Chapter 11

Maria eyed her friend curiously, as Liz dabbed on some clear lipgloss on. “What?” Liz asked curiously when she caught Maria’s look in the rear view mirror. “So, what is this like a date or something?” Liz turned around to look at Maria “No, I am not sure what it is.” She explained. “We are going with you.” Future Max cut in. “there’s no way I am letting you go alone.” Liz frowned but she wasn’t surprised. She had figured he would say that, because that’s what she had expected from “her” Max. As if on cue, her cell phone rings. Both Maria and Future Max lean in close to eavesdrop. “Hey!” the voice said. Liz smiled. “Hey!” she replied, “It’s me Zan. You remember me?” “Yes of course I do.” Liz responded. “Tonight? Yeah, sure, that’s fine. Where? Yeah I am sure I will find it.” She then hung up the phone. Maria arched her eyebrows. “Well?” “He’s going to meet me at the deli.” Liz replied.
When the Jetta parked not to far from the deli, Liz looked at herself in the mirror, and made sure her hair was smoothed out. She then, stepped out of the car. As Liz approached the glass door to the deli, she saw Zan sitting patiently at a booth. When she stepped in he smiled up at her genuinely “Hi” Liz replied, returning his smile as she slid into the seat across from him. “I thought maybe you weren’t coming.” Zan replied timidly. Liz gave him a crocked smirk. “Why would I stand you up?” Zan shrugged. “Dunno, maybe cuz we are so different.” Liz looked at him seriously. “We’re not as different as you think.” Zan smiles back at Liz. “Probably more than you know.” Liz arched an eyebrow at his remark. “Don’t count on that.” Zan looked her in the eyes curiously. “Who are you?”

Tess smiled at Max with satisfaction, whatever he saw it was big. Her plan was set in motion, once he started remembering her; he would fall in love with her again. When that happened, it would be time to find a way home. Tess rubbed Max’s back in a comfortingly. “The memories are fuzzy at first, but the more you focus, the clearer they become.” Max frowned. He didn’t want to restore his memories; instead he wanted to practice his newfound “connection” with Liz. Max was weary and suddenly hungry. “Wanna get a bite to eat?” Tess smiled and nodded.
When Max and Tess entered the crashdown, a very upset Michael waited for them. “We need to talk!” Michael hissed in Max’s ear as he grabbed Max by his bicep and dragged him off to the side.
Max shrugged Michael arm off glareing at him angrily. “Michael! What the hell!” he hissed at angrily.
“Where are Maria and Liz Max?” Max was surprised to find that Michael did not know Maria had taken off with Liz, but then he thought of Courtney. Glancing at the blonde “skin” waiting tables, Max arched his eyebrows, “ I don’t know.” Max said finally. Michael snorted. “Don’t give me that crap! You know Liz’s every move and I know Maria is with her!” Max wasn’t sure what to do, Liz told him that no one could know what they were doing, not even Michael. It was becoming apparent that Maria had meant to teach Michael a hard lesson. Max faked a sigh. “Liz and I haven’t been talking much since I caught her with Kyle.” Michael’s eyebrow shot up “That was true?” Max nodded. Michael glanced over at Tess, whom watching them intently. “So now you’re with Tess?” Max scratched his head. “What? No we’re just friends.” Ending the conversation there, Max joined Tess at one of the booths. “What was that all about?” she asked curiously. “Nothing.” He replied simply. “Nothing?” Tess asked incredulously “He looked like he was going to take your head off!” Max shrugged “Yeah, well that’s Michael for you.” Tess smiles sympathetically at Max, and then sighs. “Yeah I guess your right. So, where are Liz and Maria?” “Off on some “ woman’s week away from aliens” trip.” She arches an eyebrow at him. “For real?” Max nods. “Did she mention anything about her and Kyle?” Max frowned. It wasn’t hard pretending his displeasure, seeing lying with Kyle was like having the rug pulled from underneath him. Even now, knowing why Liz had pulled off the charade, it was still upsetting. “No. She just had this guilty look on his face.” Tess cringed. “Speaking of love sick fools,” Tess replied abruptly. Max arched an eyebrow at Tess. “Alex mentioned he’s planning to go to Sweden.” Max felt his blood go cold. She had started mind-warping Alex already! “What!” Max exclaimed with alarm. Then suddenly grew silent, realizing he was about to give himself away. Tess eyed him suspiciously. “Max are you okay?” Max squared his shoulders and tried to relax. “Yeah…fine.” He lied. The truth was, he wanted to ring the neck of the blonde, sitting across from him. “Yeah, yknow, I think I am going to say hi to Alex. I’ll be right back.” Tess smiles up at him adoringly as he walks off towards Alex’s direction.
“Hey Alex!” Max greeted the tall lanky teenager. Alex looked up from his book. “Hey Max.” Max lifted the side of Alex’s book and arched his eyebrows at him. “ Speaking Swedish for dummies?” he asked. Alex smirked at Max. “Yeah, the school has set me up with the exchange program.” Max stared at Alex curiously. “How are you feeling?” Alex frowned at Max’s question. “I’m feeling fine.” he replied slowly. He didn’t know how, but Max knew he would have to find a way to scan Alex’s brain for any damage that Tess’s mind warp might have created.

The question was direct and to the point. His brown eyes searched the depth of hers. Liz tore her eyes away from his gaze. “What do you mean who am I?” Zan tries to regain eye contact. “I mean where are you from, how old are you? Where do you live?” Zan explained. She didn’t know what to say, but mentioning her age was the safest direction. “I’m sixteen. I’m a junior in high school.” She replies. Zan smiles. “ I’m sixteen too.” “Do you go to one of the local high schools?” she asks looking around trying to keep the conversation off of her. “No.” Zan replies solemnly. At first Liz was taken aback. Max did very well in school, she just assumed so did Zan. “Really? Why?” She asked curiously. “Let’s just say my destiny, really doesn’t require me to go to school.” He stated. Liz rolled her eyes at him. “You don’t really expect me to buy that do you?” she asked. Zan shrugged “Doesn’t matter.” He then smiles warmly at her and leans closer to her “Lemme guess, you’re an honor student?” Liz blushes slightly at his observation. “ Maybe.” She replies timidly. Zan gives her a lopsided grin. “Science geek?” he asks. When the red in Liz’s face darkened slightly he knew the answer to his question. How ironic that the first human he is actually interested in, wants to be a scientist; the very people he and the others hide from. Still, Zan couldn’t stop the feeling of being drawn to her. “So do you believe in…..” “Aliens?” she finished for him. Zan nods. “Of course some of my best friends are….” Liz pales when; she realizes the information she had just about given away. “ I mean, so it seems.” She stammered. Liz was grateful when their food order was called. Zan got up and got their subs.
When they were done eating, Zan suggested that they go for a walk. Liz agreed reluctantly. Although New York City was not a good place to walk around at night, Liz was more worried about offering more info, than getting mugged.

“Quick duck!” Max exclaimed to Maria , who was watching everything with a set of binoculars. Max had been grateful for the distraction. He thought he was going to lose it, if he heard Maria tell him again, how much he and Zan looked alike. What was worse for Max, was hearing that Liz was making eyes at his duplicate. He was going to thoroughly enjoy, being the one to tell him that Liz was taken; by his dupe. Max and Maria peeked slightly over the dashboard. “looks like they‘re taking off, and I read their body language right, I know exactly where they are going.” Max look at Maria perplexed “Where?” he asked innocently. Maria arched an eyebrow. “Max you’re a guy, you figure it out.” Max frowned, and then suddenly his eyes went wide. “No!” he exclaimed, “We gotta stop them!” “ I was hoping you’d say that! I mean I can’t believe you put up with as much as you have.” Maria complains as they step out of the Jetta.

