Liz.

~Mike I can barely feel my connection to Liz, it's like ders all dis static and she's all muffled or somedin...~ Rina pathed her eyes pleading with her older brother.

Michael too felt the slackening in his connection to his twin, though all four them were still connected, the connection to Liz was somehow clouded, ~I feel it too, something must have happened, maybe Maxwell has some idea as to what's going on.~

Serina nodded and focused her attentions on her King, "Um Max how does your connection to Liz feel right now?"

He didn't have to answer the vacant look in his eyes was enough to confirm their suspicions, "I can barely feel her anymore, but it doesn't make sense cause I know she is still in Khivarr's camp."

The others aggreed, once Serina contacted them, and they'd all phased to the motel just outside Copper Summit, they'd set up a base of operations and Alex set to work on creating an energy locater that kept tabs on the alien lifeforms in an around Khivarr's Camp. One glance at the screen, was all it took to confirm that Liz was still there along with the hundred or so skin troops. So what was going on with Liz that the connection was dampened to this extent.

Ava sat quietly taking in all this new information, a ball of fear was slowly unraveling in her gut, only one thing could possibly cause such a drastic change in the bond, and she hated to think what that could mean for all of them. She was about to speak up when her eyes half hazardly fell on Zan who was seated beside her, "Yo yous aight?" she asked a bit concerned by his silence and the way he refused to meet her eyes.

He couldn't shake this feeling, his skin burned and itched and he felt like he was about exploded, while the others felt there connection to Liz weaken his was somehow blown wide open. She was everywhere, in his heart, in his mind, she was in his very blood flowing through him, driving him mad with need. He was barely aware that Ava had asked him a question, he knew his eyes were still black as coal, and refused to look her way. "Yeah, Aves Im fine..." he mumbled while trying to make a quick escape, luckily for him the others were to involved in their own concerns to pay him much mind.

Ava watched confused by Zan's odd behaivor, she was about to go after him, when she heard Max ask her something, "What...?" she asked unsure what he wanted to know.

"I said do you have any idea as to what is going on?"

She swallowed hard before meeting his gaze, "Um, Iz got an idea but its not a sure thing, Iz mean its only one explanation..." Ava paused, trying to build up her courage.

Alex gave her hand an encouraging squeeze, "Ava it's alright just try and explain, we aren't going to jump to conclusions."

She gratefully smiled at his attempts to ease her fears and turned with renewed confidence to the group, "She's more den likely under a very strong MindWarp, its the only thing that can explain the weaken of yous guys bond. Iz know my dupe aint in no shape able to pull dis kind of power off, so who ever dis is, they are one strong force, probably a match to all our powers combined." she finished solemly. They weren't prepared for this possibility, a new enemy ten times stronger than them and now with Liz gone, it was unthinkable to imagine how they were going to win this fight.

"Explain why you think its a mindwarp?" Max ordered, his voice laced with a steely conviction that made the rest of the group shutter.

"Yes sire...A mindwarp would explain why you feel a slackening in your bond to the queen, with carefully placed sheilds and blocks, aswell as a new memories added and old ones erased, it could in effect cause her to block her connection unconsciously. Though with the Liz's overall power and the strength of your bond, the warp would have to be reenforced on a regular basis. That's why I know it is someone with great power, Tess would drain herself within seconds of attempting this feat and to try and keep up the pace would in effect kill her, so we are dealing with a power 10 times greater than anything we've ever encountered." Once she'd finished her report Ava bowed and resumed her place next to Isabel and Alex.

This new information was yet another obsticle they'd have to get passed in trying to rescue Liz, and Max felt the weight of everyone's eyes on him, waiting for his next move. "Right now we continue with our plan, we move in at dawn, we go get Liz and get out, we go in fast and hard, no matter what we get Liz out. After that we'll figure out what to do."

"Max I think we should rethink this, if Liz is the enemy..."

"SHE IS NOT THE ENEMY!" Max roared quickly silencing Tristan's doubts and scaring the living daylights out of the entire room in the process.

Michael quickly jumped into general mode, "You heard the orders, now we move in less than 4 hours, I suggest everyone prepares themselves, dismissed."

Once the final orders were given the others quickly left the room, only Michael remained with his king, "Maxwell I don't like this, we are flying blind and who knows what we are going to face in there."

His head in his hands, Max let his wall crumble, "I can barely feel her Michael...it's like...it's like a piece of me is dead, it's like my heart is dead..."he whispered brokenly, unshed tears blurring his vision.

The absolute devestation in his voice, was difficult to stomach, and watching his king and brother breakdown infront of him was utter torture, "We'll get her out Max, I promise you we will get Liz back, but maybe rushing in there without knowing exactly what we are up against isn't the best plan of attack." Michael took a seat next to Max and gave his shoulder a light squeeze in understanding.

"What do I do Michael, sit here and wait, send in an opts team to get information, what if we wait to long, what if we lose her completly, I wont survie it..." Max informed his second dejectedly

Before Michael could offer any words of comfort there was a knock at the door, jumping to his feet Michael made his way cautiously to the front door of the apartment. He readied himself for an attack, then with a quick glance to his left he found Max in the same position, slowly he opened the door, but what he found at the other ened was not what he expected at all.

************

"Is she awake?"

"Oh yeah, She is definately awake..." a sultry voice answered from the open doorway.

Tess turned stunned eyes towards the voice and nearly had a heart attack at the sight that stood before her, "Liz?" she managed to croak out, and shivered at the feral smile that spread across the strangers face. This was not the same mousy Parker she had grown to hate, this was an exotic predator sleak and dangerous, walking up to her, she wore a form fitting lace corset that hugged her in all the right places, the silk and satin that flowed down to the floor, shimmered unnaturally with each of her movements. Her long chocolate locks were tinged with a golden sparkle of light that continued to shine, yet it was her eyes that held the most significant change, they were a molten gold with specks of amethyst sprinkled around them, she was etheral and provacative all at the same time.

The fear dripping off her was delicious and Liz licked her lips, "Sweet little Avanya, do you not recognize your own cousin." she swiftly vanished and rematerialized behind a speechless Tess.

"Alexia...but how...you were supposed to...how is this..."

"ah ah ah...what surprised to see me alive and kicking, I suppose you were expecting a mindless droid at your disposal, well I hate to disappoint you dear cousin, but their will be no queen at your bec and call." Liz let her fingers dance lightly through Tess's blonde locks, loving the complete terror rolling of the girl infront of her. Liz dipped her head, and inhaled Tess's scent, "I can almost taste your fear, tell me Tessa what has you so scared..." she whispered thrilled by the tiny shivers that ran up and down Tess's body.

Tess tore out of Liz's reach, she tried to hide the fear that was apperant in her eyes, but it was futile at best, this turn of events was not what she'd planned on, "Don't touch me!" she whispered menacingly low and gathered her courage as she faced her greatest foe.

Liz's whisp like laughter rang out through the silence of the room, "You were always such a simple minded nitwit Ava, though our time will come to its end, now is not it, I have other matters to attend to..." Liz snapped her eyes shut and seconds later the the trio of captians appeared before her.

The three bowed in unison before there queen,"How may we assit you highness?" Evani asked her head still bowed in respect.

"Gather the brigade, the Royal's are on their way, make sure that no one interuppts them as they attempt to rescue me, this shall play out..." Liz directed her words dripping with cold conviction, a drastic contridiction to the sweet melody of her voice, "...Also round up the defective court, I shall deal with Lonnie first but make sure the other three are close at hand, I will not have Khivarr ruining my plans. Do you understand!?" her eyes burned gold with power and once she was absoulutely sure her orders would be followed to the letter she took her leave.

Tess had never seen such raw power, not even her memories of Alexia could match, the image of confidence that poured of Liz, this was definately not what they were expecting. "What have you done?" she questioned.

Andreaty flicked his eyes up towards the blonde, "What Ava not what you were expecting I take..." he blew out a breath in disgust, "...well no worries Ava you wont be around much longer anyways, so I'd take this time to and enjoy my final moments."

"How Dare You!" Tess spat out in a rage, but to her horror all three were now staring at her, there violet eyes shinning gold with power, a power that was very reminescent to the one she'd seen only moments ago coming off of Liz Parker. Then it hit her, like dominoes falling into place, they were all merely pawns in the games of these three childlike demon's. "You planned this, from the very beginning...all of this was your doing wasn't it...but why, why do this?"

Evani evaporated from sight only to materialize moments later behind Tess, she leaned in causing the blonde hybrid to jump in shock, "Why? why...it is simple dear Tess, she is our queen, she will bring forth a reign of pure destruction and chaos that will shake the very heavens, and in the wake of her peril we will rise and bring forth a new age."

Both Andreaty and Ambrosia now surrounded Tess, they stood towering over her, as she continued to withdraw further from their penetrating eyes, "We have waited an eternity for her awakening, and no one will stand in our way, not Khivarr, not the Precious Zan and his Royal court of imbeciles, and especially not your sniveling and whinny ass, so entertain yourself as you see fit, but stay out of our way..." Evani wrapped her small hand gently around Tess's thoart, massaging the pulse that beat wildly with fear at the base of her neck, "...or we will have no choice but to remove you."

Before Tess could even swallow the lump that had fromed in her throat, all three vanished in a swoosh of air, her legs gave out and she fell to the floor trembling as the horror of the situation began to sink in. What had she done, how could she so willingly set into motion the end of all their lives. For the first time in decades she felt remorse and shame, and Tess the reincarnation of Avan'yan of the house of Triliakan, wept and prayed for a chance at redemption.

***********

The room was silent, everyone's attention was glued to the duo seated in the middle of the room, they impatiently waited for the pair to begin. When they'd appeared at the door half an hour ago, Michael nearly blasted them to kingdom come, but luckily Max was quick to intercept his second and both strangers were allowed an audience with the court.

"I know you have no reason to trust us, Majesty, but we both swear our alligence to you and your queen, it is because of her that we have risked so much to acquire this meeting." Xaldeon spoke sincerely, his eyes never straying from his Kings sight. Beside him Nefritia tried to contain her excitiment, she was in the presence of legends and it was far more impressive than she ever could've imagined. Xaldeon quickly cut his eyes towards her, sensing her emotions and trying to impose the seriousness of the situation they were in to her silently.

