Hey guys! This part isn't much, but it's leading up to the big event! Also, I just wanted to say, if anybody here watches The O.C., that Colin Hanks is supposed to be making an appearance in upcoming episodes, so be sure to watch! I gtg wathc Alias, so enjoy.

Chapter 16a

Tuesday Night - 3 Nights Till Prom

Liz smiled as she twirled in her dress in the mirror. She was still in disbelief that Max had actually bought it for her.

' I guess when you're in love, you do things to make the one you love happy.'

Well, she couldn't be happier. She quickly, lifting up her dress, ran to her calender and put a slash through Tuesday.

"Only three days till my magical night comes to life!"

A knock sounded on Liz's door and her mother peeked in.

"The girls are here."

Liz smiled. She had invited Isabel, Maria, and Tess over so they could figure out hair styles, jewelry, look through magazines, and talk about their dates. She was having such a wonderful week so far that she wanted to share it with her best friends. Liz laughed as she heard them come up the stairs. They walked into her room, dress bags in hand, and then Maria and Tess jumped on Liz's bed.

"Gee guys, make yourselves comfortable."

All three girls looked at Liz in silence.

"What?" She asked a but scared.

' Oh god, does this dress look really bad on me? Oh no, what'll happen now if Max sees it on me. Then he'll know he wasted his money!'

"You look...." Isabel said breathless, unable to complete her sentence.

Tess's blue eyes sparkled and she finished for Isabel, "... beautiful, Liz. Absolutley beautiful. Wow, now I'm not going to be able to finish my sentence," she finished with a giggle.

Maria used her elbows to prop herself up on Liz's bed.

"Liz, you said that Max bought you a dress and that it was perfect, but babe, look out, you're gonna knock them dead at Prom!"

Liz blushed a bit and said, "Ya think?"

"Girl, I know!"

Liz laughed.

Isabel unzipped her dress bag and pulled out a stunning,strapless red gown. Tess unzipped hers out next and pulled out a beautiful baby blue, strapless gown with a little belt going aorund the top of the waist. Maria was the final one to pull out her dress. It was an elegant emerald green dress with a layered light green inset and with a rhinestone clip.
The three girls changed and zippered up their dresses and stood in the mirror together, each imagining what the night will be like.

"Look at us. We look like Joan Rivers is going to come in the room and interview us." Tess said.

The four girls laughed and nodded.

"What should I do with my hair, you guys?" Liz asked, lifting her hair up with her fingers.

"I think you should curl it." Tess said.

"I think you should put it up in a bun, and let strings of hair fall down." Isabel said, looking at her own hair.

"I think we need music." Maria said putting one of her burned CD's in.

The Rembrants, "I'll Be There For You" sounded aad the girls started to dance around Liz's room together in their dresses.

So no one told you life was gonna be this way

The girls clapped, like they always did during the beginning of 'Friends'.

Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's DOA

It's like you're always stuck in second gear,

or even your year, but...

Tess, Isabel, Liz, and Maria all starrted to sing along and point to each other.

"You're still in bed at ten, though work begins at eight", Isabel sang.

"You burned your breakfast, so far things are going great, " Tess sang next.

"Your mother warned you there'd be days like these," Liz sang.

"But she didn't tell you when the world was brought down to your knees that... " Maria finished.

Then again they sang together, pointing to each other,

"I'll be there for you...

When the rain starts to pour

The girls laughed and looked at each other. They stood at the foot of the bed and did all kinds of wacky dances.

The track finished and the girls all collasped, exhausted, onto Liz's bed laughing.

"The Prom is gonna be a blast, and tiring!" Tess yelled out, laughing.

"It'll be the perfect night, nothing will go wrong." Maria assured herself and her best friends.

'I sure hope so.Then again, what's the worst that can happen?' Liz thought to herself

Uh oh, was that a jinx I put upon Liz? *looks around and shrugs* I guess you'll have to wait and find out! Also, it's not the best manip ever, but here are the girls in their prom dresses

Chapter 16b

Friday - Liz's Apartment - 9 hrs. til Prom

Liz hectically grabbed her dress, make-up and other products she needed. It was 11:00 and she had to get to her nail appointment. Isabel had reserved them a spot all together so they could chat about tonight. Liz flew down the stairs and saw Maria's Jetta in the back. Maria saw her coming and went to go and help her.

