Chapter 21

After an hour, Liz came back to the room, Val was alone. She studied the note. When she noticed Liz, she stopped. –“One of us should go buy this stuff. Candles, mostly.”- she told her. –“It’s like some witch’s spell”.- she said with a smile.

“I’ll go. I need to get out anyway. You remember the words.” – Val nodded and gave her the list. Liz got out through the balcony and down the stairs. She didn’t even wonder where Zan was.

Max was in his room, writing his homework. His mind was focused on Liz and Kevin. He heard a knock on his window. With all the people getting in his room like that, he had no idea who it could be any more. He walked over to it and saw Zan there. He opened it. –“What’s up? Is it Liz?”- his first reaction was.

Zan shock his head. –“No. Can I come in?”- Max nodded and moved a bit to let him get in. Then he returned to his chair and looked at him, waiting to hear why he was here.

“Alright, we need to talk. That guy, Kevin, Michael was right about him. He’s bad news. The worst, actually. I heard them talk how he doesn’t want to kiss Liz but I didn’t pay much attention to it. Until she came up today and told me and Val that it was Khivar.” – Max stood up, shocked.

“I know, man. But he gave Liz a note. With instructions how to bring Kivana Eli back. And they’re gona do it tomorrow.” – he told him. Max shook his head. He wouldn’t believe it. He refused to believe that Liz would do anything so risky. Then again, he wasn’t even sure how much he knew her anymore.

“What do we do?” – he asked Zan and got a shrug. –“Don’t know. That’s why I came to you. They invited me to go with them, her. I said yes ‘cos there is no way in hell I’m letting her go on her own. Don’t trust Khivar as far as I can throw him.” – Max’s eyes almost dropped.

“Invited you? Why you?” – he snapped. –“’cos, I’ve got no attachments here. How’re you gona ever explain to mommy and daddy that you were up there for a week.” – he had a good point.

Liz went to a local china shop. One of two. As soon as she came in, she found Maria there. She walked over to her. –“Lunch break, ha?”- she asked her friend who nodded. –“What are you doing here, Liz?”- she heard her friend as her. – “Maria, I know that with all that’s been going on, we haven’t had much time together. With Alex either. I want to make it up for you.”- Maria shrugged to that.

“Got 15 minutes?” – her friend nodded and Liz told her the short version of everything that’s been going on through these weeks. And Maria took it so easy. Much better then Liz thought she would.

“Cool. So you need this stuff.” – she said holding the list. She couldn’t understand a word it said but she was here to help. Liz nodded and took the list reading it. It was hard. It wasn’t all the symbols as that book the four had but it was a special language too. Ryctor one to be correct, so only a few people could read it, which included Val and Liz.

”Alright, I need four middle sized white candles.” – she said and Maria was right on it. She seamed to know her way around this place. –“Four middle sized white candles, check!”-she heard her said. Liz checked the list again.

”Two tall red ones.” – Maria was right on it. –“Two tall red ones, check!”- she said repeating her words. She put it all in the basket Liz held in her hands. Liz checked the list again. She couldn’t read it right and if she as reading it right, it didn’t make any sense. –“I need green gel.” – she said, not believing it. The store had that as well. –“Max size.”- she told Maria without the question being even asked. She got a strange look from her blond friend. –“Don’t look at me. I didn’t write the list, not in this life time.”- they both giggled to that.

They got to the cash register. A bit older Chinese woman worked there. –“So, Michael told me that she was beautiful. Could you believe this, my best friend, you are my best friend, right?”- Maria said with laughter in hr voice. Liz nodded her head. –“Is a princess of a now non-existing planet!”- she smiled to that.

They got to the old woman. The woman kept staring at her. –“Are you alright?”- she asked at the old woman, who then nodded, putting out a small box. Liz and Maria exchanged the looks. Maria looked around; there was no one else in the store.

“My family is very spiritual turned. I myself believe in past lives. I do see you as a princess. And I think you will be getting re-born again.” – Liz stood there, not understanding how she knew. Her attention turned to the box as she took out two strings, with the jewellery holding them together. A simple circle. The old woman took the circle and divided them into two peaces and gave them to Liz, both of them.

“I think you are going on a huge journey and you must be prepared. This is for your other self.” – she told her and removed to box from the table. Liz put the it in her pocket.

She wanted to ask something about it but the woman started charging the candles and gel already. –“24 $”- she just said and Liz handed it to her.

They left the store, feeling very weird, but Liz didn’t dare to take the things out of her pocket, not until she was home. Maria went to work while Liz went on the back. It was not easy getting up with her bags. She got to the balcony and stopped. –“A little bit of a help would do go. And you won’t believe what just happened. This really weird . . .”- she started telling the story as she kneeled and noticed that Zan, Max, Michael, Isabel and Val were in the room. –“Hi . . .”- she said, stunned and looked at Val, who pointed at Max and Zan; who stood next to each other.

Chapter 22

The place was Liz’s room. Max, Zan, Michael, Isabel and Val waited for Liz. Val felt a bit disappointed in Zan that he went to Max but thinking about it made her realize that he really did love her and that he wanted to protect her. After a while, she heard Liz’s voice outside on the balcony but she said nothing. Then Liz came to the window and saw them all. –“Hi . . .”- Liz said and looked at Val. Not meaning to, Val looked at Max and Zan, pointing the one to blame.

Liz came inside and put her bags down, leaning on the window pane. –“So, what are you, guys, doing in my room?”- she asked them, trying to keep it calm. She looked at Michael, who clearly didn’t want to get involved, and then she looked who seamed to be fighting her own demons. Finally, she turned to her left, to face Max and Zan. –“So, any of you, boys, got anything to say?”- she asked the two.

“Liz, I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have but I’m worried about the two of you. They should know, in case something goes wrong.” – Zan confessed. Liz would have said something if Max didn’t cut in.

“Liz, all this is ridiculous. You belong here, with us. I don’t trust Khivar one bit. I’m not ready to en-trust the thing I value the most to him!” – Liz raised her eyebrows. How he said it, was nice. The word ‘thing’ was not something she liked. At all. She looked at his for a second, silently. The room was silent as well.

“Didn’t you hear what I just said? You can’t go! I won’t let you go! You’re not going, and that’s final!” – he said sharply. And before he knew it, he got hit in the face with Liz’s palm. He looked back at her.

“How many times will we have to have this conversation, Max? You are not my king? I am not part of your royal four. In fact, you have me to thank that you are here today, alive. So don’t you dare tell me what to do ‘cos I won’t have it from you. Val, Zan and I will be in the pod chamber tomorrow. If you want to be there, you can, but only to be there.” – she told him.

“We will need you guys too. The three of you and Tess. Convince her because we need her.” – Val’s voice came suddenly. Max kept staring at Liz for a while and then he looked at Val, nodding.

The three left the room and Liz looked at Zan. –“Don’t do that ever again, no matter how good your intention may be.”- he nodded and she stormed down the stairs and walked to the Valenti’s home.

Isabel, Michael and Max took a walk through the park and discussed the situation. The two pushed away saying how they can’t make that call for Liz and neither should he. They turned to one way and Max went to the Valenti’s house.

When he came to the door, he knocked on them and Kyle opened. He wanted to say something but Kyle turned away and returned to the living room. He found Liz there, talking to him, Tess and the sheriff.

She looked at him for a second. Tess then got up and followed him to her room. –“She just told me.”- she said before he could say anything. Neither knew how well Liz’s hearing had gotten. –“I’m not sure I’m ready to trust her with out only way home. I can’t.”- he nodded. –“I know. But . . . ”- he tried to convince her, as much as he needed to believe it. –“We need you on board. Zan is going to go. If you can’t trust her, then trust him, because . . . well, he’s me kind of.”- he told her.

She leaned closer to him, which Liz could see. Kyle kept talking but she couldn’t really hear him. She was too focused on Tess and Max.

Tess looked at Max nodding what he said. –“Yea, you’re right. I’m sorry.”- she answered him and then he pulled her closer to him, kissing her strongly. Liz could see that. He held his hands around Tess’s back, their bodies so close. Tess put her hands around his neck. The kiss was long and very passionate but it was nothing like Liz’s and Max’s, Liz needed to believe that. She didn’t get flashes of any kind and neither did he. She was right, nothing.

She turned to Kyle. –“Sorry, what?”- she asked him. He repeated his question. –“How can you be sure, Liz? Can you really trust Khivar?”- she nodded to his words. –“I suppose you’re right. I’m going on my gut but I have to believe that my own blood will trust and respect that much not to kill me. Because that’s all I have. He’s all I have, really.”- he walked over to her and hugged. She didn’t understand what was that. Max and Tess came back to the room. Liz didn’t notice them at first.

She looked at Kyle. –“What was that for?”- she asked him. –“For you to remember that you will always have us. This little crazy gang as your family, not some mean dude from space!”- she smiled, nodding. –“You’re right. But I have to try.”- and he nodded to. Liz shifted her attention to Max and Tess. First her look was to Max and then to Tess.

“I’ll do it. I’ll help you, Liz.” – Liz smiled to that and walked over to her, hugging her. Neither Max nor Tess understood why but when Liz pulled back and explained. –“Thank you. And I want to apologize. I know it’s impossible for ask forgiveness after what I did to you but know that I am sorry. I never wanted to kill you.”-

Max looked at Liz and then back at Tess, without a word. –“Yes, you did but it wasn’t you, right? You’re just half of her, right?”- she said and Liz nodded.

“Yea. I have to get going now.” – she told them and walked to Kyle, hugging him and then she walked to the sheriff and hugged him too. – “There’s a chance I won’t see you before we go so I wanted to say goodbye now.”- she told them and started walking to the doors.

“We’re not saying, Liz. We’re saying bye and see you in a week.” – she could hear Kyle’s voice behind her. She stopped for a bit as a tear fell to her check. But she didn’t look back, she opened the doors, got out and closed the doors behind her.

After she left, Kyle turned to Max and Tess; he turned to Max for answers. –“We will see here again, right? She’s coming back, right, Max?”- he asked him over and over again.

“I don’t know, Kyle. I want to think that but I have no idea what’s going to happen.” – she told him the truth and Tess hugged him. He needed someone to hug right now.

Chapter 23

That night, Max was alone in his room. He sat on his bed, with him thoughts locked tight on Liz and their time together. Kyle’s questions upset him pretty bad and all he could think about now was loosing Liz for good. His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the window. He thought it was Michael, or maybe evens Zan but when he moved the curtains away; he saw Liz’s face, looking at him.

He opened the window and stretched his hand for her. She didn’t take it the last time she was here and he wasn’t sure if she would tonight but his hand, as well as his heart was still open to her. She took it, to his surprise and got inside.

As she was inside, they were so close to each other but not touching. She looked into his eyes and the moment was absolute silence.

“Max, wanted to talk to you.” – she finally started, to brake the long silence. He nodded and sat on his bed, looking at her. She started walking around. She didn’t know how to start. He said nothing, he gave her space.

“Do you remember that night when you sang under my balcony?” – she started with a question. He nodded. He remembered every bit of it. Boy, was he wrong.

“And how you threw the roses to me and how they turned white because you remember I like the red roses?” – he nodded again, not sure where this was going.

“I spent a week learning the lyrics from Mr. Delgado at the hardware store.” – she then said, repeating word by word what Future Max had told her. He stood there, confused; this was something he had never told her. But still he said nothing.

“I had to do something to get your attention. You had shut me out.” – she said another thing Future Max had told her. It was almost like she was in his heard, reading his thoughts. –“Liz, what are you?”-

She motioned with her hand for him not to say anything. –“And then you and Tess met and you realized I was setting you up. Then I came to you that night and told you about Romeo and Juliet. And then after that, he came to me and saw with Kyle. You didn’t just have the tickets in your hand, did you, Max?”- she asked him. He kept looking at her, not sure what she was asking him.

“Maybe a condom?” – she said, her voice showed a bit of an anger she had, even when Future Max told her about it. Max’s eyes wide, he didn’t understand how she could know about it. –“How did you . . .?” – he started but Liz cut him right there.

“Know? I had a little help from the future, Max. That night when you came under by balcony, a light flashed on it, there you were . . . you, with 14 years on you. Longer hair, leather clothing and still that look in your eyes that no other guy has ever had.” – she said, smiling.

“What are you talking about?” – he carried on with his question, trying not to pay attention to her smile. –“The granilith is a very important thing to your world. Used in the wrong hands, it can be very dangerous. I didn’t tell you that, just like that. You told me that. You used it to come back in time and save you, everyone. Earth.”- he showed misbelieve but she didn’t have time for it right now. She had to tell him all she could remember from Future Max.

“That night, when you came with the tickets, we were supposed to make love.” – she finally said, looking down. –“Our relationship would go so deep that nothing would destroy. Expect the end of the world.”- Max’s eyes grew larger; he couldn’t believe what she was telling him.

“What? Why would that happen?” – he moved on with his questions. –“Because you, Michael, Isabel and Tess are a unit. Each of you has different gifts and together, you are perfect. Apart, you are too weak to save the world.”- she paused for a moment, remembering what he told her, she didn’t want to get anything wrong. –“Because of us, and the way you treated Tess, she left. What neither of you knew then was that she was important for us. So when our . . . your enemies came, you couldn’t beat them. You watched Michael and Isabel die; just 30 minutes for you came he died in your arms.”- she told him.

“I couldn’t risk that. You loosing the person that you care about.” – she finished. –“I've fought a thousand battles...but watching you do that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.”- she finished with something Future Max had told her before leaving her. Max looked down and back up as she said it. –“That’s what he said . . .after you saw me and Kyle.”- he said.

”You did all of that to save us.” –she nodded to his question. She watched him go up and walked close to her, putting his palm on her check. –“Do you have any idea how much I love your right now, Liz? You sacrificed us for Michael and Isabel.”- he said and kissed her. She kissed him back for a moment but when she realized, she moved back.

