"No reason to apologize, you didn't know so ... it's okay." I reply with a shrug. She is not the first one to make a wrong assumation. "With me still wearing the ring, it is easy to believe that ... things are different."

Glancing around briefly, I sigh. "I think we really should get back before Seth really eats all the cookies and I won't manage to get him to eat real food before going to bed."

I walk through the door that Alex is still holding open. I brush past him and try not to react. "Thank you" I say quietly.

She certainly won't mean me helping her find the watch or wanting to take some of her pictures - especially since I'm not even paying for them.

Oh, holding the door, of course. I'm such a fool, what else could it have been. Good thing that Serena didn't witness this - she'd never let me live that one down.

Closing the door behind me, I follow Isabel back into the kitchen, glad to see Seth with Serena and not bent over the table, devouring the cookies. Giving Isabel a small smile, I crouch down next to them and hold up the watch so my son can see it.

SERENA

I watch the interaction between Isabel and Alex with unconcealed interest. I try and read their body language to see if there’s even a flick of attraction between them but its hard. Isabel has always been good at hiding her emotions and Alex has been the same way ever since Abby. But the pair have been absent from the kitchen for a while so they must have talked about something.

This is good. Better then good. I haven’t even began matchmaking and Alex has only been back for a few hours and already there might be some interest between my roommate and cousin. I’m not saying that its love at first sight or even this huge attraction. But there might be something and that is good enough for me at the moment. Something can always grow into love.

"Hey, does this look familar to you?" Alex asks Seth as he holds up the watch.

“You found it!” Seth declares happily and reaches for it with his free hand.

“Well, aren’t you just Super Dad.” I say with a playful grin. “You were gone for a while. Was it really well hidden or were you distracted by something a little more interest?”

Really, sometimes I can’t help myself.

"Of course I was distracted by something else." I pause for a moment, enjoying how her eyes widen before I continue. "Isabel and I discussed her pictures and had a debatte on whether I should pay for a few of them or not."

Oh no....shes not going to start trying to push Alex and I together is she? Cos for a start, I ruined that all in the bedroom, and he doesnt like me, and Im a busy woman....