"I brought that aroma therapy stuff you loves so much. My mom says she added a couple of extra things for you too."

"Tell her thanks." Liz said as she hung her dress on the hook in the backseat.

"So, have you talked to Romeo?"

"No." Liz said innocently.

Maria shook her head knowing her best friend was lying.

"Okay, so I did. We both can't help it. I had to hear his voice and then he called me to hear mine. It's just so...so...."

"Annoying?" Maria asked laughing.

Liz made a face and said, "No, more like love sick. Maybe he is Romeo and I am Juliet."

"I think so." Maria said as she and Liz both got into the car.

' I just hope we don't become a tragedy...' Liz thought.

Nails of Utopia - 12:30 - 7hrs and 30mins til Prom

"Okay so, Miss. Portman was all hormonal or something and totally went nutso on the class. She accused the whole class of plagiarizing. Not just one or a couple kids, THE WHOLE CLASS!" Isabel gossiped as all the girls were getting their pedicures.

"Liz, whatever happened with the whole shorts incident Wednesday?" Tess asked.

Liz rolled her eyes.

"Well, if you've noticed Pigwoman hasn't been back to our table since. I was falsely accused. I've worn those shorts before and two days ago she picks the day to send me to the 'School Disciplinarian'? Ugh! I'm just glad you had an extra pair of pants, Tess."

"I agree with Liz. I mean look at Pam Troy. How come all the sluts and whores in our school walk around getting oogled at with their skirts up their asses and their Britney Spears boobs hanging out and our poor, little, innocent Lizzie gets picked on? What's next? It's like going up and telling someone who has never done anything in there whole life that they murdered a guy!"

Isabel, Liz, and Tess turned their heads to look at Maria.

"Too strong an example?"

"I'd say so." A familiar, yet, irritating voice answered.

The four girls looked up to see Pam Troy and her group behind her.

"Pam why don't you and the rest of the 'Pampers' get out of here. If you want to get your nails done go to 'Canine Cuties' down the street." Maria said ready to fight.

"Don't worry Maria, I saw you guys in here and I felt I had to say something to you guys. Look, I know we've all been through a lot this year and I'm willing to put all the shit behind us since it's Prom."

All the girls, even the ones in Pam's group, looked at her with their jaws dropped. Pam smiled kindly at Liz and walked up to her.

"I just want you to know that I'm glad Max picked you. You two belong together."

"Uh...thanks....Pam....I think."

"I know tonight will be great. I can't wait to see you guys later, I know you'll all look great. Well, okay, let's go guys."

Pam turned and left the nail place leaving Tess, Maria, Liz, and Isabel scared for their lives.

"Who was that and what happened to Pam Troy?" Tess asked.

"It's Roswell, maybe it was a pod person." Maria explained.

"Or maybe she was just being nice." Liz said.

They looked at her questioningly.

"What? Is it too hard to believe that maybe Pam Troy turned over a new leaf and is nice?"

"Yeah!" They replied.

"Yeah, you're right."

"I think she's up to something, but I don't know what." Isabel thinking.

"Okay girls, your feet are beautiful! Now, time to do those hands." The manicurist said.

The girls got up and carefully went over to their manicurists.

"So, what do you think she's planning, Isabel?" Tess asked, picking out a light blue for her nails.

"I don't know, but she said something about tonight. My guess is whatever she's doing she'll do it tonight."

"Man, I hope not. Tonight is supposed to be for us, and I'll be damned if some floozy with an IQ of 25 is gonna ruin it for me." Maria said getting angry. "Ooh! I like that green nail polish."

Liz rolled her eyes. She knew everything was gonna be okay. Nothing was going to stop her night from becoming a fairy tale. This Romeo and Juliet story was going to live happily ever after.

School - Lunch - 12:58 - 7 hrs. and 2 mins til Prom

Max placed his lunch down at his usual table. It was weird not having the girls around today. He was leaving himself with the guys at 1:30, but being away from Liz was torture. She had called him this morning before she went to her appointment with the girls and he had called her back. He was going crazy. He wanted t----

"A penny for your thoughts?" Kyle asked sitting down with Alex behind him.

"Why pay him, we know what he's thinking about..." Alex said.

"Liz." They said together.

"Was not!" He with a blush creeping on his cheeks.

Michael came over and sat down. He dropped his books on the table and a magazine slipped out. Alex quickly noticed and swiped it.