“You’re a greater person then I thought.” – he told her, he kept looking at her. Looking at his eyes, she realized his fears, of loosing her. And she felt like that ever since Future Max had left her. Loosing Max was one of the hardest things she had to do in her life. She smiled at his for a bit and then she kissed him. He opened his eyes in the middle of the kiss to make sure it was here but the flashes came in soon after.

The two of them when they were kids, Max healing her, all their times together, Liz dancing with Future Max. He put his other hand on her waist as the walked to his backwards and on his and he looked at her for a second. She was so beautiful.

She kissed him again and started unbuttoning his shirt. One button, two buttons, God, how many buttons does it have, Max thought to himself as he kissed her neck. He returned to her mouth and kissed her again.

For a second, he stopped and looked into her eyes, a connect unbreakable. –“I want you to make love to me now, Max.”- he heard her whisper to him and he kissed her again. She was incredible. And she was giving herself to him.

She pushed him to the bed. He sat down on it, looking at her. She grabbed her top and took it off, over her head. She wore a white bra. He looked at it and then he kissed her in the middle of her chest, between her breasts. She put her hands around his neck; while his hands went behind her waist.

She leaned her head to him and they kissed again. He unbuttoned her pants as he kissed her. He kept kissing her but only moved his lips to her chin, then her neck, then her belly. She laughed as it tickled her. He looked back to her eyes. He didn’t want to hurt her. She smiled at him. She was alright.

He unzipped his pants and she pushed him to the bed. He lay there, looking at her as she got on top of him. They continued kissing as he moved his hands behind her back and felt her bra. It took him a moment to get it right but he realized it. As she felt it loose, she moved back. She sat there, over him, moving one holder over her shoulder and then the next. She stood there for a bit, looking at him.

His hand went to hers, pulling them to him. Her bra fell off on his stomach. He took it and he threw it on the floor, without moving his eye from her. She was perfect. Perfect. He didn’t care what others said, to her, she was the prefect creature. He leaned forward and sat up, their noses met.

He gave her a kiss at first. She took his hand and put it on her left breast. She followed the hand and he kissed it. Once twice, it felt nice. He returned to her face and kissed her. She lifted her body gently and pulled down her jeans. He helped her with his hands as they kissed. Then he did the same, this time, she helped him.

This was it. It was before. The moment that would change their life forever. He didn’t a condom anymore. He froze for a second, looking at her. –“Liz, I don’t . . .”- she heard him say and she put her pointing finger over his lips and got of from the bed. She walked to her jeans and pulled out one from them. She was using his way.

She came back to the bed and gave it to him. He took it and looked at her. –“I love you.”- she told him. He smiled for a second, watching her. Remembering every bit of her, just to be sure. –“I love you too. I love you to the end of the space and back.”- he told her and kissed her strong again.

<center>At the mirror you fix your hair and put your makeup on
You're insecure about what clothes to wear
I can't see nothing wrong

To me you look so beautiful when you can't make up your mind
It's half past eight, it's getting late
It's OK, take your time

Standing here my hands in my pockets
Like I have a thousand times
Thinking back it took one breath
One word to change my life

Chorus:
The first time I saw you it felt like coming home
If I never told you I just want you to know
You had me from hello

When we walk into a crowded room it's like we're all alone
Everybody tries to kidnap your attention
You just smile and steal the show

You come to me and take my hand
We start dancin' slow
You put your lips up to my ear and whisper way down low

Chorus:
From the first time I saw you it felt like coming home
If I never told you I just want you to know
You had me from hello

And when you're laying down beside me
I feel your heartbeat to remind me...

Chorus:
The first time I saw you it felt like coming home
If I never told you I just want you to know
You had me from hello

From hello
From hello

Couple of hours later, Liz opened her eyes. It was the middle of the night. She found herself in Max’s bed. She could feel his body next to her and his hand over her stomach. She looked around and saw the alarm clock. It was about 3 in the morning. She smiled. This was really nice.

She tried to free herself from his hand but it woke him up. She looked at him. –“Liz?”- he said, with a bit of a sleepy voice and a smile on his face. –“Don’t go yet.”- he whispered out.

She leaned to him and kissed him. –“I have to. But, I need to talk to you first. Can you listen?”- she asked him, to be sure. She didn’t want to talk while he was asleep. Her speech was no good with him sleeping.

He moved a bit up to get a good position, and then he rubbed his eyes and looked at her. She looked so beautiful even at this hour. And then it surprised him. He knew how she looked in the morning. He had seen her so many times. And he loved it. He saw love and strength in her eyes that made him proud to love her. He finally nodded to her question. He was awake and ready to listen. But deep inside, he knew he didn’t want to hear it.

“Max, I leave in about 5 hours. I don’t know what’s up there or if we’re coming back. Just listen.” – she started. She saw he was going to say something but she wanted to get this out of her chest first. –“I love you. I’ve loved you since the moment you brought me back to life and I will, probably until I die. I tried changing our future, making you not love me. I tried to change. But it doesn’t work that way. My soul is a person of its own. But I do know is that this can’t go beyond tonight. I wanted something to remember you, completely. Something to make me smile and feel loved up there. I know that sounds like I’m using you . . . but I needed it.”- she paused. He said nothing, not sure if she was finished. He took her hand and kissed it. He didn’t hold it against her, not in any moment of this night.

“I saw you with Tess tonight. You look good together. I see you two going pretty well. I don’t mind. It’s not that I don’t care, I do. I hate her so much. But that’s only because I love you so much. And I think you should try it with her. But if it doesn’t work, don’t let her leave. You need her. You may not realize it yet but you need Tess. And I need this trip home. To find some peace.” – a tear ran from her eyes. Max saw it.

He pulled her to him. She rested her head on his chest. –“I will wait for you. You might not like it but my heart is yours, Liz. And I will do what you tell me. I’ll try with Tess. I will. But it wills you then I will love. It will be you that I will dream of being with. Always.”- she looked back and smiled and kissed him again.

He rapped his eyes around her as she started to try now. She couldn’t stop herself. She just started to realize how much they had grown since that day in Crashdown. And still he loved and she loved him.

That very same night, when Liz came to Max; another pair spoke of the future. Zan and Val lay in Liz’s bed with their clothes on. He had his hands rapped around her as she sighed loudly. –“What’s going to happen tomorrow, Zan?”- she asked him. Her voice showed fear.

“I don’t know. I try to stay strong for the two of you but I don’t know. And it scares me. It scares that I could loose you. That it’s a trap. That nothing is as you two remember. That’s chaos up there. I’m afraid of loosing you or our daughter, Val.” – he told her up straight. She turned around and looked at him. She put her palm on his face and moved it gently down with a smile.

“I’m scared too. But I have to believe that Kivana Eli will solve this. And I need you to believe. Because if you don’t believe then who will?” – she asked him. She felt like crying but she couldn’t. Zan put his hand on Val’s stomach. She was only 6 weeks pregnant and already, it looked like 6 months. –“She will always believe.”- they both laughed to it, but both knew it was true. It would true some day. Their daughter would believe for both of them.

Across down, in the Whitman house, one light was one. It was Alex’s. He sat next to his window and held his guitar. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to play it or not but he just held it, thinking. So much had happened, it just a few weeks. Christmas was only 3 weeks away and nobody paid any attention. Not even Isabel, the well known Christmas Nazi.

And Liz, his best friend, she was going through hell. It may have a nice hell from time to time but he knew that well. She was suffering. He just hoped that this last night on Earth was happy for her. Because she needed it. If she had called, he would go running to help out but he didn’t want to offer it himself. He didn’t want her to think he felt sorry for her.

Suddenly, a knock was at the window pane behind him. He turned around and she stood there. Not Liz, but Isabel. He put down his guitar and opened the window. He reached his hand to her and she took it, climbing inside. As she got inside, he closed the window behind her. She walked to him and kissed him. Then they sat by the window again, each to their own side. At first, nobody said anything. It was how their relationship worked. He could see she was trying to say something but didn’t know how. Finally, she looked at him and he smiled at her.

“You know what happens tomorrow, Alex?” – he nodded. He knew alright. His best friend was leaving him and nobody could tell him for how long. And if she was ever coming back.

“Yea, I do.” – he answered, right after the nod. –“Alex, I’m scared. We don’t know what’s up there. And now, she’s going there, alone. I just . . . I can’t help wondering if it’s wrong.”- she finally said what was on her mind. –“What do you mean?”- he said as he sat up straight, looking at her.

“We don’t know who or what is up there. All we know that Khivar is there, ruling, being a dictator. We heard so much about him and nothing was good. Only some memories that Val and Liz have. Who knows if any of it is true? Maybe someone stick into her! Made her believe stuff that aren’t true. I’m scared.” – she finally broke into tears. Alex rushed to her and hugged her.

Neither of three couples knew that the two cried at the same time. It was weird and it was so strong. Liz fell asleep in Max’s arms after that. He stayed awake for a bit longer, thinking about her words and what was he was promising to do. After that he fell asleep with her in his arms.

Zan had fallen asleep as well but Val got up after that and made sure they had all they needed, including the note with the words. After that she returned to bed and lay next to Zan. Liz had told her where she was going so she knew she wouldn’t be coming back, not tonight.

After Isabel cried herself out to Alex, she fell asleep by the window. He watched her sleep for a bit and then he fell, despite his efforts of staying awake, asleep too.

Maria slept in her bed with rapid thoughts. She dreamt about loosing Liz. She didn’t how but she felt it. She would loose Liz. Michael sat in his apartment and watched a really late football match. He refused to sleep. He wanted to sleep the whole meeting so Liz and Val wouldn’t be able to leave. But sleep eventually took him about and he crashed on his couch, with his TV on.

Chapter 24

It was a new day. Max had opened his eyes as the sun hit him right in them. He was alone and the curtain was moved aside. He looked around the room, all her stuff were gone. He sat up in his bed, showing his bare chest to no one in the room. He rubbed his eyes for a second as he tried to process the night before and all that happened between him and Liz.

After that he got up and got dressed. Isabel opened her eyes as she felt the warm window next to her. When she looked around the room she was in, memories kicked in; she was in Alex’s room. She remembered talking to him and then falling asleep. He wasn’t here now.

Actually, she was wrong. Five minutes later, he walked in the room carrying a tray with pancakes. He put them in front of her. She smiled to him. –“Morning, Isabel. You’re breakfast is served!”- he said with a very official voice and then they both fell into laughter.

Zan and Val opened their eyes at the same time and found Liz walking around the room. When she noticed they were awake she just smiled at them and continued with what she was doing. Without a word spoken, Zan got to the bathroom for a shower.
When the two were left alone, Val got off the bed and walked to Liz. She took her hand, which made Liz to stop. –“Morning, you. So what are you looking for?”- she asked her with a soft smile. It felt strange sometime. It was like she was looking at herself, but she knew it wasn’t herself.

“There was an old dress I had. In a big box under the bed, Val. I can’t find it now.” – she told her and Val let go of her hand. Liz watched her go to the drawers and opened the last one. She pulled the box out of it. The box was big and white. She put it on the bed and Liz opened it, pulling it out.

It was a beautiful light red dress, incredibly long. Maybe even longer then the purple dress from their memories with a V open and long sleeves. Val looked at the dress and then Liz. She wasn’t sure what it was for.

“We can’t go looking like this. I think this will look good on her.” – she told her with a smile. She folded it and placed it into the box and moment after that, Zan walked out. Val went in after that.

Michael opened his eyes, his TV was still on. It was some cooking show. Still sleepy, he leaned forward and searched for his remote control. He was sitting on it. He took it and turned off the TV and went to his bedroom for a wash and a change of clothes.

The alarm clock started beeping. It read 8:29. Maria opened her eyes and pushed the button on the top of it. She closed her eyes again, wanting to sleep but then she remembered that this was a too big of a day to let it go so easily. She got up and walked out of her room and to the bathroom, beating her mother to it. She opened the water in the shower and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked like hell. She got into the shower.

After getting dressed, Max walked out his bedroom and knocked on his sister’s doors. He heard no response so he pushed the doors open. Isabel wasn’t in the room and her bed was made. She didn’t sleep at home at all. He walked downstairs and found his parents having breakfast. –“Oh, Max, good morning.”- his mom greeted him with a smile and then kissed his check.

“Morning. Did you guys see Isabel?” – he asked them. His father nodded. –“Yea, she called this morning. She fell asleep at Alex’s.”- his father informed him. Max was confused how neither took interest in those words.

“Mom . . .” – he started looking at his mother who only motioned with his hand to stop. –“Max, your sister is a big girl. And we trust Alex.”- she told him and sat next to his father. –“You want some breakfast?”- he shook his head.

There was a knock on the door. –“I’ll get it.”- he said and walked to the front doors. Michael. –“Hey, Michael.”- he said.

”Isabel is going to get a lift with Maria and Alex.” – his friend told him and walked into the house. Max stood there for a second and then closed his doors. –“Michael! Come have some breakfast!”- he heard his mother say.

“Sure, Mrs. Evans.” – he heard his best friend say. He walked to the kitchen. –“Michael, we have to go!”- he told him. Michael was in the middle of putting the food in his mouth. He froze for a second and then took a bite anyway. –“They’re great, Mrs. Evans. I’d love to say. But the man’s calling.”- he told her.

He turned to leave but he got back and took another bite before following Max. –“Bye, mom. Bye, dad.”- the Evans’s could hear their son say from the doors. Then there was a sound of the doors closing and the car starting. They carried on with their breakfast.

When the two arrived to desert, there were already people there. Maria, Alex, Kyle, the Sheriff, Tess and his sister were already there waiting for him and Michael. –“Are they here already?”- his first question came. Jim shook his head but his head then turned to a car that was coming to them.

Val and Liz got out of the car at the same time. Liz returned her hands into the back seat and took a white box with her, while Zan took a paper bag with him as he got out of the car. The three walked to the group.

As they got to them, Liz gave the white box to Zan, who put both of the things down. She then looked at all of them. She would miss them a great deal. She released a sigh and then hugged Maria. Alex joined on the hug.