They walked in silence; side by side down the dark alley. “ Have you ever been to New York City before?” Zan asked breaking the silence. Liz look up at him and shook her head. Zan suddenly his breathe caught in his throat. The streetlight had done an amazing thing to Liz’s face. Zan didn’t think it was possible, but Liz looked more beautiful in the dim light. Just once, if only once, he wanted to taste her lips, to feel them pressed against his. Did she want that too? Again, he searched the depth of her eyes. When he found his answer, he grabbed Liz by the jacket, and pulled her up against him. His lips came down hard and fast. When he felt no resistance he smiled inwardly, with satisfaction.

Chapter 12

At first, Liz just stood there, Zan's lips moving over hers. And then suddenly she felt her resolve melt away as she lean into Zan and returned his kiss. Liz ignored the warning bells going off in her mind, that a "connection" was about to be made. Zan reminded her so much of Max, including the way his kisses, left her head, swimming with dreams.
Zan knew he was taking a big chance. Kissing Liz meant revealing who he was and what he was; But somehow, he felt his secret would be safe with her.When he felt the "connection" beginning, he relaxed and completely opened him self up.
Liz's mind was still swimming when she felt the familular feeling of a connection being made.Whe it dawned on her what could actually be revealed about her, she suddenly stiffened in Zan's embrace, and placed her petite hands on her chest to push him away. It was too late, Liz began to get "flashes".

*Flash*

Zan breaking through the membranes of his pod, soon follwed by his sister, then his "second" and then his wife.

*Flash*
Kal Langley, their protector, explaining their destiny. Zan's disappointment of not being the true king, but rather a back up, in case somthing happened to the "True King" and the others from the other set of pods.

Zan's anger and confusion of their protector choosing to abandon them.

Zan and the others accepting their lives as they are and choosing to never tell humans...until now.

Zan seeing Liz at the Itlian deli. He thought she was the most beautiful human he had ever seen.

Liz felt bad for Zan, she knew it must have been hard, finding out that he was only second best. That there was a world out there, that was his genetically, bit he would never return. That he would be alien, no matter what planet he was on. It was a sad destiny.

*Flash*
Liz standing in front of a mirror, applying her mother's favorite shade of lipstick.

Isabel and Max stepping of the bus for the first day of school. Liz is seeing him for the first time.
*Flash*
Liz wearing a cupcake dress her mom made. Liz is embarassed.
*Flash*
Liz is shot, but Zan sees a face similar to his, hover over in Liz's site. "Liz? Liz you have to look at me." Liz's life force is fading fast..but seconds later her heart is beating strong. Her wound completely healed.
"Don't tell anyone please." Max dashes out of the diner and into a jeep where a boy looking like Rath is driving the Jeep.
*Flash*
Max and Liz sharing their first Kiss. Then they kiss right b4 they jump into a river. Liz is watching Mayelena explain to Max, Isabel, Michael and Tess their destiny.
*Flash*
Max and Liz making love for the first time.

Suddenly, the connection is broken and Liz is hurled across the other side of the alley; her back, slams against the brick building. She slowly gets up and sees glowing red power floating around one of Zan's enclosed fists. Green power immediatly begins to crackle in Liz's hands.
"Who are you? what do you want from me!" he demands angrily. He was angry, immensely angry. She belonged to him. The "True King." Zan thought to himself bitterly. What was his name? Zan scanned his memories of the flashes he just saw. Max Evans was his name. Why was he always wanting what belongs to the "True King"? when was his heart's desires going to be truly his?
There is a sudden blur that crosses Liz's body and then, there he stood. He was a tad older than he expected him to be, actually Zan had expected Max Evans to be the exact age as him. Max Evans had his arm out stretched and his palm facing towards him. Blue energy created a force field between him and his dupe. Liz stands beside Max. "I am not here to hurt you. We are here to help." Zan snorts "Help me? I don't need help! What I need...and the others is to be left alone!"
She was confused. Liz did not understand Zan's sudden anger. Most guys would just politly back off, when they discovered Liz was dating Max Evans. Zan however was hurt and enraged. "Lonnie and Rath are going to betray you." Max stated, stunning Zan momentarily. Zan's eyes narrowed in on Max suspiciously. He the raised his hand up and began to walk backward away from them. "No! I don't believe you. It's a trick! First you take away my birthright, now you want to take away the only people who are loyal to me!" Zan shakes his head "I won't let you!"
Liz's heart broke for Zan. He lived his whole as a shadow. Never truly being able to claim anything as his own. His life, his destiny, the throne.All of those things belong to Max. There was Zan, hoping everyday that the others would someday disappear, so that, he could finally claim his life as his own.
"Listen to him Zan he's telling the truth. This Max, is from the future, we are trying to stop the destruction of earth." Liz pleaded. But Zan just rolled his eyes. "A few days from now, Antar's embassey is going to contact you. They wanna have a sit down, and discuss peace for the sister planets." Liz explains. Zan become obviously confused and his confident stance faulters. "Why contact me? Why not contact the "True King"? Zan asks. "Because, we are the only one who knows there are two sets." Max states, hoping the information will break through Zan's stobborness, the same stubborness he had within himself.
"He's tellin the truth." a voice said butting in. A pink and black haired girl, steps out from the shadows of the alley. "They contacted us a little while ago." Zan looked at Liz then to Ava nervously. "Ava what are you doing here?" Liz stared at the girl wideyed. Minus the the pink and black hair, she looked exactly like Tess. Green energy crackled from Liz's hands as she stared down Ava. Liz didn't know if Ava was a traitor to Zan but she wasn't willing to take the chance. As Liz raised her hand to Ava, Zan stood in front of her protectively. "What do you think your doing?" Liz sneered "Her dupe is one of the reasons we are here! Her name is Tess and she's a traitor!" Zan turned and and looked at Ava curiously, then turned to Liz again. "What did your Ava do?"
"She hasn't done it yet," Max explained "I am here to make sure she doesn't succeed. She plans on getting pregnant and returning to Antar. She was suppose to deliver Me, Michael and Isabel, to Kivar." Zan's eyes went wide when he heard the name of his murderer. "Max's protector abandoned them before they ever emerged from the pods, Max, Isabel, and Michael, emmerged from the pods, before Tess. The protector made a deal with the enemy and raised Tess to make sure he made good on that deal." Liz explained. Zan frowned. "So why not just confront her?" Max sighs and rubbs his forehead. "Because it's more involved than that. Tess is going to make a deal with Lonnie and Rath. They make good on that deal, but not before killing you." Ava covers her mouth and gasps. "Zan?" Ava asks fearfully as she grabs his arm. Zan immediatly looks at her, never hearing fear in her voice before. "Lonnie and Rath mentioned making sure you accept the embassary's offer.....or else." Zan clenched his jaw in anger, he had no choice but to believe them, those he never truly loved Ava, she always stood by him. She at least deserved his loyalty, even if at the moment he did not deserve hers. "What do you need me to do?"

