"You're right, potions is much worse. And I am so happy I dropped divination," I reply, grinning at Harry. God, if he looks disheveled, I don't even want to know what I look like. I don't understand why we have to wake up so early. I mean, we'd definitely learn better if we could sleep, say...two or so more hours without missing breakfast.

"We can wait for Hermione," I answer, collapsing in one of the chairs in the common room. I could fall asleep again, right here, and just skip Herbology...actually, that sounds like a great idea. But Hermione would kill me, plus it would look bad for a prefect to skip class. And I don't want her on me to get my homework done on time or anything this year. Being a prefect is enough stress, what with mum being so excited that I made it. Although I'm not sure what I'm more afraid of; Hermione's wrath or being axed from prefect duty.

“Um let see? Kyle? No he doesn’t sound like a girl!” Liz says, and I grin. We've played this game since we were little, and it's always the same. She knows it's me, but I pretend that I'm surprised when she guesses. Once she get's to the guessing part and turns around, I remove my hands and smile at her.

“Hey”, she says with a hug, before sitting back down. “How was your first night being back at Hogwarts?”

"Oh, it was great. Kyle's got his own friends to annoy here," I reply with a smirk, then pull out my schedule, anxious to see Liz's. "So, Liz, what do you have first?"

Michael and I are heading down for breakfast on our first day at Hogwarts this year and I'm in an amazing mood. I don't know why exactly, I just am. Michael is grumpy, as usual, but I don't care. This is going to be a great day.

First class on the list is Herbology. That should be a lot of fun. I ended up helping Sprout with one of the 4th year classes last year. Ravenclaw. I remember how Liz's eyes would light up as she worked with the plants and learned all their secrets. It made it all seem exciting and fun. I still don't know what I want to do when I graduate, not really, but knowledge of plants is very useful in healing, which seems to be what I'm best at. A Wizard who knows his flora can go far in the world.

"And what is the point of all this again?" Michael grumbles as we reach the Great Hall.

"The point is breakfast, that's all!" I say, cheerily as we walk towards the Griffindor table. The place isn't very crowded yet, but I do see a few familiar faces at the Prefect's table. I don't stare, but I can't help but notice how amazing Liz looks today.

There are a few less welcoming faces at the Slytherin table and as I take my seat, a fight breaks out between the two new girls and a bunch of Slytherins. I stop and watch, wondering if we should interfere...

I head into breakfast, feeling sour, as usual. This time, it's because of Arianna. I'm supposed to be her guide, but when I came down to the common room, she'd already left. Sure, she already knows where to find breakfast but I'm supposed to help her. Besides, I need to find out who her parents are and why she's here. I need to talk to Snape. If anyone knows, I bet he does.

And she's really cute, too. I only hope she's one we can trust.

When I get there, I see the hall is still more than three-quarters empty, but people are coming in. I spot Arianna with her friend, Riddle, sitting together. Pansy is talking to the two girls, her usual entourage behind her.

I walk towards them so I can take over my docent duties and also tell Regan that she's not supposed to be sitting at our table if she's with Griffindor. Although, with that name, it may be that she belongs with us. A great coup if we can win her away from the Griffendors that easily.

Just as I get close, Arianna actually attacks Pansy!

I run forward and manage to grab Arianna, pulling her away. "Hey! Stop it!" I yell, directing my words to Pansy although my face is closer to Arianna's ear. "She's a guest in our house!" I like Pansy a lot, but this is outrageous!

"The point is breakfast. That's all!" max says way too cheerily. And then his eyes settle on Liz, over at the Prefects table.

I can't help but roll my eyes as he continues to look at her. "Just breakfast," I grumble sarcastically. Does he really think he's kidding me? Because he'd be wrong...he's not.

And then I notice a commotion that seems to ahve also pulled Max away from Liz, over at the Slytherin table. That new girl...Black, I guess it was, looks like she's about to rearrange Pansy's face. But I doubt that will help.