They stood there for a bit and Liz started crying. –“I’m gona miss both of you. A whole lot. You know that?”- the two nodded. –“Bring us a souvenir!”- Maria said with a giggle. –“Yea, and something new and strange!”- Alex added to that. She nodded and moved to the rest of the group.

She and Tess looked at each other for a bit and she wanted to say something but Kyle hugged her. She hugged him back. –“I’m really sorry about the other night.”- she shook her head. –“Kyle, it’s alright.”- he told him and hugged him again. She looked at his father who hugged her too. She didn’t see it coming but she didn’t mind it.

Jim Valenti was a regular pain in the ass when this club of theirs formed. He was trying to get information out of her and make Max look like a monster in her eyes but he didn’t get it done. In stead, she got him to join their group. He was their father, a father that knew the truth.

She smiled at him as he moved away and looked at Tess. –“Good luck up there, I have a feeling you’ll be needing it.”- she nodded and reached her hand to her. Tess took it. –“And you be a good friend and take care of my family here.”- Tess nodded to that.

As their hands released, she turned to Michael and hugged him. He rapped his arms around her. –“You’re coming back, right? Liz? I just got a great friend, and I can’t loose you.”- he pushed with his questions. She nodded with a smile. –“Of course. Who are you gona help out when things don’t work good? Or ask advice?”- she winked before he could defend himself from that. She was kidding. Or maybe even hinting that she would love to help him when ever he needed it.

<center>He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn’t play for the money he wins
He doesn’t play for the respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart

He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart
That’s not the shape, the shape of my heart

Liz moved to Isabel and they hugged. –“I’m sorry for being a bitch at times.”- she told her. Liz shook her head to that. –“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Isabel. You’re a great sister and Max will always be glad to have you.”- she paused for a second as she smiled, making a choice to tell her the truth.

”Don’t ever think you betrayed Zan. Ever. Because it was me that pushed you to Khivar, I saw your sadness because of your marriage and I pushed you there. All you did was love. You didn’t know he would kill him. You’re not to blame. And don’t let anyone tell you different, Isabel.” – she said and kissed her forehead.

<center> And if I told you that I loved you
You’d maybe think there’s something wrong
I’m not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
Those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who smile are lost

I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart
That’s not the shape of my heart

Then she moved to Max and smiled at him. He put his hands around her waist and she put hers around his neck. They stood there in silence for a bit. -“You’ll see me again. I’m gona come back. I’m gona love you for the rest of my life. And you’re gona know that.”- she kissed his checks and then he pulled her closer, her checks were burning. He kissed her.

At first, it was just a kiss. Then she opened her mouth and her tongue rushed in, feeling hers. She was his and she always would be. The flashes hit his head. Beautiful. The first time they met, the time he healed her, her wedding dance, and their first time together. His lips moved from hers and their foreheads stood together. –“You should get going. Good luck”- he sad, giving her a kiss again.

She pulled back and looked at everyone, drying her tears. –“I need the royal four in side. You too, Zan. The rest of you, you can’t go inside. I’ll miss you. And think of you each moment.”- Maria fell to her arms again. They hugged one more time and then she fell to Alex’s arms sobbing. Liz had to leave her.

She walked up to the pod chamber. Max, Isabel and Michael followed together; Tess after them and Val and Zan finally, holding hands. Max walked closer to Liz and placed his hand over the finger print. He wanted to be her night in shining armor, just a bit long.

She walked inside and everyone after her. Zan walked in front and handed her the bag. She pointed to the floor and he put the white box there. She opened the bag and took out candles. She put the two red candles appositive from each other, and the four white ones around them, like in a circle.

She moved back for a second to be sure that she right and she put her hands into her pocket. She felt something in her hand. She took it out and the necklace’s stood in her hand. –“Val, come here.”- she called out to her.

Val came and Liz gave her one. Zan helped Val put it on. Michael helped Liz put it on. Val didn’t understand at first. Half of circle for each, but she said nothing now. Liz turned to the four. –“I need you guys to stand where the white candles are. Take them in your hands.”- they nodded and each took their hand.

Liz put her hand in front of them and they all lit in the same time. Max didn’t know how great her power was. She and Val walked into the circle holding hands. They let go and took the candles in their hands, the red ones. Both blew in their own candle, which then lit.

They kneeled and looked at the four around then. They felt their eyes on them. She then turned to Val and nodded.

“The stars of our world command peace. The stars of our world demand justice.” – Val started. She then stopped. –“My mother has told to make things right. My plan worked and now, I am ready to go home. Stars of our world, my essence is no longer at peace.”- Liz had her verse.

Neither of the four around them moved. They kept looking at them. Zan stood behind, waiting and hoping they would do well. –“Let my spirit cross over. I have rested long without my own peace. Let me cross and let me take my life back. I will return peace. I will return justice. For I am Kivana Eli.”- Val said her verse.

“Kivana Eli I was and Kivana Eli, I shall be. I am the heiress of the great Laqua, the greatest Goddess of our world. I seek only peace. I seek only justice. Let me cross over and may my will be done.” – Liz finished.

“Kivana Eli I am, and Kivana Eli I will be.” – finally Val and Liz said together. The pod chamber started glowing. Zan looked at the source. The doors opened, there it was, the granilith. The most important thing of their world. And now, it was opening on their command.

The light was purple, red and white. Suddenly, his eyes turned to Val and Liz. They were glowing. Stronger and stronger until finally the candles fell to the ground. But they did not lit out, they fell down perfectly, as if they were placed. A mist formed around that position. Max wanted to move. –“Max, no!”- he heard Zan warning him so he did.

Suddenly, there she* stood. She was incredible, just like in her vision, or maybe even much prettier in reality. She appearing kneeling, which was the way she died. She opened eyes, they were with tears.

She stood up and looked around, the royal four around her. And another like the king behind them. She was silent for a while, looking where she was. She was aware of so many things but now, she was real again.

And then her head started hurting. The pain was unstoppable. She grabbed her head and kneeled again, screaming. Zan rushed to the circle and held her. He couldn’t help her.

Memories rushed through her head. Both Val’s and Liz’s. Val’s most important in her life, including meeting Zan and becoming pregnant, and killing John. Then she shifted to Liz’s. The first time she saw Max as a boy, the firs time they spoke, the day he healed her, the day she told her friend about him, they day they first kissed, their flashes, Future Max, their first time together.

And then she just stopped creaming. She looked at Zan and Max behind him, her eyes were blurry. –“I remember.”- she whispered and hugged Zan. –“I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you.” – she told him and kissed him.

Then she moved to Max and hugged him. Michael, Tess and Isabel exchanged looks but said nothing. They kept holding the candles.

As soon as she kissed him, Max’s head got overwhelmed by memories. The real ones, the ones from when he was Zan. Their moments together, their kisses, everything. Even the night he died. He moved from her and looked at his sister and best friend. –“It worked.”- he just said.

It was then that she fully became aware of them in the room. She raised her hand to them and their candles lit out, as well as Max’s behind her. Everyone put the candles on the ground.

She rushed to Isabel and hugged her. –“I’m so sorry, Vel. About everything. I didn’t mean to push to him. I didn’t know. He was given too much at one time. He really did love you. I promise to make it right, Vel.”- she said, holding her. Isabel rapped her hands around her, not really sure why.

She felt her taking her hand, and when she looked at her, she got hit by several memories of growing up. Then she looked at everyone. –“I saw that. You were my best friend, Vance.”- she surprised herself using that name but it was Kivana Eli’s nickname.

She wanted to keep her longer and talk to her but she had to leave. Kivana Eli looked around the pod chamber and noticed a white box. She smiled and looked at Zan. –“Is that for me?”- she asked him. He shrugged her. She stretched her hand and it flew to her. She put it on the floor and she kneeled next to it. She opened it.

“It’s incredible.” – she said, putting it out. –“Good thinking, Liz.”- she said and started undressing herself. Then she stopped and looked at the three guys in the room. The three got the message and turned around. She started talking over her clothes. Once she did, she started putting the dress on.

“You can look now, boys.” – she told them. They turned and saw her. She was beautiful. She touched her hand, it was curled to its ends so she waved her hand to it. It curled completely. She looked at Isabel who smiled with a nod.

“We have to go, Zan.” – she said, looking at Zan. He nodded and looked at Max and then Michael. –“I’ll care of her. I’ll take care of both of them.”- the two nodded. He walked over to Isabel and hugged her. –“I’ll never see my sister again so like I’m saying good bye to her.”- she nodded with a smile.

Kivana Eli stretched her hands and pointed her palms to the air and closed her eyes. Seconds later, a beautiful big diamond appeared in her palms. –“What’s that?”- Max asked her.

She looked at him. –“The key.”- she said and stepped in the granilith chamber. –“Go now, all of you.”- she told the four. They started waking but Max stood there watching. She knew they wouldn’t go alone.

Isabel, she thought. She saw her friend stop and turn. he won’t go on his own. He’ll need a push when we leave, she thought again. Isabel nodded, hearing her.

She smiled and kneeled, putting the diamond inside. Then she took Zan’s hand and looked at the granilith, it had much beautiful light now. She reached to it, Zan, as well as Max and Isabel could see her hand shaking.

She finally touched it and she and Zan disappeared. Max and Isabel could see them inside the granilith. They could see Kivana Eli smiling and waving at them. Isabel found that as a sign so she took Max’s hand and they both ran out.

When they came out, Michael was hugging Maria who was crying heavily. Isabel walked to Alex who hugged her. Max felt like he was alone but Tess put her hand on his shoulder and they hugged. Something came from the pod chamber and everyone turned to face that. Just in the time see a space ship leaving them, with flames on its back and white light from the atmosphere.

They stood there watching until it was finally out of sight. Then Tess and he walked to the group. Most of them kept looking up. –“So what do we do now, Maxwell?”- Max heard him ask.

“I don’t know. We try leave on like nothing happen and have faith that she will come back.” – he said and looked at Maria. She was the only actually taking it right. They had no idea if she would ever come back or if she would even survive up there.

Chapter 25/Part 1

It a bright day in Roswell; two days after Zan and Kivana Eli had left Earth. Max sat in his booth and ate his Will Smith burger and drank his cherry coke. His mind was rushed with worries about what could be happening to Liz.

Jeff and Nancy Parker suddenly came from the backdoor and walked to the register talking quietly. Maria passed Max’s booth. –“Maria?”- he called her name and she turned to him. She was still a bit shaken up with everything. –“Yea?”- she asked him.

“Um, are the Parkers worried about Liz? Did she say something to them?” – he asked her, looking at Liz’s parents. Maria followed his look and shook her head. –“Actually no. I asked Mr. Parker and he got surprised that Liz didn’t tell me. She apparently went to visit some uncle in L.A. that I didn’t even know of.”- she informed him.

“Won’t they call to check?” – he asked her. Maria shook her head again. –“Nope. And what I heard he’s a pretty loose guy. I found his number in Liz’s room yesterday with a note saying ‘he’ll back me up. No worries.’ Yea, weird I know.”- she told him.

Michael hit the bell. –“Order up!”- he said and returned his head back in and carried on with his work. –“Number? Did you try calling him?”- Maria shook her head. –“I have to go, Max.” – she told him. He nodded his head and she walked to Michael and took the order.

Max returned to his own thoughts; taking another bite of his burger Liz was in Los Angeles, was the official story, with some uncle that not even Maria knew of. He was a bit worried. He returned his gaze to the Parkers. They were laughing now. He watched them hug and kiss and then they walked in the back. Nancy Parker was still giggling.

He wondered how happy they were and if he would ever be that happy with Liz; especially after what she told him the night before she left, about changing their future.

Later that day, in the afternoon, Max came to the Valenti house to talk to Tess. She took him to her bedroom and sat on the bed as he leaned on the wall next to the closed doors. –“So, what did you want to talk about, Max?”- Tess started.

He watched her for a second. She was not Liz but she was beautiful in her way. She had beautiful blond curled hair and her eyes wee somewhere between blue and green and yet so right. He walked over to her and sat on the floor next to her legs. She watched him do it. -“I was thinking. About our destiny. And how we’re maybe going towards it.” – he said first. She said nothing, not really wanting to jinx anything.

He looked up at her and her shut mouth. He didn’t expect that from her. –“If you’re thinking of backing out, I’ll understand, Tess.”- he quickly said.

She motioned both of her hands in a no. –“No, of course not. I just, never expected you to even talk about it. So open.” – she confessed and moved to the floor. They found each other face to face.

“Why? You want to?” – he nodded. –“I think we should give it a try. See how it goes. We don’t have to rush anything.”- he told her and smiled. She smiled to.

There was a bit of a tension between for a moment and then he leaned to her and kissed her. As he was open to her, this kiss was different. It was sweeter. He could see her memories. That day at the lake, when he saw her, when she saw him and he blushed and how he ran away and she didn’t understand why.

He pulled back looking at her. –“What is it, Max?”- she asked him. –“I know why I felt that day. At the lake. Isabel told her.”- he told her.

“You don’t have to tell me.” – she told him with a soft smile. –“You can have your own little secrets, Max.”- she smiled even wider with that.

“I promise I won’t run this time.” – he told her. He put his hand to her chin and they kissed again. More memories came to him. It was little but right now, it was a lot. He had a hard time convincing him that he was doing right and keeping his promise. When they stopped he looked at her eyes for a second.

“So, we official now?” – she nodded like a little child around candy and smiled.

The next day was as beautiful as the last one. Max was turning another page. While part of him wanted to stick his nose into his past and wait for Liz, he had made a promise and he was living that. He stopped his car in front of school and got out. He saw Liz and Michael waiting for him at the doors.

He turned around for some reason and found Kyle and Tess walking his way. Kyle saw Max so he turned to another path while Tess walked over to him. As she came to her, he reached his hand and she took it.

It too him only a second while the next, he was already pulling her to him and giving her a kiss. Isabel and Michael saw that and then looked at each other. After everything that had happened the last few weeks they were cheering more for Liz then for Tess. They turned and walked to school.

As the pulled away, Max took her hand and they walked into school. Later that day, around 3, when school finished, Max couldn’t find Tess since she didn’t have her last period.

