Chapter Eleven

Liz prayed for some miracle that a bomb had hit her house or something. Just so she could avoid his questions. Liz had no idea what he saw but it was something big. She could tell by the shimmer in his eyes and the way he acted around her. It was nerve-wracking because…she acted the same way.

However, they walked downstairs to find the entire house clean. Every spot had a shiny gloss to it, like teddy bear eyes. No empty bottles, no vomit stains and no drunken people lying around. All but a very sober Ed Harding who was standing by the front entrance.

“What are you doing here?” Liz shouted as she trudged the last leg of stairs. It hasn’t been three weeks. She had no time for her protector’s antics. Nasedo was about to reply but Liz stopped him. “He knows you’re the famous shape shifter but we don’t have time and nothing happened. Just go away and do what ever you do best.”

Nasedo had a knack for just standing there. His menacing stance and emotionless face made her sick but his eyes. His eyes were full of emotion…anger…towards her.

“I’ll like a few moments with her,” Nasdeo’s cold knife-like hands of death clamped around her arm and jerked her towards the front door.

< Stay where you are> Liz told Max.

Her eyes sought Nasdeo head on.
“So your plan failed again,” Liz smirked, her voice a tiny whisper but held a tone of victory.
Nasdeo grinned, his lips touching the arches of his white round teeth. “It wasn’t the outcome as I hoped but then again, who said I wasn’t pleased?”
Liz thought hard, scratching every depth of her brain to re-construct a string of events and only found blurred images, feelings and emotions. Not enough to piece together the events of last night.

Nasedo’s dark blue eyes fell on Max, who stood a few metres away.
“Go on, talk to him. I can’t give you the answers you seek. The answers are stored in both of you.”
Nasedo turned around and the sound of his black shoes scuffling across the tile floor, followed by a door slam filled the entire house.
Liz joined Max by the gaping archway that led to the kitchen, her hands in the air to stop him from speaking.

“Don’t ask, I have no time to explain but I don’t like having him around other people. You didn’t have to live with him for seventeen year. He might seem okay but he has hidden agendas,” Like, for example, forcing me to have sex with you, Liz added silently. Luckily that didn’t happen.
Max remained silent but his jaw was tight. He was determined for answers. What did he see exactly? Does he know?

They entered the kitchen and Liz dove into the pantry, picked up cheese crackers and dip and placed them on to table to nibble on. If she were doing something else then it would be a little easier to talk to him.
Standing behind the table Liz picked up a cheese cracker and dipped it into her sweet chilli and sour cream dip. She waited until the cracker was swimming in sour cream before stuffing it into her mouth. After chewing very slowly and the last drop of sour cream and chilli sauce was dissolved she asked. “What would you like to know?”

Max ruffled his scruffy black hair, stretching his back and shrugging at the same time. “I honestly don’t know,”
That’s a good question. “Well, lets break it down okay. I was stupid. I got drunk.” Liz looked at him for any more suggestion but he as much in the dark as she was.

“Okay” Liz breathed in, combing her fingers through her long hair. Liz abandoned the table and paced around the kitchen in though. “Were going to retrace the steps of last night.” Liz smiled, “As much as we remember,” she then held out her hands and shook them from side to side like they were dancing daises. “Touch anything that compels you to. We might get some flashes from last night which might led us to the answer to the ke-crystal,”

Max nodded. “Kay, um,” he drummed his fingers on the table. “I entered the front door and I met Michael.” Max was blank for a moment then said, his eyes widening with ideas, “The bedroom. That’s the last thing I remember. Drinking the water. No wait!” Max snapped his fingers, “ Vodka! Michael gave me that!”
“It wasn’t Michael,” Liz corrected, guiding him up the staircase. “It was Nasedo,”

They entered the cluttered mess of her bedroom once again. “You take the bed and I take the desk,” Max instructed.
Liz jumped on her bed and bounced on the soft springs, tidying up her cotton sheets, filing her fingers everywhere to find a clue.
“It’s useless,” Liz laughed to herself, picking up a pillow from the end of the bed, staring at Max with the expression of defeat. “We are not going to find—“ she gasped as she felt the onslaught of images penetrating her mind in white flashes.

Liz was hurtling through space, holding onto rough skin, she faintly saw her fingernails scratching a layer of skin underneath a right shoulder blade. Dark rough fur scratched her sweaty face as she flew through space, seeing various unknown planets. Every fiber of her being was on fire; she continued to scream as the flames spurred around her legs. Hot molten flames darkened to obsidian as two eyes bored into her while heated hands snaked through every curve of her naked body. The rough fiber of her skirt was sticking to her heated skin, embedding each button into her stomach until she cried out of frustration.

His own frustration matched hers, a primal understanding as he began to push the skirt upwards inch by inch. But she could only feel the hot wet rings around her exposed nipples, hardening with each cold gasp, Liz rasped out, moan after moan of ecstasy but only the tickle of his dark mane gave her solace as his tongue was making circles around her belly button. The hot line around her belly button grew hotter and was always circling slowly in never ending heat waves, moving down and down until a bright aqua glow emitted from underneath the bed.
Max stopped what he was doing and picked up a glowing orb from underneath her bed. The royal crest of two entwined curved lines and a dot cast shadows onto their swollen faces of rapture. “Puhlman ranch,” Liz whispered.

“ Puhlman Ranch,” Liz felt her lips moving.

“Puhlman what?” Max’s hands were braced on her shoulders in a hard lock, shaking her. Liz opened her eyes and jumped back.
“What did you see?” Max was advancing towards her and Liz quickly stumbled off the bed, her eyes darting sideways but never near the bed for she could still see outlines of their entwined half clad bodies grinding against each other.
They didn’t have sex but they were close. Dead close if it wasn’t for the orb.
“Puhlman Ranch,” Max repeated, he was looking at her as if he was seeing some familiar but Liz shook it off, crossing her arms to get rid of the feeling of his teeth making tiny bites in her skin.
“It’s where we were born Max.” Liz replied, walking out the room. “And that’s where we went last night, so you’re driving,”

__
Liz decided to bring the crystal with her. Placing it in an old black purse with worn edges she hugged it to her side, her fingers around the leather strap like an umbilical cord.

The cliff face felt oddly familiar as Max parked his jeep, turning of the grumbling engine they climbed out in sync and made the hike up the walkway in silence. Liz could hear distant sounds of eagles making war cries while the heat bored down on them as they walked, breathing harshly as the ramp became steep, Liz wondered where this will led them.

Their journey led them to a smooth rock face. Max looked back on Liz as she joined him; she knew by her strange connection to him that he was feeling scared because something compelled them to open the door. He waved his hand over a small rock bump and matched a glowing handprint with his own. The rock wall grumbled, hovering behind another wall and reveled a gaping mouth to a cave filled with limestone decor.
“I just knew,” He simply said, his face still held terror of the unknown and startled Liz by feeling his hand slid through hers as he lead her inside.
Four hollow pods greeted them like a mother and father. She knew instantly where they were. This is where they hatched. Cobwebs attacked the pods and she could still see bits of solidified membrane around the purple metallic edges.

She didn’t want to let go of his hand but to hide her agenda she pretended to rub her hands together in order to lose his touch. In any circumstance this would be a wrong move but she didn’t know where she stood with him. What were they? They were friends and yet they passed countless boundaries that lovers do. He never once in the time she was in Roswell made any advance to her as a person. Therefore Liz felt sick inside that outside forces were forcing her to someone who belonged to someone else. Breathing in the stale musty air she cough to clear the dust from her lungs.

“Something’s here, Maxwell,” Liz used the pet name her brother used. “I don’t know but we were looking for something,” Liz made small step towards the bottom left pod, hers and gently touched the outer rim of the incubation pod. Liz noticed as her head drew closer inside the pod that there was a thin blue light pulsating. So, on all fours Liz crawled through her pod.

“Follow me Max, there is something behind it!” she coughed as she kicked dust from the rock floor but continued on crawling through and already half of her body was on the other side.
Liz heard a scamper of feet and Max was on the other side, offering his hand as she pushed her legs through the small pod. Once she got up she shivered at the warm feeling that came off Max as his arms were around her. He unwrapped his tight embrace around her and turned to the black door with a stream of light behind it.

“So, how do we open this one Sherlock,” Liz joked. Although they were bathed in darkness except for the thin white light it was hard to make out where Max was but she could feel that he was near.
He must have figured out how to open the door for a loud hissing noise raged through the passage way as the door slid open to reveal a cone shaped dome with a dull humming noise that sounded like the fluorescent lights in bio lab. Light exploded behind her eyes as she touched the smooth surface of the glowing dome.

“Granilith chamber” Max stated as he led a now clad Liz into the small chamber, her pink straps fell to her shoulder and he slid it back on to her shoulder, softly whispering something in her ear that was inaudible but her expression read desire.

“Did you have another flash?” Max asked as she was pulled back from the depths of the flashback, like swimming frantically to the surface after your lungs have used all its oxygen.

“Yeah,” Liz replied after a beat, her eyes trained on the Granilith. Granilith? How did she know it was called Granilith? “So, we came here with the crystal,” Liz pulled out the crystal form the purse and closed her small hand around it.
“But what happened next?” Max asked, his eyes were this unusual color: amber with flecks of gold. She loved that color. She loved the way his hair would wisp back around his eyes, highlighting his fine chiseled features.

"Well, from what I can gather. Unless you had a flash. We got drunk and came here to find this,"Liz pointed at the dome, "And this,"Holding up the crystal.
"I pulled that from inside my pod,"Max said. "You showed me inside and I touched the front panel and pulled out the crystal,"Max was smiling in awe, "We found this--"
" Granilth chmaber,"Liz supplied.
"-----and came back to your place and passed out," Max finished. His eyes then trained on her shoudler. "Why do you keep rubbing your shoulder? another cramp?"max chuckled and turned to look at the glowing lights emitting from inside the dome.

Liz touched the smooth skin on her right shoulder, realizing that her dreams about orbs and cliffs and glowing domes was about this Granilith. Nasdeo never mentioned anything about a hidden chamber? Maybe, he doesn’t know about this. Her alien self wanted to find this chamber. Her hickeys were the byproduct of this desire to be with Max. Nasdeo said the information was stored in both their minds. If they connected again would they find more information about themselves?

It was so much easier finding out information when she was a child. Nasdeo would used to knock her out and change the room around and it was up to her to figure out which object he moved and how. Back then life was simple and unique. Liz missed those days as a child when every day was a new discovery a new day to use her powers. She remembered vaguely when she hatched from her pod. The sheer loneliness and the acid feeling of rejection to find her family had left her.
“This seems familiar,” Max sild his hand over the shiny surface of the granilith, a violet shimmer was left in its wake. He took his hand away and just stood there, flickering his golden eyes from her to around the chamber.

“Remember when we were in your room and…”
“Yeah,” Liz didn’t like where this was going, and proceeded to walk backwards, only to have max advancing closer to her until they were both slumped against the wall with only an inch separating them. He was so close, so close that Liz would only move an inch and her lips would be on his. The thought of kissing him thrilled her.

“I had this strange dream,” Max laughed. “I was a king! No. I was being crowned king and I was worried bout you and this holy war against this man….” Max rolled his eyes, chuckling to himself. “ When I’m with you, now, I want to call you Ava like in my dream…am I crazy or was this another trick of Nasdeo?”

What should she tell him? Her mind told her to say that yes, it was another trick but her heart won the battle and she knew she was sinking deep into these feelings, strong dangerous and undeniable desire. She could feel his puffs of hot air on her cheeks.
“No Max, It was real,” Liz replied, looking at him with conviction. “That was no flashback. It was a memory of your past life. You’ve lived before,”

chapter 12 A

Post by Venus_star2.com »

A/N- ita offically 3am here and I'm still awake. Its so muggy that i can't sleep so i've decided to post this next part. its a two-parter. You'll get the second one by sunday hopefully.

__

Chapter 12 A

You’ve got to be kidding me? Right? I pray to God in hopes that she’s telling a joke just to get a rise out of me. However, looking at her Max knew she wasn’t lying and that both angered him and for some strange reason, relief. He couldn’t bear to stay mad at her but he should. After all, she chose this moment to drop the bomb and say ‘by the way you have a past life’ Having the knowledge of knowing that you are a clone of someone else. Not just anyone but a king is hard enough to take in but having memory flashback about the past in present tense? His head felt light and the room around him started to bleed into his feverish skin.

Max slumped against the metallic wall and crouched in this defeated demure that Liz’s heart went out to him.
“You hate me but …”
“Why didn’t you tell me before,” That’s a good question. Then again how do you tell someone that you were genetically engineered in hopes of saving an alien race from the brink of extinction?
“Because I’m just getting used to this idea myself….and I didn’t think it was dinner conversation,”
Max huffed, “So, who was I?” Yeah, answer that!

“You were Zan Xavier Orion. King of Antar in the Golden Age. Your family was very religious and believed in fate, destiny and power of the immortals that was given to you by your ancestor.” Liz recited the information Nasedo spoon-fed her since birth. “. We were sent here in hopes of saving Antar from Kivar. A man who worships war and destruction,”

“So, who were you?” He had some vague idea. It was interesting to note that she was leaving her identity out of this conversation. Who was she exactly? He wished that these flashbacks were permanently stored in his brain. He only remembered her name, Ava. Even the name brought strong feelings. Feelings that scared him and yet he wanted to give into the sweet strong feelings until all he smelt, lived and breathe were the feelings Liz conjured up when she was with him.

“That’s hazy actually. I only know my name was Ava as that was the name Nasdeo gave me when I hatched. That’s it….” Liz meekly smiled but Max continued to stare at her, he knew she was lying.
“I…I-I was a Goddess. Well, an immortal actually,” Liz sighed. “Like those elves out of lord of the rings books. I always liked those books…”
“Liz,”

Liz turned around to look at him and her smile faulted. “Our people were forbidden to help man out of their problems. I betrayed my kind and became your confidant. I was loyal. My brother, Rath, was the prince of our kind and became your general to not only protect our kind from pending war but to protect me as well. Nasdeo only started talking about my past life when I reached puberty.”

She felt the cold moist wall burn her back slowly as she slid down to sit next to Max. “I-I didn’t tell you because I wanted to get to know you first. Who wants some stranger telling you about who you used to be? You have a new life, a very strong-l-love and I wanted to keep it that way,”
Liar, her thoughts screamed.
“Then why are we here?”

Liz knew the answer all too well, and it was getting harder and harder to lie to him. She knew that if she continued to lie that he would eventually hate her. Would it be so bad to admit the truth? Feeling the heavy waves churning in her stomach and her head heavy with lead she answered but keeping her eyes diverted to the floor.

“I was your wife in the other life. Kivar hated religion; although he worshiped the gods he believed that man should be entitled to control his or her own fate.”
She didn’t want to see his reaction playing through his amber eyes. So Liz concentrated on the sound of her quivering voice and counted how many times her body trembled at the sound of truth coming from her lips.
“I can’t remember much really. Just feelings and brief images. Back when I was told I was interested in hearing about myself. I believed that we could choose our own destiny. I spent four years rebelling and I chose to not tell you guys because I didn’t want to ruin your life over something that happened in the past.” Her breaths were harder to take in as it hurt each time air rushed through her throat. “I tell you this so you can understand that what you feel is alien, a genetically engineered endorphin in order for you to know who I was and accept me.”

__
It was dawn of a new day. Things were going quite well despite the major set back. Liz was a slave to her human side. If she only listen to her heart Nasdeo knew that it would lead her to become one with her alien self and maybe become worthy of the crown. He wasn’t going to reveal himself to the others until necessary but he hoped his plan of luring the special unit will end in Agent Pierce death and a select few that would ultimately set him back on course. Speaking of worthy of a crown she was here. Finally, at least she was worthy of his time and effort.

__
Humans are a waste of space, Serena thought. For seventeen years she had to suffer and live among the filth and uncivil creatures that called themselves humans. Walking from the crowd she stepped into the alleyway behind the Crashdown.

Her short cropped jet black hair blew in front of her almond eyes. In annoyance she lifted up her right hand and the wind stopped. Hearing a piece of broken glass shatter underneath steel capped boots She stopped.
She smiled smugly to herself. “I was beginning to think you were going to be late,” She turned and faced Nasdeo in the form of Ed Harding.
“It’s kind of hard to walk in a town where Agent pierce is after your neck. I’d expect it would be extra hard for you to keep up this human act while you're in town.”
Serena almost laughed at his words. “You wouldn’t believe.” She rubbed her hands, her voice thick with her New York accent.

___

The bright light of Dawn’s rosy-fingered arms rose from beneath the cold mountain ridges surrounding Roswell. The bright colours dissolved into the night and painted the sky with silver blue shimmer and fluffy white clouds. The sun heat warmed the earth and was the only warm bathing Liz’s skin as Max drove. Liz felt below dirt. She felt like scum, dirty even as her heart crumbled with every thump of the car running over the dents in the road.

Max’s jeep stopped next to a white mansion that had a small fountain with an ivory cherub spouting water out of its mouth in front of it. The garden was still immaculate, with lilies, white and red roses, and exquisite rare flowers. However, Liz noticed that the sun first rays hadn’t touched a small patch on her front lawn and now, the silk buds on each flower were withered and dried. Dead on the ground; no body loved them enough to water them. That’s what Liz felt like right now.
“I need time to think,” He said. No warm smile, no spark in his golden eyes. I’ve sucked his soul out of him, Liz realised. I’ve done the thing I didn’t want to do. Ruin his life and take away his innocence.

Max dropped her off, drove off without looking back. Only a dust trail whipped around Liz like a mother holding her son in an embrace. The taste of dirt caked inside her mouth and burned her eyes. Liz was left alone with broken visions of last night and a troubled mind. Her feelings were haywire, fluttering around like butterflies against her skin.
Opening the door she touched the crystal and felt a surge of power run through her.

Granilith….

She got Goosebumps every time she remembered the word Granilith. She wanted to talk to Kyle but he didn’t know anything about her alien side, and he didn’t know Max was an alien. She got the distinct feeling that Kyle didn’t like Max, and it had to do with Tess Hart.

It was around lunchtime when Liz was rouse from her tiresome sleep by a knife gutting her stomach. Seconds later Liz realised it was Max. He had this feeling of fear that now was inside her like a knife. Something happened to Max and the others. Ever since Liz met them she felt this innate bond between them that sometimes she felt what they felt. Currently, they were afraid and angry. Liz didn’t want to find out why because she had this ink feeling it had to do with last night.
Liz tightened the black jacket she had on as she trudged through her living room. Hoping the Crashdown wasn’t closed on Sunday’s. She felt like some Saturn fries and MIB burger before heading back to practice her powers. Despite the fact she hated being different Liz needed these powers in order to survive.

There was one other thing that nagged her. Liz forgot to mention to Max while in the pod chamber. Before they discovered they got drunk and found a hidden chamber containing a powerful entity called the granilith-went home and passed out Liz never told Max about the other set of pods in New York. They called themselves the dupes. The other set of the royals that were created only to be called defective. Too much alien genes in their hybrid bodies that they had little human personality in order to survive on Earth.

However, they were sent on insurance in case one of the royals died from the Roswell pods and they would step in.
That was the reason why Nasdeo went to L.A when she was barely sixteen. She met Kal Langley, the shape shifter who abandoned his subjects to live as humanly as possible. Nasdeo left her there with Kal while he went in search of the others. At this time she had no idea why her protector would search for these alien beasts. This was when Liz thought the world of her protector.

This delusion quickly faded when Nasdeo returned with her duplicate, called Serena. They were completely opposites. While Liz enjoyed her life as a human and thrived on making friends with humans Serena hated humans and called them vermin. Serena had no humanity in her. She had short-cropped jet black hair while Liz had long brown hair. Nasdeo wanted Serena to be the Queen of Antar. Not Liz. Nasdeo said that Liz was not worthy of the king. However, Liz remembered that when a purple light enveloped her with five golden stairs hovered above her head Kal said she had the seal of the Queen and Serena could never take her place. Serena hated Liz ever since. Serena craved the throne, unlike Max’s counterpart Zan. Liz never met him but apparently he had no desire to be King just as Liz had no desire for Queen.

