“Hey again,” I grin at Isabel before starting my car and pulling out of the parking lot. I try not to sigh like the true geek I am. I really hate the weekends.

The short car ride to The Crashdown is filled with random conversation about music, films and the hottest actors in Hollywood. Normal girl chat. We don’t, however, talk about Isabel’s new interest in Alex Whitman or anything school related.

When we arrive at The Crashdown, its pretty packed with people from school. The Crashdown might not be the coolest place on the planet but its one of the only places for kids to hang out in Roswell. Actually its one of the only places that anyone in town can hang out in.

“Where do you want to sit?” I ask, looking around the Crashdown for a free booth.

Michael

After school I head over towards the Crashdown, metallica blaring in the car to ease my bad mood. I'm failing math, and Mr. Roberts says that if I don't get my grade up in bio soon I'll be failing that too.

Liz better be at the Crashdown, because her and I need to set up another study thing soon, I don't want to fail my classes. And I'll do anything to get better grades than Rath.

I park my car in the lot and turn the music off, before locking it. Then I walk into the Crashdown and am surprised to see that pretty much everyone I know is there. Liz is at a table with Zan, so I decide I won't go bother her, and Rath and Kyle are over there talking to Maria.

Weighing my options, I figure Liz won't like me if I bother her and Zan, because they look to be discussing something important. So I walk over to Maria, Kyle, and my brother, sending a wave in Liz's direction.

"Hey guys," I say once I get there.

~Liz~



While I am trying to debate whether I should actually get up and go back to work, I notice Zan looking back at me and it takes me a moment to gather my wits when he winks at me. Oh god, I can’t believe this. I turn back to look at Max, trying not to get all flustered.

"Is there anything I can do?" Max asks and I’m not sure what to say but I’m saved as he continues. "Maybe...maybe you should have some fun or something...you know...take away some stress? Perhaps I could...take you to the pictures sometime...if you want to..."

Was he just asking me out? I can’t believe I heard it. Did I just hear that? I’m about to open my mouth to accept when he ends up muttering, "Forget it...I...I'm gonna go...."
I quickly get up from the table.

"Thanks...for the burger...." He adds and leaves in a rush. What just happened here? I don’t understand. Should I go after him and tell him that I’d love to go? When would I have time?

I shake my head and stand, the confusion warring inside me as I look toward the door and then back at the table. I should have known better then to think I could have a life beyond work and school. Maybe he was just asking to be nice because I’d blurted out some of my problems and he felt pity for me.

"Hey. Sorry about my brother. I don't know what's up with him lately. How are you doing?" I hear and look up to see Zan standing there.

Oh god, could this day get anymore confusing? “Yeah, I’m fine.” I respond quietly, not wanting to make a fool of myself again. Maybe this was some sort of game they were playing. Maybe this was some cruel joke. “I should probably get back to work.” I’d noticed Alex walking out so it wasn’t as though he was there to cover my shift. “Do you need anything?” I asked Zan quietly when I realized that Alex had my order pad and I’d have to grab another one.

Why would Max ask me to got to a movie with him and then rush out of here? Why would Zan walk up and talk to me right after that? It had to be some sort of joke. This never happened. This never happened to me and I’m not sure I want to know what’s going on. I can’t help but sigh, “Alex has my order pad, so I’ll have to get another, but if you’d like to order, I can take it down.” I tell Zan, thinking that I really need to keep from letting myself get hopeful about anything now.

I glance up and see Michael wave and return it, feeling a bit better about things then I had a moment before. Maybe my best-friend would help me make some sense of what happened.

*Maria*

"I don't know about that, I've been pretty lucky with mine." Zan raves as he slides a comforting hand around my shoulder. I flash him a thankful smile as I continue trying to sing the praises of partying. Something catches Zan's eye and he excuses himself to go talk to Liz. Hmmm. The way he's looking her up and down I don't think it's school work their discussing. Though they are not lacking in chemistry by any means. They should totally hook up.

Okay, so maybe it's just the inner matchmaker in me trying to weasle it's way out ,but they would look so cute together. His bad boy persona combined with her chaste and naive reputation would throw the school into a social whirlwind. The students wouldn't know what to think, and while normally I am not one to give up the spotlight poor Liz has been through a lot. She deserves a little good publicity. Plus it would do wonders for her self esteem. Zan is quite easily one of the hottest guys in school.

I have this whole plan plotting itself inside my head when Rath speaks up and grabs my attention. His smile makes me wonder. What are those secrets that lie within his eyes? His mischievous grin tells me that he knows something I don't and his charming personality makes me really want to know what that thing is."Come on now...you don't want disappoint your charming sister now do you? Besides, you know I have your best interest at heart man, and Im sure a gathering would improve your social status" Rath steps up aiding me in my project of convincing Kyle of my one night of freedom's importance.