She took a walk home and on her way, she felt a very weird feeling. When she looked around her, she thought she was seeing people in suits. People in suits that were talking to themselves. She got worried. All she could think about was FBI and the Special Unit. She was worried now. Nasedo was working as Pierce but still, she had a bad feeling about everything.

Her cell phone rang. She jumped a little and then took it. As soon as she put it to her ear, she heard a familiar voice. –“Where are you, Tess? I thought we were going home together?”- Max’s voice came from the other side. He didn’t sound mad, just worried. And by the look of things, he should have been.

“Yea, Max. Sorry. I didn’t have the last period so I decided to walk home. I’m by the UFO museum now if you want to join? Please!” – at first it sounded like she was asking but she really wanted him to come for her. She surprised herself at times. She was a bit bad queen with a power to knock one’s brain out and now, she was asking for Max’s presence to feel safer.

“Sure.” – Max said and heard her hang up. He was about to get into his jeep when he saw Isabel and Michael headed his way. –“What’s up?”- he asked them first.

“What’s going on with you and Tess? Is it serious?” – Isabel shot her question first. –“Yea. It is. We’re trying to figure out this whole destiny thing and give it a shot.”- Isabel rolled her eyes.

”Maxwell, get serious. We already said we would be getting into it. What about Liz?” – Michael cut it.

“What about Liz, Michael? I had to promise to move on and to try with Tess.” – he explained to them. And he felt a question coming on so he answered it sooner. - “The night before she left.”

“Fine.” – Isabel pointed out and walked the other way. Michael stood there. –“I have to go pick her up by the museum. You want a ride?”- Max asked his best friend. He watched him shake his head and walk to Isabel. –“Isabel, wait up.”- he heard him say.

Max go into his jeep and drove away. He found her by the museum just like she said. As soon as he stopped, she got it. –“Go.” – she ordered and he didn’t even ask her way.

As they stopped by the Valenti house, Max turned of the engine and looked at her. –“What’s going on, Tess?” – he asked her, his upper body turned to her.

“I got a bad feeling. Maybe I was seeing things or something but I saw . . . maybe Agents?” – she said, it almost sounded like guessing. She was not going to show anyone, not even Max how worried she was.

She leaned to him and rested her head on his shoulder. Max tried to say something but he decided not to. This part of Tess was a little bit different from the everyday Tess.

As the sun later fell down, Max called Isabel to meet him in Michael’s place. He didn’t want to affect anyone about this and Tess took a midday nap.

“So what are you saying?” – Isabel asked him after he told her what Tess told him. He shrugged to her question. –“I don’t know, Isabel. But if it’s true that we have a serious problem.” – he told her.

“But didn’t it all end with Whitaker?” – Michael asked another question. –“Liz told me that the night after Nasedo died, she found Whitaker drinking and destroying everything that has to do with Pierce or the aliens.”

“But that was just an act. We know she killed him!” – Isabel’s voice reached a higher note. She wanted to overcome Michael’s voice right now. She hated Whitaker and all that happened because of Whitaker told her about who she was, how it brought down a chain of events that she was unable to stop.

“So what do we do?” – Michael asked Max. Isabel turned her head to her brother, asking for some sort of guidance they had been through so much and yet FBI was something they couldn’t get rid off, not since they were children. It’s the fear they grew up with. And children fear never goes away. The three were the proof of that.

“There are more protectors. If we can find them somehow, we could . . . we could learn more about our powers and how to protect ourselves.”

”So where do we look, Maxwell? Where do you look for Shape shifters?” – Michael asked a question that he really wasn’t sure he wanted an answer to.

There was knock on the doors before Max answered. Michael walked to the doors and Alex and Maria walked in. –“What is this about a meeting that we’re invited to?”- Maria asked as soon as she was inside.

“We didn’t want you to get involved in this, Maria. It’s the FBI. How did you find out?” – Max asked her.

“Kyle. Tess told him and he called us but he didn’t want to come. We promised details.” – she confessed and sat on the couch next to Isabel. –“So, Special Unit, ha? Kyle said that Tess may have seen them in town.”- she started talking and talking.

“We were thinking that we should go try to find the other shape shifter. We know there were four. And we know that the other four’s is alive. We should be able to find him.” – Max got the brief story of the meeting so far. –“We could go . . . to New York. Find Rath or Lonnie and get it out of them.”- he suggested, not sure in it himself.

Isabel and Michael shook their heads at the same time. –“No way.”- they said at the same time. He looked down as he heard them. He realized that there was a risk. And there was not Liz to tell them what next. It seemed that she was the one telling them what to do the last few weeks, she and Val.
Alex, who was silent all this time, suddenly raised his hand. The three turned their heads to him. –“I may have an idea.”

Tess closed her eyes and opened them again. She really didn’t feel like sleeping. She heard someone breathing and she opened her eyes. Kyle stood at the doors. –“What?”- she asked him.

“Nothing. Can’t sleep, ha? Maybe the daylight bugging you?” – he made a bit of a sarcastic comment. She rolled her eyes and sat up, leaning on the wall. –“I’m just worried, Kyle. We’ve been good so far but FBI is pretty big. They suck you all in. They wouldn’t care if you’re not one of us. You’re apart of us. And well, what Isabel told me about Ava and what she said about Liz being changed. It could affect you to, Kyle. You could get someone someday.”- she told him.

He walked to the bed and sat at it’s end silently. –“Yea, been thinking about that too. But I decided I can’t worry about that. A life is out there. My dad is out work and well, I need a job and finish and High School. I can’t worry about. But I can’t not worry about you.”- she smiled to his words.

“Thank you.” – she stretched her hand to him and he took it. They sat there in silence for a moment. Kyle was a great friend. He clearly had a bit of a crush on her but he wasn’t trying to get in her pants, not all the time. She smiled one more time.

“Alright. Lunch break over. Got to go.”- he nodded to her, let go of her hand and walked out of the room. She heard the doors close a minute later.

Isabel, Michael, Maria and Max stared at Alex. He said nothing after his idea. They waited. Mostly, waited. –“Well?”- Michael blurted out. He was never the patient type.

“I read a story or two about something weird happening in Phoenix. Yesterday, actually. A deal animal appeared with a silver finger print.” – he said, looking at Isabel and then at Max.

“That’s it?” – Michael’s tone was not very nice. Max gave him and before returning his gaze to Alex. –“Yea, it’s not a lot but that’s all we have. We’ll need to go check it out.”-

Maria stood up. –“So, when do we leave?”- she sounded all enthusiastic about it. She needed something to get her mind of Liz. –“We leave, Maria. You can’t go. That means the four. We can’t risk you. It could be dangerous.” – Max cut her off before she could go on.

“What? Come on! Everything in the “I know an alien” club is dangerous. We’re used to it.” – she protested. –“No. You’re not going and it’s final. I can’t worry about all of you there.”- he put his foot down with his voice.

“Fine, whatever.” – she finally said and walked to the doors. –“Coming, Alex? We’re clearly not wanted here.”- she pointed out, sarcasm in her voice.

“Maria . . . ” – Isabel tried to say something. Maria motioned with her hand to stop. –“No problem, girl. I understand. I hate for it but I understand.”- she told them and she and Alex left.

Michael and Isabel looked at Max. Max didn’t have Liz but Maria and Alex were with Michael and Isabel, one way or the other. And that was rude. Even for Michael Guerin. –“We leave tomorrow early.” – he informed them, ignoring their looks. –“I’m gona go check on Tess and tell her.”-

Before they could say anything more he was gone and they could hear his car driving away.

The next day, as the sun barely got up, Max drove his jeep out of town. Tess and Isabel sat in the back and Michael in the front. –“Maxwell, I still one of us should have stayed. It’s not right leaving them here alone.”- Michael complained.

“Michael, I called Valenti this morning and told him. He’s going to check up on them.” – but Michael turned his head the other way before he would say anything that he would regret. And he would.

A few hours later, Alex ate his breakfast at the counter. There wasn’t any rush so Maria sat next to him. Michael couldn’t come work today so Maria begged Kyle to step in. Kyle hated for it. But he did it anyway because he didn’t want to get trouble on Guerin.

“Come on, Maria. Your lunch break, we’ll go check the museum!” – Alex insisted on it. Maria shook her head but she had a big smile on her face. Both were worried but they tried to pretend that everything was alright, specially if FBI was really checking them all out. –“No. What so big about that place? We’ve seen it a million times!”- she answered him.

“Come on! I’ll be fun. We can laugh at the little green.” – she gigged to that comment. –“Good point. I’m in!”- she answered and got back to gigging.

And then it came. It was about 11.30 and Kyle decided to stick in and eat the lunch he made for himself. Alex and Maria walked out and as soon as they came out, they got a really bad feeling. –“Alex?”- Maria called her friend’s name.

It felt like there was no one on the street but they felt like they were being watched. –“I know.”- he answered her and they slowly walked to the road where Maria’s Jetta was parked. They would cross the street but Maria suddenly froze.

“What is it?” – Alex turned his attention to her and she nodded her head behind him. He looked that way and there he stood. He wore a black suit and black sunglasses; he seamed to be talking into his hand.

“Maria, in the car, now.” – her friend pointed out. Maria hopped into the driver’s seat. She didn’t understand in that moment why they didn’t go into the Crashdown but thinking about it made his intention clear. There were people inside, even Kyle inside. He didn’t want to make the FBI go inside and get them in danger.

She started the car as Alex too her cell phone and dialed a number. Maria didn’t turn her attention to who he was calling. –“Sheriff, its Alex. I think the FBI is town. After us. Right outside of Crashdown, driving away. Kyle’s inside the diner, sir.”- he finally admitted before hanging up.

The sheriff was in his home, as usual, trying to get some job when his phone rang. It was right next to him so he picked it up, right after the first right. –“Jim Valenti.”- he answered right away.

“Alex, yea? What’s wrong?” – he heard Alex on the other line. –“FBI? Where are you? Why? Kyle? I’m on my way, Alex!”- he said and hung up.

Right away, he walked to his study and took out his gun out of the gun closet and rushed out of his house.

“What did he say?” – Maria asked Alex as he hung up. –“He’s coming!”- he said and suddenly they heard gun shuts and heard them. One hit the back window of Maria’s car. She panicked and speeded up.

“God, they’re shooting at us!” – she screamed. –“Everything is going to be alright, Maria. Just drive!”- Alex pointed out. But she could hear he was scared. Shoots carried on.

She saw Valenti’s car from the appositive direction and stop behind them and started shooting at them. –“Good, he’s heard. We’re alright, Alex!”- she cheered. –“Alex?”- she heard no response as she turned and saw him.

His head was down and it had a blood all over. He was shot. She creamed incredible loud as he hands rushed to him. She forgot that she was driving and as soon as she did, the wheel turned to the right and she felt the car turned.

She didn’t know what was happening; she didn’t hear anything else, not until all went black for a moment. Last she remembered what Alex’s dead body next to her and her screams.

Chapter 25/ Part 2

Agents were in Roswell and they picked this day to attack. Nobody understood why but without the royal four, they were unprotected. And Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess were on their way to Phoenix in hope to find a shape shifter, one of their protectors. They were in need of some real guidance and protection and they hopped they could find it there.

It the middle of the road, Isabel felt a weird chill on her spine. When her eyes met Max’s in the mirror, she knew that he felt it too. He saw her look. –“Call Valenti.”- he ordered her but it sounded more like an advise. They were worried.

She took her cell and dialed the number. There was no answer. She looked back at Max as she moved her cell from her ear. –“No answer.”- she informed him. –“Max, I’m not sure about this.”-

”We can’t just head back now.” – Tess protested. Isabel tried calling again. She heard a voice on the other side. It was Valenti.

“Jim . . . its Isabel. What’s going on in Roswell? – she asked him up straight. Max watched her face in the mirror as it filled with tears. He quickly pulled off the road before he lost control. As soon as he stopped, he turned his upper body to his side, facing her.

“Are you sure? And . . . Maria?” – the three heard Isabel sobbing. –“Oh, God!”- she cried out. –“We’re turning back! What? They’re gone? Oh, God!”- she cried over and over again and finally, she put her hand down, without hanging up.

Max, Michael and Tess could hear the dial tone on it. Tess took the phone from her and hung up. Max reached his hand and took Isabel’s. –“Isabel, what’s going on?”- he asked right way.

“The agents, they attacked. Alex and Maria were outside. They took the car not wanting to draw attention to the Crashdown or Kyle. Shots went flying and Maria lost control of the car . . .” – she stopped before she could say it. She refused to hear herself say it because then . . . it would be true.

An hour later, the Jetta let out smokes from front as Jim ran to them. The agents pretty much ran the other way as this seamed like too much attention. Valenti wondered if they were even agents when they acted like that.

When he came to the car, he could see Alex and Maria leaned forward. He took his cell and dialed 911. –“This is Jim Valenti. I need an ambulance at the beginning of the park. Now!”- he shouted before hanging up.

With all his attention turned to Maria and Alex, he didn’t even notice Kyle coming to him. –“Dad!”- he shouted. Jim looked at him and nodded to Alex’s side. Kyle nodded and went for that side. It was not easy. The doors opened up right away but Alex stood in a bit of unnatural position. He slowly started pulling him out of the car when finally, he fell to the ground and Alex was over him.

He pushed him of him and kneeled up to him. It was then that he saw the bullet. –“Dad?”- he called out to his father, Jim could heard fear and sadness in his son’s voice. But he was too busy getting Maria out. He checked for her pulse and once he heard it, he started pulling out. He barely did. Her legs were stuck for a while but luckily for her, Jim was once a Sheriff and with that he knew a few tricks.

“Kyle, get Alex and go as far as you can!” – Kyle could hear his father. He didn’t know how to tell him. He put his hands over Alex’s chest and started pulling him out of the park, and into the road, where his father stood, holding Maria over his back.

They could hear the sirens and Jim turned to that side. Kyle followed his lead when they head an explosion in the back. Kyle looked back and saw the Jetta in the flames. He looked at his father. It was clear that Jim knew. It was why he gave him his last instructions.