“Zan and Liz are perfect for each other. They’re both useless,” Serena spat. Those words still haunt her.

Afterwards Liz regularly met with Kal before meeting Jake. Liz hoped she would never have to face Serena or any of the other dupes ever again. If the dupes came to Roswell they would ruin everything Liz worked hard to protect. They would also ruin Alex, Maria and Kyle’s life forever.
That would never happened, Liz coached herself. Not if I stop it.Liz’s thoughts evaporated when she found Max standing in front of her piano a few feet from her.

He seemed different but Liz couldn’t put her hand on it. Pushing her feelings aside Liz stopped in front of him and said.
“You know you have a lot of nerve Max.” Liz felt her anger rising as her face boiled red. Here he was, after hours of avoiding her at all cost only to stand here with a stupid grin on his face? All of a sudden she felt his hands cup her face like a porcelain vase and his lips covered hers in a passionate embrace. Liz swallowed her moan and forgot everything, wrapping her arms around his neck, turning her face for him to get a better angle.

He smelt refreshing. It was hard to describe but it was so toxicating that Liz breathed in hard though her nose to have that smell saturated her inside.

The images she received from Max however were not heavenly like last time.
She pulled back, as if her throat tasted sour lemons and she quivered at the sight of him. No longer the face of Max but a Max with black spiked dreadlocks, a goatee and a set of silver pieces on his eyebrow, lower lip, tongue and ears.
“Well Princess what do we have here,” He chuckled.

It wasn’t Max. It was his counter-part, Zan.

Chapter 12 B
Crash!

Zan’s back made contact with the wall and he slid down like a spider while the small patch of wall he crashed into crumbled like stale biscuits around him.
“What the HELL ARE YOU doing here?” Liz flexed her right hand and gave him another boost of her anger. He was sent flying across the room, crashing into the lounge chair, and tumbled over and landed flat on his back.

“Geez, girl you’ve got some power,” He laughed, getting up, dusting a few crumbs off his shoulders, “Kal sent me,” He smirked. “Well…”He said, shrugging, “ I just hopped on a bus and came here with a mission.” He pointed at her. “To make you Queen,” he waved his arms open wide and mouthed the word ‘wow’.
“But I am Queen?” Am I? Liz wondered? Wasn’t she created out of the Queen’s essence?

“Yeah, but you have to sleep with Max to make it official,” Zan walked towards her, but slowly as if he was ready for a counter-attack. Liz slowly dropped her hand, she sensed from the dark bottle green aura he showed no grey specks of lies, or deceit “ Cos you are titled ‘queen’ because you are expected to be the man’s queen’s-in-arms but the man might choose the blonde beauty instead of you ……youngn’wild temptress”
Liz arched her eyebrow at him, “That doesn’t make any sense?” it didn’t. Now that she had a better look at him she knew that he must have blocked his presence from her or maybe she was blind because beforehand he looked and sounded like Max.

No trace of that accent at all. However, despite the same physicality that it where there similarities between them ended, however, Liz didn’t want him around to discover just what those differences were. For some unknown reason she felt this strong attraction to him, like he was holding a magnet and by this force she was compelled to him. She shushed it away. You thought he was Max, and it was just out of lust.

You know the kind. The kind of feeling in which you want to feel something with someone but don’t want to know him or her afterwards?

This one nightstand feeling made her sick inside. Liz crossed her arms over her quivering stomach and met his travelling gaze head on.
“Keep it above shoulder or you’ll lose something,” Liz warned him when she caught him looking at her chest. Liz then noticed a strange pendant around his neck. In-between his many silver chains and thin chains was a necklace made of bronze. Its copper wiring with two bronze loops made up the chain which connected the chain of trinkets and a circle pendant in the middle with a blood and orange crystal dangling on a thin chain underneath that round sun circle with the orb symbol engrave on a similar blood diamond shape.

“Like it?” Zan asked, fiddling the necklace in awe, “Its from home,” he then shook out of his own daze and said, “I’m gonna help you with your powers.”
“I’m quite fine with my powers,” Liz defended herself; waving her hand to the side the piano erupted in fire. Its hot flames flushed against her face and she could feel the heat coming closer.
Zan diffused the fire, along with its intensifying heat “Yeah, right. I’m here to make sure you don’t get any sun-spots.”
“Sun-spots?” Liz quizzed.

“Serena said that its happens when we don’t embrace our alien side completely. You are blocking who you are and therefore it affects your powers. It gets to the point when your human side shuts down and your alien side takes over. Once, back when I was fourteen I got angry at Rath for fingering my sister that I blacked out. I was told, later on that I nearly killed Rath…well…my alien side did. I sometimes get echoes-“
“Echoes?”

“Flashbacks, images of what happened…”
“So. Why…” Liz was a sceptical, sunspot? Nasdeo had never mentioned anything about sunspots. Sure, she had a few black outs after sustaining her powers but that’s because she never practiced because…she hated herself. That dark side of her that was angry, primal and alien from anyone else.

“If you are going to save Antar we can’t afford to have you black out just as Kivar attacks….”

Liz thought of those many life and death situations when she had to escape but couldn’t tap into her powers. If Kal said that he was sent then she had to trust Zan for now. She could call Kal later but for now. She needed to get out of here, away from Zan and away from these sick feelings.
“Stay here but don’t be seen by anybody. I’ll come back later...I need to think…”
_

Chapter 13 NC-17

Main Street. A main strip that was the centre of Roswell. It was night. Liz never returned home. Instead, Liz spent the day at the granilith chamber, rubbing her hands across its cool smooth surface as if in a trance. She couldn’t push these feelings aside. Emotions, Pah! If there was one thing she hated about being human it was emotions…emotions. Feelings get in the way of what you have to do.

Her love for Max pushed her to lie about his destiny in hopes of being accepted and pleasing others. It drove her to kiss him and betraying his girlfriend by nearly sleeping with him, and now, telling the truth about his destiny and who she was. His wife. Logical thoughts told her that she shouldn’t be feeling like this. In fact, she told the truth. She should be happy but this nagging fear of rejection and the thought of Max not looking at her in that certain way that was reserved for her drove insane. Those smouldering amber eyes that melted to molten golden when she was near. Liz loved the way she could speak with someone who felt the same way. Who understood that hardship of living in a world where you have to pretend you’re normal.

Love. It’s not easy but complicated. Her feelings for Max must have triggered her feelings for Zan; something in her alien brain must have thought that Zan was some kind of booty call.
Shut up, Liz told herself, walking down the dark alleys of Roswell side streets. It was hot in the morning so Liz opted to way a pair of jeans and a brown thin-strapped bikini top. Her brown think strapped bra was peaking past her other thin strap so she pulled it under just as the cool breeze filtered through her sweaty body. Wiping the beads of sweat off her face Liz saw the Crashdown neon lights in sight. It was around teatime and her stomach groaned with hunger.

Liz was too busy sorting out her feelings she didn’t register Michael’s death grip on her right arm as he yanked her onto the pavement.
“Where is he?”
Liz didn’t need confirmation to know her brother was pissed, she could feel his power sizzle underneath his tight grip that one more shove Liz knew he could kill her.
“I don’t know,” Liz said, was this all about her confession to Max. Was Max so upset that he sent Michael to kill Nasdeo for payback?
“I think you do.” Michael seethed back. “He’s taken Tess and who knows what he’s up to. But you do. So tell us,”

“She’s not one of us Michael, Why would Nasdeo want her?” just as the word left her mouth it clicked. Pierce. Nasdeo wants Pierce and he’s using Tess to trap him and kill him, along with Tess.
“You’re not apart of this group, despite that fact you are my sister I already have a family. Now, you’re gonna help us find him or its gonna get ugly,” He shoved her into the jeep and she winced as her pelvic bone hip smashed into the jeep’s review mirror bar. Ignoring the pain sizzling up her body she jumped in.

Max was looking at her; his face was frozen in determination and his jaw locked.
As Isabel and Michael were squabbling in the back Liz felt Max hand slid over hand and giving it a soft squeeze. He then pretending to reach for some gum in the glove compartment but rested his hand on her bruise hip and healed it. She felt his love pour out to her. Liz looked over at him in shock, her face burning hot and tears steaming down her face.

< I love you>

His voice whispered with conviction inside her mind but he face never gave way his feelings she felt through her bond with him.
His hand left her and rested on the wheel as he sped off into the desert.
__

“Why would Nasdeo take Tess” Isabel screeched from the back seat.
Good question, Max thought, however, he often found himself stealing glancing over at Liz. God she was beautiful. He knew it was the wrong time to be feeling this but ever since she entered his life he felt himself become whole.

Tess Hart was someone who he thought he could love. Which sounded so mean when you think about it. Truth was, he only healed her over an infatuation.
Maria Deluca was the first human to know about them. Max and Michael were thirteen and Isabel was changing her hair colour in the bathroom and was caught by Maria. Long story short, Maria freaked. But Maria being Maria soon came around and became a good friend. She also happened to be friends with the most popular girl of the school. Roswell’s It girl Tess Julliard Hart.

Max always lusted over her. Who wouldn’t? with that body and those set of curls he could lose himself in them. It wasn’t until September when she was shot that Maria begged Max to save her. At that time Tess was dating Kyle Valenti. A week after she broke up with him and they, eventually after six months started dating. At that time Max thought that he could date her. What changed? He met her and he lost the illusion of an intelligent and beautiful vixen.

She was a self-centred emotionless cold-hearted bitch but kept the secret because he found out she always wanted him. Max thought that he could grow to love her because she was someone he did care about as a close friend and she knew everything about him.

He was wrong about that when he met Liz Harding. Liz was shy but she had this hidden strength that could move mountains and not to mention selflessness when she didn’t want to confess that he was destined to be her king and husband. At first max was angry that someone so beautiful and attractive like Liz would withhold such information. But later on when he told Michael he said he already knew about Liz and who she was but dind't explain why but Max wans't in the mood for details becasue Michael was quite happy for Max to be with his sister but they mutually agreed that Michael was better off being with Maria than with Isabel and vice versa with Alex. Max was going to break it off with Tess but all hell went loose when Maria told him that she earlier seen him pick Tess up.

Michael lost it. And seeing the way he threw his sister against the car he hoped Liz would understand that Michael is afraid of something bad happening to either Tess or Alex, especially Maria.
He hoped that when this was over he could spend some time with Liz and exactly show how much he cared. He’s cheeks blushed and a rush of lust fell over him, he looked over at Liz again and she was beside herself. He could feel her in their connection that she was overjoyed, upset and this undeniable feeling of love towards him.

< I love you…> Her sweet voice made him smile. Her eyes darted from him to the road and to the back seta. Isabel was off in her own world while Michael was on the phone to Maria.

< I didn’t know if I said it earlier but I love you> Her lips turned into a small grin before darting her eyes back to the open road.
What he felt for Liz was like fireworks-not endorphin induced attraction. This general pull towards each other he could chalk to innate instinct to stick together but this feeling he felt for Liz was genuine. So quick, so fast and yet so right. He felt different, better with Liz. She never wanted to change him or force him to watch chic flicks and paint his toenails red. No longer would he just be content with this feeling of this is as good as it gets. Liz was his new salvation.

But first he had to save Tess. Despite not being completely head over heals in love with her he stilled fiercely cared about her and cared about her safety. Nasdeo was an alien, a shape shifter. He had no human feelings inside him.

And this could be a problem.
<Liz do you know where Tess is? At all? > He asked, her face was concealed by dark. Max couldn’t steal any more looks of her face as he drove down towards the carnival.
“Nasdeo is trying to kill Agent Pierce, he’s a certified alien hunter, and I think the carnival is the best option. Highly crowded.” She said out loud. Liz’s face paled a bit and her warm aurora dimmed. Max didn’t need to push for further explanations. Liz has lived with that thing all her life. He trusted her judgement.

Not anymore, Max promised. After this mess he would try and talk her into staying at his place or at Maria’s for a while or even at Michael’s apartment…but at a close distance where he could be nearby so at anytime she needed him he would be there for her. No one so beautiful, so human and knightly deserves to be alone.
“Tolposky was right!” Michael yelled from the back seat.
“Whose tolposky?”

“A woman who warned us about the special unit at the same time you arrived in Roswell.” Max supplied.
As they got close to the carnival to see the red trails of fiery lights and the smell of gunpowder from fireworks a bright blue beam shot into the sky like a rocket and projected an shimmering silver solar image of a symbol only he and the other new: The orb symbol and it was in the heart of the carnival.

Found you, Max thought.
__
“Max you can’t go in there! Pierce is in there. Who knows what he can do to you,”
“Michael, shut up, Tess is in there and if I remember correctly that she was your so called family. Family protects family. Regardless of the consequences. Got that?” Liz piped up, although, she secretly agreed with Michael of the Pierce level. It was dangerous. She was still hurt from her brother’s remark but Max wanted to protect Tess from Nasdeo and Liz couldn’t agree more. She knew what it was like.

Michael bit his lower lip in frustration and made a low growl before jumping out the jump with Isabel, Liz and Max followed suit.
“I say we go in teams. You and Michael and me and Max. We scope around to find any signs of Tess and or Nasdeo,” Liz waved her hands in the air and shared a secret smile. “Use your hands to get flashes and follow any hunch but be on your guard too. I can only mind warp Max at certain times because…he’s the target but I don’t want to cloak all of you,” her head felt woozy all of a sudden and she felt Max’s arms steady her by the shoulders.

Isabel noticed the exchange and glared at her brother, while Michael smirked. “I’m cool.” Michael arched his eyebrows at her and she pocked her tongue out. Back to the sisterly and brother antics. There were no words to verbalise an apology. Just Michael smiling at her was enough…for now.

“If anything happens…meet by the Jeep,”
And then there were alone. Not the best time to be thinking of attacking him with kisses so she used all her unspent energy on sneaking around each stall with Max in tow, his hand gripped onto hers and sometimes she allowed him to lead, her king, her future husband. Despite the situation this has to be the happiest moment in her life.

They were behind the ring toss stall the faced the small Merry-go-round and the mirror maze. Liz’s nose cringed at the smell of sweaty animals and body odour mixed in with the stale smell of hay. But as she leaned into the back of Max’s leather jacket and breathed in his scent she was aroused. The smell was replaced by an intoxicating and addictive rainforest.

He turned around, his belt buckle pocking into her belt loops on her faded jeans. He was inches from her face as she could feel his ragged puffs of air fan her face, sending heat down her belly, adding fuel to her already throbbing lions.

“Max….”Liz couldn’t even make out the words she needed to say. All she wanted now was Max. Everything else faded into the background. Heat made her skin sizzle, boil and buzz with energy she didn’t know she had. Max pulled her behind the red and white striped tent that stood next to them.

Through the dim light from the outside she could make out a small bed and a wooden table with boxes on top and a ice cooler filled with unopened beer and spirits. Max pulled her towards the bed and whirled her around to face him. There was no thirty-second wait or long stare gazing moment; his lips were already on hers, his tongue melting with hers. Liz sucked in air and wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers curling around locks of black hair on the nape of his neck as he pulled their body down to lie upon the make-shift bed.

He leaned back just a bit and traced circle against my bare stomach, he used his powers to ride up my shirt up….up….up. He did things to me that made me feel like I was riding a long hard and hot throbbing pole. Liz’s eyes fluttered shut and allowed him to take over while she enjoyed the feel of his hands on her. Her fingers touched the cooler and her hands tingled at its cool surface.

When Liz opened her eyes again, she was on longer herself and neither was she underneath Max inside the Tent. She was a middle-aged woman, carrying a cooler to the staff tent, which max and Liz were occupying. The field of vision focused around the merry go round and the woman so a teen with blonde curly locks dashed from the merry- go- round. She was wearing a green low cut top, blue jeans and jacket. The woman shook her head in shame. Then Liz saw what the woman saw; Max Evans wearing the same black jacket and jeans, running after a frightened Tess into the mirror maze.

Liz then found herself, still touching the water cooler, she jerked her hand back and droplets of cold water splashed onto Max’s face.
“What,” He mumbled.
Liz dropped her shirt and slapped herself hard. The harsh string brought her out of this heated gaze. How could they…stupid hormones.
“I saw Tess, Max” Liz breathed. “When I touched the cooler I saw what the lady saw when she brought it in and she saw Tess and Nasdeo as you run into the mirror maze,”
“Did you have a vision while I…”Max seemed to be disgusted with himself. Liz reassured him by kissing him quickly on the lips. “Yeah but I was enjoying it but this isn’t the time nor the place,”
Quickly they sneaked out of the tent, leaving no trace of what happened before except their glowing faces.
Max saw the mirror maze in sight. He turned to Liz and kissed her, this time it was slow and brought up that lustful heat she was feeling before. Liz wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his chest while he kissed her forehead.
“Go,” Liz then gave him a quick shove, feeling the absence of his warm body. “Save Tess,”

“Go back to the jeep,” he replied.
Liz waited until he was inside the mirror maze before heading back to the jeep. She kept her head down and looped through the maze of the carnival stalls and the crowds of people. Once she was at the jeep she waited for a while. She then saw Michael and Isabel walking to the jeep seconds after she arrived.

“Did you find her?” Michael asked.
“Yeah,” Liz said, leaning against the jeep. “I had a flash of her whereabouts and now Max is going in to get her,”
It was when Liz saw a distraught Tess running towards them Liz knew something was wrong. Where was Max?

“They got Max,” Tess was babbling, chocking out wretched sobs so loudly that Michael quickly hugged her, trying to soothe her trembling body.
“Who’s got…” Then Liz realised. The FBI had Max.
No, no way. no no no no no no no no no no NO

Liz closed her eyes and focused on finding Max’s presence, hoping their connection allowed them to sense each other. He was still behind the mirror maze.

Liz took off, leaving Isabel and the others behind. She could still save Max from the FBI. She would use her powers to liquefy their brains and bring Max to safety. Liz would do anything to prevent Max being captured by the monsters that have hunted her since birth.

Liz leaped over crate boxes and found herself by the mirror maze.
< Stay calm Max. I’m coming to get you okay, > Liz could feel his fear. He was afraid, but he was still fighting against his captors.
<Keep fighting max> Liz urged him; she closed her eyes and focused on Max’s presence. She felt three other people with him and tried to pinpoint their brains.

But before Liz could do anything, a hard baseball bat hit her hard on the head and Liz could feel her brain moving as Liz saw a clown with red fuzzy hair and black make up, holding a bat.
“Silly Ava,” The clown voice was high pitched and full of helium. He laughed like an evil chipmunk.

The sounds around her became slower and inaudible and she was losing Max’s presence fast.

< NOOOOO> Liz screamed, clutching thin air as she tried to hold onto his presence. He was being taken away and Nasdeo let that happened.
“Nasdeo,” Iz whispered before her eyes rolled up and she couldn't remember anything that happened next.

A wave of cold water trickled down Liz’s face. The coldness of the water were like icicles, freezing a layer of frost over her skin and was a rude awakening as Liz groggily awoke from her slumber. Grunting out of the pain that Nasdeo had inflicted on her Liz placed her hand in front of her face before opening her eyes, peering through the space between her fingers to find Nasdeo in the form of Ed Harding, crouching over her with a glowing silver hand. The silver light paled over her wet face as droplets of water seeped into the dry curves of her parched lips.

“You son of a bitch,” Liz rasped out when she managed to find her voice, she spat at him and watched as he just stood there while her spit dribbled off his square chin. Ed’s face heated up and he shoved his right hand against her shoulder, clamping his fingers inside the hollow part of her shoulder and his hand started to burn.

