A/N: After this chapter there are only two chapters left. They’re all written out so I’m gonna post tomorrow and then the day after. Thanks to all for still reading and I hope you enjoy what I’ve done with it.

Chapter 21

Maria, Tess, and then Serena walked down the isle, smiling prettily in their deep green dresses, each carrying a beautiful bouquet of white poinsettias. They glided to the soft strains of violin and cello music that played a string version of ‘The Way You Look Tonight’.

Daphne followed in her crimson colored dress and all turned to the back of the church as the song flowed to end and the wedding march seamlessly began to play. The guests rose from their seats and watched with bated breath as the double doors opened again, revealing the cute little flower girl and Max as the ring barer, leading the way for the beautiful vision on her father’s arm.

Isabel practically floated down the red velvet covered isle, smiling tearfully at everyone she passed. Adoration completely radiated Alex’s expression and it mirrored the look Isabel had for him.

Philip lifted Isabel’s veil and gently kissed her cheek. “I love you sweetheart” he whispered and placed her hand on top of Alex’s. Their fingers instantly linked as Philip took his seat and the happy couple looked to the preacher to begin.

“Dearly beloved, we’re here today to join this man, Alex Charles Whitman, to his woman, Isabel Amanda Evans.”

Everyone watched with smiles on their faces as the two exchanged traditional vows and then rings. The smiles never left their faces and when he finally pronounced them husband and wife, the guests all cheered as Alex and Isabel shared their first kiss as husband and wife.

Hands joined, they ran down the isle together to the waiting limo while the bridesmaids took a groomsman outstretched arm. “They finally did it” Daphne whispered to Zan as they led the group down the isle to the back of the church. Zan smiled down at her and just barely held in the desire to kiss her.

The wedding party and parents all climbed into the remaining limos that would take them to the reception hall. Alex and Isabel were supposed to go for a half hour drive that would give everyone time to get to the party, ready to greet when the bride and groom arrived.

Everyone cheered and clapped when the new husband and wife walked in, smiling brilliantly but the slight disheveled appearance of Isabel’s hair led Daphne and the other girls to think there was another reason why their friend was smiling so big.

They walked to the center of the floor and the band struck up the first song.

Isabel and Alex couldn’t take their eyes off each other the whole time. They glided around the floor, oblivious to everyone else around them and when the song finished, they continued dancing as though they hadn’t realized the song had stopped.

“Can I have this dance?” Zan asked Daphne, holding his hand out to her.

“With pleasure” she replied, smiling up at him.

He led her to the floor and the song from earlier in the church began to play again.

Someday when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look--tonight.

“You look so beautiful” Zan commented as he finally gave into the impulse to kiss her. He didn’t care about anyone around them, his entire focus was on the amazing woman dancing in his arms.

“Thank you” Daphne smiled when he released her lips.

Oh, but your lovely,
With your smile so warm,
And your cheek so soft,
There is nothing for me, but to love you...
Just the way you look--tonight.

”I wish you didn’t have to leave soon” Zan admitted and in that minute, Daphne would have done anything to get out of her trip. She wanted nothing more than to stay in Roswell with him and Max, enjoying the holidays and getting to know each other again.

“I wish I didn’t have to go either” Daphne confessed and didn’t image the way he pulled her closer. “But I’ll be back before you know it and then we can spend Christmas together” she added, shooting him an encouraging smile.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fears apart.
And that laugh, that wrinkles your nose...
It touches my foolish heart.

“I love you” Zan stated. “You won’t forget that, right?”

“I won’t” Daphne agreed. “As long as you don’t change your mind about us while I’m gone.”

Lovely-- Never ever change.
Keep that breathless charm,
Won't you please arrange it?
Because I love you...
Just the way you look tonight.

“Baby that’ll never happened” he quickly assured, pulling her even closer until not a breath could pass between them. “I had to let you go once but there’s nothing that’ll ever make me do it again. I love you Daphne and I want to be with you forever.”