"You've seen Liz?" Serina's hopeful voice interupted his thoughts.

He turned his attentions to the queen's sister, "No, unfortunately she is kept under strict guard, and only the high ranking Official's are allowed anywhere near her." Xaldeon regretfully answered and watched the hope drain from Serina's eyes.

"If that is the case then why have you come to us." Max asked growing impatient with the time they were wasting sitting around discussing useless things, while Liz was still in the hands of the enemy.

"Sire we came with the intent to help you rescue Alexia, but also to warn you about the three captains of Khivarr's Crimson Brigade."

"Warn us why?" Michael perked up suddenly at the mention of the elite Crimson Brigade, he was still filtering all the knowledge from his past life, and he could vaguely recall hearing about the Crimson Brigade as generl Rathos.

This time it was Nefritia who spoke, "General, they are not to be taken lightly, especially the three Captains, they appear to be no more than children, but just one encounter with them is enough to permenantly engrave their presence into your mind. They are demons, cold and calculating demons..." she shivered at the mere memory of them.

Once more the room grew still, as the others tried to recall why the name Crimson Brigade sounded so familiar, and also why it sent dread bubbling through them. They were all so preoccupied that no one noticed how the group was one member short, well someone was very aware of the missing member, and she was growing more worried by the second.

"I know that name, they were part of my royal army directly under Rathos supervision and extremely secretive..." Max answered suddenly his vision assailed with moments from his past life.

"Yes majesty, the Crimson Brigade have been apart of the Royal army since the time of your great grandfather's reign, always led by the same three captains always very secretive..."

"Hold on you said it was always led by the same three captains?" Maria interupted as the thought hit her.

"Yes." Xaldedon answered as if it were common knowledge.

"How is that possible, that would make them what 200 and something years old, and you said they looked like children, so what the hell are they?"

"No one is really sure what they are, facts get twisted through the years and rumors are exagerated till they become legends themselves, all that is known for sure is that they appear no older than 15 year old humans and hold more power in their pinky than the entire royal armada put together." Nefritia informed them, she had her eyes trained on Tristan, now there was definately a royal she could see her self getting nice and cozy with.

Xaldeon rolled his eyes catching the back end of his sister's thoughts and addressed his king, "Majesty, it is my firm belief that the three Captains have their own agenda, and are simply bidding their time, letting Khivarr think he is in charge so they can set up a far more destructive game plan."

"What do you mean?" Max asked clearly concerned with this turn of events.

"I've only been in their pressence once, but it was an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my natural life, it was like the energy they radiatted completely drowned out everything, suffocating me..." the haunted look once again shadowed his eyes as he continued his story, "...I've never felt anything like it, bleak and terrifying, and the way they enjoyed the torment left me horrified."

Nefritia offered her brother's hand a reaffirming squeeze, she better than anyone understood his fears, she'd seen first hand the atrocities the Brigade Captains were capable of...

Flashback...

The tortured sounds of screams echoed throughout the hallway, and the rancid smells of war and a death slithered around her relentlessly. She'd been trained to fight as a weapon, removing herself from the battle scene and casting aside her moral concerns, but this was a pill no one should have to swallow.

"What are your orders Soldier?!" the voice of her squad captain barked at her.

"Sir, I am to deliver the prisoner to you for interogation, and return with orders for dispatch."

She watched as he yanked the papers from her outstretched hand, and then gave her the go ahead to proceed. When she stepped forward the scene that lay bare before her eyes, made her gasp in terror.

The walls were covered in dried and clottig blood splatters, from the corpses littering the floor, discarded like yesterdays trash, body parts flung about every which way. She felt the bile rise to her mouth and swallowed down hard to prevent herelf from gagging on it.

"So, you've brought us another little toy to play with have you?" a sickly sweet voice giggled from behind her, making the hairs on her neck stand on end.

"Sir! I've been ordered to deliver the prisoner to you for intel..." Keeping her eyes forward, afraid to look upon the face of the monster that could be capable of such drastic acts of deprevaty, she stood rigid and awaited her next orders.

"Oh my what a deligent soldier, how about you stay for awhile and play with us, I'm sure we can keep you enterained..." a second voice filtered in around her, this one was musculine and she caught a whisp of silvery white hair out of the corner of her eye, swallowing hard she just remained stoic staring into the abyss before her.

"ENOUGH!" A third voie boomed in, causing her to jump back a step and the other two to simply step away from her, taking the prisoner with them. This time she did chance a look and what she saw left her completely dumbfounded.

She'd expected three battle hardened monsters, but came face to face with mere children, all three looked almost angelically sweet, yet held an frigid emptiness to their stare. The brunette who'd moments ago silenced the other two stepped forward handing her an envelope and eyed her curiously, "You find us beautiful, but your also disgusted by us, such contradicting emotions leave us completely confused. But do not fear Nefritia, we will not harm you now go."

Without a second thought Nefritia bowed and almost ran from the room, she could hear the screams all the way down the hall, and to her horror she could also hear laughter laced together with the cries.

End Flashback...

Trying to shake away the memories Nefritia turned towards the royals, "Please, we only want to help you rescue the queen, but you must understand, the Brigade Captains are unlike anything you will ever face, and more than likely most of you will not survie this battle..." she lamented her last statement, but it was already to late to retract it, they needed to be prepared for the inevitable.

Max digested the new information, then stood abruptly without another look at the new comers he headed for the door, "You know my decision, we leave in one hour, so gather what you need and be prepared to head out." Then with out another word he was gone, leaving Michael to deal with the chaos that was soon to errupt at his departure.

************

~Come to me Zan....~

Her voice beckoned and he was powerless to deny her, not that he would if he had a choice, but just the fact that he was left without that option frightened him. Yet despite the doubt, he continued his path towards her. Perhaps the fact that he was walking into enemy territory should worry him, or the fact that there was no hostile force preventing him from entering blatantly through the front door should send out warning flags, but he could care less about either truth. His thoughts were only on her, and his unrestrained need to be at her side.

~Yes love, desire me...need me like the blood that pumps furiously through your veins.~

The growl that pushed past his lips urged him forward, his eyes burning with golden tipped wanton lust, glowed mercilessly in the darkness that surrounded him. She was seducing him, setting a slow burn to slowly swallow him whole. He tore through the camp, single minded in his intent to find her, destroying anything that stood in his way. And as he grew closer to his goal, she saturated him in her essence, calling out the primal beast that lay dorment within his body, bringing out the alien king from his confines.

Now all that stood in his way was a meger door, he could feel her heat, he could smell her tantalizing aroma as it wrapped around him, teasing his senses. Pushing through the last obsticle that stood between them, he stood panting for breath and devouring the exotic beauty before him.

The room was bathed in red silk and satin, and in the midst of it all she stood like a beacon calling him forward. Licking her lips tortously slow she let her gaze penetrate him, setting the room on fire with the force of her desire.

They stood locked in this silent dance for what seemed like an eternity, and as the damn burst, she felt him rush in, grabbing her with brute force and pushing her hard against the wall, as his lips attacked. Their was no soft gentleness to his touch, only rough passion as he took her lips til they were swollen and red from his ministrations.

He was too far gone to be gentle, his body ached to have her, to take her roughly and claim his property, no hesitation, no doubt, just the instinct to take what was his. And as his lips crashed down upon hers, he felt complete for the first time in his miserable life, the moan that escaped from her parted lips was all the encouragement he needed to continue.

"Zan..." she moaned, as his lips traveled down her jaw and found their way to the sensitive skin at the base of her neck, like whisps of smoke memories floated through her mind. Every pleasure he'd ever given her seemed to multiple upon itself, causing her to pant for breath.

Lifting her up into his arms, his lips still kissing her with ravenous hunger, Zan made his way over to the bed, "I've waited an eternity to feel you in my arms again, you are MINE!" he growled into her neck.

"Yes only yours...only..." Her words died mid sentence and she jerked away from him suddenly, 'NO!!!' a voice screamed from somewhere deep within her soul.

"Lexi?" He asked out of breath and obviously confused, he watched as her eyes flipped back and forth from deep chocolate, to the unearthly shade of golden violet.

She shook her head to clear her thoughts, and within seconds she was once more in control, "Only yours Zan, only YOURS..."

His mind was begging him to realize things were not as they seemed, trying desperately to appeal to his rationality, but one glance in her direction and he was lost. Falling deeper and deeper into this fire, he could barely breath as she weaved her spell upon him, pushing and pulling all of his buttons til he was powerless to resist her.

They were both soon lost as the heat continued to intwine them together, skin to skin, without a single barrier left between them.

"Make me yours." she cried out.

Without another thought he positioned himself at her entrance, then holding her gaze he pushed through, causing both of them moan out in pleasure, "I...can't be gentle..." Zan moaned out his body already pounding relentlessly into her.

In that moment Alexia felt free, at last joined with the final part of her love, mind body and soul, she was complete, 'let go love, I want all of you..' her mind whispered back to him, and she cried out in pleasure as he let go of his last vestige of restraint.

Together they reached the persipice, and with reckless abandon both dove off, as memories and visions melted into one another wrapping around them binding their souls to each other, and as they tumbled back to earth, they were once again intwined as one.

"I love you Lexi..."

"As I love you Zan..."

Yet even as the words left her lips, her soul cried out for another, and deep inside the darkened corners of her heart Liz Parker wept for all she had lost.

Chapter 27

"What da hell's going on?" Ciyan's voice slurred slightly as he attempted to sit up, shaking off the grogginess that weighed heavy on his mind. When he took a second to take in his surroundings, the first thing he noticed was that he wasn't alone.

"Fuck...my head is killin me..." Lonnie groaned, her eyes cracked open slightly and she tried to focus on the voice coming from her left, "...well, well if it aint her royal fucking highness, so Tessie yous in here too?"

"Fuck off Lonnie...Argh!" Tess cursed as the room tilted abruptly, trying to regain her balance she took in a deep breathe and refocused her attentions on finding a way out of her current predicament.