The pain was unbearable; endless waves of napalm fires burning into her skin, almost licking a layer off the bone. She could smell her own flesh burn as white smoke sizzled around the edges of Nasedo’s hand.
Through clenched teeth Liz breathed against the onslaught. She would not appear weak in front of Nasdeo.

“You are their protector, Nasedo… Wala onya Max iko?” Liz spat out any swear word she could think of. Both human and Antarian.
“Every good leader is built on pain, like a phoenix rising from the ashes he too must become a leader in order to understand what the enemy would do to him.”

“So, you’re saying that this was all a set up so Max could be tortured and become King?”
“Well…it turned out that way Ava….”
“The name is Liz,”
“Yes…. I guess it will be from now on…” Ed stood up and looked down at her.

What did that mean?

“Now its up to you to unite your unit and save your husband,” Ed tossed her a deep purple zip sweater jacket and left her all alone, like he always did and make her way back to the jeep.

It was already morning. Eight am judging by the heat rays burning her back and heating up her flapping brown hair that occasionally billowed in front of her face.

Why do I have to drive, Liz complained to herself. However, as she looked upon a broken Tess and Isabel Liz knew that she was the only one to drive because in theory, Max’s capture had no affect on her. She could hear Tess cries at the back of the jeep, her high-pitched squeals matched the sobbing racket from Isabel. They screamed out together they played crying tennis, each one of them serving a much louder and ear piercing scream. She could feel their pain in her stomach and Liz wanted to cry out of pain too.

Liz wanted to curl into a ball and cry like Tess but she had to remain strong for her unit. Out of all of them Liz could feel Max. She could feel his fear, pain and anguish. Liz sent a wave of love to him. She couldn’t speak with him, as she was still raw from her brawl with Nasdeo. When she managed to get to the Jeep Michael was already waiting for her but he never said anything. Liz knew that he assumed that she tried to free Max, and she tried and would have succeeded if not for Nasdeo.
“Drive to the Crashdown,” Michael called from the back seat as Liz turned into Main Street.

“My house is better,” Liz replied. “I don’t have any loving or caring parents to come in suddenly and discover I’m an alien,” her voice came out bitter than she planned but Michael didn’t come back with a reply but grunted in agreement.

Pulling up her own driveway Liz parked the jeep and left Michael to carry both Isabel and Tess into the house. Leaving Liz enough time to deal with Zan. He wasn’t in the kitchen or the lounge room, so, Liz hiked up stairs and headed to her bedroom to find Zan, shirtless and reading her diary.

Liz couldn’t scream or make any loud noises that could attract attention to the others and force them upstairs.

She couldn’t help but drool at the sight of him. His rippled abs and silver rings on his nipples. She saw some symbols on his chest that she recognised as honour, duty and love but didn’t want to dwell on that for long as she could feel the fire burn inside of her.
“You know some things are supposed to be private.” Liz said, making eye contact with Zan. His amber eyes were different from Max’s; they were almost…. golden.

Max, Liz thought and she shivered. Max is captured and is living your worst nightmare. She has to keep it together.
“Well…your Mavaneise is a little sloppy.” He huffed and tossed the book to the floor, the soft thud jolted Liz awake.
“Well I didn’t want to learn the native tongue in the first place.” Liz replied back, glancing back at the door and at Zan. “Look, stay in here and do that thing you did before.”
“You mean cloak my presence?” Zan mocked, arching his eyebrows at her.
“Yeah, until I come back up here okay,” Liz turned around and she could hear the springs squeak on her bed and him stand up behind her.
“What’s happened?” his tone was serious, almost like the sound of a general.

“Max has been captured by the FBI,” Liz replied, for the first time she allowed a soft hiccup to erupt from her throat. Liz turned and found herself tilting her head upwards and gazing up at Zan with his dark dreadlocks and pierced eyebrows. She saw something flicker in his eyes, compassion perhaps? But all her feelings towards Zan were vague, unlike Max. Liz knew one hundred percent that she loved him.
“Get his sister to dream walk him,” He suggested. He seemed so assured by his simple solution to her problem that she became aggravated by his answer. Liz had so many people depending on her and his only solution sounded like he was giving her driving lessons like just turn left!
“Isabel can do what now?” Liz asked. She knew that Max could heal and Michael can move objects but Isabel? Who knows?
“Lonnie, Isabel’s dupe, can see into people’s mind when they’re asleep. So, logically Isabel can too.” Zan sighed and scratched his eyebrow in frustration.
“You’ll figure something out but if you stay here any longer they’ll get suspicious.”

Liz agreed with him on that note she turned around once again and her jacket that Nasedo tossed to her slipped over her shoulder and Zan let out a low hiss.
“How did you-“ He whirled her around and Liz winced when his fingers touched her cracked skin. His eyes seemed to glow with fury. “Nasdeo,” He spat.
Liz softly laughed. “Hey, it happens all the time,” She heard a loud zipper noise and felt his hands trail down her chest, unzipping her jacket and allowing it to fall down in a heap around her feet. The gesture felt highly erotic and her breath hitched in her throat when she saw his eyes darken as he traced circles around her chest.

Liz could feel something snap inside her, like seeping into a painfully nice bath. Liz shivered at his touch when he pulled her straps down her right shoulder, moving her dark curtain of hair to the shoulder he inspected the burn closely as dry scabs had already begun around the base of the burn. Zan placed his left hand, already glowing a dull blue light over Nasedo’s handprint on her right shoulder, Liz watched as her skin was repaired and felt her skin bubble underneath his touch until it felt silky smooth. She looked down at her right shoulder, now unscratched and whole.

“Thanks,” Liz whispered and looked up at him. It felt weird that during that whole healing there was no connection opened up between them. Why? Liz wondered but didn’t want to press it. Maybe he too, was confused about this attraction she felt towards him. Zan was here to prevent Serena from becoming Queen but Liz got the feeling that he had feelings for Serena. So, by helping her he was betraying someone he cared about. That took a lot of guts, Liz realised.
Liz slipped him a small smile. “When this is over you better be ready cos I’m a fast learner,”

Her remark received an equal smile from him as he sat back down and stretched himself on her bed, lazily smiling he said. “Noted,” his eyes settle on her and then added. “But then again, your powers are already strong. You just have to believe in yourself and you can do…just about anything,”

Chapter 14

Post by Venus_star2.com »

Liz saw Maria and Alex huddled around Tess as Liz got to the foot of the stairs and into the kitchen.

Michael must have called them, Liz thought.

“We… haf….ve tt…o goo…. to Valenti,” Tess was saying in between sobs. Alex had her in a bear hug and her tears were soaking his shirt. Valenti, Liz thought. Kyle knew she was an alien but he didn’t know about Max or Isabel or Michael, and the thought of the Sheriff knowing. Liz inwardly shivered. Liz didn’t know him well enough but she had no time to allow other people in on their secret. Liz had to figure out a game plan before the FBI starts its tests on Max.

“Yeah, he has resources,” Maria was agreeing with Tess’s statement. “He can send out an APB…”
“There is no need to involve others. We have no time,” Liz said and watched as they all turned their gazes and fixed them upon her.
“But how are we going to find Max?” Alex said, stating the obvious.
“He’s okay for now,” Liz replied. She knew that, she could feel Max. He was afraid but no mind-numbing pain, which was good for now.

“How do you know that he’s okay?” Tess began, advancing slowly towards her, almost hawk like which unnerved Liz. “ You don’t know him like I do. He needs me” Tess whispered, pointing to herself, “He needs his family. Who are you to come in here and start making decisions for this group huh?” Tess was screaming at her, her salvia drooling around her lips, as her eyes were bloodshot from crying.

Who was she to Max? She was his wife, his soul mate, and his salvation.

Though, Liz had no time to start fighting with Tess as much as she wanted to do, right now, punch Tess’s lights out, she had to talk to Isabel.
“We have much stronger resources than any other human in this world,” Liz replied but couldn’t help but adding a tone of smugness to it. Crossing her arms Liz turned to Isabel who was by Michael’s side. She was sitting on a bar stool with her face in Michael’s shirt. Liz felt a twinge of familiarity as Isabel was Michael’s destined mate but knew far well that this hug was purely platonic. Michael was like a second brother to Isabel and nothing more.

“I know what I can do,” Liz said. “But from what I’ve been told…you can dream walk, communicate with their subconscious?” Liz was stretching for ideas here. Liz knew that her bond with Max was strong and could easily pinpoint his location but she wanted Isabel to do it. So, Isabel felt like she was helping her brother.

“Yeah,” Isabel replied. “But I’ve never done it when people were conscious before,”
“Look at me,” Liz stared into the frighten eyes of Isabel. For the first time she saw an image of herself in Isabel. Liz understood that same fear. She had lived with the same fear of being tortured all her life. “You can do this,”

Isabel nodded slightly and pulled out a small photo of her brother, Michael and herself from her wallet. The loud screeching of the chair moving against the tile floor filled the silence as Isabel hopped off with the assistance of Michael. Liz escorted them to the lounge room and Isabel sat down and rested her head on Alex’s lap, who sat with her as she fell asleep. Maria and Tess were standing around, waiting for Isabel to wake up. Meanwhile Michael just stood with his arms crossed. Looking on as Isabel was asleep and hopefully connecting with Max.
“Where’s Nasdeo?” Tess spat. Liz knew Tess hated her. The feeling was mutual.

“I don’t know, he’s never left me alone like this before,” Liz lied. Truth was, she didn’t want to delve into the inner workings of Nasdeo. Liz knew Tess had been captured and who knows what Nasdeo said or did to her. Whatever happened it wouldn’t compare to the mind games Nasdeo played with her.

A loud gasp from Isabel was all it took to break the spell of discomfort that everyone felt in the room. Liz saw Isabel groggily sit up but her eyes were shedding tears. “I couldn’t connect with him. He’s blocking me,” He never blocks me, Liz heard Isabel say silently.
Damn, Liz thought. Time for plan B. “Do it again.” Liz instructed. Liz sat down on the opposite sofa, facing them. “I’ll try too. Two heads are better than one,”
Once Liz saw Isabel close her eyes Liz closed hers and blocked everything out but the sound of her own breathing. Once she managed to slow down her breathing Liz reached out to find Max.

As soon as Liz opened her eyes she found herself huddled in a corner of a grey tiled room. Astral projection, Liz wondered. She did it once in a while but Liz didn’t think it was her own will but the pull of her conscious into Max’s.
<Max………..> Liz called out, groggily standing up. Her body felt so heavy, like lead. It seemed forever when she began to pace around the room. She felt a mental knock into her mind, and then followed Max’s voice.
<Liz? > He sounded so scared, so lost and Liz could feel his helplessness that he couldn’t do anything. Liz whirled around found him huddled in the opposite corner, in a human ball, and he was crying. Liz dove and her knees skidded but Liz gritted her teeth and clashed into Max’s cold skin. He was so cold that the touch of her skin burned him as well hers. Liz hissed as she sat down beside him.

The ground was cold and so was he. His lips were blue and even his big hands were as white and pale as snow. He turned to her, his breathing harsh and tears coated his eyes and sunken cheeks. His eyes were red from crying that it hurt to look at him. Liz felt his pain and it hurt so much it made her angry that people would do that to him.

“Where are you?” Liz choked out; her hands cupped his cheeks. Max took a deep breath and then Liz felt his trembling arms slither around her wait, pulling her closer and on top of him. Liz gave him support and all her energy through kisses. Liz planted kisses on his face, his eyelids, his cheeks, and even traced the arch of his eyebrows with her tongue. “I’ll get em,” Liz promised, in between feather light kisses. “Just tell me where you are?”

Max crushed her body deeper into his and Liz straddled his cold thighs and willed the heat of her body into his.
Liz lost herself in his eyes and saw that his eyes were not only bloodshot but also dazed. No flicker of recognition. They’ve drugged him! That’s why he can’t communicate. They’ve fucking drugged him!

Bastards, Liz swore to herself and felt the world swirl around her. She had to get Isabel inside his mind. Maybe she could get through to Max.
“Ill stay here and get Isabel inside. I’ll loan you my energy to at least help you communicate with your sister,” Liz touched his cheek, and slowly sild off his lap and opted to sit beside with her hand clasped on top of his. Liz searched for Isabel’s presence; she didn’t know how to find her as each person had a unique sound and smell, and the colour of their essence, their aurora was a bright golden light. Liz felt a tingle down her spine and found Isabel. The rich smell of lavender burned the insides of Liz’s nose; Isabel’s presence was strong. Call it an alien thing, Liz reckoned. Now, all Liz had to do was open a door and allow Isabel into Max’s mind.

Liz pictured a door emerging from the grey tiled walls and pictured Isabel walking through. Liz saw the opposite wall start to bubble, caving in a dark doorway, and form a door like jelly hardening into shape. The door was wooden and had a gold-brass handle. The handle was pushed down and Isabel emerged inside. She seemed shocked to be inside her brother’s mind but immediately crumpled to the ground.

The drugs, Liz realised. It’s harder to sift through a drugged mind. It’s like being drunk, everything become hazy, slower and harder to function. Liz sat by Max and urged him to tell Isabel where he was. She felt deflated that she couldn’t get it out of him but who knows what the FBI put inside him?

“I have to go but I’ll come back. I promise,” Liz used her hands to guide her to stand up inside the room but her legs felt wobbly as if she had no bones to help her stand upright, but Liz managed to open a door and exit his mind without doing permanent damage. Liz felt him cry out for her. She could feel his helplessness and Liz sent back her love, and everything she wanted him to know she sent out to him. Liz sent volleys of love and promises of coming back but urging him to talk to his sister. For she too needed to know how he was.

Liz fluttered her eyes open and felt something cool on her forehead. She opened her eyes to find her brother Michael with a damp cloth in his hand.
Liz struggled to sit up but Michael gently set her back down.
“I know where he is,” Isabel said, she too was awake and seemed relieved. Liz felt a stab of hurt that Max didn’t want to show her where he was.

< I don’t want you to get captured, > Liz felt his voice unfurl into her mind. His voice was hoarse and Liz knew it took a lot of effort to for him to communicate with her.
< I shouldn’t be feeling this> Liz sent back to him. < Like it or not I’m coming in and coming to get you> Liz sent him a flash of them together, underneath her covers and warped up in a tight embrace. < I’ll take care of you> Liz promised. < Now, rest>

Liz felt him slip away but she could still feel him, he was faint, like a radio with its volume turned down. At least, Liz thought. I can still feel his heartbeat. That was good enough.

Liz was too busy with her own thoughts that she didn’t register everyone getting up and moving out the door. “Let me just get something,” She told the group.

Liz rushed upstairs and marvelled how quickly she recovered. Liz skipped into her room to find Zan lying across her bed and was about to nod off.
“Were going to save Max.” Liz told him, not knowing why she was telling him this, “Stay inside here until I get back and then we can talk with Max,” Liz said.

He opened his eyes and sighed. “Okay, whatever you say honey, but remember when doing something intense with your powers always take a deep breath!”

Jerk, Liz thought.
Liz glared at him and grabbed her grey zip jacket from her desk chair and found her black knapsack and slung it tight around her shoulder before heading downstairs.
__

“Eagle Rock Military Base. This is where they were said to have secretly taken the aliens after the crash.” Maria pointed to the black and white photo of a huge warehouse with another photo of a star symbol with an eagle sprouting its wings tattooed on the floor.

“This is it. This is what Max showed me.” Isabel said to the group. Liz glanced at her and she still seemed shaken up by the whole ordeal.
Maria shrugged, nudging to the photo, “It says that it’s been abandoned for years.”

“That’s where he is.” Isabel alleged.

Liz stood aback, careful to not say anything that might upset anyone. Liz had to make sure they don’t make any noise to cause the alarm to go off and cause more problems than she can handle.

“He showed me who took him,” Isabel said, her blue eyes were wavering around the room. “But I didn’t recognise him,”
Liz sighed. “What does he look like?”
“Tall, dark hair and blue eyes. He had this country accent,” Isabel mulled.

Liz thought for a moment. “Does he look like this?”
Liz closed her eyes and an image of Deputy Fisher appeared in front of Isabel. She screamed. “That’s him!”
Liz opened her eyes and the hologram disappeared.
“How did you do that?” Maria asked.

“It’s called a mind warp.” Liz said, opening her eyes, “ I made you see something that wasn’t there,” Liz walked closer to the group and stood in between Isabel and Michael, gazing at Tess, Alex and Maria. “ He’s Deputy Fisher. I saw him when I was with Kyle at the Sheriff’s office.” Liz groaned, “Shit, I knew he was FBI. I knew there was something off about him….”

“Look, now we have no choice, ok, we have to go to Valenti.” Tess interrupted, totally sure with herself she began walking past Liz but Michael grabbed her by the shoulders and forcefully held her there.
“ What are you crazy? After we just found out about Deputy Fisher? Valenti’s probably in on the whole thing.” Michael bellowed, he growled through his teeth.

“We can’t go to a place like that on our own.” Tess wailed. “We could get caught!” Tess slumped against Michael for support. Liz rolled her eyes. God, Tess can be so annoying.

“ No, you can’t, but we can. Isabel, Liz and I can protect ourselves.”
“With what? Your gifts?” Maria joked.
Michael rolled his eyes, “Why not?”
Maria sighed deeply, out of frustration as she raked her hands through her hair, “Because you don’t know how to use them, that’s why not. You could get killed, or worse.”

Tess piped up, “And you guys aren’t going there without me.” Tess crossed her arms and pouted. The gesture reminded her of a French poodle and Liz had to contain the laughter the threatened to erupt from her mouth.

Liz had enough of them bickering with each other. “ No. Look, you want the truth? You’re liabilities, all three of you. We’ve got a better chance of saving Max without you, and that’s what this is all about, right?” Liz looked at Tess and visibly saw her hatred and hurt aimed towards Liz. Liz softened, rolling her eyes she said, “Max cares about you. He doesn’t want you in danger. Best thing you can do is stay here. If we aren’t back by four o’clock by all means call Valenti,”

“WHAT?HELL NO!” Michael swore. Fuck, she could hear his displeasure a mile away but she had no time for this. As long as Tess thinks that Max will be back before four pm it gave Liz time to save him before anyone else is sucked into the alien abyss.

“We will be back before then, okay Michael?”
Tess walked up to Michael and whispered, “Bring him back to me. He loves me and only I can help him through this trauma,”
Michael nodded and slung his arm around Isabel’s shoulder.
“We’d better hurry.” Liz looked at her watch. It was nearly noon. Where did the time go?
__

The drive was silent as per usual. Only this time Michael was driving, he was doing a good job too at keeping it underneath the speed limit. A few miles ahead of the base Michael said. “We will need to cloak the jeep of course but can you at least block us from view?”

Liz nodded in agreement and feeling the heavy weight of the orb, and the destiny book in her bag Liz tugged the bag strap tighter to her shoulder.

Michael pulled over at the outskirts of the base. Liz concluded that they only needed to cloak the car and melt it into its surrounding, making it seem invisible to onlookers.

Michael easily broke through the chicken wire and led the way to an abandoned metal hatch that opened to an underground bunker. Its amazing how things pan out and how, miraculously there are no body guards, you know those kind in movies when the would-be-hero is walking into enemy lines unarmed and happens to pass through without being caught? Well, this is a reality folks, Liz thought as her brother was leading her downstairs while she appeared alert but truth was she was mind warping the video surveillance systems. It was hard work but it had to be done.

They managed to sneak through the underground hallways and dive into an empty office cubicle just as a couple of workers walked past. Liz peered from behind the door and watched as one of the two fed guys placed their hand on a square black box. The buzzer echoed through the hallway and the metallic-pipe security door opened.