Oh lovely-- don't you ever change.
Keep that breathless charm,
Won’t you please arrange it?
Because I love you...
Just the way you look tonight.

Just the way you look...tonight.

“You…”

“Come on, it’s time for the meal” Tess interrupted when the song was through. The two smiled at each other and with their hands joined, they walked back to the table, taking their respective seats on either side of Isabel and Alex.

They all talked and laughed and soon enough, Zan stood up in his place and clinked his spoon against his wine glass. “Can I have everyone’s attention please? Let me start by saying, congratulations to my sister and my new brother” he began, receiving a round of cheers. “It’s hard to see your baby sister grow up and get married but knowing that she was marrying Alex made it a lot easier. They’re good for each other, they love each other and I know they’ll be happy together. I love you Izzy and I wish you a lifetime of happiness.”

‘Thank You’ Isabel mouthed to him while beside her, Daphne stood up.

“Just last night, Izzy and I were sitting in my room like we used to when we were kids and we talked about the first time Alex asked her out. See I was there, watching the whole thing unfold and even though I didn’t know Alex all that well at the time, I knew he was special because right from the start, he accepted her completely and in turn, she put a hop in his step that he never had before. Anyone can see how much they love one another and I don’t have the words to describe all the wonderful things in life I wish for them so I’ll just say, congratulations, I love you both.”

“To the bride and groom” everyone chorused, raising their glasses in salute.

Time passed with the cake cutting, a lot more dancing and finally, the bridesmaids slipped out to help Isabel get changed for the get away.

“Are you happy?” Daphne asked when the two were left alone.

“More than happy” Isabel replied, practically glowing. “Thank you so much for everything Daffy, I love you” she added and leaned down to hug the shorter woman.

“I love you too Izzy” she replied, hugging back just as tightly. “Okay Mrs. Whitman, it’s time to go on your honeymoon and have lots of sex” Daphne teased, breaking the serious moment before either of them started to cry.

“Ha, ha” Isabel laughed.

“Show time”

~&~&~&~&~&

Alex and Isabel walked out while bird seed rained around them. Isabel had been very adamant that she didn’t want rice since it was bad for birds. The guests all called out wishes out luck and happiness until the car pulled out onto the street.

Daphne didn’t want to leave the reception because it meant she would be that much closer to her trip. “Come on, let me take you home” Zan offered, carrying a sleeping Max in his arms. Daphne smiled in response and took his hand. His jeep was parked around the building where he’d left it earlier after the guys had been shipped over to check on last minute details.

Daphne climbed in first and held out her arms to accept Max, who had yet to wake up. Zan climbed in next and the two drove in silence.

The cold winter air had Daphne shivering in the open vehicle. Coming to a stop at a red light, Zan pushed his jacket off his shoulders and handed it to Daphne who accepted it with a grateful smile.

Her bags were already packed and all that was needed was to change and wait for one of the company cars to pick her and take her to the jet. Zan set Max down in their bed, carefully removed his shoes and tie then wrapped a blanket around him. He’d wake him later to change into his pajamas once Daphne was gone.

“Why does this feel so much worse than it should” Zan asked. The others had yet to come back yet and the two of them were sitting on the front steps, wrapped up in sweaters while they waited for the car to arrive.

“Because we just spent four years apart” Daphne replied. “But… well there’s something I want to tell you.”

“What is it?”

“The night at the cemetery, when I told you about… my past. Well all that stuff happened when I was in high school. I never slept with Grant” she admitted. She knew that she didn’t have to tell him that but she didn’t want there to be secrets between them. They had always been completely straight forward with one another and she didn’t want to change that now.

“Thanks” Zan replied, smiling faintly at her. “I just… well I know that I can’t change the past but… I just want to put some of that stuff behind us and start fresh with you now.”

“I want that too” Daphne replied.

Headlights flooded the air around them and with reluctance, Daphne stood up. “Thanks Paul” she smiled when he took her bag.