Chapter13

When Max ,Zan,Ava and Liz all approached the car,Maria snorted. "There's no way they're all gonna fit into the Jetta!" peering at the car worriedly as everyone piled in. Liz gave Maria a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. When Maria saw Ava she gasped. "Is there no justice in the world?" Liz was about slip into the back seat when she noticed Maria's look of horror. Ava was about to sit in the passenger seat. Liz got out of the car and mumbled an embarassed apology to Ava, as she switched seats with the punk haired girl. Maria kept glancing at Ava through the rearveiw mirror. "So whats the deal with them two anyways?" She asked when the two dupes were distracted in conversation. Liz shrugged. "I'm not sure, they accepted their destiny when they were kids, but they just didn't grow close. At least he couldn't." Liz's cellphone suddenly rings. ''Hey, Liz how'd it go?" prsent Max asked. "Uh fine Max. We're just heading home now." Liz says swallowing hard, as a pang of guilt hits her hard. "We are going to have some last minute guests." It was at that moment, she felt like she had been in a trance , of some kind. What had she done? why had she allowed herself to be kissed by Zan? She loved Max with all her heart, and yet, she came so close to cheating on him. Maria turned and arched an eyebrow at her. She too, was wondering the same. Even with Courtney playing the dying alien, in Michael arms, Maria wouldn't stray. "They're coming here?" Max asked uncertain. "Not all of them, just Ava and Zan." Liz replied, willing away the nervousness out of her voice. "Who?" Max asked "Zan is your duplicate and Ava is Tess's" Liz explained. "Oh," Max replied "How is bringing them here going to help?" He laid back on his bed wearing wearing only pair of boxershorts. Liz sighed. "We are not sure yet. It was all we could think of to make sure he didn't get killed." It was Max who sighed next. "We'll think of something when they get here. They will have to stay at your place til we think of something. In the meantime, they will have to dress like we do." "Right." Liz replied in acknowledgement.
"Oh and hey Liz?" "Yeah?" she breathed. She heard him sigh softly."I missed you." Liz smiled warmly at his statment, but then blushed when she realized she now had an auidence. "Uh, Max i should let you go. Um, all eyes are on me." Max chuckles into the phone. "See ya when you get home." he says. "Yeah see ya." she replies and hits the power button on the phone. "Wimp!" Maria stated. Liz snorted "Maria!" Maria mimic Liz tone "What?" Liz arched an eyebrwo at her friend. "I can't believe you just called me that! This whole thing is just...complicated." Maria rolled her eyes and sighed. "When is things between you and Max NOT complicated?" It was a good point. And The involvement of Zan took the complication to a whole new level. Liz thought glumbly as she caught Zan's stare from the rearveiw mirror.
Two days later they arrived. As they stepped out of Maria's mother's Jetta, Zan and Ava stared at their new sorroundings. "Oh great," Zan grumbled. " The suburbs. These guys are total cornballs!" He mumbled to Ava who just smirked. The two punk aliens leaned against the Jetta side by side as Liz and Maria explained the situation with Tess. Future Max approached Liz. "Are you sure this will work?" Giving Zan a dissaproving look. "Do you really think Ava can pull off being Tess?" Both Future Max and Liz were stunned into silence when, with one way of her hand she made herself look exactly like Tess. "Uh, something tells me she's gonna do just fine." Liz replied staring at Ava's perfect transfomation. "What about Max?" Future Max asked folding his arms over his chest. It was somthing he wanted to confront Liz ever since he saw Liz kiss Zan. Not wanting to make the other occupants of the Jetta uncomfortable, Max had held his tongue til this moment. "What about Max?" Liz asked back. Max arched an eyebrow. "The kiss you and Zan shared." Liz looked down and kicked some dirt with the tip of her sneaker. "Zan kissed me, I did nothing to provoke him. I plan on telling Max everything. I just don't understand......how could i feel this way with Zan? What is this i am feeling?" Max scratched his head. " I am assuming since Zan and Max come the same "essence"you would naturally be drawn to Zan as well." Liz frowned "You mean like how Max was "drawn" towards Tess? But... why would i be "drawn" to either Zan or Max?"
It was more than he wanted to tell her , and probably more than he should've, but present day Max and Liz's relationship was in a vunurble state. Even though Max knew the truth about Liz and Kyle, his faith in Liz was still somewhat shaken. Liz's feelings of being "drawn" to Zan, would leave Max uncertain of his and Liz's future.

Chapter 14


She paced the abandoned sewer, they called their home angrily. "Where the hell is he!" she yelled. It wasn't like her brother, to just take off without saying something. Her lover, was reclined on a tattered old couch. " Yo! i betcha that Ava, has somthin to do with this." he stated. she snorted." I don't think so, she ain't dat stupid, she knows better than to fuck with me. This is Zan's doin.It is so like him to turn away, from anything related to our planet.Figures!". She exclaims throwing up her hands. "Cmon Rath," She ordered grabbing her favorite purple fuzzy jacket. The punk version of Michael Guerin got up obediently. "Just like a bulldog." Lonnie mused to herself. "Big and protective, but stupid as hell. She had every intention of dropping him like a bad habit, when they returned to Antar. She then would take her place at Kivar's side, and become queen of Antar.
"Lou! .....Yo Lou!" Rath called as he walked into the Itailin deli. A large pot belly man, witha stained white aron, and a receeding hairline came out from out back of the deli, wondering what the commotion was about. Lonnie stepped up to the cashier giving her most dazzeling smile. "Hi Lou, we're looking for Zan have ya seen him?" she asked. The large man reeked of sweat as he leaned in close to her. Lonnie was sure if he got any closer to her, she was sure to lose the contents of her stomache. Rath was in the far corner, swiping a fresh loaf of bread and shoving it inside his jacket. "Zan? Yeah i saw him, he was here not to long ago, chatting with some cute little brunette." Lonnie was taken aback. It was not like Zan to chat with the locals. None of them did really. Not unless they had to. "Local?" Lonnie asked. Lou thought for a moment then shook his head. "No actually, i believe she stepped into a car that had New Mexico plates." Lonnie frowned " New Mexico? what they hell is up with that?" The burly man wiped his sweating forehead with a hankercheif. "Must have been from Roswell." Lonnie looked up at him suspiciously."What makes you say that?" she asked feeling a ball of energy beginning to build in one of her hands. "Because the car had all kinds of aliens soveniers in her back window." the Italian man replied. "Thanks Lou." Lonnie said as she turned and walked out the deli, with Rath following close by. "Looks like we're taking a trip to New Mexico." she stated to Rath. The two dupes yank a man who had just stepped into his car, out chaged the plates, and took off.
Liz stared up and Max waiting for a reply. "What are you not telling me?" Future Max sighed and leaned against the car. "I can only tell you so much. There still alot of things , that are yet to be discovered. Those things Liz, were meant to be discovered, not told. Someday day soon, you'll discover your place in all of this. In the meantime, be content in knowing it won't be long." Liz frowned. It was not the reply she had hoped for, tonight she decided not to press the issue. Liz still had one more thing she had to do, before crawling into her warm bed. As she watched Future Max take off for the podchamber, Liz decided to put off any talks about the future for another time.
As Liz turned to bid her bestfriend goodnight, Liz found her self looking at Maria's familular look of guilt. Maria was feeling really bad about something, Liz noted, as the girl closed her cellphone.Liz approached her friend with uncertainty. "Maria? What is it?" Maria's shoulders slumped as she sighed. " Courtney passed away while we were gone. Her husk dried out completely." Liz cringed at the thought. "How's Michael taking it?" Liz asked. She knew her friend's guilt, came from wishing Courtney, had not been around. The thin blonde, stirred up quite a few problems between Maria and Michael, wich led to their break up. Maria shrugged "He is and he isn't, you know Michael, he's not always good at showing emotions. "So what's up with future boy?" Maria asked nodded in the direction in wich Future Max had left. Liz sighed and tucked her hair behind her ears. "You know, I think he was jealous about Zan kissing me." Maria smirked at her friend. "Well, the guy is your future husband. Wouldn't you get upset if you saw Ava kissing Max?" Maria got her answer when she saw Liz clench her jaw. "Thats what i thought." Maria said with a chuckle. "Think i should tell Max?" Liz asked seriously, really needing the right answer. Maria arched her eyebrows. "I think it would be unwize not to. You don't need to be giving Tess a way to weasel into Max's life." It was a good point, and Liz prayed that Max would not be hurt.
Maria stretches with a yawn. "Well, chica i best be going. I so need some sleep, before going over to spaceboy's tomorrow." Liz smiled slightly at her best friend." Good night Maria." Maria embraces Liz. As she does she glances in Ava's direction. "Good luck tonight." Liz gave Maria a puzzled look. Maria shook her head as she walked away and stepped into the Jetta. "This world is far too small for two Tess's." Liz had to agree; and she was grateful that Ava appeared to be nothing like Tess. When Maria was gone, the two dupes looked at Liz expectingly. "Ava, you can stay in my room tonight." the dupe nodded and gave Zan a questioning look. Ava could tell there was some kind of stress between him and the human.She was beyond getting jealous, there had always been a distance between them, so she resigned herself to being is close friend. She was sure "something" happened between the two, because the petite brunette could not look Zan in the eyes.
"Um Zan, you will be staying at Max's house." Liz stated uncertain what Zan's responce would be. As if on cue, a voice was heard behind Liz. "Hey." Max replied in responce. He embraced Liz from behind and kissed her temple. Liz smiled warmly "Hey." she replied turning to face him. Realizing suddenly that Zan was watching, she suddenly broke from Max's embrace. And there they stood "True" King and dupe face to face. Both, sizing each other up: both taking a confident stance. When Ava got over the shock of seeing her husband's dupe, she smirked at Liz. To the two girls, it was a rather amusing site. Max, was the one to break the awkward silence. "Hi." Max says holding out his hand. Zan frowned at first. "So this is the true king huh?" He thought to himself. "Not much to look at. What does she see in him?" Had it been any other situation, Zan would have made Max prove he was a better king, to prove his manhood; Zan suddenly gripped

