"Looking for someone?"
Turning around, I sigh when I see Liz standing behind me. Isabel's not with her, damnit! I hope they already talked but since Liz is smiling at me, I can't imagine that.
"Liz, thank God I found you! Please, tell me that you already saw Isabel! I need to speak to her, it's important."

I raise one eyebrow in a questioning gaze and frown a little. "No, I haven't seen her yet," I say slowly. "Is something wrong? You look a little...frazzled." I think that's a bit of an understatement. He looks upset and disappointed at my words. Whatever happened, it's not good. I sigh inwardly. Trouble in paradise already? I thought those two looked so cute and cozy together!
~KYLE~
I pull my car into the parking lot of the fairgrounds and pay the guy the $2 parking fee. Climbing out of the car, I shut the door and hit the lock button on my keyless entry. Looking at the set up of the carnival from here, it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. There's the ferriswheel and a couple of coasters, lots of booths with games, kid rides and lots of food vendors. The parking lot is already starting to fill up and it's still pretty early. Making my way to the entrance, I start when my cell phone rings. Stopping and pulling it out of my pocket, I see that it's my dad.
I sigh as I answer, "Hey, dad."
"Kyle, did you finish that job at the Kenyon's estate?" he asks in greeting. Gotta love when your father gets right down to business.
"Yeah, dad, it's all done and the paperwork was all finished. I put it in a manilla folder and placed them on your desk in your inbox. Why? Is something wrong?" I ask.
"No, nothing's wrong. I think I told you that we were promised a pretty big bonus to get the job finished before the weekend. I knew I could count on you to finish on time. You'll get a cut of the bonus of course. You at that carnival for the kids' charity?" he asks me.
I nod my head. "Yeah, I'm just getting here now. It looks to be a lot of fun. You should drop by if you get a chance. It's Saturday and you could use the break, dad."
There's a pause and he says, "I might do that. Have fun, son. I'll talk to you later." There's no goodbye, no waiting for me to answer, just a click and he's gone. We have a strange relationship since my mom left. You'd think that we'd be able to deal with it by now since she left when I was 10. Sighing, I place my cell phone back in it's holder on my hip and continue towards the entrance to the carnival.

"Is something wrong? You look a little...frazzled."
"Frazzled?" I laugh without humor. "That's good cause I'm pretty near panic. We had a huge misunderstanding which is totally my fault and now Isabel made it clear that she doesn't want to see me again."
Realizing that I'm talking to one of her best friends, I quickly add, "I swear, it is just a huge misunderstanding! I didn't do anything, well, actually it's because I didn't do something and ... you really haven't seen her? Do you know where she might be if she ain't here? At home maybe?"

I take Alex's arm gently and steer us over to a bench. Sitting down, I pat the space beside me. "Alex, sit down and breathe. If it's just a misunderstanding, I'm sure you guys can clear it up. If you tell me what happened, I might be able to help. I have known Isabel for quite a while now after all." I study him for a minute. He really cares about her...already! I'm surprised and I find it sweet at the same time. I really like Alex and I like the way Isabel's been acting over the past week plus since she met him.
I glance over at the ride where the kids I'm supposed to be watching are and Mark catches my eyes and waves to let me know everything's fine. Maybe I can talk him into watching them for the next little bit. I hate to shirk responsibility like that but I didn't have any notice about that after all. I turn back to Alex and smile encouragingly.

"That's what you say now!" I moan, taking a deep breath.
When Liz just smiles at me, I decide to tell her, she really might be able to help.
"Okay, Isabel was supposed to pick me up earlier so we could have some coffee before we come here. I was late thanks to traffic and therefor left the door open for her so she can come in, in case I was still in the shower. Anyway, when I got out of the shower, I walked into my bedroom where my ex was sitting, obviously waiting for me. Two seconds after I spotted her, Iz came in and ... if it were the other way round, I surely would have reacted the same way and ... anyway, I was standing there, two feet away from Leanna, in just my towel while Leanna was sitting on the bed, leaning towards me."
Shaking my head, I look at Liz, "I swear to God, I did not touch the woman, not even when I kicked her out, threatening to call the police next time she's in my house. Of course, Isabel thought that I cheated on her - which I didn't - and drove off. I was hoping she'd be here, meeting you girls. After all, in Sex and the City, the four women always meet up when something happens."