“Be careful and call me when you get the chance, okay” Zan requested. He knew that of all the places to travel to, Atlanta was where she’d least want to go after what happened to her parents. “I love you” he whispered, kissing her softly.

“I love you too.”

They held on for a few minutes more before she had to go. Climbing into the backseat, she kept her eyes forward the whole time, and expelled a deep breath as they slowly drove away.

A/N: This one is short but it’s setting up the much longer last chapter. Thanks again to everyone!!!

Chapter 22

Daphne felt like she was in hell. The hotel was a mess of complaints and bad weather damage. If she didn’t know better, she would think a hurricane had hit Atlanta and the never ending rain didn’t help things any. David even stuck around a little longer to help out since they hadn’t anticipated there would be such a mess to deal with but when the power went out due to another storm, Daphne became even more frustrated and worried that she wouldn’t make it back to Roswell in time.

When the generator kicked in, Daphne decided it was time to stop playing around and quickly started delegating tasks to every single employee in the hotel.

She never broke promises and she wouldn’t break this one either even if she had to work for the next forty eight hours straight to get the job done in time.

Back in Roswell, Zan and Max were having dinner at his parents’ house. “I was thinking that for Christmas, we could have a big lunch here and then maybe the two of you could stay over to watch movies and have dinner” Diane suggested.

Zan and Max had opted to stay at Daphne’s house even though she was still in Atlanta. He knew his parents wished different because they wanted to spend more time together but he also knew that they understood his reasons. “We’ll figure something out” Zan replied, smiling kindly at his mother while Max looked between all the adults.

“I spoke with David earlier, he’s still in Atlanta” Philip commented. “Apparently the place is a really big mess. He mentioned that Daphne’s been running herself ragged trying to get everything straightened out as soon as possible.”

“Does that mean she won’t come back?” Max asked.

“Of course she will dear” Diane quickly assured. “She’s just really busy right now.”

Zan mulled over his father’s words, thinking about promises and hopes. He honestly couldn’t wait for her to come back and he wasn’t afraid to admit that he missed her like crazy but then he also knew it wasn’t going to be easy for her to finish up everything in only a couple days which was why he made a quick decision. “Max, can I talk to you for a moment?” Zan requested, watching as his son gave him a curious look but nodded in agreement. “Excuse us” Zan added and took Max’s hand to lead him upstairs to his old childhood room.

As they walked away, Philip and Diane shared a look and a secret smile. “I’ll go get the ring” Diane offered. “And I’ll call the office and have the jet on standby” Philip added.

“What is it daddy?” Max asked. He looked to his father with an inquisitive stare as he sat on the bed, swinging his legs back and forth in a childlike manner.

“You like Daphne, right?” he asked.

“Uh huh, she’s really nice.”

“How would you feel if I asked Daphne to marry me?” Zan carefully asked as he knelt down before his son.

“You mean like aunt Izzy and Uncle Alex?”

“Like that” Zan agreed, glad that his son understood.

“Would she be my new mommy?” Max wondered and honestly, Zan wasn’t too sure how to answer that. He would love to say yes but he also didn’t want Max to forget where he came from. He and Ava may have had their share of problems but she had been good inside and Zan knew she deserved to be remembered.

“Well…” Zan carefully began. “Do you remember when I told you about your mommy, Ava? Well she’s always gonna be your mommy but if I marry Daphne, she won’t be your new mommy, she’ll be your other mommy” he struggled to explain to the curious four year old.

Max thought about that for a few moments before a smile crossed his face. “I want you to marry Daphne” he stated with a complete sincerity and seriousness.

“Then let’s go back to the house and pack our bags because we’re going to Atlanta” Zan decided.

Chapter 23

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow
And mistletoe
And presents 'neath the tree

Christmas eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

Christmas eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
If only in my dreams

“Okay, that should be the last of it” Daphne stated, letting out a heavy sigh of relief that they had finally gotten everything settled. She’d probably have to fly back soon but at least she could bring Philip with her later and David had been a big help, completely going above and beyond the call of duty.