"So dis it, just you, me and her royal highess over der?" Lonnie asked Ciyan who simply shrugged in response. Her eyes roamed over the room, unitl they landed on a sight that she never thought she'd live to see in all her life, both of them. "Well looks like wes got a ourselves a little reunion goin on here..." Lonnie smirked her eyes focusing on the unconscious individual neatly deposited across the room.

"No shit, deys bagged themselves a king too..." Ciyan chuckeled, the gravity of th situation not really seeming to phase him, he instead turned his concern towards the small blonde next to him. "Tess, yous alright?"

She couldn't help but smile at the geniune concern laced through his voice, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill, she let her mind blank, allowing only the present situation to remain in her forthoughts. "We need to get outta here before they return?"

"Yeah, queenie and how exactly do yous propuse we do that, as yous can see we aint got much options here." Lonnie scoffed, her contempt clearly evdient in her tone.

"Well instead of giving me shit, maybe you should give me some ideas on how to get us out, unless you want to die, cause thats exactly what's going to hapen to all of us." Tess stared at her two companions and watched as the gravity of their current situation set in. "Good, so any ideas?"

Before Lonnie could get another caustic thought outta her mouth, the door swung open revealing one very pissed off alien queen, "So I see you all have finally awakened, I hope you had a restful nap, because now the fun begins..." Her eyes glowed with unbridled power as she stared at them, loving the pure fear that dripped from her captives, "...oh but it seems one memeber of our little reunion still hasn't risen, how about we wake him up?"

The others watched as Liz sauntered over to Khivarr's prone body, then kneeling she placed her palm to his forehead and within seconds his blood curdling screams echoed through room.

"ARGH!!!! You stupid BITCH!" Khivarr spat his eyes blazing with murderous fury.

"Oh Khivy, what am I not all you expected..." Liz innocently smiled.

"When I get out of here, I will make you beg for death..." Khivarr lunged at her, but was held back by some unseen force and growled with anger.

Liz couldn't hide the smile of satisfaction that spread over her lips at his seething fury, "Oh there will definately be begging, but I doubt it will come from my lips..." she pressed her palm once more against his forehead and sent a surge of power into him, causing him to scream out in pain and pass out.

No one uttered a word, not even Lonnie dared make a smart ass comment, the power blanketing the room was suffocating and it was originating from a very unexpected person. The shock was obvious, but what left them completely unnerved was the overwhelming need to obey her.

"Do yous feel da need to bow down to super queen over der, all da sudden?" Lonnie asked under her breath, and frowned whe the others all nodded, yeah this was definately not part of the plan.

Liz's unyeilding gaze was focused on the trio across from her, so these were the traitors, they'd planned to keep her subservient and have an oracle at their disposal, well it would seem their plans fell a tad bit south, "I am betting you are all wondering just what the hell is going on?" she smiled and inched closer to them. "...well it would seem that your little plans have been changed, and Im in charge now, so I suggest you keep your mouths shut and stay outta of my way, unless you want to experience the extent of my power first hand." she raised a hand and sent Lonnie crashing against the wall.

Despite the obvious differences in her appearance and overall behaivior, she was still intoxicating, and Ciyan found himself unable to turn away from her.

She could feel his eyes all over her body, and gave him a selfsatisfied smirk, "Do you like what you see?"

Seething with anger, Tess turned accusary eyes toward her cousin, "What do you plan to do with us?" she interupted the unatural moment that seemed to be taking place between Liz and Ciyan, unable to hide her relief when Liz turned her attention towards her instead.

"Do not worry dear cousin, for the time being you serve me better alive, but that could easily change..." Liz once again felt a thrill rush through her as she watched Tess gulp back her trepidation.

Growing bored with her current games, Liz decided to go set the rest of her plan into motion, mentally calling out to her subordinates she waited only a few seconds before the air infront of her shimmered and both Ambrosia and Andreaty materialized before her, "Make sure they don't get in my way..." she turned abruptly to leave but paused a second before walking out, "...oh if they get out of line, silence them permanently." she through out casually over her shoulder.

"Yes Highness..." both Captains answered with a bow.

The others watched as she disappeared from sight, feeling an ill sense of dread wrap around them, they watched transfixed as the two teenage looking soldiers smirked at them, "So Ambro, how about we have ourselves alittle fun..."

Giggling she slid over to them, "Well the queen did say to keep them alive, but I guess she never really specifically said in what state they could be in, just as long as they were alive, right?"

An evil gleam shone in both their amthesyt eyes, as they lifted a hand and shut the doors to the room, "Now then, how about alittle game?"

***********************

Alexia let her eyes roam over her slumbering king, images of the previous nights affair flitted through her mind, making her smile, "Sleep now beloved, our time is close at hand..." she whispered gently pushing a stray lock back from his forehead. With one last glance she walked out for the room, replacing the barrier she'd constructed around the room, for his own protection.

"Majesty..."

"Yes, Evani what is it?" she answered her eyes still lingering on the shut door before her.

"The Royal's have been spotted just outside the camp grounds, and they appear to be in the company of two of our own soldiers." Evani informed, the intel provided showed not only a squad general, but a lieutenent as well, guiding the Royals.

Liz let the information sink in, then opened herself to the dwindled connections she still maintained with her family, and was not surprised to find them close by, "Keep them in sight, but make no move to stop them..." she purposely pushed a few hectic emotions into the connection, for good measure before closing it from her end, "...I want Khivarr brought to me, make sure he is coherent but nothing else, also keep Tess and Ciyan together but seperate them from Lonnie."

"Ofcourse highness, um what should we do with the princess?"

"Give her to Ambro and Andy to play with, after that I don't care, kill her if you like, just make sure she will cause us no further problems." Liz ordered and then excused Evani. Quickly remembering a previous thought Liz called back her Captain, "...make sure that the shifter is disposed off, before the confrontation..." then with a wave of her hand she sent her on her way.

Releasing an exhausted breath, she rubbed at her temples, 'Damn it', her head was throbbing, and she could feel her counterpart raging for control, but despite her best efforts, Liz fell silent once more, leaving Alexia in charge of all their fates. 'Now, now Liz harming us will do neither one of us any good, just assimilate yourself to me and all will be as it should...' she tried to reason with herself, and smiled when the headache subsided.

~Where are you Amal?~ Zan's voice whispered to her mind.

Alexia shivered with delight at the feel of his essence, ~I will return shortly, I simply need to tie up a few loose ends...~ she pathed back and sent him various images of her in compromising positions.

She could feel the growl vibrate through her and her pulse raced at his evident desire, ~You don't play fair beloved, keep this up and I'll have to punish you..."~

~Promises, promises...now I need to attend to some urgent buisness, and will return shortly.~ she mentally answered him and then quickly shut the connection from her end.

Her senses were tingling as she felt the others approach, especially Zan's duplicate, despite her awakening, or maybe because of it, she was craving him with the same verocity she felt towards Zan. Perhaps she would keep this king at bay aswell, having two Zans was certainly better than one. Alexia found herself grinning at the thought, but quickly straightened herself, when Evani appeared before her.

"As you requested Majesty, your orders have been carried out, yet I have to impart that keeping Ciyan and Tess quartered together may lead to an unpleasant obsticle for us in the end." she bowed and awaited her next assignment.

Alexia smiled inwardly, she'd wait patiently allowing the two, to realize the love that was slowly simmering below the surface, and then when the feelings bubbled over she'd lung in and rip him out of her cousins grasp. "Perhaps, but I have my eyes set on revenge Captain and this is but a means to an end, now be off and prepare for our guests, we wouldn't want them arriving with out a proper greeting, would we?"

"It shall be done Majesty." with another bow she walked off.

"Oh Khivarr, my insolent and misguided cousin, what am I to do with you?" Alexia mused as she circled the fallen tyrant.

Slowly his eyes fluttered opened and he groaned from the pain this simple act created, but despite that he sought her gaze, "I-I must commend you cousin..." his voice was hoarse and dry as he addressed her, "...I would've never expected such furiocity from you, but then again I, like so many others underestimate your true power..." With great effort he managed to kneel before her, and bowed in respect, "...Majesty."

It was a simple acknowledgement but it was all she needed to assure herself of his loyalties, though little good they would serve him, Khivarr's fate was already sealed, "I can see you are in a far more complacent mood today Khivarr, though I am sure that has more to do with my Captains and less to do with your new found loyalties to me..." she watched as he swallowed anxiously at the mention of her Captain's but continued before he could interupt, "...regardless I can also see you are no longer a threat to me, so for now you shall live, but..."

Khivarr watched on in horror as the girl before him transformed into a being of raw power, her essence filling the room till she was everywhere all at once, pushing down upon him and making it difficult to breathe. Her eyes glowed with golden energy and she let loose a violent of wind of rage that tore through him, making him gasp with fascinated terror.

"...if you cross me Khivarr I will rip you apart piece by miserable piece, do you understand?" she waited for his nod and then abruptly shifted back to normal. "Good, I am glad we understand each other, now go, I am tired of your presence here and have far bigger things to prepare for."

Thankful for the chance to make his exit Khivarr hubbled out of the room, causing Alexia to grin at this pathetic display, 'So this is the All Poweful Tyrant, nothing more than a sniveling coward begging at my feet...' she mused her thoughts lingering on his almost sincere display of loyalties, 'I am no fool, cousin, nor am I forgiving you will pay dearly for the atrocities you have bestowed upon me an mine, I swear it by the Goddess herself...'

************

"This don't feel right Maxwell..." Michael commented for the 20th time since they'd phased into the enemy camp, and though Max had tried his best to ignore his seconds comments, he couldn't deny the stillness that had met them once they entered Khivarr's base was undeniably wrong. If he listened to his own instincts he'd know they were walking straight into a trap, but his need to find his mate was canceling out all logic and common sense.

"We keep moving, make sure our flanks are covered and everyone keep your senses heightened." He ordered and continued on without a moments hesistation.

Max and Michael took the lead, followed by Serina and Tristan, Alex and Isabel took up the left flank, while Nefritia and Xaldeon took up the right and Finally Maria, Ava and Rath brought up the rear. Each member focused solely on the mission at hand, allowing their minds to meld together, no longer were they 11 seperate entities but rather they were now a single predatory being, whose only goal was the retrival of their queen at the cost of any life that got in their way.