Leaning forward Rath whispers seductively in my ear, "Go with me here" Just his breath on my neck when he was uttering those simple and yet direct words made me want to agree to anything. Uh Oh! That's not good. I'm Maria Deluca. Ice Princess. I don't let guys get to me. There's just something about him. His mysterious nature always keeps me guessing ,and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't very attracted to his near perfect physique. Mmmm... I could definetely work with that.

My eyes roam up and discontinue romaning his body regretfully. I need t pay attention that what he's saying. "So Maria..." He starts gazing over my body in a sensual matter. Damn. I know we are supposed to be pretending ,but I don't think it's going to be that difficult for me. In fact, I culd really have fun with this. "Your feet must be tired, you've been running through my mind all day. How about you blow off...Drake? Darcy? Anyway whoever his name is and come to lovers point with me eh?"

Winking at me in that provocative matter that he has seemingly mastered he turns back to see Kyle's reaction. My Stepbrother must be shocked into silence for he speaks not a word. Deciding to take matters in my own hands, (not a bad metaphor may I add) I scoot closer to Rath and I inconspiculously put my hand on the top of his thigh. The brush of contact is innocent enough. In fact to casual viewers it would appear I was just being friendly , but the look exchanged between us says that there is so much more.

"Actually his name is Doug ,but he's expendable. I could be persuaded in changing my plans. Seeing as how Kyle thinks I should 'take it'" Biting my bottum lip in the way that drives most men crazy I whisper, "Easy." I roll my tongue over my lips as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "I guess we could have a little party of our own." Removing my hand from his leg I run it through my hair gracefully as I lean forward, "You game?" I challenge wondering if he can take it as well as he dishes it out.

Alright so here are my options A) Kyle agrees to the party. Yay! I get what I want as planned or B) There's no party ,but Rath and I get to know each other a little better... out at Lover's Point... all alone.
Either way I'm not seeing a downside.

*Zan*

"Yeah, I guess I could eat. I'll have the Will Smith burger and a soda," I tell Liz, although it's not really what I want to talk about. I want to talk about something a little less practical than that. Like... those amazing brown eyes. Yeah, she is a looker, isn't she?

"You know, Maria's parents are out of town this weekend, right? There's going to be a party here tonight, after closing. I hope you'll be able to stay and have a little fun with the gang," I say. My voice is smooth and inviting to match my words. I do hope she stays. That would be great.

I know the party isn't definate, but I don't care. If I got a couple of friends here, I know Maria and Kyle wouldn't kick me out. I know it won't be hard to convince Michael and Rath to come. Isabel might be a bit harder, but I'm sure I can work her. If not, hell, it'll be her loss.

~Kyle~

"First off, I do have a date with Doug... but if I'm not mistaken and I rarely am... He told a bunch of his footballer buddies that he was planning on taking me up to Lover's Point to...Uh... well the name is pretty self explanatory, but seeing as how I don't kick the gear shift on a first date I'll suggest we stay here. Please Kyle. Mom and Dad are gone and I've been a good girl for the past 16 years."

I almost laugh at this. Almost.

"Okay, relatively good anyway. Come on. You'll have a great time I promise. Some jamming music, lots of food, and just 20 or 30 people tops. Alright what is it gonna take to get you to agree to help me throw the biggest party of the year? What do you want? I'll do your chores for a month. Name your price. We'll negotiate."

Oh now we are getting somewhere I think to my self.

"A party sounds like a fantastic idea," Zan chips in. "You gotta go for it, Kyle. A months worth of chores is a goldmine! "With your parents out of town, you'll never get a better opportunity."

The man has a point and I don’t think I’ll be able to get anything else out of Maria anyway before she just goes ahead and does it anyway. But before I can say anything Rath says. "Well...personally I would have to go with lovely Ria on this one... but then again I do of course have to agree with Kyle as he's my best friend...” he then leans in and says something to Maria. Ok didn’t I not say no flirting in front of me?

Maria flirts with Rath then turns back to me. "So Kyle.. Are we going to do this thing or should I call Doug and put him out of his misery early?"

But do I get a chance to say yes? No! Instead Rath says. "Come on now...you don't want disappoint your charming sister now do you? Besides, you know I have your best interest at heart man, and Im sure a gathering would improve your social status"

Ok seriously can a guy get a word in edge wise? “Ok.” I go to say but I’m cut off again.

This time I don’t even bother to try and speak obviously partying or at least at the crash down is the last thing on their minds. Oh god why must they do this here?

Oh dude. Alright you two if that’s how you want to play it then so be it. Ge’ez all I wanted was my chores done for the month but hey who am I to tell my sister what to do right? So I roll my eyes and say. “Get a room you two.”

“Order up!”

Hey my orders here great! Bout time. I turn around and grab it heading out around the bar as I pass by Rath and Maria I say. “If you would have let me speak I was going to say it really didn’t matter to me if you had a party or not but since you so generously offered you can do my chores for a month.” I smile. “But when the parents call tonight to check up on us and they well you have to deal with them.”

"Hey guys," Michael says walking over to us.

“Hey man.” I say setting at one of the stools and begin to eat.