“Um… actually I have some bad news” David stated, offering her an apologetic look when her face tensed in concern. “I called the airport to confirm the flight back to Roswell and there’s a problem with the jet” he told her. “It might be an engine problem or something like that but the pilot said they wouldn’t have it fixed until maybe tomorrow afternoon, possibly the day after that.”

She didn’t reply, instead Daphne reached into the desk and pulled out a phone book. “What are you doing?” David asked, uneasy about how well she was taking the news.

“I made a promise that I would be back in Roswell by tomorrow so if I have to take a bus, a train or rent a car to get there, I’m gonna keep my promise” she replied and started jotting down numbers to call.

“It’s too dangerous, the roads suck right now” David protested. “Just wait it out, I’m sure your friends will understand.”

“Promises don’t work that way David.”

“Okay… um, give me the book and I’ll make the calls while you get your stuff together” he offered, reaching for the yellow pages before she had a chance to reply. “I’ll call up to your room when I figure something out.”

Daphne opened her mouth to protest but the scolding look on the older man’s face had her shutting it with a snap. “Thanks” she said instead.

The elevator was completely empty as Daphne stepped in and rode to the top floor where she was currently staying. Once they had gotten to the heart of the damages, it ended up not being as bad as it appeared and hopefully, it would take no more than a few weeks to have everything as good as new.

When the elevator stopped on her floor, Daphne reached into the back pocket of her jeans and pulled out the card key. She couldn’t wait to get to Roswell where she could stay in bed all morning with Zan. Zan… he had been on her mind throughout the entire trip and thinking about him now, she couldn’t help but smile.

Walking in, the first thing she noticed were the flowers sitting on the coffee table. A beautiful vase full of lilies. “Hello” she called out, receiving no answer. Quietly, she walked forward and plucked the white card from the bouquet.

Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.

From where she stood, she saw another bouquet on top of the wet bar. These flowers were white daisies. With a fluttering heart, she picked the next card and read the single line.

Love one another and you will be happy. It's as simple and as difficult as that.

She looked around for some clue about what to do next. Then she saw it, a red envelope taped to her bedroom door. Carefully, she pulled at the tape and pulled out the third card. This one was longer and brought tears to her already watering eyes.

Marriage is an Athenic weaving together of families, of two souls with their individual fates and destinies, of time and eternity--everyday life married to the timeless mysteries of the soul.

With all three cards in her hand, Daphne turned the knob and gently pushed the door open.

The shades had been drawn, the curtains were closed and the room was bathed in near darkness. She reached for the light switch but no one was around. The room was empty except for a single box that lay in the center of the bed. Daphne slowly walked forward and picked up the box that had no note.

Inside, on a bed of satin was a very beautiful diamond ring. “Oh my god” she gasped.

“Merry Christmas Eve” Zan greeted as he walked out from the bathroom with a red rose in his hand. “How do you like your present?” he asked.

“It’s… its beautiful” she whispered.

“It belonged to great grandma Evans” Zan informed as he took the ring from her hand. Daphne didn’t even blink before he lowered down to one knee and took her hand in his.

“I love you. I have always loved you and I know that I always will love you” he quietly began. “Our story hasn’t been a perfect one, we had problems and we had time apart but we also loved each other enough to find out way back together. A long time ago, I never considered marriage or who I would marry because it didn’t seem all that important. You came into my life and you changed the way I look at everything, you changed the way I felt and you change me. I love you more than I ever imagined and I was prepared to love you a lot. Will you marry me?”

Dropping down to her knees in front of him, Daphne nodded, unable to find her voice.

With love shining in his eyes, Zan slid the ring up her finger and leaned in to place a kiss on her lips.

Tugging on her hands, Zan pulled her up and towards him. He hugged her tightly and placed kisses on every exposed part of skin until he finally reached her lips again.