“That’s where Max is! Max showed me that exact same door” Isabel said, consumed with adrenaline Isabel was about to slide across to the door but Michael stopped her.
“But how do we get inside?” He asked, turning to Liz, “I guess you could cross some wires or something,”
Liz reluctantly shook her head, “I can do some things but it looks like the door is made up of depleted Uranium; a metal composed of heavy atoms, which we can’t manipulate…”Liz then added grimly, “ We have many limitations,”

“How do you know all this?” her brother was in awe, despite their current surroundings he smirked at her which warmed Liz’s heart.
“Living with Nasdeo has some perks…while beating you to death….” Liz sheepishly smiled, sucking in her own breath out of embarrassment, “uh… you find your weakness and turn them into strengths,” Liz absently replied, she was distracted by a slight flutter in her mind, a simple brush and yet her body turned cold.

“Speaking of Nasdeo, he’s here.”
“Youwhat?” Isabel wheezed, “How do you know this?” she seemed taken back, almost frightened by Liz’s intuitions but Liz had no time. Yet again she was running against time to save someone she loved. Only this time she was going to win.

“He’s in the morgue,” Liz explained.” She tried to send out something to him, like she always did, a mental knock to let him know she was there but she received nothing.

All right, Liz thought. The hard way. “Were going to have to meet him there. I can cloak our presence from passing guards but you’re going to have to be my eyes and ears. ……” Liz looked at Isabel and could see that she didn’t want to leave that spot. She wanted to go and get Max as much as she did “….I know where Max is and he’s behind that door. Nasdeo is in the morgue. We have a better chance of getting Max back if we had Nasdeo on our side, much to my displeasure,” Liz added, her eyes darkening at the thought of asking Nasdeo for help.

A low rumbling pain sliced open Liz’s chest, exposing her open cavity to the hot humidity of the complex. Liz bit her lower lip, trying to conceal her screams and felt her lower lip bleeding, soaking her front top. Slowly Liz linked arms with Michael and Isabel and pushed aside her pain and focused on being invisible to the minds eye. Her blood was sticking to her skin and Liz could smell the odour of blood burning the inside of her nose but Liz pushed her brain harder as Michael and Isabel lead her through the hallways.

They slinked passed the FBI agents, Liz felt their black uniforms scratch against her as they walked past unawares.
But Max’s pain was escalating. Liz could feel his pain in every core of her cell, her skin burned cold and her heart rapidly thumped against her open chest as she felt her blood gush out of the long thin incision seething in between her breasts.

She felt like she was floating on hot air as her feet were dragged across the threshold of the morgue. Liz dimly saw Nasdeo by the operating table. Liz dropped the mind warp and crumpled onto the floor and her brain was at rest. She felt so tired; she wanted to fall asleep right then and there. Liz could almost feel the cold wisp clouds of the dream plane, it was beckoning her to come inside and she couldn’t help but surrender.

Imipshini Ava. Ovevne totenay watotenay,” Get up Ava, there’s no time for lollygagging. Nasedo’s voice sounded so far away but Liz opened her eyes, just a bit to fuzzily find the outline of Michael’s right in front of her.

Liz felt a litre of blood was in her mouth and she frothed it out through her teeth, allowing air to filter through. Rubbing her head in pain as Max’s screams grew louder and louder she pleaded with him to stop but there was no use. She could only turn down the volume. Waving her hand over her face Liz held her cut lip and peeked behind her top to find a fresh cut still glistering against her sweaty flesh.

She tried healing the wound but to no avail. So, Liz ignored the burning pain and the urge to scratch her skin. Liz staggered upwards with the help of Michael behind her.
“ Minonae peipor overis ona. Menus Kelkat overis peipor. Mina Moradeem overius peipor!” He’s in pain because of you. Our king is in pain. My husband is in pain. Liz savoured the salty taste of her own blood in her mouth and infused all her hatred through her eyes and glared at him. Nasdeo got the message and seemed frightened. But only for a second before he creepily smiled at her.

“You shouldn’t be here. Now, I have to get you all out.” He walked form the concealed dead body to where the three of them stood. He focused his eyes on Liz and smiled at her warmly, which only made her sick to the stomach. “I have a plan,”

Chapter 14

Post by Venus_star2.com »

----R-this contains strong language -----

It was 4:09pm and Tess couldn’t wait any longer. She never trusted Liz and she was going to save Max, her own way. She needed him as much as he did. No matter what destiny he has with Liz Harding. Tess wasn’t going to trust what an alien shape shifter has to say.

“Max and Liz are made for each other,”

Tess remembered Nasdeo saying that. Pah! With her B sized rack? Liz’s physique was no match for hers and the guys at W. Roswell High proved that fact every single day and Max certainly liked her body. She saw inside his soul and how he lusted after her, she also felt his loneliness and Tess vowed to fill that void. She is going to put an end to this once and for all.

Tess knocked on the Sheriff’s door and let herself inside, closing the door behind her with a soft click. Sheriff Valenti was engrossed in his work that he let out a gasp when he noticed her in the room.

“I didn’t see you come in, Miss Hart. What seems to be the problem?”
“It concerns Max.” Tess replied. “He needs your help. Your new deputy, Fisher; he isn’t a deputy, Sheriff, and his name is not Fisher. It’s Pierce – from the FBI Special Unit. He’s the one who has Max.” Tess rushed on, “He’s the man that Miss Tolposky warned us about,” Tess felt her eyes water and allowed them to fall down her face, “Sheriff please, help us,”
__

Liz lay behind the doors of the morgue in the far corner of the room. Her back was slick against the wall as she tried to block out the pain she was experiencing, no, Liz corrected, that Max was experiencing in order to help him.

She heard someone crouch down beside her, “You alight,” Michael whispered.
“No,” Liz weakly replied, removing her head from her lap she saw Isabel walk beside her.
“You did great,” Isabel said.

Liz jumped up a little too quickly and felt woozy for a second but Isabel and Michael were right beside her. Meanwhile, Nasdeo was still beside the morgue table. He told them his plan in order to get Max out. Liz didn’t like it because it required a lot of power from her side as well as Michael’s but she had no choice.

“The most important part of the plan is timing. Set your watches: 5:47.” He instructed and Liz obediently set her watch accordingly, He turned to Michael and said,“ This is your escape route: scan it. ”Nasedo handed him a piece of paper with his planned escape route.

“ Scan it?” Michael asked. Liz scoffed, took the paper from him and placed her hand on his head and uploaded the map into his brain. His eyes flickered white; he shivered from the sudden intrusion as Liz scanned the map into his brain. He jolted awake and Liz let go. He still seemed shocked and a bit pale but offered her thanks by looking at her briefly.

Liz left Michael alone with Nasedo and walked through the array of underground pipelines to find a small vacant place for her to sit on, so, when the time comes she can perform her mind warp on Pierce. Isabel is supposed to dream walk Max while Michael impersonates an FBI agent and walk through the security door by scanning his altered hand, (Nasdeo explained that because of his different bone structure he couldn’t get through the X Ray scanner, or the black box) therefore, it was up to Michael to alter his fingerprint pattern and get inside the door. Liz hoped he was a quick study.

“Are you sure you’re alright,” Isabel asked for the second time.

Liz offered her a soft smile, “I can feel his pain Isabel. As they tor--.”Liz abruptly stopped at that word. She didn’t want to even utter that word. It would bring bile from her mouth if she even thought of that word. She already felt drained from using her powers but from the constant assault of Max’s pain on her it has numbed her physically and emotionally. Her back ached every time she moved; each single vertebrate throbbed a mind-numbing pain up her spine, spiking her skull. “I can feel everything he feels and sometimes it physically manifests itself. Our bond is very strong and yet very weak at the same time. Its the way we were engineered I guess,” Liz thought for a moment. Could it have to do with their royal status? Is that what Zan meant about gaining the royal seal? Was that the reason behind Zan not wanting to share apart of himself through healing her? “All I know is that Max is holding up and I can telepathically communicate with him…. and that’s all…”

“That’s a lot…” Isabel replied. “How long?”
“Couple of weeks. It started when he…” Liz looked down at her watch, seeing the thin black line rapidly ticking the seconds till Showtime… “Look, Isabel… I don’t want to go on about it. We must keep on the ball and wait for our part of the plan to begin…” It was now 5:30pm…17 mins to go.

16 mins to go, Liz chanted but no matter how many times she glanced at her watch the time didn’t go any faster nor did the buzzing feeling of fear coursing throughout her body as she waited alongside Isabel.

-
Everything seemed surreal, as if he was peering out of a rabbit hole. His vision was hazily at first until Max realised that he was no longer in his restraints and Pierce was standing a few feet away. Using all his strength Max had left inside him, and fuelled by the inner hatred towards this man he forced his hand upon Pierce’s chest, feeling the soft cotton of his dress jacket underneath his palm.

Max opened his eyes and stared dead straight into the eyes of this man. No, he won’t close his eyes. He would watch this motherfucker suffer and watch him die, and at this moment Max didn’t care about the consequences. Fuck the consequences. He would enjoy every moment as payback for what Pierce did to him.

Nevertheless, Pierce simply smirked; he didn’t even move an inch. A very bold move for a soon to be man.

“Don’t even try.” Pierce deliberately drawled, his simile slowly itching across his face, “Don’t even try to use your abilities, Max. The serum we injected you with – very effective in suppressing the neurotransmitters in your cerebral cortex.”

The walls were closing in around him and he felt like a helpless child yet again and his attacker placed his arms around his waist, Max felt Pierce’s arms dipping slightly lower than Max predicted and Pierce continued to smile as he whispered in Max’s ear.

“Experiments on the alien in the forties taught us that that’s where most of your powers come from.” Max found himself escorted like a child to a metallic dentist chair. “ Come on,” Pierce encouraged, he even sounded enthusiastic, like some excited scientist about to discover the atom bomb. Max gingerly sat down.

“ Yes, yes. It’s all right.” Pierce abruptly stopped and buzzed his laser pointer on the chair and silver cuffs slid out of their arm sheaths and chained him to the chair like sharks jaws. What was he going to do now? Max wondered. Were there more drugs… because….the drugs he can handle. At least he blacked out and wasn’t coherent when they… experimented on him.

Max prayed to any god that was listening. He prayed that there weren’t any more shock treatments. One more spark and he could feel his brain puddle into a grey mush. “ That’s not your real weakness, though, is it?” Pierce liked to hear the sound of his own voice, Max realised. If I had my powers back I would rip out his voice box but just as that thought left his mind Max felt sick. “ You know, I’ve been going about this the wrong way the whole time. It’s not that you’re part alien: it’s that you’re part human.” realisation dawned on him, his human side? Pierce placed a VR visor on Max’s head. Max felt like a child again as the grey plastic visor reminded him on how he used to play virtual reality games with Michael at the local arcade every Saturday. Before Maria, and before anyone knew about their secret.

“You have feelings.” Pierce stated and an image of Michael was projected onto the visor. Max felt sick again, his friend Michael. “… Emotions.” Max saw the long golden and light brown locks of his older sister, Isabel. She looked so frightened and Max shoved his hands against the cuff, feeling them chaff against his skin as his blood trickled down his hands while the cold metal sliced open his skin. “…Friendship.” Pierce was to the side of him and pointed the laser at the visor. Max saw an image of Maria and Alex on stage, as they were ready to sing at the Pepperoni pizza parlour.

Max also saw the springy spirals of Tess’s goldilocks hair and her crystal blue eyes. Her smile reminded him of how much he cared for her. “Love.” Pierce finished and an image of Liz appeared in front of him and his heart constricted as her full-blown smile appeared in front of him. He felt his love power out for her but then, the mage shimmered and became fuzzy until a dark picture appeared. Max strained his eyes to see what was in the picture until it dawned on him. Liz was on the floor, cold and still as blood streaked from the fresh blow to her head. No, max thought. Liz is not dead.

< Liz> he called out to her but received nothing. Damn these drugs, Max thought. The drugs slowed everything down and cut him off from his powers. Which meant that his connection to Liz was alien too. The image of Liz falling lifelessly to the ground echoed in his mind like a broken record. Each time Max could feel her fear that shone in her cold dead eyes.

“ No! NO!” Max howled, his mouth, outstretched and dry, he continued to howl, throwing insults at Pierce. How could they? Liz was an alien as well? Where was she? What did they do to her? Did they opened her up like some dead frog and looked upon her insides with disgust, poking about her anatomy with pencil thin instruments as they removed each organ one by one. OR…. Max felt hot bile rise up in his throat. What if they dissected her while she was still alive?
“NO you sick bastards!” Max screamed.
“Trick photography, Max.” Pierce stated, pointing to his small bullet sized laser.

“ NO! No!” Max didn’t want to hear any of it. He couldn’t feel Liz anymore and immediately his body convulsed. Maybe there was no point in fighting anymore. Wait, what are you saying? If they killed Liz than every last man in this facility, their women, and children will never see the light of day. Again, Max felt sick with himself, as he didn’t want to become a killer like Nasdeo. However, if Liz was killed…

“ Max, Max!” Pierce was now yelling at him as the image disappeared. Max looked at him through the red screen on the visor, “ Computer rigged. Virtual reality, Max?” Pierce explained. “ It’s not real. It’s not real. We didn’t kill her. We didn’t kill her. I just wanted to show you what could happen. What will happen.”

“You’re evil.” Max replied, his voice was as raw as sandpaper but he wanted to say something besides thinking about killing Pierce where he stood.

“ I’m evil?..-”Piece pointed to himself.
Well, max thought. If you capture minors and tortured them night and day and find many ways to violate them then yes, I’d say that you’re are evil, period.

“……..- I’m risking my life to save my country, my planet from being colonized by alien life - by you. Tell me where the other one is.”

“ The other what?” Max searched for answers but found none. The other what? Some unknown alien artefact? All he had in his possession was the healing stones; cave paintings and a strange dome called the granilith. What else is there?

Pierce turned around and went to get someone off the small silver bench that was shielded from Max. He returned with a metallic pear shaped, orb with a turquoise symbol in the middle in his cupped hands. The symbol was a small square dot with two semi circles surrounding it. What the hell was that? Max wondered.

“We found this in the crash.” Pierce gestured to the orb in his hands, “ We have spent fifty years looking for the other one, and we know you have it.”
No, we don’t, Max wondered what the hell he was going on about. Max knew for sure that he never had seen anything like it before.
“ Tell me where it is. Tell me…” he abruptly stopped, then sighed at Max. “Ok. I’m going to give you a choice, Max. You can either tell me where the other orb is, or you can tell me which one of your friends you want me to kill first?”

-
----I’m going to give you a choice, Max. You can either tell me where the other orb is, or you can tell me which one of your friends you want me to kill first?”

I’ve come at a bad time, Liz thought as she entered Max’s mind. It was like walking in just as someone says something embarrassing or something like 'I want a divorce' Come on, you know those awkward moments but when Liz saw the orb she gasped. Kyle was right, there was a second one and Max has no clue whatsoever.

Liz dimly looked at her watch while swaying uncontrollably in Max’s mind. When Liz entered people’s minds she usually changed the pattern of their brain waves but somehow Liz managed to create a visual image of herself in Max’s mind, like Isabel did with dream walking. This is getting weird, Liz felt scared as her powers were doing wonderful, and yet unpredictable things at an alarming rate.

She had to do something. Liz went over to Pierce and felt herself slither into his mind and Liz felt sick, his mind felt sticky and dirty to filter through but Liz had to save Max

/You have the other orb in your hand already/ Liz projected to Pierce. /Max told you where the other one was and now you have it/ Liz felt Pierce's brain waves, similar to soundwaves change tune and his eyes glazed over.
-

“Thankyou for telling me where the other orb is,” Pierce said just after he threatened to kill one of his friends.
What the hell? Pierce was holding the orb in one hand and his silver bullet in the other. Then…it dawned on him.
Liz…he thought.

< Thank you> He didn’t even know if his gratitude would get to her in time but he hoped she was still there.
“Now,” Pierce barked. “How do they work?”
__

3 mins to go Liz thought as she left Max alone with Pierce. As much as she hated doing that she had to give herself a rest. At least a twenty-second rest before going in there again. She had to conserve her energy as she felt herself draining yet again. She took a couple of deep breaths and lost herself in thought. She couldn’t feel Max anymore and chalked it up to the drugs that were effecting Max and thus, indirectly affecting Liz through their alien connection. Liz felt sad that she was connected with Max on a higher level of intelligence than humans. No human connection like Tess shared with Max.

“I can’t take this,” Isabel sobbed. Liz agreed with her. She couldn’t sit here any longer.

“I know,” Liz said out loud. “But even though Nasdeo is neurotic, a psychotic sick and twisted alien he has his point about timing. We have to, unfortunately stick to the plan. Remember, Michael is in there too and if we do something rash we might cause Michael to get captured as well.”
Liz looked at his watch. Two minuets

“Check on him. Maybe we can help somehow…” Liz felt Nasdeo was near Max. Liz couldn’t feel Michael all that well and Isabel, well she was right next to her. They all had different sounds and auras that it was hard to pinpoint.

Each human being, every living thing had a presence, a unique charisma and is made up of a feeling, a smell and a sound. For example, Nasdeo smelt like stale dirt and his aura emitted a low humming sound like a G cord on a cello. While Isabel smelt like Lavender and her presence carried a sound like a humming bird. Sometimes, Liz would receive a gut wrenching feeling and know instinctively who was there, like the FBI, Nasdeo and Max Evans.

Isabel had her eyes closed and was obviously in connection with Max. Liz looked at her watch again.
One minuet to show time, and thank god, Liz realised. Liz didn’t want to sit here any longer. She wanted to be in the heart of battle with guns blazing and shocking FBI agents to the ground.
Isabel opened her eyes and looked down at Liz with her hair flying out from the loose hair tire in big wisps. “Pierce wants Max to show him how to work the orbs.”

Liz shook her head. “I don’t know how they work.”

“ Well, you’ve got to do something, and do it now.”

Liz rolled her eyes and searched for Pierce and projected an image of herself into Pierce brain. She could feel, see, and hear everything. Liz was standing right next to him and yet both Max and Pierce couldn’t detect her presence..

“Show me how they work,” he said to Max.

Max was staring down at the one orb in vain. His eyes were puffy and red; a stark contrast to his pale white skin and Liz saw the long thin red gash on his chest and instinctively placed her hand around hers.

Maybe, Liz thought, as their bond gets stronger, becomes heightened as they become more intimate, whatever he feels I feel and vice versa and sometimes physically manifests itself if either one gets hurt? It sounded logical but Liz realised she forgot where she was. She was supposed to be mind-warping Pierce, not daydreaming.

“I’m brining them back,” Pierce said, full of his self-ego he was about to bring whoever back. Liz placed an image in his head of the two orbs suddenly erupting in a green light and the light shimmered around each orb as the symbols glowed in sync with a low hypnotic hum.

Liz held Pierce attention and even when Michael and Nasdeo blasted through the wall and grabbed Max and the orb Liz held on until it was just Nasdeo alone in the room with Pierce and she let go and didn’t bother to wait around. Liz came out of the mind warp and looked up at Isabel, “We got em,” and smiled.

Valenti? Liz saw the sheriff when she slumped in behind Isabel just as Michael carried out Max. Michael tossed the orb to Liz, and she caught it and stuffed it in her bag alongside the other orb. Liz caught Max’s eye and her heart warmed.

He was all right. Pushing through Maria and Isabel she didn’t care what anyone else said she swung her arms around his neck. She kissed his cheek and felt his arms enclosed around her in a fierce hug but then a rude rodent by the name of Tess Hart forced Liz and Max apart. Max was shuffled into Maria’s Jetta with Tess and Isabel gave Max some clothes they collected earlier.

Liz was jostled towards the jeep. Her heart suddenly was weak and she began to feel weak as well.

She couldn’t just leave Max. She needed to see him and check on him. Was he was okay? More importantly, did he still love her? Without his powers Max couldn’t protect himself. Liz noticed that she didn’t think about Tess being in danger as well but at this point Liz didn’t care about Tess enough to even think about her in danger.

Squashed to the side of the jeep with Isabel and Alex, with Maria riding shotgun, Michael was driving to Galinas, an abandoned mine site. The drive was in silence and Liz realised no one spoke about Nasdeo. Liz assumed he was shot and still back at the complex.

