I know he's trying to be reassuring but who's known Liz longer...me! I know how these games of hers turn out.

"Hmm...I'm not worried and she can't force me to take part if I don't want to.I just don't want to be made to do any dares tonight.Oh no...ex-boyfriend at twelve o-clock! Damn it! Why did Liz have to invite him?"

The song ends at that moment and I turn around quickly hoping Grant hasn't seen me yet,not that I can hide from him the whole evening but I can try and avoid him as much as possible,"Thanks for the dance Kyle." and I lead him back to Tess and Alex,"What've you two been discussing?"

Alex

"What've you two been discussing?"

I turn in pleasant surprise, not having Isabel come over but glad that she's here. Oh and Kyle's with her too.

"Well, you of course." I say with a happy grin.

Isabel

Uh oh!

"Tess I hope you been telling Alex only good things about me.I don't want him to run away screaming."

Out of the corner of my eye I spot Grant slowly making his way in our direction,stopping to talk to a few people on the way.

Oh shoot!

Alex

"Tess I hope you been telling Alex only good things about me.I don't want him to run away screaming."

"No need to worry about that." I admit with a chuckle as I put my arm around her waist hesistantly. "Wait, are you saying there are bad things to tell about you?"

Noticing that Isabel's attention is somewhere left behind me, I quickly glance in the direction she's looking, not seeing anything out of the ordinary. Since she doesn't look very happy, I guess somethign is not right.

"Hey? You seem ... worried, what's wrong?" Good, I hope I don't sound too desperate.

Isabel

"Wait, are you saying there are bad things to tell about you?" I look at Alex for a moment and smile,not really paying attention to him to come up with an answer for his question

Drawing my eyes away from Grant who had just raised his glass at me when we made eye contact,I force myself to look cheerful,"Nothing really...just...you remember asking if I had any ex-boyfriends here?Well" I nod in Grant's direction "there's one.The guy with the cranberry coloured shirt on."

Alex

For a moment, I feel all cold inside, feelings of insecurity and fear of Isabel realizing what a geek I am, are consuming me. But then I toss those emotions aside (mostly), I may not know Isabel for long but that's not something she'd do.

Besides, she doesn't seem estatic to see *Grant*. I wonder if it is because he broke up with her and she still loves him (damn insecurities, go away!) or because things ended really really bad.

"The one who's heading our way. Granted he - uh sorry, no pun intended. Anyway, he's moving rather slow but ... do you want to meet up with him? I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't want to drag you away from people you know and appear like an overjealous neanderthal but ... you don't seem to be looking forward to meet him again."

He is moving slowly for whatever reason,probably trying to see if he can intimidate me.Fool! Alex is saying something so I pay attention once more catching the last of his sentence,"...you don't seem to be looking forward to meet him again."

"You got that right.He's not really whom I want to waste my time on.I really wonder what he's doing here.Probably tagged along with someone, like the freeloader he is.I doubt Liz would have invited him even by mistake.Not after the way we broke up."

At that moment Grant decides to grace me with his presence,finally making his way over to us,"Hello Izzy...long time no see." he says in that charming drawl of his

"I wish it had been longer or never at all." I reply rudely
"Aww,come on.You still can't be mad at me Iz.Whatever happened was a long time ago and I've told you a million times that I am extremely sorry.

At that point he seems to notice Alex standing by my side,"Oh hey,I'm Grant." he says offering Alex his hand while I glare at him

I doubt Liz would have invited him even by mistake.Not after the way we broke up.

Oh, that doesn't sound that good. I so don't like the guy now. Okay, I didn't like him one minute ago either but the way Isabel said that ... hate him!

"Hello Izzy...long time no see."

And I don't like his *Oh I'm so charming* voice either. Hate him!

"I wish it had been longer or never at all."

"Aww,come on.You still can't be mad at me Iz.Whatever happened was a long time ago and I've told you a million times that I am extremely sorry.

Aha, so Isabel probably broke up with him because he behaved like an ass. He probably is one too so it shouldn't be too hard for him to act like one.

"Oh hey,I'm Grant."

I briefly nod at the guy before turning my attention back to Isabel. She seems to be ... angry. Interesting. Didn't expect that. If she doesn't want to deal with the loser, then we better head somewhere else, I guess. "You want to dance?"

Isabel

If looks could kill Grant would be dead right now,actually he would have been dead eight months ago.Alex hardly acknowledges him and I'm glad.
"You want to dance?" he asks me
"With pleasure." I reply and pull him away from Grant "Thanks for that.I didn't feel like talking to him.I might have ended up slapping him or something."