Daphne returned the kiss with as much hunger as he put into it and neither pulled away until the need for air became a necessity. “How did you get here, the weather’s horrible and all the flights must have been booked” she asked in amazement, once she got her mind working again.

“Dad arranged for me to take the jet” Zan replied and pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ears. “But before we get into that, I placed a dress in the bathroom for you and after we get changed, the preacher will…”

“Whoa… do you want to get married today?” Daphne asked, blinking rapidly at first as the tried to grab hold of what he was saying.

“Yes” Zan answered with absolute certainty.

“But… Zan we just got back together” Daphne quickly argued. “Isabel is still on her honeymoon, your parents are in Roswell and Max is… wait a minute, where’s Max?” she added.

Zan took each one of her comments in stride and one by one, he answered all of them. “My parents are actually in the room next door and Max is with them now. As for just getting back together, it doesn’t matter if it’s been three days or three years. I love you Daphne and I want to marry you, I want you to be my wife and I don’t want to spend another day without you.”

“But it’s been four years, what if I don’t measure up to the memory of the girl you used to know?” she worried. “What if deep down you expect see that seventeen year old girl who was confident and carefree. I mean, I might still be confident about certain things but I am not carefree anymore… I’m not that girl anymore” she stated sadly.

“Sweetheart, that’s an easy one to answer because the truth is that I already know you aren’t that girl anymore. You grew up and honestly, I think that the woman you are now is incredible” Zan replied.

“But what about the fact that our lives are in two different places?” Daphne felt the need to remind. “You live in Chicago and I live in New York. I spend half my time traveling around the south part of the country and…”

“And I understand that traveling will always be some part of your job, but I also wouldn’t ask you to stop because it wouldn’t be fair to you” Zan stated, cupping her face gently in his hands. “And the whole separate city thing… well I know that we’ll have to work through that but I’m willing to try anything in order to be with you.”

“But what if…”

“Listen” Zan replied, looking her straight in the eye. “If you really want to wait, then we’ll wait, but if the reason is because you think I’m not sure of my feelings or because I don’t know who you are… you’re wrong. I know exactly who you are.”

“And who am I?” Daphne asked softly.

“You’re the generous woman that paid for my sister to go to school and bent over backwards for her wedding. You’re the kind hearted woman that sends flowers every year to a grave for a woman you’ve never met before. You’re the wonderful woman that my son adores. You’re a confident and intelligent twenty two year old woman who successfully runs her own company. You’re the beautiful woman I fell in love with so long ago and you’re the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with” Zan replied, punctuating each statement with a kiss, swallowing her surprised gasp about the flowers.

“You’re a friend Daphne and you’re strong. But I know there are more than all of those things. You’re also very stubborn and you’ve held so much hurt inside of you but I want to be there with you, helping you heal. I want to tell you that you’re working too hard and I want you to tell me to act my age. I want… I want you and all of your qualities and all of your faults and I want you to want me and all of my faults and all of my qualities because the truth is that I know you aren’t perfect and I know I’m not perfect but we’re perfect for each other.”

“How did you know about the flowers?” was the one thing she zeroed in on.

“I kind of always suspected” Zan admitted. “But yesterday when I walked into your office to grab the book Max left in there, I saw the computer screen and the flower invoice. It was the same company the flowers on Ava’s grave always come from.”

“Well I knew how important your son is to you and she died bringing him into the world” Daphne shrugged. “She deserved to have flowers.”

Zan smiled. One thing that had never changed about her was her beautiful heart. “Please say you’ll marry me.” He wasn’t lying, he would wait if she wanted but he truly hoped he didn’t have to.

Daphne bit her lip in thought. She could always sit back, being cautious or she could take a chance and actually get some happiness. It had taken less than a summer to fall in love with him the first time and she never fell out of it. Love was always a risk but when it came down to it, she truly believed that this risk was worth the outcome. “I’ll marry you” she stated.