Suddenly a group of skin soldiers appeared from their left, without so much as a thought, Alex reached out for Isabel's hand and both simultaneously released a blast that reduced the 5 skins to nothing more than ash. The encounter never even registered in the groups mind, they continued on as if it were merely an ant they had squashed.

"Sir target has been neutralize." Isabel informed.

Max nodded and the team continued forward, carefully breaching the inner walls of the base, resistance was dangerously low and already the others were growing anxious at the almost inexistant security.

Without warning the air around them shimmered, growing thick with the powerful hum of energy, Max stopped dead in his tracks as the intoxicating vibration swept through him and he knew instantly who it belonged to, "Liz..."

As if he'd called her up from the shadowy depths, she materialized before him, "You should not have come Zan, forgive me..." she whispered.

For a split second the world seemed frozen, locked in her steely gaze, but when she blinked all hell broke loose and Max watched as in horror as each member of his party fell at her feet, she turned towards him, eyes blazing gold, igniting a fire deep within his soul, yet before he could so much as call out her name the world around him faded and he was left with only darkness.

Hey guys thnxs for the patience hope your still reading out there, and here are the next two chpts. I've been currently working on a second story but I'm going to try and finish this one first let me know whatcha think...

Chapter 28

"Argh...I feel like someone walked over my grave..." Alex's groggy voice broke the silence in the room.

"What happened?" Michael asked as he woke.

"I'm not sure the last thing I remember was walking into Khivarr's base camp, and then everything is kinda of a blur, until about two seconds ago when I woke up here..." Alex glanced at his surrounding for the first time, and was surprised to find himself in what appeared to be a very normal looking apartment. "...do you think the others are okay?" he asked concerned by the almost complete lack of his unit.

Following his brother's lead Michael took a moment to asses his surroundings, nothing out of the ordinary, with slight difficulty he managed to get up and walk to the closed door to his right, trying the knob he was relieved to find it unlocked. "Hey there's another room over here..." Michael announced as he went to check it out. What he found was not what he expected, "ALEX GET IN HERE!"

He was up in a flash, despite the nausea and the stars that danced behind his eyes, he pressed forward, "What's going on Michael?"

"I found the others..." Michael answered.

And sure enough in the next room, they found the others, well everyone except, Isabel and Max, "Are they okay?" Alex asked warily, as he kneeled beside Serina's unconscious form.

"Yeah their fine, just sleeping?" Michael confirmed, and gently brushed a stray hair away from Maria's forehead.

"What the hell is going on Michael?

"I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it can't be good..."

**********

'Help Me...Help Me Max...Please find me...'

'Liz?'

'Help Me...'

'Liz ?'

'Helllpp...Meee...'

'LIZ?!'

Max suddenly shot up, her name torn from his lips, though his body felt foreign he forced himself to stay upright, fighting the nausea and pain that threatened to overwhelm him. When he'd finally managed to calm down his racing heart and find some semblance of balance, he let his eyes focus on his alien surroundings.

It appeared to him that his cell was nothing more than an ordinary room, probably no different than the countless hotel rooms he'd inhabited throughout the course of his life. With a final push he brushed away the final cob webs from his brain and stood to take inventory of his surroundings.

Reaching out with his senses he tried to pin point the others and was surprised when he could easily locate every member of his group, minus one. Turning suddenly he was very aware that Isabel was his closest targic and as he stepped into the adjoining room he found her sleeping peacefully on one of the beds. Deciding it was best to let her rest for now, he checked the room once more for any hidden surprises and when he was confident that all was safe he left her secure in her slumber.

"Hello Max..."

Her voice had startled him and when he turned from Isabel's closed door, the vision that stood before him caused his heart to skip a few beats, "Liz..." his voice was barely a whisper. He'd been afraid that this was all a dream, and she'd vanish like so many times before.

She smiled briefly at his unguarded expression, but quickly regained control of her composure, this was no time for emotions, her mind berated, "You will soon learn that though I retain a small portion of the one you knew off as Liz, I am not her." Her voice was unnatuarally cold, and though she was still breathtakingly beautiful, there was a hollow emptiness to her beauty now.

"Alexia?" Her name slipped from his lips and when he really looked at her, Max felt his blood run cold in his veins. The soulful richness of her cocoa shaded eyes was gone replaced by an unearthly deep violet that seemed to burn with power and rage. Her outward appearance remained unchanged, yet there was now and exotic raw beauty that glowed from somewhere deep within his beloved. It called to a place deep inside him, innate and primal, the part of him that was alien.

"Yes, Max I am her, but I am also so much more now..." Liz stepped forward her eyes never leaving his, every cell in her body ragged, screaming out for him, and the closer she got to him the harder it was to maintain her indifference. "You are so much like him, more so than your dupe, you have his eyes..." she whispered finding herself ensnared in their amber depths.

"My dupe?...You mean Zan, you have him here..." Anger roared to life at the thoughts that suddenly sprang into his mind, he lunged at her and gripped her arms savagely, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY FAMILY?!" he spat his eyes black as pitch were now boring into her.

Liz licked her lips, this was what she was longing for, Zan did infact have a portion of her kings DNA, but staring into the ebony depths of the man before her, Liz knew that Max was her king reborn.

Freeing herself with a giggle and a twirl, Liz happily bounded for a near by couch, "Oh they're just fine, I believe they are all resting comfortably in one of the many rooms on this floor, no need to worry..." her voice was light an extreme change from only minutes ago.

Max stared confused by her sudden change, "I want to see them..."

"All in good time my king, first things first I think your sister is waking, perhaps we should continue this at a later time." Liz sobered quickly and once again the wall resurfaced.

"Wait..." Max was about to argue when a young girl materialized infront of him, he watched curiously as Liz relayed an order and the young girl bowed before vanishing again. He watched Liz strout to the door and was certain that she would leave without so much as another word.

"Please do not try an escape, it is pointless and I do not wish to cause you harm, but I will not tolerate insubordination..." Liz spoke quietly and then rushed out the door.

"LIZ Wait a second..." Max raced for the door, but it was undoubtedly locked, "...LIZ!" Max continued to pound on the door calling out her name. It was in this same position that Isabel found him in minutes later.

"Max? What's going?" Isabel's frazzeled voice cut through his tantrum.

"Isabel, are you okay?" Max asked as he made his way over to his sister, after making sure she was truly okay, he led her over to the couch.

"Where are the others Max, have we been captured?" Isabel asked still confused by their surroundings, she was fully expecting to find herself locked away in some dungenous cell, but instead she woke to find herself in a normal bedroom.

Exhausted from the meeting with Liz, Max ran a tired hand through his hair, "Isabel, I need you to try and connect to either Michael or Alex, I can feel them so they are close by..."

Isabel watched the haunted look that was now draped over her brother's features, and inwardly shuddered, whatever it was that she had unknowingly walked into was obviously tearing him apart. She nodded and then set to work, closing her eyes she attempted to follow the slim string of energy that would lead her to Michael. She figured that it would be a safer bet to try and connect to Michael since they'd grown up together, and out of the group other than Max he was the closest relationship she had.

~Michael...~

~Isabel?~

She heard his voice barely louder than a whisper in her head and instantly knew she'd be unable to maintain this connection long,

~Michael...I don't have much time...I just need to know that you are okay, and that the others are fine...~

~Yeah I'm fine, I'm with Alex, Serina, Maria and Tristan, but I don't know where Ava and Rath are I thinnnk...~

Suddenly the connection was severed and Isabel sagged against her brother, her labored breathing and sweaty brow causing him to jump to action.

"Izzy, look at me? Izzy come on are you okay? Izzy...?" Max fussed as he laid Isabel down on the couch and carefully smoothed down a rebelious lock of hair.

At first the world around her was nothing more than a blur of colors, so instead of trying to focus on her surroundings Isabel latched onto her brother's voice, and slowly she was able to once again open her eyes without wincing.

"Sorry..." she whispered as she caught sight of the concern in her brother's eyes.

Max smiled and helped Isabel sit up, "What happened?"

"I think I'll leave the whole telepathy thing to Michael and the others..." she smoothered a yawn before continuing, "...I was able to get through but only long enough for Michael to tell me that he aswell as the others were fine." Trying to push back the strain of using an unknown power, Isabel swallowed a breath of air and focused on her brother, "...oh except for Ava and Rath that is, I think Michael was trying to tell me that both Ava and Rath were taken somewhere else."

Max's brow furrowed in concentration, something wasn't sitting well with him, why were they all seperated, Liz was definately up to something and it left him feeling anything but fine, "I don't like this Isabel, they've seperated us for a reason, and I'm not waiting around to see what it is, come on lets go."

First things first he had to find a way to get both Isabel and himself out of this room, Max made his way cautiously to the door and though he doubted it be that easy he reached for the handle and turned.

*Click*

'I guess it is that easy, strange...' Max thought but continued on, grabbing hold of Isabel's hand if and tentatively treked down the hall. It was irryly quite and empty, sending out his senses Max tried to feel out the energy signatures of his unit. Once he picked up the direction he led Isabel towards a door at the end of the hallway,

~This is where they're at come on...~ Max pathed to his sister and when she nodded, he continued through the door, but what he saw left them both completely speechless.

Chapter 29

'LIZ NO!!!!'

'...You are dead to me, DO YOU HEAR ME DEAD TO ME!'

'Please help me Zan '

'...the hour of judgement is near, a sacrifice, a betrayal, a lost love, shall befall the chosen, Let the lion sleep with the lamb, as the dust settles the Zenith shall rise once more...'

"ARGHH!!!"

"Majesty!?" Evani rushed to her side.

"I'm fine...I was trying to force a vision..." Liz gasped as pain shot through her body, but it only lasted a moment before her body effeciently healed itself, taking in a gulp of air she straightened herself and allowed Evani to help her up and over to the couch.

"Highness it is not wise to force a connection to the granolith, especially in your unbalanced state of mind."