Good riddance,
Liz thought gleefully. No more nightmares, no more beatings or….Liz didn’t want to think about what Nasdeo did when he spoke about intimacy….

As much as Liz wanted to fall asleep she let her mind drift and found herself riding in the bag of Maria’s jetta with Tess’s in the driving seat and the FBI right behind them.

This isn’t good, Liz realised.
Tess was screaming and got out of the car and Max was right behind her, despite his body being still weak and raw form his ordeal he hurled her over the wire fence and tumbled down the dirt hill with seven agents behind them.

Not if I can help it and Liz wished she was not in this corporal form.

Your powers are already strong. You just have to believe in yourself and you can do…just about anything

Liz remembered Zan saying that and she willed herself to feel whole, for Max’s sake. After a few seconds Liz began to feel the chilly night air giving her Goosebumps. A golden glow surrounded her skin and Liz felt her feet on the cold pavement.

“Hey!” one of the Fed’s barked. Liz realised that they could see her, she looked down at the pavement and saw her own shadow illuminated by the torches the Feds were carrying. The seven federal agents began advancing upon her and Liz blinked. I did it! And wasted no time.

Liz focused on the seven minds of the Fed’s and pictured their brains being deep-fried and feeling the hot piping oil cook their skin. Liz ignored their screams and watched as white steam rose from their ears as each one fell to the ground in an ample heap. Liz knew she didn’t kill the seven FBI agents. She could have but gave their brains enough shock that they will be seeing things for a while… Liz laughed at that thought but deep down she didn’t want to become a cold-blooded killer but one more push of her mind and who knows what she could have done?

Mission accomplished, Liz told herself. She did this all the time, you know, scrambling people’s minds but for some reason she felt…less bad about it. She was protecting Max and that’s all. No bigge. Liz didn’t look down as she jumped over the seven dead bodies clustered on the dirt floor and followed Max and Tess on foot until she got to this abandoned blue bus hidden in an old junkyard.

“He’s okay,” Liz told herself. You can go now? Liz looked at the mini bus in vain. One look wouldn’t hurt…right? Liz stood in the front archway and looked upon as Tess was prancing around Max as he lay on the couch but he was breathing, no, speaking in fact…“when I was in that room, and they did what they did to me. You're what kept me alive.” Liz’s face fell as she saw Tess’s face light up. “ The thought of you.” Max rushed on as he continued to lay there on the old couch he was actually…smiling.. “The way your eyes look into mine.” Tess tiptoed around him and concealed him from Liz’s view so she hiked through the doorway and walked around the lustrous couple to find Tess straddling him, “ Your smile. The touch of your skin. Your lips.” Max let out a slow sigh. He seemed to be off in his own little world, “ Knowing you has made me human. Whether I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: it's you. I want to be with you,” Max was chuckling softly, staring up at the ceiling, almost delirious as if he was high…

High on love, Liz realised. His love for Tess pulled him through this ordeal. Not you.
Max feel into a deep sleep, probably drug induced and Tess squealed in delight and curled up beside him. She too, fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Liz felt her heart ripping open, acid was building up in her stomach as she watched Tess sink her claws in Max’s hair and as she slept. Liz let out a small howl but brought her hand to her lips as she sensed from a distance more FBI agents. Now, that was an easy solution Liz thought, watching as her hands threw off green sparks,

Ill make them see friggin daises and scream for their mommies, just like Nasdeo taught me. Liz felt cold, and numb as she felt the last shred of her human self wither and die within her just as Max uttered those words to Tess. Who would blame him? Liz thought. She was nothing compared to this girl…no matter how vile Tess was Liz would respect Max and do everything in her power to make sure Max got what he wanted: Tess hart.

__

…“when I was in that room, and they did what they did to me. You're what kept me alive.” Max looked up and found Liz staring down at him, her eyes were shining and watery as if she was about to cry. For the life of him Max wanted to touch her cheek with his hand but his body felt like lead. Max hazily remembered running, no tumbling down that hill and something made him look back and he saw Liz, her body was glowing like an angel and he saw her use her powers against those men to knock them out.

He couldn’t blame her is she did indeed kill them. As much as they both didn’t want to be cold blooded killers Max understood that Liz cared about his safety above herself. She was so selfless and if he weren’t full of these drugs he would definitely repay her gladly.

“ The thought of you.” Max rushed on, blushing as he realised he left her hanging. Her hair was soft and silky smooth, he felt her long dark hair tickle his cheek and he smiled. “The way your eyes look into mine.” Liz’s eyes were big, oval and brown and he wondered what she looked like in their previous life. Would she look as beautiful as she did then? Of course, Max thought. “ Your smile.” Liz smile became a blushing full blown out smile; “ The touch of your skin.” Max desperately wished that she was come closer.

He wanted to feel her warm skin against his. He felt so wet and cold that he couldn’t feel parts of his body. Well, that wasn’t true, there was one body part that was defiantly functionally but he was too weak to act upon those urges he felt as he looked at Liz, his beautiful Ava. “ Your lips.” Her large, full red bud lips that felt so soft when he kissed her and dangerously addictive. Even with that strawberry lip balm she put on, it only increased the desire he had for her

“… Knowing you has made me human.” Even if it has been weeks, months or even days Liz made him feel normal because she understood him in way that no one else could. Yes, she spent all her life with Nasdeo but even that psychotic man who Max believed killed in cold blood hadn’t tainted her one bit.

In fact Max saw her fiery passion and even though she lied to him he was already in love with her, which fully intensified when she told him that they were meant to be together. She was so selfless, and passionate. Max knew she felt lonely and wanted to feel like a human that she even sacrificed her own happiness, and a chance of feeling normal for him. Back when he didn’t know her she cared about him. There was no need for Liz to feel unwanted anymore, Max vowed.

When he recovered he will take her out and make her feel loved, wanted, and human, “ Whether I die tomorrow or fifty years from now, my destiny is the same: it's you. I want to be with you,” Max was chuckling softly; it was ironic that they were meant to be together but he had to get that out. No matter what happens Max wanted Liz and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her. His vision started to fade and he wanted to say something but the drugs were taking over and he feel into a deep sleep.
__

Liz felt like she was flying and on a whim Liz flung her arms out and felt the warm hot breeze brush against her face and she smiled. Ah, this is heaven Liz realised. She couldn’t see anything but she felt all floaty as her head still felt raw from all that mind warping.

Liz laughed to herself. By now those FBI agents are waking up in straight jackets and it was worth it. If she didn’t mind warp them they would have discovered….Max and recaptured him. Not only did Liz have to mind warp the FBI agents she had to cloak the bus..aka making it invisible and Liz felt like she was dying as darkness claimed her when she eventually stopped to see the sunrise.

Liz felt the cold ground underneath her and as it froze her skin it caused Liz to become wide awake. No, correction Liz felt like she had a massive hangover, or at least that’s how she could describe it. Bad Breath, smelling like death and a jackhammer for a brain buzzing away with no care in the world. What a great way to wake up.

It was then she realised it was the Alex who carried her inside.
Liz felt her eyes flutter and didn’t put up a fight. I’m too tired; leave me alone, Liz thought. Let me wallow in pain, her heart was still broken from Max’s affirmation of his love for Tess; it was almost sicking to even think about it.

But Alex didn’t take a hint, he handed her a cold can of soda and left her lying on the dusty cold floor. As Liz became more aware of her surrounding she could make out that they were in some kind of underground bunker with a rusted old wooden table in front of her and a set of stairs bathed in sunlight in which Maria and Isabel sat, slowly basking in the sun. Liz, meanwhile, was in the dark corner with a can of soda, breathing in dust.

Liz looked down at the cold can of soda. It was called a lime warp, Liz shrugged, twisted the can open and watched it froth out with lime green bubbles and took a big slurp, its bitter cold lime taste slid down her throat. Liz cringed. It tasted like goat piss but it was a liquid and she was indeed thirsty and hungry. Her stomach rumbled and she clutched it in vain. Shouldn’t have thought that but she would have to suck it in.

Liz heard footsteps and saw Michael amble in, alongside a very happy Tess.. Who wouldn’t be happy after having Max confess his love for you? Liz thought, she felt her hand burning and realised she burned the can to ashes and it lie in an ash clump on her stomach. Liz dusted it off and crossed her arms.

Emotions affect your powers, Emotions are your weakness, Liz chanted. Focus on the objective. She felt lighter but not any better. She wanted someone to call home, Liz wailed. Oh God, Liz thought. Don’t become weak and sappy!!! there’s the FBI and Pierce and Nasdeo are still out there. You’ll need Nasdeo if you want to destroy the special unit. Liz mused. She could easily kill Pierce but she couldn’t shape shift and Nasdeo has perks in shapeshifting and can easily shut down the unit.

Liz was still dealing with her powers. She can’t always control them, Liz cursed, although ever since arriving in Roswell she felt her powers become stronger and more easily to tap into.

Liz swore under her breath as she stood up, tugging her bag over her shoulder Liz joined Isabel and Michael by the dusty table.

“I don't know how I did it. I don't even know what I was trying to do. It just happened.” Michael whispered, gesturing to his still glowing hands, his hands were a white shimmer before it dimmed and his hands were normal again. His powers, Liz confirmed. Michael must have used them and managed to control it. Liz remembered that Michael had trouble with her powers and Liz promised herself that when this was over she would help him control his powers even more.

“ It's just your own energy, Michael, and how you focus it. That's what Nasedo was trying to teach you.” Liz guessed while Isabel and herself were cooped in a secluded place Nasedo was trying to teach him how to use his powers. Luckily, Michael didn’t get beaten to death or get tossed into ice baths each time she did something wrong. Or have someone come in the middle of the night and try and rape you.

She mentally slapped herself. That happened when you were, like 14 or 15 years old and Nasedo stopped making advances when you learned how to mind warp him just enough to prevent him from touching you….Liz punched her stomach slightly to shock itself from not vomiting.

“ So you did this in front of Valenti?” Isabel cried.
“ Well I couldn't let them get caught.” Michael protested
“This changes everything.” Isabel mused.

Wait, what happened while I was sleeping?
Liz saw Alex and Maria join them by the table and noticed how Michael had his arms around Maria and how Isabel clung to Alex like a lifeline. Liz felt even more alone but shushed it away. If I can block my human side like Nasdeo has been trying to tell me then maybe I can find some peace.
“What did you do?” Liz asked her brother but before he could say anything Isabel answered for him.

“Michael and Valenti went looking for Tess and Max and found them about to be caught by the FBI. Michael used his powers to distract the FBI in front of Valenti,”
“Oh,” Liz raised her eyebrows and huffed some loose locks from her face. “Well..it was a life and death situation…”

“ So what is Valenti going to do? What are we all going to do?” Alex said to the group while kissing Isabel lightly on the forehead.
“Beats me” Liz whispered.

“ We're going to think this through, and we're not going to panic.” Max was trudging down the stairs and Tess was already beside him, with her arms looped around hers. Liz adverted her eyes and felt the ground swirl around her. She needed to lie down but grabbed the bench for support. Despite what she may be feeling right now Max had a point. What now? Liz looked down her top to find the scar gone and realised that Max had his powers back, or enough to heal himself.

“So, you think we should trust Valenti?” It sounded from Liz’s point of view that Isabel didn’t like that idea and on one level Liz could understand. Letting someone in on your secret is a big risk.

“ We have no choice.” Max replied to his sister and Liz thought it would be a good idea not mention that she could easily mind warp Valenti and erase his mind from ever seeing Michael using his powers. If Max thought it was better to have Valenti on their side, so be it. Liz has no say in that matter.

“What about Nasdeo? Is he dead?” Tess sounded pleased, and she was practically glowing with happiness even though she was still on the staircase, bathed in the sunlight.

“Well, Nasedo isn't here. And Pierce will do anything to anybody if he thinks he can get to us.” Max looked down at Tess and unlooped his arm from her and made his decent downstairs, joining the table by standing in between Isabel and Michael. Liz was thankful for Michael standing next to her. Liz didn’t know how to handle herself if she was standing right next to Max.

“Well we sure as hell can't stay here the rest of our lives.” Michael said.

“What do you mean? Leave Roswell for good?” Isabel asked.

“Personally from my own experience on being on the run.” Liz pointed to herself. “It isn’t good. They won’t stop so I think we should stay and fight. Take back our lives,”

“What?” Michael looked down at his sister and she saw something in his eyes. Liz couldn’t pinpoint it but she knew she was right. It was time to put an end to this.

“When Pierce told me the things they had done to the other alien… I'll die before I let that happen to any of you.” For some reason Max held his gaze on her and Liz understood. Their connection hadn’t reopened and Liz knew it never will after last night but when it was open between them Liz felt Max’s pain and she understood his words. Liz knew what it felt like to be tortured by a madman, just….not by the FBI.

“Pierce does know who we are.” Max told the group; meanwhile Liz saw Sheriff Valenti was on the sidelines, still shell shocked by the ordeal. “But we also know who he is, and we're stronger than he thinks. We may be even stronger than we think.” Max still visibly shaken but Liz saw an inner strength and she knew it was enough to support him in this fight.
“Then, were going to have to get Nasdeo back,” Liz told the group.
“I know,” Max replied, still looking at her and Liz felt sick inside. Liz didn’t want to be alone with him so he would have to fumble out an apology and say to her that he wants Tess. Luckily they had other things on their plate to deal with.
“I have a plan,” Max said and bent forward to tell the group on how they were going to take their lives back.
__

As the group divided into their proposed groups Max hid his disappointment when Liz opted to ride with the sheriff instead of him. He couldn’t remember what happened last night. He was so out of it but he had to speak with her.

He needed her, he wanted to kiss her and have her kiss him back. He needed to feel whole again .One thing he knew for sure was that he loved Liz Parker and even though last night was a blur and Max hazily remembered in a dream he confessed his love to her Max knew that as soon as they were alone he would tell her that because he got the slight feeling that there was something going on that he didn’t know about.
<Liz> Max mental knocked her mind. He felt nothing but then he cringed as he felt a gut-wrenching shove from Liz’s mind when he tried to speak with her. She was blocking him from her thoughts and her feelings.
Yeah, Max told himself. There was something definitely wrong.

“I want to know what the hell is going on.” Kyle demanded to the Agent that stood guard in his house. Kyle slouched against the wall in his jeans and grey polo shirt. The old horror movies that were so horrible it was more of a comedy lay abandoned on his coffee table. He intended of heading over Liz’s house to hang out and play games with people’s lives. Maybe have Liz mind warp Chad into thinking he was in love with Ben, that kind of thing, to make up for him not spending time with her. However, she wasn’t home and he couldn’t get her cell and when he came home. This guy was here.

Agent Samuels replied, “ I'm sorry Kyle Valenti. My orders are to protect…”

“ Protect me from any harm. I know. You told me. Look, if my dad's in any trouble, I have to know about it.” Kyle quivered. What was going on? “Does this have to do with Max Evans?”
--
Isabel and Michael walked outside the Crashdown and seemed oblivious to the world and it seemed to any onlooker that Isabel nor Michael didn’t see the agent who was following them but in the far distance a fuzzy image appeared, which morphed into a girl with brown eyes. Serena was pleased with herself that she mastered her astral projection powers when she was a child. It made things easier for her to control.

She stood on the other side of the road, watching from afar until it was time to put her plan in action. Serena laughed to herself. This is going to be fun! Like playing chess. Serena closed her eyes and the projected image of herself blinked and faded away like a sun’s wink in your eye.
__
Liz Harding was in the driving seat of Max’s jeep. Michael and Isabel were walking along Main Street that was in front of her. She saw the Agent follow them. The plan was simple. Mind warp the agents to go to Hondo. Still, Tess had to ask the most obvious and stupid questions

“What are you going to do?” Tess whined, her face was scrunched up like a ferret and her eyes had lost some of that shimmer. Oh god, Liz was so tempted to mind warp Tess but she had to make the agents see Agent Pierce. Liz closed her eyes and allowed her mind to drift and searched for the Two Agents that she knew of that were in Roswell.

She found one at Kyle’s house and her heart hitched and searched through that Agent’s mind. His name was Agent Samuels and Liz immediately mind warped The Agent to see Pierce ordering him to go to Hondo. At the same time Liz mind warped the other agent who was following Isabel and Michael outside the Crashdown to go to Hondo.

/There's an abandoned gas station three miles east of town. Go there and wait for me./

Liz sent that message into the two FBI agents minds.

“I understand. Hondo.” The FBI Agent Kyle now knew as Agent Samuels was talking to thin air, his eyes were glazed and Kyle realised that it was Liz’s doing. Why would Liz mind warp an FBI agent unless….
“Hello?” Kyle whistled. The Agent jolted out of his revive.
“What the hell just happened here?” Agent Samuels was alert. Kyle didn’t what to say, for he too was confused.

He was about to say something when he saw a grey blur and Max Evans, was suddenly in his house standing over the now unconscious FBI Agent.
“ He's not what you think he is.” Max told Kyle.

I already gathered that, Kyle thought. What was Max doing here? Where’s Liz? Kyle knew Liz used her powers and he wanted to know what was going on, and to know if Liz was okay.

“Where the hell's my father?” He took out his anger on Max. It was easy to do that because he already hated Max, despite his Buddhists beliefs when it came to Max. He stole his girlfriend from him and ruined his life. He hated him. Period.

“ Safe. That's all I can tell you right now.”

“Well, not good enough. Where is he?” Where’s my father? Kyle thought. Was Liz, her father and Max all linked somehow or was this some kind of bizarre dream?

“It will do,” Max grunted and dragged the FBI agent to the closed and slammed the door shut. “Turn around,” Max ordered.

“ What? No.” Kyle yelled.

“I said turn around!”

Kyle obeyed and something clicked. Was it possible that Max was like Liz? A friggin Alien?

“ Look, if anything happens to my father because of you, I swear to God, I will kill you myself.” He loved Liz, he adored everything about her and was the best friend he ever had but if Max were to hurt her in anyway and take her away from him. He didn’t care if he ended up in federal prison. He would kill him and have no regrets.

“ I can't explain anything right now. This wasn't supposed to happen. Your father's ok. Just stay put. He doesn't want you involved.” Max pointed to the door, “ Don't let him out of there and we'll all be ok.” Max was backing away as he spoke and Kyle looked at the closet door in question. What did Max do to the door?
He was now left in the house with so many questions and he knew Max had those answers. He didn’t care what Max said. He grabbed his jacket and headed to the gun cabinet. If his dad was in danger he was going to see for himself.
__

Liz could hear Max down in the auditorium. Liz heard him using the same words Pierce said to him while he kept prisoner and she knew he was getting his poetic justice. Meanwhile, Liz didn’t like the idea of being cooped up with Isabel, Maria, Alex, Michael and least of all Tess but she was apart of this team, at least for now.

However, when Liz decided to listen in on their conversation she heard Isabel saying she was having trouble in getting into Pierce’s head so they could find out where Nasdeo was being held.

“Just focus on the objective,” Liz yawned, fanning her face with a scrap piece of paper. “You can do it,” Liz offered her a lazy smile. She had done so much in the last…Liz didn’t know how many hours… of non stop mind warping.

However, no sunspots like Zan told her she would get, which was good for now. It meant that she was accepting her alien side more.
“I’m gonna check on Max,” Michael said and left the upstairs office.
Isabel gave Liz a death glare but took her advice and closed her blue eyes. Meanwhile, Max’s voice filled the museum as he continued to pound Pierce with questions.

A few minutes later Isabel was out of her spell and offered Liz a sad smile. “He’s dead,”
Liz bit back laughter. “He can’t die,” I wish, Liz added silently. “We just need some healing stones from River Dog, which I know you have so all we need is Nasdeo. We use the stones and boom he’s healed.”
A loud bang rang in Liz’s ears and filled the auditorium and the smell of gunpowder rose from the ground floor.