Zan’s grin lit up his face as he lifted Daphne up and twirled her around his arms. His smile was infectious and she laughed as he spun until he could hardly stand upright. “Come on” he encouraged and linked his hand with hers to drag her out of the room to the one next door. “She said yes” he announced the moment the door opened.

“Congratulations” they called out as Philip and Diane came forward to envelope her in affectionate hugs. Daphne returned them with just as much love before breaking away to see Max who was happily sitting in father’s lap.

“You okay with this?” she asked him, kneeling so that they were on eye level.

“Yep” Max replied and leaned forward so that he fell into her arms. Daphne fell back laughing as she hugged him to her.

“Well what are we waiting for? Let’s get the two of you married”

~&~&~&~&~&

Diane helped Daphne get ready in her room. The dress Zan brought was a long and simple white slip dress. It was perfect for Daphne’s tastes. They curled her hair and rather than a veil, she plucked one of the lilies from the vase and placed it behind her ear.

Max would be Zan’s best man, Diane was her maid of honor and Philip agreed to give her away since it only seemed fitting to her.

Daphne could admit that she was a bit disappointed Isabel wouldn’t be there but Zan assured her he would marry her as many times as she wanted in as many places as she wanted as long as it meant she was always his wife. Daphne had to smile at that and pushed past her sad feelings, concentrating on the fact that she was about to get married.

The wedding was taking place in he downstairs ball room and the entire staff had been invited. Tearfully, Diane and Daphne took the elevator down until they reached the bottom floor. “Okay sweetheart, I know that you wish Izzy was here but since she can’t be, here is your something borrowed” she said, handing Daphne a pair of earrings she recognized as Isabel’s first pair after getting her ears pierced at age fourteen.

“And your something blue” Serena added, coming forward with a blue garter. “Old… and new” Tess and Maria added as they also appeared. “You didn’t really think we’d miss your wedding” Serena stated with Max’s duh look on her face.

“Plus, we’re calling Izzy and putting her on speaker phone so it’ll be like she’s here” Tess informed. “Alex too” Maria added.

Daphne smiled with watery eyes at the girls as they all pulled her into a hug. It didn’t matter that she’d only known Tess and Maria for a week, they were friends now and it meant a lot to Daphne that they were here for her. “Now it’s time for you to get married.”

The three girls slipped back out, leaving Daphne with Philip and Diane. Both parents gave her a kiss on the cheek before Diane walked forward to music Daphne couldn’t even here, she was that excited. “Before you go out there, I just want to say one thing” Philip said, holding her hands within his. “Zan is my only son and I’m really proud that he’s marrying you and officially making you one of my daughters. Diane and I love you and we wish you all the best.”

“How did you know?” Daphne asked.

“Know what, sweetheart?”

“Not more than a few days ago, you mentioned something about Zan and I getting married. How did you know that we would?”

“You and Zan may have been apart all these years but I got to see the two of you regularly. I’ve watched you both grow and live your separate lives and thought all of that, I knew my son loved you and I knew you still loved him. It was only a matter of time” Philip replied. “And now it’s our turn to get out there.”

Their relationship had always been unique and proof of that was the song Zan chose to play rather than the wedding march as Daphne and Philip walked down the isle.

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

When they reached the front of the makeshift isle, Philip gave Daphne another kiss on her cheek before giving away her hand and mimicking the gesture he’d used just days before, only this time, he considered both of them his children.

Daphne smiled brightly at Zan as the preacher began his speech. They listened but their eyes never left each other and when it was time to repeat their vows, there was nothing but love and adoration in their gazes.

“I, Zander Xavier Evans, take you, Daphne Kristin Forrest, to be my wife. I promise to love, honor and cherish you from this day forward, until death parts us. With this ring, I thee wed.” And he slowly slipped the gold band on her finger to rest above the diamond engagement ring.

“I, Daphne Kristin Forrest, take you, Zander Xavier Evans, to be my husband. I promise to love, honor and cherish you from this day forward, until death parts us. With this ring, I thee wed.” Holding his left hand in hers, she gently pushed the gold band up his fourth finger.