“She still has a pulse but she’s unconscious and her feet were stuck for a while. I haven’t checked the boy yet.” – Jim informed the paramedics. –“He’s dead, dad.”- he heard his son say.

The ex-sheriff’s eyes filled with tears as he turned to face his son and then looked down. His son was right. The blood on Alex’s forehead was dry and there was an entry wound. The paramedics took Maria and Alex while Jim froze there, staring at where Alex was seconds ago. He stood there for a long time. He didn’t have a clue how long.

Kyle could see his father’s condition so he said nothing. He just put his hand over his father’s shoulder and squeezed it gently. It was a time for grief.

The two Valenties stood there forever, without a word. Finally, his father’s cell rang. It finally woke Jim up from his thoughts as he picked it up. –“Jim Valenti.”- he started as he always did. The person on the other line could think it was an average day but that was not the case. It was a terrible day.

He heard Isabel’s voice on the other side and he felt so bad right now, thinking he was the only one that should grief. He realized how many people he had to tell about this.

“Isabel, the agents hit today. Maria and Alex . . . they were out and they saw them. They didn’t . . . want to get back to Crashdown . . . not to draw attention to more people or . . . or Kyle.” – he heard himself say.

Those two that were in the Jetta were in this state protecting people and his son. He hated himself so much right now. –“Isabel, I’m sorry. Alex . . . is . . . gone.”- he barely got himself to say.

But he was glad that she took it easily, at least for now. It was on her to tell her brother and friends what happened. –“Maria . . . she’s alive now. Unconscious. On her way to the hospital.”- he said.

She didn’t ask him more. She told him that they were coming back. He felt it important to mention. –“The agents took of as soon as the car hit . . . they’re gone. I think it’s safe.”- he said. It was the last line in their conversation.

He hung up after that and looked at his son. –“I have to go tell the Whitman’s. And Amy DeLuca.”- he told his son and started walking up the sidewalk. Kyle caught up with him and put his hand over his shoulder. Jim just smiled at his son.

It was back to the four. They stood in silence after Isabel had told them finally everything. She could see tears in Max’s and Michael’s eyes. And in Tess’s too. But, she had a feeling that it was because Kyle was fine. She knew how Tess had grown closer to the Valenties. And it was good because Jim and Kyle would need her now.

Nobody said anything more as Max turned the car around and drove back into town. As much as he felt sadness for loosing a good friend, his thoughts were with Liz. He felt terrible for not being able to tell her. She had the right the now. Alex was her friend he was. And Maria, even before he knew her.

He felt a tight grip on his should and he looked at the mirror. The hand belonged to Tess. He let out a gentle smile to her, thanking her for being a hand in this. He looked at Alex and Isabel. Isabel was crying hopelessly and Michael was at the edge of it. He had never imagined it would effect them but he should have known how the six had grown close, even before Tess came.

They passed the Alien sign and drove into Roswell. A grief had taken over the souls, as well as the day. It was day that Alex Whitman had left them. It was day that Max would forever hold it against himself for not taking their friends with them.

It was the day that Michael and Isabel both wished that they hadn’t pushed the ones they loved so far. Alex was dead and they had no clue what was happening to Maria. Max watched the two held hands as Isabel sobbed all the way and Michael dried his eyes a few times.

It was the saddest day in lives of the Roswell Aliens.

Chapter 26

Life on Antar was different. It was nice. Ellie felt like she was finally home. This world was nothing like what the gang in Roswell had heard. There were stories of blood on streets but Ellie saw nothing of it. It seemed to be at some kind of peace during her visit. Both sides took a time off from their war on Khivar’s request because of his sister’s return.

She could see that Zan was having a good time. She had asked Khivar to give him absolute freedom around the town and the young King was given that. Ellie was glad to be home and to spend time with her brother, her real brother. It seamed like she had forgotten how he looked. And her brother was hot.

He was a tall man, she couldn’t deny that. He had a perfect build, which party reminded her of Max and when she saw his body that one night and what she thought of it. Khivar had light brown hair to his shoulders, a bit curled. His eyes were brown and his skin a bit lighter. He had a scar over his eyebrows and below his eyes.

But he was different then she remembered him. The war had changed him. He had grown. He wasn’t even the same man that she left when she killed herself. He had learned so much and she believed when he told her that he wanted to change. How could she not, he was her brother. He was her mother’s son, he was her own blood.

The son was coming down and the blue skies turned a bit darker. Ellie stood by an enormous window of her balcony and stared at the sun. All of a sudden, she felt terrible pain in her chest. She put her hand over her heart as she felt it beating faster.

A man walked into the room and she didn’t even saw him. But he saw her worried face and he rushed to her. –“Ellie, what’s wrong?”- she heard his voice as he put his hands around her and whispered to her ears. It was Zan.

“I just got this terrible feeling that something is wrong.” – she confessed right away. It was the truth. Something was happening but she couldn’t tell where it was or why she was feeling it. She leaned her head back on his shoulder and they stood there for a long while until her heart finally calmed down.

Being so close to her, Zan heard her heart so he refused to leave her. As he felt it calm down, he put his hand over her waist and with his other took hers and walked with her into her bedroom. She was in need of clear rest.

He walked her to the bed and sat her down. She quickly lay down and pulled her feet together. Zan took a cover next to her and put it over her. He sat next to her and watched her. He didn’t want to leave her when she was like this.

She stretched her hand to him and he took it. –“Don’t leave tonight.”- she whispered and he squeezed her hand. She knew it meant he wouldn’t. He would not leave her tonight. He lay down next to her, over the covers, still holding her hand. She could finally rest. She closed her eyes and fell the sleep.

The next morning when she opened her eyes, Zan was still sleeping beside her, he was trembling a bit. He had spent the night over the covers next to her. She couldn’t believe what he did for her. She let go of his hand and put her covers over him and got up for a bath.

As soon as she came to her bathroom, there were six women with long blond hair, her handmaidens. She didn’t know those even existed since it was a Ryctor thing. But the idea that Khivar found them for her, made her smile.

Her thoughts were interrupted as the girls rushed to her and started undressing her. One unzipped it in the back, the other pulled the sleeves and finally the dress fell to the ground. Then two other came and Ellie lifted her hands in the air as the pulled her under dress over her head. She was completely naked now as the last handmaiden took her hand and Ellie followed her into a huge bath.

She walked down the stairs and into the bathroom as a few of the gathered in the corner, she walked that way in the water, it felt so good to be inside it, with all the white roses swimming on the surface. As she came to the corner, she realized that she could sit there.

And as soon as she sat down, she felt the handmaiden’s hands all over her. One was on her left hand, the other on her right, two were in the water next to her, scrubbing her feet, another one was on her back and the last one was picking up her hair so it wouldn’t get any more wet.

Zan opened his eyes moments later and found Ellie’s covers over him. He sat up quickly worried where she had gone. He heard giggles behind big doors and he walked over to them.

The doors were open a bit so he looked inside. He could see all these women with long blond hairs scrubbing Ellie who was in the bath. She was telling them things and they giggled. He could only make a few words.

“. . . It’s not that difficult. At least on Earth . . .” – and all the girls giggled. –“. . . it’s nice and hot and well, if you like the guy, it can be nice . . .”- he listened as she spoke.

“And was he nice? This Max?” – suddenly he heard one of the girl’s ask and then Ellie giggled. –“I can’t complain. Zan did know what he was doing but Max had that innocence in him. As much as he took from me, I took from him.”- another giggle came from the room.

Zan turned to his side and leaned on the wall next to the doors. It was strange how jealous he could be of Max right now. He knew it was Liz that loved Max but he couldn’t stop thinking that it was Ellie talking and Ellie was Val too.

He wanted to listen more, he leaned on the doors again but this time he slightly pushed them forward. All the girls heard it and their eyes turned to the doors. Ellie knew who was in her room so she started walking out of the bath. Two of her handmaidens rushed to her and handed her a silk robe which she put on and the tighten the ribbons very gently.

She pushed the doors open. –“Zan?”- as she called out his name, looking through the room. He sat on the bed, with his hands on his knees and his head over his palms. He didn’t look at her. She closed the doors behind her not wanting to share their conversation with the girls. –“Zan, what’s wrong?”- she asked him as she slowly started walking on her toes as the water gently dripped from her wet body under her robe.

“I heard you.” – he said. He voice sounded sad but she didn’t think he was crying. –“Heard me what?”- she asked again. At first, she didn’t understand what he meant but then it hit her. He heard what she was telling the girls. –“What I said? About you and Max?”- he asked him to be sure.

He only looked at her for a second and returned his gaze to the floor. She rushed to him on her toes and as she came to him, she fell to her knees and looked at his face. –“That’s what you’re worried about? Don’t be. They just asked me.”- she told him.

”Innocence.” – he said and looked at her. She could see that he really did love her. Her hands went to his face in order to keep their eye contact. –“Don’t you ever think that I would pick Max over you. I love both because you are my Zan but you’re here with me, not him. He’s just boy, Zan. He still has to grow up. You’re the man I want.”- she told him. There were no lies there. She told him how she really felt. It was him that she loved.

He looked at her eyes as she spoke, he could feel her wet hands on his face and then she leaned to her, putting his hands on her hips as his lips touched hers and their tongues met. His tongue explored her mouth; it was a kiss he had never given her before. Her words inspired him to forget any troubled thoughts about her and Max. She was his.

He pulled her up but she was still on her knees as her hands moved to his chest. She slowly moved a way, as her tongue wet her lips as she watched his face. –“I want you to take now, Zan.”- she whispered with a smile on her face as she got up. He looked up at her. Her hands slowly went to the ribbon over her robe as she pulled it gently, her eyes to him as he watched her hands. The ribbon gently fell to the ground from her hands while the robe slipped from her front body, exposing her to him

She was beautiful. Her breasts weren’t big bit they matched each other perfectly. The nipples on her breasts gently pierced out, he had the urge to touché them. Her stomach formed into a little round circle directing his eyes to her pussy, it was simple, natural and yet to him, it seamed like he was looking at a Goddess before him. She took his hand and gently placed it over her stomach. He could feel the baby move. She took his hand higher and placed it over her left breast and he gently moved his hand in a circle with her hand over it.

He could hear a silent moan from her mouth as he did. He got on his feet as their bodies touched, her completely naked and still a bit wet while his completely dressed in yesterday clothes. He moved his face to her face and their lips met one more time as he moved down to her neck, gently sucking for a moment and then she could feel him butting her a little. That would clearly leave a kicky. She smiled at the thought of that. She didn’t mind showing the world how much they were deep.

His moved down to her breasts. With one hand his touched her left breast while his nibbled his tit on her other breast. Another moan left her mouth; it was a little louder this time. Her hands slipped to his shirt as she began unbuttoning it. One, two, three, four. How many did he have, she thought to herself. She finally took the shirt with both of her hands and did the rest of the buttons slowly. She didn’t want to rush. His lips moved to her other tit as her hands went to his shoulders. She loved his doing that already.

As he stopped nibbling her, he moved back to her lips but she quickly placed her hands over his naked chest and pushed him on the bed. He smiled looking back at her. She got on, next to him. His hands were on the bed, he didn’t touch her for a moment. He could feel her next to him, then a kiss on his lips. He could hear her unzipping his pants at the same time. He looked at her as she smiled and moved down, pulling his pants and his boxers of him. Despite their presence on Antar, Zan insisted on not wearing any Antar clothing. He preferred his own things. Right now, she was glad.

He watched her get of the bed and down to him. And then he felt a click in his brain that told him what she was doing. She was on her knees with his penis in her mouth. He felt her moved it up and down in her mouth. –“Oh, yea . . .”- he said as his eyes closed as he was being drugged. Ellie looked at him in the middle of it and got back to what she was doing, she continued blowing him.

Seconds later, she could hear his pulse ragging as he was ready to blow up. She stopped and moved back up and sat on it. She felt in her as he looked at her. He didn’t understand why she stopped for a second but he didn’t care. He felt her and her hands on his chest as he started moving back and forth. First it moved slowly but it gained on speed really fast until finally, she moved back and forth so fast that he could hardy stop her. He moved his hands on her hips and she moved even faster.

She screamed at that point. –“Right there. I’m there!!!!”- she screaming. So was he. –“God, that’s it.”- she could hear him but she was louder. He sat up, as he was still in her and they started again. And again. As she moved off him, he went on her back and they went again from her ass. She screamed. It felt like forever but Ellie didn’t want him to stop. Suddenly, he did. She could feel him leave her. He fell to the bed next to her and she rested her head on his hand. –“I had no idea what I was missing in my life.”- she whispered as he looked at her.

He had never experienced anything like it before. He had slept with Ava and he thought he’d seen everything of Alien sex but this was something else and it lasted a lot longer. When he turned to her, he saw the window on the balcony, the sun was raging. It was something Earth called noon. It meant they had spent almost 4 hours at it.

She watched his eyes for a minute with a smile. His gaze returned to her and gave her a kiss on her forehead. –“I love you, Zan.”- she whispered to his ear. He looked at her for a second without a word. –“I love both of.”- came out of his mouth. She smiled and rested her head in silence. He didn’t understand what he said. Or why he said it. Who did he love? Was it Liz and Val? Or was it Val and Ellie? She seemed to be pleased so he decided not to put his brain to it too much.

Then he remembered that in a hour, Ellie was supposed to address the people. He nudged her. She opened her eyes. –“Not again.”- she whispered with a smile. –“You have a conference, Ellie. Before the people.”- he whispered as she sat up, supporting herself with her hands. He was right. She leaned to him and kissed him and then got of bed.

She walked to her closet and opened it, she had no idea what she was to wear. –“You know, you better get dressed now because I’m calling my handmaidens to dress me.”- she said with a wink, looking at him. He got off the bed and took his boxers and put them on. Then he moved to the pants and put them on, zipping them.

“Girls?” – she shouted. The doors of the bathroom opened up and a bunch of girls rushed inside with giggles on their faces. They were in there the whole time; he thought to himself and put on his shirt.