"Michael, Michael, I know guys read Playboy and some even Busty Biker Babes, but Martha Stewart Living? Whatever floats you're boat man."

All the guys laughed except for Michael.

"Shut up, Alex. It's not even mine."

The guys all nodded and laughed, not believing him.

"I never told anyone this, but I've caught Michael watching Martha after school." Max said.

"Max!"

This made the guys laugh more.

"No wonder the Crashdown food tastes so damn good lately. Have you been taking tips from Martha?" Alex asked.

Michael felt good about himself and said, "Well..."

"Man, you do know he was just ragging on you right?" Kyle said looking at Michael's face.

"Fine! Maria started it. She said that if I don't start acting like model boyfriend she'd do something bad to me. I mean you know Maria, and that's bad if she wants to hurt me."

The three guys nodded, knowing what Michael was saying.

"So I started watching Martha and taking tips. It's gotten worse. I watch Martha at home and now I'm buying her magazine. I need help guys," Michael said pleading. "Please, help me!"

"Calm down. I've seen this type of problem before. All we have to do is limit your watching time of Martha. I mean this isn't that serious. It's not like your watching 30 Minute Meals, Boy Meets Grill, and Two Fat Ladies or anything...." Kyle said.

Michael gave them a guilty look.

"This is worse than I thought! Hurry stat, we have to get rid of the magazine!"

"No!" Michael yelled. "I haven't ripped out the recipe for Cuban sandwiches yet!"

They all gave him a strange look.

"Oh god! Take it away, take it away!"

Alex got up, dangled the magazine over the trash can and plopped it in.

"It was for your own good buddy." Max said pat his best friend on the back.

"You guys won't tell Maria, right?"

They smirked.

"Right?"

Mall Food Court - 1:40 - 6hrs. 20mins til Prom

Maria and the girls had been in the Mall searching for a hair accessory that Isabel had seen in a magazine while they were getting their nails done. Maria's cellphone started to ring. She quickly got in out of her handbag, put it up to her ear and started walking out of the food court.

"Hello?"

"Maria?" A low voice asked.

"Alex is that you?" Maria asked.

"Yeah." He said again in a low voice.

"Why are you whispering?"

"Ummm..." Alex chuckled, along with another voice chuckling.

"What's so funny? Who else is there?"

"Kyle.... well, we have news to tell you."

"Is it about Pam Troy?"

"No."

"Then why are you calling me?"

"It's about Michael." Alex said with Kyle hysterically laughing in the background.

Maria stopped.

"What did he do now?"

"Well, he's been, he's been..."

"What are you lame brains doing! We're hear to get our tuxedos not anything else." Michael called in the background.

"How about you bake a apple pie with your new sweetheart Michael!" Kyle called back.

Maria felt numb and hung up the phone.

"Michael cheating on me?" She whispered.

She ran back to the food court and to her table.

"Maria, what's wrong?" Liz asked seeing the distress on Maria's face.

"Where did the guys go to get their tuxedos?"

"After Hours. Why?" Isabel asked.

"Oh I just want to pay Michael a visit.... oh, that and breakup with him." Maria said on her way to After Hours.

Chapter 17a

The girls followed as a homicidal-looking Maria stormed past every store in the Mall. They couldn't believe that they had heard her say she was going to break-up with Michael. Breaking up with Michael was bad, but Prom was tonight and that made it worse.

"Maria!! Slow down!!" Isabel called.

"Maria, we need to talk about this!" Liz called, way behind of the group

Tess ran up to Maria. She was right behind her and said, "Think about what you're doing."

Maria stopped and turned around to face her friends. She had managed to stopped crying, but the remainder of the tears before were still fresh on her cheeks.

"I'm damned."

"Huh?" Tess asked as Isabel and Liz caught up.

"Some floozy with an IQ of 25 is gonna ruin Prom for me."

"I'm lost." Liz said.

"Don't you guys get it? Michael is cheating on me." She said bursting into tears.

The girls hugged Maria close. Many thoughts raced through Liz's head. She squeezed Maria close. A question popped in her head and she blurted it out, " How do you know?"

Maria sniffled and wiped her nose and eyes before answering.

"Alex and Kyle called me and said Michael had a new girlfriend. So I'm gonna break-up with him before he does with me!"