"I know, I just really need to decipher the final piece to the prophecy, or everything we've worked for is pointless." Liz sat back and closed her eyes memorizing the piece of prophecy she recieved. She'd chew it over later but for now atleast it would not be forgotten, letting out a breath she could feel Evani's gaze on her and turned to her second. "Evani I am perfectly fine, stop stressing please, I can practically feel your stress oozing into me..."

Though she wasn't quite content with her queen's answer she decided to drop it for now, "Very well majesty, I was actually coming to inform you that both Zan and Volanndra are on the move."

Liz perked up at the sound of Zan's name and immediately switched gears, "I take it you allowed him to escape and are keeping a close eye on him and my siblings..."

"Yes Majesty, but if I might ask why are you playing with them in such a manner?" she asked still confused with the order to allow them to walk around unrestricted, it was dangerous and also kinda cruel to give them a false sense of accomplishment.

A glint of humor shone through her eyes as she imagined the stunned looks on her families faces when they realized they weren't locked in, "I imagine they are rather confused by this turn of events, and if I know Zan he isn't buying it for a second." she mused more to herself than to her second.

"So this is what exactly, a tactic to breakdown their restraint, have them jumping at shadows, I am not quite sure that is a wise decision, especially conisdering Rathards disposition to shoot first ask questions later." Evani countered still unsure this plan of attack would serve their means to an end.

A smile tugged at her lips as she thought of her siblings, it was one of the few things she wasn't torn about in her mind, "He wasn't known for his diplomacy was he...but you'll find Michael is far more docile than Rath ever was. They are all mere babes at this point, still unaware of their true potential, even Zan only grazes the surface of his power, but that will soon change..." a shudder of desire raced through her body when she imagined her kings finale transformation.

Perhaps, this was not such a bright idea, Evani began to wonder if they had misjudged the power of the Royal's, "Highness, when shall we begin the process?"

"Soon, let them enjoy a few moments more of normlacy, before their world is flip on its side. Now I think I will go and see how our dupe king is doing..." Liz smirked as she sauntered over to the door. "...Evani check in on the rest of the dupes, and make sure Andy and Ambro have not exhausted their new playmates, also up the dosages on both Ciyan and Tess I want them both completely reformated by the end of the week. Report back to me when this has been accomplished."

"Yes Majesty." Evani bowed and vanished with a swoosh.

'Perfect...' Liz silently acknowledged and pushed through the door.

**********
The screams tore through the empty corridor, their pitiful howls revirbrated around the silence, it was a sound she'd grown accustomed to and even tended to miss when it was gone. She held no misconception of who or what they were, and though each was blessed with beauty and charm it only went as far as skin deep. As she stepped inside the room her eyes blinked adjusting themselves to the hazy warmth that blanketed the room.

"Yo Vani what's up?" her brother's voice drifted in from her side. He appeared to be carving a glyph upon the skin of Volanndra's dupe, and the hidieous cry that ripped from her lips, sent a thrill racing through her pulse.

"I see your still at it, I'd have thought they'd be of no good use by now..." she walked by yanking Rath's head back and smiling as he grunted, "...but they do tend to be quite resislient. So where's Ambro, playing with the tyrant or perhaps the little wanna be queen?"

Andreaty pushed Valonndra away, finding pleasure in the whimpers and cries that spilt from her lips, he'd take great enjoyment in playing some more with her. Turning to his sister, the two gingerly stepped out into the hall, hand in hand, "Nah, she's actually keeping an eye on the royals, as for Avanyan's dupe, the queen's ordered she be kept imprisoned but untouched, so we can't play with her, atleast not yet..." he winked at her and both continued on.

"I don't like this Andy, she isn't falling inline correctly, she's letting her emotions and memories keep her tied to these creatures." Evani confided.

Taking a moment Andy let the information sink in, it was true that since her awakening the queen had infact severed most of her ties to the royals, she still remained hesistant to take the necessary steps needed to fulfill their plans. "She'll come around, if anything we can use the Denaithan Crystal to enhance her more preferable qualities."

The option held merit and Evani felt at peace once again, they would accomplish their mission regardless of the cost.

"Hey you two, what's going on?" Ambro's sweet voice floated in from behind them.

"Where've you been?" Andy spat.

Sticking out her tongue Ambrosia ignored her brother and instead turned to face her sister, "So Vani what new orders does her majesty have for use today?" she asked caustically.

Evani gave her sister a look of warning before continuing, "We are to keep an eye on the Royals but not interfere, they must appear to be in complete control of their situation."

"Wow, she can be pretty cruel..." Andreaty snickered.

"Anyways, we watch but that is all, oh she wants the time table pushed up for Ciyan and Tess's reformat, it is to be completed by the end of the week."

"Yeah alright, that wont be a problem we just up their dosage, anything else?" Andy questioned.

When the trio entered the mess hall all movement ceased as the soldiers stood in acknowledgment and saluted "CAPTAINS ON THE FLOOR!" one of the lieutenants called out and room acknowledged.

"AT EASE" Evani called out and watched pleased as her men respectfully turned to them and saluted once more before returning to their meals.

"That always gives me a kick..." Ambrosia giggled and laced an arm through with her sister.

Evani reprimanded her lack of authority but quickly ammended when she watched her sister pout, "You will never be Captain material, but I still love you, come on lets grab so chow and discuss our next plan of attack."

Andreaty rolled his eyes, and Ambrosia giggled and the trio went about grabbing some much needed nourishment. They still had some time before their plans culminated, and now was the time to plan. Everything had to be surgical and precise, they'd waited to many years to fail now.

***********

"Awww ZAN!!" Liz cried out in ecstacy as the two collapsed after an intense session of lovemaking.

"Your gorgeous..." he breathed out, letting his fingers brush away a few wet locks from her face.

She licked her lips, still hungry for more, but refrained, she needed to accomplish a few things today and falling into another round with Zan would surely block out all her restraint. "Your not so bad yourself..."

Zan watched mesmorized by her graceful movements, the sweat that dripped from her limbs seemed to catch the light causing her skin to glow. He'd never grow tired of simply watching her, she was absolutely breathtaking. Every movement graceful, every simple act a masterpiece in motion, and underneath it all was raw power, unrestrain and pulsing with life. It's what called to him, his warrior queen, his exotic beauty, "I love you..." he whispered reverantly.

His declaration startled her, though he'd said it many times before during their romps, this was the first time she'd heard him geniunely mean it, "I love you too." She answered with a smile.

He wasn't a fool or a simpleton, he saw how the smile never reached her eyes, or how her words faltered just a smige, but he would not question her. He'd live the dream as long as he could and enjoy whatever time she allowed him. That was the life of a dupe, a copy of a copy, whose only purpose is to be back up, "where's yous goin sweets?"

She leaned over once more and gently kissed his lips, pulling away before he could deepen it, "I need to work, and you need your rest, so we can continue this later.." she winked and before he could protest was gone in a flurry of red silk.

Zan wrapped the robe around his body and padded over to the door, he wasn't surprised to find it locked, nor was he at all shocked when a wave of exhaustion washed over him, causing him to stumble back alittle. 'Damn, how long have I's been here...' Zan thought warily but found that his mind had grown fuzzy and lathergic. Swaying on his feet, he barely made it back to the bed before he collapsed and passed out.

His last thoughts were of Ava, he needed to check in with her, before they all walked into this trap, he only hoped it wasn't to late.

"I'm sorry Zan.." Liz whispered her head resting on his closed door. She let herself feel remorse for just a split second, before pushing away her emotions and straightening herself.

"Have fun?"

She turned to find Ambrosia seated at the couch facing the door, a knowing smile spread across her lips, without hesistating she returned the smile and made her way casually over to her, "He serves his purpose well."

Arching an eyebrow, Ambrosia giggled but dropped any further teasing, "I'm here to report highness..." she waited briefly for acknowledgement and then continued, "...the Royal's seem to be planning their escape without any knowledge of our watch, but they are keeping their witts about them, especially Max and Michael. Also we've upped the dosage on both Ciyan and Tess, they should be fully functional by the end of the day."

"Good, keep me informed I will be communing with the granolith for a few hours but I expect a progress report when I call for you." Liz explained and watched as Ambrosia bowed and vanished.

'Perhaps its time to pay my family alittle visit...' Liz silently commented her mind plagued with thoughts and plans, she had to many balls up in the air and one miss step could bring them all crashing down.

I know this story is taking a slight turn but try and stick with it I guarantee a happy ending for all

Chapter 30

"Well this is definately not what I expected to walk into..." Isabel announced stunned by the sight she and Max had stepped into.

"Yeah..." Max answered simply. He expected to find the others subdued and imprisoned waiting for a rescue, but instead he stepped into a normal night at casa Guerin. Which meant Maria gossiping with Serina, Tristan quietly observing at their side, and Alex and Michael both crashed infront of the TV casually flipping channels.

"Hey Max." Serina greeted as the duo burst in guns blaring ready for battle.

"So what now?" Isabel asked completly thrown for a loop by the current situation, and by the dumbfounded look on her brother's face she knew he was just as confused.

The Royals were all gathered together in one of the empty rooms on the floor. They appeared to have free reign of the entire floor, though they weren't letting their guard down, it atleast gave them piece of mind to be allowed to regroup.

'So what now?', the infamous question that always perceded every situation, how he hated that question, and it seemed no matter what the turn of event everyone was constantly asking him, 'what now?', what the others never realized was that he was just as clueless as the rest of them, he just hid it better. Only Liz seemed to be aware of his doubts, but with one gentle hand squeeze, she gave him the courage to face any obsticle. So now that the obsticle at hand was none other than his beloved Liz, who was going to offer him a hand and the courage to face this battle...

"Max?" Isabel asked concerned by her brothers silence.

"I'm fine Isabel..." he turned to his sister and offered her a smile, "We need to find Rath, Ava, Xaldeon, and Nefritia."

"Okay look, I'm all for helping out Xal and Tia but lets be realistic, they aren't part of our unit, and what about Liz and Zan aren't they the reason we came barreling into this place in the first place." Michael threw out fed up with Max's sudden change in attitude.