He sat on the bed again, with his shirt unbuttoned as the girls gathered around Ellie. One of them whispered something to her ears. –“Don’t worry about him. He cane stay.”- she answered her with a smile.

The girls walked to the closet and found for her what to wear. It was a beautiful green dress. As any dress Ellie owned, it was incredibly long. But when he took a good look at it, it turned out that it was small. It reminded of any dress you could see a woman with a lot of money on the Wild West would wear it. It was a closed dress, even over her neck with long sleeves.

But first they slipped her into her under dress. One of them took out a corset. Zan couldn’t believe they had it here. –“Absolutely not, Mime!”- Ellie said straight away.

The girl looked sad as she put it back in. The others gathered all around Ellie and started putting on her dress. When they were done, they realized her hair was in a mess. She just winked to one of them, put her hand it and after a gentle glow, it formed into a beautiful hair-do. A long beautiful almost appearing silky plat went down her right shoulder.

She smiled and looked at Zan. She shook her head. That would not do. She walked to him and waved her hand. Suddenly he was wearing black pants and a dark blue shirt over it, with his longer hair to his shoulders, down nicely combed.

“Hey!” – he pointed out but she did a good work so he couldn’t complain. Instead, he kissed her lips for a second.

Their kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door. Zan watched as the handmaidens quickly walked into the bathroom and closed the doors behind them and as Ellie moved one step to his left, holding her head high and her face strict. It was then that Zan realized that he knew nothing of Antarian laws or manners. “Enter!” – Ellie voice came from his side.

The doors pushed open and a man came in. Margon. Ellie really hated him. He was once Zan’s third command and now, he was her brother’s left hand, since Nicholas was his left hand.

”Yes?” – another strict sound came from Ellie. –“Your highness, your conference before the people awaits. Your brother will waiting for you there.”- he informed her and nodded his head. Only a second later, he turned on his heal and left her room, closing the doors behind her.

Well, I’ll hand it to Khivar for finally cleaning his lady man behavior, Ellie thought to herself, remembering what kind a man he was in her past life. –“Shall we?”- she said with a sweet voice to Zan’s ear.

He reached out his hand to her and she slid her hand under it. Together, they walked to the doors. Right before them, Zan watched them open. He wasn’t sure if it was Ellie or the guards outside but he walked through the hallways as she led him to the main hall. It wasn’t the throne room but it had its own stage, a higher ground inside the palace where the royalty addressed the people.

Khivar stood at the doors. He wore leather pants, a shirt under his leather uniform-jacket. Ellie could see a bunch of medals and she wondered where he gotten it.

Her brother saw her with Zan. He didn’t like Zan and he never cared to hide it. He wanted to be the one to enter the room with his sister but she didn’t move from Zan. They walked passed him as he saw her smile. She smiled back at her and followed the two inside.

As soon as they were in the room, the crowd cheered like Ellie had never seen them do. After all, in the old life, she was a slave and if even she was on these kinds of places, she would stand out like this. She smiled to herself as a memory flash kicked in. She was 16 years old and Velandra had given her a beautiful pick dress for her to wear. As soon as she walked into the room with Ratos holding her hand, all eyes were on her. Ratos had whispered her that day that it was her night, as well as Velandra.

She looked at Zan as they walked up the steps and he smiled back at her, not knowing where her thoughts are. She stopped suddenly as Khivar passed them and stood before the people.

“I did make promise, my people. And I have made it come true. I have brought you my sister home. She is with us tonight. And what is unexpected but highly seen coming from her side . . . ” – he waved his hands to Zan and Ellie. –“. . . The old king Zan holds her hand. Isn’t she the real peace maker? Isn’t it what I promised you?”- the people cheered.

Khivar motioned for his sister to come to him. She let go of Zan and walked to her brother, taking his hand. She felt his grip and a wide smile appeared on her face. She wondered what her life would have been if Zan’s father never killed her parents. Would she be here today? Would she love Zan as much as she does?

“Thank you. Thank you for accepting like this. I was terrified how you greet me. And I pleased to say that it’s pretty good. As many of you know, I am Kivana Eli Xothorn, older daughter and heiress of the late queen Laqua. We seem to have come a long way. Sadly, not in the way I desired . . .” – she paused and looked at her brother as she felt a squeeze. He didn’t want her to talk like that.

She let go of his hand, remembering his words in the Crashdown before he left. She made her choice on what she wanted. –“I remember our lives on Antar before . . . but I also remember what my life was on Ryctor. I don’t deserve to be here and be treated like royalty. I didn’t even deserve to be royalty anymore . . . when I came Antar, Zan’s father had made a slave of his daughter. I grew Zan and because love I turned to jealousy and hate towards the woman he loved . . . ”

“Ellie!” – she heard Khivar whispering through his teeth. She didn’t care. –“All of this happened because of me. I killed Avarisa but I wanted at that. Never mind that it was my brother that killed Zan and Ratos, I still blame myself. Because I was the one that put so much information into him. And those who remember him then, will remember that was not a complete man. I pushed to far and hoped for the best. I deserve this world. Neither does Khivar. Zan is now king. Even my mother told me that.”- she looked at Zan for a moment and then her brother.

“But the things as they are. Before I came, I met Khivar and he told to try it out, to see if I feel at home. As much as it is beautiful, I don’t. I can’t feel home or safe knowing that there are people in war here, fighting for a meaningless cause. This war should end now. There shouldn’t any more fights on who will king. As to that, I promise that Antar become a democracy.” – the crowd started talking among themselves.

“I understand that is a new word. I’ve grow know it living on Earth. It’s a world where your future or your rights are not decided by a man or woman on a throne. There is one like that but only to be the voice his or her people. A democracy is where you have the freedom of speech and the right to be, to exist and to live in peace.” – she explained. She knew what she was giving up but she saw it only right.

An older man stepped before the crowd, Ellie recognized him. His name was Lykar and he was one of the advisers of the old king. –“May I speak?”- he asked a bit frighten. She had given them a new vision of a future and it almost scared them.

”Yes, you may, Lykar.” – she nodded. He was surprised that she knew his name. –“I have heard of this that you speak of. I find it wise. I believe that it the right time for it. We have been through so much and we already to grow.”- she smiled, happy that someone would accept her. Others wanted to join, she let them all speak.

Zan watched as Khivar pulled back his throne and shook his head. He could see that Khivar had no intention of doing as he had promised his sister.

As it was over, Ellie took Zan’s hand and they began walking down the stairs. –“Stop!”- she heard her brother’s voice and she turned to him. –“Leave us!”- his commanding voice said to Zan but Ellie held her lover’s hand. –“He’ll stay. He can hear what ever you have to say, little brother.”- she used ‘Little Brother’ on purpose, knowing what this would be about, pointing out that it was her choice, she was heiress and the leader they expected.

”Fine.” – Khivar said through his teeth. –“What was that about?”- he said. Kivana Eli didn’t fudge. –“Your own ideas, Khivar. When you put ideas in someone’s head, you must ready for the consequences.”- she explained, raising her eye brown for a second.

“But a democracy? I will be killed instantly. They all hate here!” – his voice raged. –“I thought you were my sister!”- he continued.

Ellie let go of Zan’s hand and walked to her brother urgently. Neither noticed that a lot of people were still there and many were returning. –“How dare you? Everything I’ve ever done in life expect that day was for you! EVERYTHING, KHIVAR”- he voice screamed through the room. He got her angry. Zan had a few memories from her past life, from the last moments of his life. He knew that she was furious that day.

“Everything? Did you give yourself to him for me?!?” – Khivar shouted in response. Ellie slapped him. –“I never gave myself to Zan in that. Never!!”- she shouted back.

“I don’t understand how you can’t regret the best day of my life?!?!” – his shout hit the room. –“Because, it was the day that died. It was the day that you killed the man I loved. And that meant loosing you. You turned into a monster. Even that thing in New York. You would have killed them on spot, no real there.”- she cried out.

The people around started whispered. –“I did everything for you. I knew you would come back. I couldn’t loose you. I didn’t want your heart be broken again but that man!”- he shouted pointing at Zan. Ellie’s gaze was on her brother as he eyes turned blurry with tears.

“I wouldn’t hurt me. Not this time. He knows his mistakes, Khivar, and he lives to make them right.” – she creamed. –“I wanted to save you. For us, for our mother. I’m not sure I can.”- she carried on crying as her body fell to the ground. –“I love you, Khivar. I loved you until the moment I took my last breath. I did all of this to save you and to make things right. You cannot die as a murder, with redemption; you will not join our parents in the stairs.”- she finally cried out the real reason.

He fell to the ground next to her and rapped his hands around her. –“I’m sorry. I had no idea. You wanted me to be with mother and father. You wanted protect me. You always have.”- Ellie could hear him crying too.

And they cried together. Zan didn’t move as he didn’t want to brake their connect. He missed his sister but then again, he and Lonnie were never close. Suddenly, the crowd began cheering. –“Ellie and Zan! Ellie and Zan!”- he could hear them.

Ellie and Khivar turned their faces to the people. They cheered to her and Zan. And to her. –“Ellie! Ellie! Ellie!”- she smiled. They had heard everything and they wanted her.

She looked at Zan with a smile. –“Thank you. But I can’t be your queen. Not yet, at least.” – she said through her tears that turned into joy tears.

“Then we shall wait.” – she could hear Lyrak’s voice in the crowd. Khivar got up and took her hand, helping her get up. They both faced the people, who began clapping their hands. Khivar felt strange. He never effect from the free people of Antar. Maybe, Ellie truly was a miracle worker.

But she was naïve. Khivar formed a smile on his face. His sister was too good to notice what he was really like.

Chapter 27

After the event before the people, Khivar turned a different tune. Every morning, the siblings would have breakfast together. He made it very clear that he did not prefer Zan but after a while, it seemed like he gave up since she didn’t want to listen.

It was about a month and half since Ellie and Zan had come home. It was the middle of the afternoon and Ellie sat on the balcony gazing at the sky outside. Zan walked inside and once they eyes met, they smiled at the same time.

“Hey, what are you up to?” – he asked her as he sat beside her. She turned to his side and rested her head on his shoulder. –“Just looking at the sky. I keep seeing the red skies of Ryctor in my mind.”- she confessed.

“Feeling a bit homesick, ha?” – he felt her nod. –“Yea, me too.”- she looked up at him. He was on his home planet. –“But you are home, Zan.”- she pointed out. He shook his head once.

“I know but being here just made me realize that my home is back there, on Earth. With Lonnie and Rath, and you. I know they did all those things but she’s my sister and he’s been my best friend since I could remember.” – he confessed and she kissed his check before resting her head on his shoulder again.

“I’m your home too, ha?” – she asked him with a smile. –“That’s right.”- he paused before making his intentions clear to her. –“How would you feel about adding a name to your own?”- he finally got the courage to ask.

She raised her head from him and stared at him for a moment. –“What are you saying, Zan?”- she needed to be sure. –“I’m only saying that I’d like you to hold my family name. To be . . . my wife, Ellie.- he finally said it. She smiled.

”Oh, my God. Are you asking me to marry you?” – she said with a huge smile on her face. She would not laugh at him but her heart filled with joy. –“From what I understand in my past life, I screwed up that part. I promise it to you and then I turned to another. I know the truth now and I want to make it right. I want you to be my wife, Ellie.”- he said it. It was, maybe, one of the longest lines he said to any girl like that.

“Then . . . I would be more then glad to be your wife.” – she told him and their lips met. She felt his hands on her spine as their tongue met in her mouth, gently playing. She pulled back for a moment to make sure she had a good look at him. –“I love you, Zan.”- she told him. –“And I love you.”- he answered her.

“No! No! And no!” – Khivar’s voice raged through his office. Ellie stood in the center of it as she watched him walk around. She just told him that she had agreed to marry Zan. –“Why not? I love him and he loves me and he wants to make it right, Khivar!”- she pointed out.

“He just wants the throne back, Ellie!” – his response came. –“That’s not true, Khivar. I don’t want it so even if it was true, he would not be king.”- she told him.

She watched him for a second as he walked to his chair and sat down. She had this one coming. She didn’t mind him being so protective of her. She wouldn’t want anything less.

She walked to him and kneeled on the ground, taking his hand with both of hers. –“Khivar, I’m asking you to trust me . . . and to let me try and find my own happiness. I’m stronger and wiser then I was back then. I can take myself.”- she said with a weak smile on her face.

His free palm reached to check with a gentle smile on his face. –“I know, you can. I just feel like I have to protect you. Just like you did back then, big sister.”- she smiled. –“I know, Khivar.”- she answered him.

“All I want is from you to forgive for I have done. You were right, my mind was filled with all sorts of things. All I could think about was protecting you from him.” – he said. To her it sounded like a confession. She was too weak to her brother to think anything more. She got up and hugged him.

“I have, Khivar. A long time ago.” – she told him. A huge smile formed on his face. It wasn’t nice, it wasn’t sweet and it certainly didn’t give about his sister.

She pulled back from him and he wiped the smile of his face. –“I’m going back to Earth. I have unfinished business down there. Would you like to come with me?”- he nodded.

“Great. Thank you. I think you’ll like it there.” – she said and after giving him a kiss on the check, walked out of the room.

<center> ***</center>

“Are you serious?” – Ellie heard Zan’s voice from her bedroom. She really didn’t understand the problem with it. So, Khivar was going to Earth. It wasn’t like he’s never been there. Well, that wasn’t true since his body never really left their system.

She walked into the bedroom wearing her robe. –“I don’t understand what’s the big, Zan? He’s my brother-”

”And Lonnie was my sister. And still, she almost killed me. No, wait, she did.” – he finished with a sharp voice standing in front of her.

“Zan, I trust him. And I love him. I’m not to blame that your sister turned out a bitch.” – she pointed out and walked passed him. –“If you want, you can stay. I’m going to Earth.”