Max appears to be entertaining the idea of jumping in, why, I'll never know. I'm simply torn between cheering the new girl on, or not cheering her on becuase right now she's in Slytherin. Either way, I'm secretly cheering ehr on. A grin at the idea of Pansy getting her butt kicked crosses my lips, as I sit down and cross my arms firmly across my chest, as if to illustrate my point to max, that I'm not moving.

"You're right, potions is much worse. And I am so happy I dropped divination," he says grinning. I laugh. "Me too" I say.

"We can wait for Hermione," he says practically falling on one of the better chairs in the common room.

"Don't fall asleep there Ron" I say as I sit opposite him.
Theres a moment of silence before I make myself ask "So what do you think of Reagan?" I ask Ron.

Michael sit down, looking stubborn. Reluctantly, I join him. Afterall, we're not prefects or professors. If it were Griffindor, that might be different, but I guess we don't want to make any trouble with the Slytherins. There's enough of that going on without having to create more.

I see that Draco has started pulling the girls apart. He's Syltherin and a prefect. Yeah, we should let them handle it.

~Michael~

Max sits down to join me and I uncross my arms and lean forward slightly. He's seen things my way for once. And I doubt he'll be stepping in now that Draco has.

I scan the room, seeing who else is here. Well, there's Liz, with that bubbly, annoying friend of hers. And then tehre's the new girls and Draco. Some of the professors...

However Isabel and her eprfect little princess friend Tess aren't here. And that was strange. Isabel was usually down here pretty early. Usually with Draco and Tess. Usualy against her will. But she ahd apearances to keep. And she is family, so I do worry when she's not acting like herself. "Isabel isn't here," I note to Max.

And then I ask him,"So what do you think Professor Sprout will ahve us start with this year?" I ask Max because I know he's already looked at the book.

Liz

"Oh, it was great. Kyle's got his own friends to annoy here, So, Liz, what do you have first?" Maria said sitting down next to me. It’s funny how Kyle and Maria could be siblings. I mean they are so different in their own unique way. But I like them both no matter what they are like, I wouldn’t care if they were with green skin with two pointy ears coming from top of their heads. I would still like them.

I went into my bag to get my schedule, Maria wanted to know what my first class was, and I for one wanted to know if we have at least one class together. I took my schedule and look at it.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Herbology
History of Magic
Astronomy
Defence Against the Dark Arts

Tuesday/Thursday
Transfiguration
Potions
Charms
Muggles Studies

I look at Maria and smile, it seem like I’ll be busy this year, but nothing I can’t handle, “I got Herbology,” I said. I love learning the plants, I love how there move like some kind of animal. One time my first year, I pulled out of the ground and the baby planets, the planet animal scratch my left eye leaving it to bleed, and when it stopped bleeding, it turned blue. Maria begged me to go the school nurse, but I wouldn’t go, I actually didn’t think it a big deal. Learning can be hard, so why not have some prove of that?

I look around and saw two new girls were fighting with Pansy Parkinson. I guess Pansy said something she shouldn’t be saying. It must had to do with family or something that would hurt someone feeling. I tear my eyes and look around the room and notice Max. Max was sitting with his buddy, what was his name…..Michael, I think. I smile at Max. He is always quiet; I wonder why he doesn’t talk much. All I heard him say, when I do talk to him was a ‘hi’ and that all.

I turn my attention back to Maria, “so do have the same class, wait don’t answer that, God knows you’re good at that subjects, so why wouldn’t you be in Herbology.” I said with a smile.

I look around our table and grab a muffin, I not much of eater when it comes early in the morning, but going a long day, so I have eat something, right?

~Hermione~

I wake up before dawn. I wash and dress in my new robes. It's still early so I make my way to the libary. I grab books that interest me, several about the Dark Arts. You can never be to prepared. I count the books I have.......10 in all. I notice the rising sun and decide its time to go to breakfast.

I carry all my books back to the common room where I find Ron and Harry waiting on me. "Good Morning", I say as I make my way to the fire place dropping my books on the floor with great care. "shall we go to breakfast?"I ask looking at Harry and then to Ron.