I frown at Alex's explanation and rub my forehead in thought for a moment. If I understood all that, he was speaking rather fast, then this could take a little explaining and time for Isabel. "Ok, ignoring the comment about Sex in the City for a moment, let me run back through that. You say that you were in the shower and left the front door open so Isabel would be able to get in when she got there. But, instead of Isabel, your ex-girlfriend was waiting for you in your room when you walked in wearing only a towel." I glance over at him to make sure I have it so far and he nods miserably. "Isabel walks in and immediately jumps to the conclusion that you and your ex did the dirty." He nods again and I sigh.
"Alex, you might have a tough time ahead of you. I know you met Grant, her ex, last night. Did she tell you what happened with him?" I ask him.

I nod at Liz's question. "Yes, she told me. He cheated on her with her ex-room mate. Listen Liz, I know I'm in a horrible situation and I don't mind if I have to beg her to listen to me I just ... I just need to know where she is. Do you think she's at home or Tess' or Maria's?"
I look at Liz hopefully, praying that she'll believe me and help me along. "I don't want to lose Isabel. Not because of this."
Not being able to sit any longer, I jump up, "You know what ... I'll... I'll just go to her place and see if she's there and if not I'll come back here. Sorry Liz but I really need to get going, this not being able to do anyhting is killing me. Have fun with Max! Bye."

I drive home in a daze, thank god the roads weren't congested and made my way upstairs, letting myself in to the my apartment to find Misty at my legs immediately, rubbing herelf against my legs.Picking her up I cuddle her,"You're the only one I can trust,I knwo you won't eve hurt me." Sitting on the couch I stare off in to space,so angry and hurt that I haven't even really felt like crying yet and I won't,not over another guy.

Slightly out of breath, I arrive at Isabel's place, knocking quickly on her door, hoping she'll open up. I can hear someone in there! Yes, she's here, thank God!
When no one opens after a minute, I shift from one foot on the other, knocking again, slightly worried that she won't open after all.
"Isabel? It's me, Alex." I call out softly, briefly glancing around if someone can see or hear me but then decide that I don't really care. "Please, let me in so we can talk."
Nothing. I'm not even surprised if I'm honest.
"Okay, you don't want to let me in, I can understand that." I say after a moment, sighing slightly. "I'll just talk through the door then. I know what you think and if it were the other way round, I'd surely think the same but nothing happened. I swear! I've spotted Leanna sitting there about two seconds before you did."
"I was late, so I left the door open for you so you could come in while I took a quick shower, when I came out of the bathroom, Leanna was sitting on my bed and two seconds later, you showed up. I swear to God, nothing happened."
Leaning against the doorframe, I slowly slide down onto the floor, resigning myself for this being a long wait.

I frown when the person knocks impatiently.Who is it now?I hope it isn't Alex because I will rip his head off,"Isabel? It's me, Alex. Please, let me in so we can talk."
NO! I am not going to let him in here. If I look at his beautiful, sincere eyes I know I will be tempted to forgive him and I am not going to do that.He cheated on me.
"Okay, you don't want to let me in, I can understand that.I'll just talk through the door then..."
Oh god...my entire building will know what going on in my love life in the next one hour! I listen to his explanation, standing near the door, one hand on it,trying to figure out whether he is telling me the truth or pulling the wool over my eyes. It's possible that that is indeed what happened.
Resting my back against the door I contemplate my next move.Do I let him in?Should I trust what he's saying?Leanna did hurt him after all so I doubt he would take her back at the drop of a hat.Unhooking the chain on the door,I open it slightly and find him sitting outside,"Hi." I say gingerly, not smiling at him but not frowning either