“I won’t leave you alone with him. I’m going with you.” – he came behind her and put his arms around her. She rested her head on his shoulder. –“All I know from that world was that he was my enemy. I can’t give your life to him. I love you too much.”- he kissed her neck. She smiled.

“Don’t worry, baby. Everything is going alright. We will have peace and we will happy.” – words came from her mouth. She wasn’t even sure if she spoke to her unborn daughter or to the man she loved. She rested her head on his shoulders for a long time after that.

Chapter 28

The year 2014. Max turned around and opened his eyes. Last thing he remembered was dancing with Liz’s old version. He was in his bed, which seemed like his parent’s bedroom. He turned to his side and found a blond woman next to him. He silently sighed. His plan worked.

He learned a little more to the woman. It was Tess alright, only older then he remembered her. He got up from the bed and walked to the mirror. He wore the pants of his PJs and his hair was still to his shoulders as he remembered. He took a T-shirt from a chair next to the bed and walked to the doors. He took another look at Tess in the bed before he closed the doors behind him.

He was in the Evans house for sure. He walked to Isabel’s room and pushed it open, it was a nice a tidy bedroom. All of his sister’s things were gone. His heart skipped a beat. He hoped he didn’t fail.

He walked into the kitchen, a boy sat at the table. –“Hey, dad.”- he looked at the kid. He had no idea who he was. –“Excuse me?”- the kid could see his face.

“Dad, I know you can’t stand mom but all those sleeping pills will kill you. I’m Nathan Evans. Your 14-year-old son!” – the boy stood up and looked at Max. –“Whatever! I’m late for school anyway. Don’t wake mom up. She doesn’t have work today and she wants to sleep longer.”- he said and walked out of the kitchen.

Max sat down. He didn’t understand. The boy told him that he was 14 year-old son. This meant that that event with Kyle really did make a difference. He had a kid!

It took him a few moments to think it through. Then she walked in. Tess. She wore the upper part of his PJ’s and nothing under. She had short blue hair, to her ears. She smiled and walked to him on her toes. –“He’s gone right?”- she asked him.

It seamed like she woke him up. He startled and looked at her. –“Who? Nathan? Yea.”- he quickly answered and got up. She walked to him and put her hands on his chest and kissed him. Nothing. He felt nothing. His heart still belonged to Liz Parker, even after all this time. –“I have to go.”- she raised her eyebrow.

“Um, O.K., I thought I was making breakfast.” – she said, letting out a smile. –“I have to go, Tess.”- he said again and walked pass her. He got to his new bedroom again and closed the doors behind him, leaning on them.

“What is going on here?” – he asked himself. His son told him that he took too much sleeping pills and that he didn’t love Tess and Tess acted like they were newlyweds. He had to get out and find Liz. He took of his PJ pants and put on a pair of jeans and shoes.

He walked out of his room and through the hall. –“Don’t I get a kiss?”- he heard Tess speak. He walked to her and kissed her on the check and quickly walked out of the house. Another sigh left his mouth. This couldn’t be happening.

Then he felt something weird on his hands. He looked at it, a ring. Was he married to Tess? He walked to two cars and reached into his pocket, finding a key. He had no idea which was his. He pressed the button on it a BMW black that parked on the driveway opened up. He got inside, started it and drove of.

He drove forever when he finally came to the Crashdown. He parked his car outside and walked to the doors. He looked inside but he couldn’t find her anywhere. He pushed the doors open and walked inside.

“Get out!!” – he heard an angry voice. He looked at the direction where it was coming from. Jeff Parker. He didn’t understand it, nothing of it.

”Mister Parker, please. I need to talk to Liz. Something is terribly wrong here. I need to talk to her.” – his eyes met Michaels. Michael didn’t even bother to look at him long, just returned to cooking. Then his eyes met Maria’s. Maria could see his lost look and then something came to her, like a little voice. What Liz told you about the Future Max? Could it really be? Could he have been there and not know what has been going on all this time?, she stared at him for a moment as Mr. Parker pushed him out the doors.

”I told you for the last time, Evans. Stay out! You’re not welcomed here!!” – Mr. Parker shouted and turned to serving again. He stood there at the doors and watched as Maria slipped into the back. He walked to the back alley and found her running to him.

“Maria, what’s going on? Where is Liz?” – he started asking her. She looked at him for a moment, he looked worried. –“Max? You really don’t know?”- she started and he shook his head.

“It was you, wasn’t it? You were here?” – she asked him. At first he didn’t understand but then it hit him. Liz told her. –“Yes, I went back.”- he finally answered. –“To save Michael and Isabel.”- she pointed out and he nodded.

“We should really talk, Max. A lot has happened since you interfered with everything. By being a moron.” – she added sarcastically. –“But not here. Meet me tonight in the park.”- he nodded and walked back to his car. He would wait all day to know the truth. He didn’t understand a word of what she was telling him but he was glad someone would explain.

He drove around town all day. His cell rang once or twice, Tess. He didn’t want to answer. Finally, it was around 9 p.m. and he stopped in front of the park. He walked into it and sat on a bench, trying to remember but nothing came.

Then he heard steps and he looked to his right, it was Maria. She was different. It surprised him how he had never seen her in this year, he had no idea what she looked like. She wore black leather pants and a red top and her long brown curled hair fell on her shoulders. She sat next to him silently as he watched her.

“Max, when you had Liz change you in the past . . . and she pretended she slept with Kyle . . . you turned to Tess. And you slept with her. And she got pregnant with your kid.” – Max wanted to interrupt her but he saw how hard it was for her. Something bigger then that happened. He didn’t say a word.

“Alex went to Sweden. And when he came back, he was dead after a while. Everything pointed out that it was suicide. It drove the group apart. Liz wanted to prove that Aliens did it and you thought that she was pointed at you guys. We found out that Alex never the States, or New Mexico. He was in Las Cruses decoding your book.” – she paused for a second to take some air. She hadn’t spoke of it in ages. – “Liz was loosing her mind over it. She wanted to prove that Alex was murdered and you kept thinking how she was destroying everyone. One night you spoke and she snapped. The next day you told us that you put in a hospital. A mental kind.” – Max shook his head. He couldn’t believe he was hearing this.

Maria put her hand over his. She had more to say. –“I visited her there and she told me that she found out that Alex never left New Mexico. She told me where to look so Michael and I went. We found where he was and we found the book. The four of you were ready to leave when Kyle and I realized that Tess had been playing with his mind. Tess killed Alex, Max. She had mind warped him to the final level and there was turning back. She mind warped Kyle to help her get rid of him.”- another pause.

“If it wasn’t for Michael that decided that he wanted to stay behind that this home, we would never told you. You and Isabel would have died up there. Nasedo had made a deal with Khivar. Tess had to get pregnant with you and deliver all of you with the granolith. Michael stopped you finally she left she confessed. She left Earth with your baby.” – another pause. It was driving Max insane. How could he be married to a murder? How could he have a kid with her? And most of all, how could he do that to Liz?

“She came back later with the baby and you decided to keep it. Isabel and Michael kept pushing that she already did too much and she had leave. But you couldn’t loose your kid, not after everything else. You married her, Max. Her parents left for New York City when your father got a job there. Isabel, she went with him because she got married to Jesse Ramirez.” – she finally was finished.

“And Michael?” – he asked her. –“Michael and you haven’t spoken in 14 years, Max. Unlike you, he goes to see Liz every week regretting that he didn’t stop you. You didn’t have the courage to go.”

“That’s way her father hates me.” – he nodded. –“I did this. I did all of this. We were supposed to marry at 19, you, Michael, Alex and Isabel were supposed to be there. Alex was supposed to live. I have to fix things. I did all of this.”
He stood up. He didn’t know where to go. Nothing from his world existed. He was no warrior and there was no Serena. Or was there? He sat back down and looked at Maria.

“Is there a girl called Serena in Roswell?” – he asked Maria. She nodded nervously. –“Yes. She’s my daughter, Max.”- he shook his head. Was she really Michael’s kid? He knew she was a kid even then but how was this possible?

Something his head. 12 years back, Maria gave birth to a baby girl and she called her Serena Alexandra. And she put he up for adoption. They wanted to protect her. But Serena made her way home, he finally realized.

“Why did you name Serena?” – he asked her finally. She shrugged. –“Liz told me once that I have wait for a Serena to come to town. But she never did.”

“Yes, she did. Your daughter. You just never gave her up. Serena Alexandra, right?” – she nodded.

”She’s the key. She needs to figure out how the granolith works. I have to go back again. I need to make things right. If I warn Liz, she can prepare us all. We will be stronger if we know what is to come.” – he finished.

Maria was already on the phone. –“Serena, baby, its mom. Remember how you love playing with the granolith. Mommy’s gona need a favor.” – she hang up and looked back at Max.

“Make things right. And I better have Serena. Without giving her up.” – he nodded. –“I have to go see Liz.”- he finally said.

<center>***</center>

She gave him instructions where to find Liz. He gave her instructions on what Serena was supposed to do. Serena would know more, she was the genius between the two. The next day was and he didn’t even go home. He left a message on the voice mail telling Tess that he had to finish something. Maria told him that Brody had given him the museum to run so it wouldn’t be a problem.

He pulled his car at the large gates and pressed the calling button. –“Yes?”- a female older voice said.

“This is Max Evans, coming to see Liz Parker.” – he said nervously. –“Sir, the visiting hours are in the afternoon, I suggest-”

“Ma’am, I’ve done too many wrong things and I need them right. This is my only chance to see her. Please.” – he begged.

“Alright.” – she said after a second an the gates opened. He drove inside and watched in his mirror as they closed behind him. He parked his car in a parking space by the doors and he walked inside the building.

“Max Evans?” – a woman told him. She was maybe in her 50ties, with light brown hair, about his height. He nodded to her question. –“Follow me. And don’t tell anyone about this.”- she whispered and he followed her through a long hall.

She finally stopped at the doors 127, put in a key card and the doors opened. She nodded to the doors and walked back. He took a deep breath trying to find the courage and then pushed the doors to the inside, walking in. She stood by the window; she had hair short, just like he remembered her only she wore white pants and T-shirt.

”Michael, is that you?” – he heard her voice. It was so sad. He wanted to hug her so badly. His eyes blurred. –“Um . . . no. It’s not.”- he finally found the courage to say. This was hard, real hard.

She turned around quickly and faced him. The sight of him made her remember that night, the night when everything changed. He had come to her 14 years ago, telling her that he needs her to fall out of love for him. But she loved him still, even after all this time. But she shook her head. That was not that Max. This was the evil Max that put him in here.

“What do you want?!” – she asked with a demanding voice. –“I came to apologize. Maria told me last night all that happened. I had no idea what I was doing.”- he could hardy see her any more with all the tears in her eyes. –“I thought I was doing the right, Liz, when I came to you. And I realize it was all for nothing. I’m married to a murder, my son is living in that kind of home; Michael apparently hasn’t spoken to me in 14 years and Isabel married a guy and went to New York.”- he paused. She turned her head a little to the side with what he was telling her.

“Then that pain of that night was for nothing. Instead of doing things right, I’m a guy that owns to UFO museum. I was a warrior. I had a sister and a best friend that loved me. I had a wife that I adore. I risked all those years believing I was doing right. Instead, I destroyed everyone life . . .” – he fall on his knees, Liz could see tears down his face. She slowly started walking to him.

“Max? What are you talking about?” – she asked him. He looked up at her eyes and then back down to the ground. –“It turned out that I didn’t even have our wedding dance. I’m sorry, Liz. I loved you since I saw you as a kid and all the memories I have were the ones of us happy and together. I had no idea leaving Tess in town would do all this.”

“Max? Are you my Max?” – she finally asked. He looked at her. She was two feet away from him.–“No. I destroyed that, remember. I made you destroy it. You never got to have anything with your Max.” – she covered her mouth.

“I just want to thank you for telling Maria or she would never tell me anything.” – but he didn’t get to say anything. She rapped her arms around him. It felt good hugging him. She had kept a terrible secret of not sleeping with Max for 14 years and now she was on her knees with the man that knew the truth. Her soul was finally at some peace.

“Everything is going to be alright, Max. I promise.” – she told him. He kissed her forehead. –“Serena was right, Liz. My trip to the past was a chain reaction of events. Alex’s death, you here, me with Tess, Nathan, Michael and Isabel. Everything went wrong.”

She smiled and nodded. –“It’s alright. And I figured who Serena was. You know, when they had her, they wanted to put her up for adoption but as soon as I heard the name, I told them not to.”

“That was your idea?” – he kissed her checks. –“Thank you. She’s working on a way to fix all of this.”- Liz shook her head. –“Max, we have already done so much. We can’t mess with any of it again. We can’t.”

“No, we’re setting things right. I need you to go.” – she looked at him confused. –“Go to Max and tell him that all this with Kyle is to save the world. Tell him what happened then, what I told you and then tell him what the world will be if he gives in. He needs to know. We’re going to together and we’re going to be stronger, Liz. I promise you.”- he took her head into her hands and kissed her.

Flashes hit him right away. Their first meeting, when he healed her, when he saw her with Kyle, their dance in the balcony, her destruction with Alex’s death, her time here. She was the woman he loved; their connection was still there which meant she still loved him. –“I love you, Liz. I never stopped loving you.”- she smiled and looked at him. –“I loved you every step of the way. I did hate you but I believed that it was for the best.

She took his hand and looked into his eyes again. She missed those amber eyes. –“Let’s go change the world and make it right.”- she said with a smile. He took her hand and walked to the wall, placing his hand over the wall. It started to melt.

After about 15 minutes, he had melted out a huge whole for them to go throw. He looked back at her for a second and kissed her hand and then they ran out and to his car. The hit the gas and drove fast to the gates. –“Take the wheels”- she nodded and moved closer to him, keeping the car steady.

Max lifted both of his hands and the gates opened up. They drove past it and then he turned the other side and closed them again, melting the lock so they can’t go after them so quickly.

He put his hands on the wheel and met hers. She pulled back for a second but sat at the same position and leaned her head on his shoulder as they drove into town. –“Does Michael still live in his apartment?”- he asked her.