Max's hand "Wassup I am Zan."
Liz finally let out the breath she didn't realize she was holding. The sooner she told Max about Zan, the better off she'd be. "I'm going to unlock the crashdown for you guys. Are you hungry?" Liz asked hoping to find a way to steal a few momments with Max. When the two dupes nodded, Liz smiled with relief. "Be back in a moment. Max will you show them down?" A few minutes later everyone was sitting at the counter, drinking cherrycoke and sharing childhood stories. Max and Liz discovered that Ava and Zan had the privledge of knowing their destiny early in their lives. Before leaving them to fend for themselves, the shapeshifter in form them of their destinys, and where to find the others in case of an emergecy.
"Tess was seperated from us," Max explained "We emerged from out pods before her. Somtime after that, our protector Nasedo found Tess and raised her as his daughter. When Tess had finally reunited with us, she was very determined to take her place as my wife again. Max spit out his last words bitterly. Ava and Zan looked at each other uncomfortably. "Zan and I" Ava began, looking down at her hot cocoa while swirling her spoon around in the warm rich drink. "Well' we never really took a spousal position in each others lives.It just never really work out that way." And there it was, the emotion evident in her eyes, for Zan and the humans to see. But Ava took some comfort in knowing that the other Zan did not see his Ava as his mate either. Even more interesting, he deeply loved this human girl, and risked exposing himself and the others to save her life. Is it possible that maybe she could that kind of love with human as well? Something in her soul told her that Zan would never love her, the way he had in their past lives. The more Ava listened to stories of their past lives,and the more stories she heard of Tess, the more she began to suspect, she wasn't always the loving wife she had thought she had been. She would never be queen of Antar again. One look in the other Zan's eyes confirmed it. There was something there, a spark that she never saw in her Zan's eyes. This Max had a look of power to him. He looked like a King. This girl named Liz seemed to fuel that spark, as if feeding and sustaining his life force. Ava may have been Zan's wife, but she was starting to see that this brown eyed beauty, was his soulmate. Sadly enough, there was only one Liz and she knew it would leave Zan feeling empty.
Taking Max by the hand Liz excused herself and Max , then took him out back.
When they were out of ear shot, Max smiled down at Liz "What? are you ready for a repeat performance?" Liz found herself grinning, as his hands roamed down her waist, across her hips downthe front of her thighs and then, "Wait!" Liz exclaimed. It had taken quite a bit of will power, to pull away from his sensual assault. She had longed for him to touch her that way again. But, she did not want Max finding out aboutZan kissing her, the hard way. "Max theres somthing i have to tell you." he frowned down at her, and the serious look that suddenly spread across her features. "What Liz? What is it?" he asked his hands now on her shoulders." Max, Zan kissed me." Max's eyebrow shot up. "He what?" Max replied shooting an annoyed look in Zan's general direction. " Max, I..I..i didnt try to stop him." Liz stammered. Max was now looking at Liz."You what?...Why not?" Liz shrugged slightly "I was curious, i guess. You know, to see if it would be the same." Max arched an eyebrow at her. "was it?" he asked. "Yknow," she replied "That's the weird thing, it was. I didnt know him well at all, and yet i felt like i knew him, as well as i know you. How can that be?" Max didn't have answer to her question. Although Zan was an exact genetic duplication of him, Zan by all means, was his own person. Was there there a connection? First Liz gets her own powers, and now this? Was Liz connected to him and the others? Was it possible Liz was an hybrid somehow? thousands more questions sarm in Max's thoughts, but for now, he would put a hold on seeking the answers. They had to take care of Tess.