"Look Michael I have not forgotten the reason we came here for, but some things have changed since we've been here..." Max relented for a moment, the others were not going to like his news, he was still trying to deal with it himself.

"What the hell does that mean?!" Michael barked, but quickly calmed down when he felt Maria's hand on his arm.

"What do you mean changed Max?" Maria took over for her extremely passionate yet not so level headed general.

Max sighed and met everyones gaze before continuing, "Liz and Zan aren't being held captive here, actually by the looks of it Liz is the one in charge, well actually Alexia is the one in charge."

"WHAT?!" Three voice rang out in stunned outrage.

Turning to Serina seemed to be the best option at the moment, since she had most of her memories of Antar still intact, "Serina, Liz's eyes were a dark violet color and she was calling herself Alexia, no actually she said she was her and so much more, do you have any idea what could have happened to her."

Serina shuddered, now she understood why her connection to her sister was muted, her sister no longer held control of that body, "I'z not sure how dis happened but it sounds like she's been awakened..." Serina turned worried eyes towards her brothers and silently relayed her fears...

~Mike that's why the connections all outta whack~

~I don't care we're not leaving her, she's our sister Rina~

Alex listened as the two debated his thoughts falling back to his sister, he could remember every smile, every cry, every time she blew up at him, this was not happening his heart raged.

~NO! We are not leaving her, she is my family and I will not just walk AWAY!~

Both Serina and Michael jumped at the sudden anger from Alex, but both instantly aggreed.

"Max we are not leaving without her and everyone else, no one gets left behind, remember?" Alex used Max's own words and threw them back in his face, satisfied when his king flinched in response.

As the others bickered back and forth Tristan remained silent just absorbing all the new information. It seemed as if that was his role within the group, the quiet observer, Max was the king, Michael the second, his sister the mouth as they'd affectionately nicknamed her, even Serina's role as misunderstood rebel added to the groups dynamics. Yet he was unsure exactly what he added to the pot, how exactly could he help them.

"Hey you penny for your thoughts?" Maria asked taking a seat next to her brother.

Tristan couldn't help but smile when he turned to find her green eyes staring up at him with a mixture of concern and understanding, "Iz doubt deys worth that much..." he answered and felt encouraged when she giggled in response.

"You know Tris, we really haven't had a chance to catch our breath let alone reconnect as brother and sister, but I still know you, and I know somethings got you worried, so spill or I'll be forced to resort to underhanded tactics." Maria threatened raising a hand and twiddling her fingers with purpose.

Tristan's eyes widened in understanding and he quickly threw his hands up in mock surrender, "Okay, okay jeez, Iz just feeling bad for myself is all, look everyones got a part in dis unit but Iz don't really know what my place is, ya know. And now wit all dis crazy shit goin down, Iz not sure how we's goin to get through dis."

Maria listened understanding his fears and doubts, because in all honesty they mirrored her own, she'd been the only human factor to the group for so long, and it defined her role in the unit, but now she had a completely different part to play and she wasn't certain she could fill those shoes. "Look Tris, no one knows more about self doubt than yours truly, I mean up until a few weeks ago I was the only non-alien factor in this equation, add to that the fact that I am now a copy of a dead princess, my mom has been lying to me for the last 17 years of my life and I have a brother who I barely know and is also a clone of his former dead alien prince and well you get the picture. The point is it doesn't matter if my only purpose is to freak out and ramble, because we're a family, regardless of who does what and how much we contribute to the whole, we are your family..."

Once again he found himself smiling at the little pixie seated beside him, "Thanks Maria..."

"Not a problem bro, don't you know that I am the master of free advice." she teased him. It felt good to bond with her brother even if it was in the least likely of places. "Now come on we need to join in on the pow wow..." she helped him up and soon they both rejoined the group.

"Enough!" Max yelled getting everyones attention in the process, "I have no intention of leaving Liz or anyone else behind, but before we can face her and the Crimson Brigade we need as much fire power as possible, and that means grabbing Ava and Rath. Can you really look at me and tell me that I don't care what happens to Liz, My Liz, honestly?" his fists beat against his chest as he repeated her name, causing the others to gasp at the intensity of his emotions.

Isabel watched as her brother's thin reign on his sanity was slowly melting away, he was desperately trying to keep control of the situation, but she knew that one more push and he'd completely crumble. She watched as the haunted emptiness once again fell behind his eyes, and it broke her heart twice over. "Max no one is doubting your love for Liz, we are all just on edge right now and we need to just take a moment and gather our senses." Isabel stepped in trying to salvage her brother's resolve, if they were going to make it out of this place they all needed a king with his witts about him.

"Isabel's right we need to calm down and come up with a plan, together as a team..." Alex stepped up, he'd managed to get his anger back under control and finally noticed what Isabel had been aware of for quite some time, Max was hanging on by a thread.

Max turned to Alex and offered him a half smile in gratitude and then once again addressed his unit, "First of all if we are going to make it out of this alive and in one piece no more arguing with each other, no more second guessing my orders." Max threw his second a glance and watched as Michael shrugged but never argued.

"We move at first light, get some rest and we keep watch in turns, I'll take first and Michael can have second we go down the row from there."

Everyone sombered at his last order and soon the group disbursed into pairs, leaving Max to keep watch, he felt her absence gnaw at his heart painfully. He watched as the others leaned on each other for comfort and support and he longed for her warmth. 'Oh Liz, how do I make it through this?' he wordlessly questioned, but recieved no answer. His thoughts always led him back to one simple conclusion, without her he was empty, without her his life held no meaning.

While the others slept peacefully, content to bask in the warmth and understanding of their lovers embrace, one lone soul cried out in agony. Praying for the strength to do the unimaginable, begging whatever gods existed to lend him the courage to square off against his own heart. What he never realized, what he never noticed while he was lost in thought was that just as he prayed, in a world surrounded by darkness another soul cried out for salvation.

*************

She raged, fighting with every last inch of her soul to take control but once again fate laughed cruelly at her and she was condemned to watch impodent to stop her own hands from committing yet another horrid act. She was a woman divided, trapped within the confines of her own mind, lost and alone, unable to warn her family, that the enemy now wore a loving face, her face.

She felt the anger and rage swirl around her, consuming everything in its wake, leaving only destruction and emptiness, it scared her to admit that this was her true feelings. All the pain she tried to deny, all the anger she pushed aside now returned with ravenous hunger, and Liz Parker would make them all pay. The innocent and the guilty would be judged and sentenced without prejudice, and her pain would drown the world.

Yet still a tiny voice within her heart begged to heard, her last shred of hope, barely a whisper amoung the screams.

'You and I are the same, I have felt your pain, tasted your desire for vengence, I am born of you as you are born of me, let go...' her own voice argued.

'NO!!' she cried out to deaf ears.

'Please don't do this, you will destroy us if you follow this path, you will destroy us all.' she pleaded once more, begging for her own salvation.

'Do you not yet understand what we are?' her voice questioned with conviction, 'We are Vengence Personified and No ONE shall escape our grasp.'

And finally Liz Parker understood the truth, there was no hope left, the darkness in her heart had finally been set free and there would be no reprive. She would punish them all, it is what was locked deep within her, a longing for revenge, a desperate need to lash out at those she loved above all else, those who'd betrayed her so calously.

Memories rushed past her, images of a life long since gone, and as each precious moment passed before her eyes the anger that laid dormant deep within her soul stirred to life. She watched as Zan courted Avanyan, she watched as her brother conspired with the doweger queen to have Zan married off by the next moon phase, and she watched horrified as Ava butchered her, killing her son and daughter still sleeping in her womb, and as the final breath escaped the memory, Liz's heart hardened.

'That's right, they all betrayed us, we who suffered through it all, we who sacrificed for them all, Ava might've delivered the fatal blow but she only had the opportunity because of the others, and they did nothing to stop her, Zan even married the murderous witch not even a year after our death...' the voice demanded retribution, and Liz felt her last shred of hope slip away.

'They will all pay!' two voices blended together seemlessly, booming through the darkness.

*********

"It's time."

Three captains bowed before their queen, each eager to commence and each satisfied with her final transformation. "Yes Majesty."

Her eyes burned violet as power coursed through her body, untamed and wild their seemed to be no end to the amount of raw energy that surrounded her. It crackled in the air around her announcing her presence, "Bring them all before me at once." she commanded a satisfied smile gracing her lips as she watched her captains vanish to complete the task.

It took only seconds for them to return, and with them the entire motley crew was gathered at her feet, she glanced at their shocked faces and smiled, "So good of you to join us.."

Andreaty waved a hand forcing 12 individuals to fall to their knees with a grunt, "You will BOW before the queen!"

"What is GOING ON!" Michael roared finally getting passed his intial shock of the abduction.

"Do not worry dear brother all will be explained soon enough, now where to begin?" Liz answered snidely her hand running carelessly through Ciyan's hair. He was kneeling before her, head bowed, empty eyes glued to the floor. Liz could feel her families questioning glances at the picture she painted, Ciyan kneeling to her right and Tess seated at her feet to the left of her.

"Liz?" Alex asked cautiously.

Liz stood jerking Tess to her feet by a handful of blonde hair, yet she made no sound of discomfort, she simply stayed complacent, "Tess go up to Lonnie and restrain her." she ordered.

The others watched astounded as Tess threw a hand out pushing Lonnie up against the wall, the dupe grunted in pain as she felt the wind punched out of her, "Help Pleassee..." she managed to wheez out. Tess continued to move forward pushing Lonnie further against the wall, her face was completely devoid of any emtion, metallic cobalt eyes stared unseeing out into the world, Tess was no longer in charge of her actions and Lonnie shivered with dread.

"I know you all have alot of questions, but just relax and enjoy the show." Liz explained before the others could get a word out edge wise.

The three captains stood in the background, their eyes lit with amusement as they watched the preceedings, this was working out far better than they could've ever hoped for. Their queen's transformation was now complete, and their was nothing the dead King could do to stop their plans.

"Tess, I am sick of the sight of that treacherous bitch, KILL HER!" Liz's voice boomed with jagged conviction.