“No. They got a house not far from the Valenti’s.” – she told him. He nodded and drove there. He parked the car in front of a red house because Liz told him that was the one that Michael and Maria had showed her in the pictures. They got out of the car and walked to the doors.

Liz felt a bit unsure. She had spent 14 years closed in that hospital and everything was different to her. Max put his hand over her shoulder as they came to the doors and he rang the doorbell.

Maria opened the doors and waved her hand for them to come in. She closed the doors behind him. They could hear Michael shouting in the kitchen. –“Why did you even talk to him, Maria?!? I thought we said we wouldn’t talk to Max Evans?!?! And Serena doing something for him. I don’t like and she’s gona do it.”- the voice got louder which meant he was coming t them. Maria stood next to Liz.

”Did you hear-” – he suddenly stopped talking when he saw the three standing there. His angry look turned to Max, he was about to say something but Liz walked to him and he hugged her. –“Are you alright?”- he asked her with a concerned voice. She nodded. Max was glad that she had Michael to protect her all this time. –“Did he hurt you?”- she shook his head.

“No, Michael, he’s O.K.” – she paused, giving Max a gentle look. –“He doesn’t even know what happened all this time. You remember when I once told you Future Max?”- he nodded. –“That’s him. All he knows is the world he left. Not this. And we need to make it right. This is not reality.”- he nodded uncertainly.

“Can I count on you?” – Max’s voice came. He looked at him. He didn’t have any angry face anymore. –“Liz told me about you and what you did. How you was ready to ready to risk her for me and Isabel. So, yea, I’m with you. But I’m gona kick your sorry ass after that.”-

“Fair enough.” – Max replayed as Michael came to him. Liz came with Michael, holding his hand that was around her shoulder. The two meant shook hands and Liz smiled.

“Mommy, I think I have it.” – a voice came from behind them. Max looked behind Michael. Yep, that was Serena. The kid with a huge brains. –“That’s great sweetie. Come and meet your Uncle Max and Aunt Liz.”- the little girl nodded and walked to them. She first hugged Liz and then walked to Max and hugged him.

”So you’re going again?” – Michael’s question came. Max shook his head. –“Michael, he can’t. He’s already there and meeting himself could really screw up everything. I’m gona go and tell Max everything. Let him know what’s coming to prepare him.”- Michael nodded. He didn’t like it but he always trusted Liz. Especially, after her theory of Alex being killed by an Alien came true. She was always right as far as he was concerned.

<center>***</center>

Maria found something for Liz to wear. Michael and Max sat down at the kitchen table while Serena explained how the thing would work. She was amazed how her Uncle Max already knew mostly of what she would tell him. He explained to her that he had already been through it once so that’s why he can’t go. She informed him that one more journey would kill him.

When Maria and Liz joined them. Serena explained Liz how to work the thing. Max watched her. It seemed like he was getting memories or at least feelings from the last 14 years. He felt like he hadn’t seen her in all this time. He wanted to remember every bit of her.

“Maxwell . . . I’ll call Isabel and tell-” – Max shook his head. –“Michael, she doesn’t need to know. If everything works fine, she’ll never have this life.”- Michael nodded, knowing his friend was right.

The five drive into the desert to the pod chamber. Tess and Nathan are there. She tries for the abandoning card but Max doesn’t fudge. He told her that he would change the world and set things right.

Tess wanted to pay mind games on him again but Michael grabbed her and knocked her out. Max, Liz and Serena made a run towards the pod chamber and once they were in the granolith room, Serena gave the crystal to Liz.

“Aunt Liz, even if it works the world may be changed.” – Liz looked at the girl, not understanding. –“Why did you say that?”- the girl looked at her shrugging.

”She didn’t say anything, Liz.” – but she didn’t have time to get into explaining or asking. There was no time. Tess would wake up soon enough. She looked at Max and kissed him and then kneeled back, placing the crystal. –“Get back, both of you!”- she told Max and Serena. The granolith started glowing.

Liz took another look at the man she loved and placed her hand on the granolith. She was sucked in right away. She could still see the two looking at her. She then saw Maria and Michael run to the doors and the next minute . . . she was gone, not sure what the world she was coming to was going to be like.

Chapter 29

A light struck the balcony of Liz’s room. Liz could suddenly feel the solid ground. She knew where she was. She missed this place. It had been almost 14 years since she saw it. She walked into her room and looked around. There were no photographs of Alex and her research. She didn’t understand what was going on.

She remembered writing a diary in those days. She went quietly through the draws not wanting her parents to hear her. She finally found it in the last one. She sat on the floor and leaned on the bed as she opened it. She came to the end, without a date.

Its strange how your like can just change in a second. When Future Max came to me and told me what I had to, my heart was crushed. But I did it anyway because I love him. I love Max. But my pain seemed to have drawn a whole different destiny for me. I finally realize that all those dreams of Valerie and my past life are real.

I had a past life. Her name was Kivana Eli Xothorn and she was Zan’s slave. Well, actually she was Velandra’s slave but she was the love of life for Zan. Until he met Avarisa. It felt nice to know Max and I are really soul mates. But I learned more on the way, more then I wanted to.

Kivana Eli came from Ryctor, the 6th and ruling planet of our system. Her father and mother ruled. They were good and Kivana Eli would take their place. Her twin brother Khivar was not really at full mind to do so.

She paused for a second. She read the last sentence over again. She knew who Khivar was. It seemed to much right now but she knew that she didn’t have enough time. She needed to learn all this right now so she carried on reading.

My father’s best friend killed him and my mother. He took me and Khivar to Antar. It was where I met Zan. And Velandra. I was raised like no other slave. I lived in the palace as Velandra’s best friend. I could tell since we were kids that Khivar had a thing for her. And I was glad.

And Zan was a great boyfriend. He once promised that he would no other girl as his wife. And then he met Avarisa. A marriage was arranged. I hated him for that. He made the perfect plot on the day of his wedding. I even figured out how to give Khivar his brains. I had no idea I was pushing his limits. Instead of doing good, I did bad. Real bad.

All I wanted was to kill Avarisa because the throne of the six planets belonged me, Kivana Eli. And marrying Zan would solve all that. And I loved him. It was Khivar that killed Zan and Ratos, Zan’s war commander. Velandra killed herself because she blamed herself for their deaths. She was the one that let Khivar in because I promised her happiness with my brother. She took her life because she trusted me.

Later, after I made up my mind and took Zan’s side I shared a little of my blood with their future-selves, their pods; to bust them a bit. To make them stronger. At least, now I know how thy have their powers. It’s not that they didn’t have them it was that they were not as strong as mine. I cam from a pod, apparently but I never understood how I ended up with the Parkers. I have photographs of my mom being pregnant and me as a baby, while others came out when they were about 6.

I have much to figure out. For now, I have to say that I’m going home, the only home I have. Valerie and I figured how to raise Kivana Eli from the two of us. I’m going to be there for about a month to try and talk some sense into my brother. I have to believe that he is good. I have to believe because he is my baby brother, the son of my mother.

I have to do it for Max, Isabel and Michael. I already changed our future. I can’t stop now.

Max took what I had to tell him about Future Max very well. Then again, maybe it was maybe me being a bit dizzy with all the love making . . .

In case I never return from Antar, who ever reads this has to know that it was in the best interest of all us. And not just the Roswell pod group. But for the New York One and for the baby that Valerie, actually that Kivana Eli will give birth to. For a better future.

By the time, Future Liz finished reading, she was crying. A few drops fell to the diary. –“Liz?”- a very familiar voice came from the balcony. She turned to face him. She hated that face. The young Max that looked at her. –“Oh, my God, what happened to you?”- he suddenly asked, seeing her face older. He got in and rushed to her, putting his hands to her face.

She pulled away. –“Let go of me!”- she snapped. She didn’t like his hands around her, no matter how much she loved him. –“Liz, what’s wrong? Where are Val and Zan?”- she narrowed her eyes, not understanding him. She felt the diary that she held tight in her grip. She kneeled down and returned it to the bottom draw, closing it.

Max followed her with his eyes. She walked close to him and hugged him. She got hit by a vision.

[Vision]

Max and Zan(two Max’s for her) stood in the pod chamber holding a stone and the crystal in their hands. –“Are you sure about this?”- Zan nodded. –“She needs this, Max. She needs another shot. She thinks she failed. I love her too much to not to let her finish.”- Max nodded.

“You’re right, Zan. So who do we work this?” – Zan looked at the stone and started reading the symbols. Being with Kivana Eli had thought him a thing or two. –“We put it in upside down.”- then he looked at the crystal not following. Then he did.

They put it in together. –“It was good knowing you, Max.”- Max nodded in a response. –“Good luck, Ellie.”- then he said. And things started going backwards.

[/Vision End]

Future Liz broke from Max’s grip. –“She told you about Future Max.”- he nodded. –“Val?”- she shook her head.

“Future Liz.” – now he narrowed his eyes. She motioned him to sit on the bed as she explained. The world that Future Max came from, the world that she lived in. He began apologizing because of it but she made him stop. Instead, she asked him to tell her about this world. He did.

“Then my work is done. This world is a new one. Serena told me about it.” – she said with a smile. Max had a questioned face. –“I can’t tell you. You need to learn for yourself.”- she told him. She got up and walked to the balcony.

”Where do you go now?” – he got up after her. She looked at him. –“I think it worked. I’m gona disappear soon. I just wanted to take walk before I go. I haven’t been outside in 14 years. I don’t blame you but I need it.”- he nodded and she got through the window and down the latter.

She found herself walking through the streets of Roswell after a while. She was thankful that nobody was around, nobody she knew. She pinned her hands to her body, elbowing them so her fingers touched her shoulders. It was a bit cold on her. And strange.

This was a brand new world. She and Max thought they could change things back. But it turned out that it was already changing and she couldn’t tell if it was for the better or worse. She sighed as she dragged her feet.

A motorcycle hit the road. Liz looked at its direction, her gut telling her to. She saw the driver look her way and then *he* pulled over right in front of her. When he took of his helmet, she could see Michael. But after everything she heard to day, she knew it wasn’t’ so.

“Hey, you.” – he told her. He didn’t realize how different she was, not at first. –“What happened t’ ya?”- he said.

“You’re . . . Rath aren’t you?” – she brought herself to ask and he nodded. –“I never really met you. It’s really confusing. I just talked to Max and . . . he said you’re not go but my gut that you are. What do you think?”- he shrugged.

“I like t’ think s’, girl.” – he said. He didn’t lie. Liz was good with people. –“What’s this ‘bout?”- he asked her. She realized his hard New York accent but she understood it. In the hospital, she knew a New Yorker and she learned they way they speak.

“I don’t know what you know but I think I can trust you, Rath. Trust you that you will look after me.” – he narrowed his eyes. She lost him. –“Look, I never met you. I come from a world where my biggest concern is whose gona visit me. I just heard the story and maybe read what I wrote in this world. But this world so messed up. I came here to fix it but it kind of fixed itself.”- he said nothing, sitting on his motor and looking at her.

“You know how the granolith is powerful?” – he nodded, his fullest attention to her. –“I came from the future to solve this mess. Now, it turns out that I had a past life. Where I was with Zan. And it’s all my fault. All this mess.” – she said, her voice turning more anger. –“That’s gota suck.”- he brought himself to say it. She nodded.

“I’m gona be gone in a few minutes but I was wondering if I could ask you something. It could be a good chance for you to prove yourself. At least to me and not them?” – he nodded, listening so far.

“I want you to luck after Liz. The real Liz. Make sure she’s in good hands. Can you do that for me?” – he nodded. She walked to him and rapped her arms around him. –“You’re gona be a great friend, Rath.”- he heard her voice and then he felt nothing. He looked around her and she was gone.

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel “not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

About two weeks passed since Ellie and Zan took of and Max was getting worried. It was time for Alex’s funeral. He didn’t understand why they waited for him but part of him wanted Liz to be here for this. But she wasn’t and they couldn’t wait anymore. Things have happened.

From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

His encounter with Future Liz was nothing. The last two weeks couldn’t really be described shortly. Alex was dead and Maria couldn’t walk. She spent everyday trying and even he tried to heal her but nothing. It seemed like his powers were useless.

<center>So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

Things between him and Tess got deeper and they finally slept together. At first, it was a bit hard for him to process but he finally gave in. He made a promise and he said to keep to it.

Since Alex was gone, Isabel had completely blocked him out. She even considered leaving but she didn’t talk to Max so he couldn’t really know for sure.

Jim Valenti was feeling guilt that he couldn’t save Alex or Maria. And he was there. Max explained it to him a million times that he was there and he saved Maria. He did a good thing by helping them out but he just didn’t get it. Kyle showed a new side of him. A more mature. He spent his time worrying about his father and making sure he was alright. He wondered how he didn’t notice before that Kyle was such a good guy.

In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here.

Max had all these thoughts in the middle of the funeral. He refused to listen to what others were saying but when Maria sang ‘In the Arms of an Angel’, every thought he had was interrupted by it. The song was beautiful he was glad that he found something good to sing here.

He stood next to Michael, who was behind of Maria. Isabel kneeled to the ground in front of him, holding Maria’s hand. Tess stood next to him and Kyle and the Sheriff were behind her. On Michael’s left were Maria DeLuca with Alex’s parents and Liz’s parents. He really felt bad that she could be there with them.

What he did know was that in the bush stood a woman, looking at the crowd. She wore a black dress and her hair was up. Behind her stood two men. One was Zan, he knew Alex, even for a little; next to him, was her brother. Zan still didn’t want him here but he respected Ellie’s wishes. Yes, the woman was Kivana Eli. She had come home. She felt something was wrong but she didn’t believe it when she saw it in diner, a small card with the world ‘Alexander Charles Whitman will be missed forever by all of his friends’.

Tears went to her eyes. She had the power to heal him and she wasn’t there. She was useless if she couldn’t help the ones she loves so deeply. It was terrible. Zan walked to her and put his arms around her, tightening his grip for a second. She touched his hand with a weak smile and continued to listen to Maria sing.
