MARIE

“Hey Marie. How are you?” Amy asks.

“Um, I’m good.” I say, feeling strangely awkward next to Amy. Although me and Amy have more in common then Lily and I do, I’ve never really spent that much time with Amy.

“Okay, I'm not going to beat around the bush here..erm...I'm going to that...party thing tonight...and this nice customer just gave me this huge tip and I really need a new outfit and we all know how I have no fashion sense....do you see where I'm going with this?” Amy rambles sounding nothing like Lily at all.

“Actually, no I don’t.” I say, staring at her blankly.

"I'll split the fifty dollars with you" Amy says quietly. I continue to stare at her blankly, still unsure what she is expecting from me. She sighs before explaining, “I want you to come shopping with me,”

“Oh no, no I can’t.” I say, shaking my head. There is nothing I hate more then shopping. Normally, my mom has to drag me around the shops kicking and screaming. “I have no fashion sense at all. The only things I know how to buy are sports bras,”

"Oh no, I can't. I have no fashion sense at all. The only things I know how to buy are sports bras,”

I sigh. Great. This is just great. Now what am I going to do?

"Oh...right" I say sitting at a booth. This is great. What on earth am I going to do? Besides which Im not meant to leave th Crashdown anyway.

"What am I going to do" I moan quietly. "This is just my luck." I sigh once more. Am I really going to have to resort to Lily? Oh God please no!

“This is just my luck,”

I follow Amy to a booth and sit across from her. “I’m really sorry. I wish that I could help but I am useless when it comes to stuff like that. Lily is lending me some clothes for tonight,”

“I really don’t have to resort to my sister’s fashion taste,” Amy says with another moan and I can understand Amy’s words. Lily has a interest fashion sense to say the least, part rock star and part something else entirely Lily.

“It could be worse,” I say, trying to look on the bright side of thing.

“It could be worse,”

I look up at her. "I don't see how" I tell her honestly. "Look can you keep a secret?" I ask. She nods at me....

I sigh. "Oliver's taking me...and well...a minute ago...when he was leaving...he kissed my cheek...and now I have nothing to wear on like the most important evening of my life" I say dramatically. I put my head in my arms.

"Oh someone shoot me now" I mutter.

“Oliver Adams?” I say in disbelief before I could stop myself. I really can’t imagine Amy and Oliver together, Amy always seems so straight-laced and Oliver is anything but straight-laced. What did Lily call him? Oh yeah, Jim Stark after the character in Rebel without A Cause. The nickname suits Oliver to perfection.

“Can’t Laura help you out?” I suggest, after all she is Amy’s best friend and more likely to be helpful.

“She’s gone,”

“I guess that leaves Lily then,” I say with a sigh more for my own fate then Amy’s. I’m dreading to see the outfit that Lily has in mind for me. There had been mention of leather pants but I can only that Lily and Christina were joking around although I very much doubt it. Christina and Lily don't joke around when it comes to getting dressed for a party. They both dress to impress.

"Oh God....what I wouldn't do for a fairy Godmother about now" I mutter. "I guess I should go speak to her...ergh..."

I had noticed that she hadn't actually said anything to the fact that Oliver had kissed me...yup...she thought I had lost it....either that or making it up....great.

I stand up to clear the booth next to us. "So where is the evil twin anyways?" I ask as I clear away the dirty plates.

“So, where is the evil twin anyways?” Amy asks.

“Outside with Christina talking to James and Tyler,” I say, a wave of annoyance flooding my body when I mention my brother. I can’t believe that he has gotten a new tattoo or the way that he was publicly flaunting it. I glance out of the window to make sure that they are still there, “And by the looks of things Oliver.”

Amy instantly looks out of the window at the mention of Oliver. Wow, she must have it bad. I guess the saying opposites attract must be true.

“Lily and Christina will be in a sec,” I state, “Christina was saying how starving she was in the jeep so it will be only a matter of time before she drags Lily away from my brother.”

“Christina, how are you getting to the party tonight? Were you planning to tag along with me or what?” Lily asked me, and at that exact moment I eyed Erik Whitman walking out of the restaurant. "I can get a ride," I said, giving her a smile and a wink as I walked over to Erik.

"Hi Erik!" I said brightly, coming up in front of him. "Are you going to the party tonight?" I asked, before he could say anything. "Um, if you are, would it be too much trouble to ask for a ride?"

Erik was always the shy, nice boy; you know, the one they have at every school. The difference with Erik was that he was also cute, and I'd had a bit of a crush on him for quite a while. I didn't think he liked me, but that was besides the point. It also didn't hurt to ask for a ride to the party, because I figured he would probably say yes.

*Erik*

On my way out the front door, I pass Marie who was entering. She quietly says hi and I do the same and give her a gentle smile. Though her brother seems a little too rebelious for me, Marie is sweet.

I start toward my car, knowing that Sabrina will be ready to leave once she gets her bookbag from her friend's van.

"Hi Erik!" Christina surprises me as she walks my way. I stop on the sidewalk and wait for her to join me. "Are you going to the party tonight?" She asks. "Um, if you are, would it be too much trouble to ask for a ride?"

My heart starts thumping in my chest and my breath stops. Christina is standing there smiling at me...asking me for a ride to the party tonight. My thoughts drift back to after school, when she's holding up the skimpy material that makes up her outfit. The air is knocked back into me at the image of her in that skimpy material.

Knowing that I'm taking too long to answer I clear my throat and return her smile. Something I learned from Mom, always have a smile ready.

"Yeah, I'm going tonight." I reach up and rub the back of my neck where nervous sweat is gathering. I've known Christina all my life but since puberty hit, she's been like a goddess...along with untouchable. I've seen the way Uncle Michael reacts when he finds out she's going on a date with a boy. I surely don't want to be the object of that anger.

"But I'm having to go earlier. I'm taking Bre, and she's gotta set up with her band before hand. If you don't mind going that early, I'm sure I can drop by and give you a lift." I offer, unsure if she'll now take it but I won't go back on my word to my sister. She didn't know it yet, but I was planning on helping her set up. Make sure it's all good before they go on.

"Oh" I answer her still staring out the window. Eventually I drag my eyes away from him and say "Well, I better get going, I have a job to do after all. Lucky me. Well at least mom and dad said I could work here rather than the UFO centre. Thats on mercy at least!" I comment as I stand up.

"Do you want anything to eat or drink Marie?" I ask.