Without hesitation Tess walked straight up to Lonnie and pressed a hand to her chest, "NO..PLEASE STOP!!!" Lonnie screamed but it was useless there was no person left inside of Tess's mind to appeal to, "NOOOO!!!!!" the agonizing howl that retched from her lips echoed throughout the room, as Tess boiled her organs. When she was finished all that remained of the once replica Alien Princess, was a cloud of dust and horrid memory forever embeded onto the pod squad's memories.

After what seemed like an eternity of silence Max's voice cracked from his mouth, "Why...Why Liz?" his eyes were immediately trained on her, and what he saw turned the blood in his viens to ice.

Eyes as black as midnight burned into his gaze, Max watched as a twisted grin formed itself on her lips and felt his heart stop, "Why..." she parroted as she glided towards him.

"Why..." she kneeled infront of him and took his face gently in her hands, her lips a mere breath away from his, Liz let her fingers trail delicately down his chiseled jaw line, "...because, I can." Digging her nails into his flesh she waited for his reaction and then dove in for a kiss.

The pain was only momentary, but what followed shortly after was unlike any experience he could ever recall. When her lips crashed down upon his, it was like the world exploded in one dynamic moment. He could feel her rage and pain, but also her passion, it was a flame that licked at his own desire causing him to arch into her touch. Max was on sensory overload, if a mere kiss could shatter his reality with the force of a recking ball, he could only imagine what making love with her would do, or if he'd even survie it.

The pod squad watched as the events unfolded infront of them and couldn't hide the cringe that escaped them, unless someone broke this little PDA fest up and soon, they'd all be in for quite a show. Luckily Evani stepped in and saved them just in time, "Majesty perhaps we should reconvine for a later time, if you want to continue with this..."

Liz pulled back from the kiss and smiled at the dazed expression on Max's face, "That won't be necessary Evani, I think we owe it to my family to hash this out tonight..." Liz answered her captain without taking her eyes off, of Max. She was anxious to continue where they'd left off, but she also knew this was neither the time nor place to finish this. When she let her gaze trail over her family, she was instantly trapped by molten amber shards burning with jealousy. It pained her to know she would have to destroy this man, but their was no other choice, he was not her mate and deep down she knew Zan was well aware of that fact too.

"Now where were we..." Liz bit her lip and debated on how to proceed, "...I suppose you are all curious as to why Tess is suddenly so obdient." When the others just mutely nodded she continued, "Technically you can't consider her to be Tess any longer, she is merely a weapon to use at my discression."

"What?" Serina asked floored by her sister's nonchalant attitude, and Tess's seemingly 180 transformation.

"It seems my captains have come up with a formula that can render a person totally obdient and entirely devoid of all personality traits, to put it simply it turns them into machines." Liz explained her hand coming down once again to play with Ciyan's chocolate locks. He was still in the same position he'd been in since they'd arrived.

"Liz what have you done, how could you do that to Ciyan?" Isabel's voice trembled with raw emotion and Alex wrapped an arm around her in support.

"Isabel don't be stupid, I would never think of harming Ciyan, but unfortunately I was to late to reverse Tess's mindwarps, what you see before you is a result of weeks of non stop mindwarpping..." Liz gently lifted Ciyan's chin up, so she could look into his eyes, for a brief moment she found a hint of recognition but it was instantly gone. "I've tried to use my powers to break through the fog in his mind, but up until now all I've had are brief seconds to coherantness, perhaps with Max's help I can reach him, but for now he is atleast at peace." Liz informed the Royal's and returned Ciyan to his previous position.

"So what's next Liz, because I'm assuming this demonstration wasn't the only reason you gathered us all together." Rath spat his words laced with venom as he stared at the abomination his sister has become.

"Now, now Rath there is no need for spite, you will know your fate soon enough." Liz coaxed and fell back unto her chair. She motioned to her Captains, who bowed and disappeared from sight. The next part of the plan would leave a lasting scar upon her heart, and Liz was well aware of that fact, but she could not turn back now, to much had already transpired. "As for the rest of you, I once considered you my unit, my family, but the weight of the past bares down upon my soul and I can not forgive the atrocities that befell me at your hands..." As she spoke her eyes lingered on both Max and Michael, the two who she most loved and whose betrayals cost her the most pain.

"How can you say that Liz, we never betrayed you, never!" Serina burst out, tears shinning in her eyes.

"Rina I am sure that you believe this to be true but it does not change facts, facts that point otherwise. I can sit here an debate all night, but I will not change my position."

"And what is your position?" Max asked, it was the first time he'd spoken since their kiss and he was hesistant to hear her answer.

"I will take back what is rightfully mine as queen, the court shall remain but all power will be stripped, Max will be king only in name and as for the dupes and the tyrant known as Khivarr they shall be eliminated..."

Gasps followed her news and soon an uproar sounded as the others voiced their disaggreements, "SILENCE!" Liz roared her eyes glowing violet with power as a strong gust of wind kicked up from the surge of energy. "This is not up for discussion, I am not asking your permissons, this is how it is!"

"Evani?" Liz called out and as if on cue her captain appeared at her side, "Secure my family, make sure they are prepared to depart by the end of the week, also take Rath, Ava and Zan to the holding cells and prepare them aswell."

"Yes Majesty."

"But leave Max here I have much to discuss with my king..." Liz explained and trained her sights on Max, she was not surprised to find him staring at her already, but she found it difficult to read his eyes.

Minutes crawled and left two leaders locked in a silent battle, their family and friends were now gone, safely stowed away, for a later time. This meeting was to be the final culmination of years of planning, the true test of wills, and perhaps the last hope that all was not lost. Yet for all accounts it was nothing more than two lost souls searching through the darkness of lies and deciet, trying to find their way back home to the light and perhaps to each other one last time.

Chapter 31

"So this is who you want to be now?" Max questioned his eyes never once leaving her gaze.

Her beauty never ceased to amaze him, even now when she was so twisted with anger and rage, she was the most breathtaking creature he'd ever laid eyes on. Yet it was this same beauty that tore an empire apart, leading to her death and finally the death of everyone he held dear. He'd known it from the very beginning, from the moment a scrawny little girl, with dirt smudged on her cheek and scrapped knees came barreling into his life. There would never be another for him, she was the be all and end all of his life, and now was no exception.

"You are not a killer Liz, and your not this bitter person bent on revenge, this..." he pointed at the scroched mark that was once Lonnie, "...is not who you are!" Max's voice rose to a powerful cry, but she simply continued to stare at him with unchanging eyes.

The silence was deafening, it seemed to stretch for hours, when in reality it only lasted a few seconds, "Then who am I?" she asked her voice barely a whisper.

He watched as her walls crumbled, and in the midst of all turmoil that raged within her mind he caught a glimpse of the girl she used to be, "Your Liz Parker, your a caring and understanding sister, a smart and responsible friend, and your also the love of my lives"

She couuld feel his determination as he spoke and she could see the love shinning in his eyes when he looked at her, but she could not allow these sentiments to cloud her resolve, no matter how much she wanted to believe them true.

"No Max, that is who you want me to be, but the reality is far more complicated." Liz answered as she stepped to his left her eyes lingering only briefly on him. "The girl that is sketched upon your heart is gone, she may never have been real to begin with. You hold me so high up on a pedastel that not even a saint could hold a candle, you will only find disappointment I promise you."

This meeting was taking a toll on her, it had been easy to keep up appearances when her family was gathered, but now with only the heat of Max's stare, Liz found it exhausting to reamain indifferent. Her heart was thrashing, beggin for her to fall into this man's arms, to allow what little comfort she would know in her life to drown out the anger.

"I will not be moved, my decision remains..." her voice trembled slightly as she felt him step up to her, his breathe warm and intoxicating at the nape of her neck.

Max knew his proximity was affecting her, he could all but feel the way her pulse leaped, or the way her skin flushed, "Your body betrays you my love, even now with all your harsh words, you blush like a school girl." he let a hand skim over the flesh of her arm and delighted at the goosebumps that followed his progression.

He was too close, Liz pulled away from his touch as if burned by the contact, "I..I don't know what your talking about, I think it's best if we continue this later.." Before she could finish her statement Max's lips descended upon her, she fought only for a second before she responded to his kiss.

Defiance burned into passion, sending them both spiraling into the flames, with the heightened state of their emotions adding to the connection, thoughts and feelings raged between them. Memories overlapped blurring into each other, and two lives merged into a single existence.

She felt like she was falling, deeper and deeper into the flames, "Max..." she moaned as he sucked at the sensitive pulse at the base of her neck. He was driving her mad, igniting such desire that she felt she'd never hit solid ground again.

His kisses grew more demanding, and he poured all the love and passion he had for her into them, hoping to breakdown the walls she'd so elaborately raised around her heart and soul. Pinning her to the wall, he let his lips travel over her heated skin, paying particular attention to the delicate lobes of her ears. When she wrapped her legs around his waist and let her heat grind into him, all his restraint vanished.

Liz thrilled when she heard Max growl, before pumping a few times against her, "Liz..." She pulled back panting for breath and saw her own desires mirrored in his obsidean pools. "I need...I need you..." she managed to pant out in breathy moans before pressing her lips once more to his.

Hearing her desires, spiked his own need for her and an animalistic craving took root in his heart, "Oh God Liz...do you have any idea what you do to me?" he growled and ripped her shirt open, exposing her perfect globes to him. 'Beautiful...'

In the haze of lust that clouded her mind, Liz found herself desperate for his touch, she needed to feel his lips, like she needed her next breath of air. When she felt his mouth latch onto one of her puckered nipples it sent a jolt of electricity shooting through her body, and finally pooling at her core. "MAX!" she cried out while rubbing her heat against his apperant arousal.

"Fuck me Max, I want to you to Fuck Me Hard and Fast!" she cried out her midnight eyes staring back at him.

Her dirty words ripped through him and all coherent thought flew from his mind, with one quick tug her skirt was ripped from her body, leaving her in only a pair of black lace thongs. Once again he wasted no time in ripping those off her aswell, "God...your so wet and hot Liz..." Max groaned as he slipped two digits into her passage.

A scream tore from her lips as he pumped into her awaiting heat, "YES..."