Chapter 15


Max and Liz approached the dupes with a plan. After kissing Liz goodnight, Max took off for his home with Zan. Liz noticed Ava staring at her curiously, as she approached the counter. Liz cocked and eyebrow at the pink and black haired girl.
"What?" Ava blushed when she realized she had been staring. "So, tell me Liz, how exactly did you and Max meet?" Liz sat in a chair next to Ava. "Well, i was was working here that day, two men were arguing and one of them, pulled out a gun. The gun went off and i was shot. I was dying, but Max brought me back. He saved my life." Liz explained, her face solomn. Ava stared at Liz with awe " he brought you back?" she barely wispered. Liz nodded in responce. "So what about you and Zan?" Liz asked. Ava sighed "I love Zan, but he never loved me." Liz looks at Ava uncomfortably. "Why do you say that?" Ava gives Liz a knowing look but answers her question anyways."He's loyal and all, but his heart is somewhere else. It certainly never belonged to me." Liz was feeling really uncomfortable about the present topic, and was certainly regretting bringing it up. "Look Ava I am sorry, i didn't mean to, um what mean to say is.." Ava shook her head "Look,don't sweat it alright? like i said, his heart never belonged to me." Liz gave Ava an amused look. "What?" Ava asked. She didn't understand the look and found it annoying. She wiped the chocolate moustache with the sleeve of her sweater. Liz smiled. "When Tess came to Roswell, she made it quite clear why she had arrived. She never forgets to remind me or Max of his "destiny" and her place in it." Ava frowned, feeling sorry for Liz. "Thats just because she wasn't raised with Max, had she been, she would have came to the same conclusion i have." Liz arched an eyebrow "What's that?" Liz asks. Ava looked at Liz sqaure in the eyes."We decide what our destiny is. No book or communication orb can decide it for us. Sure, we were egineered to go back to antar and liberate our people.But we are here on earth, and we are free to decide."
Liz smiled again. She truly liked this girl. Even though she looked like Tess on the outside, she was the complete opposite on the inside. "More cocoa?" Liz offered as she gathered up her dishes. Ava shook her head and stretched. "No thanks. I am exhausted, where do i crash?"After putting the dishes in the sink, Liz rushed upstairs to the apartment, then came back down with a pillow and several blankets. "These should keep you warm." Liz said handing the blankets to Ava.
There was an awkward silence between the two teenage boys as Max drove home. It was creepy looking at one's own clone. Zan had altered his appearence, to look like Max, in preperation for the next day.They had been sitting in silence for quite some time , when Max decided to break the silence. "Liz told me how you and her um, you know, kissed. Zan smirked arrogantly at Max. "Did she now.." it was more of a taunt than a question. "That sweet thing is quite the kisser." Zan mused, as he watched Max's face for a reaction.It didnt take long, Max grit his jaw in annoyance. Max knew what Zan was tryng to do. He knew this was coming, the moment they met face to face and sized each other up."So, um have you guys done the deed yet?" Max griped the steering wheel tighter. Max heard Zan chuckle lightly next to him. "Well?" he asked again seeing Max's resolve faulter. "That's none of your business." Max replied trying to keep his tone even. "You can tell me," Zan replied." After all her having sex with you, she might as well be having sex with me." Suddenly the jeep came to a screeching halt, and Zan was flung from the passenger seat, to the dusty ground. " We are not the same!" Max exclaims his hand out stretched and glowing with his energy. Zan got up and dusted himself off." As for Liz, she's mine!"Max stated angrily "You think because she let you kiss her it means somthing?" Zan snorted at Max "You know, your just the way I i thought you'd be.All high and mighty cuz your the "true" king! Well you know what? It takes more than some"Royal Seal" to be a king." Max narrowed his eyes on Zan "You're Jealous?" Zan rolled his eyes. "You wish!" Max stepped up close to Zan til they were practically nose to nose. "You remember this, while you in Roswell. I'm the king. We have a job to do, and I'm running the show. As, for Liz she's off limits to you!" Zan sneered at Max as he turned to get into the jeep "I don't see your name on her." Zan replied. This time it was Max who gave an arrogant smirk. "Well, obviously you didn't see into her soul." Zan frowned in puzzlement as he hopped back into the jeep. The rest of the ride back to Max's house was in silence.
after brushing her teething and getting dressed into her pajamas, Liz pulled out her her journal.


Since Tess, Came into Roswell, everyone's lives had been turn upside down.Amazingly enough, when her dupe entered Roswell, she brought with her, hope. It's amazing how one's upbringing,can really impact one's life. Ava was raised in the sewers of NewYork, with no desire to return to Antar. Then there was Tess; and she despretly wants to reclaim her life AND her former husband on Antar.

Liz closed her journal, and returned it to it's hiding place. She smiled as she caught herself glancing out her window, to see if anyone had been watching her. It had been quite some time, since the day Michael had taken her journal. Still she was cautisious still the same. Liz slipped under her covers and drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 16