The preacher said a few more words before finally saying, “And now I present to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Zander Evans. You may now kiss the bride.”

The group of friends, family and staff workers all cheered as Zan and Daphne locked lips and proceeded to get lost in their kiss like no one else was in the room. The feel of Max pulling on his jacket was what finally separated them.

Zan leaned down to lift up his son who wrapped his arms around him in a big hug. “Love you daddy”

“I love you too Max”

“Love you mommy” he added to Daphne who blinked once before a single tear fell. “I love you too Max” she smiled as Zan brought her into their hug.

“Now let’s party!” Kyle called out.

~&~&~&~&~&

After a five minute cell phone conversation with Isabel and Alex, Zan took Daphne’s hand to lead her out onto the floor for their first dance as husband and wife. “I hope you don’t mind, Mrs. Evans” he said with a grin. “But I picked the song.”

I finally found someone
That knocks me off my feet
I finally found the one
That makes me feel complete
It started over coffee
We started out as friends
It's funny how from simple things
The best things begin

“I love this song” Daphne stated, wrapping her arms securely around his neck as they swayed back in forth to the meaningful ballad.

“I know” Zan replied.

This time is different
And it's all because of you
It's better than it's ever been
'Cause we can talk it though
My favorite line was
"Can I call you sometime"
It's all you had to say
To take my breath away

This is it, oh I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night
'Cause whatever I do
It's just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

“Do you know how much I love you?” he asked and lowered his mouth to gently caress her lips.

“I know” Daphne replied.

Did I keep you waiting? I didn't mind
I apologize, baby that's fine
I would wait forever just to know you were mine

You know I love your hair
Are you sure it looks right?
I love what you wear
Isn't it too tight?
You're exceptional
I can't wait for the rest of my life

“Do you know that I’m gonna love you forever?”

“I know”

This is it, oh I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night
'Cause whatever I do
It's just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone
And whatever I do
It's just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

~&~&~&~&~&~Six Months Later~&~&~&~&~&~

“Hmm…” Daphne moaned in satisfaction. Zan rolled them over so that she was sprawled across his chest and soothingly began running his hands through her hair. “I love you” she said, placing little kisses on his chest before her laying her head down over his heartbeat.

“Love you too” Zan replied, smiling down at her.

It hadn’t been easy at first. There were a lot of adjustments to make. They couldn’t live in different cities much less different time zones so Daphne finally made the choice to give up her apartment in New York and moved to Chicago to be with Zan and Max. Knowing that he would have done the same for her was what made the choice such an easy one to make and now Billy and Serena were Park Ave. residents.

Isabel and Alex also decided to move, but they chose to return to New Mexico when Alex agreed to start taking over his father’s electronics company. Despite the distance, she and Daphne were actually closer than ever. Then as for Mike, Maria, Tess and Kyle… well they were also really good friends that spent a lot of time at Zan and Daphne’s new and slightly bigger apartment.

The hotel business was doing well, at least now that everything in Atlanta was squared away and while Daphne still traveled, she cut down half of it and handed over a few more responsibilities to some of the other executives who were glad to see her taking a step back to enjoy life. When she did travel, Max and Zan tried to go with her when they could but she was looking into building somewhere in Illinois within the next year so hopefully she wouldn’t have travel as much anymore, especially with the additions.

“Zan?”

“Hmm…” he tiredly asked.

“What would you say if I told you Max was going to have a little brother or sister in about eight months?”

“He’d probably like… what?! Are you…? Are we…?”

Daphne sat up and looked down at him. “Would you be happy if we were?” she nervously bit her lip.

Zan quickly sat up and cupped her face in his hands. “I love you so much” he told her and fused their mouths together in a heated kiss that left no question about whether or not this was good news.

Zan was right, she wasn’t perfect and neither was he, but they were perfect together. He and Max were her life and as long as they were around, somebody would always be home.