The room was filling with an intense amount of energy, which crackled and hissed with power. They could set the whole room on fire, with the amount of lust that was pouring off them, bathing their surrounding in a brilliant light show of gold and amethyst.

They were drunk of each other, addictted to each others taste and scent, but deep within the hidden recesses of her mind Liz begged to be released from her self made chains. She was calling out to her mate, baiting him with her desires, and when she felt the tip of his arousal rub against her heat, she nearly cried out in pleasure.

"HIGHNESS NO!" Evani's voice boomed into the room and with a wave of her hand Max went flying against the opposite wall.

"WHAT THE HELL!?" Max spat but before he could gain his bairings both Liz and Evani were gone.

*********

"What's her status?" Evani barked out.

Ambrosia ran a glowing head over Liz's unconscious body, "She's out cold and so far she appears to be stable." she answered.

"Yo Vani what's the big fucking deal, she's had her way with Zan for nearly a week already, why the sudden titty attack?" Andreaty asked, still confused by Evani's sudden outburst...

Flashback...

The trio had just returned from securing the prisoners and were about to head back for some much needed R&R. They'd been pleased with their queen's actions and they were excited by all the possibilities that were a mere breath away.

"Did you see her in their, she didn't even bat a lash when she ordered Tess to kill Lonnie, did you see the king's face, it was priceless..." Andreaty snorted nudging Ambrosia.

"Yeah it was completely razor..." Ambrosia commented.

Evani was about to join in with the banter, when she felt her world tip on its axis, and like a sudden ripple in the fabric of time she realized something was very wrong. "Shit!" she cursed before disappearing and leaving a very confused and anxious Ambrosia and Andreaty in her wake.

He turned to his sister, "What's that about?"

Amborsia shrugged and both continued on their way...

End Flashback....

"Are you two really that blind?" Evani asked in dismay and by the blank stares she recieved in return she knew they had not felt the reversal. She blew out a breath and tried to explain.

"Zan is one thing, she can fuck him till she's blue in the face, but Max is the real king, he aint some dupe imposter, his seal is legit and if they would've continued and done the beast with two backs, all our planning would've gone up in smoke."

"What are you talking about, she's already awakened there is no going back now...right?" Ambrosia questioned.

"No Ambro, that's where your wrong, she may have awakened but it is not irreversable, their is still a piece of her that begs to be released and it is that piece that ties her to this life." Evani turned and let her eyes roam over the sleeping queen, "Unfortunately we were to late to prevent her bonding, Max is her Mate and as such he holds a power over her as she does him, if he willed it she could reverse the programming and that is what was about to happen, had I arrived a second later."

Andreaty blew let out a breath and patted his sister on the back, "Way to stay ontop of shit Vani...anyways, so problem solved we just keep Maxie on a short leash and away from her highness over there." he pointed at Liz's over his shoulder and continued, "No sweat."

"Wrong again baby bro, it aint that easy, she wont be able to resist him and especially not when Sardonian Mating season is so close at hand, or did you forget that little piece of information..." Evani supplied and rolled her eyes.

"Shit, I completely forgot about that..."

"Obviously"

"Shut up Ambro, you didn't remember either, so what now Vani we can't keep her unconscious especially when we are so close to departure."

Evani let her thoughts still for a moment and searched in her mind for an answer, "We have no choice we have to push our plans up and awaken Max."

"Are you sure Vani? I mean I know that was an option but I never imagined we would actually attempt it, if it didn't take we would be at a serious disadvantage, having the boy king at our backs is one thing, but to reunite both Alexia and Zan in awakened states is extremely volatile." Ambrosia stated with concern, her eyes darting back an forth between her sister and her queen.

"Right now he is more of a danger to us and our mission as the simple boy king, but if we are successful..." Evani's eyes glazed over as thoughts barreled through her mind, "...can you even imagine the power those two will be able to wield, no force in heaven or hell will be albe to defy them, and we shall reap all the spoils."

The trio smiled as blood soaked fantasies smeared before their eyes, a world of pure chaos and death awaited them and soon not even the gods would be able to remain impassive.

"So it's decided then?" Andreaty asked pulling himself out of the silence.

When all three nodded, they set out to device a plan of attack that would break the once and future king and allow them to remold a tyrant from his ashes.

************

In their rooms the royals waited with growing concern, Max had not returned yet and the connection with Liz had been severed almost completly. Everyone was walking on eggshells and it seemed that their future was very bleak indeed.

"This is ridiculous, are we just supposed to sit back and wait to be excuted like Lonnie?" Michael spat his eyes black as coal.

"Michael relax, no one said we were giving up, we just need to regroup and wait for Max." Isabel assured him and continued to pace the length of the room.

Michael was about to argue, when he heard his sister whimper from her place on the couch, he turned to find his sister wrapped in Tristan's arms. Serina had not spoken a single word since the encounter with Liz, and Michael could feel her pulling away and shutting down through their connection. He threw Alex a concerned look and both aggreed silently that this was not good. Though she appeared hard-edged, Michael knew his baby sister was far from the sort, and being witness to her sister's complete 180 had broken a piece of her spirit.

With the utmost care Michael gently lifted Serina into his lap and out of Tristan's arms, he sent his thanks to the man with his eyes and returned his attention to the shivering sister in his arms. "Rina, please snap out of it, we will get her back, I promise, but I need you..." he whispered to her as his hands stroked her hair soothingly.

Serina could feel her brother's love through their connection, but the cold rage that tainted her sister's eyes was still a heavy burden on her heart. She'd never seen so much pain before, and to know that Alexia blamed her was proving to be more than she could handle. "She hates us..." her hoarse voice whispered.

At the sound of her pain Alex fell to the ground by Michael's feet, "Oh Rina, she doesn't hate us, she's just confused, they've poisoned her against us, but we'll get her back...I Promise, we'll get her back." He threw his arms around his sister and poured all the love he could into their connection.

The others watched on in saddness, Isabel clinging to Maria who was now also clinging to Tristan, they too felt the pain of losing Liz, but not as profound as the trio before them. They could only imagine what their bond was like, and to feel the lose of their sister was probably more than any of them could bare.

The moment was suddenly broken, when they heard the door slam open and then watched as a very dishelved Max was thrown in. The others watched as Max beat his fists against the door and called out for Liz.

"Max?" Isabel approached him cautiously, she could feel the anger rolling of him in waves and by the look of his appearance whatever had transpired between the two was not good.

Max turned at the sound of his name and stared blankly at his sister, but quickly regained his composure and faced the others, "Is everyone here and accounted for?" he asked Michael.

Hearing the authority in his voice spurred Michael to action, he deposited Serina into Alex's awaiting arms and stood to face his king, "Yes, the unit is present an accounted for only Liz is missing and Ciyan is resting in the other room."

"What is Ciyan's status?"

This time Isabel answered, "He is still unconscious and seems to be resting peacefully, but any attempt we have made to try an awaken him has been futile." she finished sadly and awaited Max's next order.

Max took in the groups appearance and was not pleased, they seemed unsure and crippled by sorrow, if they were going to get out of this in one piece they needed to keep it together. "Listen up all of you..." he let his eyes meet each of those of his unit, "We are not defeated, and I will not stand by and watch my unit fall apart understand?" Max paused and paced the length of the room, "Take a moment, regain your balance and be ready to move in an hour, I'm going to try and break through to Ciyan."

That said Max strode into Ciyan's room, the pod squad stared in disbelief as their king left without a second glance their way. It was like a wall had risen around Max's emotions and the distraught man who'd emerged in their room only minutes ago had been completely transformed into the fearless no-nonsense King that now stood before them.

"So, his majesty has spoken..." Michael grunted caustically.

"Michael..." Maria warned, but she was also a bit taken back by Max's attitude, she could understand his logic behind it, but the bite in his words was had to swallow.

"He's right..." Serina's voice drifted from her position next to Alex. She'd squirmed out of his arms when she'd heard Max's orders, and though it was still difficult to function properly underneath the weight of Liz's actions, she was able to regain a small piece of her composure. "If we're going to get Liz back and get out of here alive wes need to bone up."

Tristan smiled at her comment and finally feeling hope take root in his heart, "Yous heard da little lady wes need to Bone Up!"

Everyone laughed at his comment and even Serina found herself unable to hide the smile that spread over her lips, perhaps they really did still have a chance.

In Ciyan's barely lit room...

"Come on baby brother, let me in..." Max pleaded as he pressed glowing hands to Ciyan's temples. Almost immediately he was hit with wave after wave of Tess's residual power, and anger coursed through him. Max took a deep breath and pushed away the rage that threatened to consume him at Tess's blatant attempt to use his brother. Max could almost find the poetic justice in her role now, 'Serves the foul bitch right, she has become that which she tried so desperately to impose...'

Max stared down at the tranquil face of his brother, images flashed before his eyes, he could not remember the last time he'd ever seen him so serene. It was a sad thought, that only in this most dire of circumstance could his brother find true peace.

"I am so sorry Ciyan, nothing I do or say will ever make up for what I've cost you, for the wrong I've done to you..." Max's voice cracked with pain, and he wiped furiously at the tears that spilled down his cheeks. "I swear to you, no matter what it takes or how far I have to go to prove it to you, I will spend the rest of my life atoning for my sins, just please give me the oppurtunity...Please. I just really want to know my brother again." his hands rested on Ciyan's chest as he cried with his head on his shoulder, begging the gods to answer this one prayer.

Within the dream, the dreamer stirred, he'd felt the sorrow of a brother he'd never understood, and for once it dawned on him, whatever pain he'd felt was dwarfed by the pain his brother now struggled with. And the dreamworld shattered...

Max felt a hand squeeze his and jumped back stunned, his mouth gaping as a familiar pair of hazel eyes stared back with recognition. "How..What?"

Ciyan smiled, "What's up bro, yous didn't think I'd let you get off dis easy, not after hearing yous vow to be my slave..." he lightly teased and the two embraced.

That is how Isabel found them, two brothers finally finding peace between them, and she couldn't stop the tears of happiness that fell. Finally it seemed they were finding their way out of the dark, only one more obsticle to face and she had every confidence they'd persevere. After all they were all due for alittle good luck...
