"You are welcome." I say and since it is a rather slow song, I pull Isabel a bit closer, wanting to keep her safe from the whole world and especially her ex. "But if you want to, I'll hold him so you can slap and kick him as much as you want."

Wait! Did he just flirt back? Warning bells are going off and I know I'm in serious trouble with this guy if I don't pick a safe subject now. Um..."So, Michael, did Liz tell you about the carnival tomorrow?" I fidget a little with my drink and try not to stare into his face.

Isabel

"But if you want to, I'll hold him so you can slap and kick him as much as you want."

I laugh when he says that and press a kiss to his cheek before looking at him,"Thank you...for making me laugh."

Alex

"Thank you...for making me laugh."

"I'm glad it worked." I reply with a smile. I'm about to ask whether she wants to head back to the others later (where Grant still is) but then decide to let that problem bother us when the song is over.

Putting my cheek against her head, I sigh, "This is nice."

Isabel

"This is nice."
I simply nod my head and sway to the music.

After a while I explain,"He cheated on me and then tried making out as if it was my fault that drove him to it."

I don't look at Alex while explaining but just keep looking over his shoulder,"I walked in on him and Jennifer.She was my flat mate."

She moves her hand to the back of my hair and starts to play with it. And I simply can't help but shiver.
"So what made you decide to go into medicine?"

"Good question..." I murmur huskily. "I guess... I like helping people. And I can't think of a better way to help than to try and make people better."
I realise Im about to start talking madly about my job again so I decide to change the subject back to her... whilst moving ever closer to her of course.

"What about you? Why your job?"

Alex

God, what an ass! How could someone cheat on Isabel? And then try to blame her for it? Stupid! And that Jennifer? Bitch!

"I'm sorry that you got hurt by the two of them. I know how horrible it is when someone you care about turns out to be cheating. I hope you got to hurt him for what he did to you ... well, him and Jennifer."

Isabel

"I hope you got to hurt him for what he did to you ... well, him and Jennifer."

I shake my head,"NO...I think I was too shocked to say anything. I couldn't believe my eyes. They both jumped up and hastily put some clothes on and Grant tried making some pathetic excuses and Jen,well she just kept quiet."

Taking a deep breath I continue,"I just told her to have her things packed and be ready to move out of my apartment by the morning.I spent that night here,with Liz."

Alex

I silently listen to Isabel as she tells me about the whole thing, really wanting to go over and knock Grant down and then hunt that Jennifer down and tell her what a horrible friend she is.

But instead, I just listen to Isabel, moving my hands up and down her back in what I hope is a caring and not seductive manner.

"I never really got to tell Leanna - my college girlfriend - how much she hurt me either. I was always avoiding her and wallowing in self pity instead. Maybe the healing process would have been faster if I had told her about what she'd done to me but ... I survived and can think back on it now without starting to bawl like a baby so I guess it all worked out fine."

Looking down at Isabel, I ask, "If he still is near Kyle and Tess when the song's over, do you still want to head over to them or would you rather go somewhere else?"

Isabel

"I guess what doesn't kill us makes us stronger." I repl after listening to his explanation about his ex-girlfriend Leanna

"Well I can't keep avoiding him for the rest fo my life so might as well be civil and if he tries to talk to me too much I can fling some water in his face or something." I laugh a little at that "But seriously,let him hang aorund if he wants.Don't know what he thinks he's going to achieve."

The song ends at that moment,"Let's get some snacks to munch one."