Maria pushed out of the hug. Liz just stood there in shock. She didn't know how this could happen. One minute everything was perfect, then the next Maria is going to break-up with Michael. She couldn't believe it. Michael and Maria were perfect for each other. The way they bickered back and forth and put up with each other, who else could do that besides them? It was just like her and Max. They completed each other and now Liz was determined to figure out how this happened and how to fix it. There must have been some kind of explanation. She and Michael had grown to be like brother and sister these last few months and she knew he wouldn't do something like this to Maria.

"Maria, Michael would never do that to you!"

Maria turned to Liz.

"Well, we'll see won't we."

Without evening knowing it they were already outside the store. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Maria stormed into the store and immediately found Michael. She pushed him then slapped him in the head.

"I HATE YOU MICHAEL GUERIN!"

"Ow! What did I do?"

"Don't lie. I know everything!!!"

Michael thought hard. It suddenly came to his mind about lunch and the whole Martha thing. That must have been why she was mad at him, or so he thought.

"Oh, you know..."

"You bet I know!"

"Look, it was a mistake. Martha is no more. She's trash."

" You bet she's TRASH!"

"Look it's over."

"I don't care that it's over. I care that it began!"

Michael and Maria's fight had caused a commotion. Liz thought they might be thrown out the store soon. She backed away from the crowd and stood at the far end of the store. It dawned on her that maybe her optimism got the best of her, maybe everything wasn't going to be okay.

' Maybe this Romeo and Juliet story won't get the happily ever after, after all...' she thought.

I AM SOOOOOOO DEEPLY SORRY, YOU GUYS!!!!! I've been so in depth with school and work that I haven't even been able to write a sentence that didn't have to do with History, English, or even Health. I hope this makes it better. I'll type up a new part too this weekend and try to have it up in the week or by next weekend. Please forgive me!!!

Chapter 17b

Max was so confused. He knew Michael and he knew that he really liked Maria. He also knew that he wouldn’t even dare to cheat on her. Max looked over at Liz and saw that she had the same look on his face that he obviously had. He quickly walked over to her.

“Do you know what is going on?” He asked.

“No, but I can’t figure it out. Who’s Martha?”

Max asked, “Martha? Who is Martha?”

“Tha girl that Michael is allegedly seeing.”

‘Martha…Martha…. MARTHA! Martha Stewart!’

Max started to belt out laughing. Everyone turned to him. Liz looked at him questioningly and he whispered in her ear what was really going on. Liz, too, began to laugh. Maria looked over and got pissed off.

“What the hell is so funny?”

“Michael’s dating Martha Stewart.” Liz blurted out.

“Stewart, huh? Well, I’m going to find this MARTHA STEWART and… Wait. Martha Stewart? As in the decorative goddess, Martha Stewart?”

Liz and Max nodded, trying not to burst out in laughter again.

“I’m so confused.” Maria said.

“It’s all about a magazine I had.” Michael said.

“But Alex and Kyle called me and said you were cheating on me.”

“Well, Dumb and Dumber over there are gonna be dead soon so it doesn’t matter.”

“So, you’re not cheating on me?” Maria asked hopefully.

“No, how could I? All I want is you.”

“Oh, Spaceboy.”

Maria kissed Michael.

“Oh, Martha…”

Maria pulled back, “What did you call me?”

Michael laughed, “ I’m just kidding.”

Maria pushed him and walked out of the store.

“What did I do?”

Alex and Kyle went and laughed in the corner of the store until Isabel and Tess hit them for working up Maria. Liz stayed by Max as they cuddled and walked in the mall at the same time, while keeping tabs on Maria.

“Remind me never to tell the guys anything…ever.”

Liz giggled.

“Well, you can tell some things. Just never anything revolving around where ‘Home Economics’ is concerned.”

“Got it.”

Max and Liz walked until they realized they had lost track of Maria and were at the end of the Mall.

With a sad look on her face, Liz said, “ I better get back. We have a lot to do.”

“Me too.”

Max kissed Liz. He didn’t want to break apart, but he had too. Liz gave him a small second kiss then started to walk away. She turned around.

“I have a surprise for you tonight.” She said happily and nervously.

“Really? What is it?”

“I can’t tell you that.”

“A hint?”

She nodded and said, “After Prom.”

She then turned around again and walked away leaving Max to wonder what Liz was up to.

Hmmmmmm..... What, oh what, could it be? Hmmmmm..... Guess we won't know until later....