Just seconds after the earth-shattering bang came a loud roar that sounded like a war cry followed by a blinding light, searing her eyes and a dull thud echoed throughout the museum heard. Liz guessed that a body must have been thrown to the ground.
Liz followed the others downstairs to find Michael hunched over in pain. Pierce was untied and dead on the ground while Kyle….
Liz felt her knees buckle. Kyle had been shot in the chest. Kyle’s dad was kneeling over him, crying openly as his son lay there dying.
From what Liz gathered from the scene before her. Pierce shot Kyle and Michael blasted him.

“Heal him,” Liz sought out Max. Who was by the Sheriff. “Heal him….”
Max looked up at her and Liz let her guard down and revealed her raw emotions. “Heal him…please,” he was her best friend. The first guy who knew her secret and thought her powers were cool. Max couldn’t let him die. Liz used her teary eyes in a silent plea for him to save Kyle.
Max nodded his head and placed his hand over Kyle’s soaking wet shirt and began to heal.
_

Kyle was healed and the sheriff promised to keep their secret and offered to help them in whatever they needed in return for healing Kyle. At that time Liz couldn’t have a moment alone with Kyle but later, much later she would explain everything to him. She hoped that even though he got shot and was healed by Max Evans that he wouldn’t hate her for keeping information from him. Like Max Evans being an alien for example.
Max, Michael and Isabel were off to save Nasdeo while Liz volunteered to take the others to the famous pod chamber.

So, here she was, driving Maria’s Jetta………… (Max dropped the group off by the abandoned Jetta and healed its bullet holes and pumped its flat tires)…… towards her birthplace.
It didn’t feel right to take Tess to the one place that felt sacred to her but yet again, Max loved Tess so anything he says goes, Liz thought sarcastically.

Screeching the Jetta to a halt Liz hopped out the driving seat, tossed the keys to Maria and stood in awe at the base the mountain cliff that jutted outwards, towards the sky. It seemed like a long hike upwards but Liz didn’t care. Just the thought of being inside her birthplace filled her with peace, which Liz welcomed.
Liz was already at the top and turned to watch the others stumble upwards.

“So…is this….where….Michael….” Maria pointed to the cave as she joined Liz, out of breath and flushed from the desert heat.
“Yeah,” Liz finished for her. “This is where they were born,” Liz placed her hand on a small circular rock face and the door- churned inwards to reveal the limestone cavern.

Liz led them inside the cave that was illuminated by blue lights. Liz looked at the four pods and felt her heart skip a beat.

Alex was still outside, as if he was staring at something, “Here they come,” Alex looked at Liz and she sighed. Great.
Max and Michael pulled Nasedo’s body in, well, in the form of the FBI agent. He was tall and of African American decent and Liz bit her lower lip. Did they really have to heal him?
“Are you sure this is him?” Isabel asked.

“This is who he was last time I saw him.” Micahel replied. Liz knew it was Nasdeo, she can sense his essence within that human form. She had been around him long enough to tell the difference.

Maria, Alex, and Tess stood on the sidelines while Liz sat alongside Michael with healing stone in hand, thanks to Isabel who was handing them out. Closing her eyes she focused her energy dissolving into the stone. Liz inhaled and pictured the energy of the stone and hers combined being spread out like fertilizer on the soil across Nasedo’s body. She focused on his fragile alien skeleton and watched as the energy from the stone restored the balance within his alien cells. When she opened her eyes she found Nasdeo, in the base form of Ed Harding staring right at her.

“Show us how the orbs work?” Liz said, she twisted her bag around, zipping it open to pull out the two orbs.

But Nasedo didn’t listen, he looked over Liz’s shoulder to see Maria, Alex and Tess huddled in one corner. He pointed at Tess, “She doesn't belong here.”

“ She's with me.” Max told Nasdeo and Liz felt her stomach sink even lower. “We want to know.” He eyed the orbs in Liz’s hands, “ You're the only one who can show us.”

“It's not my job to show you. My only job is to keep you alive.” Nasdeo stated the obvious.

“Your job?” Isabel quizzed, puzzled by Nasedo’s answer

“ Well if your only job is to keep us alive, then tell us. They're communicators. They communicate with who?”
Our home planet, Liz realised. It’s a message and Liz had a feeling they communicate with the king.

“You're not ready to know yet.” Nasdeo said, his tone was cold and Liz thanked the gods that he was showing his true face.

“They communicate with our home planet, don't they? Why don't you want us to contact them?” Michael was stating the obvious but since they were still in the dark Liz didn’t want to say anything. She looked over at Maria, Alex and Tess and thought about what they might discover. Max loved Tess and that message will certainly say that he was destined to be with Liz, not her so what should she do?

“ Because you don't know who else you may contact in the process.”
This was news to Liz, she was aware of the possible threat from the FBI but she assumed that the skins, Kivar’s people were still on Antar. From Nasedo tone it was a no. How many enemies do we have? Liz wondered. Is it a good idea to activate the orbs if it caused them to be in danger?

“…Set off those orbs, and you have no idea who you may be leading straight to us” Nasdeo said.

“You don't know, do you? You don't know how to use the orbs. If you knew, you would've already used them. You're here to protect us, but not to lead us, you said it yourself. But if you're not the leader, who is. .” Liz looked at his face and his expression told her everything. Max knew the answer. The orb communicated with Max; the leader. The King of Antar.

“ If you really want to know what the orbs do, you can find out for yourselves, I can't stop you. But do it at your own risk.” Liz knew Nasdeo liked giving cryptic messages, and quite enjoyed toying with them but Liz remained silent. The message would crush the group. I can’t let that happen.

“ If you're really here to protect us,” Max said and Liz wanted to laugh. Protect? Hah! He has his own agenda. She didn’t know what it was but it had nothing to do with protecting the royal four for the good of mankind. “…..there's something you have to do. The only way we can ever go back is if nobody's hunting us anymore.”

“ Pierce is already dead.” Michael supplied, but silently and Liz offered him a smile but he shrugged her off. Clearly Michael was dealing with killing Pierce in his own way.

“ He'll only be replaced, unless we replace him.” Max looked at Nasdeo and he nodded. As he shape shifted and his skin colour changed a bright light encircled him as always and it was too bright to look at. As it dimmed Agent Pierce stood in front of them.
“The other agents are at an abandoned gas station in Hondo.” Max said.

“Now that I'm the head of their Special Unit, we've have all their resources. You'll be safe now.” He drawled and left but Liz knew far too well that they weren’t safe when Nasdeo was in charge.

“I want to know.” Max’s amber golden eyes were bright and Liz felt herself getting lost in them. He shouldn’t be this breathtaking. “ Maybe if we just focus like Nasedo's always said.”
Now came the hard part. Liz had to hold the orb she was given by River Dog with Max. She felt his hands clasped with hers, his warmth seeping into her skin and as they concentrated Liz had a hard time focusing as he was so close, inches even form her face. One more inch and she could taste his mouth.

He loves Tess, Liz reminded herself for the millionth time. Now, focus on the objective and directed her energy into pouring into the orb.

Liz noticed that the symbol on the orb started to shimmer, then glow in a pulsating blue light until it shot up like a beam and she could hear a distant beeping sound. Liz felt the energy the orbs generated course through her body before shooting upwards, towards home.

A blue light hovered above them like small cloud. The blue light formed a holographic image of a woman with long blonde hair and caring blue eyes.

“ If you are seeing me now, it means that you are alive and well. I take this form because it will be familiar to you, and it will help you to understand what I am about to say. You have lived before. You perished in the conflict that enslaves our planet but your essence was duplicated, cloned, and mixed with human genetic materials so that you might be recreated into human beings. My son, you were the beloved leader of our people. I have sent with you your young bride. My daughter, the man you were betrothed to, and your brother's second-in-command.

“Oh my god, Max. Our mother.” Liz heard Isabel say but Liz was too busy with the revelation. Max’s mother announced that she was Max’s young bride.

“…..Our enemies have come to the Earth. You will know them only by the evil within. Learn enough to use your skills, your knowledge, your leadership to combat the enemy so that you can come back and free us. And that I may once again hold you both in my arms. I live for that moment. Help us. I love you.”

The image began to fade and Liz had seconds to react. If she didn’t do something Max would be heartbroken because his destiny was, after all with Liz and not with his beloved Tess. So, swallowing her pride Liz beckoned all six minds to look up at that image and Liz added a couple of sentences, anything she could think of while mind warping them so that Isabel, Michael and Max would not have to be left alone.

Liz closed her eyes and focused on creating an image of the Holographic woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes and a white gown. ONce she had that pictured clear in her mind she projected it into their minds, mind warping them.

/ Although in your past lives you were together. In this time line you cannot consort with each other/ You were designed to find a human mate and come back with them to free us/ You can choose your mate as it is impossible for you to mate with each other. You four are a unit and with your human mates you will be able to destroy your enemies and return home/

Liz then filtered through Max’s mind and erased everything they shared with each other. She erased the knowledge of their bond. All his feelings he harboured for Tess Liz intensified so he would now; forever love Tess like he wanted without the burden of knowing otherwise. Liz erased the discovery of the granilith and implanted an image of their meeting; they were good friends but not lovers.

Liz then went through Isabel and Michael’s mind so that, they too, will not remember the dreams they had of being together. Liz erased that memory from everyone’s mind as well. So, to them the group met Liz and then Max was captured and now they discovered their “destiny” was with whomever they choose.

Liz paired them up, Michael and Maria, Isabel and Alex and Max and Tess. Liz sifted through each mind and implanted a feeling of love towards each other so that they will be happy that they can be together. Liz held on until she made sure no one remembered the desert dreams and Max will not remember ever feeling anything towards her or their connection. Liz felt like dying but she was doing this in order for them to be happy. Liz also implanted calmness in her brother’s mind so that it may help him as he deals with murdering Pierce.

“She's so beautiful.” Isabel commented, her blue eyes were glazed over.

“ I always knew there was something out there, but I had no idea how important it was.” Michael went over to Maria and kissed her. He was smiling and he was happy. That’s all that mattered.

“Things will never be the same, but whatever happens, we have to stay together. It's the four of us now.” Max looked at Liz briefly before looking over at Tess.

“I knew this was meant to be.” Tess smiled and hugged Max, giggling happily from her throat. It sounded more like a throat gurgle.

Liz couldn’t take it anymore. She left the pod chamber and walked down the cliff, kicking loose pebbles with her shoes. Liz was alone, with only the cold wind wiping away her hot salty tears and giving mild comfort to her broken and numb heart. She felt so lost and alone without her connection to Max she felt less human. But it was for the best. It was the best for all of them to not know their true destiny. It would tear them apart and ruin their lives. They deserved to be happy.

New York

Someone far away, in a limousine, has a little black beeper that has a flashing pentagon on it. It is making the same beacon sound as the orbs. The limousine drove down the main strip of New York, grinning as the Royal Four’s location was revealed, finally after nearly fifty years. Roswell, New Mexico.

The boy had spiked hair and brown eyes; he looked down at the pentagon and then, over at Serena and Lonnie who were flanked by his side. “ It has begun.” He said.

The same beeping sound echoed through houses, cottages, lighthouses, and in cars. In every town, city and country the location of the royal four was revealed to their friends and enemies. The war had begun.

Chapter 15

If an alternate universe, and if everyone knew about Liz’s powers Liz could imagine the questions she would be plagued with now:
When you mind warp do you see their thoughts, feel what they feel and Liz would answer, yes I do feel everything and see everything and know their most intimate thoughts, but not all the time. Sometimes Liz didn’t like the idea of knowing so much about the person she was mind warping and would shield herself from their thoughts and feelings…like Max for example.

Although Liz was mind warping six people at the same time Liz honed on Max and she didn’t want to know what he was thinking after seeing him with Tess. Liz didn’t want to feel the love he had for Tess.
Another factor is that when Liz mind warped more than one person Liz wouldn’t hear their thoughts because, yet again Liz shielded herself from their intrusion into her mind, its kinda like having your ID blocked when you call someone. Liz pictured people yelling at her for mind warping Max, and even people saying it was her fault for doing this but Liz stopped the daydream and entered the real world. I tend to go insane after I use my powers too much. I could sleep for a week.

So guess where I am now? Yes, you guessed it! In Maria’s Jetta and yet again I was driving, even though its not my car to begin with. Maria and Alex were with Liz in the Jetta as Michael, Max, Isabel and Tess were in the Jeep.

“I can’t believe it,” Maria breathed, she sounded so happy and Liz reminded herself of why she was doing this. This is the reaction Liz needed to see. Maria’s happiness softened the blow on Liz’s part.
Her body felt fuzzy as her eyelids began to droop. Liz shook herself. Don’t fall asleep Ava. Wait did I just call myself Ava? I did! didn’t I? That’s it! I’ve finally gone insane.

Liz managed to drive all the way to her house in Paluma Heights without any mishaps. Liz trudged outside Maria’s jetta and hugged her stomach. Her brain started to churn as its spiralled in continuos circles, begging for sleep.

“You alright?” Maria asked, but she sounded so far away and as Liz finally made her way to the front door Liz grunted back and flopped her right arm in a semi wave of thanks.
Liz waved her hand on the front keyhole and it opened for Liz with a soft hiss.

“Honey, I‘m home,” Liz grumbled to herself. She wondered if Max was okay, if the mind warp was more damaging to her mind since he was put through both emotional and physical trauma?

Get a grip Liz, she told herself as she tossed her bag in the lounge room. Last time you checked Max was fine, well as fine as anyone can be after being tortured but he has Tess now. Tess can look after him; hell, he has an older sister who can look after them. It isn’t always about you and what you had to go through after being tortured by Nasdeo countless times.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Zan was leaning against the door archway leading into the front foyer.
She offered him a lopsided grin, “Nah…I’m…I’m okay…” I think…. Liz’s eyes rolled backward and her body cascaded to the floor. It felt weird to Liz as she fell backwards, like having an out of body experience; it felt like she was an onlooker looking at her body as it limply feel towards the floor but she felt a pair of warm and inviting arms catch her and she huddled into a ball, surrounded by these arms and feel asleep.
__

Luckily Max’s parents were spending two weeks in Santa Fe, part of Dad’s business trip and his mother’s holiday or they would’ve had more problems to deal with besides shutting down the Special Unit.

TAP-TAP-TAP

His fingernails drummed against his bedside table as Isabel, Michael and Tess crouched around him. Everyone was silent and Max distracted himself by the therapeutic tapping noise he heard his fingers make.

“What the hell was that?” He said, “My energy, your energy…I’ve never felt…”His voice changed from awe to authority. This energy was different. When his energy met hers it was pure chaos; two powerful entities blending into one it almost felt orgasmic. His body heated up as his hands itched to slither underneath that tight top and…. “What are you?” Max inwardly shook himself. What the hell was he thinking? Feeling? He was dating Tess; he shouldn’t feel these feelings towards Liz. Although, he didn’t care, in fact as he cared about now is whether or not he was going to touch her.
“Well, I am not Nasedo,” Liz chuckled.
Nasedo, the alien shape shifter. Liz knew that name, was she FBI? An alien? a very talented sexy alien with wet lips that screamed “Kiss me”. Her long dark brown hair was flying everywhere, across her broad shoulders and sticking to her lips that were frozen in shock. He could feel her fear and the same attraction he felt towards her. Something opened up inside him and he felt whole as his soul blended in with her. He began to see the golden shimmer around her intensify like a bright glowing sun. He unconsciously grabbed her right hand and began rubbing her inner wrist with his thumb, feeling the rapid beat of her heart. He didn’t know if she could feel his hand, no, correction he knew she couldn’t feel his hand on her because she was caught up in this warm lava feeling connection that Max never felt with anyone before. Not with Michael, Isabel or even Tess. This connection that wasn’t intended to begin with was strong. Unless…his alien side opened the connection. Possible since he spent half his life closing off his alien self that by seeing Liz it came back to life and did things he couldn’t control and yet, Max didn’t want any control when it came to Liz. He wanted to be a raging bull and pin her against the wall and….

<I don’t need this> her voice was fueled with fear, frustration and confusion. He could feel her feelings, which told him that she wanted more than anything but she was torn between what her mind said, what her heart said and what her alien side said. What? Her alien side. He could taste the sweet taste of strawberries in his mouth and breathed in her presence as much as he could. He could feel her alien side call out to him.
Zan, it called. Come.
< Me neither> Max replied. He knew he was lying in a sense that he wanted the same thing she did but at the same time it scared him. To have this intimate connection with someone he barely knew, just by making a connection?
Max could see her brown eyes widened in shock. <What the hell was that? >
< I dunno, you tell me> Max replied, crossing his arms. She bit her lower lip in thought and he shushed out any thoughts concerning her mouth and the nether regions of his body. He was a man and he had urges but if she could hear his thoughts then max didn’t want Liz to hear him thinking about her in that way just now.
< Somehow, through our energy bleeding together we formed a bond with our minds. We can communicate with our thoughts. Thought speak. When I connect with people and even share combine energy we don’t form a cozy bond with one another >
She seemed confused as he was but when he thought about it when he initiated the connection she was completely drained from using all her energy as he knew she must have mind warped over five hundred students at one time and anything on that large scale could drain anyone. Max knew Liz was ‘near death’ physically, and power wise when he connected with her. She was still inexperienced with her powers, he knew that form their connection and he knew that if he didn’t heal her mind and send over his energy that somehow intimately knew hers then she would have fainted, or fallen into a coma or died. So, figuratively he healed her and formed a connection.

TAP-TAP-TAP

........

“Maxwell,” Max heard Michael calling him but he ignored him. Instead, he stood by the school tree and its looming branches and watched an image of himself meeting Liz for the first time. It wasn’t their actual first meeting but the first time he discovered she was an alien and it was the best day of his life. It was the day that his life began.

“Er…. What were you saying,” Max rubbed his eyes and looked down at his own fingers. What was he doing again? He remembered being carried inside by Michael and thrown on his bed and…Liz

His eyes flared, became more alert, or as much aware bloodshot eyes can get…Oh god Liz…where was she? He hadn’t got the chance to tell her how much he needed her in his life, and that he loved her.

/You love Tess/ a voice whispered in his mind. It sounded like his voice but a bit off.
No, he didn’t. He loved Tess. What!!! Max screamed at his own thoughts NO, I love Liz, Max told himself and felt his body start to shake. I love Liz, he chanted to himself. LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ
/You love Tess. You’ve always had. You met Liz and felt nothing but friendship towards her/

LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ! Max fought against the voice. The voice grew louder until it thumped against his brain like it was banging stones on his skull.
LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ

/ Although in your past lives you were together/In this time line you cannot consort with each other/

He saw himself standing in front of a rusted cross symbol alongside Liz, holding hands as his eyes fixed upon the four square. It meant something to him; it meant that he was designed to save his world alongside his beloved wife.

He saw Liz’s face staring back at him as the wind parried her hair like silk. The face started to blur and everything became dark, and gloomy. The sky had turned from a bright blue to a muddy grey and the sand had lost its rusted shade and became a soulless, lifeless soil and nothing felt real to him as the colours, and the realism of this memory began to fade.

/You were designed to find a human mate/ the voice hissed inside his brain. The voice carried searing pain, slowly erasing feelings, images and memories that he didn’t want to lose.

He was in the desert again. The ominous cliff stood tall and jutted out to the starry night as Max dug his bare limbs underneath the copper soil, his hands studied the smoothness of Liz’s skin, watching it grow goose bumps and feeling Liz’s constant flutter underneath him caused him to groan. The wetness between her legs intensified and he felt himself grow wet. He didn’t care; he welcomed the painful, and yet pleasurable feeling of rain cascade between his legs and bead around his moist thighs that meshed with her outstretched legs. He felt the hard indent of the balls of her feet digging into him, pushing him further into her as his mouth sought out her and did the same. He breathed out warm air and breathed in Liz. IN and out his mouth sucked against hers. At the same time his body amalgamated with hers as he plunged deeper into the tight, wet core of her being until he felt his pelvic bones grinding against hers.