Future Max sat alone in the podchamber. Seeing Zan unnerved him. Seeing Liz kiss him, was more than he wanted to see. Then as quickly as the feelings appeared , they disappeared. Max rakes a hand through his hair as he pulls out the photo from his back pocket. There was someone new in the photo. At first, he was a mere stranger, and then "Uncle Zan!" Maria Alora cried out in excitment, from the depth of Future Max's past memories. Her brown eyes sparkled in obvious affection.He was her favorite uncle. His blonde hair was short and spikey. His eyes were sky blue. "I need my own identity." Max remembered him saying not too long after bringing him to Roswell. One day, Zan popped back into Roswell sporting the blonde locks and blue eyes.He nearly got himself blasted off the planet. Zan stared down at the girl affectionatly.Since the day he first held her, Maria Alora and Zan had a strong bond. Maybe it was because Zan had loved children, or maybe because he and Max shared the same genetic makeup, Future Max wasn't sure.
As Max closes his eyes, an onslught of memories begin to flood his mind. Tess is exposed for the traitor that she is. She puts up an innocent front, tries to blame Nasedo.Shes furious and uses her powers. Theres a blinding light and someone cries out. "Liz!" Max recognizes it as hiw own voice calling out. As the dust settles, a door opens and sunlight blinds everyone as it pours into the room. Two figures step in from the bright light. Micheal and Isabel are thrown against the wall by an unseen force. "Mind if we join the party?" an New York accented voice asks arrogantly. Future Max's eyes snap open "Liz!" he whispers loudly. He gets up and rushes out of the pod chamber.
It's 8am and Tess is standing in front of the bathroom mirror, admiring how well, her favorite black top fit. With a quick wave of her hand, the perfect shades of eye shadow and lipgloss instantaneously appeared.Another wave and her curly blonde hair, hung loosely."Perfect!" she replied at her reflection with a large grin. A sudden banging from the bathroom door gave her a start. "There are other people living in this house too Tess!" the sheriff complained on the other side.She held out a opened hand at the door, sorely tempted to knock the human off his feet. She gave a resigning sigh. If she is to win over Max, she had to accept these "humans" and try to "be" more human herself. Giving a disgusted snort, she unlocked the door, and stepped out. "All, done sheriff."
As she drove to school, Tess tried to come up several ways to get Max alone with her. She was sure, if she could get alone with Max for at least ten minutes, that she could show him the er of his ways.After all; they were destined to be together, he was made for her, and she for him. Liz or no Liz; that's what nesado had said. Tess had sensed that Nasedo had held somthing back though, that something, Tess thought, had somthing to do with Liz. She had seen the look Nasedo had given Liz, on several occasions, when he thought she hadn't been looking. It was almost as if Liz was an actual threat to him, and to their plan. Tess had suggested several times, for Nesado to kill her But Nesado had been watching Max for a while before making his presence known and he had seen how Max had been with Liz."Killing her, will mean loosing him." Nasedo's words echoed in her head. "You're going to have to trust the instincts, and use the gifts they have given you." Tess's brow furrowed in frustration.As strong as the attraction between her and Max had been, Liz still remained in his heart. Even now, with her having had slept with Kyle, she remains. Tess slams a fist down on the steering wheel in anger. "What do i have to do , to get her out of the picture?" she asked out loud angrily.
Zan stood out front of Roswell High nervously.He had straighten out his shirt and adjusted his backpack several times. Max had told him, that he had promised to walk Tess to her classes that day. Ava had never deliberatly tried to win over his affections, so having Max's Ava attempting to do so, made Zan uncomfortable.Instead, Zan pretended it was Liz that he had planned to meet out front of the school. Her brown hair flowing in the breeze, her eyes sparkling as she smiled up at him. "Hi Max!" Tess greeted sweetly. Zan glanced at Tess confused, as his day dream faded away. "Are you okay?" she asked as concern washed over her face. "Huh?" Zan asked stil confused, then his eyebrows shot up. "Uh yeah, long night." Tess arched an eyebrow at him "So how did that talk with Liz go?" Zan sighed "She still doesn't wanna talk about." Tess frowned "Really?" Zan nodded. She looked very simiular to his Ava; this Tess. Unlike his Ava, this girl had a cold side to her. Zan could almost smell the evil coming from her pores. The others had every right to mistrust this girl, she was dangerous, and played every card she had. Zan could tell from Tess's choice of clothing, that the girl had grown despret for Max's affections. Tess smiled at Zan ,mistaking his observence as a look of interest."So uh Max, do you want to try some more memory retrevial techniques?" Zan was stunned.How was it, that this girl knew how to do such a thing? Why hadn't their protector teach them this "memory technique and theirs had? Most of all, why hadn't Max told him of this? At that moment, Zan was seriously considering to continue this charade of being Max.Zan wanted to know about who he once was.If Max was so concerned about being more human, let him be, but Zan had other plans. He faked a smile,"Sure." Zan replied. Tess smiled again and linked her arm in his.
On the other end of of the school parking lot, Max Ava and Liz were crouched down watching Zan. "Ugh! that bitch!" Liz hissed "will you look at that outfit she's wearing!" Max cleared his throat "Yeah, thats blouse is um rather revealing." Liz arched an eyebrow at Max's reddening face. Ava smirked at both of them. Liz looked at Ava "Do you think you can look like that slu......I mean do you think you can replicate that outfit?" Max flashed Liz a warning look. Ava just chuckles quietly at them and waved a hand over her form. "Amazing."Liz stated at Ava's perfect transformation, bewteen gritted teeth. "Okay,I am gonna take Ava over to the Valenti's house, Liz you just head to class. Try to pretend everythings normal." Max said as all of them stood up slowly. Liz gave a snort. "Normal Max? since when is anything alien related, normal?" Ava and Max smirked at Liz."Just try to stay away from Zan and Tess, okay?" Max pleaded. Liz sighed then nodded. Max took Liz in one of his arms, and kissed her gently. " I'll be back soon." Liz nodded and watch the two hybrids hop into the Jeep and take off.
Liz was still seething mad when she stepped through the highschool doors.She found Tess using her feminine wiles absolutly disgusting."Ugh! did you see what Czechoslovakian tramp was wearing?" Maria snorted. Liz crinkled up her nose. "Yes." she replied dryly. "I mean can she get any more obvious?" Maria asked obviously annoyed. Liz could always count on Maria taking the same side as her when it came to Tess and she was glad for that. " How's Michael doing?" Liz asked wanting to get off the topic of Tess.Maria rolled her eyes and sighed. "The same, moody and distant. But now, he's moody at me...for not telling him i was taking off to NewYork." Liz's eyes went wide "Maria you didn't tell him did you?" Maria shook her head, "No, i made up some lie about needing my space, and that you and i had a get away from aliens trip.But Liz, I hate lying to Michael, i hope whatever you guys got planned, it happens soon." Liz bit her bottom lip nervously, as he and Maria passed Zan and Tess in the hall. Although it could have been her imagintion, she could have sworn Tess had given Liz a look of triumph. Liz couldn't wait to wipe the smirk off the blonde's face, when she realizes that Liz had some cool powers of her own."Liz! you need to calm down!" Maria said urgently, as she takes Liz's hand and leads her to a private area in the hallway."Look." Maria says pointing to Liz's energy filled hand.

Chapter 17

Max and Ava were parked in the jeep a few buildings away from the Valenti home. "Damn!" Max cursed. "Both Kyle and Sheriff are home." Max frowned and bit on a nail. "It's okay, i can handle it." Ava assured him confidently."I mean, its easy right? all I have to do is act like a bitch right?" The amusing comment caught Max off gaurd and he chuckled quietly. "Who told you that?" Max asked after clearing his throat. "Well, Liz said..." Ava began. Max chuckles again."Ava, Liz hates Tess, and probably becuase the girl is not trust worthy but acts so sweet in front of our face." Ava arches an eyebrow. "Backstabber huh?" she asks. Max nods "Ugh!" Ava retorts "I hate them kind of women!" Ava then gathered her books from at her feet, and stepped out of the Jeep."Well, here goes nothing." she said as she walked away. She walked into the Valenti home, to find Sheriff Valenti on the couch in his uniform reading the day's paper. The sheriff looks up at Ava confused. "Tess? what are you doing home? Is there something wrong?" He gets up suddenly. Ava, puts up a hand. "No everything is fine! I just forgot a few papers in my room." Jim Valenti raised his eyebrows at Tess, forget her paper work? It was unlike her. Jim shrugged and sat back down. With the way she has been pining over Max lately, its possiable that she could slip now again. When he heard her fumbling around in her room, he gave a worried glance in the room's direction.Had he just heard cursing?Tess never cursed. Well, very rarely anyways.
Ava stood in the middle of the small bedroom studying it." if i had something to hide, where would i hide it?" she asked herself outloud. Then, it came to her, she wouldn't hide it.Not where humans could find it anyways. Ava closed her eyes and concentrated on any energy fluxuations. She was mentally reaching out with her mind, " feeling" the room top to bottom. Then, there is was! A small flux, gently pulsating above the head of Tess's bed. Ava smiled with satisfaction as she waved a hand over the area and instant a hidden compartment revealed itself. Ava smirked "Smart." she said outloud. She stuck her hand in and felt around. Immediatly her fingers touch a smooth leathery object,and she slowly pulled it out. She frowned in disappointment.But then, Ava was learning that her dupe was full of dissappointments. She hadn't expected her dupe to keep a diary. It was somrthing she had expected from Liz, it suited her. Cornball Liz, writing her thoughts away about her true love Max and the true origin of his heritidge. Ava believed that people who kept diaries, kept secrets, but she'd rather have Liz Parker writing their special secret in her diary, than to have her dupe, Tess, writing her secret plans for thier demise in this one. The diary was covered in black leather, the edges of the pages were gold. The diary, was closed with the use of a buckle that was part of the covering. After opening the diary and thumbing through a few pages, Ava was surprized to find she and Tess shared the same handwriting. After, thumbing through more pages, Ava discovered the deep dark secret that Tess, was hiding: A secret she too would have hid, had she known. Tess's plans to betray the other hybrids, was not her first offence.It would not be the first time the king would die as a result of her deception. Not wanting to believe, she scanned even more pages, as she did, a piece of paper slip out and fell to the floor. Ava crouched down and picked up the paper, unfolding it as she stood up.
It was a letter from their protector Nasedo.The letter gave detailed information about the ship they crashed in, and how it worked.There was also a lifelike drawing, of a crystal used to activate the ship."A backup plan, in case the granilith was never found." Ava mumbled to herself. This Ava was beginning to remind her more and more like Lonnie and Rath. Pretending to be loyal, but having a personal agenda. Ava gave a snort of disgust. Max was better off with with cornball Liz, than this Tess. A female voice coming from outside the bedroom suddenly sent Ava on high alert.What was she doing home already?
Max had been watching the Valenti home the whole time, Ava was in there. The moment he Tess's car pull up, he knew they were in trouble. He stood there throwing a panic look in the Valenti's home's direction. Was she caught? Why hadn't she come out yet? He needed to come up with an idea and fast!
Jim stood up bewildered. "Tess, how did you...." Jim asked looking towards Tess's bedroom than to Tess confused and pointing. Jim laughs at himself. It had to be some tricky alien power. Tess stood there with with her arms crossed, puzzled. Tess always found humans to strange and a nuisance but, this was the strangest she seen the sheriff be.He was obviously confused about somthing. Tess sighs annoyingly she hoped she wasn't going to have to explain her connection to the others again. "What?" she asked waiting for the usual questions. Jim shakes his head. "Oh, it's nothing. I was just trying to figure out, how you got outside, from you bedroom so fast." Tess frowned at him."Sheriff what are you talking about?" She asks. " I havent been home til now." Jim shakes his head."No, i saw you. You said you had to get some papers you left in your room." Tess's face went pale."That wasn't me!" Jim and Tess flashed each other a knowing look and bolted towards the bedroom, But when the door flew open, the room was empty. The Sheriff put his gun down, that he had pulled out on instinct. "Whoever it was," Jim said pointing to the revealed hiding spot in the wall.. "Looks like they found what they were looking for." Tess felt her heart drop to her feet. She didn't know what frightened her more, the fact that some alien shapeshifted into her, or that someone had her diary. Tess bit her bottom lip, she was no longer in control.

