I set Cleo down on the sofa,between Alex and me and watch as she cautiously makes her way slowly towards him,just like a cat,curious.

"Why don't you? It sounds like you have it all planned out and I'm sure Cleo would love it. Or can't you because you are a princess?"

He thinks I can't go because I am a princess...mental slap on the head here...where has this guy been living all these years.Doesn't he know princeses do all sorts of things nowadays? Apparently not!

"Of course I can.Cleo can be left here and Hannah can look after her and she's used to Max and Michael.I just haven't had the time over the past few years.There have been other things keeping me occupied.Where will you go from here next?"

I'm a bit surprised by the sudden change of topic but that's okay. Cleo's close to making contact. A few more steps and I could reach her with my hand but it might be better to not rush things.

"I'm not sure. If your brother doesn't appear soon, I'll of course leave. I've been intruding for way too long already. Maybe I'll drive to my place, so I can see if it still exists and sleep for a few hours. Or I'll call my friend Maria to see what she's doing."

Isabel

Oh god...he thinks I was hinting for him to leave!!!
"I meant where will you go next,as in for work.Which country? I wasn't trying to say that you should leave right now."

I notice Cleo has reached him and is sniffing his knee,"If you scratch her under her chin she'll purr just like a cat."

Alex

"Oh." I feel now a bit dumb that I didn't get what Isabel meant.

"Before or after she bites my hand off?" I joke as I carefully reach forward and gently stroke/scratch Cleo. Like Isabel said, I could hear some faint purring emitting from her. Not really like a cat's purr but damn close.

Watching Cleo, I finally answer Isabel's earlier question, "I'm honestly not sure where to go next. I'm thinking either Australia or Newfoundland. In both places are interesting projects that I want to take a look at but maybe I'll just stay in Roswell for some time."

I look up at Isabel again, "I also know of an interesting WWF project taking place in South Africa. If you want, you could come along. It would only be a three to five days trip, nothing long or dangerous. Maybe I could manage to make you see that Antarians and Humans can indeed from great alliances. Cleo could come too."

Isabel

As much as I hate to admit it,he is one interesting man but of course I am never going to tell him that or any one else for that matter.His life must be exciting and fun and with a definite purpose.Unlike mine! Mine used to be to be a good mother and wife.Now all I do is go to work in the morning,come back home in the afternoon and then swim or go for a walk and read,sometimes go for a party.

He really seems to like Cleo.I can't help but smirk at him,"You're not going to try and marry my Cog are you?" I ask jokingly "Because you keep saying I can bring her along.It's not like she can't live without me."

I think about his offer.It is so very tempting and it'll be a chance for me to get out of this house and do and see something different but what about those other people. "I'm not sure that is a good idea Alex,as much as I like the sound of it.People might not take too kindly to having an Antarian in their midst."

I give Isabel a mock glare, on the inside, I'm delighted that we seem to get along so well. Looks like the first contact with an alien wasn't so bad. "Oh please, I'm sure she'd take me!" I joke.

"I'm not that is a good idea Alex,as much as I like the sound of it.People might not take too kindly to having an Antarian in their midst."

"Then don't tell them." I reply with a shrug, "It's not like they are going to ask 'Hey, are you human or not'."

Isabel

What if they find out what I am? I know I sound paranoid but I've never been away from my people,I mean just surrounded by humans.I don't even know Alex Whitman.For all I know he could be some weird alien hunting nut.

'Oh get it together Princess Isabel'-I admonish myself silently
I am more than capable of defending myself if the need arises and this will give me a good break from the monotony of my life.

"When do you have to go for this?" I ask him,not sure about it yet

I can all but see the wheels turning in her head as she thinks about it. Trying not to stare too much, I glance down at Cleo again who seems more than okay with me petting her. She already curled up next to me. If I were just this lucky with women in general.

I cringe slightly at that, knowing that now, the downside of my plan will kick into action. "Soon ... really soon. If I go, it will have to be within the next three days. It could already be tomorrow, I'm not too sure. I'd have to ask one of my friends about the details. Since I don't have any close family or a girlfriend the *when* has never been a big concern for me." I explain.

Isabel

Hmm! So I guess he isn't used to having to answer to people about his whereabouts. Now why the hell did that thought cross my mind? It's of no concern of mine after all.

Within the next three days is really really soon.
"Can I think it overnight and let you know tomorrow?It's just that within the next three days is really soon."

"Sure." I reply with a smile. "It's a big decision after all. I mean, I'm not even 100 % sure if I'll go ... guess that depends on my meeting with Liz and your brother."

Both who still have not arrived. Absently stroking Cleo's fur, I glance around. I hope they do come back here, I don't wanna be stuck here for the rest of the inght. Not that it's an ugly place or Isabel is someone who's not pleasant company, I just want to go home and sleep sometime today.

"Just tell me tomorrow or the day after tomorrow what your decision is and in case you wanna come along, I'll get you list with items that you'll probably need."