/it is impossible for you to mate with each other/ The voice whispered, almost whined like a never-ending foghorn. The voice, which oddly began to sound feminine, almost like Liz’s voice halted his onslaught on Liz’s body and she withered underneath him. He placed his hand on her body and felt another life living inside her now swollen body. The image changed and he was standing alongside Liz, a very pregnant Liz. Her hand continuously rubbed in slow circles around her belly and he felt happy for the first time in his life.

I remember this dream, Max said to himself. In the distance he heard the constant knocking, or tapping of fingers and …other voices, deep, high and breathy and high and whining voices screaming his name. He ignored them

I remember this dream. I had it every night. These dreams were a reminder that it was time for him to impregnate Liz and return home. The V shape symbol was the royal crest and a signal of procreating an heir to the throne of Antar.

/it is impossible for you to mate with each other/

This time it was an order. The voice dripped authority, smashed against Max’s thoughts and he felt himself sink lower into his mind. In the small places of his mind he was ensnared with commands. YOU LOVE TESS! The voice was joined by a chorus of siren like sounds and together, the choir chanted like monks TESS TESS TESS. Each chant lowered the temperate in the air until it snowed around Max’s knees. His mind became a prison. Max felt his soul become wash downed, murky, cold and dead like; each breath he inhaled was like swallowing knives, a thousand slices in his soul, he howled out in pain.

LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ LIZ Max chanted, screaming out against this voice in his head. This strangers voice that felt oddly familiar and foreign at the same time. Max was left alone as he felt his memories were eroded, and replaced with new ones, like the splices in films tape his memories were edited, deleted and updated without his consent, he began to forget where he was wondering in his mind and was suddenly brought back by a cold rush of water splattered on his face.

TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP

“Maxwell, would you stop doing that!” Michael snapped.
Max snapped. His eyes looked around at the faces of the people he knew and trusted. Tess was beside him. He felt nothing and yet his hand was caressing the face that felt like rubber. He leaned forward and max watched himself kiss Tess on the forehead. What the hell am I doing? Max speculated.

His eyes felt like burnt paper, he struggled to keep a straight face. What was he doing again? He remembered coming inside and…that’s it.
“Dog-tired?” Michael asked, his friend shrugged.
Max softly nodded. He didn’t know what to do really. He didn’t know what was going on. He felt confused, like something was missing but he couldn’t remember or what was missing to begin with.

“Uh..” Max huffed, and nodded in agreement. He would juggle monkeys or cross dress Rocky Horror style; anything for them to leave him alone. Max rubbed his face, trying to erase any physical signs of restlessness but failed. All he knew was that when he is alone and was free to roam inside his mind, Max didn’t know why but some moment before… he couldn’t remember what happened but he remembered being happy and he desperately wanted to find that again.

__

Liz was in heaven. Her eyes were shut but she felt a strong pair of muscular arms circling her body. Liz snuggled deeper into the hardened chest, rippled with perfect chiselled abs she felt something brush against her cheek, a cold metallic ring and Liz rolled out her tongue and licked.
“FUCK!” he cussed. It was Max...MAX!

Wait, Max doesn’t have a New York slur in his voice. Neither does his voice ring with arrogance. Liz popped her eyes open to find her body wrapped up with Zan, her legs were locked and she felt damp. Where was she damp? When Liz realised where, Liz untangled herself and gave herself a quick once over before looking up at Zan. She was in the middle of her bed and it was five pm, four hours since the orb set off. Four hours since she mind warped Max and somehow ended up in a heated embrace with Zan.

Wait, Liz stalled herself from using her powers. Liz knew he was still on the floor, shell-shocked as she was and being abruptly thrown onto the floor.
Liz knew she had vague fragments of a sexual dream that involved Max and somehow her body tangled herself up because Zan was lying next to her. Question was why?

“You have ten seconds before I start making you think you’re a girl and it aint pretty,” Liz told Zan, from her view point she could see him slumped against the wall, a few centimetres from the front veranda and sudden death if Liz threw him in that direction. Luckily it hasn’t happened, Liz thought. Yet.

“Can’t you just believe that me and you? Chica? Had something going on?”
“In an alternate universe but certainly not this one. You have five seconds,”
“Really? I have five seconds,” His lopsided grin reminded her of Max, smirking at her before he dove in again to kiss her. The same grin he had on when he said he Loved her.
“Five, Four-.”

“I don’t hear you” he sang in his sing-a-long kind of drawl/ mocking tone. The kind of tone that always irritated Liz to the bone.
“-Three…” Liz rolled her eyes. She had no time for this. She closed her mind and reached out for Zan but found her mind hitting a solid glass wall. A shield, Liz realised. He’s blocking me.

“Look Liz we have no time for mind games and don’t even try to your yours abilities. You’re still weak as it is,”
Liz heard him and opened her eyes. She was still angry with him but Zan did have a point. At this stage Liz didn’t feel like using her powers unless it was a life and death situation.

“You fainted and I carried you to your bed. I lay next to you for a while before I dozed off. That’s all. I woke up and found you…”Zan used his eyes to size her up and down, “Doing things to my body.” His voice trailed off and Liz was slaughtered with a train of desire running through her. She didn’t know wether to hit Zan or Fuck him. Probably both at this moment.

“Hey. I was asleep,” Liz reasoned, waggling her finger in the air at him.
“Didn’t seem like it,” Zan counted. She recognised his facial expression, desire. Lust, yearn, all honed on her and Liz felt the same way.
What? Inwardly shacking herself Liz shook her head and yawned, pretending she didn’t have any lustful thoughts towards Zan whatsoever.
“So, What happened that caused you to look like death?” Zan asked, his back now against the wall and his legs were sprayed apart nicely, enough space for Liz to…

“Uh..mindwarped the man..wait sexy man….uh the man who was with that country accent,” Liz waved her hand over her head, “You know the hair?”
Zan only bit his lower lip, and then peaked out his studded tongue to lick his lower lip stud that was positioned just above his chin. This gesture seemed highly erotic and she felt herself stiffen.

Get a grip! Liz mentally shook herself. Whatever she was feeling towards Zan was lust. Unspent desire that were reserved for Max? right….half of her was agreeing with her but the other part was confessing that she was attracted to Zan.

Maybe its because these feelings are alien related? She loved Max. She still did but she had to forget about him. He didn’t love her and maybe that’s why she was looking at Zan in a different light? No that would be wrong, using him for my own objective, and yet when she was with Max, she felt normal, human as an alien/hybrid person can be, and real, loved, whole

Liz looked over at Zan who hadn’t said anything but was restraining himself form laughing.
When she was alone with Zan she felt was strange, dangerous and undeniable urges towards him and he was so unpredictable. She felt too many emotions at once, and she felt one hundred percent alien, isolated from others and alone in her wild abyss. This scared her.
“Liz?” her name rolled off his tongue and he his silver stud winked at her. This name felt wrong coming from him, she would rather be called her birth name, Ava.

Tear coated her eyes. What’s happening to me. Zan’s not my type. The only reason I bond with him is that he’s been through similar shit as I have. I’ve lost everyone I cared about and love. I’ve lost Max. Liz felt her heart squeeze, I love him so much that I don’t want to see and yet I’m stopping myself from running over to his house and undo everything. I’m so confused I don’t know what happening anymore or what my heart tells me to do.

Maybe that’s why I’m feeling close to Zan…
Oh yeah and denial is not a river in Egypt?
Once she got herself together Liz started again. “Max was captured by Agent Daniel Pierce. The man behind the Special Unit bent of capturing and dissecting non-human life forms.” Liz noted that she said non-human life forms and not ‘us’. “I had to do a lot of mind warping when we broke into the base. We managed to get Max out but he was completely drained and doped with the drugs they injected him with. I discovered that I possess astral-project powers and can take on full form. Which can possibly lead to teleportation powers but I don’t know yet. It seemed that everyone on that base went searching for Max and Tess that night. Uh, we split up into teams and they were stranded. I scrambled the agent’s minds and it scared me that I could do it so easily now. Michael killed pierce to protect Max at one stage. We recurred Nasdeo much to my displeasure and he’s now pretending to be Pierce and shutting down the Unit. Kyle was shot and saved and we used these commination orbs to call home. It provided a message foretelling our destiny. I knew that message would destroy everyone’s life and relationships and so I mind warped them and now they’re happy,” Liz let out a low hiss. At lot of words and no babble...oh yeah GO LIZ!

“Wait so let me get this straight."Zan said, " They received a message from our home planet,” he struck out his thumb like he was ticking things off, or counting something.
“Yes,”
“Telling them that who they were and their destiny with each other,” his left index finger touched his right index finger and his eyes seemed to be glowing as his voice became, rough, less slurred, and clearer as well as louder with each word.
“Yep,”
“You thought they couldn’t handle it,” Zan figured, he shook his head and pressed his lips together.

“Not necessarily,” Liz began. She knew what she saw! Max confessing his love for Tess and Michael was already torn from killing Pierce and Isabel? Isabel was an emotional wreck. A revelation like this could destroy their relationships they hadn’t even begun to enjoy. And they would blame her and hate her for it.

“And YOU MINDWARPED THEM?” He exploded with rage. Her lamps exploded, one after another, shattering the bright bulls like popping balloons. Liz ducked underneath to escape the shower or glass falling onto her bed. “JESUS CHRIST WHAT KINDA SHIT WERE YOU BREATHING WHEN YOU DID THAT!”

OKKKAAAAYYYYY thanks for waiting and FYI- i've finished my projects for now so yay!!! and here's is the next part and hopefully you'll like it

Chapter 16

Zan got up, hurdled over her bed and his army black boots slammed next to her huddled form. He shoved her up against the wall and his hands became clamps. Liz seethed underneath his burning touch. It hurt like acid were eating away her flesh and revealing her muscles. Liz ducked her head but she felt a shove of his powers and her head slammed against the wall. A harsh ringing echoed in her ears, Liz whimpered as her long hair provided a temporarily shield from his face now changed into a monster. His eyes were two dark slits and his brows fused together revealing veins building on his forehead, one more push and the would burst, Liz whimpered.

He was barrelling towards her, she could hear his shoes pound her carpet and she backtracked to her wall and found herself sprawled against the cools surface.

“They know their destiny its just altered…a tiny bit,” Liz sighed, he wasn’t moving anywhere. His body was cat like in his movements and she felt helpless as he pressed his body up against hers, preventing any movement from her unless she wanted something lower to brush against his.
“Really,” He breathed, she could smell his breath. It smelt like pizza and cigarettes. That ash smell of paper and nicotine irritated her nose and she had an urge to sneeze.

“Mmmhmm,” Liz licked her dry lips. She couldn’t say anything, she was feeling those feelings again. The ones that aren’t her own but somehow manage to squirm inside her and cause butterflies to breed rapidly like rabbits. You know the feeling? That lustful feeling? Liz hated feeling like this, she wanted to give in and scream at the same time. However, Instinct took over and reverted over to feeling scared shitless.
“Tell me about this tiny bit,” When he said the word ‘tiny’ his lips brushed against her cheek and licked off her tears. This was borderline. Whatever Zan thinks he’s doing in the real world this is bordering on sexual assault and rape. That was the logical part of her brain saying that, not her physical part…if there is such a word that is dedicated to controlling your bodily functions…chemicals!!!

Chemicals were rushing in her body and everything hurt and she knew that one more push could make it all better and it made her sick to think about this when she was in love with Max.
“Well…they know who they were,” Liz countered
“ Psst …Uh-huh,” Zan rolled his eyes, like he was saying the word, ‘Duh’
“they just..think,” think what Liz? But she couldn’t became right at this moment she felt his hips dig into hers and she rolled out this uncountable moan and she felt her body convulse as sweat beaded around her forehead, flushing her cheeks. She could feel him against her inner thighs and at this moment she saw the some thing she once saw in Max’s eyes. Desire.

“What Liz…what is….”He closed his eyes in frustration and Liz could see his arms flex as he too struggled against this feeling. Something foreign was pulling them together and Liz didn’t know if she could fight it any longer, “yearning..” Zan moaned
“er..what..” Liz whispered. She wasn’t listening because she felt his left arm slid down her chest and creep underneath her top, edging close to her bra that was suddenly, very loose. But just as his hands was about to go somewhere that Liz didn’t know if she wanted him there or not. He shoved his hand away and he backed away, digging his hands in his pocket. Prodding his shoes into her carpet he continued.
“What did you do?”

“They know that we are a unit but we can’t…physically,”
“Physically do what?” Zan looked up. His face for a brief millisecond was visible raw with emotions, she could see tears “Fuck? We have the necessarily equipment and I hear it’s a very enjoyable experience well on my part that is”
“Mate with each and conceive children. I made them believe that we couldn’t conceive a child and they needed a human mate to do that.” Liz yelled out of frustration, combing her fingers through her hair to keep herself from blasting him.
“Well that’s gonna work but how are you gonna explain to them that their so called human mates can not survive in our atmosphere? Huh? Come on genius what do you got?”
“I’ll think of something alright but you can’t get involved “
“It’s a little late Princess,” Zan mocked.
“I prevented a lifetime of isolation from their loved ones,” Liz counted
“You took away their choice, that’s just it Liz. You didn’t give them a choice, you chose for them,”
“Max doesn’t love me and I couldn’t bear the thought of him loosing a loved one because of this stupid destiny,”
“How can he not love you Liz. You’re everything,”
“Not to him. I saw him Zan.” Liz adverted her eyes to the floor, she felt the tears welled up in her eyes, “ When I was out there risking my life for his and I saw him confessing his love to Tess.” Her voice cracked and she swallowed hard, mentally coaching herself to get this out of the open, “ Just as he left the compound, he said to her what he should have said to me,”

“Well don’t you sound selfish Liz? Were you too scared for him to break your heart in public because FYI men do it all the time to girls. When men can’t get something from their bitch they dump her in the most selfish way and place the blame on her and Liz? Max was probably doped up on drugs when he confessed his love for this what plastic boob chic? Who knows what he was thinking or seeing. Have you thought of asking him? Oh.” Zan abruptly stopped, allowing his harsh words to linger in the air, “. Wait you can’t cause you already mind warped him.” Zan laughed. “ Don’t you know how it feels to have someone mess with your mind? Your emotions? It makes you see things, do things, feel things that I or you wanna feel, Princess,”

“Don’t call me princess” Liz protested.
“What do you wan me to call you? A lair? A thief? A betrayer? Mind whore? What name will give you justification for what you’ve done?” He swore and threw his arms in the air, in defeat. “ That’s it. I’m outta here and I’m going to fix this.”
“Not your not?” Liz said, her voice wavered but she forced her legs to stand their ground. Zan wasn’t going to do that! If he undid everything then how would they accept now? They wouldn’t be able to trust her knowing that she did this to them.

“What are you gonna stop me with your powers. You can’t get through a simple mind shield let alone mind warp me!” Zan mocked.

Liz closed her eyes and felt her hot tears seeped out and beaded from her closed lids. She concentrated on collecting enough energy to protrude through his mind but something was jabbing at her brain, preventing her from using her own powers.
Liz tried again but hit a brick wall. Huh that’s funny I don’t remember? Liz quailed, she felt something or someone placing a brick wall around her mind, slowly squishing her brain from free will but she couldn’t shake the feeling of her own self trying to preventing herself from using her powers. Why am I trying to prevent myself from using my powers? Liz concentrated until something popped.
Slimly liquid pored from her nose she whimpered out his name before slamming onto the floor, a cold slap of death ringing in her ears and throughout her body that already felt like ashes. I hate it when you feel the pain before you black out. Liz let the blackness overtake her, and then she saw red.
__

It was harder to wake up because her body felt raw, tender and worn out. Her powers were drained and sleep crystals were embedded into her eyes. Her throat was burning, all her vocal cords were frayed but Liz managed to move her hands to her face and wipe away the gritty small pebbles of sleep form her itchy eyes. She found herself sprawled awkwardly on the floor and her eyes sought out her bed, or what was left of it. Her bed was reduced to a pile of ashes in a shape of a square. Her walls had black streaks of shadows, outlining in white what used to be there before….

She struggled to get up but winched, as her neck was bent awkwardly, quickly she rubbed it gingerly and tried to heal it.
“Zan?” Liz rasped. Did something happen? FBI? Skins?
She looked down at her hands and found blood splattered across her hands and covered her skin like paint. The smell of blood wafted and died around her.

Liz struggled to stand but placed her hand on her wall, leaving a handprint behind as she made her way around her room, clutching her head in agony as her brain still frazzled, sloshed around in its juices to find equilibrium.

As she became more alert, the sounds and smells became stronger. The sound of light bulbs sparking mini fireworks above her as she followed the blood trail of red footprint boots downstairs, the footprints became more sloppy, like thick paint and harder to register but her stomach felt sick. The strong metallic taste of her own blood only cause her more grief.
“Zan?” Liz sheepishly called out. She shouldn’t be saying anything. For all she knew he or she or it is still inside her house that caused this destruction.

Every wall had at least a couple of black scorches and blooded handprints. Her furniture was either ash or charcoal.
As Liz ventured into the kitchen she found Zan. He was leaning against the small island table for support. His stifled groans told Liz that he was conscious but very hurt.
His face was still unscathed but his chest had deep rivets of gashes along with nail marks and bite marks that left blood in its wake. Zan was currently pulling out a large butcher knife from his stomach and placing it on the tiled floor, only with fifty others and his eyes fell upon her standing by the archway. He struck out his hand and a near by chair flung outwards and smashed into Liz’s stomach, hurtling her across the room and her body mangled with the metal stairwell. After getting over the shock of having three poles of metal lodged into her broken legs that Zan broke with using his powers the chair smashed into her face. The pencil thin splinters dug themselves inside Liz’s skin, her face, her nose, throat, lips and even inside her eyes the splinters rooted itself underneath her skin.

The pain was indescribable, but it felt like tiny fire ants leaving small pinpricks of pain in her body, multiplied by a million. Liz moaned, her body numbing to the pain and she saw Zan stand up a few metres away and headed towards her, his hand still up and facing her.
“Zan…” Liz chocked out, she couldn’t move her body at all and Liz tried using her powers but the pain override any shred of energy she could have used to concentrate. Zan’s eyes held anger then shock and his hands waved around her and the pain subsidised, the feeling of wood scrapings inside her brain ceased. However there were still three metal poles form the stairwell that was pierced through her broken legs. Liz managed to block the pain out and once Zan realised he waved his hand over her broken legs, mending the bones and the metal poles removed and lay bent awkwardly on the floor.
“I’m so sorry, I thought… your eyes are no longer black.” Zan’s arms were around her picked her up form the stair well and placed her gingerly on the floor.

“What? Was it a skin? FBI? What?” Liz looked around the chaos and destruction around her. Someone very powerful must have entered the house, cloaked its presence like Zan and knocked her out and tortured Zan. Liz already tried using her powers on Zan and failed, that’s how powerful Zan was.
“Ava.” He replied, he turned his head and looked down at her. His eyes still held fear in them but Liz judged that he was no longer afraid but shell-shocked.
“Ava?” Liz questioned. Did he call Serena by her Antarian name, highly unlikely, although, when Liz was fifteen and first arrived in L.A her dupe wanted to be called Serena since she wasn’t the chosen Ava, the powerful and wise demi-goddess of Antar. So it couldn’t have been Serena since she was back in New York. However Liz didn’t know the full dynamics of Zan and Serena’s relationship, but it seemed that if Zan was here and Serena hadn’t arrived in Roswell looking for him then it is obvious that they weren’t together or have never been together.