Chapter 18


Max stared at the Valenti home indecsively. He didn't know wether or not Ava could handle the situation on her own, or if he should rush into the building and create a diversion. As luck would have it., Ava came rushing to the jeep. Max stared at her with uncertainty. Ava rushed into the jeep "Go!" she exclaimed. Max immediatlly started up the car. "Did they see you?" he asked looking into the rearveiw window. Ava shook her head. "No,I don't think so." Max noticed the black leather book in Ava's hands. "What do you have there?" Ava held it up and smiled.
Later that evening, Ava held up the diary for the others to see. "It's Tess's diary." Liz suddenly stood up and snatched the diary from Ava"s hand. "I wanna see what this bitch is up to." Liz said vehnemesly. Maria hovered close over Liz's shoulder not taking her eyes of the diary.Liz skimmed through the pages stopping now and again, to read a little more in depth.
"This came with the book." Ava said handing the folded peice of paper to Max.Liz and Maria quickly joined Ma'x side "Its instructions" Max explains."On how to activate the ship, in case the granilith is never found." Everyone was quiet, as they looked around at each other. Maria broke the silence."Look Max, if theres a chance of you, Isabel, Michael going home, don't you think you should let Isabel and Michael in on whats going on?" Max's eyes sought out Liz's, hopeing to find some wizdom in their depths. "It's your decision Max." Max rakes a hand through his hair, "First of all, not one is going to Antar just of yet. Keeping Michael and Isabel out of this is keeping them safe." Maria frowned at Max's logic."Safe? How are they safe Max? They completely blind! If you and Liz somehow changed the timeline, god knows who Tess's target is! They need to know so they can protect themselves!" Maria was shaking with emotion. She and Michael may have temporarily gone their seperate ways,but she wasnt about to let Max make this decision for Isabel and Michael. Liz bit her bottom lip, she had to admit, Maria had a point. "Maria's right Max, you should tell them, i know you want to protect them. I know what your future self told me is frightning, but right now, when it comes to Tess, they are sitting ducks."Liz takes the instructions from Max. "Call them."
Isabel is sitting on her bed, waving her hand over her toes, trying out different shades of polish, when the phone rings. "Isabel!" Diane Evans calls up to her. "It's for you." she picks up the phone next to her bed. "Hello?" she asks continuing to change shades of polish. "Iz its me Max." Isabel frowns "Max? what is it? where are you?" she hears only him breathing for a moment,and she feels a chill run down her spine. "Max whats wrong?" she asks again. "Meet me at Liz's balcony, bring Alex and Michael. "Max!" Isabel shrieked " You're scaring me! tell me whats wrong!" She heard him sigh. "We have a traitor amoung us. Iz dont tell Tess, just bring you and Michael and Alex." Isabel was confused by Max's request not to bring along Tess. He seemed to be warming up to her and wanted to include her. Somthing wasn't right, but for now she would do as he request and leave the shorter blonde at home."Fine Max but you better have a good explanation." with that, she hung up the phone.
Fifteen minutes later, Alex and the other two hybrids joined the group, that had collected on Liz's rooftop. They stood there silently, as the events of the last few days was explained to them.
Alex's, future death. Future Max, the end of the world. It wasn't until Ava, and Zan stepped out from Liz's bedroom, did they realize that a prank was not being pulled on them. Isabel paled a little and sat down. Michael however did not move. His stood there arms crossed and a dangerous glint flickered in his eyes."What gives you the right to make those kind of decisions for us Maxwell?" he growled."I mean were you ever going to tell us?" Maria stood up "He meant well Michael." she stated in Max's defence. Michael flashed her an angry look. " Girls trip away huh?" Maria flinched. She hadn't wanted to lie to Michael but, she was angry about the whole Courtney situation. She needed time away."Yeah well, you were so caught up over some woman! why does it matter now?" she spat at him. Liz stood up angrily "Enough already! can we just focus here for a minute?" Everyone became silent."This isnt the time to be fighting over who's was right or wrong. The thing we need to focus on now is Tess." Liz unfolds the paper she had been holding. "It says, I have made a bargin with Kihvar. You will allowed to return to Antar, as long as you bring back an heir to the throne. There you will return to Khivar, your lover, and rule as queen by his side." "Lover?" Max and Isabel asked in unison. Michael walks over and takes the paper from Liz. "I thought, Vilandra was Khivar's lover?" Liz shrugged "It's possible he was just using her to take down the king. He could have had other lovers."
Alex just stands there scratching his head. Tess was going to kill him? how and why? "Um i know you all are concerned about, Tess being a traitor ontop of being a tramp!" Alex smirked in Liz and Maria's direction, "But when are we going to get to the part where we prevent her from killing me?" There was an awkward silence bewteen them all. Max spoke up. "Alex? um about your trip to Sweden? when were you planning to go?" Alex tapped his fingers on his chin on concentration. He tapped them in a rythmic patteren that no one seem to catch on to. "Not sure really, the idea just came to me the other day." Max approached Alex "I need you to stand still, i am going to check your mind, to see if Tess has mindwarped you." Alex nodded and stood still, as Max let his hands hover over his head. Slowly, Max reached out with his seneses. feeling every nerve ending checking, for alterations. First time around, Max felt nothing,so he defined his search to slight alterations. He was about half way through, when he sensed something...it was as minor as a mere "suggestion" small and limited to one area. There was slight brusing around the area , it was almost as if Alex had tried to fight the mind warp and its suggestion. Max felt himself grow angry, Tess had forced the minwarp on person whom knew what she was doing. Max healed the spot, the backed away from Alex. "Still wanna go to Sweden?" Alex crinkled up his face "What? Sweden? noway! i spending the holidays with my family!" Liz and Maria looked at each other and smiled. "Well we nipped that problem in the bud." Maria sighed. Liz frowned "For now." she replied.
Max looked at everyone seriously "She forced the mindwarp on him. He had slight bruising, but i healed it .Isabel stood up and looked at Max gravely. "Max why would she do such a thing?" Zan suddenly looked at his watch. "Speaking of Tess, i gotta go meet her at Max's room. i promised her i would do some memory retrevial with her." Everyone's eyes were suddenly on Zan. Max frowned at him "Memory retrevial? Zan i really don't think its safe." Zan wave his hand in dismissal, wich unnerved Max. "Well, i got things under control. I have no intentions of "getting" with Tess. Ava will tell you. Besides, she doesn't know i know about her diary, or that peice of paper." "He's right Maxwell" Michael spoke up. "Better let him go, let him distract her for a bit.. We are gonna need a little more time to come up with a plan anyways."Michael then snorts. "If he's anything like you, hes going to do it anyways." Max glances over at Zan, who raises his chin a bit and takes a determined stance. Max didn't like it. Originally, he started the memory retrevial with Tess. That was when he tapped into a connection with Liz. But he had sensed that Liz had been concerned about the connection.Max could also feel Tess trying to weasel her way into his mind. She couldn't. Wether it was because she could not because of his connection with Liz, or becuase she just couldn't with the other hybrids, he was unsure. What he did know, she hadn't gotten in. Max finally sighs. "Okay, go ahead see if you can't keep her busy for the rest of the night.