“ Don’t ever underestimate yourself Liz. I’ve seen the power you contain just by looking at your aura that shines around you, and brightens when you’re with him. I guess that since you’ve mind warped everyone to believe your version of destiny that your alien side rebelled and through you off equilibrium, causing you to experience your first sunspot,”
The infamous Sunspot that causing any alien-human hybrid to turn from Mr Jekal to Mr Hyde. The balance between her alien side and her human side subsidised, causing her alien side to take over and obviously ….
“ Zan, are you saying that I did this,”
“ Yep,”

Her arms flung around him and he was caught off guard, “ I’m so-so sorry, I never meant to…you know that I wouldn’t….don’t you,” Liz cupped his cheeks and forced him to look into her red bloodshot eyes. “ I’m sorry,”
“ Hey, its okay,” Zan placed his hands on to of hers, his warm seeping into her frozen hands and slid her hands off his face and held them tightly in his hands.
“ I don’t want that to happen…I don’t …it feels like I’ve been violated like someone took over me and I blacked out,”
“ Yeah, defiantly a sun-spot symptoms,”
“ It just means that I’m gonna have to make it up to you,”
“ Really??”
“ Yeah, anything,”
“ Well, there’s only one solution to making you feel less guilty about what has happened and preventing you from experiencing any more sun-spots and making me feel happy is,” he looked at her wickedly, “ Is to undo what you have done,”
“ Un-mind warp the group,”
“ Bingo,”

_
“ You do realise that I’ve never been inside his house, let alone know where it is,” Liz scoffed as she and Zan snaked through the side streets of Max’s neighbourhood. “ I even had to look it up in the address book,”
Zan laughed as he continued to run effortlessly, his body moving as one with the moonlight and Liz did the same. Liz marvelled at Zan’s physical and mental abilities and realised that he too, had to learn to survive in the New Yorks streets, facing many enemies head on like she, which is something the Roswell group had never experienced. If there was a war heading towards Roswell Liz didn’t know if she had enough time to train them to fight the enemy.

Their full out sprinting slowed down to jogging as they crept closer. Once Max’s street was in sight they only had to cross a small playground park to enter his front driveway. On hands and knees Liz crawled like a tiger and scamped across the grass, her hands almost floating across the grass tips and they settled behind some shrubbery, hiding them from view as they waited until it was clear for them to sneak inside Max’s house undetected.

“Right,” Liz let out a low hiss as she looked through a small peephole in the bush to look across the road to see their destination. Max’s house was two-storey, with a patch of concrete and a basketball hoop to the right hand side of their driveway leading to a double door garage. Max’s door was just visible behind a weeping willow tree in the middle of a small square lawn front.

“ What’s the plan?” Zan asked her, which was odd coming from Max’s duplicate. Duplicate or not it felt wrong to have a leader asking her for a plan.
Liz glanced over at Zan peering inside the peephole before looking back at her. They were both silent, in trance with their gazes before Zan shook himself and looked away. “How about I unlock the door and you mind warp anyone who’s near, sneak into Max’s room and I’ll stand guard while you un-mind warp him,”
Liz nodded in agreement.

Zan had his eyes closed briefly before opening again. “ There are six people inside.” He looked at her, the moonlight shining a pale shimmer across his raggedly handsome face before he smirked. “ Five are watching a movie and taking it in turns to check on Max. They check every hour, which” Zan looked down at her silver watch on her left hand, “ Gives us forty-fives minutes,”
“ How did-“ Liz looked in between him and the house.
“ I don’t need to physically connect to reach out to people’s minds,” Zan looked at her teasingly, “ Do you?”

Liz huffed, and then growled at him. “ Let’s just get on with it alright?”
“Feisty,” Zan mumbled.
“ We walk like we’re invited Kay?”
“ Crystal,” Zan replied, already walking towards Max’s front drive way. Liz was looking left and right for onlookers, at the same time collecting her energy in small clusters ‘energy fuel’ that she can use to mind warp the group, and undo the entire mind warp.
They were crouched in front of the front door to make sure they weren’t seen before Zan made a small hole in the door; big enough from them to crawl through and once inside Zan closed the gap.

Now it was her job of making she and Zan invisible. Grasping tightly onto his hand Liz opted to try and open her eyes and walk around while at the same time using her powers. It was a little hard a first as her eyes began to drop, begging Liz to close them but she cracked her eyes open and managed to walk with Zan as her guide, they went past the set of stairs leading to the second level and through a small rumpus room towards a corridor that lead to Max’s room at the end of the hallway.

Max’s door was already open, but inside only a small beam of moonlight seeping though the half drawn curtains bathed Max’s limp body in the light, showing how lifeless and emotionless Max’s body had become. I did this to him, Liz said to herself. The slackness in his jaws, the shadow in his eyes and the dry scabbiness of his flesh as bone began to peak through his skin.

“ Has he been eating?” Liz whispered to Zan as she came out of the mind warp. Zan closed the door and “locked” it, he replied, “ I don’t think so,”
“ I did this to him,”

“ I won’t lie to you Liz, you picked the wrong time to mind warp him. He was venerable and he’s brain had already been fried.” Zan waved his hand over Max’s body, “ I feel his presence in there but its weak. His brain is soft putty.”
“How will it make it better,” Liz asked Zan about her un-mind warping him. Will it make it better or worse?
“ It’s a start Liz.” Zan replied. “ I didn’t say it wouldn’t be easy. He’s still got a long way to go but at least he will be free from his mental state,” Zan saw her face fall and he sent her a fleeting look, “ Look, Liz. You can do this,”

Liz nodded but realised that they were wasting time and quickly dove besides Max while Zan stood in front of the closet, ready to hide if someone happened to bust through the door.
Placing her each hand by his temples, her cold palms stinging his feverish skin Liz cupped his head in her hands and watched her energy glow soft amber before closing her eyes to concentrate.
It was like pulling a bathroom plug and watching the murky water drain away making the white tiles easier to see. The tiles were Max’s real memories while the murky water was Liz’s mind warp and all she had to do is pull the plug and unlock his mind.

She found the plug! Liz used her mind and nudged the surrounding molecules in her mind to break away and pull out the plug.
Pop! Success the plug was gone but left a gaping hole in Max’s mind. Liz watched in horror as blood began to flood the meaty cave mouth and Liz let go of her energy, like the feeling of water trickling down your skin she willed Max to hear her.

< Max, if you can hear me. Please, take my energy and heal yourself,” Liz healed most of the holes from un-mind warping him
< Liz????> Max’s voice was soft as a ghost’s whisper. She could barely hear it from the other noises in Max’s room and the faint noises drifting from the lounge room.
Liz tightened her grip on Max’s face and scrunched her face and shoved her energy around Max’s brain and it warped around him whole, willing him to be free from the mind warp and as the last dregs of the mind warp faded Liz started to feel a bit dizzy.
< LIZ?????? >

Liz felt the wave of tiredness inches closer to her; she dropped her eyes and found peace in the warm tide but then quickly shook herself and detached herself from Max’s mind.
His breathing remained normal, long deep puffs of deep sleep but she was successful. Hopefully when he wakes he would feel a little better
Liz flashed Zan a smile, even though she couldn’t see him she whispered a ‘yay’ to herself. Next task: un-mind warp the group.

Chapter 17

It was easier to heal the five minds, a.k.a. Isabel, Maria, Micahel, Alex and Tess. There wasn’t a lot to mind warp, just the destiny message.
Liz opened her eyes. Max was still asleep but at least his mind was healthy.
“I’ll come later and…I just wanted to say I’m sorry,” Liz’s voice crackled. She loved him and she was ready to hear him say those dreaded words: I don’t love you. She needed to hear them; maybe she would heal and learn to deal whilst saving the world from the pending alien invasion.
“I think it’s a little late for that Liz,” Isabel cried from her brother’s doorway. Liz knew that Isabel’s cry was a furious cry, full of pain, misery and hatred, hatred towards Liz. Liz looked up from her kneeling position besides Max’s bed. She got up and followed Isabel to the living room. Liz didn’t need to ask, she was going to get grilled while Max slept. Faintly, she could hear rain droplets pattering against the window Liz closed her eyes briefly, then opening them again, bracing her nerves for the worst.

The faces of hatred, misery got worse as Liz entered Max’s lounge room. The living room consisted of two sofas, a coffee table and a television on the far wall, however, Liz wasn’t into the minute details of the house while the aura of the people she cared about were black as obsidian. Just the feeling Liz got from their faces was enough to make her feel sick. Maria’s eyes were blotched from crying on Michael’s shirt, and Micahel. He wasn’t even looking at her. Alex was standing close to Isabel. Making sure she wasn’t going to jump me, Liz thought.

Only Tess stood firm and faced off Liz. Her hair wasn’t curled, it had been styled straight and it feel around her chest which Liz didn’t ogle at but to describe Tess’s human beauty she would have to say that any human would die for one feel of Tess’s breasts. Her skin was ivory where Liz’s skin tone and physique was more petite and natural, mosey and not outthere as Isabel and Tess were. Tess wore the breast plunging red top; a bikini top with a low v neck and a red push up bra, pushing her breast together and making them the focal point of her outfit, and a pair of black denim jeans. Tess’s eyes were blue fire as her lips were continuously trembling as if she was trying to control her anger.
“How DARE you!!!!” Tess spat; Liz felt her saliva slid down her high cheekbones. Isabel and Maria were nodding in agreement, murmuring and encouraging Tess to continue.
“You mind warped us—“Maria cried.

“But that doesn’t mean we are going to follow destiny,” Isabel added.
“Max belongs with me,” Tess spat on Liz again, this time it was full of mucus form her stomach. Liz let the mucus slid down her trembling chin.
“Michael belongs with me,” Maria shouted, she advanced to wards Liz and Wack! Liz felt the hard blow of Maria’s cold hand on her face, stinging her flesh.

“I belong with Alex and nothing can change that. Not even your bewitching powers can make us change the way we think about you,”
“I can’t believe I trusted you,” Isabel spat. Liz held up her hands.
“Hey, just lemmie explain,” Liz mumbled but she was distracted by her brother’s yelling.

“I thought you were my sister,” His voice was rough, rasped, harsh, and full of emotion. Liz could taste the bitterness of betrayal in her mouth and could feel her brother’s emotions washing over her.
“I hate you,” Her brother said, which he didn’t mean…not entirely. Liz knew deep down that he loved her but when she mind warped him, concealing the truth about his identity she knew she hit a nerve.

“Fuck you,” Typical Tess, always trying to make everyone feel like shit. Truthfully Liz couldn’t give a damn about her but deep down Liz secretly wished she could have what Tess had that entranced Max. What was so good about tess that Max couldn’t be with anyone else?
“Get out,” Isabel ordered. She was trying to be the leader of the group, holding the reigns until Max recovers from his severe traumatic experience.

“Never come back, liar, betrayer,” That was Tess again.
“Max loves me,” Tess had to really make a point here? Is she capable? Liz inwardly chuckled but she wouldn’t let them have their bashing sessions. She wanted to explain herself, then leave and never come back. They can fight the war without me, Liz decided.

“You nearly killed Max!” Maria spoke for the very first time. She wasn’t looking directly at her but she could feel, just by reading her face that she was in the same both with her brother. They trusted her and considered her family and family for them was an important thing. Can’t they understand? For the past eleven years she had to fend for herself, learn how to kill, how to mind warp, endure all kinds of torture until she became strong, more alien than human. She never had anyone in her life to call home or family. So, it was a little hard for Liz to start thinking that she actually has a family. Well, not anymore, Liz told herself.
“I’ll rather die than let my brother be with you mind-bitch,” Okay. That’s it. Liz fumed. Isabel went overboard. Liz needed them to shut up, right now.

Their voices all blurred together in an incoherent choir with an undertone of winy screams coming from Tess. Liz hugged her waist as she felt a huge chunk from her being ripped away from their anger. What hurt her more was that she deserved this.
“ SHUT UP and that’s a direct order,” Liz order Isabel and Michael and they obediently stopped, causing Maria, Alex and Tess to stop speaking as well.

“Perks of being Queenie,” Liz spat, crossing her arms defensively, “Until Max is awake my seal is active, which means you answer to me,” Liz crossed her arms. She thanked Nasdeo, despite him being a vile creature for telling her this. In between trying to kill her and running from the FBI he spoke to her about royal seals. He said that the king and queen both had seals and if the King happened to be severely ill, in a coma her seal would became active, gain King Rights until the king returned.

“Let me just say this and I’ll be out of your hair?” Liz said. “When I first arrived to Roswell, I only knew that there were three other people like then. Nasdeo gave me the destiny book, foretelling my future which indirectly told me that I was Max’s wife and Queen on Antar. I knew that this information of destiny would destroy your lives so I made sure that you knew the basics…and the destiny stuff? Well I don’t think Isabel and Michael will be getting together anytime soon and Max…Max and I..well…I don’t think he wants to have some book telling him what to do. I made the mistake of mindwarping Max when he was in that state and it caused him to be …like he is now….he’ll sleep for a couple more days and wakes up. Tell him I’m sorry and Tess. Love him until the day you die okay?”

Liz’s brown, strawberry-smelling hair was in front of her face, so they couldn’t see the tears or hear her voice breaking.
She felt something was shutting herself off, like her human side was howling out in agony while her alien side was jeering her on. Telling Liz that she could easily kill the pesky humans.
But she didn’t. Instead, she whispered, “I won’t bother you anymore…”
She turned around and headed outside in the cold night air. It started to rain, drenching her hair and sticking her clothes together like skin.
The rain gave her mild comfort and she just stood there for a while, allowing the cold to numb her body.
“Liz,” it was a voice that sounded like Max but Liz knew well enough to know that it was Zan standing behind her.
“They have no right….”He began; his words all strung together, making comments about her friends. Yes, she found their reactions to be extreme but who wouldn’t?????…They have every right to be sceptical about her and her powers. She dare not think about Max. If she did a piece inside her would snap and she wouldn’t be able to function properly.
“Yes they do Zan,” Liz interrupted. “I gave them my explanation so…what are you gonna do? I’m heading over to Kyle’s place. We can start training tomorrow,”
Kyle lived miles away as compared to Max’s house. Because of the rain blaring down, Liz was shivering by the time she got to Kyle’s house.
Liz knocked on his windowsill. A few moments later a very groggy Kyle poked his head out as he opened the window, he grimaced, “I can’t go out tonight Owen…”
“No Kyle. It’s me,” Liz shivered, her teeth chattering as she let out a low hiss before sneezing.
“Oh…”Kyle had his eyes open, his face was a little grim and Liz prayed that he won’t shut her out too. He backed away and let her inside. Liz stumbled in and grabbed onto Kyle’s chest for support. He was dry and warm whereas she was wet, cold, freezing, and numb. “Do you need some warm clothes?”
“Nah…I’m cool,” Liz waved her self over and felt her skin heat up and she was now dry, soft and warm. She nuzzled into Kyle’s neck and began to softly chuckle before breaking down and crying. She never showed her true feelings but Kyle had been the only person who accepted her, besides Max. Max was no longer an option anymore. “Please, Ky-le….I-I’m so-so sorry for not telling you…”Liz babble and let everything out and Kyle enveloped her in a big bear hug. Liz’s tears soaked into his dark blue shirt and he felt his heart tether into overdrive.

“I forgive you,” Kyle smiled softly as he stroked her hair. “I know…that we should talk…and we will have a talk with an explanation but…it wasn’t your secret to tell and I know you are loyal to the people you care about. I still hate Max, I don’t trust him but he saved my life so I dunno maybe this was a way for me to heal over the way my girlfriend left me for him.
“Te-tesss sh-she-le-fff-t you?” Liz looked up form the crook in his neck and stared into his face. “What’s so grand about her?”
“Besides her rack?” Kyle laughed. “I’m kidding and I don’t want to talk about it,” He quickly added. Liz nodded and let go of his additive warmth.
“Now,” Kyle said, laughing awkwardly. “Are you interested in ‘just friends’ spooning?”

Liz bit her lower lip to keep from laughing at Kyle’s lame joke to lighten up the mood. “Sure, why not? but don’t hog the covers. I’m a drooler,”
“Well I snore, scream and mumble in my sleep,” Kyle replied, shrugging his shoulders. She couldn’t see him in the dim light but she felt that he was happy and Liz felt a bit better knowing that if Kyle found it in his heart to forgive her then there was some hope in the world for her. Liz ducked underneath his covers and Kyle was behind her, his arms around her waist and Liz feel asleep in the arms of a caring friend who made her feel…human.
_

It was the next day and let me assure you, NOTHING HAPPENED!!!! But Kyle was right, he does sing in his sleep. Liz chewed on the last remains of her waffles, bacon and pancakes before sitting on the couch to watch some Jerry Springer.
Kyle sauntered in, dressed and showered. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a cowboy style dress shirt with a white shirt underneath.
“Hey there cowboy,” Liz joked.
“Hey space girl,” he said, “Next time, close your mouth cos you do drool,”
“And you so do snore,”
“ I do not,”
“And sing,” Liz counted, silencing Kyle as he sat down besides her.
“Fine but don’t tell Vicky or she’ll get paranoid,” He laughed and added, “Is there anything else you want to reveal about yourself?”
Liz thought calmly for a second, “There are eight pods,”
“Eight pods??” Kyle thought fuzzily, “What are you talking-“
Liz turned her face to look at him in the eye, “Max, Isabel, Michael and I were created in pods. But there is another set, our duplicates sent on insurance in case one of us dies.”
“…so you’re saying,”
“That there is another Max look-alike,” that was Zan’s voice booming from the kitchen. What the? Liz whirled around and found Zan standing there but not in his punk form. He looked a lot like Max actually but slightly longer hair and longer bangs, an eyebrow ring but that was it. He was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans and a skin hugging black shirt, showing of the outline of his rippled body and a leather jacket. Liz’s eyes burned with Lust and she sheepishly looked away.
“No way,” Kyle said, shaking his head. “This is some kind of sick joke you’re pulling,”
“Well she did say that she wanted to be truthful to ya?” Zan cocked his head to the side, “Cheating on me with a human I see Ava,”
“Shut up Zan,” Liz retorted, sticking out her tongue as Zan sat down with his legs slightly apart across from them on an opposite chair.
“Who’s this corn ball?” Zan asked,
“Kyle and he is no cornball. He forgave me,” Liz stressed.
Zan sniggered, “Figures…”
“What?” Liz squawked.

“Guys do I have to be referee here?” Liz almost forgot that Kyle was in the room. She was too busy leaning forward and playing a string match with Zan, trying not to laugh. “Now, I know you’re not Max so I’ll take Liz’s word. What are you doing here?”
“Training Liz to be queen, the perfect wife to bear Max’s children,” Zan mused, he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Liz and she knew what he was implying so she stuck out her tongue and glared at him.
“You mean Tess’s children.” Liz corrected, remembering what Tess said and she mouthed sorry to Kyle when she realised that Kyle was still suffering from his break up. She turned to Zan, “What are you doing here anyways?” Liz clapped her hands together, looking at Zan, he seemed…a bit off. She couldn’t tell but he kept staring at her like there was something on her face. Liz consciously placed her hand against her cheek to check if there was some dry drool or something.
“Well I did say I will be training you today so I thought that we can have lunch somewhere…” Zan waved his hand in a so-so gesture. “semi public but out of town. I still have the other me to worry about,”
“Wait…so the others,” Kyle began.

“Will never know until I find common ground with them…understand?” Liz ordered.
Kyle nodded. “Okay, I know a place so I’m driving,” Kyle replied. Zan nodded.
“I’m gonna take a leak. Meet you guys out there,” Zan winked at her and she scoffed, ignoring the pain in her chest, her sweaty palms and harsh breathing when he was near. He was just…so unnerving sometimes.
Once Zan was out of earshot Kyle added,” And by the way, Zan is constantly staring at you so I might have to do more than just protect you Liz,” he warned.

“What?” She yelped, is he serious? “Kyle? Hello me Alien you human,” Liz pointed to herself and Kyle, arching a confuse eyebrow at him.
“Okay but guys notice when…” he drew hearts in the air with his index finger.
“When what?”
“When a guy is attracted to some girl and let me tell you…it seems that Zan and Max have much more in common than you think,”