Chapter 19

She was pissed. "Why the hell did Zan, go seeking out the others?" she thought to herself confused. It didn't make sense. What possible need did he have with them? Then Lonnie thought of Ava. She knew Zan's sudden trip to Roswell, had somthing to do with her.Lonnie wasn't dumb. She knew there was somthing different about Ava, she wasn't like them, Like herself and Rath . More like Zan. Independent,but not really wanting to be part of the group. She actually cared about Zan, probably wouldn't even betray him. As, for Lonnie and her lover Rath, they hated the way Zan dictated everything. Always being careful, never actually taking a risk. They had all these cool powers, and the most they used them for was to knocking over displays of fruit, so they could steal money from the owner's register. Only a day ago had she and Rath used them for something a bit risky. Stealing the car. Rath had changed a few features, and she change the licence plate.Would a the police run the numbers? that was the risk.But Rath was thinking smart during their trip, and drove according to the law.Wonders never ceased.
"What's the matter Lonnie?" Rath asked, not really concerned, but her angry silence was unnerving.She did this when she was angry with him, as well. He was sorely tempted to give her a quick zap just to break her silence He even flexed his hand in anticipation.But if there was one thing Rath learned, after living with Lonnie all these years,you don't cross her when shes pist.So Rath decided to go with the safest route."What if Zan, refuses to go?" she asked.Rath continue to look forward as he spoke."Maybe the other Zan might." Lonnie frowned at him and shook her head."Not likely, not while their all together, we're talking, two Zans, two Ava's and our dupes? If we have any hope we have to seperate the Zan's and hope one of em agrees. I don't know about you, but i'll do anything to get off this god forsaken planet. Ugh!" Her last words worried Rath for a moment.Anything? Including betrayin him? "Sure!" he thought to himself "Wouldn't you do the same?" Of course he would.
Liz sits down thumbing the corner edge of Tess's diary, then opens it and begins to read. At first the writing is barley ledgeable, but a few weeks of dated pages, The writing becomes neat and youthful. Liz suddenly find herself drawn to a page. "Sept 7, 1992. Today was an interesting day, It was my first day of school.I like my school and my teacher is very nice. But the kids here are mean! some of the girls were picking on my pigtails, and one girl grabbed one and cut it off! The school called Nesado and he came and picked me up from school. Later that day, he fixed my hair and we laughed about look on the girl's faces when they saw my hair fixed the next day. He also showed me how to use my powers, and told me the next time those girls bothered me, and the teacher wasn't looking to give them a good zap!" Liz couldn't believe how young Tess was when Nasedo taught her to retaliate. Liz skimmed through quite a few more pages, then stopped. "Dear Diary, - - - - -th 1996 Happy Birthday to me!! today i turned 12!! or sort of at least that is what i appear to be physically. What a strange thing fate is. Today i learned there are 3 others like me, one of those 3 his antarian name is Zan, will someday be my mate. The others, his sister and her betroved and Zan's second in comand. Nasedo says that Zan and I were created for each other, but he also says i will have to betray Zan, if i ever hope to survive.He said that even though my destiny is to marry Zan and rule as queen, that our enemies will do all in their power to prevent this.So, Nasedo made a bargin with the leader Kihvar, and i may return home with Nasedo, unharmed as long as i brought home an heir to the throne. So there it is, my destiny.....rewrittened."
Liz looked up at Max. Tess had planned this years before she would ever lay eyes on Max.Even though she knew it was wrong, she had every intention of going through with it. Liz felt her stoache clench in anger. Maria sits down beside Liz, While Michael, Isabel and Max talked quietly to each other."Hey! anything in there we can spread around the school?" Liz smirked at her friend's joke."I wish." Liz replied dryly " Maria, Tess has been planning to betray Max since she was tweleve!" Liz exclaimed quietly Maria cocked and eyebrow "They start so young don't they?" Liz rolled her eyes and began reading through Tess's diary again. This time, she was looking for a specific date."Aha!" she exclaimed quietly. Maria leaned in closer, to see what all the noise was about. "Dear Diary, January 1999 Nasedo says he may have found the "others" and funny enough, they were right were he had left them, in Roswell New Mexico. He's been taking pictures of them and the town so that i know what they look like and where they live. To make settling in here easier. Liz skimms through yet a few more pages. "Dear Diary April 2002
Today we moved to Roswell, and I started My first day at Roswell High. I got to see Vilandra for the first time face to face. We hit it off right away. She even likes sugar in her yougurt! at least i don't have to feel strange for likeing that anymore I also saw Max, but i did not get to say hello his human girlfriend Liz was close by his side. I have have been asking about him, to other students around school, they all say he's totally in love with Liz Parker and that they are inserperable. Imagine the look on her face when Max suddenly awakens to his destiny and drops her like a bad habit for me! The look on her face will be so priceless!"
"Ugh!" Liz snorts. She had finally lost control of her anger, and instantly Tess's diary burst into flames. The flames caught Max, Isabel and Michael attention, and Max rushed over and put the flames out. "Liz!" Max exclaimed "What are you doing?" Isabel and Michael looked at Liz and then the diary in shock. "Wait, Liz did that?" Isabel asked not really believeing. "Liz has powers now?" Michael asked "Yet another secret you been keeping from us Maxwell." Then suddenly all eyes were on Liz. She stood there hands clenched into fists green energy crackling all around her knuckles."The more i find out about that girl...the more i begin to hate her!" Liz growls between gritted teeth. Max rushes to Liz's side to soothe her. "Liz, try to be patient, we'll take care of her soon." Liz looks up at Max with and angry glare. "I don't know how much more patient i can be! I want her gone Max! before she destroys all our lives!" Then Liz turns and heads into her bedroom. Maria gets up and and approaches Max. "She does have a right to be angry." She says and then hands Max the slighly charred diary, opened to the most recently read page. "Well, girlfriend i am off to bed myself, its been a long one. Besides me and uh spaceboy over there, have alot of talking to do, see ya in school tomorrow." "You and iwill talk later Maxwell" Michael says as Maria grabs him by the arm. "Likewize" Isabel whispers close to his ear, and then takes off with Alex.
